“No, widen your stance!”
“I’ve told you, you should stand at a 90 degree angle to the target!”
“What are you doing? You are not Hephaestus at work! Straighten your spine, you fool.”
It was never easy to be at Camp Half-Blood, but when you were the instructor instead of the pupil, it was even more difficult. You knew that not everyone can be a skilled archer like yourself - for instance, the kids of Aphrodite had never been one for archery -, but at least they should seem like they were trying. They should listen to you instead of going after their own heads or daydreaming about their crush in a different cabin. You were their instructor, for gods and goddesses’ sake!
Yangyang, one of the Hermes kids, let out a frustrated huff after another completely missed attempt, and instead of aiming at the target, he put one hand on his hip while holding the bow in the other, ready to throw it to the ground.
“Yangyang, you better not-”
As soon as he heard your authoritative voice and noticed your deadly glare, he pulled his lips into a (faked) innocent, boyish smile. That boy was one for tricks and smooth talking, but you never gave in to such behaviour. You were the daughter of Ares, the god of war after all. You didn’t come here to be messed with - you were determined to teach everyone how to do archery even if they were a seemingly hopeless case. Like Mark Lee who - despite being the son of Apollo, so supposedly excelling at archery - could not aim further from the target each and every time. At least, he was trying though. Even after yet again falling for Yuta’s trick (thinking that he got apple juice from the son of Dionysus, not actual alcohol), being hungover yet again, he was here, making the effort to aim at the target (even though his arrows flew everywhere like a firework).
“I was just imagining myself in a fight. I didn’t actually want to act on my intrusive thoughts,” Yangyang reasoned with a grin, and you just shook your head.
“I must warn you that we will have field archery soon, so if you can’t bring yourself to do target archery now, that will be even harder. As in, the target won’t be in a straight line like now.”
“Yes, I might stand a chance then,” Mark chirped gleefully. “I can’t bring myself to shoot in a straight line, but with field archery, I might have some luck,” he added beamingly, and you respected his optimism even though archery scarcely had anything to do with luck.
Either way, you walked up and down the archery field, correcting postures and suggesting to change bows, taking your job very seriously. After basically saving the world with a few other demigods, you decided to stay at the camp instead of leaving and trying to head for college because you knew that this camp needed some heavy training if there was ever another mission to accomplish.
Even though you were certain you could take on the world yet again, the more trained campers there were, the merrier. Besides, you couldn’t be everywhere all at once - last time you might not have been able to go and come back from the Underworld if Johnny, Kun and the others hadn’t protected the camp from a flock of monsters unleashed from the Underworld. Hades and Zeus had a beef yet again, and of course you had to be the ones to suffer the consequences.
Though it was not only you who decided to stay instead of going to college after finishing school…
“Oh, look who we have here!” The mellifluous voice of Aphrodite’s son reached your ears as you turned around even before he could signal his presence. Your hearing was good, and he didn’t exactly have the lightest steps - unlike yours, you were like a shadow, trained to be invisible and go around silently.
“Ten…” You gritted through your teeth even before you came face-to-face with his grinning face. This boy had too much confidence for someone who walked around half-naked (most of the time) and missed being shot (sadly all the time) when he decided to visit your archery classes. It seemed to be his favourite pastime activity these days.
“Don’t I look dashing today?” He inquired proudly as he swirled around in his robe. Because the damn boy wore a bathrobe, except that he didn’t bother to tie it in the front, so his whole chest was out on full display - much to the entertainment of some girls in your class.
“I would appreciate it if you didn’t decide to march into my class aka march straight into the archery field all the time,” you mentioned, completely ignoring his question, as you pointed around. Ten literally walked to the centre of the field where you were supposed to say your instructions about the next exercise. If he had walked out just a few minutes earlier, someone might have shot him. Mark Lee probably would have.
“I’m sooooorry,” he pouted, but anyone could tell that it was fake acting on his part. No one did fake acting better than the Aphrodite kids. “I love you, Miss Instructor, and I just can’t bear not seeing you even for a day,” he winked at you, and you acted as if you gagged at him.
Just because you had saved the world together once, it didn’t mean that you were anything more than comrades at best. Even though you couldn’t deny that he had been there when you almost had a nervous breakdown because you had doubted your skills… Damn it, why did he have to see you at your worst?
“If you don’t want me to shoot you straight through your heart, I advise you to leave,” you warned him through gritted teeth, but as expected, he turned the tables.
“But you’ve already done that. Eros has nothing on you.”
There were a few murmurs hearing that, and a group of girls blinked at the two of you in confusion. Even though there had been rumours about you two having developed romantic feelings towards each other during the mission, they had died down a few days after your return. However, ever since peace settled into the camp again, the rumours had grown stronger again, and Ten was definitely not helping the situation with his ever so frequent (and very much unannounced) visits during your classes.
“Besides, I don’t think everyone despises my presence as much as you do,” he added smugly as he winked in a few, shushing girls’ direction. They shrieked excitedly at the gesture, acting like stupid teenagers in those stupid teen movies you had seen on TV before you realised that they were a load of trash. Well, they were teenagers after all.
“Shut up, Ten!” You rolled your eyes, and you were ready to push him off the field when he looked back at you, his lips slowly curling upwards, curling seductively, and you knew it, you could feel what was about to come. “If you dare to say ‘make me’, I’ll shove you off right now,” you added before he could open his mouth, but that just fuelled his fire even more.
“Looks like someone knows me too well.”
“Looks like someone chatted way too much on our way to literal Hell.”
“Well, I can’t deny that I had a good time.”
“Well, I didn’t,” you bantered with him because you could not let him win this one. You were the daughter of Ares, you didn’t just lose to a guy with the IQ of a fish.
Ten was about to open his mouth, but Johnny showed up in his usual training clothes, and you knew that it signalled the end of your class because the campers were supposed to have his lesson after yours. Yangyang was overjoyed at the arrival of the son of Artemis while Mark Lee whimpered that he wanted to try some more to see if he could have any luck today.
“Bye bye, Miss Instructor!” Ten waved at you as he was scurrying away, and you couldn’t help but exchange a glance with Johnny.
“He leaves only when the class is over, that dumbass.”
“Not gonna lie, he’s trying hard to get your attention,” Johnny pointed out, bemused, and you couldn’t help but realise that there had not been any rumours about Ten being with girls since you had returned to the camp together. Flirting with girls? Yes, he was still doing that, but he was the son of Aphrodite, it came with his blood, but being with girls and seen kissing girls like he had been before your mission… you had not yet heard such rumours. Maybe that’s why everyone believed that you were actually together.
You shrugged though, trying not to think of the way he looked at you, the way he held your hand and squeezed it and the way he had promised you that everything would be alright when your plan had almost fallen through during your mission.
Tumblr media
Back then, you had just escaped the Underworld together with Ten only to get to know from Persephone that Hades was currently outside, doing god knows what. Meanwhile, storms were raging, tsunamis flooded cities, drought dried out lands of crops, and ultimately, people were suffering and dying as a consequence. That’s what you had always hated about the gods and goddesses: no matter what, they could never find peace, and whenever they stirred up trouble, it affected humans in the human world. Innocent humans, women, men, children, parents, sisters, brothers… All because these so-called mighty immortals could not control their feelings.
Your best chance afterwards had been to visit Hermes because he always knew where to find someone. At least, he knew where to start finding him. However, instead of a direct answer, Hermes had told you that his roadways had been distributed due to the turbulence in weather, so he couldn’t have helped you. Instead, he had directed you to Anemoi, the wind gods, because they might be able to lend you their compass to tell you the direction of Hades. For that, you had to travel to the Tower of the Winds in Athens, and on your way, you had not only lost precious time but also hope.
With Hades’ rage, many monsters from the Underworld had emerged, and you had to constantly battle through them as they had started popping up out of nowhere. You had been hurt, sleep-deprived and very, very tired of this whole thing by this point, no wonder you had not been in the best mood while you had been walking towards the Tower of the Winds (and to do that, you had to go there after closing hours and turn off the security cameras around, so ultimately breaking the law here and there), and Ten had picked up on it.
“Are you going to stay silent for the rest of the mission?” The boy had asked, breaking the silence that had been stretched between you two ever since the son of Aphrodite had realised that you would not react to his words, let alone snap at him for his stupidest ideas.
You had continued walking forward sulkily, not in the mood for small talk, but he had grabbed your wrist, making you turn towards him. Your immediate reaction had been to fight back, but he had seemed to expect that, hence he had yanked your other hand away before you could peel his fingers off.
“Hey, I know you’re mad, but it’s going to be alright. We’ll put an end to this soon, I can feel it.”
“You and your optimism…” You had tsked snarkily, your mood not at all lifted by his supposedly motivational words.
“I know you feel like the weight of the world is on you, and I know you think that I can’t compare to you which is, in a way, actually true because you can kick ass better than anyone at Camp Half-Blood,” he had started again, and hearing that, your lips had curled upwards just a bit. Only a bit. Ten wasn’t one to flatter anyone but himself, so his compliment had meant a lot to you.”But let me share that burden with you, just for the duration of this mission. You can go back to hating me afterwards, but let me help whenever I can.”
“I don’t hate you,” you had blurted out, your voice coming out raspy after not speaking up for so long. Hearing that, the boy’s eyebrows had elevated, and his lips had started to curl into a smile, but before he could have continued, you had added: “I just find you annoying.”
“I prefer annoyingly handsome, but I’ll let it slide this time,” he had joked, and you couldn’t have found the will in you to go against him, not this time.
When he had let his features become solemn again, he had just stared at you for a few seconds, and you had this jarring feeling stirring up something inside your heart. You weren’t one to let anyone close to you, but spending so much time together while hopefully saving the world had undeniably brought you two closer and he had seen you in so many ugly and vulnerable situations (such as meeting your father on the way to Hermes, and having to hear from him that you had been nothing but a nuisance in his eyes because someone who was focused on battle all the time shouldn’t have made the mistake of having a child like you, a girl on top of that even though he had had many love affairs during his lifetime), seen you sleeping with your hands balled into fists, your knife by your side, seen you cry when some monsters from the Underworld had attacked a child, and you couldn’t have saved her… So yeah, the list was long by that time.
“If anyone can do it, it’s you. It will be alright, I promise,” he had told you, and this time, it had seemed convincing. You had felt yourself soften a bit, and may it have been because of your less alarmed body language or the solemnity of the situation, but the boy had squeezed your hand and you had let it, you had let him do so.
For once, you had wanted someone to hold you like that, so you wouldn’t need to be the one to always keep yourself together, and no matter how much you would have wanted to deny it, it had been him. The one you had supposedly found annoying and bratty and self-centered before this very mission.
Tumblr media
“Hey! Are you okay? You had been zoning out a bit,” Johnny’s familiar voice brought you back to reality, and you shook your head in an attempt to shake off the remaining parts of the flashback. You swore you could have felt the ghost of Ten’s touch on your fingers though.
“Yeah, sure, whatever. I still find him annoying,” you clarified as a belated point to your previous conversation, and let Johnny smirk to himself all he wanted, you headed to your own cabin.
A voice in your head gawked at you though, repeating the same word over and over again: liar, liar, liar…
Maybe one day, you will be brave enough to confront your feelings instead of denying them, but that day was not today.

Saw james acaster tonight!! Second row seat! It was the closest ive ever sat to a stage and i see why ppl pay more for it cos it was exhilarating like he was in my phone and then he was there! within reach! I think this is the first time ive been properly starstruck bc ive never been that close to a person i watched on my phone before i could see the textures of his skin and creases in his clothes and it was a small theatre so it felt like he was looking out and make eye contact a few times even tho he almost definitely couldnt see the crowd with the lights and everything. Hes also taller than i thought he would be. Anyway he was amazing straight to the top of my power ranking of stand up acts ive seen live. Hes just so so so good at what he does he talks about hating doing stand up but its like bro u cannot quit this is literally ur calling. The show is called hecklers welcome and he did crowd work for literally half the show not even sure if it was planned?? Cos he started a story and never finished it bc he got sidetracked but hes so good that maybe that was also intentional idk. All the crowd work wouldve annoyed me if it was anyone else but it just seemed effortless for him idk. He made the unfunny heckles funny and it was so evident why hes the professional. Hes a guy whos already talented AND really studies and understands comedy AND i like his type of comedy 10/10 i had high hopes walking in and he did not disappoint

PART TWO: FIRST ANNIVERSARY
Tumblr media
Looking up at the boy in front of you who seemed desperate for you to follow along, you clear your throat as you shift your eyes to his friends. “Um, I thought I told you I was coming here on break.” Awkwardly trying to come up with the right words, the boy watches as you look panicked and takes the seat in front of you. “It must’ve not gone through, babe.” He said, reaching across the table to place his hand over yours. You glared at him, making him immediately retract his hand and laugh it off as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“We’re out Haechan, text us when you’re gonna meet up.” One of the guys from what you can only assume was his friend group said as he got up and gathered his belongings. “What- wait I still wanna come.” The boy, who you just learned is Haechan, whined as he immediately stood up from his seat when his friends made way for the door. “Dude you’re here with your girl, catch up later.” The boy with blue hair gave him a knowing look which caused the boy, Haechan, to pout. “Actually, I was about to go back to work anyway because- yeah, so um it’s nice seeing you, honey?”
Haechan can see how uncomfortable you are and simply nodded as you grabbed your belongings. He walked beside you, making your way to the door before you two part ways. To his surprise, you go off in the opposite direction than him and his friends, not saying another word about the shit show you had to endure.
After the awkward encounter back at the cafe, you went back to work and tried to pretend it never happened. Rubbing your eye with the palm of your hand, you don’t get a good look at whoever joined in the elevator when it stopped midway to your designated floor. Too caught up in the oddly comforting feeling of rubbing the stress and sleepiness from your eye, you lean back with both eyes closed. “Didn’t get enough sleep?” You recognize the voice, humming as you let out a yawn.
“Why didn’t you take a nap on break?” You roll your head toward the voice, opening your eyes to see Jaehyun giving you a knowing look. “I had lunch away from the office and I’m honestly starting to regret it.” The ding of the elevator signals you to get off on your floor. Jaehyun follows behind, slipping his hands into his pockets. “What happened, did you try some weird new restaurant again because if you spend the next 30 minutes away from the desk again I’m gonna shred your computer.”
You furrow your brows, whipping around on your heels to point a finger into his chest. “It’s not my fault, okay, last time I tried that cheap fusion food truck and it gave me food poisoning.” Shuttering, you try to block out the memory of the last time you went away from the office for lunch which cost you a bill from the hospital and toiletries to keep you at bay. “Plus this wasn’t anything that happened with the food, this guy..I don’t know it was weird and I just wanna forget about it.”
“Suit yourself, but don’t be calling for me when your stomach starts to churn.” He says, walking away from you to enter the main office area. You sigh, running your fingers through your hair as you slip between the crowded area till you get to your own desk. Plopping down in your seat, your eyes immediately look at the brightly colored sticky note left by your senior editor. Snatching it from the base of your computer, you groan while crumbling it in your hand. “Someone’s sour today I see.”
“Maybe if Kim Jungwoo didn’t leave cryptic messages at my desk when I’m not there instead of telling me when I’m actually in the office then I wouldn’t want to bash his pretty face in.” Karina smiles at you, leaning against your desk as she watches you throw away the note into a bin. “Do I even want to know what that was all about?” You roll your head towards her, shaking your head before refocusing on the emails you missed. “Gotcha, speaking of pretty faces, Jae told me you met a boy at lunch.”
“How did he tell you that when we literally just got in?”
“He has a big mouth for such a quiet man.” Nodding along, you start to click through emails, sorting through which ones are important and which ones can be pushed back till you get home. “So.”
“So?” Karina smiled at you, leaning towards you as she wiggled her finger. “Don’t play dumb y/n, tell me about the boy!” Rolling your eyes, you shrug her off and go back to what you were doing before. “Uh uh, don’t do that, tell me pretty please? I mean when’s the last time you had a boy to talk about since your douchebag of an ex.” Fighting back a frown, Karina notices how stiff you get and gently rubs your arm. “I’m sorry, I know it’s still fresh.”
With a heavy sigh, you turn your chair towards her. “That’s the thing, it’s been two years and I still can’t seem to get over him or even mention him.” She continues rubbing your arm, knowing all too well how messy your breakup with your ex was. “I really can’t say much about him though, the guy I mean.” She nods, letting you know she’s listening. “He’s cute, I’ll give him that, kinda baby faced in a mature way if that makes sense and he seems almost childlike with the guys he was with but in the moment he was more desperate than anything.”
She smiles, playing with the ends of your hair. “Sounds like you like him.” You give her a twisted look, shaking your head at the thoughts you could only imagine that were starting to play out in her head. “No, uh uh no ma’am, don’t give me that look I literally just met him.” She props herself up on your desk, swinging her legs as her smile widens at your sudden defensiveness on the subject. “Karina, I promise you, he literally came up to me and pretended like we were dating! What kind of guy does that?”
Raising her eyebrows, she leans back on her palms. “Only the desperate boys who wanna slip your skirt d-“ The sound of a loud clearing of the throat caught both of your attentions. Looking at who was standing in the entryway to your small desk space, you see a very unimpressed Taeyong. “I’m not gonna ask what you two are giggling about,” he throws his hands up, wiggling his fingers with one while the other shakes around a manila envelope in the other, “But this is for you sent directly from Doyoung.” With a fake smile, you take the envelope that he ever so kindly handed over, snickering as he left off back to whatever he had found before.
“I hate to see what you did in your past life, karma is a bitch to you.” When your face deadpans, Karina throws her head back in a fit of laughter. You slap at her legs with the envelope, whining as she finds humor in your torture. “I don’t get why Doyoung always sends me the most complicated stuff, like I’m not the only person on the floor.” Putting emphasis on his name, you make a mental note to not get such a nice gift like you do each year for Christmas exchange. And if you’re wondering, yes you do get him a separate gift every year because you simply can. I mean, who wouldn’t, it’s Doyoung.
“Maybe because you’re one of the best editors on the floor.” Smiling, you lean back in your chair while tossing the envelope beside your keyboard. “You always know what to say to me.” Hopping off your desk, Karina flattens out the front of her pants before placing both hands on her hips. “Yeah yeah, work your magic and I’ll see you later.” You wave her off, facing your laptop with no intent on working on the pile of stuff in front of you.
