i need more c!heatherstrio content that isn’t just “im tommy and my brother is gay and annoying about quackity and im just here to make fun of him for that” like they’re all so GOOD TOGETHER they hung out all the fucking time during pogtopia their dynamic all three is so fucking good like. it’s just so clear they all like each other and like hanging out with each other but are also total assholes who love taking cheap shots at each other and are so often on opposite sides like ruining the others life but can’t help wanting to hang out with each other… like quackity and wilbur aren’t really friends but enjoy each others company too much to be anything else and tommy and quackity shouldn’t be friends but always manage anyway because they’re just fond of each other and tommy and wilbur well they aren’t friends they’re brothers which is something much more evil and all three together is just!!! so much fun. goddamnit. punches a wall.

His Anchor, Her Reason ~ Chapter 1
Chapter 1/?
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3
Chapter Summary - Dream uses Y/n to make Wilbur easier to manipulate. But at what cost?
Series Summary - Throughout the Years Wilbur and Y/n had stuck together. She was the anchor that kept him sane during Pogtopia. But he thought she lost her last Canon Life, he snapped and blew up L'manburg. After his death though, Y/n is found to have a faint heartbeat and is coaxed back to health by Philza and Techno. Even though Wilbur isn’t alive with her, she knows that he wouldn’t want her to give up. He’s her reason to stay alive even when things get tough. But, can she bring him back after he’s been revived?
TW: Blood, mention of injuries, death…?
A/N: … I- I had to stop writing after Wilbur tells Y/n “Close your eyes and rest my love” because I was crying so hard. Not to mention writing everyone reacting to her dying…
(Everyone loves Y/n, it doesn’t matter what side of the fight she’s on. She’s everyone’s little sister unless it’s Wilbur then she’s the love of his life)
(Everyone’s goodbyes are in bold)
༺—–Y/n POV—–༻
I won’t say life was simple, because it wasn’t. Wilbur was always focused on Pogtopia or Manberg. He was always worried about if they were gonna be found. He stressed over me going outside the protecting walls of Pogtopia. He had nightmares of what could happen.
But I was always there. I grounded him and helped him think straight. I made the nightmares go away. I gave him hope. He didn’t think irrationally while he knew I was safe. He didn’t overthink or stress as much.
I was Wilbur’s Anchor.
During the Manberg vs. Pogtopia War, Wilbur and I had been taken where everyone could see us. Dream had pulled me from Wilbur and held a knife to my side, threatening Wilbur, telling him that if he says or does the wrong thing, I would get hurt. Dream knew exactly how to control Wilbur.
But even though Wilbur had given Dream satisfactory answers and did everything he was told. Dream knew the only way to manipulate Wilbur fully, was to take away the only thing holding him together. Dream wanted what Wilbur couldn’t accomplish with me around.
So Dream did the only thing he could, he plunged the blade as far into my side it could go, as I let out a pain-filled scream. But before pulling out the blade he whispers,
“I’m so sorry my friend. I will find you again and revive you. I promise.”
He pulls out the blade with a sickening sound, and let me drop to the ground with a painful thud.
Everything began to feel distant as I began to lose more and more blood. I could hear Wilbur yelling my name, I could see him fighting whoever was holding him back. I could hear Tubbo and Tommy yelling for someone to help as they tried to fight their way towards me. I heard Techno trying to reach me as he begged Dream to stop, but like everyone else, he failed.
My eyes began to close as my body grew cold. I tried to fight the numbness, but I was losing.
“Y/n, darling, please keep your eyes open!” I could faintly hear Wilbur crying from where he had fallen to the ground. “Please, don’t leave me! I need you!”
In every story, there was that one character who had a reason to want to live. It didn’t matter what had happened to the character, they survived because their reason was stronger than death itself.
Wilbur is my Reason.
But I was so tired. I had never felt sleep be this heavy before. It was like a weight that refused to lift, no matter how strong you are. Oh, how I wish that this once, I could overcome the weight and stop Wilbur’s tears, stop Tommy and Tubbo’s screams for help, and stop Techno’s begging. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t.
༺—–Wilbur’s POV—–༻
I could feel myself slowly losing control over the rational side of my brain. Y/n is laying there, her blood pooling around her, and I’m being held back by this asshole who doesn’t seem to understand that Y/n is dying!
“Wilby, I’m tired,” Y/n says, reaching out towards me. “I’m cold and tired.”
My heart breaks, and my body gives out. Dream won’t let me go until he knows for sure I can’t help her. But she sounds so weak, so fragile. All I want to do I hold her in my arms, but I can’t. I look at the ground as tears stream down my face. I couldn’t protect the one person that means the world to me.
My head flies up as I hear Techno yell,
“No!”
And Y/n lets out yet another blood-curdling scream. Dream had stabbed her leg, causing even more blood to leave her already pale body.
“Let him go,” Dream said, turning towards the guard holding me.
The guard releases me and I immediately rush to Y/n’s side. Pulling her carefully into my arms.
“Wilbur?” She calls weakly.
“I’m here baby, I’m here.”
Techno, Tommy, and Tubbo and let up to us. Techno immediately tends to Y/n’s wound on her side, trying to stop as much of the bleeding.
“Wilbur, I’m tired,” She says, trying so hard to keep her eyes open.
Now that I’m holding her, I can feel how uneven her breaths are. She’s trying so hard to stay awake.
“It’s gonna be okay darling… Close your eyes and rest my love…” I tell her, seeing her body relax knowing that we’ll be okay.
I hum her favorite song to her, as her breathing begins to steady. I lay her in the grass before kissing her cheek. Isn’t it funny how her story ends in her favorite field of flowers?
I stand up, looking at all the faces of our friends, her friends. Tears streaming down all their faces. I can only guess what goodbyes they are silently saying.
I turn away from everyone, heading to the one place I know I shouldn’t go to. But I don’t care anymore.
༺—–3rd Person—–༻
As Wilbur walks away, each person left behind weeps for Y/n. Hoping that somehow, she could survive this. They watch as Techno does whatever he can to keep her alive.
Her breathing becomes so slow that it looks as if she isn’t breathing. Techno, who is still putting pressure on her wound begins to think that it’s too late.
“NO! NO, COME ON Y/N BREATHE FOR ME, FOR US! PLEASE WAKE UP! You’re Y/n… and I’m Techno… We never die…”
Everyone’s hearts sink as Techno falls forward into Y/n’s shoulder. The girl he has always seen as a sister is gone. He cries, no one has seen him cry and it causes everyone to lose hope.
“Please don’t leave me Y/n! Please just stay with me!” Tommy cries as he sees her still body.
Everyone silently says their goodbyes or their prayers to Y/n. Hoping that somehow, she’ll hear them.
“Come on Y/n, don’t leave me now… We still have so much left to do my friend,” Jack whispers, wiping tears from his eyes.
“Come on Y/n, you have to wake up mamasita, please don’t leave me,” Quackity says as he watches Techno try to shake you awake.
“I would travel 1,000 years back just to see you again…” Karl says, letting the tears flow freely, thinking back to all the good memories you two had.
“Silly muffin…” BadBoyHalo cries as he grips the chair in front of him for support.
“Goodbye, my princess. I’ll never forget you” Eret cries. “I guess it was never meant to be…”
Tubbo kneels next to Y/n and kisses her forehead. “Fly high with the bees Y/n.”
Sapnap looks up into the sky, imagining Y/n is smiling down on everyone, “Thank you for all the memories, I love you so much, little sis. Promise not to forget about me, okay? We’ll meet again someday…”
Niki falls to her knees hiding her face in her hands as she cries out, “Out of everyone to die, why you?”
“Fly high Y/n, fly high…” Foolish says quietly while looking into the sky.
“Goodnight darling, your work is done…” Ponk chokes out, tears pooling in his eyes.
“I’ll make that statue you always wanted… Okay, Y/n? That way no one can forget you…” Purpled says through tears, as he sinks to the floor.
“May they treat you better up there than they did down here little one…” Sam says, turning away from Y/n’s still body.
“You can’t leave me Y/n… Who will troll BadBoyHalo with me?” Skeppy laughs through the tears
“You can’t leave us yet flower… We still need you…” George says, hugging himself as he cries.
Fundy makes his way to the small group huddled around Y/n, falling next to her and taking her hand. “If you leave, who will be there to be like the mother I lost? I can’t lose another mom Y/n!”
Fundy’s cries broke everyone watching. Even Wilbur heard from where he had been walking away. He froze and slowly turned around to see everyone crying, trying to make sense of it all. Y/n was the light of the SMP, what was life gonna be like now?
Punz was silent until he watched Techno lift Y/n’s body. After that, he broke.
“You had a great life down here sis, but I bet you’ll have an even better one up there…” Punz says betweens choked sobs.
Up above, Schlatt is watching everything unfold, not able to tell what happened. He turns to see Y/n appear faintly next to him.
“Hey Y/n, it’s nice to see you up here. W-wait… No! Why are you here!?!”
But before he can get a response, Y/n vanishes from his side, and a small breath comes from her still body that Techno now carries far from everyone.

