The Missed Trees play live at The Warehouse Cafe

While I haven’t stopped writing and recording songs as a solo artist (watch this space for a new release before the end of the year), I am thoroughly enjoying playing with the incredibly talented Louisa Davies-Foley in The Missed Trees, so would love you to come and see us play this Friday at The Warehouse Cafe in Digbeth.

Our first gig took place at the lovely Artefact in Stirchley in July and since then we have added a few more songs to our set, as well as working on the ones we played first time round. If you have listened to any of my music, you’ll recognise the storytelling songwriting style, but with harmony vocals or the addition of Louisa’s beautiful lead vocals and fiddle playing, it’s a much richer sound than I can achieve on my own. Sometimes when I am playing the songs I get quite lost in the sound and can’t quite believe it’s me that wrote and is performing this music.

There are some more upbeat songs, but this is the one I consider our most beautiful and possibly the saddest (video taken from the previous concert)

The Warehouse Cafe is a great place that’s very dear to my heart, as I used to work for Birmingham Friends of the Earth in the same building and love the ethos of the place. I am delighted that we’re playing there and can bring music to people in the centre of Birmingham on a pay as you feel basis. We know there’s a cost of living crisis at the moment, so we don’t want anyone not to come and see us because they they wouldn’t be able to afford the cost of a ticket. We’re sure that there will be people there who will enjoy the music and be able to make a contribution to our costs in rehearsing for and playing this gig. 

We want people to hear the amazing songs we’re playing and to tell more people to come and see us next time. We hope to do many more gigs in 2023, as well as recording and releasing music for people to enjoy listening to wherever they are. See you on Friday!

"thank you." you smiled warmly as you heard your name and grabbed the tray of coffees, weaving your way out of the small but busy cafe and making a beeline for the car, hurrying as the weather looked like it could break at any second.

you balanced the tray in one hand and yanked open luca's door with the other, carefully sliding inside and placing the coffees on his middle console as you shut the door.

"i can't believe you're drinking an iced coffee it's like four degrees." luca chuckled as he and alessia grabbed their own, your girlfriend kissing your cheek appreciatively as you leaned forward to take yours.

"she could be stuck in the snow and she'd still choose an iced drink over a warm one." alessia chuckled knowingly as you hummed in agreement, mouth full of coffee as luca started the car up again.

"so what is this shoot for again?" you questioned, covering your yawn with your hand, the time not quite yet reaching eight in the morning. "wonderland magazine." luca answered, alessia too busy messing about with the music in the passenger seat.

this wasn't how you'd planned your day to go. woken up to gentle kisses along your shoulder blades as you melted into your girlfriends arms, eyes squeezed shut and doing your best to ignore her soft warnings that apparently now the two of you needed to be up soon.

you knew she had the photo shoot today as it had been circled on the calendar for weeks now given alessia couldn't function without a physical schedule of all her multitude of commitments both on and off the football pitch.

you rarely accompanied her to shoots or interviews which is why it was out of the norm for her to so badly want you to. though she'd put it down to the pair of you being separated for the majority of the week with work commitments

the two of you though incredibly smitten both vastly independent and not afraid to give one another space whenever it was needed. both having lived alone for a couple of years before you'd moved in together that had also been an adjustment, but communication such a pivotal key in your relationship it had been a smooth one.

the car ride went far too quickly and suddenly you were shrinking away from the hustle and bustle of the packed out warehouse where the shoot was being held. you stuck by luca's side as he mingled and conversed, shaking hands and sending a beaming russo smile, singing his sisters praises any chance he could.

eventually alessia returned from hair and makeup and you found yourself breathless at the ethereal beauty you couldn't help but be constantly enamoured by. it was times like this you couldn't believe she was really your girlfriend.

you needed to pinch yourself several times as you watched on with a proud smile, catching the blondes eyes every now and then as she'd send you a wink or a grin before snapping right back into professional mode.