After many excruciating hours sitting in your chair, you read the time and quickly gather your things to head home. You catch a cab to your tiny apartment, dragging yourself up the stairs in hopes you’ll actually make it to your bed before the mental exhaustion takes its toll. Reaching the top of the stairs, you see the door across from yours wide open. “I guess they found someone to fill the room.” You mutter to yourself, slinging your purse over your arm that doesn’t seem to stop sliding down.
As you’re putting your keys into your door, you hear scuffling behind you. “Oh hey neighbor.” Turning around, you meet eyes with the person you literally thought you’d never see again. “Oh, it’s you.” Haechan seemed taken aback, offended to his core when he gasped as he held his chest. “Nice to see you again, too.” If this was your final straw, your 13th reason, you’d probably let the world swallow you hole right on your doorstep and not bat an eye, but knowing Jungwoo he’d still find a way to drag you back to work in the morning.
“Sorry, I’m just too tired and honestly don’t even want to have this conversation.”
“What conversation are we not having?” You can’t tell if he’s genuinely confused and doesn’t recognize you, which only hurts a little, or if he’s just that pretty and that dumb. Maybe a combination of both to soothe your ego a little. “Y’know what- never mind, goodnight, neighbor.” You finally turn the key, unlocking your door and slipping into your lonely apartment. Dropping the bag by the door, you toss your shoes off and convince yourself a hot shower would wash this day away.
And it does, for the most part. Maybe it’s because you shampooed your hair and you feel ten times more clean or maybe it’s because hot water seems to cure every bad mood you had before you got into the shower. Now, you’re hungry and all you want is something warm and to snuggle with your cat till your dreadful alarm takes you away from your sleep. You’re in the kitchen, drying your hair with a towel when you hear a knock at your door. And another and another.
Your only guess as to who it could be was Karina, maybe she and her boyfriend got into a fight again and she wanted to blow off some steam at your place. You go to open the door, being met with a very sheepish looking Haechan who can tell your mood dropped a little at his presence. “What.”
“Okay, firstly ouch, is that any way how you treat a neighbor? I mean I just moved in tod-“
“I’m giving you five more seconds to tell me what you want or I’m shutting the dam-“
“Okay okay fine, uh, can I maybe, possibly just sorta hang out?” Maybe Karina was right, maybe this was your punishment for whatever fucked up thing you did in your past life and now you have to endlessly suffer as if you’re made of steal. Well news flash universe, you’re not, now lay off. “You’re kidding, right?” When his eyes drop down to his hands that he was anxiously rubbing together, you let out a sigh before stepping aside.
He looked up, his eyes almost bright as he looks into yours. “Come in before I change my mind.” Once he stepped inside, you expected him to sit quietly on your couch and do whatever he thought he was gonna do when he got in, but you were far from that reality. The quiet, almost shy, boy who you just so happened to meet twice in one day completely came out of his shell and is now sitting across from you on your floor while sharing a separate bowl of soup.
“So why did you name your cat peanut?” The pet in question, or conversation, came from the hallway and walked around rubbing his body against various things in your living room. “Because my brother is allergic to peanuts and peanut hated him so it seemed fitting.” He smiles, content with your answer as she moves his spoon around in the bowl. “You’re a bad host, you know?” With a mouth full of soup, you chew the contents with furrowed brows. He came to your door, invaded your space, is eating your soup and dares to call you a bad host?
“Excuse me, but you’re the one who came up to me at the cafe and practically forced me into going along with your story!” He scoffs, setting his bowl down in his lap while pointing his spoon at you. “You’re the one who went along with it, look where that got you.” You narrow your eyes, trying to weigh your options on what’s the best way to commit homicide. “Wait-what—why are you even in here again?”
“Well, see now that’s a good question.” His sudden change in demeanor was weird. He suddenly seemed nervous, shifting in his spot as he avoided your gaze. “I actually, uh, have something to propose. Well, more like ask a question if you will, it’s really interchangeable honestly.”
He mirrors you, watching you with hopeful eyes as you start shaking your head. “Oh no, uh uh, don’t even say it.” He hurries behind you, pouting as he watches you set your near empty bowl in the sink. “I didn’t even say anything yet.” You turn around, holding your arms out to prevent him getting any closer. “No, but I know what you’re gonna ask and I’m not—no!” Haechan tries to speak, being interrupted when you shh him. You walk past him when he puts his bowl besides yours, speed walking down your hallway to your room.
“Y/n, don’t leave me in here alone.” God he sounded so whiny, it’s kinda cute if you’re honest, but that’s more of a random thought than a compliment for now. “Wait- how did you know my name?” Turning on your heel, the two of you stop midway in your hallway. “The landlord told me, he said if I ever needed anything to ask my neighbor and I currently am in need!” You turn back, trying to block him out as you enter your room and desperately climb into your bed.
Haechan stands at the entrance of your room, pouting when you reach for your laptop beside your bed. “Do you know how insane this is, I mean we just met today and then you just so happened to move in across from me and now you’re in my apartment, practically in my room,” you take in a deep breath, laughing it out as you open the device in your lap, “and I already feel like I know what you’re gonna ask me and it’s so fucking insane.”
Haechan doesn’t say anything, looking at you with an awkward smile. If you knew him, you’d think he was enjoying this, but that’s the thing is that you didn’t know him. “I know this is crazy and you might try to call the cops, but just hear me out.” You scrunch your nose, staring at him from across the room with crossed arms. “Remember the guys I was with earlier right, they’ve kinda been on me about being in a relationship and in a panic, I saw you and yeah the rest you pretty much know.”
“Do you know how pathetic that sounds, to use a random stranger as a decoy for your love, or lack of, life.” He looks taken aback, almost hurt at your brutal honesty and it leaves a slightly bad taste in your mouth. “Look, I’m sorry for that and almost as sorry as the situation your friends put you in.” He shrugs, running his hands through his hair as he opts to sit against your doorframe. There’s an uncomfortable silence that settles between the two of you, both not entirely sure what to say next and not sure on what to even begin to say to make it better.
You stare at the unopened files on your screen, mentally weighing your options and trying to decide whether to kick him out and potentially file a restraining order or to give him a chance, both seem like they’ll end up in flames honestly. “Look, I’ve seen way too many drama shows and I have a feeling on how this is supposed to go—it may be because I’m sleep deprived or how sad you’re looking right now, but I’ll think about it.”
His face lit up, hope filling his eyes with a certain kind of sparkle that made you feel worse if you’re being honest. “I knew it was a good decision to move here, I just knew it.” He mumbled to himself, smiling as he got up from your floor and brushed himself off. “I’ve got work to do, but we’ll talk tomorrow..I guess?” Nodding, Haechan gave you a salute which made you laugh before turning on his heels and disappearing into the darkness of your hallway. You let out a breath, a breath you didn’t know you were holding and lean against your pillows trying to figure out what you just signed up for.
Just as you start clicking on files, Haechan comes running back to your door. “You should probably lock the door.”
“Oh yeah, that’s a good idea.” Pushing your laptop aside, you get up from your bed and follow behind him.
Tumblr media
The days following your very awkward and yet unclear agreement, you would only see Haechan in the hallway when one of you was leaving as the other was just getting in. That talk you were supposed to have, yeah that never actually happened due to your sudden pileup of work that occupied your time. Just have you been all week, you were currently sitting on your couch with your laptop occupying the space on your lap as you wait for your takeout order. You’re about three-fourths of the way done with what you’re working on when you hear a knock at your door.
Setting the device aside, you get up and go to answer it with your wallet in hand. When you open the door, much to your surprise, you see a very awkward Haechan holding your bags of takeout. “You sure do order a lot of food for one person.” Raising one brow, you reflect the smile he was giving you. “And who said I didn’t have company over?” You step aside, letting him come in and he does just so. After making his way towards your couch, he sets the bags down on the table in the center. You stop to think as you close the door how comfortable he seems when he barely knows you and has only been in your apartment one other time.
“If you did, I probably would’ve heard because, you know, the whole being neighbors thing.”
“Oh so you’re stalking me now?” He rolls his eyes at your comment, plopping down at the end of your couch. “You wish you got that much attention, don’t you.” You grab the nearest thing, good thing for him that it was a pillow, and throw it across the couch—directly hitting him in the head.
“Now that’s enough for a restraining order!”
“Please, if you didn’t wanna be near me then why’d you come to my door?” Haechan got silent, looking down at his hands while you sat back in your spot and started unpacking the food. “That got real deep real fast.” The sound of his chuckle made you smile, making sure to lay out the food across the table for the both of you. Silently, he leaned forward and started to fill up his bowl with toppings of his choice. Both of you started munching down, occasionally setting your food aside to continue your work. “What are you working on?” He asked, leaning into your side to peak over your shoulder.
“Our contract for this unrequited love.”
“Haha, very funny.” Haechan’s sarcastic tone and expression to match made you snicker as you finished up on your report and sent it off to Jungwoo for review. “Just some final notes for an article.” He nods, seeming content with your answer. “That’s not a bad idea though.” When you turn towards him, confusion evident on your face, Haechan then elaborates. “I mean the contract or at least some rules to this,” he motioned his hand between the two of you, “because I can’t tell if you can tell, but I’m desperate as hell.”
“Brownie points for rhyming.”
If you could see whatever went through his head when you said that, you probably would’ve enjoyed it just as much as seeing him throw his head into his hands. “Okay, in all seriousness how are we supposed to do this—I mean we don’t know one another and I’m not very sure I can trust a guy who still plays Michael Jackson till three am.”
Throwing his hands up, Haechan looked both offended and taken aback by your sudden forwardness. ”Firstly, don’t talk about the king like that, he’s a classic and everyone should be blasting his music the way I do, secondly I get where you’re coming from.”
Over the next two hours, the two of you talked about yourselves to help one another get more of an insight of your personalities, laugh at poorly made jokes and eat your way through cheap takeout food. After all that, you two moved on to why he approached you and the reason behind his need for a girlfriend. “So you’re telling me that the tall one,”
“Johnny.”
“Right, Johnny, is getting married and he kept pressuring you get a date for the wedding and instead of telling him you didn’t have one you made up a girl who doesn’t exist and when the one with blue hair,”
“Mark.”
“Yes, Mark, pointed me out as your imaginary girlfriend, you had no other choice, but to approach me and hope I’d play along?”
Haechan took a deep breath, cringing at the way you broke down his story which honestly made it sound worse. “Yeah, pretty much and did I mention they went to meet you before the wedding?” Squinting your eyes, you stare at him with your mouth agape. “You’re kidding me, right?”
“If I was, would I seriously be sitting on your couch right now?”
He had a point, he could honestly be doing anything in the world, probably playing some video game, but like anything other than staring at you like you’re his only hope. “You’re lucky I didn’t call the cops on you or something like a, I dunno, normal person would have.” Haechan falls forward dramatically, grabbing both of your hands and squeezes them as he muffles what you assume is happy screams into your couch cushion.
The sudden move shouldn’t have made your heart jump a little, but it did and you’re not entirely sure why. For now, you’re blaming it on the fact that he’s insanely cute and the greasy food as you feeling a little beside yourself. “Your godsend, truly from heaven itself.” You pull your hands from his grasp, trying to hide the fact that your face feels like it’s on fire. “Yeah yeah, let me go before I reconsider this whole thing.”
“Let me at least take you on the first date before you try to back out—which by the way, will be next weekend at the actual wedding.”
You know that spit-take scene in movies where a person literally spits their drink everywhere because of the shocking news they just received, well that was you when he said that. Only this time it wasn’t in slow motion and wasn’t nearly as awesome, instead you choked halfway through spitting it out and it came back up and out your nose as you tried to save yourself from choking.
Haechan, disgusted you just spit all over him and also worried to see you nearly come to your end, gets up from the couch and searches your apartment for a towel to clean you and him up. When he comes back, you had slipped away to the bathroom to not only hide your embarrassment, but to clean yourself up and change your shirt. After what seemed like enough time to hope he had left, you went back into your living room to see Haechan sitting on the floor and using your couch as a back rest.
“Are you okay because that was—well that was tragic to put it kindly.”
“Can we not mention that, like ever for the rest of our lives would be good.” Sitting across from him, you fold your arms on top of the table, trying to avoid his gaze as you look anywhere but directly at him. He nods, understanding how overwhelmed you just be with all that he’s asking. You can tell by his stance how grateful he is for you and you use that to settle your nerves a bit. After all, maybe this would be a good thing. Maybe all of Karina’s talk about the universe and good karma might actually pull through.
“I’m sorry for roping you into all of this.” When you finally meet his eyes, you could see the sadness that lingered in them as he hung his head. “I don’t want you to think I do this for fun or I’m creepy or anything—I feel really bad for bringing you into something you didn’t ask for.”
Your chest felt heavy as you watched him slump against your couch. The last few interactions with Haechan made you feel like you’ve known him your entire life and seeing him so down had you feeling hurt.
“If you don’t want to do this, tell me please because I just- I don’t want you to go along with this because you feel bad for me.”
“I do feel bad for you, but that’s not why I’m doing this.” When he lifted his head, you could see the smile spread across his lips. “I see this as a an opportunity.”
“To what exactly?” When he leaned in, you did the same. He looked so familiar in this moment, so relaxed and almost kissable. But that’s the last thing you need to be thinking about when his face is damn near touching yours. “Two words: free food.” Watching Haechan gasp, you laugh as he raises his eyebrows at you. “Who said I’m going to pay for your food?”
Shrugging, you look down at your wrist and start to tap it with your finger. “Oh look at that, seems like you’ll have to find another girl who will help you, guess you might as well go ho-“
Haechan jumped up from his seat, moving around the table to grab your wrist. “No no, that’s okay—free food you said, that includes travel rights too?” You almost hate to say it, but this boy was making moves that damn near took your breath away. It sounds almost sad to be so swooned over a boy you hardly know, but there was something about him that just made you feel so at home. Maybe it was the way he laughs at every bad joke you tell or maybe it’s the way he’s way too touchy for your liking and yet you don’t seem to mind it.
Maybe it’s the way his lips are so plump and every time he pouts, you just wanna grab his face and kiss him till you’re out of breath. Maybe it’s the way his hand always feels warm to the touch and you could only imagine how you’d feel with his arms around you.
“Earth to y/n?” The snapping of Haechan’s fingers pulled you from your thoughts, blinking at him as if he was just apart of your imagination this whole time. “What’s going on up there that’s got you so spaced out?”
“Nothing, just thinking about what I’m gonna wear to the wedding.” Haechan looked at you a little longer, his eyes scanning your face to which you assume he’s trying to find something in your eyes. He seems to have bought it, backing away from you to create more personal space for you while he goes back to sit across from you. “Good point, we might just have to go shopping around this weekend to find a dress—oh and don’t forget one for the wedding so that makes two.”
“With what money, exactly? I mean I’m not broke, but I’m not paid enough to buy two dresses I’ll probably only wear once.”
He rolls his eyes at you, pulling his phone from his pocket when it starts vibrating. He doesn’t answer, instead he swipes right on the caller id and brings the device to his ear. From what you can hear from the person on the other side of the phone, you felt like he probably had something important to do. You start to get up, picking up the towels that he used to clean up the couch with. When you left to drop them off in the dirty basket, you return to find your door cracked and Haechan to be missing. Assuming he had went back to his apartment, you start to go and close the door before it swings. Haechan comes in, being followed behind by a guy you don’t recognize.
“Donghyuck, that’s breaking bro-code and you know it.” You’re a little confused as to why Haechan was called by another name, but you stay silent and watched the blonde haired boy cross his arms at Haechan. “I told you Yangyang, I’m not going to give you the girl at my jobs number—she already told me she filed a restraining order.”
Yangyang, the blonde haired guy you assume, pouts as he gets down on his knees with hands intertwined. “Pretty please, it doesn’t even have to be her, it can be someone else, I just need someone man—I’m lonely!”
You watch the dramatic scene unfold in your living room, getting a weird sense of deja vu. After clearing your throat to try and prevent yourself from coughing, both boys look at you with confusion in their eyes. “Are you the fake girlfriend?”
“I guess?” The question threw you off when Haechan’s friend said it so bluntly. “Stop asking questions and go to my apartment.” Haechan picked his friend up from the ground, shooing him out of yours and to the one across the hall. When Yangyang was now in his apartment, Haechan turned to you with a sheepish smile. “I’m sorry for what you had to witness.”
“Don’t worry about it, I’ve had weirder experiences than that if I’m being honest.”
He nods, rubbing the back of his neck as he looks around the floor. “So, I uh, I gotta get back to him or else he’ll probably destroy my apartment.”
“I’ll walk you home.” Your offer had his cheeks turning a slight shade of pink as you followed him from your door to his. Right before he went inside, he turned around and, to your surprise, gave you a hug. You took him in, wrapping your arms around his as you two held each other for what felt like forever. “Goodnight, Haechan.” You whispered as he pulled away, smiling at him. “Donghyuck.”
When you looked at him confused, he shoved his hands into his pockets. “My name is donghyuck, but my friends typically call me Haechan.”
“So we’re not friends?” He shook his head, smiling so fondly at you that you weren’t sure what was real or fake at this point. “Only my special friends can call me Donghyuck.”
That night, his words echoed in your head as you laid in bed staring at your ceiling. You seem quite delusional for falling for someone who you barely know, but boy oh boy does he have you on the edge and you’re ready to give it all just to fall into him. You grab your phone from off your bed, scrolling through your messages till you find Karina’s name.

As Karina swiveled her chair around, you sat on top of her desk while picking at the chipped polish on your nails. “So what’s his friend look like?” You look over at her with a deadpan expression as she wiggles her phone in her hand for you to see. “That’s the least important part of the story and instead of being a good friend you wanna ask about the random guy who practically begged for bitches on my living room floor?” She nods, continuing to wiggle her phone at you until you snatch it from her hand and type in his name.