It’s that time again! It’s c!Sapnap (and c!Karlnapity) during Manberg era brain rot again!
(All names are referencing the characters, regardless of if I add c! or not. No cc! are mentioned in this post).
c!Sapnap was directly loyal to c!Dream, but he wasn’t employed by the Greater Kingdom like the Knights of Eret. Whenever Dream went to meet with Schlatt for politics stuff, Sapnap would go along as Dream’s personal guard. (Even though Sapnap was aware of Dream’s visits to Pogtopia, he stayed in Manberg to spend time with his fiancé, Karl.)
c!Sapnap thought c!Quackity was an asshole at first. Sapnap really only knew about Quackity through George, and he wasn’t particularly impressed by George’s descriptions. Sapnap’s impression only got worse when Wilbur and Tommy were exiled. Sapnap rarely ever interacted with the Manberg cabinet anyway because Schlatt would kick everyone out of the room when Dream visited. Sapnap would wait by the door, but the rest of them would scatter to catch up on work.
Sapnap wasn’t fond of c!Karl decision to move to Manberg. Karl originally moved to Manberg for work and “to experience new horizons”. c!Sapnap chose to stay in the Greater Kingdom, partly for work and partly because he just didn’t like Manberg. This postponed their wedding date from “sometime in autumn” to “indefinite”.
Sapnap and Karl used to have “drinks nights” where they would sit at home and cozy up with some new hot drink Karl was trying. Usually it was a new tea blend, typically iced tea during the summer. On colder days, it was coffee or a special recipe for hot chocolate. When Karl moved to Manberg, Sapnap was only able to visit during daylight hours, crammed within his busy schedule (courtesy of Dream), so they didn’t have date nights as often anymore.
Karl was the first new citizen of Manberg., and c!Quackity was the one to directly host Karl’s citizenship test. They immediately hit it off. c!Karl was just a random citizen of Manberg that c!Quackity would find solace in during the worst times in the Manberg cabinet. Once a week, Quackity would spend his lunch break (which he usually doesn’t even bother to take the rest of the week) at Karl’s to try out some new tea blend or drink recipe. They were always tooth achingly sweet.
Sapnap was wary of Quackity, but he was absolutely enamored by Karl’s rambling prose about the Vice President. Sapnap could tell that Karl was falling in love with Schlatt’s husband, and Sapnap honestly couldn’t say that was a bad thing. He saw how Schlatt mistreated his cabinet when Schlatt had guests, and he could only assume the worst when there weren’t prying eyes.
When Dream suddenly switched sides after some mystery deal with Schlatt, Sapnap was very vocally against it. He still fought by c!Dream’s side though and was granted full command of Manberg’s soldiers. Sapnap wasn’t very keen on giving them a fighting chance, not when he was quietly rooting for Pogtopia. (He had been craving bloodshed though, so he still put in the effort.)
After c!Quackity shot c!Schlatt and ran away to Pogtopia, Karl decided to join Schlatt’s cabinet when everyone else abandoned ship. He constantly undermined Schlatt’s orders, purposely fucked with the paperwork, and actively sabotaged everything. Sapnap was leading the crumbling Manberg military, so no one dared to call Karl out. Karl was very proud of that.
Sapnap and Karl had an open relationship throughout their entire time together. Sapnap had been in QPR with Dream and George since forever, but Karl was actively polyamorous. They had never had a third together though.
Apparently, Quackity never knew Karl was engaged to Sapnap despite their long term engagement being a hot topic among the mass populous of the Greater Kingdom. Karl had taken that little tidbit for granted, not realizing that Quackity had never lived in the Greater Kingdom and therefore was not exposed to its rumors and gossip articles.
c!Sapnap was very understanding of Quackity’s upset at the revelation. Although he didn’t have the best first impression of Quackity, he was aware Quackity made Karl happy. Much like that first day with Karl, Quackity and Sapnap immediately got along (sometimes at Karl’s expense), so Karl offered up a relationship between all three of them.
It just felt right with the three of them, so they decided to close their relationship. (Then George got pulled in as a queerplatonic fourth after Dream abandoned him and Sapnap).

In a rich man's world

I wrote this in a day be proud yall :)
A C!Schlatt b̶l̶u̶r̶b̶ imagine (platonic)
+ C!Wilbur x reader (established)
⚠︎ swearing, manipulation (?), drinking, smoking, mentions of weapons. I didn't proofread
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"STAY THERE. Dont come for me until I say that its safe. I know Schlatt will follow you so dont come-"
"GET EM OUT OF HERE!"
"Stay my love!"
Tumblr media
This wasnt what you expected when Wilbur said to stay. You didnt think that staying in Manberg would insue that Tubbo would be considered Schlatt's vice president and you becoming his "First Lady".
He said in his own words, "Im interested in you. To be honest I don't know how someone like Wilbur can get a woman like you."
You took that to heart instantly. You and Wilbur were together for a reason. You loved him and he loved you. You and Wilbur built L'Manburg, you followed his dream and right now you are watching his dream, firsthand, be destroyed. You had watched him loose the election by 1 percent to Quackity and Schlatt and immediately after that get run out of his own country by the man he now despises. The man that's now your president.
Late at night you remember the faces of Tommy and Wilbur who were standing in the middle of a crowd of archers, their arrows pointed towards them as you tried to push your way through to get to Wilbur. He finally grabbed your arm and took off running, dragging you along with him.
The three of you finally came to a stop by a river when he said those words to you. Wilbur had told you to stay with Tubbo until things blew over and the two of you could see eachother again. Tommy continued to yell in the background that they should continue to run, Wilbur tried to give you one last hug when he was ripped away by Tommy.
You stood there breathless as arrow whipped past you and nearing your feet. You heard footsteps behind you. Thinking it was either one of the archers behind you, you didn't move until a hand was placed upon your shoulder. Discomfort flew through your body as your mind caught up to the idea that Schlatt was behind you.
"Dont watse your time. You heard the man." Schlatt said as he ended up walking away leaving you stunned.
He was an asshole and he knew it too. You could probably tell he was smirking as he walked away. That bastard just came all the way here just to taunt you and then leave. You ended up going back to the podium where you met with everyone else who didn't chase after Wilbur and Tommy.
Your mind was filled with hatred for Schlatt and uncertainty for the future. With Wilbur you had a future already made in L'Manburg, you two were going to get married, have children, reign in L'Manburg, but now what?
Schlatt ended up asking both you and Tubbo to come up onto the stage during his second presidential speech. You both stood, one on each side, of Schlatt uneasy. You were figeting while you awaited the reason why he brung both Tubbo and you up there. Tubbo looked anxious, he was flinching everytime Schlatt motioned towards him. You wish you both could find some comfort in this situation, but you couldn't grasp onto anything.
Schlatt then announced Tubbo as his vice president and you as his first lady. And that's where you are now, in a huge room with a round table sat in the middle. George, Quackity, Tubbo and you were sat around it the 5 of you barely taking up the huge meeting table.
That place is where he said those words to you, that he found you interesting and belittled your and Wilbur's relationship. That's where you realized he was doing this on purpose. Everything had begun to clear up in your mind as the days went on.
Time was passing and you haven't seen Wilbur in days. It was tiring and both Tubbo and Schlatt saw this.
Tubbo and you began to take nightly walks after working for the ram-man to blow off steam and complain. You always found yourselves following the path the Tommy and Wilbur took before stopping and wondering which way they went. Soon those walks became more informative because Wilbur gave Tubbo the green light, and gave him the coordinates to their hideout. He had told you that Wilbur knows that Schlatt is keeping an eye on you and it's safer until Schlatt lets his gaurd down.
Tubbo told you one night that Wilbur had teamed up with Technoblade, and made the underground city Pogtopia. He said it looked beautiful down there and that you'll love it. He also told Wilbur that you were Schlatt's first lady and he freaked out. After realizing that Tubbo kept telling you what was happening, you decided to make Tubbo your messenger boy until you could see Wilbur and Tommy again. It was sad that this was the way you two had to communicate, but whatever it takes for everyone to be together.
Schlatt on the other hand. He noticed you moping around in meeting rooms and while writing decrees. Schlatt wasn't good with words, we all know that, but he was good with material things. As days passed by and letters were written you began to find jewelry on your nightstand, gleaming in the moonlight without a note. More things began to show up in your bedroom, that Schlatt had given you. You said you were uncomfortable with sleeping in the same room and after a little bit of back and forth he obliged.
Bracelets hung on your doorknob, rings on your bed, enchanted weapons, basically anything that shined was in your hands.
Schlatt had even invited you to have a one on one meeting with him about a new decree he was working on. He sat at the head of the table while you sat on the side of him.
Schlatt slid the papers over to you, a cigarette lazily hanging from his mouth. You had gotton used to the smell of alcohol and cigarettes while being around Schlatt because that's what he smelled like 24/7.
"So what do ya think?" Schlatt ssid while blowing out smoke.
"It's sucks!" You said in disbelief.
"I want you to rewrite it then." He leaned back inhaling more smoke.
"What?!"
"You heard me broad! Write my decrees from now on." Schlatt said getting up from his chair.
He had put a table against a wall that was placed there for types of alcohol he wanted during a meeting. He grabbed a huge wine glass and a full bottle of red wine. He opened the bottle and drank a little from it before pouring a full glass apparently for you. He offered you the glass, slightly sitting on the table infront of you.
"I dont wanna do this shit anymore. It's boring so you'll do it for me. You know, I was gonna have Quackity do it, but. No. Just no." Schlatt shook his head as drank straight out of the bottle.
You smirked as you drank from your glass as well. You knew he was lying. You just didnt know the exact reason why. At this point you didn't care, you had the power you and Wilbur wanted in the first place, everything seemed to be coming full circle for you.
The decree was sitting right in front of you next to the cigarette Schlatt placed there, not caring if his cigarette was put out or not. You remembered the jewelry and weapons he had brought you to cheer you up and the fancy red wine and the glass that held it that shined like diamonds.
Schlatt finished his bottle of red wine and slammed his bottle onto the table. He rolled his head around and groaned. Schlatt turned his head to look at you from his seat on the table.
"So whaddya think?"
Maybe you could stay for a little longer.

the reason why I'm a c!wilbur apologist is because literally I cannot look at him as anything but any other asshole who happens to be mentally ill. his actions aren't even particularly evil or even manipulative (I think some people in this fanbase think that "manipulation" is just telling someone to do or stop doing something). I rewatched the pogtopia arc yesterday and the dude snaps like. twice. 3 times if you count the button room chat with q and tommy, but I see that as more of a last-ditch cry for help. granted, it's scary for an adult figure whom you trust to suddenly not act like themselves. but wilbur was pretty emotionally reserved and stable in pogtopia. mostly he just disappeared for days and tuned in to check on tommy and help him spy on Manburg. so yeah, I seriously don't get where the fuck the "vilbur" bit came from. dude was evil like. 3 times. and honestly, I don't blame him! on a server like the dream smp, being a little bit amoral is like therapy! (cough, tommy torturing fundy and connor while with technoblade, cough) perhaps it's because it's in such stark contrast to the man he began as, (again, like tommy during his stay with technoblade. people thought he was becoming a villain bc of how different he was from the person he started as) or maybe it's people being afraid of something they can't understand and extrapolating on it. but then again, 2 years ago, I wasn't this fucked up either. isolation does that to a motherfucker. but in the end, wilbur was a man who lost control of the situation and himself and just... retreated into himself. then self destructed with a bang. there was no obsession with tommy or serious attempts to isolate him (he told tommy to stay away from tubbo once and didn't follow up on it again.), no physical abuse (technoblade beat tommy up, wilbur was the one to suggest a fight. still fucked up but techno really did just jump at the chance to beat up a child huh), no lavish plots of manipulation, no plots to rule the world. the man was just a dude who became fucked up and then wanted to die. so in conclusion, petition to change character wilburs status back to Just Some Guy rather than Evil Manipulative Mastermind. because not only does it humanize the mentally ill, but also because it fits him so much better. he's not a story. he's just a man