"no! lessi go get a towel or something, there's not a chance you don't spill anything on that white dress." you smacked your girlfriends hand away as she reached for her lunch, sending her a firm warning look knowing her clumsy habits all too well as her brother echoed your reasonings.

so with a huff she marched off, returning with a tea towel she'd pulled from god knows where, covering herself and raising an eyebrow as you nodded, gesturing for her to eat.

and you were grateful she did, because it wasn't even two bites in before she'd dropped a forkful of pasta onto her lap, and a further few minutes passed before she spilled her pepsi down her chin too.

"can't take you anywhere." you tutted quietly with a shake of your hear, the taller girl knocking her knee against yours playfully before you both shared a smile and a giggle, luca rolling his eyes with a smile.

you found yourself sat atop a stack of cases, conversing away to a few of the production assistants as everyone awaited alessia to return in her latest wardrobe change. the two young girls called away you waved them off with a smile, jumping as cold fingers suddenly grazed the small of your back.

"hello gorgeous."

"hi." you replied bluntly, eyes wide as your girlfriend appeared from behind you, jaw slackening at the sight of her. "see something you like then?" she smiled confidently, laughing at your hurried nod.

"you look like a disheveled sexy teacher." you grinned causing the striker to playfully roll her eyes. "didn't know you had a student teacher fantasy love." she teased, glancing over her shoulder as she was called to set.

"not so fast russo." you warned, reaching forward and grabbing at the tie which hung loosely around her neck, using it to yank her forward into a heated kiss, wrapping the material around your fist.

alessia's head spinning she blinked a few times as just as suddenly as your lips met hers you let go and pushed her away with a satisfied smile.

"go on, best be professional now babe." you warned playfully, your girlfriend recovering herself out of her daze.

hearing her name called again alessia stepped forward quickly, pecking your lips a few more times before her mouth moved to brush against your ear.

"the tie is definitely coming home with us."

Can you write a dead on main? Something with a bookstore au please!

Now that I know the ship names, you bet I can! I'll try my best to get through the ones I got requested in the past few days.

Jason liked bookstores.

They were a safe haven for him as a child, even when the fancier ones chased him off when he became a street kid. He adores the various series, the smell of books, and the quiet of stores. Often he thought that they were a small pocket to escape reality.

He had always known he could escape between the pages when everything had been terrible.

Maybe that's what lead him to this store even if it was a bit odd.

It was out of the way by the old docks that Joker used to run, thus making it condemned to the rest of the populace.

An old warehouse turned into a three-story bookstore. The entire first floor was aisles placed in side-way lines with the main counter as its center. The second floor had cozy reading nocks, plush futon couches, pillows, and blankets, complete with a small cafe. The rule was that anyone could take a book off the second-floor walls to read for free.

Employees asked to be informed if any food or damage was done to the second floor since the second book only had one copy of each. The owner would pull one off the bottom floor shelves to replace it.

The final floor had various reading rooms, but Jason loved that each room was based on a book. The room was professionally decorated to the point it left visitors feeling like they actually stepped into the world of the book.

Sculptures, playable settings, phenomenal little details the hard die fans could spot, and even sound systems playing sounds that sounded like the world. Jason could only compare it to Disney World or universal studios. The fact that people could rent the rooms for an hour for only fifteen dollars made them much more popular.

The third-floor rooms- ten in total- would rotate between series after a few months. Hence, the rooms were always different, but inside them were recommended books with the same kind of theme that was always the perfect recommendation, or maybe people just wanted to explore a room of their favorites.

Jason had visited the strange little bookstore with Tim after his brother had gone on a date with Bernard there.

Tim and Barnard had rented the "Hogwarts common rooms" room for three hours. Jason had been amazed by how real the four standard rooms looked, how there were even dragons spitting fire in one corner, moving portraits, a sorting hat ceremony, a small teddy bear decorating corner, and even a wand building second. All for only fifteen dollars. Tim had practically been glowing when he came home with his Ravenclaw bear and his own wand.

And maybe Jason is a huge Harry Potter fan; perhaps it was one of the first things he boned with Tim over, so maybe his brother had taken him to have an experience that he compared to the first time Bruce took him to Universal Studios.

Then he ran into the owner while one of the employees had been helping him pick runes to have burned into his wand.

Jason started to come back for an entirely different reason.