“That’s all I get?” She frowns, scrolling through the pulled up suggested accounts with the same name. “Look, I only know his name was Yangyang and you better hope I spelt that right.” She looks focused as she continues to scroll through, clicking on an account and holding it up for you to approve—to which you did. “He’s kinda cute.” She coos, looking through his instagram feed while leaning back in her chair. “Karina.” You whine, nudging her leg with your foot as she giggles at her phone. She looks up from her phone, mirroring your pout as she sets the device down and folds her hands together. “Look, I don’t see anything wrong with it, he’s offering to pay for your dresses and he’s incredibly hot from what I saw on his friends page so I say it’s a win-win.”
“How do you know he’s incredibly hot based off his friends page?”
“Duh, you’ve described this man to me so many times I’ve practically seen him through your eyes at this point.” She had a point, ever since Haechan walked into your life, all you seem to do is talk about him and how he makes your stomach is filled with butterflies. “So when’s the wedding again?” You snap out from your thoughts, staring at her with shock. “Huh?”
“His friends wedding, when is it?” For some reason when she first asked the question, you thought she was talking about you and Haechan and that alone had your face turning a slight shade of pink. “Girl please don’t tell me you thought I was talking about your man.” You rolled your eyes, sliding yourself off her desk and pulled down the rolled up pieces of fabric of your pants. “He’s not my man.” She gives you a look that tells you she doesn’t buy your bullshit and swivels her chair back around to her computer. “Tell that to lover boy next time you see him.”
You ignore her last comment and head back to your desk, confused to see a note left by your keyboard. When you pick it up, you read that Xiaojun had eaten your lunch by accident and apologized via sticky note. Crumbling it in your hand, you plop down into your chair in defeat. You throw the sticky note in the trash and start to open up files on your computer when you hear the phone on your desktop ring. Answering, you continue to click open files with the phone to your ear. “Y/n’s office.”
“Hey y/n, it’s winter down at the front desk, this guy is asking for you if you’re not busy.” You check the time on your computer, shrugging as you pin a couple important things before closing off the rest. “Sure, I’ll come down.” After you hang up the phone, you let Jaehyun know you’re going to lunch in which he replies he hopes you get a stomach bug. One of these days you’re gonna poison his food you think—playfully of course.
After a quick elevator ride down, you enter the main lobby of your building and wave at Winter who was standing behind the front desk. She returns the wave with a smile and points over at Haechan who was sitting on a bench by the front doors. In his hand was a bouquet of flowers and his phone. “Um, are you stalking me because if you are then this won’t work, I draw the line at being creepy.” Your voice caught Haechan’s attention, closing off his phone and tucking it into his jacket pocket as he gets up and heads towards you. “No I’m not stalking you, I asked the landlord for your number and where you worked and surprisingly he told me in a heartbeat.”
You make the mental note to stop sharing personal information with your landlord before focusing in on the flowers in his hand. Haechan’s eyes follow yours, looking down at the flowers before handing them over to you. “I thought since I’m your fake boyfriend, I might as well be a good one for compensation on having to deal with the shit show you got sucked into.” You smile at the flowers, looking up to meet his eyes. “Thank you, for the flowers I mean.” He nods, rubbing the back of his neck as he tries to hide his smile. “So, you’re not busy are you, because I totally showed up unannounced, but I figured it was better to do that then text you and you block my number”.
“No, I’m on lunch right now and you chose the best option on that.” He nods, linking his arm with yours and immediately starts walking towards the exit. “Excuse me, but where exactly are we going and why the hell did you feel the need to skip with your steps?” He smiled and if you’re honest, his smile brightened up the entire atmosphere around you. “We’re going dress shopping, duh, oh and to get lunch because I’m a good boyfriend like that.”
You didn’t have time to protest before the two of you were off into the city. He gave you the choice for lunch, picking a taco stand near some shops because you felt guilty for him paying for everything. He would not let you bring out your wallet and even threatened to throw it out the window if you tried to spend your money. The gesture was sweet, but his seriousness made you tuck it safety away in your pocket.
Once you found a dress shop you were comfortable entering, you both entered and looked around before one of the staff took you away while the other walked Haechan around and helped him pick out dresses for you to try on. Once he found a couple different options, you tried them on and the both of you settled on your favorite pick for the first dress that you’d wear to the ceremony. Since the reception was going to be later in the night, Haechan opted for a different dress that was more covering so that you wouldn’t be so cold. When you came out in the second dress that he himself specifically picked, you almost felt too nervous to meet his gaze.
When he turned around from talking to a staff member, he visibly froze when his eyes met with yours. Panic starts to rush through your veins as you pull and fluff the dress in hopes that you don’t look like a total fool. “So, how does it look?” Haechan didn’t say anything for almost two minutes, staring at you with his mouth open. You snap your fingers at him, face turning read as the staff members smile lovingly at you both. “Sorry, I uh, wow.” You look at him dumbfounded, turning around to go back and change out of the dress. Just before you close the curtain, you could feel the warmth from his fingers wrap around your wrist and turn you around. “Breathtaking, to answer your question, you look absolutely breathtaking.”
“I meant the dress.” You mumble as you try to avoid his gaze. “The dress is just a piece of fabric, it’s the person wearing it that gives it such glow.” You couldn’t think straight, your mind going to mush with the lack of space between you and Haechan, the sudden smell of his cologne taking over your senses and his blown-out pupils making you feel almost dizzy. You nod, swallowing thickly as you pull yourself from his grasp and rush into the changing area. Embarrassing is what you’d call that, way too embarrassing to talk about and way too embarrassing to not forget. You opt to pretend it didn’t happen and get dressed. When you hang the dresses on the outer rack, you realize the dress Haechan picked didn’t have any coverage on the shoulders and by time you had gotten dressed, you saw him at the register.
“Where’s the dresses?” You ask, meeting him by his side when he gets his receipt from the cashier. “They’re bagging them up now, why?”
“The second one didn’t have sleeves, you wanted sleeves so I don’t get cold, no?” To see the smile on his face made you confused, there wasn’t anything particular that was funny nor did you say anything for him to be smiling like he just found a million dollars. “I only want you by my side in that dress, the rest doesn’t matter.” You snicker, shoving him as one of the staff members calls his name. He walks over, getting both dresses in their boxes and some simple instructions on how to take care of them in washing. “You two are a beautiful couple.” The cashier’s voice caught you off guard, waving your hands as you shake your head.
“No, you’re mistaken, we’re not together.” Her eyes flicker between you and Haechan, smiling as she looks away embarrassed. “Oh, I’m sorry, I just thought because of the way you two look at one another.” You were just about to ask her what she meant by that when Haechan came back. “Ready to go?” You nodded, following him out the store and back to his car where you two drove in silence back to your job.
He bid you a goodbye and told you he’d keep the dresses till you came by to get them. You promised him you’d be by after work and went back into the building with the biggest smile on your face. With the flowers in one hand, you scanned your ID badge when you entered the building and saw a bunch of weird states from your coworkers. You wouldn’t necessarily call the weird, but they were all smiling at you so sickly that you felt as if you were about to get pranked.
The ride up the elevator was also weird, a bunch of people kept giggling and smiling at you when asking about your flowers and it was starting to make you uncomfortable. As you got off on your floor, you walk down to get to your desk when someone grabs you and drags you into a janitor’s closet. You nearly scream when being jerked to the side until you see Karina with a shit-eating grin on her face. Now that you know you weren’t about to be chopped up into little pieces, you steady yourself and take deep breaths to catch your breath. “You’re fucking insane.”
Staring at her in shock, you slap her thigh to which she winces. “Me, insane? You just drug me into a closet like a psycho maniac and for what?” She giggles into her hand, leaning forward as she sniffs your flowers. “So he brought you fucking flowers girl? We were just talking about him and he shows up with a bouquet and a ring?”
You roll your eyes at her emphasis on a ring. “What ring, we literally—wait firstly who told you he brought me flowers?” She then proceeds to explain how Winter saw you and Haechan and then told Ningning who then told Wendy who then told Taeyong who then told Jaehyun who then told literally everyone. You make another mental note to hunt Jaehyun down and ruin his chance at having kids. “So spill the tea, c’mon, don’t be shy and tell me about your date.”
“It wasn’t a date, he took me to lunch which he wouldn’t let me pay for I might add, he brought me dresses for the wedding he coerced me to be his date for and then drove me back.” She holds her hand over her mouth as she stares at you with a smile. “So he took you on a date.” You then slap her thigh again as she giggles and an unfamiliar smell catches your attention. “What’s that smell?” She looks at you, considering what smell you could be talking about. You lean in, getting a good look at her to realize her hair had been messed with, her lips slightly swollen and her shirt was buttoned wrongly.
You give her a grin as she sees you connect the dots and immediately opens the door. “Oh no, come back and do spill the tea miss Karina!” She covers her ears, trying to block you out as you follow behind her and start pointing out the differences of her appearance from before you last saw her.
Later that night, you kept your promise to go over to Haechan’s, but only after you had taken a very much needed shower did you do so. When you knocked on his door, you could hear the music that was being played stop and a bit of shuffling before the door opened. You expected to see Haechan, but to your surprise you saw someone you weren’t exactly familiar with. The guy who was giving you a weird look was his honestly kind of cute in an intimidating way, but you stopped yourself from thinking that any further than you already did. “Are you gonna say something or are you just gonna stare at me?”
Embarrassed, you avert your eyes from his and try to think of something to say. You don’t know why you feel so under pressure, maybe it was the lack of expression in his face or the fact that he was practically your height, but made you feel small. “Renjun, was that the pizza guy?” You could hear Haechan from inside the apartment, his voice bringing a smile to your lips. Just as you’re about to go back into your apartment and give up on getting your dresses, Haechan comes beside to the boy you assume is Renjun and sees your visible uncomfortableness. “Y/n, hi- oh shit I forgot to give you your dresses, didn’t I?”
“No, no actually I was supposed to come get them, but that’s okay I’m just gonna uhm I’m gonna go home.” Backing away from the door, you signal to your apartment entrance behind you as you see Haechan pout. “Wait, why don’t you come inside and hang out with us?” Haechan, who slipped through the space between Renjun and the wall, made his way to you in hopes to stop you from leaving. Your eyes flicker between Renjun and Haechan, feeling almost guilty for wanting to remove yourself from this awkward situation. “Hyuck, I’m just across the hall, go have time with your friend.”
Haechan’s face softened at the nickname, nodding when his hand brushed against yours. He clears his throat as he steps back towards his apartment, waving at you goodnight as you go back in to snuggle up to your cat. Haechan re-entered his apartment, ignoring the look on Renjun’s face as he plops down on his couch. “What was that and why was that so weird?” Haechan shot a look over at Renjun when his friend started to mirror the look.
“What, I mean from what I just saw from you two, y’all have some weird tension that needs to be solved.”
“Nah, you just scared her away by being that ugly.”
Renjun sarcastically laughs at Haechan’s poorly made joke, flipping up his middle finger at his friend. “I have you know that women find me dangerously attractive.” Haechan snickers, trying to prevent himself from laughing too hard. “Is that what your mom tells you at night?” The last part is what lead Haechan to run for his life around his apartment as Renjun brought various objects for use of a weapon against his friend. Finally after the two made a truce, Haechan decides to text you after remembering how he never did give you his number.
You were a little surprised to get a text when you weren’t expecting one, especially at the hour that it came in. You had been on the phone with Karina while she filled you in on the reason for her shirt being undone and messed up earlier that day. “I literally don’t know what came over me, but I messaged the guy and he ended up being around and we just pounced.”
You laugh, clicking on the message app. “I can’t believe you nearly gave it all to Yangyang.” She laughs, wiping the tears that were in the corners of her eyes from all the giggling you two have been doing. “Me either! I mean I know he’s cute, but damn his lips are magic.” You hesitate to open the unknown message, afraid it could bad someone trying to scam you out of whatever you got and to be honest it wasn’t much, but you knew you wouldn’t let them have your cat peanut.

The rest of the week and a half that played out before the wedding only added more fuel to the fire in your heart that burned for Haechan. He would send you songs throughout the day at random times to which you started adding to a playlist anytime you couldn’t stop thinking about him. He would leave things at your doorstep or drop stuff off at your job for you to get on your lunch break. He occasionally would come over or you’d be invited over and the two of you would spend the night laughing at poorly made moves, singing old Michael Jackson songs at the top of your lungs, which is how you realized that he was literally gifted the voice of an angel, and play board games after the two of you had one too many drinks.
Each time you two were alone and it was late, it always seemed that you were avoiding the inevitable. You could always stop yourself from leaning in and stealing a kiss from his plump and precious lips, but that never stopped your mind from thinking about it. The tension that Renjun mentioned before seemed to only get thicker the more you spent time with him, making it harder to see the line between this all being fake and what was genuinely real.
The morning of the wedding to be specific was when you could clearly tell that the dynamic of your relationship had shifted and there wasn’t much room to turn back now. That alone terrified you because you weren’t sure if you had been the only one feeling the way you felt. You had changed into your dress and made sure to apply minimal makeup to keep yourself from looking like a burnt out clown by the end of the night. Thankfully for you, the dress was comfortable and the venue where the ceremony was being held wasn’t too far.
“Are you nervous?” Your question came unexpected to Haechan, turning his head to give you a quick glance over as he continued his drive to the ceremony venue. “Why should I be, I’m not the one getting married.” He smiled thinking about his friend and the future he was creating from this day forward. Haechan was genuinely excited to see Johnny become a dad and do all the things he knew he was fit for. It wasn’t like Haechan was scared for that part of his future, he did look forward to being married and settling down with his partner, but he never thought he’d actually get that far in life to do so.
“Dunno, just thought I’d ask.” You lean against the window, propped up on your elbow as you watch the buildings pass by. Haechan reached over, grabbing your free hand and intertwined his fingers within yours. A lot of the time he would do this and each time it felt so comforting that silence would take over and all that could be heard was the music that was being washed out by the beating of your heart for him.
You must’ve zoned out because by the time you tuned back in, Haechan was parking the car at the front of the building and waiting for you to realize you had arrived. You got out the car, instantly smelling the salty ocean air beige meeting him around the front of the car and bring your hands up to straighten his bow tie. He smiles down at you, shoving his hands into his pockets as you brush off his tuxedo and fiddle with his hair. You give him a puzzled look, watching as he shook his head and mumbled something along the lines about ‘that was cute’.
The two of you entered the building, you turn to glance back at the beach that looked so relaxing before linking your arm with his. A few people come up to Haechan and you, introducing themselves and complementing the two of you as a couple. You stayed quiet for most of the time, not exactly knowing what to say and Haechan didn’t seem that interested in the people as well. You spot someone familiar, well he’s not exactly familiar, but you had seen him before. The boy with blue hair makes his way over, you choose to step aside and watch as he hugs Haechan as the two smile and pat one another on the back.
“Dude it’s been so long, what’s going on?” After hugging Haechan, the boy you try to remember that is Mark, straightens out his tux, but never falters his smile. “I‘be been busy with work and oh- I want you to meet someone.” To be honest, you weren’t really paying attention when Haechan started walking over to you. His warm hand lifted yours and the sweet look in his eyes made your cheeks feel warm. “This is my girlfriend y/n, y/n this is my best friend Mark.”
You go in to shake his hand, surprised when he pulled you into a hug. “It’s nice to finally meet you, y/n, lover boy over here has literally been talking nonstop about you.” You smile, watching as Haechan mouths to you that he’s going to find your seats. After mark pulls back, the two of you chat a little by the same area, occasionally looking around for Haechan to find him talking to who you assume is his friends. “You know, you’re really good for him.” Marks words had you almost taken aback, turning your head to see him smiling. “At first, I was pretty hesitant because when he told me he had a girlfriend I didn’t believe him, but I’ve seen how happy he’s been and I can’t wait for us to meet again like this, it’s been a pleasure to meet you.”
“Meet like this again?” Mark look slightly embarrassed that you didn’t catch on, but he was being called by his date for the evening so he started to make his way off.
Tumblr media
After the ceremony was over, everyone started to move towards the venue for the rest of the evening to conclude. A lot of people were left in tears, yourself included, by the vows exchanged between Johnny and his now wife.
When the two of you enter the venue, an overwhelming feeling washes over you and makes you grip his hand a little tighter. Haechan seems to notice, giving your hand a gentle squeeze as he guides you through the crowd of people who grouped around the entrance. Once he finds quieter space to pull you two, you were too spaced out to realize how close he had gotten. Both of his hands were on your shoulders, rubbing softly on the exposed skin to calm you.
“Hey, you’re gonna be okay, I’m right here y/n.” His voice brings you in from your thoughts, focusing on in the look in his eyes and how soft his features are in this moment. With a little nod, you let him know you’re with him and he smiles as you pull one of his hands from your shoulder and intertwine your fingers. He takes this opportunity to lead you towards your table where some of his friends you met earlier were seated. You immediately spot Karina and Yangyang at the mini bar just further down from the table and gave Yangyang a wave as he spots you and Haechan.
Haechan’s hand finds its way into the small of your back, immediately getting your attention as you turn your head towards him. “I’m gonna go get us something to drink.” He says, just loud enough to be heard over the music. You nod, standing behind your chair as you look over to the stage. Johnny walks up with the widest smile you’ve seen him sport since he kissed his bride and taps on the microphone a couple times. “Can I have everyone’s attention? Hello, everyone look up here.” Everyone goes quiet and the musics volume is lowered as Johnny looks over at the crowd. “I want to thank everyone coming out to celebrate me and my lovely wife coming together, this first dance will go out to all the new and older couples that are here, please join us in this dance to celebrate love that’s everlasting.”
Just as Johnny raises his glass, Haechan comes back and hands you your drink. You smiled as you took the glass from him and took a sip as the crowd raised theirs with Johnny. Just as Johnny gets off the stage, couples all start to make their way to the dance floor as Johnny gets to his wife and meets her in the middle. “We should go dance.” Surprised, you set your glass down and give Haechan a puzzled look. “Dance? But I don’t know how to dance and this is a couples dance.” He doesn’t take no for an answer, grabbing your hand and pulling you to follow him. “We are a couple.” You can’t exactly tell if he’s still going along with the fake dating charade for his friends or if the light in his eyes was genuine.