Why are discs so important in DSMP? Also why is c! Dream such a fucking asshole and a tyrant?
@bridgebardevan
the discs are important because tommy is important to dream.
more specifically, the discs Were important because dream saw them as the center to a mutual game that he was playing with tommy that the rest of the server just acted as the board for.
it wasn't always like that because Dream wasn't always like that (the seeds for it were always there mind, but he's undeniably gotten worse).
this is going to be ungodly long, so I'm using a cut for once
the discs are important to Tommy because in a world where things get stolen Constantly he's managed to keep them and love them. they're important because they were Allowed to be, because he was Allowed to grow attached. which is exactly why dream targeted them when tommy was dragged into a conflict by sapnap.
the actual fight doesn't matter, what matters is that sapnap and tommy got a win on dream and sapnap gets a free pass for being a part of the dream team while tommy doesn't. so dream steals tommy's discs because they matter to him. and thus a game is started.
dream steals tommy's discs and tommy tries to take them back. a simple game that dream put everything into. from tunneling into tommy's walls, digging up his entire yard, ending stream in tommy's disc room so he can log on as soon as tommy pulls them out, etc. it was genuinely ridiculous (and also pretty funny jklafsd). it grew in importance To Them the longer that it went on because this rivalry was now a part of the mix. it was no longer just "the discs that tommy cares about," they were "the discs at the center of dream and tommy's war."
it's because of this rivalry that you can Feel dream's focus on tommy during the l'manberg revolution, despite the fact that the leader and creator was wilbur. dream's declaration of war Starts with addressing tommy, it has insults like "l'man-childburg" (obviously targeted at tommy over wilbur), dream's griefing efforts during the war had a notable bend towards tommy (as they always did). and when the time of the final control room came they labeled the chests the hidden passageways were attached to, dream Chose to kill tommy specifically over anyone else in l'manberg (over wilbur, despite them both being faction leaders).
this all culminated in the duel and the trade that followed. dream had been willing to kill to crush l'manberg and had been threatening to do so from the beginning (back in his declaration of war), but here he was accepting a duel from tommy despite having already won, despite wilbur (the leader of the l'manberg) offering their surrender.
l'manberg is the stage set for his game with tommy, a new toy for them to fight over, and the duel was another game they could play. when dream wins the game is over, but if he accepts the discs as his prize then that leaves Two games free to play. the five deaths are worth two discs because they were All a part of the same game in the first place.
tommy, for his part, is aware of this rivalry but he is Not aware of how far it extends for dream. the discs mattered to him because he loved them, his friends mattered to him because he loves them, his home mattered to him because he loved it. he gave away the discs for l'manberg and for his friends knowing that dream would want to fight over them, but he put his very life on the line Twice. he wasn't playing a game at this point, dream was.
the discs were put on hold during the elections arc and largely put on hold during the pogtopia arc (there were some minor skirmishes when there was the time for it, but they were never made the center of the conflict) specifically Because tommy took the situation seriously. because he cared about his friends and his home. the discs were always Third. something that he cared about but that was only his to worry over.
some important things to note here at this point: tubbo willingly joined the disc war after he insisted that he has beef against dream too (which he did. dream's griefed his base and killed his pets plenty of times, dream's declaration of war Started with destroying tubbo's house), tommy Never forced him to join and tried to tell him that he didn't have to. moreover, when he had them tommy gave one of his discs to tubbo out of a sign of his trust for him. this is going to be important later.
dream's fixation on tommy didn't pause with the disc war however, far from it. dream's fixation on tommy was evident from the moment wilbur and tommy were exiled from l'manberg. from dream messaging tommy in private (and Only tommy) asking if he was okay, to dream leaving tommy a chest full of High Quality items along with the book "Tyrant" [Link]. tyrant, addressed specifically to tommy, is dream declaring his loyalty and friendship with tommy, disparaging schlatt as a tyrant that doesn't abide by wilbur's morals, all while insisting that dream Has to stick to the shadows because he's suddenly bound the rules and he doesn't want to be painted as a villain.
I have a whole post about this [Link], but I think it's very telling that dream both insists that he's always been on tommy's side And implies that his hands are tied specifically Because l'manberg won it's independence. dream would Love to help, if only schlatt hadn't been elected democratically (something that's only possible Because l'manberg invented democracy). dream would Love to help, if only he wasn't painted as a villain (something that only happened because he threatened to kill everyone in l'manberg over its independence and then Acted on that threat. nevermind that before this point wilbur insisted that they treat dream and the smp as a whole like neighbors, and everyone was friendly with dream after the war was over).
still, dream's angle here in the earliest days in pogtopia was as an ally. he gave tommy things, he met with techno in person to supply him with less. and he'd back this up with the pet wars with sapnap (wherein sapnap accidentally killed tommy's cow henry and niki's fox, with them both trying to get revenge). dream helped tommy destroy builds that were important to sapnap (the eiffle tower where sapnap and karl were going to get married) and offered tommy sapnap's fish mars (which is significant because it was one of the oldest pets on the server, having been there longer than tommy, in a world where pets very rarely survive), on top of being there to fight with tommy in person in the battle of the lake.
dream claimed that he was just there to cause chaos, which is probably true considering that's all dream is ever after, but it's significant because of who the other party is. once upon a time dream Only stole the discs from tommy because even though sapnap had dunked on him first and harder, sapnap was his friend. now we have dream just Handing tommy sapnap's most prized possession in a conflict that dream isn't emotionally invested in.
sapnap calls dream a traitor, and rightfully so.
still, dream being on tommy's side doesn't last, and his open support of pogtopia doesn't last.
first we have dream enabling wilbur by supplying him tnt. wilbur's mental breakdown is advantageous to dream because despite how flowery he talks about l'manberg in "tyrant," finding a way to destroy it within the rules set is his half of the game started with the declaration of war and continued with the duel.
he's not allowed to just destroy l'manberg himself anymore because he gave it its independence, but if Wilbur wants to destroy it then well, that's a way to win isn't it.
second we have dream changing course entirely to side with schlatt. this may seem counterintuitive to all the work he put into the start of the war, but it really isn't.
wilbur is already far enough along his death spiral that dream feels confident in l'manberg's eventual destruction, and if he isn't then well. starting a rumor about a traitor in pogtopia (digging at fears that dream himself planted by bribing eret into betraying l'manberg in the original war for independence) can help drag wilbur down even farther in his absence.
and tommy? dream will say that he was never on tommy's side in front of other people, but when tommy's alone it's a different story. when they're Alone dream can openly hang out with him joking all the while and tommy will reciprocate. dream killed him twice and then turned around and hung out with him, he knew that tommy would accept him again.
but why take the risk? why end the good thing he had going with pogtopia? a new piece put on the board that only he and schlatt knew about at the time, something that'd be raised Above the discs eventually. but we'll get there.
dream gets everything he wanted out of this. l'manberg is blown up, schlatt dies, wilbur dies. just before this wilbur tries to hand tommy the presidency and tommy turns it down (while wilbur passes it off to tubbo). he wants to get his discs back, and he doesn't want that to be made into l'manberg's problem (because the rivalry is Separate from l'manberg to him, and discs do not come first). he locks eyes with dream and dream laughs.
dream happily tells tommy that the traitor that he made up was wilbur.
the board is reset. l'manberg rebuilds, they scrape together a cabinet (wherein tommy is the vice president despite his protests), new homes are built, and a new rule set is established for one player.
tubbo has one disc, skeppy has the other. dream has to Earn his prizes.
first he recruits puffy into helping him frame tommy for griefs all over the server, from eret's castle to bad and skeppy's base. [Full list of crimes here [Link]] puffy thinks they're pulling a fun prank, dream is well aware of how angry people truly were (not eret, she's a g). dream framed tommy first with signs left at the scene of the crimes, and second with private messages to the victims wherein he played dumb but ultimately helped implicate tommy (bad Almost burned the disc skeppy had that day, can you even imagine).
it was pure luck that tommy and ranboo pranked george's house before word of dream's sabotage reached the cabinet.
here's what the prank actually was for those who don't remember or who weren't there: tommy and ranboo robbed george's chests, then they built netherack dicks on his lawn and lit them up (because then there'd be flaming dicks on his lawn you see). the dicks accidentally lit two blocks on the roof on fire, which they then frantically put out before it spread. ranboo left a sign.
and that was the extent of the prank.
the damage was fixed within minutes, george pranked tommy back by building mushrooms on his lawn with funny pictures on them (and thought about stealing from tommy's dirt shack but didn't). that should've been the extent of it, in any other situation it would've been.
the trial and tommy's exile was a calculated move, both to eventually get a hold of all of tommy's discs and to isolate and get control over tommy. it was only sheer chance that tommy was put on trial for a crime he actually committed (by this point Both dream and jack manifold had been framing tommy for crimes), and the only evidence at the scene that it was tommy was the sign that ranboo had left. george himself had exacted revenge the way the server had intended, and even when he'd been roped into the trial by dream he was content with tommy's probation. dream was not.
some people argue against this fact, they say that dream was only acting because tommy was vice president and george was the king of the smp, they say that dream was going to leave it at probation until tommy provoked him. this is provably untrue
1: what right does dream have to demand tommy's disc in this situation. it's tommy's private property and george's house had already been fixed. tommy was right to point out that that was unfair and unrelated.
2: dream had been intentionally provoking tommy throughout the entirety of the trial in his private messages. tommy didn't Surprise dream by acting up during the trial, dream had been fishing for that response in the hopes that he could use it to get tommy in trouble faster (which he did).
3: l'manberg had relentlessly pranked eret's castle back when the war for independence had just finished (ie, back when eret was the king). there was an entire prank war between eret and fundy. dream never once took issue or stepped in. it only largely calmed down after eret put up protective pride decorations, thus deflecting griefing for fear of homophobia/j. and even then, people still regularly steal from her to this day. before niki and jack joined all of l'manberg was a part of the cabinet in the early days. tommy was the vice president when he griefed eret and his house was the embassy for the country at the time ! why would he think this would be any different.
4: the terms of probation were vague on purpose so tommy could be pushed into being exiled anyways. the terms were that tommy could be exiled if he stepped a Toe out of line in the entire time of the probation (until he turned 18, which was established in character to be two years away). dream had already framed tommy for crimes, jack had already done the same, and tommy is tommy. moreover, dream would prove later that he wasn't above destroying the community house and pinning it on tommy to get what he wants. tommy following his probation Perfectly would've only been delaying the inevitable. dream was Going to exile him one way or another.
what we have to understand here is, tommy recognizes that dream is being unfair but he doesn't have the context to understand Why any of this is happening. he's fighting for the discs here not because he puts them Over the law or over l'manberg or over his friends, he's fighting for his discs because he knows Full Well that dream has no right to be doing any of this. imagine your teacher demanding you give them the xbox from your house because you acted up in school, I don't think it'd be fair for your parent to say that you don't value their authority if you get upset when they drive it down to hand it over.
dream saw the discs as the most important aspect of the game he was playing with tommy and he assumed Tommy felt the same, tommy wasn't playing a game at this point. he hadn't been for a long time.
its important to note that this is exactly where the discs changed meaning. for tommy, for tubbo, for the server, and for the fandom. and it's entirely down to dream and the lack of information we had at the time.
dream insisted that he needed the disc because of the power it had over tommy, tommy recognized that this was unfair but Didn't deny this both because he was overwhelmed and because he didn't think he had to, tubbo had always been a part of the disc war for Tommy's sake but now he believes that tommy is holding the discs above everyone else when they have no value, the fandom largely turned against tommy for fighting back blaming tommy's exile and the bad position tubbo was put on on tommy's attachment to the discs.
what we have to understand here is that dream pulled back part of the curtain, and tommy recognized what it told him without seeing the full picture, while the people around him did not.
I have an entire post that covers this and provides evidence for it here [Link] but lets take a look here for a second:
Dream: “I don’t give a fuck about Spirit- I don’t care about anything actually. I care about your discs. I care more about your discs than you do. That’s the only thing I care about on this server actually. (…) I care about your discs because that’s what gives me power over you and your friends and everybody that you care about. Because you care about your disc more than anyone else here.
So if you are not exiled from l'manberg I will build these walls until they hit block limit. I will keep everybody inside, I will hire guards [Punz and Sapnap] to patrol all around the entire walls keeping them inside. No trade, no one leaves, no armor or they get slaughtered inside."
(space for more of the threat and tommy continuing to try to save himself and l'manberg with spirit)
Tommy: "Well this is the only thing you've had attachment to this entire time, how do I know you're not fucking lying."
Dream: "I have attachment to your discs." Tommy: "Why would you care about- they're my discs why would you even care about them." Dream: (overlapping) "No no no, Tommy. Tommy, they're my discs. I'll get them, I'll keep them, I'll put them in my enderchest, and I will keep them for the rest of the server." [End transcription]
first of all, that's an awfully Specific threat for someone who supposedly would've been satisfied with tommy's probation. second of all, you see what I mean?
dream Openly Admitted that he only wanted the discs because of the power that they gave him over tommy and the rest of the server. tommy doesn't understand Why dream feels this way, he never put the same value in their game that dream does and at this point he doesn't realize that dream is still trying to play it. they're My discs, why should they even matter.
but he did come to accept that the discs have power to dream, and if they have power To dream then that should mean that they have power Over dream. what tubbo (and a significant portion of the fandom) took out of this was that tommy was the one with an unhealthy fixation on the discs, what tommy took out of this was that the discs are his only option for getting power over dream and being able to save himself and l'manberg from dream.
dream does get one of tommy's discs (the one skeppy had), dream does march tommy to exile, and in the meantime he offer's tubbo his friendship in a bid to eventually pry the second disc from him.
dream had a partial victory with the discs and he was working on a full victory in the background, but in the meantime he was working on a project much more valuable than the discs on their own. another kind of game for him.
dream came to sam with designs for a prison not long after tommy was officially removed to exile. dream didn't allow people to follow him and tommy to logsted, not wanting people to have access to tommy, and we'd get evidence that dream actively discouraged people from visiting and intentionally lied to both them and tommy to keep them out.
I don't think I Have to say what dream's aim with tommy's exile was, but I'm going to. dream kidnapped and isolated him, kept people from knowing exactly how bad the situation was, and actively abused and controlled him to try to mold tommy into being subservient and dependent on him. all the while pandora's vault was in construction behind the scenes.
exile is a full essay onto itself, so here's links to posts that Do go more in depth: [Link 1, Link 2, Link 3, Link 4, Link 5, Link 6, Link 7] as well as a full breakdown of the entirety of dream's influence on tommy and his mental health during exile under "A Comprehensive Analysis of the Exile arc." [Link]
important to note before we move on: this is where dream definitively cut ties with his friends. dream openly declaring that he didn't care about anything but tommy's discs (which actually translates to not caring about anything but tommy himself) Hurt sapnap. he asked tommy himself if dream cared about him, which tommy could only tell the truth about [Link].
quackity, sapnap, george, and punz would create el rapids, and while they Would gain their independence that would only come After dream tried to slaughter all of them. cornered in the holy lands, dream threatened to lift the rule against killing just so he could take them out. it was only after quackity talked him down that they were able to secure themselves.
dream would then dethrone george for this reason, reinstating eret as king. dream tried to insist that it was for george's safety, george asked him to admit that he hated him.
so while he was isolating and abusing tommy, manipulating tubbo to vie for the discs, building his vault to hold something very special, and building his second project in private, he was officially burning bridges with people who he'd once sparked a war over because of his favoritism for them.
tommy escaped of course, and dream followed him like a creep. visiting techno's house at least twice, and confronting them at the portal. the green festival was derailed by dream framing tommy in an attempt to get tubbo to give him the other disc, thus satisfying the rules.
tommy is there to see it, and he steps in.
I don't even have to say the line that everyone thinks of when they see tommy and the discs. it's one of two things that anyone ever talked about.
the fact is, people's perception of this moment is wrong. they don't understand Why tommy wanted the discs or Why he lashed out.
I want to call attention to this post here [Link] but lets go over this:
[Link] Techno: “Doesn’t Tubbo have [one of your] discs?”
Tommy: “As soon as we get the one off Dream then the one off of Tubbo is fine, I’ll just take away Dream’s power.”
[Link] Tommy: “No no no no, you had to exile me. Don’t give him the disc cause as soon as we- as soon as we take down (…) we’ll be fine. We’ll be back.”
Tubbo: "I don't think that's an option anymore." [End transcription]
think about this for a second. after everything, after all of dream's abuse and techno trying to convince him that l'manberg and tubbo caused all of his problems, tommy Only wanted to take dream's power away from him and he wanted it because he thought he could go home, because he thought he could fix his relationship with tubbo. and tubbo's response was That That Wasn't An Option.
tommy chose tubbo again and again and again in exile, even while being slowly convinced through lies and manipulation that tubbo never cared about him, and this was tubbo verbally rejecting him while handing dream tommy's chance at freedom that tommy gave to tubbo out of Trust in the first place.
I can't stress enough that tubbo did not and could not understand the significance of what he was saying, but this is the exact moment that tommy's tone changed from desperate to angry. where tommy stopped trying to make tubbo understand Why he needed the discs and instead started pointing out the ways that tubbo had hurt him.
this was a mutual fight started by dream but exacerbated by tubbo and that fact gets lost in the ending. "the discs were worth more than you ever were," was never true and tommy knew it. "the discs were worth more than you ever were" was "if you don't care about me then I don't care about you" and tommy hated himself as soon as it left his mouth.
he apologized to tubbo immediately, he ended an alliance that'd given him his first chance at stability since his exile for tubbo's sake, he told tubbo to hand dream the disc of his own accord, he didn't let tubbo apologize back because he didn't think he deserved it. this moment was not proof that tommy cared about the discs more than people, this moment was proof of how badly tommy was hurting.
it's also the moment dream won his game.
Dream: “You just gave me the one thing that I needed to destroy L'manberg I don’t care about L'manberg, I don’t care about anything, I’ve said this before. The only reason why I had not destroyed L'manberg is because you had the disc. I had to be friends with you to get the dumb disc back. I don’t care about you, I’m not your friend. I cared about getting the disc back and I got it back. That’s the only thing that really matters.“ [End transcription]
dream won his game against tommy while finding a way to follow the rules. he manipulated tommy and tubbo into getting both discs all without upsetting l'manberg's independence (very technically, "l'manberg can be independent but l'manberg can't be free.") or simply stealing them. with that victory earned he now had the win conditions met for the game set up with their duel.
tommy traded dream his discs for l'manberg, dream earned the discs for l'manberg. doomsday followed.
I'd just like to highlight the entire conversation they had on top of the obsidian grid
youtube
Tommy: "You bastard."
Dream: "Tommy, look, in all destruction there is a new beginning."
Tommy: "You did this, to all of us. Not just to me but to everyone here."
Dream: "Beautiful, you know? The unfinished symphony right."
Tommy: "Yeah."
Tommy: "Why?"
Dream: "The server will be at peace now."
Tommy: "Why, dream? Couldn't you have just- couldn't you have just burned the discs? Couldn't you have just done it to me? Why did you have to-"
Dream: "Oh this is much more fun."
Tommy: "You're a monster."
Dream: "Okay."
Dream: "Well, I think I'm gonna go far from here for a little while, just to avoid the wave of frustration that I'm sure you'll have."
Tommy: "This is too far. You've crossed- You know you're a monster. You've crossed the line."
Dream: "Tommy, I'm not done with you, okay? You know our story's not over. L'manberg's story is over, but our story's not over. I have your discs, I'm sure I'll see you soon."
Tommy: "You're right, listen to me. Our story's not over but it will be. You know what Dream? It will be soon."
Dream: "I don't think our story will ever be over Tommy."
Tommy: "Oh I think it will be."
Dream: "I think that you're just too fun. I don't think it'll be over. But I'll see you soon. This was a good time."
[End transcription]
this really does speak for itself, but there's a couple things I want to highlight here.
first, it reinforces the fact that l'manberg's death was a game to dream. he added l'manberg's life to the hot potato he played with tommy back with the duel because he thought it'd be fun to play, and he was right. but l'manberg was secondary, there was a point where it was going to have to end. meanwhile he wants the game with Tommy Specifically to go on forever, and he still sees the discs as his way to do that. but he also found a new opening didn't he.
the world settles after doomsday, pandora's vault finishes construction, and tommy waits for his chance to handle dream once and for all. and that time comes. dream leaves tommy a compass leading him Somewhere and tells him to bring tubbo with him.
they grind, tommy makes amends with as many people as possible, and he tries to buy insurance by paying off punz. they're wished well on the prime path by nearly the entire server.
the disc war finale is only about the discs on the surface level, dream already has them and tommy has never valued them the way that dream has. tommy and tubbo are going after the discs solely because they want to remove the power dream has over them (that they don't even understand) and they're willing to die to do it.
dream is trying to go for yet another victory.
you can argue about whether pandora's vault was originally creator for tommy or not, but that's what it's purpose was by this point. dream loved his game with tommy, he wanted to keep tommy forever and hold him where no one else could influence him, and that's what the vault was for. the vault to protect his one attachment.
then there was the attachments museum. a hall of items from nearly everyone on the server that gave him power over them. the items themselves didn't matter, techno's axe was treated the same as Skeppy, it was only the power they gave him over the people they mattered to. and there a golden shrine for the discs was erected. Solid Gold Blocks for the plastic discs. it really is confusing that people Still argue that tommy is the one with the obsession.
and then, of course, tubbo.
dream saw tommy pick tubbo over the discs at the green festival, and that just can't do. dream wants to believe that tommy cares about his game just as much as he does, he projects that onto him Constantly. that's why he insists that tommy cares about the discs more than anything even as tommy sacrifices them over and over again. if tubbo matters more then tommy might not play if tubbo's around. and he's proven right when tommy chooses tubbo again.
there's lots of people that dream doesn't consider important to his game with tommy, but he only Asked tommy to bring tubbo. it's not just that tubbo is a pawn, it's that tubbo is a threat to his importance to tommy. that's why he wanted to kill him and that's why he wanted tommy to Know he was dead.
it didn't go that way though. punz came through the portal with nearly the entire server in toe. tommy going out of his way to reinforce his connections with other people paid off and dream took the biggest loss he's ever faced. two lives down and sentenced to the very prison he had commissioned.
this was the end of the disc's importance to the series Because dream is no longer free to inflate their importance. he can't access them and tommy never saw them as more than what they were. so he's allowed to love them simply as items that matter to him again. nothing more, nothing less.
but that's not the end of dream and tommy's story. because this is where dream's ace came into play. the item that he allied with schlatt to get his hands on. the revival book.
dream survived on the promise of the revival book, that he could use it to bring back those that the server has lost (or will lose), it is on that knowledge and that knowledge only that he's been allowed to survive. but that isn't why he values it.
tommy stepped into the prison to visit dream to seek closure. he was trapped inside for a week, where he did his best to resist dream trying to reignite the hold he had over tommy, and when the week was up (when tommy's freedom was inevitable) dream killed him. three days later tommy came back.
the discs only have value because tommy has value, the revival book has value because it's the key to keeping tommy forever. the revival book has value because dream can use it to truly make it so their game never ends. dream may be stripped of his power now, but he fully plans to escape eventually.