"Hi, Jason!" Elle says when she sees him climbing the stairs toward the third floor. She's the store's co-owner and has gotten to know him on a first-name basis due to how often Jason has visited the store in the past year. If they made a reward points system, Jason knows he be the highest one on the chart.

She's sitting at a table that is decorated like a galaxy. The books for these quarters' room themes are on the table's surface, all with a door key under them and a clipboard for the various hours.

Jason's eyes land on Pride and Prejudice, and his heart leaps.

"Hi, Elle. What's the wait time for door seven?"

She smiles, flipping the clipboard to the time slots. "The Ball at Netherfield Park has a lot of openings today. I got a three, four, six, or seven. When shall I fit thee dance card in milord?"

Jason laughs and checks his phone, ensuring he doesn't need to do anything for a while before saying. "Three will be fine. It's only thirty minutes. I'll go get a coffee while I wait."

She nods, writing his name down for three. She then passes him some disclosure forms he has to sign, forgoes the long-winded explanation of the rules, and sends him on his way, promising to send him a reminder text.

"Just so you know, Ball at Netherfield Park comes with a unique costume option. Five extra dollars to go through our costume section, and you can dress up like Mr. Darcy for a full hour."

Jason shakes his head though it's a very tempting offer. "Thanks, Elle but I'm okay with my street clothes today."

The other shrugs and checks her nails- their asexual theme today, he notes- before nonchalantly commenting. "Too bad. Danny really wanted someone to cosplay with him. Jane Austin's books are less prevalent in Gotham than we thought, and he's been dying to wear his Mr. Bingley outfit. I thought you like to, so I told him to come over when you arrive, but I can text him to cancel-"

"Five dollars, you said? For the full outfit or just like a coat?" Jason ignores her smug expression and quickly places a twenty on the table.

"Full outfit. What do you take us for?"

He glares at her just as the man of the hour himself runs up the stairs. Danny Fenton, founder, and co-owner of Ghost Zone Reads. He's in a light blue Regency period man coat that makes his eyes pop. A pair of white pants that hug his hips and thighs in all the right places, black knee boots, and a black gentle top hat.

Jason's knees go weak at the sight of him.

Danny's face is flush from the run, but his whole face lights up when he sees his sister and her guest. "Jason! I'm so glad you choose the Ball at Netherfield Park experience. I can't wait for our dance."

"Dance?" Jason chocks. Elle chuckles.

"You can't experience a Ball at Netherfield without the ball part dingus." She waves a hand at her brother. "Told him Dick canceled on you, so he offered to step in."

Jason never even mentions Dick to her but he's not about to call her out on her lie. She's doing him such a big favor.

"I always wanted to go to a Jane Austin ball!" He says instead, mentally wincing at how lame he sounds. Thankfully Danny's eyes only light up even more as the other man starts explaining the instructional videos installed in the ballroom mirrors so they can learn the real moves of Contra Dancing.

Jason falls just a tad bit more.

(Elle watches with a fond smile as Jason and Danny get lost in Austin's most significant works. She quickly texts her allies in Wayne Manor under the table. This is a big step in the "Make us in-laws" operation; the Fenton and Wayne children started a few months back. They were all tired of watching Danny and Jason dance around each other. Damian's idea to use Jason's favorite author was working fabulously.)

Hi guys.

I caved and downloaded 1.69 patch to use caw again.

so here some things I have updated with Newville, I took out the warehouse on the docks, there is now 4 new lots to build houses, retextured the docks also.

fixed plants in front on that dock's also, no longer floating or in the area tbh.

added one massive lot size, for the map size it's only 512

the issue I can't fix is seeing the world edges, this would mean me making a direct custom distant terrain, I have no knowledge of this yet, though it's not that you see it apart from map view or if you're near there... painted the sea thou still doesn't hide it...

also two new lots on the smaller docks side cafe and laundromat and a meshed sign.

This does come with s a custom lighting mod within the world itself, to link back to the original post for the download of the cc within the world itself, in this download, this will replace the old version, also i've included the old Boroughsburg files incase, the ones in the final version don't work with this world.

Except there's a twist: Danny adopts Dick, Jason, and maybe Tim.

