What if Ivypool, in her grief, wanted someone to blame for her daughter’s death. Ashfur wasn’t enough, because she needed someone to direct her anger to, someone she could see and someone who mattered to be angry at (Ash is double-dead so what does snapping at him do?).
So she chooses Shadowsight. He started this all, didn’t he?
And Dovewing just snaps
She goes off on Ivypool, saying how she has hurt her (Dove) for long enough, and she will NOT be hurting her son too. She deserves to grieve, yes, and she doesn’t deserve her pain, but it’s always HER pain.
Ivypool never once considered how Dovewing felt. She wasn’t even bothered to talk to her before Dovewing left, and didn’t bother talking to her when she returned or when she announced she would be leaving forever for Shadowclan. She hated Dovewing because she got powers, but never wondered how the burden of such a prophecy cost Dovewing.
She didn’t consider why Dovewing didn’t like Bumblestripe and loved Tigerheartstar, nor did she ever respect it. She just wanted her sister to be with someone in the Clan because she didn’t like Tiger and it didn’t matter to her that being with Bumblestripe would have made her unhappy.
And it goes beyond Dovewing, too. She broke her own apprentice’s heart when she refused to help look for her family just because both Dovewing and Tigerheartstar would be on the patrol.
And Dovewing gets it. She gets the resentment when they were apprentices because they were young and Dove was in a prophecy and it was important and ‘cool’, but it wasn’t. Suddenly, Dovewing was burdened by so much responsibility when she was so young. Ivypool did too, training in the Dark Forest, but that was MOONS, even YEARS ago.
Yet Ivypool still resents her for it all, still resents her for following her heart. She didn’t even bother saying hi to Dovewing’s kits, and now she has the audacity to blame one of those kits for getting Bristlefrost killed?

had a Thought abt warrior cats today
so yknow the whole bs with disabled cats not being disabled in starclan?
consider: instead, the terrain of starclan just magically makes itself more accessible. obstacles move themselves out of longtail's way. the ground quivers under snowkit's paws when someone wants his attention. steep slopes flatten themselves before briarlight. etc etc!
that is all, free headcanon, please only take one /j

Procrastinating my homework so here are more of my Wars headcanons
- He is a COUNTRY BOY. He did NOT come from the city, and adapting to city life was really hard for him at first because of how different and overwhelming it was
- Middle child with only sisters. He’s not the oldest kid but he IS the oldest Boy. (This man was raised by women)
- Linkle is his twin and is older than he is and NEVER lets him forget that
- His father was killed in the army when he was young
- His entire family (him included) has curly brown hair, he just straightens his and dyes it and so does Linkle, but she keeps hers curly
- The THICKEST scottish accent you have ever heard, like if the chain thinks Twilight is hard to understand sometimes, they have another thing comin’, but he hides this with a “city” accent (british) so he blends in and sounds more formal (but occasionally his normal accent slips through and startles the others)
- I headcanon him to have facial scarring from the War of Eras, but he covers it to the best of his ability with makeup
- He is the GOD of winged eyeliner, and Artemis is jealous
- After the War ended he was offered a place to stay in Hyrule Castle by Artemis, and while he does stay there for the most part because its easy and convenient with the work he does with Artemis and Impa, he roams around a lot in his free time and finds himself often in small towns
- I headcanon that he hasn’t gone home to see his family in a long time because he’s terrified that he’ll feel like he’s changed too much and can’t fit in there anymore, and if his worry was confirmed it’d break him (he loves and misses his family dearly)
- Linkle is the only family member he’s seen since he left for the war, but he writes home regularly because he misses them
- Fights tooth and nail to keep his facial expression neutral when drinking straight black coffee because he wants to be taken seriously but the truth is it kills him inside to drink
- His favorite fruit is oranges because they’re hard to tamper with and he trusts they’re safe and not poisoned

i know hawkfrost is supposed ‘the spitting image of tigerstar’, so very broad, large, and muscular or whatever but screw canon
i’ve always pictured hawkfrost to take after sasha’s build, lean and long-legged, but has tigerstar’s thick coat
whereas mothwing took after tigerstar, broad and muscular, but has a sleeker coat like sasha
and in my imagination he is always jealous of mothwing for that.

Random LongFire headcannon:
After the FirePaw/rusty vs LongTail battle, FirePaw gave LongTail a flower in an attempt to make up for the injuries he gave him, and LongTail ended up wearing the flower on his tail. Fire continued to give LongTail flowers and LongTail continued to wear them in his tail, around his arms as a bracelet, on his neck as a necklace, behind his ears, and used them and decor for his nest in the warriors (and eventually elders) den.