ok but man. just. quackity and tommy’s friendship.
they don’t interact very often in a serious context but,, i think that’s what makes me like them so much? from the beginning of the election arc quackity and tommy, despite being on opposite sides, have always genuinely enjoyed each other’s company and had some good laughs together? and when schlatt comes into power that doesn’t quite fade, even if quackity is supposed to hate him, even if they’re preparing for war, they still have little moments where they laugh at each other’s dumb little jokes. and i think that’s definitely part of what ultimately turns quackity against schlatt. these people aren’t tyrants, they aren’t villains. quackity’s spent time with them, with this asshole kid that cracks him up. he doesn’t know about wilbur, really, but he’s met tommy, he likes tommy, and the kid may be short tempered and loud and stubborn but he’s not evil. quackity knows that tommys a good kid, a kind person, and doesn’t deserve what he and schlatt did to him. quackity was taking a huge leap of faith in leaving schlatt- there was no guarantee that pogtopia would accept him. but tommy’s seen the same kindness in quackity that quackity saw in him, and gives him the chance to join without hesitation. quackity and tommy, despite neither of them being great at properly articulating what they feel, seem to understand each other in a way not many others do.
and even after manburg vs pogtopia, after l’manburg’s built back up from scratch, as the exile is underway, quackity keeps vouching for tommy. quackity is one of the only people to explicitly take tommy aside and say “hey, listen, i understand why you’re upset and i don’t blame you, but now is not the time to act on it.” and that’s so important for tommy to hear. throughout the entire arc tommy is constantly being labeled as selfish and evil for wanting something that’s his, that he sacrificed, and quackity is one of very few characters to not do that. quackity tells him that it’s okay to want these things, but right now pursuing them puts l’manburg in danger. and when tubbo exiles tommy, especially after promising him safety, quackity is furious. he pushes forward because they have to, for l’manburg, but he’s angry.
and honestly, one of the brightest spots in tommy’s exile is quackity’s visit. everytime someone else visits him tommy just kind of... sits in his misery? he can tell obviously they want something from him, they want to feel like they’ve done something to help, but tommy doesn’t know how to give that to them. he’s stuck here, and no amount of gifts that will be destroyed later or meaningless sentiments about how it’s going to be okay are going to fix that. but when quackity visits, he visits with no expectations. he doesn’t try to fix tommy’s situation in a day. quackity shows up to make him laugh, to crack dumb jokes with him like they used to and forget everything for a while. quackity speaks tommy’s language, knows that right now asking questions is prying and stressful, so he doesn’t. and tommy thrives during that visit, he seems to genuinely have some fun for the first time in ages.
hearing tommy tell quackity he’s one of his best friends at their send off yesterday? it got to me. it really did. because tommy and quackity, despite whatever else is going on at the time, just seem to get each other.