Danny moved to Gotham (not bad end, but Vlad gets killed, trying to help Danny escape Amity Park, after de aging Dan and Ellie. Fentons, in their confusion and anger, make it even more unsafe for Danny to live there. Fortunately, Vlad made Danny his heir awhile ago, and in leaving, Amity closed their portal and Vlads. Vlad is a full ghost now. So now Danny is a runaway pregnant genderfluid teen that moves to Gotham, whether it be before the wayne murders or after. Jordan isn't born until a year into living in Gotham.)

He sets up a bakery/cafe near crime alley with his apartment on top of it and lab in the basement. He also owns a warehouse that he uses as a storage and training zone. He never makes homeless people pay, and if you can, it's a dollar. Even ghosts show up. He gets to know batman starting out and even maybe starts to court him as bats. They don't officially date until after catwoman reject his proposal, and Damian is permanently with Bruce.

Danny, while not at the circus prior to Graysons' murder, sees an escaped juvie grayson and is able to calm him down, even gets him to speak with his parents again and Danny with the help of Gotham threatens/scares Zucco into fearing for his life. He doesn't bring him back to Juvie but manages to save Dick's things and important paperwork. They declare him missing despite being needed in witness protection. Bruce wants to care for Dick but he doesn't have the same connection to Dick and sees Danny as his own Alfred, when B parents died. Danny raises Dick with a little help from Bruce.

Cannon events also happen, so Two-face and Joker get ahold of Dick for being near Batman and get beaten and shot. Danny brings Dick to the Far frozen and they heal him and he ensures to Two face/Joker that he will feel the same pain as what he has dealt to Dick and almost kills Joker but gets left with a warning.

Court of Owls actually loses Talons to Danny and are his and his kids' bodyguards now while trying to learn how heal them. Unfortunately, Bruce pulls back from the relationship with Danny, and this hurts them both.

Then,when Jason is on the streets, he sticks to near Danny's place and eventually gets adopted, too. Eleanor is born after. Jason loves his new family and is surprised that Bruce is back to dating Danny again. (Which hurts Dick because Bruce only came back for Jason)

In this scenario, Shelia reaches out to Jason for bribery reasons, and when Joker shows up, Danny is having none of it. He kills Mr. J crushes his soul and brings Jason to the Yeti, where he flatlines and gets to become a halfa instantly. This time, Danny is the one that pulls from Bruce as he never found out where Danny took Dick and now Jason to heal. So in the 6 months Jason was in the Zone practicing, Bruce took the worst of it and thought he was dead, but in reality Jason in the zone training with his powers and Dick helps out with his enhanced liminality. What seems like a death to Bruce is a coma or a loss of mobility for Jason. Bruce just assumes he's dead.

Dick grows up to be either a gymnast instructor or a social worker. Jason would be studying for literature or social or justice reform. Dan is a mechanic or security guard. He works part-time at the cafe and helps with branding and making the sweets. Jason, Jordan, and Ellie also help in the shop. Stephanie is a part timer.

Tim, during one of his photoscapedes, gets caught, and Danny and/or the kids save him and bring him to Danny. Tim, while dealing with years of parental neglect, stays with them, or Danny notifies Bruce of this. Either Tim stays with Danny, and despite Drakes having more money and power, Danny's otherness freaks them out and they decide fuck this or similar to cannon, Bruce adopts Tim.

Bruce, by the end of this, officially only has one or three kids: Damian, Cass, and/or Tim.

[I don't know if I want the boys into vigilante. It seems hypocritical for Danny to say no to vigilantism,but in another reality to this one, Danny says yes to the boys being vigilantes]

Hilariously, Danny and his kids show up to a Gala as Masters Heirs.

Jazz moves to Gotham after College to either be a doctor or work in Arkham.

Sam, while trying to leave her parents grasp, goes to Gotham for personal reasons and her parents threaten to cut her off from her inheritance unless she shows up at important events or Galas to support the Manson name.

Tucker is a tech fan and also moves to Gotham, but it is a bit of a recluse, but he takes an interest in teaching Babs, Dick and Tim in Hacking. He is an IT guy for Wayne Industries and an app creator.
