I've got a cornflower story for you today. It started with me buying some pretty cornflowers from a nice old lady and putting them in this cute mug-to-vase. My cat Trisha agreed to pose for the photo.
Then I wanted to paint some cornflowers. Here's my setup. I've used this tutorial.
And here's the finished painting! I'm just a beginner and though I wish it looked better I'm still happy I'm getting the hang of working with watercolours. They are tricky, but sooo beautiful and gentle.
Loose watercolor Icelandic poppies! Will be in the shop soon! I thank the lovely Joly Poa and her Skillshare class for teaching me how to make these. You can read more about my adventures in painting these on my Instagram. Here’s a teaser: I got obsessed.
a very big (18x24 inches!) watercolor painting that i did for my draw 101 class! i’m not superrrrrr happy with how it turned out, it feels unfinished but i was working on a tight deadline. maybe one day i'll revisit it 🤷♀️
also, the references i used for painting are of myself so its technically a self portrait!