*Leans into the mic* Wilbur and Dreams probably mutually unhealthy friendship during Pogtopia lives in my head rent free and I wish I came up more in cannon
darkikyu on tumblr dot com we are always on the exact same wavelength ,, wilbur and dream being self destructive friends is my favourite thing and lives in my head rent free. have a snippet because i’m obsessed with these two
warnings: cigarettes/smoking, thoughts/discussions of death, mental illness, wilbur and dream are both assholes in this, manipulation !! if you need anything else tagged pls let me know <3
“Have a cig,” Wilbur says, almost amicably dangling a cigarette in offering over the stacks of TNT, “it’s on me.”
Dream stares blankly behind his mask. Wilbur knows there no real blankness there, though: Dream is a firecracker of emotions at the best of times, downright devastated with them at the worst, and this is certainly a new low for both of them. “I don’t smoke.”
“Neither do I.” Wilbur grins, lighting his own cigarette and exhaling smoke at Dream, who flinches back from it, turns his head. “Don’t be a spoilsport, Dream. Live a little. We won’t be able to do it for much longer.”
“There’s nothing in our agreement about me dying, Wilbur. Only you.”
Wilbur chuckles. That’s not entirely true. “Touché.”
Their agreement isn’t as simple as Dream thinks it is. Their agreement is the destruction of L’Manburg at all costs, Wilbur’s life, and Phil. Their verbal agreement, anyway. The one they’d shaken hands on and confirmed and fussed over.
Wilbur isn’t as naïve as Dream is. He never has been. If Dream thinks he can play the villain and not suffer the consequences, he’s wrong. Just like him, just like Schlatt, when Dream falls into the role given to him, when he becomes the villain Wilbur had always pushed for him to be, he’ll die.
Maybe not permanently. Maybe not forever. But Wilbur knows what death looks like — sees it up close and personal in the button he obsesses over every night — and he sees the shadow of it looming behind Dream closer every day. One way or another, Dream will die: if this rigid decimation of his personality isn’t already death.
Wilbur has watched Dream distance himself, and he watches Dream move closer now; accept the cigarette with unsure, quiet hands and an unsaid thanks. He lights it for him, lights the fuse, and watches Dream self destruct.
He’s always been a people-watcher. Though, he doesn’t think Dream will be a person much longer.
“How’s Tommy?” Dream asks, unable to stand the silence. “Have you told him?”
Wilbur smiles. “About our deal, you mean?” He shakes his head. “No. No, I haven’t told him. I think I’ll leave him to work it out for himself.”
“Why?”
“Why? Because he’s a smart kid.” There’s pride in his voice; bitter, resentful pride as he thinks about the kid he’d taken under his wing. “He’ll try to stop me. And... If anyone could stop me, it would be Tommy.”
He pauses, taking a slow drag from his cigarette and watching Dream figure out how to do the same without choking.
“I would kill for him, you know, Dream. I would die for him too. That’s why I’m dying for L’Manburg instead. I don’t want to die for him. I never have.”
“He would die for you,” Dream says, and doesn’t point out he already has, twice, “this is going to destroy him.”
Wilbur tilts his head, eyes Dream in lazy contemplation. “No,” he replies, “I think you will. That’s what you want, isn’t it? Chaos and ruin?”
“That’s not at all what—”
“Once the villain, always the villain.” Wilbur arches an eyebrow, notices Dream’s tension, notices the way he stiffens and pulls away in denial. “You’re going to destroy Tommy, Dream. We’re parallels like that.”
Dream drums his hand on his thigh, lets out a taut, tight breath. “This isn’t a story, Wilbur. There are no parallels.”
“That’s where you’re wrong.” Wilbur chuckles. “This is absolutely a story, Dream. And all stories have to come to an ending.”
He smiles, getting up, ruffling Dream’s hair playfully as he passes him.
“And us villains have to go out with a bang.”

