- Hasbro designers put out an open question in Instagram asking "which Prime Wars and WFC figures would you like to see reissued?"
- Some of the most requested are the late wavers in Earthrise, that got no stock
- Months pass
- Leaked listing drops for a selects five pack
It could very much be a coincidence, but it can't be that difficult to get a mould out of storage and assign a new deco.
Plus it's an excuse to finally release earth hound.
If this is how they do business with fan feedback going forward, I'll happily take this over fan votes.

My cat hates Skywarp
My cat, Tiger, has only knocked over any of my transformers a couple of times. Everyone of those times it has been the same WfC Earthrise Skywarp. Sometimes I think I see him staring dagers into it. I don't know why, but for some reason my Cat has a burning hatred for Skywarp.

Snapdragon
- from Transformers
War For Cybertron Earthrise
- by Hasbro
Quick Shots
Another very quick one today, but it's a toy that I love despite all its quirks and flaws.
Earthrise Snapdragon is a Transformer that can turn into three different modes, and only one of them looks particularly good. He's got awkward proportions, and relatively simple engineering - but he's got charm! Great colors and a classic 80s robot silhouette go a long way.
And I'm a sucker for the Headmaster gimmick.
So it's a B-List toy, but one that I've had on display since the day it came out.

Transformers
War For Cybertron
Netflix Edition
Voyager Class
Soundwave
by Hasbro (2021)
I got this in late May 2021 for my 41st birthday (yea I know, I’m old) and I’m super, SUPER backlogged. I’m trying to catch up, I really am.
Tape deck mode:
Yup, it looks like a tape deck to me! Moving on!!!
Okay, so fine, just to go into a little more detail. Netflix Soundwave is a heavy retool of Siege Soundwave, however instead of turning into a spaceship of sorts, he turns into his Earth mode; a tape deck from the 1980s.
As a blue brick the tape deck serves its purpose.
Yes, the back is a mess. It looks better without the guns attached to it, but still it’s pretty janky.
The cassette window can still open and close via a spring-loaded button and you can put his cassette goons inside.
My only complaint about this toy is that this one panel to the left of the cassette window just won’t stay locked down, and I can’t stop looking at it. I’m not sure what the problem is, but it won’t stay closed.
Transformation:
Transformation isn’t much of a challenge at all. In fact it’s very similar to the original G1 toy. Not exactly the same, but a little bit.
Robot Mode:
Earthrise Soundwave is definitely an improvement of the Siege version.
He stands well, and poses well; I’m not seeing any quality control issues.
Soundwave can perform the one-foot balance challenge. It took a little bit of work, but I did it.
Soundwave’s got a lot of 5mm ports, so he can weapon-ed, or armored up; 14 ports in all. Pretty nice.
And of course Soundwave wear all of his minions on his 5mm ports.
Of course Soundwave’s gun can use the blast effects.
Laserbeak:
Earthrise Laserbeak has some some slight retooling too, the head is a vulture, and the wings are different to help represent a more G1 earth mode. It works, and I dig it.
Ravage:
I’m just not a fan of this Ravage.
I think Siege and Earthrise Ravages are just ugly figures. Maybe it’s because they’re so small, and were built for the retail market they both looks like that. Maybe the budget just wasn’t in it for Ravage.
Fortunately I still have my 2008 Ravage from the TF Universe line who was paired with Hound, thought I’m pretty sure the casette tape will be too big for Earthrise Soundwave’s chest.
Accessories:
Along with two of his cassette warriors Soundave comes with the same weapons as the Siege version did; Soundwaves blaster, concussion launcher, and...folding gun? Still have no idea what that thing is.
It’s a gun, and then unfolds to a stick...
I don’t even think Soundwave has any idea what it is...
I suppose Soundwave could use that gun as a handle and the concussion launcher as a hammer?
Final Thoughts:
Netflix Earthrise Soundwave is definitely a step up from the Siege version.
The tape deck does have the tab which just won’t stay down, and that stinks, but I’m willing to overlook that.
Still not a fan of Ravage, but I like Laserbeak. All-in-all the pros outweigh the cons in my opinion of Earthrise Soundwave, and I’m happy that I have him.
Siege & Earthrise Soundwave
It’s nice to see Soundwave with the kids.