It doesn’t take much for you to give in, especially when the most romantic song Dandelions starts to play. Once he found a moveable spot on the floor, his hands circle around to your back and pull you in close. Your hands rest on his shoulders as you try not to make too much eye contact with him inches away from your face. “You’re so beautiful, y/n.” You could feel your cheeks heating up, trying to hide your face from him as you clear your throat. “Likewise, hyuck.”
“Just likewise?” When you turned your head to face his, he seemed a lot closer than you remembered and for some reason that terrified you and relaxed you at the same time. “I mean you are beautiful, very handsome and whatnot.” He laughs and the sound goes straight to your heart. You knew before you gotten to this point that falling for him would be so easy and so hard, but never did you expect for it to be this gentle. “I’m glad you think so, that alone gives me enough confidence to do what I’ve been dying to do.” You tilt your head at his sudden confession, watching as he leaned in and rested his head against yours.
You didn’t know what to do or even what to say, instead you opted to stay quiet and continue to hold him as the two of you danced. Somewhere between the end of Dandelions and the beginning of Golden Hour, your head was now resting against his chest and the two of you were lost in your own world. Haechan brought his hand up to your chin, gently lifting your head up. You blink at him, caught up in the music and the moment, not realizing what was about to happen nor did you want it to stop.
Haechan leaned in, pressing his lips to yours in a soft kiss. Your heart was beating out of your chest as you wrap your arms around his neck and pull him further in. Your brain turned into mush and your body felt like it was on fire as the two of you were caught up in a slow and almost loving kiss on the dance floor. Haechan was the first to pull away, resting his forehead against yours as he catches his breath. You continued to sway with him, moving back and forth as you build up the courage to ask the question you’ve been dying for an answer to. “Will you be my girlfriend, like a real one this time?” Pulling back, you smile at Haechan who looks almost panicked.
“Because if not that’s okay too- like you don’t have to we can totally forg—“ You cut him off by pulling him back in for a kiss. He smiles against your lips, giving your hip a playful squeeze. Once the two of you pull back from one another’s lips, Haechan smiles which turns into a soft string of laughs. “What’s so funny, it’s not exactly polite to laugh after kissing a girl you know.” He tries to explain, failing to when he continues laughing. “Aren’t you glad you got a free trial?” You give him a puzzled look, watching as he steps back from you and spins around on his heel. “Free trial wedding style.”
You couldn’t stop yourself from laughing at the way he poorly described your fake relationship from the beginning, but he had a point. You look back and now thank the universe for bringing him into your life and can’t wait to see what it’ll be like from here on out. Who knows, maybe the next wedding you’ll be at will be yours.

WAYV + SIMPLE DATES !
Tumblr media
[ kun ]
being pushed by him on the swings at an empty playground after all the kids return home and streets slow down and you can finally have a moment of stillness
wraps his own scarf around you since it's a little chilly in the evening
sways you gently until you're asking for more momentum, but he will never not worry about you falling down so he only puts so much force
sitting in comfortable silence with the occasional creaking of the chains as you inhale the air that smells earthy and sink into the embrace of the autumn breeze
you look back and he smiles, eyes crinkling when your gazes lock, and you suddenly feel like you're eight again with nothing to fear
[ ten ]
wearing matching pajamas and brushing your teeth together after indulging in way too much sugar for the night
he gets even louder and more unhinged than usual when all the sugar in his system hits
your shared playlist is playing in the background, volume turned up loud enough that he has to scream over the music to communicate with you but you both like it that way
laughs at all the foam that sits on your mouth as you brush your teeth when he doesn't look much neater
bumps his shoulder into yours when you make eye contact through the mirror but fakes pain when you do the same back and claims you have to kiss it better
[ winwin ]
dragging him out to grocery shop after you opened his fridge and noticed that there was barely anything edible
pushing the shopping cart side by side with hands resting just close enough on the handle
he gets distracted and sneaks a few packs of junk food into the cart that you side eye because they're not filling, and he definitely tilts his head and gives you puppy eyes for permission to get more ice cream
but also remembers to stock up on your favorite snacks for when you go over
hands you the lightest bag and then tries to carry everything else back into the house at once because two trips are for the weak according to him
[ xiaojun ]
napping at 6am because you stayed up all night pondering life and made sure you had someone (him) to ponder with
doesn't even have to be something deep because he will stay up to debate whether humans have one butt or two
but now you both look like zombies and have eye bags that sink all the way down to your cheekbones, so you finally put the debate aside for a moment and crawl into bed
he sets the alarm for 8am and giggles almost hysterically for a second out of disbelief because did you two really just forgo sleep to talk about butts
tenderly interlocks his fingers with yours before he shuts his eyes and mumbles that he's definitely right about the debate
[ hendery ]
assembling furniture together after a spontaneous trip to ikea that resulted in bringing home a shelf that you definitely didn't need but wanted regardless
unboxing takes an hour because he got distracted by the bubble wrap and challenged you to see who could pop them all quicker
purposely rolls up his sleeve and unnecessarily flexes his arms when he's using the screwdriver and sends you a wink that has you fake gagging
is actually very focused on trying to decipher the instructions when you both finally get to work
proudly moves the finished product to the place you want it and tells you to put a framed photo of him on the shelf so everyone who visits can see his beautiful face
[ yangyang ]
watching a romantic comedy movie where the characters are dancing in the rain and suddenly he's pulling you off the couch so you can do the same on your small balcony
the downpour is sharp and almost feels as if it's trying to pierce through your skin that grows colder by the minute
it's a little awkward at first and you have no idea what you're supposed to do, but he rubs the rain out of your eyes and tugs you close
you forget about the cold rain when he dramatically twirls and dips you, and you erupt into a fit of giggles as the thrill hits you
makes sure to dry your hair with a towel after you take a warm shower and kisses the crown of your head

WayV hard thought perv scale?
WayV Hard Thoughts
Ot6 Perv Scale ——————————————————————— Most
Ten is number one on the list. He has lots of pervy thoughts and isn’t afraid to speak up about them. Everyone sees his comments as a bit of comedy, but you, his beloved boyfriend, know that these thoughts were genuine. Ten loved telling you all about his fantasies, seeing you flustered really did something to him. He also loved making those fantasies come true, pushing you a little further. Ten isn’t afraid of a bit of PDA either! He likes touching you in public, working you up during a fancy dinner or riling you up during a shopping trip. This man has zero shame.
Hendery is a close second. He is a flirty perv, making small comments in your ear or sneaking glances at your body. He is a very clingy boyfriend, never leaving your side either. He likes being able to touch you whenever he feels like it, whether it be holding your hand or resting a hand on your ass. He loves being in contact with you 24/7. Because he’s around you so much he can’t help but have these wandering thoughts of you squirming at his touch. He just wants to have his way with you <3
Kun is a closeted freak. Kun is the type to observe. He doesn’t have to say anything or touch you in anyway, he just has to watch you. He loves the way your body moves and your skin glows, it’s just so enticing. He loves dancing around the house with you, basking in your glory. He’ll constantly ask to visit you when you take baths or showers, innocently insisting to wash your body. He loves his beautiful boyfriend.
XiaoJun is only a perv when the moments right. Sure he’s a flirt, but he is a sweetheart! The only time those thoughts flood his mind is after a long day of work or when you two go out for late dates. On hard days he loves to come home and feel up your body, running his hands over your perfections and imperfections. He isn’t pervy, he just loves the way you feel (lies)
WinWin isn’t a pervert, just a loving boyfriend. He likes to take you on sweet dates and cuddle you at night. He likes cheesy pick up lines, but he doesn’t like flirting. If he wants something, he’ll ask for it. If he wants to have sex then he’ll ask you, genuine innocence plastered all over his face. No perverted thoughts what so ever, just love.
YangYang has never had a perverted thought in his life! He doesn’t like to think of you like that because it makes him uncomfortable. YangYang doesn’t just see you as his boyfriend, but he also sees you as his best friend and best friends don’t have secret nasty thoughts about each other. Or at least that’s what he thinks. He loves to cuddle though! He will need physical affection constantly, no excuses, you’re his boyfriend after all.
Least——————————————————————— Thanks to @triplejracha for help and ideas with this ask <3

pet names + dreamies.
genre: fluff, established relationships with non!idol dreamies
cw/note: none, enjoy! will be doing wayv and 127 soon :) take care of yourselves. very much not proofread oops
mark... babe, hes a simple man. calls you baby sometimes too but everytime he does a part of him dies inside lol. pegs me as the type of guy to also say kid? or buddy? esp when ur being silly idk. calls you love on special occasions but he loves your name anyway! thinks its funny when you call him stud haha, but also prefers babe or just his name? idk i dont think he cares too much about that but def would call you things imo
renjun... love but also something artistic and celestial! calls you divine during intimate and more sweet moments but opts for love/lover. has you in his phone as the name of a god/goddess bc to him thats what you are. also uses the anotamical heart emoji for your contact instead because he thinks its more meaningful. likes it when you call him charming or prince, something soft but he prefers ren, he likes the way it sounds when you say it
jeno... gorgeous, bunny, a shortened version of your name he came up with! he doesnt seem like he would want to use traditional pet names, he gets kinda bored. always changes them up but always calls you something along the lines of pretty, gorgeous or cute at least a couple times a day. also likes babe in general, his number is saved as casanova and he had to google what it meant and once he figured out what it meant he went "aouh??" that shocked face and sound he always makes. he feels he needs to step up his game now
haechan... anything tbh? super cheesy and annoying but theres times where all he wants is to be lovey dovey. calls you poppet if you're smaller than him because he thinks it sounds silly. he thinks he sounds like a knight when he speaks in medival language, hence why he also calls you princess/prince or any royalty type term. likes to say your pet names in a british accent bc.... idk. LOL anyways!!! he loves you and he takes your phone to change his contact name into something different almost every month, a menace
jaemin... angel 1000%. sometimes he doesn't even have a name for you he just whines and groans until he gets you to do whatever he wants. hes definitley a pretty girl/boy/baby type of guy! tbh i can see him calling you honey even though you tell him its corny, thats one of the reasons why he does it though, he likes to see your reactions muahaha. you call him bunny duh, but his name on all your socials is bunny boy
chenle... babe, baby. super chill boyfriend tbh. likes to call you stupid names as a joke esp when you're angry. calls you daegal's other parent. also likes to call you parental names like mom or dad when you scold him because he knows it makes you more mad than you already are LOL. but overall doesn't seem too keen on pet names, would mostly opt for your name with an ie or y at the end to make it extra cute
jisung... babe, your name, or shorty. even if you're his height or taller he likes to shorty and idk why. he likes babe, its simple and he already gets babied and teased enough so i don't think he would go for anything overly sweet unless it was you two alone. you're in his phone as my #1 with a bunch of ring, marriage and fire emojis. he thinks its peak comedy lol. has called you love on a few intimate occasions but just keeps it to your shortened name and ji for him since you both usually don't have very much alone time

snakes on the plane
Tumblr media
Pairing: fraud!pilot!Jaemin x stewardess!reader + wayv as cameos
Themes: 18+ | mostly smut | a sprinkle of fluff | comedy | action? | kinda pwp when I think about it now
Word count: 6.9k
Summary: Jaemin is a fraud. Counterfeit credit cards, identity theft, deceit – Jaemin has mastered them all. Tired of the chase, Jaemin decides to do one more job before his official retirement. He got his brand-new pilot uniform, fake flying license, and a lot of charisma to convince everyone to think he actually knows what he’s doing. Too bad you’re on the plane and ruin his meticulously calculated escape plan.
Warnings: jaemin does illegal stuff | drinking | ❗ there are no actual snakes in this fic 😭 | loosely based on “catch me if you can” movie but with a twist? | rude passengers with grabby hands | Ten throws a fit | sexual tension | making out | teasing | hickeys/marking | handjob (both parties receiving) | dry humping | jaemin fucks reader against the wall while she’s wearing a little sundress | safe sex |
A/N where are all the jaemin pilot fics I saw people talking about? Anyway, here’s mine. Have fun, besties ✨✨ another jaemin fic coming next week!
“You guys won’t believe who’s the second pilot on our flight today,” Charlotte said as soon as she walked inside the crew cabin. “It will be his first flight under our company’s name.”
“What do we even need a second pilot for anyway? Have we ever needed one? No. Kun is doing all the work whenever he’s on board,” Ten added with an eye-roll, adjusting his uniform, making sure he looked spotless. “Second pilots are a scam. They could help us clean up the first class. It’s so messy. I swear to God, I’m gonna quit if I have to remove cum stains from the leather seats one more time.”
“Are you done?” You deadpanned, amused with Ten’s descriptive narrative. You could hear him nag for hours. He always had some juicy story to share. Moreover, his passionate and over-the-top energy made his stories funnier than it actually was.
“Who is he?” Yangyang asked, genuinely curious.
“Here,” Charlotte showed the picture to Yangyang, gesturing for him to pass the phone among all of you. “His name is Na Jaemin. Look how ridiculously good he looks in the uniform,” she added, and you nodded your head along as you couldn’t disagree with her.
“Do I have to remind you that you’re in a committed relationship?” Yangyang remarked as he handed you the phone to ogle the picture. “You wouldn’t want me to snitch on you, would you now?”
“I like that attitude. You should try as many dicks as you can. Seduce him,” Ten interjected, representing a completely different mindset than Yangyang. While Yangyang was an angel, reminding Charlotte that she already had a deep connection with her boyfriend, Ten embodied a little devil, trying to convince her to sin.
While the guys were bickering about monogamy and casual sex, you stared at the photo, zooming in on Jaemin’s face. He looked messy and tired but still attractive. His honey blond hair was swept to the side, and it appeared so soft you felt a sudden urge to run your hand through it to see if its texture was as silky smooth as it seemed.
His uniform fitted him perfectly, accentuating his broad shoulders and athletic build. The first button of his shirt was undone, and his tie was loosely hanging around his neck. A part of you wanted to help him readjust it, but the other thought Jaemin rocked that nonchalant messy look.
“Someone’s drooling,” Ten tutted, and you quickly shook your head, trying to save the last bits of your dignity. Thankfully, he managed to pull you out of this train of thought before your mind got a chance to wander off to really inappropriate images.
“Let’s get back to work,” you cleared your throat, readjusting your skirt as you stood up. “People will start boarding the plane soon, and it’s a complete mess,” you added, offering a faint smile.
Charlotte, Yangyang, and Ten groaned in unison that they, in fact, had to get back to work but followed your order nonetheless. All of you wanted to receive your paychecks, after all.
***
“Good afternoon; I am your pilot, Na Jaemin. Welcome to flight Chicago 127 to Cuba,” Jaemin spoke through the microphone, using his funny kindergarten teacher’s voice, making you chuckle. “We will be taking off right after safety instructions. If you need our assistance, don’t hesitate to ask our lovely staff for help. Thank you, and enjoy your flight.”
Getting the passengers to actually focus for a second seemed almost impossible. However, Ten and Yangyang managed to get the job done. Carefully, they explained the safety procedures, repeating themselves enough times for everyone to understand everything.
“Only five more hours to go,” Charlotte entered the break room, plopped down in her chair with a huff, and threw an empty tray onto the desk. “I hate these heels,” she added as she kicked off her shoes, giving herself a quick massage to ease the pain in her soles.
“We took off half an hour ago,” Yangyang remarked, making her groan in annoyance.
“I don’t want to return there. The guy from 13B is a total creep,” she carried on, and you clenched your fists in anger. Some guys from the first class disgusted you – they bought an expensive ticket and thought it entitled them to fool around with the staff. “He groped my thigh when I was distributing champagne flutes. If his hand went any higher, it wou –
“I’ll take care of him,” you offered as you were sure you could reason with him. In times of need, you could be really persuasive. “I’ll talk to him, and if that doesn’t teach him a lesson, we’ll send a mob to finish him or something,” you added, and Charlotte and Yangyang laughed, thinking you were joking.
Smirking, you let them think it was just a figure of speech.
“I heard moans coming out from the lavatory. People need to stop doing that,” Ten groaned as he entered the room to have some peace and quiet during his short break. “High-mile club is so overrated,” he added, passing by a snack cart, stealing a can of coke for himself.
“I remember when you were renewing your membership a few times a week. It wasn’t overrated then,” Yangyang remarked as he tossed a red gummy bear in the air to catch it with his mouth.
“Shut the hell up! It is lame now,” Ten huffed, taking a few large gulps of his carbonated drink.
“I’ll make a round around the first class,” you announced, volunteering to deal with the rude passengers on Charlotte’s behalf. You knew how to reason with this type of people – you’d use your communication skills to good use, and Charlotte would take some time off to rest. “I’ll be right back,” you added as you stood up. You were bobbing your head slightly as you were repeating the seat number of that nasty guy with grabby hands.
You approached the doors, and with your hand on the knob, you turned around to give your co-workers a reassuring smile before your departure. Unfortunately, when you yanked the doors open, someone was trying to push them from the other side, which resulted in you, not so graciously bumping into them.
“I’m so sorry,” you said, trying to take a step back, only to wince in pain when your hairpin and the shoulder strap on the man’s jacket got stuck together. For a short while, you stood there, awkwardly bowed, trying to untangle yourself without pulling half of your hair; unfortunately, in vain.
“Let me,” the man said, offering his help. You could feel his hands on your scalp as he tried his best to separate the two of you. “There you go,” he whispered, handing you back your hairpin.
“Thank you, Jaemin,” you answered with a sheepish smile as you looked up and recognized him. He must’ve left the pilot cabin to introduce himself to the rest of the crew. Too bad you were on your route to check up on the passengers. You’d have to have a chat with Jaemin on a different occasion.
“No problem,” Jaemin smiled, looking at you curiously.
You made your way to the first class, attending to the passengers with utter politeness. However, all your effort went down the drain as soon as you reached seat number 13B.
“Is there anything I can help you with, sir?” you spoke in your overly-courteous customer voice, offering him a faint smile.
“Where is the other chick? I ordered my lunch ages ago,” the man carped, throwing his hands in the air out of childish annoyance. Who knows, if he weren’t such a disgusting person, you might’ve sympathized with him.
“What have you ordered? I’ll make sure you receive your meal shortly,” you replied, and he hummed in wonder as his hand landed on your exposed knee. The man kept talking, but you couldn’t pay him much attention when his filthy hand felt up your skin.