Talking about the lore stuff that Fundy said on his stream a few days back because wow was it interesting
- He feels like nothing he ever did to help people actually worked and, in some cases, actively split people apart.
(And like, if you think about it...
The Socializing Club was the site of its own mini-war
He tried to take revenge on Sapnap for the sake of justice for Niki, but that only ended up leading to Sapnap killing many of Niki’s animals in the conflict
COCONUT2020 wanted to help people but split the vote and let Schlatt win
He decorated for the Festival, thinking it would be a fun celebration that would bring people together, only for it to turn out to be an execution
He kept his Spy’s Diary all that time and was so sure it would help Pogtopia, but when he came to actually deliver the information, he was just talked over, mocked and dismissed
He’s kinda right about all of that)
This point sort of gives a new dimension to the huge contrast between his attitude at the Festival and his attitude on Doomsday itself
The Festival, he still had a fighting spirit and was willing to try and help people again. But after thinking it through all night with no sleep, he just broke down after realizing that so, so many times before, he’d had that same fighting spirit and it never turned out well for him.
And during the Festival, that one time where everyone was gathered together, they were all gathered together uniting against a common enemy: Dream.
It was only after that that everyone really started to splinter off again as they questioned whether the fight was worth it. But in that moment, when everyone was furious against one person and they were willing to set aside their differences just to take him down?
Maybe that unity could be recreated?
That’s what Fundy’s plan is.
- So now he’s trying to cause chaos and make everyone turn against him so that they’ll all be united in hatred of him, essentially sacrificing his own moral standing for the sake of unity, the greater good. He wants to give people a common enemy to hate.
- The most recent destruction of L’manburg made him feel like Wilbur’s death was in vain, that all the pain that was caused by Wilbur leaving him just for L’manburg to be destroyed again by different hands was for nothing
- Fundy’s more favorable to Ghostbur than Alivebur at this point. Ghostbur’s been nothing but helpful. He doesn’t think Phil and the others should bring Wilbur back since that would be like trying to bring L’manburg back again -- it’ll just start the cycle over, and it’ll end the same way. Wilbur was the cause of it all in the first place. Bringing him back would start it again.
This is a pretty interesting contrast to how Fundy’s relationship first started out with Ghostbur, where he saw Ghostbur as a lesser stand-in for a father he no longer had, somebody who he suspected didn’t even know him as his son anymore. Fundy harbored resentment.
But over time, as Ghostbur’s developed into his own person apart from Alivebur, Fundy’s feelings have changed and his anger is now fully focused on the memory of Alivebur instead.
- All three Presidents of L’manburg, in Fundy’s eyes, were doing good things for the country.
The issue was, each one of them had certain flaws that led to their downfall. Fundy thought Schlatt was doing good work at first, but eventually saw that Schlatt was too engrossed in his own business that the country was suffering for it. Schlatt had some good ideas, but was pushing people away by being an asshole.
Fundy actually saw some good in Schlatt. “You had a dream and I followed it!”
Schlatt was possibly even some sort of father figure to him (though the canonicity of this is questionable for some pretty obvious reasons)
He’s followed Wilbur as both a President and a general, then Schlatt, then Tubbo, and he initially believed in all of them. But time and time again, he watched each President fall to their flaws cause harm instead of good for his home.
So now, after all of that, he believed that it was beyond saving.
- Unlike Niki and Jack, who feel that they were wronged by Tommy and that Tommy needs to be taught a lesson, Fundy’s anger isn’t directed at anyone specific. He’s not out for revenge. He’s just desperate to make a difference any way possible after months and months of feeling like nothing he’s done has been any good. He doesn’t see him causing chaos as a justified action against someone who’s done wrong -- it’s a means to an end of bringing people together against him.
He’s desperate to make a change for the better, because he feels like all he’s done is wrong.

is it bad that i think niki should get away from phil and techno?? i don't think their method of dealing with stuff is actually good for niki at all, just as it wasn't good for tommy (and to some extent, wilbur during pogtopia).
i'm all for her having friends! but i think the syndicate is ultimately just going to burn her even worse than lmanburg's fate did.
like i dunno! i don't think phil and techno are very good at being there for people who're in a bad place mentally. i mean look at fundy, too, or ranboo as well.
I don't think it's a bad opinion honestly. Like, I'm not the biggest fan of c!Techno and his mentality in general (and c!Phil still mostly follows him) and I generally don't think that's good for anyone.
Like c!Techno's mentality basically can be boiled down to: "If you punch me in the face I'll burn your house down and murder your family" but like, even more extreme because he considers someone not agreeing with that statement as a punch in the face in and of itself. And that's without considering that he STILL wants to uphold the favour he owes to a f*cking canonical abuser which just shows you that literally his morality is laughable at best.
That said! Niki really doesn't spend all that time with them. Like, yes the Syndicate is sort of a thing but they meet once every blue moon and do nothing so I really don't think they're much of an influence at all on her actually. They are just some very needed human contact I suppose.
Honestly I still think that Niki should get other friends as well mostly so that she gets an actual sense of community and belonging because 1 hour meetings with 3 month long intervals in between aren't exactly much.
That said c!Techno is canonically an asshole so she definitely could do better.

Hello I'm sending this to a couple of peeps cause I need answers
I been in the fandom for a long ass time (since the first sadist animatic since I was a fan of sadist since their Batim days) so I think I good grasp on all of the folk in the smp but uh.... I kinda realised that I have no clue why c!Niki hates c! Wilbur and even more so, why does everyone thinks she's a girl boss for it??? Did I miss an entire plotline orrrr?
I... I guess she hates him for having been a horrible cunt and coward during pogtopia? And to this day? Which is kinda valid tbh but like, not healthy in her case. (I will never clarify that I'm talking about the characters btw. I will clarify if I ever talk about the Cc's. But not the other way around fuck that)
But I've also never supported the whole girlboss thing for Nikki. Her telling schlatt to starve was a girlboss moment. Her dragging wilburs name is funny af but not a girlboss moment. Also her burning the lmantree is not a girlbossmoment and is like the Symbole of her being a bitch.
This is pretty much the answer to your question already. Following this is only just me going off about nikki
So I'm... A Nikki anti I guess? Like. I just don't like her. I don't. I have a lot of sympathy and I understand what she's going through but she frustrates me like no other mainly because almost more than even techno, she gets celebrated almost exclusively for all her bad things.
Nikki is kinda a less accomplished Wilbur. She stopped believing in lmanberg cuz of massive mental health issues, destroyed something actual people that actually trusted her cared about with glee and then fucked off. Adding to that that she also pinned the blame exclusively at Tommy at first, tried to murder him, tried to pin that murder on tubbo, Tommy's BEST FRIEND and would've left tubbo to believing he accidentally MURDERED HIS BEST FRIEND. And no, failing doesn't make it any better. Her own incompetence doesn't lighten the level of fucked up.
Then to heal she went to join the syndicate, and like. Good for her. And I mean that. Looking to become better is good. It just makes me incredibly uncomfortable. Techno is a big factor of everything that went wrong in her life. A big factor of what led to her selfdestructive tendencies. To the bad bad place she is now. He encouraged wilburs downward spiral. He helped destroy lmanberg, leaving with a threat, making the new government extremely focused on powerplays and her feeling lonely. He more actively destroyed it a second time. And now she's being another one of his tongue bathers. It feels gross to watch. Tommy died? Tommy who was her friend and comrade in lmanberg, who helped her when Sapnap killed her fox, who she just realized she pinned everything bad on and tried to kill for no reason? And techno reacts incredibly heartless? Her priority lies in pointing out that techno has every reason to not be sad. To reassure that asshole that his apathy is totally valid and not something he needs to work on.
Also she just never feels bad for the whole Tommy thing? She admits that she was wrong for trying to murder him while he trusted her. But she never feels bad for trying to murder him. She never has an "oh shit, if we hadn't failed back then I would have killed an innocent friend of mine who trusted me" moment. Same with the whole pinning it on tubbo thing.
I hate it. It's so incredibly uncomfortable. As uncomfortable as just the very few of peak dream lines come to reach. But instead of it just being a single line or moment it's just. Always. casually. I don't like seeing it. It feels vile.
I hate anything she's done since season 1, I hate seeing her downfall being celebrated. I hate it. Having a once badass compassionate character become a luckily incompetent asshole who I haven't seen care about anyone else, because of trauma is a fucking tragedy and people are celebrating it. Or at least that's how it looks to me.
She's in a bad place. But the people she's seeking healing from are not good people. And I can only hope that like Tommy she realizes that if she wants to actually heal fully she can't stay with them.
This is super long already. Cat out.