Warriors headcanon because I said so-
Warriors totally blames himself for the war. Whenever anyone tries to get him to understand that it wasn't his fault and Cia was a psycho, he'd say nothing but secretly he'd be like: "It was totally my fault, I should've given myself up when I had the chance."
Warriors was (and still is in his mind) a Mama's boy. Also, Warriors' mom died during a ambush, she was a soldier in the army and she wished for Warriors to also become one like her.
Warriors' mom was definitely the one to first wear the scarf and when she died, the soldiers took said scarf and gave it back to him as part of his Hero's Clothing.
Warriors definitely has the worst self-esteem in the whole team, he thinks himself as the least of the least and will think of everyone else but himself. He could be sporting a broken rib, a fractured leg and a shattered hand and still fuss over Legend's cut, or Wild's scrap or Sky's sprained muscle.
Whenever this happens, the Chain will threaten Warriors by telling him that they'll bring Time into the discussion and he'll bring the ultimate mother hen, Fierce Deity.
Warriors is the main medic in the team, while Hyrule knows how to heal, he doesn't know how to do it without leaving permanent damage. Warriors, being the war general he is, does know how to how to take an arrow out, how to stop a bleeding wound, etc.
Warriors was made for combating multiple foes at once, not 1v1, so when he began traveling with the Chain, he would always swing in a wide arc. He's gotten better at fighting one opponent but anytime waves after waves of monsters come out, the Chain will split from Warriors to avoid getting hit by his swings. They also know he does better alone in those types of situations and if anything happens their's always at least one person watching from a far, ready to jump in.
Warriors likes keeping up his appearance, it use to be because of his status as a war general but know he doesn't really know why. Also he's got the whole makeup, cream and hair product kit.
The man has a knife almost everywhere on his person, in his boot, underneath his scarf, in his glove, on his hip, on his breast (inside a hidden pocket), etc. He's afraid of getting betrayed like the soldiers did to him during the war.

Since Warriors doesn't do gendered names (except the -flower thing they tried to do in the first series I guess?) I imagine trans cats changing their warrior names to reflect the identity change.
I like to imagine a Clan meeting for that, with everyone shouting the new name 🥺

my most beloved wc headcanon is that firesand are t4t and the reason they only had one litter was bc firestar never got another chance where he felt like the clan was stable enough for him to be absent from his duties for long enough to nurse kits

Headcanon: Warriors hates cinnamon.
Going off the thought that some of the people in his Hyrule despise him/blame him for the war, and in turn try to kill him, it makes sense. Cinnamon is used to cover up both the scent and taste of poison. Warriors would recoil at the smell of cinnamon, and if he smelled it in any food or drink he was given, I think he would have a pretty visceral reaction.
I may or may not have a fic in the works based on this neat lil hc.
(I took Criminology and Forensics for a semester so thanks to those classes for letting me know questionable things)

Dark Forest -- Resembling Deaths
I'm a huge fan of the idea where if someone dies, they resemble what killed them. They won't just show the wound itself, but their body actually changes to incorporate certain signs of their death
Take Perchclaw (oc), for example.
He was bitten by a venomous snake. In the usual version of things, this is seen in the bite mark on his legs.
But in this version of death, he's the one that resembles a snake. Not obviously, no. At first glance, he looks like a cat. He has no scales, he still has his legs. He sounds like a cat, too. You're sure he is a cat. But then you keep looking at him, and you start to notice that something is off. His body is a little longer than that of a normal cat, but maybe he's just a strange breed? Are his fangs a little too sharp, and a little too long? When he eats, does his jaw open a little too wide? When he speaks, you think his tongue might be split, but you can never get a good glance--you're surely seeing things. You hear him hiss, but does it sound almost like a rattle? No, of course not. Surely you're just hearing things (though Perch was bitten by an adder, not a rattle snake, so maybe he doesn't have this part--buy his hisses could sound more like a snake's than a cat's!)
To step away from horror and into some silly, I think it'd also be funny + neat if characters show traits of what killed them in their personality as well.
Continuing with Perchclaw, imagine he just starts to LOVE sunning himself on rocks.
And also maybe he doesn't really notice when he opens his jaws too wide and doesn't understand why cats around him are freaking out.
=====
A final note to add: they wouldn't show EVERY trait of what killed them. For example, as stated, Perchclaw wouldn't have any scales, and he still has his legs. He also wouldn't have snake-vision, but could find that he can smell things easier when he opens his mouth to do it (but might not think twice about it, since tasting the air is normal).