“Sir,” you cleared your throat as his hand inched upward. It was the last straw. You gave him three seconds to pry his hand off, and when he didn’t, you grabbed his thumb and twisted it around until you heard a painful crack. It definitely required urgent medical attention, but you couldn’t bring yourself to care.
“You bitch,” he yelled at you, trying to smack you with his other hand, but you squeezed his finger tighter, shutting him up.
“Listen up,” you hummed as you leaned forward to his level. “You’ll apologize to the other flight attendant once she comes with your order. And if she mentions you tried to touch her without consent, I’ll break all of your fingers and shove them up your a–
“I get it, just let me go,” he whined, trying to wiggle his hand out of your tight grasp.
“That’s what I thought,” you added with a smirk, letting go of his hand. “You may want to get it fixed once we land.”
***
After you confronted the man from seat 13B, the flight was uneventful. Without much trouble, the plane made it to Havana airport on time. The passengers were taking their sweet time to exit, but all of you patiently waited for them to leave, wishing them a pleasant stay in Cuba.
It was past 9 pm when you checked into the hotel. The airlines provided four rooms for the crew. You were rooming with Charlotte, while Yangyang was with Ten. Kun and Jaemin, thanks to their pilot privileges, secured private rooms.
“Do you want to go out? I could have some drinks to take the edge off,” you asked Charlotte as you entered your room. Having thrown her bags onto the floor, she plopped on one of the beds. You could tell she wouldn’t leave the room unless it was absolutely unnecessary.
“Actually, I was thinking I could Facetime with my boyfriend,” Charlotte replied as she pulled out her phone to skim through her notification tab. “You should ask Ten and Yangyang. They were talking something about a beach party. I promise I’ll tag along next time.”
“Yeah, no problem, I’ll figure something out,” you smiled as you tossed your suitcase onto your bed, looking for a suitable outfit for a night out. You had a few sundresses to choose from. When you showed them to Charlotte to judge, she was adamant about the red floral one on thin spaghetti straps, which revealed lots of legs, shoulders, and cleavage.
Following Charlotte’s fashion advice, you stepped out to the bathroom to take a quick shower. You needed to freshen up after the flight and wash all traces of exhaustion.
You let your hair flow naturally down your back, putting a beautiful red carnation hairpin to keep stray hair away from your face. It matched nicely with the sundress, and you loved the outcome. Having applied red lipstick and sexy eyeliner, you walked out of the bathroom, waiting for Charlotte’s approval.
“How do I look?” You asked, twirling around, letting her see the final look.
Charlotte was staring, trying to come up with a coherent compliment. Upon seeing you in your complete party attire, her mind short-circuited. “You look hot,” she finally said, giving you two thumbs up.
Though joining Ten and Yangyang at that beach party seemed fun, you decided to stay at the hotel. You were planning to use all of the benefits of your all-inclusive visit to the establishment. The airlines were covering the costs of your stay, and nothing could stop you from opening the tab at the lounge bar.
You used the elevator to get to the ground floor, where you asked the man at the front desk to guide you to the bar area. Once there, you looked around, searching for an unoccupied table to sit down at. Carefully, your eyes scanned the area until they stopped on a familiar figure sitting alone by the bar – Jaemin. You smirked as you studied his casual outfit.
Though Jaemin was incredibly handsome in his pilot uniform, the look he was sporting now was just as flattering. His white cotton shirt had its first two buttons undone, revealing a thick silver necklace resting against his honey skin and between his collarbones. Despite the scorching weather, his legs were wrapped in a pair of light blue jeans. His silky hair was now a bit frizzy (probably due to humidity), and it added a cute highlight to his overall sexy look.
Jaemin noticed you shortly after you entered the lounge, beckoning you to join him. Swiftly, he studied your features, taking in all of your beauty. You could swear Jaemin licked his bottom lip when he checked you out, but you decided to give him the benefit of the doubt that he respected you enough not to do that.
“What can I get you?” The bartender asked you when you placed your purse on the bar and climbed on the barstool next to Jaemin. You looked at your companion to see what he was having in search of inspiration. Much to your disappointment, Jaemin was sipping his mojito, and it wasn’t enough to cut it after your frustrating shift. You definitely needed something with a kick.
“Tequila, please,” you ordered with a polite beam, choosing the quickest way to get buzzed.
“I don’t think we had a chance to properly introduce ourselves. I’m Jaemin,” he courteously said, stretching out his arm to shake hands with you. “You have a beautiful name,” Jaemin added with a wink as he gently tugged your palm to place a kiss against your skin. “How do you like it here so far?” Jaemin mused before he wrapped his lips around the straw, taking a sip of his drink.
“It’s so hot, but I like it here,” you answered, smiling at the bartender who placed your order on the bar right in front of you. “Thank you, Lucas,” you beamed as you read his nametag. “I’ll be having more of these; please be on stand-by,” you joked, and Lucas offered you a knowing wink before he walked away to serve other people. “What about you? Are you having fun?” You inquired, gently nudging Jaemin’s side before you swung your shot glass, pouring tequila down your throat.
“More than I initially thought,” Jaemin admitted, slurping the rest of his drink until there was only ice in the glass. “Can I get a refill?” Jaemin asked Lucas as the latter approached you with a bottle of tequila, unprompted pouring you another shot.
“Naturally,” Lucas replied, fixing Jaemin another mojito. “Do you have plans later? My shift ends in an hour, and there’s this beach party. Do you want to go there with me?” Lucas turned to you, boldly asking you out. Taken aback, you looked at him and then at Jaemin, trying to politely reject his advances. You were fluttered, but you didn’t really feel like leaving the hotel tonight.
“Sorry, I have to pass,” you replied, avoiding eye contact with Lucas as you downed your liquor.
“No worries. If you ever change your mind, I’ll be here.” Lucas smiled, suggestively wiggling his eyebrows at you.
“Thank you,” Jaemin said when Lucas handed him his fresh minty drink.
“Do you mind leaving the bottle?” You asked Lucas as you were more than capable of pouring your own shots. After all, there were plenty of people at the bar waiting for drinks, so the least you could do was to save Lucas the hassle. “Thank you.”
Feeling somewhat buzzed, you bobbed your head to the rhythm of the music. You didn’t know the song nor the artist, but your feet were itching to hit the dance floor.
“Where are the others? Don’t tell me they’re hiding away in their rooms,” Jaemin asked, looking around, wondering what the rest of the crew was up to. He was hoping for some integration, but it didn’t seem like it was happening tonight.
“Ten and Yangyang went to that beach party everybody is talking about,” you started, and Jaemin hummed, nodding his head. “Charlotte, on the other hand, is having cyber-sex with her boyfriend over Facetime,” you added, and Jaemin spat his drink, taken aback by your unfiltered honesty. “I don’t know about Kun. He must be taking advantage of his pilot privileges.”
“Kun’s out, actually,” Jaemin revealed, and you looked at him, wanting to hear more about Kun’s business. “He’s meeting his fling tonight.”
You knew it was common practice for pilots to have women in every city at their beck and call, but there’s a lot of decency to Kun, so you thought he was different.
“I guess that means you’re stuck with me,” you stated with a smirk, genuinely glad everything turned the way it did. You could have Jaemin to yourself tonight without anyone to steal him away. “Do you want to dance?” You asked, craning your neck to the side, watching people having fun on the dance floor. You shook your shoulders to the rhythm, hoping for Jaemin to follow suit.
“I’m good,” Jaemin said, rejecting your proposition.
At first, you were disappointed with his reply, but you quickly shook it off. There were a dozen of other men who would kill to have a dance with you anyway.
“Your loss,” you whispered, downing another shot. “You can watch,” you teased as you pushed yourself off the barstool. Without looking backward, you walked toward the dance floor.
“Can I have this dance?” A handsome man asked you for a dance, and you grabbed his hand, letting him lead you to the middle of the dance floor. “You’re the most beautiful woman in here,” he whispered into your ear as he twirled you right into his arms, swaying his hips in sync with yours.
“You tell that every woman,” you replied with an eye roll, suspecting his compliment wasn’t as genuine as he tried to make it seem. It didn’t bother you that much anyway; you just made that remark to tease him a little. It’s not like he’d get anything more than a dance.
“I only say with I mean,” he confessed, and you giggled, following his footwork. “Is the guy who is glaring at me your boyfriend?” He inquired, and you were quick to answer that Jaemin was just a friend. Gingerly, you stole a peek at Jaemin. His jaw was tense as he watched you dance with the handsome stranger, internally fuming.
Na Jaemin was acting envious – God, how much you hoped for him to grow a pair and snatch you away. For a brief moment, his eyes met yours, and you smirked, challenging him.
Jaemin liked to think he was a collected person, but now, you were pulling all the right strings to frustrate him. Your previous conversation was short, but the suggestive tone riled him up. Without a shred of doubt, you could seduce a man with ease, and Jaemin cursed himself for actually wondering if he should steal you away. The way that random man’s hands were feeling you up really rubbed him the wrong way.
“Fuck it,” he huffed, downing his mojito in a few large gulps.
Although you were dancing with a talented dancer, your gaze wandered off to Jaemin. You found it incredibly hot when Jaemin was draining his glass. Jaemin’s head was tilted back, giving you a perfect angle to watch him swallow the beverage. Suddenly, you felt thirsty, too.
“I think it’s my turn,” Jaemin yelled over the music, yanking you against his frame.
“What took you so long? I was slowly losing hope,” you jabbed as you bit your lip, letting Jaemin take the lead. “You know salsa? Jaemin, I am impressed,” you added, and Jaemin smirked, enjoying the way his name rolled off your tongue.
“I am a man of many talents,” Jaemin bragged, smirking. You had no idea how much information his statement carried, and your obliviousness amused him. “You have no idea,” he whispered into your ear as he twirled you around. With one hand on your hip, Jaemin danced, leading you through the dance floor. You were in the center of attention, and people seated by the tables watched your sensual performance in awe.
You had no idea how many songs you danced to with Jaemin. Your eyes were trained on his as you swayed to countless melodies. You were so consumed by his lustful gaze you didn’t even notice when the crowd inside the bar decreased by half. Dancing with him felt so intimate you didn’t pay much attention to your surroundings. You were lost in Jaemin’s arms, in the middle of the dance floor, swaying your hips in the brisk rhythm.
“I really want to kiss you right now,” Jaemin finally confessed when he couldn’t deal with the sexual tension any longer. He was frustrated beyond reason, and he could only hope the feeling was mutual. He couldn’t be the only one who felt that alluring magnetism between you two.
Instead of giving him your verbal consent, you took the initiative and surged forward, smashing your lips against his. The kiss was needy, desperate even, consuming the both of you. His hands cupped your face to hold you in place as he slipped his tongue inside your mouth, making you moan in pleasure.
“Let’s go to your room,” you breathed out, but Jaemin ignored your proposition, pulling you against his chest. Jaemin leaned in to nip at your lip, kissing you with utter passion. It was unlike of him, but you made him unreasonably insatiable. “Jaemin,” you said when he pulled away to take a breath.
If it was up to him, he’d fuck you, right here, right there. Jaemin was so doomed he would’ve railed you in your silly sundress in the middle of the dance floor if you let him. He didn’t even give a shit about the people at the bar; for all he cared, they could stay and watch him make you come.
“Ugh, fine,” Jaemin whined as he pressed his forehead against yours, trying to calm down and think straight. “Let’s go,” he added, giving your butt a playful spank, escorting you out of the dance floor. “Don’t forget your purse, princess,” Jaemin tsked, taking pride in making you fail to remember about your belongings.
Having pushed the button corresponding to the level where his room was, Jaemin turned to you and pressed you against the elevator’s wall, capturing your lips once again. Right now, there were no spectators (maybe except for the staff watching the CCTV tapes), and Jaemin felt shameful enough to sneak his hand under the hem of your sundress.
Jaemin expected you to push him away and nag him, so it came as a surprise to him when you buckled your hips, encouraging him to continue his sinful ministrations.
“Someone’s impatient,” he tutted, smirking at you before he shoved his tongue right back, taking your breath away.
“Look who’s talking,” you challenged as you looked downward, checking out the tent he was sporting in his jeans. “These jeans seem tight. It must hurt,” you cooed in fake sympathy, stretching your arm to feel how hard he already was. Too bad Jaemin grabbed your wrist mid-air, stopping you from teasing him further.
“Don’t do that, princess,” he warned you, holding your hand tightly if you tried to cup his length again despite his protest. Your teasing felt like you had the upper hand in this situation, and it wasn’t what he was used to.
“Fine,” you pouted, deciding not to wriggle your wrist out of his hold.
After a minute of humming to the generic tune, you heard a ping, and the elevator doors slid open. It was a success that you made it to Jaemin’s floor, and the both of you still had your clothes on. You seriously doubted you could keep it together for that long.
Letting go of your hand, Jaemin reached into the back pocket of his jeans to pull out the key card. Quickly, he unlocked the doors and pushed them open, letting you enter first.
“Your room is way better than mine,” you stated in awe, staring at the posh interior. The company should value its employees equally, but there’s nothing you could do to fight the pilot privilege.
“You’re more than welcome to stay in my room,” Jaemin declared, and you smiled, wondering whether he meant it as a regular thing or just tonight. You didn’t peg him for such a considerate person, and you were positively surprised he even made such a proposition.
“Where were we?” You asked as you draped your arms around Jaemin’s neck, pulling him into a fervent kiss. Instantly, Jaemin rested his hands on your butt, holding you tightly against his frame.
“I want to be inside of you so badly,” Jaemin moaned before his lips moved downward, nibbling the delicate skin of your neck. Having you pressed against the wall, with your legs wrapped around his hips, did a number on him.
“Jaemin, wait,” you whispered, craning your neck to the side, hoping he’d stop for a second. “There’s something I need to tell you,” you confessed, trying your best not to give in to your sinful urges. You could feel physical pain because he was too far away, yet you needed to come clean.
“What is it?” Jaemin hummed, paying you little to no attention, hyper-focused on peppering your exposed cleavage with gentle kisses. “I’m sure it can wait until morning,” he added, and you cupped his cheeks, making him face you. “Okay, fine,” Jaemin huffed, ruffling his hair as he took a step back, giving you a chance to speak up. “What is it? I’m listening.”
“I know who you are,” you disclosed, and Jaemin looked at you with a cocked eyebrow in confusion.
“So?”
“You don’t understand. I know who you really are,” you rephrased, hoping Jaemin would get the hint. For a genius fraud, he was pretty slow tonight. Apparently, all of the blood went from his brain down to his crotch. “And I’m not a flight attendant. It’s just an elaborate act.”
“Who do you work for? Interpol? CIA? ” Jaemin barked at you, pressing his forearm against your throat as if you were a threat to him. If you wanted to take him down, you would’ve done so before he had boarded the plane.
“Ew, I am not working for the police,” you revealed, smacking his arm away, taking offense. Did he seriously think that someone from the police could track him down so effortlessly? The law enforcement was just a bunch of idiots – the best police units wouldn’t find Jaemin nearly as quickly as you did. “How could you think that? I am disgusted.”
“Who do you work for then?”
“I’m a part of an elite fraud ring, and I’ve been chosen to recruit you. We don’t really have a name, but the police call us the serpents. Rings any bells?” You explained, and Jaemin bit his lip in thought, trying to organize every piece of information. Given the boner restrained in his jeans, it was a tricky thing to do, but Jaemin tried his best to focus.
“I’m flattered but not interested,” Jaemin spoke, letting out all of the air he didn’t realize he was holding in. “I appreciate the effort, but I am retiring. Do me a favor and see yourself out.”
In all honesty, you didn’t expect Jaemin to react the way he did. You didn’t anticipate him to gladly accept your invitation per se, but his current apathy took you by surprise. Although Jaemin seemed somewhat tired of the chase, he wasn’t the type of a person to give up.
“It’s not a proposition you can turn down like that,” you started, trying to reason with him.
“I just did,” Jaemin answered stubbornly, cocking up his right eyebrow, curious about your next move. “How did you even get in?” He folded his arms, awaiting your villain origin story.
If one had to compare your nefarious achievements with Jaemin’s – you’re the big fish. Your villainous resume was filled with plenty of spectacular heists, one of which even brought you international fame. The diamond heist, which you flawlessly orchestrated and helped to conduct, was widely known among law enforcement as well as the public.
“New Year’s Eve Snow Ball, Macao. Two years ago,” you revealed, and Jaemin looked at you in complete shock. No, it was not possible. There was no way you were the brain behind the coup de maître of heists. Jaemin couldn’t believe he was in the presence of crime royalty.
“You gotta be shitting me,” Jaemin chuckled, having trouble believing you. “There’s no way it was you. No. You wouldn’t be an errand girl, headhunting low profile conmen if that’s true,” he rambled, feeling a bit intimidated after knowing of your criminal past.
“I’m just passing the time until a good opportunity presents itself,” you stated with a smile, quick to explain your temporary hiatus. “Besides, it was quite fun. Tracking you down, I mean. You’re really good at what you do,” you genuinely admitted, hoping your compliment would stroke his ego. You’re obviously better, but his skills were nonetheless admirable.
“Thank you for your offer, but even if I wasn’t retiring, I would still have to reject it. With all due respect – I work alone,” Jaemin confessed, and you rolled your eyes, knowing it wouldn’t be a piece of cake to convince him. “Now, please leave. I’ve got stuff to do,” he added, looking down at his erection, desperate to tend to his primal needs.
“Couldn’t you think about it?” you cooed when you walked up to him, adjusting his collar. “It’s more a matter of membership rather than commission. Don’t worry; you get to keep all of your autonomy. You will also have clearance for all resources,” you carried on, the mixture of his cologne and sweat distracting you. “There are also other benefits included, like, for example, unlimited access to undetectable private islands, a wide net of connections, free healthcare, and many more.”
“Sounds too good to be true,” Jaemin concluded as he grabbed your wrists, pulling them away. “Where’s the catch?” He challenged, trying to intimidate you by staring into your eyes. Unfortunately, you felt more aroused than daunted.
“There’s none,” you grinned, whipping your phone out of your purse to mail him the first draft of the membership contract. You had signed almost an identical one shortly after your infamous Snow Ball heist, and being a part of this elite association was a pleasure. “Please read it in your free time,” you added, putting your phone away.