Crimeboys
Tumblr media
ccwise: very funny to see them do like one thing together and ruin all their fans
character wise:
Tumblr media
i want to see them again. theres so much that goes into their relationship theyre horrible for each other its good that wilbur keeps distance its good that tommy doesnt desperately follow after anymore but also wilbur sees so much of himself in tommy and it scares him and tommys still so so attached because he still sees wilbur as a brother and because theyve been through so much together and when they reunited tommy wanted him dead all over again but just seeing a picture of him is enough to calm him down. wilbur thinks hes bad for tommy and tommy thinks wilburs too bad for himself to be left alone and yet after a while holding on so tight is tiring . c!crimeboys is one of the relationships that most drives the smp and it shows. i think they near perfectly encapsulate many of the themes, from attachments to the meaning of community to legacy to how to tell when you need to Let Go and theyre both played Brilliantly. also apparently there was discourse abt if wilbur was abusive during pogtopia or not? i think thats a bit bullshit there was a power dynamic and he was an asshole but it wasnt abuse just not healthy for either or them lol. wilbur needed help tommy wasnt able to give and thats not abuse just a sad sad tragedy

L’Manberg’s Heart
(Inspired by @dyinginlava‘s story here. Please read first for context.)
(Read on AO3)
Tommy never knows what Dream wants from him.
He tried to understand it before, back when he was first exiled. It kept him busy during the long, painful stretches of time between Dream’s check-ins where no one -- not even Ghostbur -- visited him. He thought back to the discs, to L’Manberg’s independence, to the sudden way Dream turned against them in Pogtopia; still, it made no sense to him at all.
Descending the elevator; however, finally allows him to see.
The gold platforms -- shrines, really, from what it looks like -- stand stark against the blackstone walls, drawing his gaze away from the shimmering purple portal. He gapes at the giant portraits and item frames, his prized possessions so close and yet so far from his reach.
His hands twitch. Maybe if he sprinted, he’d be fast enough-
“Don’t even think about it, Tommy.” A sharp blade scrapes across the back of his neck, a shiver rippling under his skin. “They’re not what you’re here for.”
Tommy shakes his hands, suddenly finding them clammy. “Wh- why are we down here, anyways?” he says, hating the way his voice wavers. He turns to Dream and fights the urge to fidget under the mask’s impassive stare. “Do we have to go through the portal or something?”
“You wanted answers, didn’t you?” Dream pulls the axe back, enchanted netherite gleaming against a black backdrop as he twirls it in a precise circle. “Here’s where you’ll get them.”
“Okay, okay, but what answers?” Tommy asks. “What the fuck is this place?”
“You’ll see” is his answer as the platform comes to a stop. “Follow me.” Tommy holds back as Dream steps off the platform, axe now resting on his shoulder. He flexes his hands, wishing he had some weapon, item, anything he could hold or pick at.
But Dream told him he had to leave everything behind. Dream told him to put all of his items in a chest. Dream told him to put all his armor in a hole-
“Tommy.”
His head snaps up, eyes wide and panicked. Dream stands displeased over by an open hall, tapping his foot against the ringing stone. “If you don’t want answers, I can just take you back to L’Manberg.”
He shakes his head vigorously. Remember who you’re here for, he thinks.
The struggling country, heart threatening to stop as its lifeblood drains. The people, weary and anxious, treating each moment as if it’s their last.
The President, who disappeared without a trace the day it was meant to fall.
(He sacrificed himself, Tommy argues with his own head. He didn’t leave. Not when everything he cared about was in L’Manberg. He wouldn’t.)
“Tommy,” Dream scolds. “Don’t keep me waiting.”
“Sorry, sorry,” he says, stumbling over. “I’ll come. I’m coming.”
He trips on his way to Dream, almost falling on his face before the other man grabs him by the back of his collar and pulls him up again. He tugs his shirt away from his neck the moment Dream lets go of him, coughing to rid himself of the uncomfortable feeling lingering on his neck.
“Come on,” Dream snaps. “There’s something I want you to see.”
Tommy nods and follows without another word, massaging his raw throat. Upon turning the corner into the next hall, he freezes.
“What the fuck?” he can’t stop himself from saying. “What the fuck is this?”
Empty item frames and posts stretch out towards the end of the hall, signs posted above denoting the missing possessions: Axe of Peace, Enderchest, Fran, Squeeks, Shulker, Mars, Beckerson. At the back, a small stable is set up, holding Friend and-
“Henry?” Tommy whispers.
His legs are leaden, bolted to the ground. He saw Henry die months ago, didn’t he? He’s sure of it. How the hell did he end up here?
“I saved him and brought him here while everyone was fighting,” Dream says. “It took a while, but it was worth it in the end.”
“I-” Tommy tries to swallow down the lump in his throat. He fails. “Why didn’t you tell anyone?”
Dream shrugs. “It wasn’t time yet.” The axe spins again, arcing over his head as he turns. “That’s not what I brought you down here to show you, though. This is.”
Tommy steps closer, far too aware of how his feet drag against the floor. There’s a two-block-tall hole in the wall he failed to notice earlier, blending in so well with the blackstone that he wouldn’t have seen it if Dream hadn’t pointed it out to him. But as he moves away from the hall’s entrance, silver bars peek out from the hole, blocking him from reaching out and grabbing-
“Tubbo.”
Tommy sprints to the hole and squishes himself as close to the bars as possible, drinking in the sight of his best friend. The President lies curled up in the corner, back pressed firmly against the wall. His clothes are rumpled, the suit jacket he always kept ironed and stiff nowhere to be found. Patches of sweat-soaked cloth release a musty, overpowering odor, matching the dampness of his tangled, greasy hair. Scorch marks litter his pants and shirt as varied and widespread as burns scatter across his skin.
He’s not moving, and for a single, horrible moment, Tommy wonders if he’s dead.
“Tubbo.” He reaches through the bars, though he hesitates. What happens if his skin is cold? “Tubbo, it’s Tommy. Wake up.”
No answer. Tommy bites the bullet, grasps Tubbo’s hand, and yanks.
A strangled yelp wrenches out of Tubbo’s throat. His eyes open, wide and wild, as he tugs out of Tommy’s grip, and he pushes his feet against the bars, pressing into the corner.
“Tubbo!” The older boy stifles a whimper and tucks into the fetal position, ducking his face into his knees and clamping his hands over his ears. Tommy winces.
“Tubbo,” he says, softer now. “It’s me. It’s Tommy.”
Tubbo doesn’t respond. If anything, he curls up tighter, clenching his eyes shut and shaking his head. He heaves quick, shallow breaths, murmuring pleas for mercy under his breath.
When the first sob wretches from his throat, Tommy’s thoughts run ablaze. A lit match drops in a dry forest, burning through fallen leaves and fresh kindling. Faint wisps of smoke rise above the treeline as he turns, Dream’s only warning as wind stirs up and stokes the flames.
“What the fuck did you do to him,” he demands, hands curled into bloodless fists. “Tell me right this instant.”
The axe has not stopped moving. Dream spins it rhythmically, never failing to lose the tempo. “I didn’t do anything,” he says. “He did it all to himself.”
“That is such a fucking lie, let me tell you-”
“...Tommy?”
He cuts himself off, snapping his head right back towards the cage. Tubbo stares at him with wet, shining eyes, shock still and pale. He’s horrified.
Tommy, however, pretends to notice none of that. “Tubbo. Holy shit, Tubbo! You’re okay!”
“What are you doing here?” Tubbo says, hands dropping to his sides. “How are you here?”
“Doesn’t matter. I’m getting you out and we’re going home,” Tommy declares. Rain comes and douses patches of flames, soothing the burnt trees and soaking into the soil. Everything is going to be okay. Everything is going to be fine.
Tubbo drops a bomb on the forest in one moment.
“I can’t leave, Tommy.”
“What? Of course you can!” Tommy says, taken aback. “There’s a portal right over there. We can get out and run-”
Tubbo shakes his head. “I can’t risk L’Manberg’s safety.”
He stops short. “L’Manberg? Wh- what do you mean?” Yet even as he says it, the cogs click together in his head. “It was you, wasn’t it? You stopped them from destroying L’Manberg.”
Tubbo’s grim smile is enough of an answer. “You saw the obsidian, Tommy,” he says. “If I hadn’t done anything, there would be nothing left. I couldn’t let it blow up on my watch again.”
“Again?” Something breaks in Tommy’s voice. “Tubbo, it’s not your fault Wilbur pressed the button. You couldn’t have stopped him if you tried. I tried! And I failed!”
“Not that,” Tubbo says, holding his head up with the wall. “It blew up when I exiled you.”
For once, Tommy’s speechless. “Tubbo-”
“Think about it,” the other boy continues. “If I hadn’t done that, Quackity and Fundy wouldn’t have made the Butcher Army, we wouldn’t have tried to execute Technoblade, Quackity wouldn’t have lost his second life, the Community House wouldn’t have blown up, and I never would’ve given up your disc!” Tubbo’s voice rises, growing hysterical. “It all ties back to that one thing. It all connects.”
“Tubbo- Tubbo, listen to me,” Tommy pleads. He clasps Tubbo’s hand through the bars. “There wasn’t anything you could do. I know that. It hurt when it happened, but I let go of it a long time ago! I forgave you!” His eyes sting with the threat of unshed tears, but he blinks them away before they fall. “Look, we’ll think of something with Dream. We’ll make a new deal, and you can come back to me with L’Manberg, and it’ll all be okay-”
“That sounds nice,” Dream says, startling both boys, who had almost forgotten he was there. “But there’s a problem with that, Tommy.”
“Oh yeah?” Tommy draws himself up and puffs out his chest. “And what might that be?”
The axe stops twirling. “You’re not going back to L’Manberg.”
Like a balloon, he deflates. “You can’t do that. Tubbo and I- we’re leaving, and we’re going home.”
“You can go to a home, sure,” Dream says. “But it won’t be L’Manberg.”
Tubbo’s face goes sheet-white, tainted by a faint shade of puce. “No,” he whispers, voice cracking. “No, please. Not there. Not the prison.”
“The prison?” Tommy clutches Tubbo’s hand tighter, shielding the other boy behind the bars. The fire inside catches a second wind. “You’ve kept him in the prison?”
Dream shifts his grip on the axe, dropping into a more relaxed stance. “I’m not an asshole, Tommy.” Even behind the mask, Tommy could sense the eye roll. “Do you think anyone could live in that tiny space he’s in for more than a day?”
“No, but I don’t fucking expect you to get that, bitch.”
“I gave you free roam during your exile,” Dream snaps out. “There were exceptions and some rules you had to follow, but other than that, you could do whatever you wanted. Even up to the point where you ran away.
“But Tubbo here” --he points the axe at Tubbo’s chest-- “Tubbo gave himself to me. He made a trade, L’Manberg’s protection for his life, and I’m keeping my end of the bargain.” He throws his arms up, the axe sweeping wide through the air. “And maybe, maybe if you hadn’t broken my trust, I would let him out in Logstead or somewhere new, but I can’t. I can’t trust that he won’t run away like you did.”
“And if we try to run now?” Tommy says, his mouth dry. “What happens then?”
Dream tilts the axe, watching the light glint off the blade. “Then I’ll kill Tubbo.”
Both boys make a noise in the back of their throats: for Tommy, a startled yelp; for Tubbo, a scared whimper.
“No way, you’re not killing him.” Tommy says, his thoughts racing. He couldn’t, right? “I won’t let you.”
“There’s nowhere for him to go.” Dream shrugs, bouncing the axe off his shoulder. “If you run, you leave him vulnerable.
“Well, then get him out of there. You’re gonna have to move him anyway.”
“I don’t think you get how this works, Tommy,” Dream says. “Tubbo was a lure, a pawn. Something to get you here: just like Henry, just like your discs.” The axe swings again, revolving at a slow, hypnotic pace. “I planned on bringing you down here for weeks, even before I made Tubbo exile you.”
Tommy slinks back, pressing his back against the bars. Tubbo’s breath hitches.
Dream never pauses, “Sure, the prison wasn’t meant for either of you, but how can I pass up that opportunity when it shows itself?”
Acid burns in Tommy’s throat. Dream has everything, doesn’t he? The discs, Henry, L’Manberg, even Tubbo, for fuck’s sake. What’s next?
“That wasn’t part of our deal,” Tommy says. “You said that if I left all my things behind, you would show me where Tubbo is.”
“And I did. We never agreed on what would happen after.”
The fire flares, though it’s muted: a burn pile surrounded by threats prepared to muffle out the flame.
““You’re a wrongun, you know that?” Tommy says, pointing at Dream’s chest. “A real dickhead. And I’m going to stop you.”
“What makes you think you have any chance?” Dream laughs. “You said it yourself, you have nothing. You’re defenseless!”
“He’s right,” Tubbo says, his voice small and devoid of hope. “We don’t have a choice.”
“Listen to Tubbo, Tommy. Even he’s telling you to give in.” Dream closes the gap between them and sheathes the axe on his back, then grabs Tommy’s shoulders in a bruising grip (ignoring the way Tommy’s breath quickens and he flinches upon contact). “Move out of the way, agree to cooperate, and maybe -- just maybe -- I’ll let the two of you stay in neighboring cells.”
Tommy ducks his head down and studies the floor as he stalls, mulling over his options. There’s no other choice. All his other cards are scattered across the table. He has no more moves, no more tricks, nothing left that can weasel their way out of this mess.
Tommy eyes the swirling Nether portal and smiles. Maybe he has one left.
“You know, Dream,” he says, “when you brought me here, you fucked up and forgot something.”
“Oh, really?” Dream said, drawing out a drawl. “And what would that be?”
“Me and Tubbo? We’re friends.” He levels his gaze at Dream, staring directly into the eyes of his mask, and his smile grows into a big, triumphant grin. “And friends never leave each other behind.”
As if on cue, the portal spits a group out one-by-one in a mass of purple particles. Quackity, Fundy, Ranboo, Sapnap, Sam, and Techno pile out of the portal, all decked out in glowing armor and weapons, and surround the entrance to the trophy hall, blocking Dream off from the exit.
And leading the charge is Wilbur, fueled by the same fire in Tommy’s eyes, gripping a compass in his barely translucent hand. “I’m only going to say this once, Dream,” he says, all traces of Ghostbur’s innocent air wiped clean from his voice. “Get the fuck away from My Tommy.”

