i am thinking how much poorer, how much less colorful the world would be if art was only made by "professionals." if all the music, all the stories, all the sketches & paintings & craftwork of the world was created only by the small category of people able to make a decent living from their art. imagine if the only people allowed to create were the experts & the renowned & those aspiring to the top. what a grey world that would be. how much joy would be bleached away! i love you people who create for the sake of creating, i love you artists who do art for tiny audiences, i love you people who make things even just for one person, even just for themselves, even if no one's watching, thank you thank you thank you for decorating the world in which we all exist

#not a shitpost #related: the most powerful crafters alive are crocheters who spend 7+ years making an intricate table cloth no one is allowed to eat on #all that arcane magic into making a display object primarily for their own enjoyment #and that of the blessed few lucky enough to be invited into their home to behold what is by rights a sacred object #if you spend a certain number of hours crafting something u have the right to have it put in a shrine or museum of your choosing i think #you have imbued it with your Life Essence by sheer force of concentration and obsession it is Holy now #anyways. old ladies who knit/crochet/embroider etc are a thousands times more powerful and intimidating #than old white dudes who are obsessed with war memorabilia or whatever #i have nothing but respect awe and appropriate amounts of fear towards crafters. my liege

Do you guys subscribe to the theory that (at least, starting in NuWho) the Doctor can, somewhat, subconsciously control his regenerations?

Like, of course, 8 wanted to be a warrior, so he became the War Doctor (I know that he drank a potion for that, but that might’ve just been lemonade according to the Target Novelization).

War wanted to be the hero, to earn the title, the Doctor, again, so he became 9.

9 wanted to be someone who was the perfect partner to Rose (human), so he became 10.

10, in his vanity, wanted his final regeneration to be young, so he became 11.

11, after all the heartache, wanted to be more distant (and also what they said in series 8), so he became 12.

12 wanted a kind, fresh start, so he became 13.

13 wanted to open up to someone, so she became 14.

14 wanted time to heal, so he split off 15.

This is not an original theory, and I'm not even saying that I buy into it fully it, but it's interesting. It would be interesting if the Doctor had a tiny bit of control over their regeneration (Romana did, somehow) and most of the time his wants either backfire or only half work.

Cody is the type of guy to adopt an old, scraggly looking cat. He isn't going to, but then he hears someone in his building is moving, and they can't keep their cat, so either someone takes it or they get rid of it. And Cody reluctantly gets pressured into taking it.

And at first they're roommates, sometimes he talks to it like it's a person. "Ripley, where is my phone? C'mon old girl, you saw me with it."

But then the cat gets used to him, and suddenly, he sits at night watching TV with this cat sitting on the arm of the chair next to him. "You see that? Unrealistic. You'd have to stick the knife deeper for it to bleed that much." "Meow."

But then, one random night, he's had a bad day. He's frustrated and annoyed at everyone and everything. He's sitting with his feet up on the table in front of him, and he's scowling. Then these little paws start stepping across his abdomen, and he stares down at the cat in bewilderment as it curls up on his abdomen and falls asleep. He gives her a little scratch behind the ear, and she purrs rather loudly.

After that, it becomes a nightly tradition.

Eventually, she gets out of his apartment and finds her way to a kind stranger and befriends him. When this kind stranger brings her back, Cody and this kind, friendly, and rather handsome stranger start getting along. A couple of months later, Obi-Wan wakes up in Cody's bed to see Ripley, the little old lady, sitting on his chest staring him down.