Jaemin didn’t want to entertain the thought of actually giving it a look. It took him a while to come to a conclusion to terminate his criminal lifestyle and settle down somewhere far away from trouble. At first, it was fun, and it provided him with adrenaline highs, but it was his time to quit. Jaemin had more than enough money to live a comfortable life, so why would he risk it for thrills?
“Ugh, I’ll think about it,” Jaemin whispered, turning his face to the side as he caved.  Although he was adamant about quitting, the idea of an off-grid private island tickled his fancy.
“I’d really appreciate it,” you added, reaching over to the buckle of his belt, pulling him closer. “Wouldn’t it be exciting to work with me from time to time? Or just sunbathing on the beach where no one could find you?” You sighed, your eyes closed as your imagination conjured these sensational prospects.
“What are you doing?” Jaemin asked, looking down at your hands which were unclasping his belt.
“Why are you acting so coy now?” You challenged with a raised eyebrow as you pulled the belt out of Jaemin’s jeans’ hoops, tossing it onto the floor in one fluid motion. “We can’t let work-talk ruin our night. I had high hopes. Or do you feel emasculated now that you know who I am?”
“What? No,” Jaemin said, quick to deny your groundless accusations. You were a famous individual among frauds, but it didn’t bother him that much. You were like a celebrity, yet his ego remained intact. “Quite the opposite, actually,” he smirked, staring at you fondly.
Despite your impure intentions of approaching him, you were obviously into him. Jaemin was a lot of things, but he definitely wasn’t oblivious. He wouldn’t be petty enough to turn you down when you were so eager to get into his pants. If anything, he was pleased with your needy attitude.
“Seeing you so desperate to fuck me turns me on,” he confessed, inching forward, letting his lips hover above yours. Jaemin’s feather-like touch caressed your face while his hips kept rolling against your abdomen, making you purr in elation. “Will you be a good girl for me?” Jaemin whispered as his hand slipped under your sundress to fiddle with the hem of your panties.
“Please,” you breathed out, brushing your nose against his before you kissed him, nipping on his bottom lip. “I need you,” you whispered in-between hungry kisses, trying to release his restrained erection out of his jeans. “Jaemin, take me.”
Your desperate pleas were music to his ears. Maybe if he wasn’t sexually frustrated, he’d tease you. However, right now, he needed you as much as you needed him. Hastily, Jaemin pushed your thighs apart with his knee and pulled down your panties, tossing them next to his forsaken belt.
“You’ve never answered my question, princess,” Jaemin murmured before his lips peppered little kisses down your exposed neck and collarbones. His knuckles dug into your sides as he rubbed your front against him.
“Yes, please. I’ll be good,” you breathed out, your eyes shut as you focused on Jaemin’s mouth against your skin. “Jaemin,” you moaned, grabbing his hand and guiding it to your entrance. You appreciated his tender ministrations, but now, you just needed him to fuck you with his fingers.
Grinning against your skin, Jaemin ran his fingers against your wet folds, fiddling with your clit. As soon as you felt his touch, you let a puff. Calmly, he spread your essence all over your pussy before he returned to pinching and rubbing your sensitive core.
While Jaemin worked you up, you decided to return the favor and cup his erection through his jeans. Perhaps, it wasn’t something a good girl would do, but you were sure Jaemin would let it slide.
Acting on his urges, he rubbed his manhood against your hand, so you considered it a perfect moment to take it a step further. Carefully, you undid his jeans and slid your hand underneath the hem of his boxers to give his twitching cock a few cautious strokes.
“You can fuck me now. I can take it,” you urged him, rubbing precum against the length of his cock.
“Let me be the judge of that,” Jaemin whispered in a low register as he pushed two fingers inside of you, feeling your walls stretch around them slowly. “Are you sure? I beg to differ,” he remarked, pumping his fingers in and out with a mischievous smirk.
The squelching sounds of your core mixed well with your shallow breaths, turning you on even more. You were hissing Jaemin’s name right into his ear as he prepped you. In no time, he learned where to stroke to get desperate moans out of you, unscrupulously making a mess of you.
“I can’t,” you whined, unable to go any longer without his cock inside of you. Jaemin’s fingers drove you insane, but you wanted to squirm around his throbbing cock. “Fuck me.”
“You gotta work on your good girl act,” Jaemin remarked as he withdrew his hand only to abruptly yank his jeans and boxers down to his knees. His erection sprung out of the fabric, proudly pulsating with excitement. “Do you have a condom on you?” Jaemin asked, tsking at you when you shook your head.
“I’ll make sure to be prepared the next time,” you eagerly replied as if you tried to make up for your not-so-good behavior.
“Wait here,” Jaemin ordered, and you leaned against the wall obediently, watching him head towards the bedroom. Not even a minute later, he came back, flashing you a small packaging between his fingers.
These pilot privileges were starting to annoy you. There wasn’t a single mini bar of chocolate on your bed, but Jaemin’s room came packed with condoms! At this point, you wouldn’t be surprised to find a whole welcome basket in his bedroom.
Staring into your eyes hungrily, Jaemin ripped the packaging with his teeth, rolling it down his erection. There was nothing special about it, but it got you rubbing your thighs in anticipation.
“Come on,” he urged you, grabbing you by your ass to help you jump and wrap your legs around his hips. “Hold on tight, princess,” he added, pressing you tightly against the wall as he grabbed his cock and aligned it with your entrance.
Your sundress was flowing around your middle, obstructing your view. You didn’t really mind it, though. Jaemin’s pounds were sturdy and fast, and you squeezed your eyes shut, pure delight taking over you.
“Fuck,” you cursed, buckling your hips against him, deepening his thrusts. “Like that,” you chanted, feeling your orgasm within your reach. “Jaemin!” You shrieked, arching your back, paying no attention to your volume. With Jaemin’s cock stuffed deep inside of you, decency was the last thing on your mind.
With his hands on your ass, squeezing it, and his mouth on your cleavage sucking yet another hickey, you were losing it. Chasing your release, you rolled your hips, brushing your clit against his pelvic bone, making Jaemin grunt.
“I won’t last much longer,” you panted, running your hands through Jaemin’s silky hair, pulling him closer against your skin. “Oh, fuck,” you moaned, throwing your head to the back, shoving your breasts right into his face.
“Just come then,” Jaemin urged, pounding at the last bits of energy. Beads of sweat dripped down his forehead, but he never quivered, determined to get you off first. “Be a good girl and come around my cock,” he carried on, whispering dirty words into your ear, nipping on your earlobe.
His pace was much slower, but he made it up with deep and hurt thrusts. Earlier, you were able actively respond by rolling your hips or pulling him closer, but right now, you could only accept his ministrations, floating in pleasure. You were feeling so good, but when Jaemin slightly changed the angle and stoked your g-spot, you lost your grip on reality.
“Fuck,” you shouted as you reached your high, squeezing around Jaemin’s erection so hard that he came inside the condom just a few seconds later. With his forehead pressed against your, Jaemin kept thrusting through your orgasm until you rode it out.
“You were incredible,” you confessed with a goofy smile upon your face before you pressed the gentlest peck against his swollen lips. You didn’t quite come down from your cloud nine yet. Despite the dirty deed you and Jaemin indulged in, you felt giddy.
“Your pussy is too good,” Jaemin confessed, stealing a quick kiss from you too. “Can you stand still?” Jaemin asked, and when you nodded, he slid out of you and carefully helped you off his hips. Smiling like an idiot, you watched Jaemin discard the condom and pull up his jeans.
“What are you doing?” You asked in confusion, smirking at him. “We’re nowhere close to being done,” you added, taking his hand in yours and leading him to the bed.
You still could walk just fine, and you wanted Jaemin to change that.
***
You stirred awake past nine o’clock. The sheets were soft, and your body was still tingling nicely after all the nasty things Jaemin had done with you. If only you could, you’d stay in bed until evening and enjoy its warmth and comfort.
Having stretched your arms, you discovered you were alone.
Jaemin was gone.
Were you surprised?
Not really.
Were you disappointed?
Kind of.
You were hoping for one more round before you’d have to get ready for another flight.
Having rubbed your eyes, you looked around the hotel room. You couldn’t hear running water in the en-suite bathroom. Jaemin’s suitcase was nowhere to be found, either. There was your sundress on the floor next to your strapless bra. Grumbling, you stood up and got dressed.
Unfortunately, your panties seemed to have gone missing, and you had a sneaking suspicion Jaemin was behind their disappearance.
“The audacity of this guy,” you bitched under your breath as you noticed a pilot’s cap sitting on top of the coffee table on the other side of the room. Swiftly, you marched over there, realizing there was a tiny paper plane inside it.
‘Read me’, said the writing on the paper’s plane’s wing.
Groaning, you unwrapped the piece of paper and straightened it with your hands to read the note Jaemin had left for you, possibly justifying his premature departure.
‘Catch me if you can’.
‘P.S. I hope you do that soon.’
Having read the message, you smirked and crumbled the paper in your fist.
Of course, Jaemin would pull shit like this.
However, you found him once; without a shred of doubt, you can do that again.

21 March 2022
Hamin's coming to South Korea? It's not that you didn't want to see your brothers, but at the same time you didn't think it was necessary for them to inconvenience themselves like this. It's not like it was that big a deal anyway, if anything, this visit would stress you out more than anything else. However you couldn't deny that it had been some time since all three of you were together, and part of you did want to spend time with them, but the other part of you knew that this couldn't have been more inconvenient for you.
You closed your messages app and walked back out to the main room. Haechan was passed out on the couch next to Taeyong, Hendery had been sent off to bed before he could hurt himself, Jaemin dragged Jeno back into the Dream dorms, Mark and Yangyang ran off before you could delegate cleaning duties to them, and that left you and Jihyun to pick up after them.
"Typical," you mumbled while collecting as many glass bottles as you could and tossed them into the recycling bin. "Those two are so going to hear it from me when I head over there," you muttered while wiping down the counters.
"Aw, I know you, honey, you're just mad that you didn't scram before they did," Jihyun laughs. She looks over at the couch. "Taeyong's going to freak out when he realizes he laid down on that thing."
"Oh I know," you snickered. "We need to replace that thing," you grimaced.
"(Y/N)!" Yangyang's hurried whisper somehow reached you from across the room.
"Well, well, well, look who decided to come help," you glared at him.
"No. Come to my room," he gestures for you to follow him.
"Go ahead, I've got it here," Jihyun nudges her head toward the door and you nodded.
Walking into the WayV dorm was almost jarring to see. Boxes and luggage had been strewn across as far as you can see and still, somehow, it felt so empty. You turned to Yangyang's room and pulled it open.
"What's all this?" You looked around, the room had been largely cleaned out to its bare bones now. It was almost saddening, actually, you'd had many memories in here and now it was just... empty. But, in the middle of the room, was a small table set up with a small cake and bottles of soju.
"We're having Yang's going away party!" Mark grins.
"Yup! Like hell I'd be leaving without having one last celebration with you guys," Yangyang hands you a bottle and your shoulders sank.
"Aw, geez, how is it that I'm the one being surprised here?" You sat down and Mark passed out the shot glasses.
"We kinda decided to do this last minute," Mark shrugs. "It's multipurpose too, Yangyang's going away, Kyungjae going to jail, your relationship's back, and things are just starting to look up in general, so… why not?” He pours soju into the shot glasses and picks his up. “So… uh… to us?”
“To us!” You and Yangyang repeated. The glasses clinked together and you took the shot.
"You know what, we should plan like... a day," you hummed. Tired and confused glances were what you received. "Let me finish, we should plan a day where we all call each other, you know? Like, we're all going to get really busy, so might as well reserve a day already," you shrugged.
"Yeah, let's do it," Mark opens up his calendar and visibly gulps. "Uh... I'm not too packed on Thursdays..."
"Every Thursday then?" You ask.
"Every Thursday is a bit hard," Yangyang looks up from his phone. "How about every other Thursday?"
"Every other works," Mark shrugs.
"Yeah," you agreed right as the door opened and Suho walks in. "Hey! The gang's all here!"
"I'm only here because Yangyang left this in the van," he places the duffle bag on the floor. "What are ou three up to?" He asks.
"Oh, just a mini celebration since Yangyang's getting exiled," you grinned.
"NCThree is never going to have another comeback." Yangyang cries into his hand.
"Huh? Exiled? Never having a comeback? What are you two talking about?" Suho's head tilts. "Yangyang's coming back."
"Yeah! For the year-end promotions!" Now you felt like crying. "My best friend is going to be an ocean away for a year," you took the soju bottle and just drank straight from it.
"No, (Y/N), uh..." Suho stutters while Mark comforts you.
"You will be missed, Yangyang, but your position is up for grabs," Mark jokes. Yangyang's face grows dead serious.
"If someone wants to take my best friend spot they're going to have to kill me first," he says.
"NCThree!" Suho speaks up and all attention lands on him. "Yangyang is coming back next month! They all are!" Suho clarifies. You and Mark turned to Yangyang now, disappointed but not surprised.
"Oh," you stood up and dusted your pants off. "Wow, worried us for nothing, huh?" You playfully pushed Yangyang's head and he nearly falls off the chair.
"I'm only leaving for a month?!"
"You're only leaving for a month! You're just going there to film some content then you're coming right back! Who the hell told you you'd be staying in China?" Suho asks. Again, stares land on Yangyang.
"In my defense, I've never been the brightest in this group."
"Fucking hell, I'm going to bed," you stacked the cups and grouped the bottles together.
"Dang... so (Y/N) and I were getting all sad for no reason? That's cold, Yangyang," Mark shakes his head.
"Hey, I actually thought-"
"You're lucky though, Yangyang, you're going to miss my brothers," you yawned on your way out of the room. Yangyang blinks slowly before tumbling out into the hallway.
"You have brothers?!"

22 March 2022
"Ugh... it's too early for this," Yunho mutters, his eyes tired and his voice dragging.
"Then maybe you shouldn't have stayed up watching video games," their manager taunts. Collective groans filled the air, but one of the members was particularly in a good mood. Seonghwa couldn't keep still, he was practically rocking back and forth in his spot. There had been this looming presence over you and him since the whole fiasco months ago and now, finally, a chance for closure and a chance for new beginnings.
Plus, he was always excited to see you.
"Alright, I'm glad I have you all here!" Their CEO, as bright as ever, marches into the room. He stands before the group, who are all seated around the meeting table. "Now, I've gathered you all here today for a very important announcement. Following recent events, I've become very concerned with your security. From various people overstepping our boundaries, to people targeting those we love, I've decided to take action." Somehow, Seonghwa felt like he was being put on the spot here.
"You hired more security?" Hongjoong asks. Whatever exhaustion he had was easily hidden by his professionalism.
"Something like that," their CEO hums. "Please come in, sir, and introduce yourself to my boys," their CEO steps aside as another person enters the room.
And then Seonghwa felt his jaw drop.
Dressed in a suit and with a badge hanging around his neck, Seonghwa almost didn't recognize him. Actually, he didn't recognize him at all until he swept his hair out of the way and the scar across his cheek became apparent. He almost felt like he was overreacting, there should be no way that the stranger would recognize him, but, to Seonghwa's comfort, it seemed Hongjoong had been taken aback by the man's gruff appearance as much as he was.
"Hello, I'm Jung Kanghoon, I will be in charge of your personal security from now on," the man bows for a moment before straightening. "I hope we can get along well."
"There you have it then," their CEO beams. "Kanghoon here will be in charge of all eight of you, I've already provided your work phone numbers to him, and I'll be sending you his number sometime later today. If you have any questions or concerns, take it up with him," their CEO juts a thumb toward Kanghoon. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll just leave you all with him to get to know each other better, you'll be seeing him much more often from now on," their CEO gestures for their manager to follow him out. Kanghoon takes a seat at the head of the table. The room was silent for a few moments.
"I have a question," Wooyoung speaks up. Kanghoon looks at him. "Have you ever killed anyone?"
"Wooyoung!" Hongjoong gasps.
"You can't just ask people if they've ever killed someone!" Mingi shouts.
"What?! I'm curious! Just look at the guy!" Wooyoung gestures to Kanghoon with both hands. "Look at the scars on his hands, those are awesome!" He compliments him.
"... Do you really want to know the answer to that?" Kanghoon asks with a small smirk. Wooyoung matches his energy.
"Yeah, I do, actually."
"Not purposely, no," Kanghoon answers vaguely.
"I knew it," Wooyoung congratulates himself.
"How'd you get that scar?" Yeosang asks next. Kanghoon stares at him and Yeosang points to his cheek.
"How do you think?"
"Secret mission along the border, you tried to get out unscathed but you ran into someone you had tricked into being your brother in arms and, in his betrayed rage, he attacked," Yeosang answers.
"Interesting story, but no, I got it from my younger sister," Kanghoon answers. "She was playing with scissors."
"Oh..." Yeosang sinks into his chair.
"Aside from questions of my past, do any of you have any other more relevant questions?" Kanghoon's gaze lands on Seonghwa, who tries to avoid his look. "If not then, I'll give you my number. I'm officially starting next month," Kanghoon says.
"Here, give it to me, I'll send it to the others," Hongjoong approaches him first.
"Sure, whatever is easier," Kanghoon replied as Hongjoong handed him his phone. Kanghoon handed it back to him and stood up. "I look forward to working with you all." He leaves the room.
"Whoa, hyung, you're like, white as a sheet, are you okay?" Yunho waves his hand in front of Seonghwa's face.
"Uh... yeah, I'm fine," Seonghwa tugs at his collar. It's whatever, totally, it was just a coincidence if anything. Besides, he had a much more important event to look forward to tonight anyway, he'd deal with this when it came back later.
~
It was clear that you had a pep in your step all day today, and every member of NCT knew it. Especially when the ones who were hungover were the first ones to notice your behavior.
This morning, for example, you said good morning to Doyoung. Everyone knows that the two of you just don't click and still you acknowledged his presence? Who even are you? And even when Doyoung responded similarly, that didn't stop Johnny and Jungwoo from making immediate eye contact with each other.
Then, then, just a few moments later, you actually helped Chenle open a jam jar, and when he tried to crack a joke about your strength you just smiled and said that it was something you'd always had with you. What? No matter how much Chenle tried to tease you, you easily deflected it back on him.