Also!!! Idk if this would help people here??? But I’ve noticed a lot of people having discourse on whether Techno is meant to be interpreted, on a narrative level, if he is in the right or in the wrong!
I just wanted to share, as someone with a big nerd feelings about storytelling, plot structure, etc- that not every narrative is about showing characters who are in the right, react appropriately, have correct beliefs etc. Most aren’t, actually!
This is a strange trend I’ve noticed recently!!! I think it’s because a lot of us grew up idolizing fictional characters that we shouldn't have, and so who actually turned out to be assholes?? So I think people have somehow got it stuck in their heads that the main purpose of a character, or a story, is to be a role model, to be an example, send a message etc etc!
A side effect of storytelling is that we draw meaning- a “message” or a “theme” from it. Which is hella cool!! But it’s not what storytelling IS. Storytelling is the process by which you explain the change of state of one thing to another. Saying “The ballon was floating. Then I popped it.” Is a story! Saying “The ballon was a good person. Good things will happen to it.” Is not necessarily, because the ballon is not changing on any fundamental level. Even saying “bad things will happen to it” is not a story, because the ballon is still remaining exactly the same. (more underneath)
A story MIGHT say both. “A boy say a drowning cat. The boy saved the cat. The town threw him a party to thank him!” Is a story. It can be interpreted to send the message, “this boy is good, and because of that good things happen to him. Maybe we should be good too!” But even without the interpretation, the story still stands.
Because the story does not require a message to be itself, storytelling doesn’t require messages. So the main point of stories can’t be sending messages if they don't require them. A story DOES require that a thing change from one state to another. So, if that’s true, describing change is the point of storytelling.
It’s sort of like painting. A painting IS paint on canvas. Gogh’s Starry Night is paint on canvas, arranged to look like a night sky. People can pull different interpretations of it- but a good artist rarely goes in with their message fully formed in their mind. An artist represents something else, and by doing so, a message will often come out subconsciously through the artists’s subject combined with their own (often conflicting) beliefs, feelings, and desires.
How do most authors decide to induce change? They use conflict! Conflict: to be incompatible or at variance. Conflict, by its nature, creates change because incompatible things can’t share the same space. These two things will continue to push and fight against each other until they find a place where both of them can come to a rest. Think water and oil! Or a cat and a mouse.
This is something that is fairly often brought up in English classes! If you’ve listen to some of Technoblade’s early streams, he even brings it up during his first two Pogtopia streams!! He mentions that he’s a little worried because everyone on the server is “too nice” so there's “not enough conflict.” He’s not saying that cause he doesn’t want people to be nice- he’s saying that because when someone is not pushing against you, its harder to know what to do. You ever done improv? It’s much easier to improv a funny argument than to improv two people who are completely on the same page in every way.
So! Taking the dream smp for example cause thats where we’re at!
I saw some people were a bit upset that Techno said he was glad Tommy died. Yeah, not a nice thing to say about c!Tommy!! BUT cc!Techno choosing to say that is a wonderful thing to do for cc!Tommy!! Why? It creates conflict.
If Technoblade had a “good” opinion on Tommy’s death, there would not be sufficient conflict between them, which essentially means there is no story left to tell there. That’s not good for cc!Techno or cc!Tommy.
IF Technoblade had a “neutral” opinion on Tommy’s death (as he initially tried to have) there's still technically not a conflict there. A neutral opinion is still neutral- it does not force Techno to actually confront his mixed feelings about Tommy, or Tommy to come to a bigger awareness of those feelings, either on his or Techno’s side.
A “bad” opinion on Tommy’s death IS the most conflict inducing choice we have here. Though small, in this moment it immediately brings him into conflict with both Ranboo and Phil (Phil!!! Which is hella interesting!!).
A “bad” opinion also continues to heighten the conflict between Tommy and Techno, which again, is a good thing. If Techno had openly admitted he was sad that Tommy was dead, then there isn’t really anything new for us to learn about Techno or Tommy when Tommy comes back. It is redundant- which is something you wanna HELLA avoid in storytelling.
As well as brings Techno into conflict with himself! I’m of the opinion that, while Techno believes what he said, it is not necessarily true. We can see both from Phil’s reaction “I swear he has a heart guys.” We can see this in how he talks about other people we know he cares deeply about ie my “acquaintance” Ranboo who he was willing to murder someone over. And we see this even in his brief interactions with Tommy- when Tommy came over before seeing Dream to steal out of Techno’s chests, Techno was upset, but also incredibly lenient. Which you know, is coming from a guy who hoards things religiously, towards someone whose guts he’s supposed to hate. Techno’s inability to properly regulate his attachments- keeping a cold facade while bouncing between incredibly polarizing apathy or absolute ride-and-die devotion, is literally one of Techno’s most reoccurring struggles and character flaws. A character flaw, which if Techno did not have, he would cease to be a character with any sort of dynamic struggle within him.
And finally it brings the audience into conflict with Techno, which is actually a good thing. We loose interest in characters we completely understand, and we loose interest in characters when we know exactly the direction they are going in. People who are saying “How could Techno say that when early he’d said he’d have given the world for Tommy??” Is EXACTLY the question the writers want you to be asking.
Anyway !! To sum up!!! For technoblade, as a writer (not a character!! as a writer!!) his main concern is not portraying a character who is in the right, has the correct beliefs, or is justified in his actions. I’d argue its also NOT portraying a character who is in the wrong, has wrong beliefs, or is completely unjust. His main goal is portraying an interesting character. Through which cc!Techno’s main tool is almost always conflict!
The narrative’s goal is usually not to portray good people, or to punish people for what they deserve. It’s main purpose is not to teach us what’s right and wrong (though that is an incredibly interesting side of effect of some stories!) The main goal of most stories is to be interesting, create conflict, and explore hypothetical scenarios.
(Which, if you notice- is true of a lot of the CCs who come from a storytelling background! IE Wilbur, Tommy, etc).
I mean, the dude’s into Greek mythology. Greek mythology is like the absolute king of “maybe heroic but mostly asshole” main characters lol.
Anyway!! That got a bit long! But that’s the idea : ) of course, anyone’s welcome to interpret or enjoy the story in anyway they like! And feelings are feelings. But the fandom idea that a character’s purpose is to be a role model misses the point (and often, a lot of the enjoyment) of writing.

cc!niki's acting is just so good. it made me really emotional like just the way she was finally healing and now the person she blames for everything going wrong is back and 'invading' the place she found peace in. and because she blamed c!wilbur when he was dead to help her cope and leave all that pain in the past now because he's back c!niki tries to justify how much she's still hurt by convincing herself that wilbur has always been a bad person and only used everyone for power, never caring for her. and the way she blames herself for trusting wilbur to not blow up l'manberg on the 16th even after she saw the tnt prepared. man. and yupp during pogtopia wilbur was obviously spiraling and while aware of some of his actions i don't believe he knew how much his behavior affected c!tommy cause like he genuinely believed tommy would come around to his plan. still there are instances like the pit where he intentionaly instigated the conflict between tommy and techno. and those kind of moments from pogtopia, now looking back, work really well as the seeds for wilbur's current actions. while he might care for tommy on some level (it feels really like artificial to me idk) he's definitely manipulating him rn calling them family, saying the hotel was a failure and bringing up how much tommy has been through to convince him to stay with him. and cc!wilbur is so good at portraying his bastard of a character and i love his acting on the face cam that he throws in!! it's really fun to watch. and my pronouns are she/her!!! and referring to me as just olwolo is fine!