LU Headcanon for Warriors!
A lot of people headcanon that Wars has a thick accent, whatever that accent may be, and I think it's the most posh, fancy, intelligent sounding British accent you've ever heard.
And the thing is, he still hides it. He didn't come from a wealthy background, that's just the way his parents spoke, but there is no way his men would follow a guy who sounded super prim and proper. He speaks with a faint accent, enough to be casual with his men but still seem respectable.
I like this headcanon because I imagine it would be harder to adjust how much of your accent came through as opposed to changing it completely.

more wars headcanons because i started a trend apparently and he’s very important to me so i gotta add to it
- Zelda keeps trying to promote him to general and he keeps refusing, which frustrates her to no end because he deserves a promotion and SO much more, but he never did any of this for the glory or recognition so he’s content staying a captain. He has a group of hand picked soldiers he trusts who serve under him and they love and respect him, he’s trusted them all for years and takes care to know all of their names
- Generally well liked by everyone who knows him. His soldiers would all gladly give their lives for him (he would be terrified to know this), they love and respect him. OTHER soldiers who DON’T serve under him and other citizens of hyrule however still blame him for the war and treat him terribly. They assume he’s cocky and arrogant and want to see him punished, but anyone who’s ever held a conversation with him loves him pretty immediately because he’s kinda and easy to talk to
- The assassination attempts have gotten much fewer and far between, but they never completely stop. He always keeps at least three knives on his person at any given time, and Mask/Time is the only person alive who know where all his knives are
- Well liked as he is by the people who know him, he doesn’t have many actual friends. Most of the friends he made were people from other eras so he can’t really talk with them anymore. He still has a very close relationship with Proxi, Impa, and Zelda, but aside from them he doesn’t feel like he has any other friends
- Proxi took ONE look at this sad pathetic litte guy and was like “I guess I have to adopt him now” and has been a mother figure to him since the day they met
- The War of Eras spanned three years (he was 17-20), and by the time LU happens, he’s around 27. He will never let Legend find this out, because 27 is NOT old, but Legend is nine years younger than him and won’t let him heard the end of it if he finds out he’s in his late twenties
- Time was absolutely mortified when he met Warriors again and realized just how young the captain was during the war, because when you’re 10-13, the 17-20 year olds seem like they might as well be in their thirties
- Warriors took legal guardianship of Mask during the War because it was the only way to let a 10 year old fight in a war. He doesn’t try to parents him, he looks out for him of course, but he lets Mask make his own decisions for the most part (of course he tries to stop him from being an idiot, but he doesn’t have much control over it if the kid just doesn’t listen to him). When Tune showed up, he was 17 and considered old enough to make his own decisions so he didn’t need a legal guardian (he also lied and said he was 18, but it wouldn’t have mattered because Warriors joined the military at 16 and was considered old enough then)
- Link isn’t his first name, it’s his second/middle name but he goes by that instead because it’s shorter, easier, and he likes it better

What hobbies do you think the cats would have? Since cats need a lot of enrichment, I feel like clan culture would become enriched in the arts(second to warrior things though) Like, For Example:
Playing w/ prey -> Competitions for who can drag it out the longest? (I know this sounds morbid but in olden times with less to do, there were more gruesome activities, look up bear-baiting)
Starclan as a religion -> Perhaps, despite being oral tradition, has a firm structure(like Bible?)
Cats wear different accessories for different occasions(vague but it could depend on symbolism)
Hobbies
Thanks for the ask anon! Here’s a list of things I think the cats would have:
Dirt Drawing
Cats will use the dirt patches in camp to draw things!
Sometimes this will turn into competitions or group drawings.
Flower Weaving
Cats will gather various flowers and weave them into each others fur. This time is often paired with Sharing Tongues.
The elders especially enjoy this activity, growing closer with their clanmates as they recall old stories.
Tree/Rock Decorating
Older cats will break down berries and flowers for their color, adding them with water to create a paint of sorts.
Younger cats, or artsy older cats, will use these paints to decorate rocks and trees around camp, or even use them to mark their borders.
Collecting and Nest Decorating
Each cat will often decorate their nest with their favorite things(prey is usually frowned upon, and bones are an oddity), and oftentimes other cats will look out for things others like to help decorate the nests.
Elders often have to most decorated nests, their decorations not only being a symbol of their clanmates love, but their age and time in the clan as well.
Sports and Competitions
Many clan cats partake in sporty activities to keep their bodies prime. This could include racing, climbing, hunting, sparring/wrestling, etc.
Elders who’s bones ache yet still need to move around will often go on walks together, with able bodied warriors standing as guards or help.
Singing
Mothers often sing to their kits to soothe them, and many times singing will continue on. Cats often sing around camp to keep it lively.
Some will even sing in celebration for a new leader or promotion in a cats life.
