Ok so Bryan's leg got stuck between the ramp and the ring during the brawl. Which TK needs to now abandon the whole ring and ramp connection cause they were trying to get him unstuck for like 10 minutes. Bryan looked like he was in a lot of pain and at first we thought it was part of the story, but Mox was pretty heated about it so... Once they finally got him unstuck, by pushing the ring away, Bryan got up and put his hands out to us to signal he was okay, which was relieving!!! He did limp away though and they continued the story as best as they could.... I don't know how much of this will be on tv since it was after the main event, so I wanted to fully recap it for y'all. some thoughts on MJF’s heel work + the CM Punk feud

I think it’s so worth taking a minute to appreciate all the layers of narrative mastery in the Punk / MJF segment last night. Here I want to talk about the way that heel work, really iconic heel work, is the kind where you want them to keep being bad.

MJF is such an interesting case. The way he does old school, never breaks kayfabe heel work, the way he brings his parents in to his mess, his whole “shitty toxic workplace dynamic” that the Pinnacle has going-- as someone who mostly resonates with tweener heels / righteous heels, I’ll admit, he wasn’t much of a draw to me prior to this feud (the fact that he uses misogyny as cheap heat in some of his promos soured me on him for a while-- heat topics can be difficult and that’s one I just don’t roll with). But I had to admit, there was some appeal to having an uncomplicated heel, and I liked his Wardlow/Spears work.

Punk does a lot of bleeding edge reality/shoot??/work work. A bud shared from me this quote from Sharon Mazer’s book about wrestling a while back:

They (fans) don’t so much suspend disbelief as they sustain it while looking for moments in which to believe.

I’ve been thinking about that a lot with respect to Punk’s feud. By construction, MJF’s heel work is antithical to that. You kind of have to believe he’s doing his gimmick at all times, otherwise who on earth would work with that guy??? But there’s enough precious little shoot MJF content (here is some), because he’s dedicated to keeping up that facade.

Last week, MJF cut a “bleeding edge” shoot promo. In it, he told a story that, well, we had to believe was true, at least I felt. When Punk came out to react to that, you could tell he believed it as well. And in that hug we had like-- the reality, you know? On multiple levels, the story of a kid bullied, antisemitic bullying that messed with his neurodivergent brain, made us shut up and listen. And for a moment there, it wasn’t the audience vs. MJF, the audience *was* with MJF. Emotionally speaking, and especially for everyone who was a long time Punk mark. They really bided their time perfectly with that one.

Punk comes out to speak this week. And this time, we’re all of us with him. Do we trust MJF? MJF, known heel in everything? What does this mean? And Punk got real. He said, hey, in my career. I was the villain. And sometimes, that shit wasn’t just kayfabe.

One of the most babyface moments ever, imo. AEW really does tell growth/masculinity stories wonderfully.

It was kind of like-- they gave us the healing, and made the healing real. In my case, with that hug, I genuinely had a second of going “oh shit are they really doing this with MJF??? bro????”

And then by dropping the snake promo right after that-- they also bided their time perfectly with that reference. It was this snap back to kayfabe reality. It was like saying “this is the story, this is what’s comic book heros and villains, and we are going to take that story to its conclusion.”

It reminded us that MJF is the heel because he’s fucking great at it, and what’s more, we wouldn’t have it any other way. And that’s how you keep up your gimmick :”)

revolution.

so..........hi.

time for a long, probably boring paragraph or fifty about revolution :D

firstly, match of the night,, it’s between two (and i’m totally unbiases guys). i’d have to say it’s between sammy, darby, & sting vs ahfo and mjf vs cm punk.

i’m not biases guys i swear,, those are just the matches i enjoyed the most. i was on the edge of my seat for both matches (once from excitement, once from fear) and they just happen to involve my faves SO WHAT.

but likeeeee, let me just discuss these two matches rq, then i’ll just discuss my other faves.

