"how do you play a warlock in Pathfinder 2e" - fortunately, and unfortunately, the answer is perhaps fivefold I'd argue, depending on WHAT precisely about the warlock you find appealing: witch, thaumaturge, magus, psychic or oracle.
The PF2E witch is a full spellcaster using intelligence - but they rely on a patron who gives them their spells via a special familiar. Definitely Pact of the Chain warlock vibes. However, way more powerful spellcasting then a 5e warlock, more equivalent to a wizard.
The thaumaturge has strong occult vibes, focused on "esoterica" - magical scraps and relics that empower special abilities. No patron, technically not spellcasting, but a Charisma-based occult magic user that looks sick as hell. Does seem a bit Hexbladey though, given armor and weapon proficiencies and capacity for melee combat.
The magus similarly is a strong melee combatant, with limited spellcasting much more akin to how the warlock pact slots work in 5e (though Intelligence based). They can use spells to empower their weapon strikes, and they can only cast at their highest two spell levels available (though unlike the warlock, these levels go all the way to 9)
If the thing you like most about the warlock is being able to build a mass murderer around a cantrip, the psychic might be right for you. One of their cool base class features is additional psychic-only cantrips, which you can then "amp" for more power and utility.
The oracle, like the thaumaturge, shares more flavor than mechanics with the warlock, and is probably the weakest case for equivalency in this post. They're charisma casters with divine spells, but unlike clerics their power isn't from a god, but rather a "mystery". One of their key features is a curse, which as it's strengthened provides both power and drawbacks. The curse mechanics feel very eldritch.
ANYWAY at first glance I was like "wtf no warlock, that seems like a missed opportunity" but no, Paizo was like "how do you like your warlock?" and served you up a buffet.

Dungeons and Dads! Warlock part two: if your dad was the patron! For this one, it varies on how it happened or how you found out.
Archfey? Your dad taught you how to be a lawyer. And a rules lawyer.
Celestial? Dad taught you the ways of god. Specifically, the ways used by the Spanish Inquisition.
Fathomless? Your dad taught you how to fish and gave you his lucky fishing rod.
Fiend? Dad brought you to the cult meeting.
Genie? Your dad spoils you rotten. He loves you very much.
Great Old One? Dad teaches you. About everything. You must know all.
Hexblade? Dad taught you how to duel!
Undead? You’re not actually sure. You seem different from others. You feel a resemblance to the deceased. You’re not sure why or when this happened, but there was that one time when you were hit by a car, but dad assures you that you were just in a coma. After you woke up, eventually you found quite a few books about the occult in your dad’s room.

This warlock patron is called a Trickster. A Trickster is a powerful otherwordly entity: resourceful, cunning, prone to mischief, manipulative, and deceitful. A Trickster upsets rules and conventions, delighting in pushing boundaries to further their goals.
Tricksters occupy a wonderful and delightful place in mythologies and folklore across all of human cultures, and I think that because often they are powerful with magic abilities, but often not gods, they make perfect Warlock patrons.
This warlock subclass is very unique, mixing abilities similar to a druid (shapechanging), divination wizard (changing rolls), and the rune knight (making others the targets of your attacks).

I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with the "storybook" style of digital art and I thought my OC Evalur would fit pretty well for some practice with it <3 Which also means I have an actual reference for him for his artfight page after like 3 years of Not Making One yippee!!

Dungeons and Dads! Guess what fuckers? This is a two parter! That’s right, we’re doing warlocks! Part one is if your dad was the warlock and part two is if your dad was the patron.
Let’s cover some simple basis first. Pact boons!
Pact of the Blade? Your dad took dueling lessons and will stab someone.
Pact of the Chain? Dad got a new pet. The pet speaks in tongues.
Pact of the Tome? Dad’s writing a novel. No idea what it’s about.
Pact of the Talisman? Dad’s suspiciously lucky rabbit’s foot.
Onto subclasses!
Archfey? Dad met a guy in a forest while hunting. They seem to get along very well. Ever since then, dad’s been a bit… odd.
Celestial? Your dad found god. Not metaphorically, he literally found god. Or so he says.
Fathomless? Dad went fishing and came back with a bucket of tentacles.
Fiend? Dad joined a group who you’re 94% sure is a cult, but he’s having fun so why ruin it.
Genie? Dad bought a lamp from a garage sale and won’t let anyone else near it.
Great Old One? Your dad used to love gazing at the stars with you. But ever since he did it alone that one time when you were sick, he seems very reluctant to look at what might be out there in the night sky. You never took your dad to be the paranoid type, but you can’t help wondering what he means when he says “You never know who could be watching.”
Hexblade? You’re 87% sure dad’s fencing instructor is a witch or evil hag.
Undead? Dad was never quite the same after the accident. He says he’s the same and that he loves you, but you don’t see any feeling behind those eyes of his. At times, they seem almost glassy and cloudy. He hugs you, but you feel no warm embrace. His hands are always cold, and he doesn’t notice when he gets burned while cooking. What happened to your dad?

i recently got the warlock specific character sheet for dnd from @r-n-w ! i'm gonna loosely review it
i only printed it out yesterday, and i play on wednesdays, so i haven't experienced it in action yet, but i think i'll love it! definitely worth the 99 pence
i also haven't printed all the pages yet, just the main page and the spellcasting page, because i haven't filled in the others yet.
the inventory page isn't super relevantly set up for me, a lot of the space is taken up by magic items and scrolls and spells and such, and i have none of those currently, but i may get them later, i've only played 2 sessions so far
there's definitely some things i'd change about this sheet, such as making it landscape, and i might take scissors and cut out the individual parts and stick them onto another paper rotated 90 degrees to make that happen, because i use my dnd binder landscape on account of left-handedness.
one thing i wouldn't change at all, and what is one of the main reasons i bought this sheet is
Tumblr media
everything about each ability score is together, instead of having it all over. it's so easy now to remember what a skill belongs to. this is much better for my brain than the usual set-up
now let's adress the other part of the first photo, i also made spell sheets for Cobalt, matching the character sheet easy, because the font was included (also the character sheet is formfillable amd when opened in adobe uses the font automatically)
r-n-w also sells spell cards i believe, but i just decided to copy what i needed from other sources, and print again when i level up
one thing i miss in the warlock character sheet is an easy place to put my feat. so i also put Cobalt's chef feat next to one of the spells.
i'm excited to level up and get a familiar and use the creature part of the character sheet as well.
@r-n-w also sells sheets for every other dnd class, and lots of other stuff that looks interesting and that i may come back for.
