just. came across this panel and got unexpectedly and wildly emotional about aizawa becoming a dad. because like. he cares about his students, he's shown time and time again that he'll push them and fight for them against villains and the media and he'll go to his last breath to protect them but like. they're hero students and he's their teacher and he's tough and strict because he has to be to keep them alive. but then like--

it's morning and he's doing her hair. he's got the hair ties with the little baubles on them and he's doing her hair and she's been through so much crap and aizawa's never shown being demonstrably affectionate or enthusiastic around her the way that izuku and mirio are but like. he's been her dependable quiet shadow every time she's shown up in the manga so far, and he doesn't have to be strict or tough with her because what she needs isn't someone to teach her how to save others, it's someone that she can trust to be there when she needs, someone she can trust to do her hair with little bauble hair ties in the morning.

#Sailor Moon #descriptions in alt text #the visual design of the first season really was something #in my heart I feel like it's not Sailor Moon yet bc it was still finding its feet but that also allowed it to be more experimental #I don't think it's better or worse because while I do enjoy the novelty of earlier episodes #they also don't feel like Sailor Moon episodes. A lot of them feel like another show with SM characters randomly in them #which is not a good thing necessarily but they're so interesting it's also not a bad thing. It's just a thing #which you don't really see as often with current anime #you can just really see how they were kind of taking a gamble with Sailor Moon and testing the waters to see what angles would do well #I think it started to understand its actual target audience at around the Rainbow Crystals arc and shifted focus there #which is also when Jupes arrived so the team dynamic really started to take hold & the true appeal of it as a Magical Girl codifier emerged #ANYWAY it was just interesting to note that while Sailor Moon could consistently achieve moodiness and tension visually #the WAYS they achieved that were pretty different in the first half of classic compared to any other season #HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Question how would Daphne be treated in the papalogia au? Because in the story it would be a 100% confirmation that the dragon she say is acno. Also with how obsessed she was I am shocked she didn't have a dragon slayer lacrima.

Okay so. In terms of the Magnolia area, and really all of Fiore, I don't think anything would change. Acnologia is still the only dragon to be spotted, and even though he's flying around, he does make an effort to not be seen. Arguably, he's making more of an effort that canon-Acnologia, who simply did not care. That said, there may or may not be other dragon sightings in other parts of the world, so Daphne may be bolstered in her obsession with dragons all the same.

I don't think it would equate to her getting a lacrima though. Not only are those suckers hard to find and risky, her fascination strikes me as... a mix between scientific and fanatic. Her love and obsession with dragons and learning about them, as well as proving them real, supersedes most rational thought and morals. I mean, she was totally cool in using Natsu as a battery, and given the opportunity, she would have poked at him more I am sure. She seems to me like the Mr. Crocker of Fairy Tail, except with the room to be really amoral and scary for it.

Some peeps know this already but I have flirted with, and sometimes am still flirting with, the idea of a mini arc involving Daphne, except if fanaticism was just a bit more dangerous. The fact that there is a bit more evidence of dragons out there, but the dragon slayers are more tight-lipped about dragons and their own magic in Magnolia, is enough to drive someone like that bonkers. I still don't have solid ideas for this so it may or may not happen in htryds at all; I just... really like mad scientist psycho antagonists, so if I ever get struck by inspiration and want to hit a dragon slayer or three with a really spiky stick... Consider this a forewarning >.>

There was once a Composer called - NULL.

Father tells Joshua a story about a foolish Composer and an event that had a terrible price. I don't know when Joshua would hear the story but I put it roughly around NEO as a part of Father trying to fix things with Joshua. (We'll get to the start of that another day. Given the...stunt, Joshua tried to pull at the end of OG TWEWY.)

Musings below.

There is a bit more to this event, but Father is not sharing that information right now. The attack on the Composer was designed to cause damage to the lower planes and the Composer. Because the Composer spent so much time with the Reapers, and taught them a lot about the planes and themself, it gave them the knowledge the needed to actually cause significant damage.

If the attack had succeeded, and they had defeated the Composer, one of them would have become the Composer and still would have had to clean up their own mess. But at least it would have been a functioning Composer to handle it.

But instead, they didn't, so the region was felt was a partially functioning Composer, unable to help out or transfer their power over to someone who could. Luckily all Reapers had the same training, so they were able to fix things eventually, but not without losses.

Now that knowledge about the planes and the Composer's abilities is not openly shared, so if something similar were to happen to a Composer again, the same damage won't - shouldn't - be possible.