the tornado tag match...my besties slayed that’s all. and sting my man...mvp of the match bro. mans is older than my parents and they would simply d-word if they tried that table shot. mad respect for you broski. but sammy & darby tho :((( my fave unofficial besties :((( for those who don’t know (after this post you can probably tell though) they’re two of my faves and UGH i just love seeing them together :)

and then,, the dog collar match. *shivers from flashbacks* that match. it stressed me out. it hurt me. it made feel like i bleeding along with them. help. basically, i just took a lot of eMoTiOnAl DaMaGe from that match,, sigh. max...maxie....babe :( tonight wasn’t your night don’t let it eat you up. for those who don’t know (which is no one because i talk about 24/7), max is one of my faves (probably my number one fave tbh...) BUT cm punk was my fave growing up so....*cries* but but but!! to literally NO ONE’s surprise, BESTIE WARDLOW with the betrayal of the century. i’m...i’m hurt. not shocked, but very hurt. wardlow man you did me dirty but it’s okay i’ll still love you. but yeah. i’m just. i’m a mess.

anyway, ADAM VS ADAM *thunder rumbles in the distance* boy when i tell you this match had me reeling. i personally wanted adam to win :) but this match was so entertaining,, my adam of choice for the evening (and all evenings) was adam cole (bay bay) so i’m kinda bummed that my man didn’t win but it’s okay because i personally believe that someone else (*cough cough* maxwelljacobfriedman *cough cough*) should be the one to take the belt from hangman and finally get what they have deserved since they stepped foot in an aew ring (here’s me making this about max yet again) sigh. but yeah end of rant.

other great things from last night that made me smile :D

- the ladder match,, bestie i love a good ladder match. my pick to win was of course bestie wardlow who is now temporarily no longer my bestie (i need time to recover guys) but honestly i like all those boys so i really didn’t have too much of a preference about who won. congrats to the traitor wardlow i guess...

- the tag titles match....oh broskis when i tell you these are my three favorite teams in aew...another match that stressed me out :) i did end up picking jungle boy and his dinosaur bestie :D simply because i was wearing my four pillars shirt and i could never go against any of my pillar boys when i’m wearing their shirt (or when i’m not wearing their shirt) but man did everyone deliver. i love reDRagon guys. so much. i really thought they had it at the end but alas, i was mistaken. but the BUCKS bro. i love them too ugh this match was iconic.

- HOOK PPV DEBUT HOOK PPV DEBUT. my MAN. my absolute fave rookie of the year every year bro i love this man so much (y’all probably guessed that) and oh boy did he eat qt UP. ugh i’m proud. i’m so proud. he looked so lovely too. i’m in love guys.

- both women’s matches :) i love when women <3 i love everyone who was there but just like i do with every ppv event, i am once again asking where tf is my girl penelope ford. i miss her. i miss her and i want her back now. but britt though :))) i love my fave dentist <33 but the kiss in tay vs jade??? hello??? it was so unprovoked LMAO. but like no complaints here broskis we love to see the fruitiness.

Maxlow Moment of the Week?

OH. MY. GOD. What a match.

Blood, sweat, and tears.

The way they pulled at our heartstrings! I was at the edge of my seat until the moment when the Pinnacle's success sunk in... The fear and anxiety were replaced by the aesthetically beautiful, iconic cinematic images of MJF covered in blood, internalizing this victory. Wrestling is Art.

While I was VERY disappointed that they aired a lot of Wardlow's screentime on picture-in-picture (🤬🔪💀), this absolute unit of a man found many ways to shine, like he always does. If you haven't yet, do yourself a favor and look for a stream with no adds (it's totally worth the re-watch).

This might be silly, but... We have never seen him in full white before?! I loved it!

Actually, I love that the guys in the Pinnacle were all matching. The only thing I missed from this fight was a shot of the whole faction together after winning, but the matching outfits did a decent job at giving us a sense of unity. Plus, we got that little video of them after (x). That was a great way to get some closure.

There were many amazing interactions between the boys during the fight, but the Maxlow moment of the week is Wardlow once again giving it all for Max.

That night, to protect MJF, he went berserk.

When the situation looked hopeless for Max, despite already being hurt and exhausted, Wardlow made strength out of pure willpower and charged like a knight in shining armour to save his boyfriend boss.

He's a real-life superhero... absolutely breathtaking.

I can't wait to see what's on the horizon for our boys now that MJF has taken his spot. With this victory, the Pinnacle seats at the top. Now I want to see more interactions within the members of the faction, and a little bit more maxlow, s'il vous plaît. Either way, this feels like the beginning of a new era. This time for real.