Now, and it was an honest mistake, Jeno got a little carried away laughing and accidentally launched your phone across the room. The already shattered screen had shattered some more, it was a miracle that it still worked at this point. But, did you get mad? No.
"Don't worry, Jen, things happen," you grinned. You glanced at the clock. 5:00 pm. You picked your phone up from the ground and disappeared into the ANiMA dorms.
"Isn't she supposed to be sad right now?" Jeno asks.
"Nah, she found out Yangyang's only going to be gone a month," Hendery replies.
"Oh, shit, okay, but like... I'm glad she's happy and all after everything but like..."
"Yeah, I get it," Hendery shrugs. "You know, Jiaying said earlier that she was singing in the shower, she never does that."
"Really?" Jungwoo sits up. "You know what? I saw Jaemin accidentally spill coffee on her and she told him not to worry about it too," he says.
"It is kind of suspicious," Haechan says from behind the counter. "Last time I saw (Y/N) this happy was before she went on her first date with Seonghwa," he says with a knowing tone. Everyone turns to him and he continues to put the dishes away behind him. "I don't know, just a thought," he says. Before any more conversation to continue, you walked back out into the main room and across. You knocked on the WayV side of the dorms and Kun opened it.
"(Y/N), we've been over this, you can just enter, you don't need to knock," he says.
"Can you ask Ten to give me my steamer back?"
"Yeah, hold on," Kun looks over his shoulder, "Ten, give (Y/N) her steamer back." You hear a muffled response. "He says he still needs it."
"Tell him I need it now."
"She needs it now," he shouts over his shoulder. Another muffled response. "He's asking why."
"I have a date tonight."
"She has a- you have a date tonight?!" Kun does a quick double-take back to you and you nod. You hear doors opening in succession mixed with shuffles and things breaking behind you.
"You're going on a date?! With who?!" Jungwoo shouts while he practically hops on his feet. "When? Where? Do you need help? Please speak clearly into my left shoulder." You scrunched your eyebrows and blinked slowly.
"Yes, Seonghwa, tonight, I'm not sure yet, and no."
"You and Seonghwa were still talking?! I thought his psycho stalker like... ruined you two," Jeno chimes.
"That's what I'm saying! And his psycho friend almost ruined them again!" Yangyang follows Mark out.
"What were you two doing without me?" You eyed them suspiciously.
"Guy stuff," they answered vaguely.
"Huh, okay, well, yes, I'm going on a date tonight, and we're just going to talk about things, okay?" You explained just as Ten emerged with your steamer. "It's not a big deal, okay?" You took the steamer.
"Kun, tell the managers we will not be leaving tonight," Ten says with a straight expression. "I need to be here and present to see the outcome of this."
"I'm sure the grapevine will find a way to get to us," Kun tiredly looks back at all the luggages behind him. The WayV dorm had turned into a lawless land. "Dear god... this will be the longest six hours of my life," he mutters.
"Are you sure you'll be safe?" Johnny walks out now with a towel still wrapped around his head.
"Yes? Why wouldn't I be?"
"Like we need to answer that," Jaemin, rising from his nap on the couch, adds. "But, do whatever you want to do," he waves his hand.
"Thank you, Jaemin, at least one person knows how to mind his own business," you shut the door behind you, leaving the muffled discussion behind you. You looked down at your phone, which was still open to the chat from your brothers. You sighed and slumped your shoulders, talk about a pain, you had enough to worry about already and now you had to worry about your brothers too.
"Oop, sorry, kiddo," Saeron nearly bumps into you but as soon as she sees your expression, she places the two suitcases in her hands down. "Is everything alright, (Y/N)?"
"Uh..." you glanced at your phone again, "well, to be honest, I'm a little stressed out," you said quietly. Saeron's expression softens and she leads you to the counter.
"Well, let's talk a little about it then, (Y/N), what's going on? Can unnie help in any way?" She asks. You flipped your phone face down on the counter.
"Just... well, everything. The whole Kyungjae situation finally processed in my head, then everything with Hwa is kind of unstable, my best friend is going back to China for who knows how long, my brothers are really worried about me, and... just, too much." Now that you had listed everything out, you felt a heavy weight being pushed down on you. With all these priorities and responsibilities on your plate you just didn't know what to do next.
"Hmm, well," Saeron takes a moment to gather her thoughts, "everything with Kyungjae has been handled, for the most part. At least he won't be near you anymore, that's what matters. And as for you and Seonghwa, well, I can't speak for his end, but you very clearly want to make that work, so have faith in that," she starts, she looks over toward the door for a moment, "to be honest, (Y/N), I don't think I can say much on you and Yangyang, but I don't think the distance will change anything especially if you value your friendship, so have faith in that as well. Your brothers, on the other hand, I'm sorry that I can't say much on that either, you know them better than I do, but I'm sure they do it from a place of love, just as I'm talking with you now," she says. She pats the suitcases lightly. "You know, when I get upset, I like to do my favorite hobby, and in this case it's organizing! Why don't you do something too?" She asks.
"I think I will, unnie! But, can I ask what exactly you're organizing?"
"The WayV dorm!" She smiles. "Those boys need a woman's touch, you know," she giggles. Jihyun, however, watches with wide eyes.
"Those poor boys," she mutters.
"What was that, dear?" Searon doesn't even turn her head.
"Nothing, my love," Jihyun turns a page in her book. "But... (Y/N), why don't you come with me to my room? I think I know exactly how you can relax before your date," Jihyun gestured for you to follow her and you did just that.
As soon as you walked in, Yeseul's eyes shone.
"Jie! You're a genius!" Yeseul's hands clasp over yours. "(Y/N), you're a lifesaver!"
"Hmm?" You look around and spot the music program open on Jihyun's desktop.
"(Y/N), please, please, please collaborate with me!" Yeseul begs. Before you could answer, Jihyun presses play and the backtrack fills the room.
"Oh?" You sit down on the bed and listen to the beat. "Oh."
"Yes! Jihyun and I have been wrapping our heads around what the song was missing and now I've got it! I should sing it with someone else!"
"Oh, unnie, you know I'm not the strongest-"
"Don't be ridiculous, you're plenty strong! In all aspects! Please say yes," she plead. Well, you couldn't deny that you liked the track a lot, and you'd known for a while now that Jihyun and Yeseul were working on the next NCTLab, but you didn't think they'd want you to be involved this much. "Come on, (Y/N)! Saeron is even writing the lyrics! Let's make it a family project!" She continues.
"... I'm in," you nodded your head curtly, "but I have to get ready for my date so let's just read through it once!"
~
Seonghwa looked at his watch while he waited at the bottom floor of the dorms. The bouquet of roses in his hands slowly grew heavier as the minute hand ticked on. He took a deep breath, the jitters in his chest becoming more and more apparent. It's not like this was your first date, he didn't understand why he was this nervous. Then, he heard the doors slide open, and you bounded out.
And just like that his heart stopped.
"Wow," he mumbles.
"Sorry, I got so caught up with the girls," you fixed your earrings just as you stood in front of him, "did I make you wait long?"
"For you, I'd wait however long I need to," he replies. A small smile rose on your face. "And these are for you," he hands you the bouquet and you accepted it carefully.
"They're beautiful, thank you," you played with the red ribbon that tied them together. "Ten! Bring these upstairs for me, please!" You called. Ten emerged from his hiding spot.
"You're good," his eyes narrow.
"And tell the others that there's nothing to worry about," you handed him the roses. Ten glared at Seonghwa, gesturing that he, and likely every member of NCT, was watching him carefully.
"Call off the operatives," Ten mutters under his breath.
"What was that?" You asked him.
"Nothing, (Y/N), just have fun! But not too much fun," he glares at Seonghwa.
"I'll have her home by 11," Seonghwa just smiles. Ten disappears into the dorm, never once breaking eye contact.
"You'll have to excuse them," you chuckled.
"I don't blame them," Seonghwa digresses. He offers you his arm. "Shall we, then?" You looped your arm around his.
"We shall, take me away, love!"
The walk, surprisingly, wasn't as far as you thought it was. Sure, there was the occasional passerby who snapped a picture of the both of you, but for whatever reason you didn't seem to care. Even at the restaurant, when you felt every set of eyes land on you, you didn't care. No, instead you found comfort in yours and his hands which had so naturally found themselves together. You just looked forward to the wonderful night you had in store. Sure, you had to get the grueling details out of the way first, but what's a relationship without its hurdles?
"Table for two, correct?" The hostess asks. Seonghwa nods. "Let's see, Park Seonghwa... Park Seonghwa... Ah, here you are, reserved balcony seating, with Dinner Plan A please follow me," she sets off and the two of you are quick to follow.
The balcony was romantic, to say the least. It was a private area with the table in the middle, atop it was a charming candelabra and the dining set atop it was eye-catching. Even the decor that surrounded you seemed to set the mood so perfectly.
"You really planned it out, huh?" Seonghwa pulled the chair out for you and pushed it back in once you were settled. He swung his suit jacket over the back of the chair before taking his own seat.
"Too much?" He asks.
"Never," you replied. The waiter placed your appetizers in the middle of the table before pouring champagne into both of your glasses. Once he was gone, you folded your arms over the table. "So... Kyungjae."
"Right, the elephant in the room," Seonghwa leans on his chair. "It's true, we went to grade school together, but that was the extent of it. Even now, when I ran into him again, I didn't consider us friends at all. The fact that he did those horrible things to you, though, I will admit is my fault."
"Your fault? Hwa, you couldn't have known he was strange like that," you tipped the champagne glass to give it a taste. "But you going to his apartment, that was dangerous. You know as well as I do that as idols we can't do reckless things like that."
"I know, there's no excuse for our recklessness-"
"Our?!"
"... we may or may not have all been in on it."
"Oh god, Hwa, imagine the..." your voice trailed off and you took a calming bite of the tart in front of you. "Thank you. Even though it was reckless, who knows what Kyungjae would have done to me," you were genuine when you said it. "Not many people would've done that for me."
"Probably Yangyang."
"Probably Yangyang," you laughed, "but then we'd probably never see him again," you reasoned. The waiter returned and took the now empty plates and replaced them with the main entreé. As soon as he was out of earshot, you continued. "I still can't believe San didn't blab it all to me somehow," you hummed.
"Me too, and to be honest, there was another factor too," Seonghwa's eyes glanced up in thought. "Okay, first, let me say that it won't sound believable at all, but I promise it's true," he says cautiously. You lean in with your curiosity piqued. "There was someone who texted all of us and said we'd have insurance, and I think he was there at the apartment that day too," he said quietly. You blinked once.
"There are two things wrong with what you just told me, baby."
"I know," Seonghwa nods curtly. "We're going to deal with the whole phone thing tomorrow, but there was this oddly timed event when Kyungjae received a package right before I got caught, it couldn't have been a coincidence," Seonghwa continues.
"Huh, that is interesting," you mumbled. "Talk about luck."
"I know," Seonghwa whistles.
"Hey, um... since the mood is like this we'd might as well get it out of the way," you spoke up again, "was there anything else we should get out of the way?"
"Well," Seonghwa moved his food around with his fork. "Yes, actually. I think I owe you the full truth."
"You do."
"That day-"
"Excuse me!" You turned your head toward the man that had approached your table. "I'm sorry, I'm such a huge fan I had to ask for your autograph, but all I have is your photocard here," he opens his phone case.
"Oh, sure, do you have a," he cut you off by handing you a sharpie. "Sorry," you apologized to Seonghwa and scribbled your signature over your face and handed the card back to him.
"Thank you so much! Fighting! I can't wait to see your next project!" The fan bows his head and runs off.
"Anyway," you turned back to Seonghwa just in time to notice him writing his signature in a woman's notebook. He handed it back to her with a smile and she ran off. "So-"
"Would the two of you like to take a look at our wine menu?" The waiter seemingly appears next to your table and you cut into your meal a little too hard, the knife clanging against the plate harshly. You released the breath you'd been holding.
"No thank you, but could you make sure no one else walks out here?" Seonghwa answers for you.
"Of course, sir," the waiter dismisses himself and leaves the two of you alone.
"Sometimes I forget we're popular," you drank more of your champagne. "Anyway, please continue. What do you mean by full truth?"
"I think I should tell you what exactly Juliet had on both of us. For you, it was what happened between you and Yangyang that night. For me-" the loud camera shutter startled both of you.
"Seriously? Have they no shame?" You pressed your lips together but kept your expression straight. You knew well enough that if you showed that you were annoyed you'd get an earful so, instead, you continued to eat.
"I'll wait until they're gone before I say, I don't want it getting misconstrued," Seonghwa cuts into his dinner while side-eyeing the paparazzi. He clears his throat. "Until then, though, how has your day been?"
"Hectic," your shoulders slumped. "First I found out my brothers are coming to visit, then I found out that Yangyang's not actually leaving for a whole ass year instead he'll be gone a month, and now I think I'm collaborating with Yeseul for an NCT Lab," you counted the events on your hand. Click, shutter, flash.
"Brothers? I thought you only had the one," Seonghwa asks.
"Oh, I have two, I'm the middle child. I'm a little excited though, I've been wanting to introduce you to them both!" You grinned. "But I said my bit, so how about you?"
"Hm, I had rehearsal earlier and... wait, actually, did you know San and Saeron were related?"
"Huh? Yeah, of course I did, you guys didn't?" Click, shutter, flash.
"He never mentioned it!"
"In his defense, they're not actually related, they're pretty distant if anything. They really only saw each other at, like, holiday parties and birthdays," you laughed and all Seonghwa could do was smile. And, you had to admit, you missed the warm feeling you always had when you saw it. The way it spread across your chest and to your face, it was such a comforting feeling. "What are you looking at?" Your hands rose to your face and you made sure there weren't any crumbs on it or anything. Click, shutter, flash.
"Just you, who else?" He chuckles. "You're radiant tonight," he says. Talk about a finishing move. No matter where you looked, nothing could hide the bashful expression you had. Click, shutter, flash.
"I missed this." Ah, who were you kidding? "I missed you."
"I missed you too," Seonghwa replied quietly, enough for you to hear and you alone. Click, shutter, flash.
"They're tenacious," you rolled your eyes with a smile.
"I wonder what the pictures will look like."
"Oh god, I hope they're getting my good side," your expression settles on your idol smile. Click, shutter, flash.
"Mine too," Seonghwa straightens his posture. Click, shutter, flash. "It's a shame though," he opens the camera app on his phone, "your good side is the one facing me," he snaps a quick candid picture of you and flips it so you could see.
"Wow, you always manage to get the best pictures of me!" You immediately thought of the album you had of the both of you. You were more of a candid picture and video kind of person, a lot of what you had on the two of you were pictures taken in the moment or some taken without him knowing.
"I mean..." Seonghwa slid his phone to you and you scrolled through the album. Click, shutter, flash.
"Oh god, if any of these got out I could kiss my image goodbye," you covered your mouth to hide your laugh. You stopped on one of the images. It was taken right at the perfect moment, you think. It was your last evening in Rome and the two of you had decided to spend it in the hotel room. Seated on the balcony with the sunset in front of you, the picture really only showed your silhouette and... "a ring?" You looked at him with wide eyes now. "I don't think..." you looked around, cameras were still pointed at you. Seonghwa glanced too and slid you a velvet box, and he did so behind the wine bottle such that the paparazzi couldn't intrude. Your hand rested on top of it now, your fingertips just barely brushing over his.
"I... uh..." Seonghwa swallows harshly. "I'm not asking you to marry me, not yet, there's still so much I want for us to do together before we can take that step together. But, after everything that's happened and after everything we've been through, I really thought about it." You opened the box. It was a silver ring with a ruby in the center. "(Y/N), I've had this ring since our first anniversary, I just didn't know how to give it to you, and I didn't know what to say. But I do now."
"Seonghwa, I..." you couldn't form words, or at least, you couldn't put them in order.
"I can't promise that we won't go through tough times and I can't promise that it will get any easier, but I can promise that I will stay with you throughout it all, no matter what, I promise that I will always choose you," he confesses. "If you'll have me, that is, you don't need to give me a response now, I know there are cameras on us and-" you stood up almost abruptly. "Wait, wait, what's wrong? I'm sorry, I know I should have timed it better!" He stood up too, ready to follow you out if anything, but his words fell on deaf ears, you just needed something to hold, anything.
"Ugh, this will do," you grabbed one of the empty plates and held it up to cover your face. "Hold this, please. I'm going to kiss you right now."
"What? I... okay," his glance slid to the plate and he grabbed the other end right as you let go of it to hold his face instead.
The kiss was like magic. The flashes of cameras were hidden behind that plate, and it truly felt like it was just you and him in that moment. Then, you heard him place the plate down, but neither of you pulled away, neither of you wanted to. His hand wrapped around yours and he pulled it down in front of his and your chests.
"Jung (Y/N), I love you," he slid the ring onto your finger.
"Park Seonghwa, I love you too, and I promise to stay by your side too," you swore this on everything you were just as he did.
What happened next was like an omen. The romantic moment was perturbed by both of your phones going off at the same time. Both of your gazes fell on your respective devices before settling on each other.
"Oh... that can't be good," you swallowed harshly, especially when you both turned your phones over and saw that your respective managers were calling you. It was now when you both became hyperaware of the whispers around you. You both sat back down to answer your blaring phones.
"(Y/N). Come back as soon as you can. There is an urgent meeting with the PR team right away."
"Right away? What's wrong? What happened?" You and Seonghwa looked at each other again across the table and you felt your heart drop. The expression on his face was one you'd never seen on him before. It was complete and utter distraught. You pulled your phone away to see the second call that was coming in. "I'll be in as soon as I can, I'm sorry, Suho, Yangyang's calling me."
"As long as you're in tonight," was the last thing Suho said before you switched to Yangyang.
"(Y/N), I know you do whatever the hell you want, but if you listen to me once then don't do anything, don't look at anything, hell, don't even say anything."
"What's going on?"
"Look, (Y/N), we're giving Seonghwa the benefit of the doubt, but holy fucking shit what he said was horrible. Look... just trust me, okay? I don't want you to be alone."