And one more fun fact about the story - Father was there...as a Reaper. Perhaps Joshua will get to learn that, and more details about those events.

i think one of the reasons i’m so drawn to xue yang (besides Hot. and Vaguely Evil) is that every time i see him i’m staring at an alternate universe wei wuxian. he and wwx are absolutely each other’s ‘what could have been’ and watching them interact is so fascinating

#you can so clearly see how despite beginning in the same situation their paths diverged so early on in life #and then we get into the nurture vs nature debate #i’m willing to argue a bit of both here #wwx is so fundamentally justice oriented and we see what lengths he will go to to defend that #literally with his life #i don’t think you could ever change that but i do think the (limited) care of the jiangs certainly shaped him #xue yang seems so fundamentally drawn to cruelty #but it’s hard to see where the pain of abandonment and thirst for revenge separates from his nature #i think he would have always been interested in cruelty i think that aspect of him cannot be changed #if he just wanted revenge he would have stopped at harming those who abandoned him #yet he continued to extremes and murdered entire clans seemingly for fun #i would argue even if he had a loving upbringing that innate cruelty would have still manifested itself somehow #HOWEVER #xue yang with a loving upbringing is still harmful but certainly not to the extent he is without it #i see that version of him as a more twisted wwx type who is into experimentation but ultimately is drawn back to society by his loved ones #they are so fundamentally opposed in their values #and yet on some level they are both that scared abandoned child #mdzs #the untamed #cql #wei wuxian #wei ying #wwx #xue yang #xy #cql meta #the untamed meta #i love 2 am philosophy

Ikutsuki Backstory ideas and other character thoughts

Jotting this down for my own reference for a hopeful future comic about this pun man as well as for anyone interested in the babygirl lmao. Also I can't believe so little exists to help flesh him out more

Persona 3 spoilers under the cut

Ok so I haven't finished the game, but I've sped run reading wikis and watching movies and clips, pardon me if I get any details wrong. I also don't know the other games, but am semi-aware of some of the links between Ikutsuki and them.

Anyway:

Ikutsuki rambling about The Fall and a Prince out of the blue is painfully one of the worst twists I've ever seen 😂 You don't lore drop your way into justifying your motives lmao. I'd have liked some hints about his past, and then a final explanation for it. Whilst I understand it's meant to be a sudden twist, it just turns out anti-climatic and even annoying narratively haha.

So, to fill out how Ikutsuki's backstory, I was thinking it'd be rad if we saw his actual research days with Kirijo's CEO / Mitsuru's gramps. I'd likely scrap that they were actively looking to invoke The Fall, and have them primarily focused on the time-bending abilities of Shadows, all being scientists dedicated to helping humanity genuinely.

I dislike the idea of such a large group of scientists being omnicidal maniacs/Nyx worshippers, so I think simplifying the Kirijo family's guilt to simply accidentally fucking up their experiments and causing such catastrophic change to the world to be a better go at it.

Enter Ikutsuki, who is a part of this research team like every other hopeful/morally decent scientist. The experiment goes awry, Shadows are released en masse, Professoer Shuji Ikutsuki is swathed, bathed, consumed by this writhing dark mass that tells him about The Fall and whispers about the Prince who will be grandly rewarded for it.

In his canon pre-suicide speech, Ikutsuki talks as if he believes the current world has lots of wrong in it, going to the extremes of wanting to cleanse and rebuild it. I think it'd be fitting for him to start off as this hopeful scientist, cheery and dorky, only for him to go through the trauma of direct exposure to Shadows + being the lone survivor amidst the wreckage and dead bodies of his colleagues.

It's a combo of real-life horror and supernatural Persona weirdness that motivates him into being the manipulator/cold scientist he is. Idk if my timeline of events is right, but post-Tartarus formation, ikutsuki kicks off figuring out plans for The Fall in earnest. Prompting his secret research on children for inducing Personas etc. (I think Strega and Ikutsuki weren't involved with each other, so for this I'd say yeah, he'd be the one responsible for that instead of Kirijo group in general.)

Other fun things for him is that surviving the sort of possession by Nyx's fragments during the formation of Tartarus gives him 'the Potential'. AKA he discovers he can exist in the darkest hour, and is eventually the one who researches himself to enable others to do so as well. It's just more reason for Kirijo group to not suspect him, and even owe him for his work.

I'm likely getting plenty of canon timeline of events off, but I think it'd be really cool for the Chairman himself to be similarly affected by the Kirijo group's experiment alongside the SEES members. Albeit, in a way that fucks him up into becoming the antagonist. Not to say he has no free will/is being actively coerced by Nyx, but that singular moment of interacting with the Shadows changed him and his outlook on life quite drastically.

Lastly, I'm pained that he doesn't really fit into the group. I think there's so much potential there for him to actually be a part of the SEES gang, holding some genuine affection that's a remnant of his pre-Shadow affected self, even going as far as having hesitation/second thoughts. Idk lol, canon Ikutsuki's death is waved off with little impact beyond how he killed Mitsuru's dad, when this guy the SEES team trusts/looks for direction kills himself in front of them. There's no emotional pay-off or pain, his death/twist reveal is just an event that happens lmao. I'd have liked to see Ikutsuki genuinely be an adult figure all the kids needed, and for them to feel the sting of his betrayal on a more personal level than what we got.

Anyway, TLDR, I feel like this helps make Ikutsuki a better villain lol. His fingers are in all the pies already!!! Use him!