Congratulations to all of you fans of the Pinnacle: we did it, we survived the wait. The struggle is done. It's been an arduous journey. Now it's time to kick some ass 🏔️🤘

I'm fucking devastated...

I wrote a blog reviewing AEW dynamite (19/02/20), it was in depth, humorous AND long as shit... I used my phones swipe gesture to open Chrome to fact check something in case I was remembering it wrong.. and with one fluid motion.........CLOSED TUMBLR, losing the fucking essay I'd typed AND wasted a good hour and a half on.... that's fucking it... I'm turning off motion gestures on this fucking phone.... back to having my icons you shit...

Short version of my review....

Matt har...Jackson wins the battle royals for the young Bucks who go on to face the title holders later in the night (currently Kenneth Omega 6 and Hangman Austin 3:16 Page, but they have a match with belts on the line later with Lucha Bros)

Also, Orange Cassidy gets freshly squeezed by the Bunny... some people would pay good money for that, you ungrateful orange!

Kris Statlander beats the piss out of Shanna (wearing hot Goku outfit) whilst "Booping" everybody in sight and causing me to propose to my TV screen. She said BOOP!

Post match, Nyla comes out for an interview with Tony Schiovone and runs down the locker room, especially Riho. Kris comes back from the locker room, boops the title, big swole comes out and gets shouty... refs break up none existing fight.

Jeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooon Moxley wins against Jeff Cobb, in the only disappointing match on the card. Technically sound but boring. Jeff looked strong but lost clean which doesn't look good, when hes Jerichos "hired assassin".

The inner Circle pile in and Dustin comes out and looks impressive plowing into the group, he gets overcome and the lights switch off... bah god that's gotta be kane!... nope... just Darby Allin... not disappointing, but I started watching wrestling in 97'... the lights went out, that meant hell fore and brimstone sunny jim!..

Derby swings his Skayeboard like a man possessed before wirelessly issuing a challenge to Sammy G for Revolution.

Kenneth and Page take on the Luchas in the most stunning display!. There aren't words for this kind of match.. everybody involved is a treat to behold, and Rey Fenix is on another level.. fluid as fuck! I've NEVER seen anyone run across the top rope to boot someone in the temple.

If you're reading this... WATCH THIS MATCH... just watch it!. Far from perfection, but entertaining as shit!

Kenny and Page take the W, and out come nick and Matt to celebrate. The Elite are facing off in two weeks, Bucks Vs the Drunk fucks. Adam Page seems unsure and drinks the audiences beer as he leaves... leaving kenny to make excuses to Nick and Matt.

Main Event time and the Cage is being lowered and set for Wardlow Vs. Cody Rhodes.

Wardlow hair stays in it's silly little man bun for a while but eventually pops out of place to make him look like an emo warlord. Cody is thrown into the cage early on which busts him open (keeps the camera off him long enough for him to carve a big chunk of scalp off), wardlow dominates but Cody gets some offense in... at one point Rollercodester is thrown through the cage door and Arn Anderson is holding it as MJF (Best ever, seriously the man.. fuck off he is!), eggs him on to swing it hard into Cody... Arn teases a turn, but swings it hard into the face of the King of the $10000 bling! Cody re-enters the fray and gets nailed with MJFs Dynamote ring... he retrieved is and returned fire, causing MJF to climb the cage in disgust, Brabdy spanks his ass with a chair twice and Maximillion drops down to spark her out... however... he gets suckerpunched.

Cody gets the upper hand and climbs the enormous cage, and as he hits the top, there isnt even a SECOND, no hesitation, no fear, no considering... his second foot hits the metal pole top of the cage, and he moonsaults from the top of that fucker onto wardlow and covers him for the 3 count.

Cody celebrates as my man MJF realises that Cody has done it. He refrained from physical contact, he took his 10 lashes in the ring and he defeated Warslow in a cage match... in less than two weeks, MJF takes on his mentor. Cody Rhodes. Max plays this PERFECTLY. he is the Best heel the business has to offer right now. Quick witted, snarky and plays his part 24/7 on his Twitter.

Great show!.... besides the Mox misfire, I think it hit all the bases.