"Oh... okay," you looked at Seonghwa again and he just shook his head. Yangyang hung up the phone and you saw the flurry of texts on your phone. all of them checking in on you and all of them worried about you. You opened one of the messages from an unknown number, all it had was a link to a Twitter thread, and the link matched many others on your phone. One link that stood out was from your manager, it was attached to a short message that said 'I was instructed not to show you this until the meeting but... it's better you prepared yourself.' You opened the link and it opened to a series of videos from a user by the @/julesCT. The thumbnail was grainy, but it was clear that it was taken in one of the Music Bank waiting rooms. You played the video.
“Look, I don’t know about this.” It was clearly Seonghwa's voice. “Dating? Now? ATEEZ is going so well and ANiMA? Sheesh, I don’t even know where to start with that group…” You felt a pang in your chest from the tone in his voice. The two people in the video, although hard to make out, their hair colors stood out easily. If it really was Seonghwa talking, you could assume the video was from two years ago now based on their hair.
“I mean, do you want to date her?” Hongjoong, you knew his voice as well as Seonghwa's.
“I just don’t want any unnecessary drama. Can you imagine the scandal from this? Either way I look at it, it’s going to be worse. She’s a nice girl but the scandals following her? Even if most of them aren’t even her fault, it’s hard to not associate those with her.” There were parts of the audio that were garbled, but some of the messages were clear.
“I understand, why don’t you ask her yourself?”
“I heard that she's a really pretentious person. Maybe conceited? What if the rumors are true that she just plays around with different guys? I don’t want to be part of that.” You couldn't control your expression, and such must have been clear to your date in front of you.
"(Y/N), let me explain," Seonghwa says, you held your hand up.
“I just don’t want to be another name in her so-called "playbook,” you know? I hear people talk about it all the time." Seonghwa's voice concludes. You heard more muffled audio, probably a response from Hongjoong, but you couldn't tell. You were too hung up on that word, playbook. What the hell? Aside from Seonghwa you'd only dated one other person. Sure, you were talking to a couple of people before debut too, but never anything concrete. What the hell kind of playbook was going around?
There was a second video under it. You played it, whether out of curiosity or out of spite you didn't know.
“Whoa! Hyung! Got the NCT girl?” San too?
“We’re just trying things out, the first date went… rough.” Seonghwa's voice. Sure, your first date wasn't stellar, but to talk about it with that tone? Was it that bad?
“Dang, you’re about to make other idols pretty mad,” San laughed. “You know, a bunch of other guys have their eyes on her. Rumor has it she was a total catch back in university, guys were flocking over to her daily. I hear she slept around a lot too.” You almost gasped. Was that really how they thought of you at first? You were certain that they didn't think of you that way now, but just what kind of rumors went around about you? What did you do for them to start anyway?
"(Y/N), please," Seonghwa, the real one now, tried to cut into your thoughts. His voice was quiet, but you could clearly hear him over the video and over the whispers. You didn't stop the video, however.
“Oh, come on, those are just rumors. You have the same ones.”
“Aren’t you curious though?” San seemingly asked with a teasing tone. You could barely make out the two figures in the video, but one of them seemed to shake their head. “You’re lying~” The video cut off. You turned your phone off and placed it face down on the table. You couldn't bring yourself to look up.
"(Y/N)," Seongwha's voice was quiet in front of you.
"They're... they're not real, are they?" You asked. The restaurant had fallen into a tense silence. Everyone was listening in on your conversation. Out of consideration, the waiters closed the door to the balcony, giving the two of you the privacy you should've already had.
"Not... not entirely," Seonghwa answers.
"But they're real?" You asked. You, of all people, knew how easy it was to modify evidence and to pick videos apart to make someone seem worse than they really were. You, of all people, knew how ruthless netizens could be. But even with context, you struggled to understand how it could mediate the situation. This whole time, you still couldn't bring yourself to raise your head. You saw Seonghwa's hands fold on top of each other, and you saw the way they trembled.
"Yes, they're actually conversations I've had," he confirms, you covered your mouth now, holding back a sob. The cold metal of the ring rested against your lip, and it just made the whole thing harder. "But... they're not the full conversations, there are parts of them edited out," he says. You figured as much, there were parts of the audio that had awkward cuts, and then there were the muffled responses despite the other ones having been heard clearly before. "I... I was going to tell you right before our managers called." You couldn't blame him for that, at every opportunity he had, it became too clear that someone unwanted was listening.
"I see," you replied. You looked up now and you felt your heart twist. The last time you saw him like this, looking like someone who had realized he fucked up, was just a few months ago. And now, again, your relationship, and your patience, are being tested. Tears pricked at the side of your eyes. "Edited or not, Seonghwa, the fact that you said those things about me is something I can't overlook. I know, I know you said these before we got to know each other better, but... I'm sorry, some of those things you and the others said... those are hard to forgive," your voice grew weaker with every word. Seonghwa said nothing throughout this. Instead, his head hung low. He couldn't deny the facts, he couldn't deny that it really was him in both of those videos. You started to play with the ring on your finger now, and Seonghwa's breath hitched.
"I am so sorry, (Y/N)," he apologizes. "You're right. I said those things before I knew you, and so did San, and so did Hongjoong. But none of us were in any place to make assumptions like that. If I could show you the unedited videos, I would, believe me. But I can't, so please, just take my word for it. I don't believe any of those things we said now, and I know better." You looked away from him.
"I know that," you nodded your head. "It's just... sorry, I know, I really do believe you, Hwa, but fuck how could anyone say anything like that? That's not fair," you shook your head slowly. You grabbed your things. "I... I'm going home, I have a meeting about this. Thank you for telling me, I'll relay it to the PR team and... we'll," you looked into the restaurant and saw all the prying eyes turn their heads quickly, "we'll talk about this later, okay? I'm not mad, I'm just... really disappointed that I had to find out this way," you explained. You looked into the restaurant again, the way to the exit suddenly seeming much longer than before. Again, you played with the ring on your finger. You turned back around to Seonghwa, who was still looking at you. His hand was on the back of his chair and he looked as if he was about to get up and follow you.
"(Y/N), I'm sorry, I really did try to tell you," he says.
"I know," you nodded curtly. "And you also promised... that we'd deal with our troubles together," you said. "And I'm planning on keeping my promises, I always do, so..." you took a deep breath. "Let's face this together then, this is just another hurdle we have to go through together," you held your hand out to him. Seonghwa took a steadying breath now, and he accepted your hand.
"Together, then," he says. He pulls his coat from the back of his chair and wraps it around your shoulders. You opened the balcony doors and, right as questions started flying and cameras started recording, you and Seonghwa pushed through the crowd silently, finding security only in your hands that held onto each other so tightly.
Prominence will return for its third and final season soon.

Okay but unrelated kpop thought of the day: I know it'll never happen, but I desperately need Hendery from WayV and DK from Seventeen to have a comedy show together. Like they both are natural comedians and neither are opposed to making fun of themselves.

Tumblr media
Ever since you and Haechan started dating, it’s been interesting to say the least. He takes you on random dates throughout the city and almost always pays for each, you try to reason with him that you do have your own money to chip in, but he tells you chivalry isn’t dead and pays before you can get another word in. You know it’s sweet and he’s trying to be romantic, but somehow it also leads to small arguments. For example, the argument you’re both in as you pace the living room of your apartment happens to be based off the date you decided to cut short due to his lack of view from your standpoint.
“I don’t understand why you’re so mad, I’m your boyfriend and I want to be able to do things for you.” Frustrated, Haechan watches as you walk around your living room, running his hands through his hair.
“That’s because you don’t let me do anything, you don’t let me pay, you don’t let me have much say into where we go or what we do and you treat me like a baby when in fact I’m older than you.” After listening to the reasons off on your hand, you stand with your hands on your hip. He rolls his eyes, moving his entire body in the motion. “By a couple months—why are we even bringing age up, this isn’t about who is what, this is about—I don’t even know what this is about anymore.” You let out a heavy sigh, rubbing your temples to relax the migraine that was pounding against your skull.
Haechan moves across the room, grabbing both of your hands and bringing them to his lips. The soft kisses he places along your knuckles brings you back in as you meet his eyes. “Look, I’m sorry for making you upset.” You can tell how genuine his words are by the look he’s giving you. “I won’t plan everything without your input anymore, I promise.” He continues kissing your hand, moving his kisses down to your wrist. The feeling of his soft lips on your skin let's open the cage to the butterflies that flutter inside your chest. “I forgive you hyuck.” He smiles against your skin, moving his lips from your wrist to your lips.
You wrap your arms around his neck, grazing your fingers through the ends of his hair. As he pulls back from the short and sweet kiss, he rests his forehead against yours, taking in the moment while it lasts. “Are you staying over tonight?” You frown, shaking your head which is returned with a mirrored frown. “I got a meeting in the morning with Jungwoo and you know that he’ll chew my ass if I’m late by a second.”
“Why can’t you stay over then, I’ll get up and make you breakfast and even lay your clothes out for you.” Haechan moves his head into the crook of your neck, checking every box of his tactics to convince you to stay. You relish in the feeling of his worth, letting out what felt like the millionth sigh of the night. “That sounds like fun hyuckie, but last time you tried to make breakfast, you nearly burnt down your apartment.” He laughs against your shoulder, making you laugh in return by the tickling feeling of him giggling against your skin. “So does that mean I can stay over instead?” You pull back, eyeing Haechan as he gives you the same goofy smile he always has on. “Go home before I take my key back.”
Haechan continues laughing, pulling his keys from his front pocket. As he holds them up, you see the purple key with home written across the metal. “As if I’d ever let you take this back, this is my key to your heart baby and unfortunately for you, you’re stuck with me.” Rolling your eyes, you turn him around and start to push him towards the door. “Yeah yeah, better be glad I still like your crazy ass.” Haechan opens your front door, turning around to face you as you wait for him to initiate the goodnight kiss. As cheesy as it sounds, it’s almost become a tradition for you two to kiss before the other returns back to their apartment. Even though you’re right across from each other, to you it seals in everything that the day has brought and leads to a better night.
Haechan leans down, kissing you so gently that you can barely feel that he’s there and those are your favorite type of kisses with him. All of them are probably your favorite, but this one in particular tops the cake. As he pulls away, you almost don’t wanna see him go, but you need all the rest you can get before work in the morning. “Goodnight y/n.” Haechan’s voice sounds so bittersweet, walking backward to his door as you give him a small wave. “Goodnight hyuck.” He smiles at the nickname, turning to open his door and disappearing behind it once it’s shut.
Closing your door, you make your way down the hall and climb into bed to settle for the night. Just as you start to get comfortable, you hear your phone go off with notifications. Deciding not to ruin your comfort, you neglect your unread notifications and opt for sleep. By the morning, you still don’t have the energy to check your phone and instead skip breakfast and head straight to the office to get the day over with. The moment you step into the building, you’re greeted with Jaehyun who was standing by the front desk chatting it up with Winter. You notice two coffees in his hand and to much surprise, one of them is your usual order.
When Jaehyun notices you, he makes his way over and hands you your cup. “You’re in a surprisingly good mood today.” You scowl at him as you take a sip of your drink. “Says the one who took the time to order me a drink, I’m not gonna pass out am I?” He gives you an uneasy smile before stepping into the elevator with you. The weird sense of deja vu comes over you, sending a chill down your spine. “You haven’t checked your phone by chance, have you?” Looking up from practically spacing out, you give Jaehyun a weird look. “No, why, did I miss something?” He looks at you almost surprised, shrugging as he gets off a few floors before your stop.
“Good luck y/n.” Just as you’re about to ask him what his mood was about, he practically rushes away from the elevator, leaving you confused. When you get off on your floor, you see Taeyong and Doyoung standing nearby. You wave at them when they look your way, getting a smile in return. Something in your stomach tells you that things are going wrong when they immediately turn their backs to you and start moving in the opposite direction. You try to push the feeling down, continuing down to your office. When Karina sees you, she pulls you aside almost immediately. “Girl what the hell have you been doing?” You look at Karina with the same confusion you’ve been giving everyone, wondering what the hell you missed in the last twelve hours.
You crouch down to her level, rubbing your arm where she had pulled you aside. “What am I doing, what the hell is going on, everyone is acting like I got the plague or something.” She scans your expression with her eyes, realizing that you haven’t figured out what you’re about to. She sighs, slumping forward before looking up at you. “Okay, I guess you didn’t get my texts last night which by the way were important so don’t freak out or anything, but Xiaojun is back.” At the mention of his name, you can practically feel the color from your face leave you. The mention of ex makes you feel sick and you have to hold onto Karina to keep you from falling on your ass.
A little backstory into Xiaojun and your relationship explains your reaction and why you visibly look ill. Before the two of you became a couple, Xiaojun was an exchange student who went to your high school in hopes to get into the journaling club and that’s where you two met. He was tall, had a pretty smile and even prettier voice. Naturally, you two got close and even started to hang out after school and outside of club hours. It sounds like a typical high school romance and from the surface, it was. Until it was time for him to go back home and you were both left heartbroken and frustrated on how to resolve the underlying feelings between the two of you.
Somehow, the world kept working in your favor and Xiaojun ended up moving back once he graduated from his school back in China. The two of you went to the same university and even both got into similar classes to spend the most time together. All things were going great up until your senior year when you both applied to the job you work now. Tension started to build as you both wanted to get a spot as an intern in hopes to kickstart your career as a journalist. You knew how bad Xiaojun wanted it, but you didn’t know if you were willing to give up your dreams for your boyfriend. Yes, you did plan and hope to marry him one day and even in the toughest times, you’d still find yourself wanting to grow old with him, but when you got the spot and he didn’t, everything started to fall apart.
Both you and Xiaojun would get into fights after you got back from working all day and unknown to you, he applied as well for an actual job to the company. When he ended up getting the job, you didn’t know how to feel, I mean yes you were happy, but he also went behind your back and didn’t tell you about it until he was accepted. After all was said and done, you stuck through it and eventually was offered a job as well and to you, this was a great idea. You’d be working with your boyfriend who you loved dearly and you’d both be doing the thing you love. All was found great for about three weeks until he was offered a job at the sister company over in China.
When he brought up the offer to you, of course you were heartbroken, but you weren’t going to let him leave his dream behind to stay here with you and this somehow added more fuel to the fire. He started accusing you of wanting to take his position and even went as far to say you fell out of love with him which was far from the truth. In the end, he took the position and left overnight after a heated argument that caused you both to split. It took you years to move on from the first love of your life and when you did, you met Haechan who has been the absolute best boyfriend you could ever ask for. Sometime in the beginning, you did find yourself comparing him to your ex, but Haechan could never compare to Xiaojun because he treated you so much better.
Karina’s hand on your shoulder brought you back in, the concerned look in her eyes making you feel even worse. Everyone knew the messy breakup that happened between you and Xiaojun and everyone was sympathetic for you when you started putting all your focus into working. “Uhm, how-I mean when like what—why is this even happening?” Your voice was shaky, taking deep breaths in to calm yourself. Maybe it was the nerves that shook at the mention of his name, causing a chain reaction of old memories and emotions to resurface or maybe it was the sheer pain in your chest that drops down to your stomach when thinking of seeing him in front of you again.
“He’s supposed to come in today, but I heard from Doyoung that he’ll be in by the end of the week, I just thought I’d tell you in advance to prep you.” Immediately, you pull her into a hug to which she returns and the two of you hold one another on the floor in the back space of the office. “Keep strong, remember you have Haechan and all will be well, he doesn’t have a hold over you anymore.” Her words soothe you and she feels you relax in her embrace. You close your eyes, mentally thanking every star in the night sky for bringing you an amazing friend like Karina.
“C’mon, let’s go to my office so I can tell you about Yangyang and the shit he did last night.” Both of you get up from the floor, sitting in her office while she works on some reports and spills every little detail from her date with your boyfriend’s best friend. You thought it’d be weird going on double dates with Yangyang and Karina, but seeing as they’re not actually dating (yet), it all just feels like one big hangout amongst friends. You confide in her about your small arguments with Haechan and she now isn’t too happy with the boy of mention. “Seems to me like he’s ready to take the next big step.” You give her a look, flipping through her paper files as she types away on the computer. “And that is?”
“Moving in together, duh.” You snicker, trying to find any hint of her comment being a joke. When looking up to find her staring at you, you realize she’s joking. “Oh, you’re serious?” She shakes her head, pulling the files from you and setting them on her desk. “So you mean to tell me you haven’t thought about moving in with him at all, not even once?” Shrugging, your face scrunches up at her disappointing sigh. “L/n Y/n, you seriously haven’t thought about moving in with your boyfriend of nearly a year?”
“Not necessarily, I mean I’ve thought about it a couple times, but the thought of it always gave me stomach pains.”
“Are you sure that wasn’t just his cooking?” Jaehyun’s voice was recognizable from literally anywhere, making you whip your head around to throw up a finger at him. He smiles, slapping your hand away as you turn back to Karina. “Girl, this man is putting all the signs in front of you and you can’t even see them, see this is why you’re fighting.” She folds her arms over her chest, leaning back into her chair. “We’re not fighting, we’re simply arguing over the littlest shit which actually makes no sense in the end and we end up making up.”
“I hate to break this little counseling session, but you’re about to be late for your meeting.” You gasp, looking down at your watch to see you have barely three minutes to make it across the building. Pushing Jaehyun aside, you sprint as fast as you can through the building and bust through the doors just in time. Out of breath with your hair sticking to the light sweat that broke out on your forehead, you’re leaned over trying to catch your breath as you prop your hands on your knees. “Glad you can make it miss y/n.” The sound of Jungwoo’s voice makes you swallow thick, wiping your forehead with your sleeve as you move to grab a seat.
You can practically feel everyone’s eyes on you as you sit down, embarrassed at your unprofessional entrance. You look around the room, noticing the seat next to Jungwoo was empty. You’re about to ask Doyoung, who was sitting beside you who it belonged to before the door opened and caught everyone’s attention. “Sorry for being late everyone, I was caught up in traffic.” The familiar voice sends an uneasy chill down your spine, making your throat go dry and refusing to look in his direction. “No problem Xiaojun, please take a seat and let the meeting begin.” Jungwoo welcomed him, motioning him to the empty spot that was right across from yours.
You could feel his eyes on you, making you feel sick on the stomach. Instead of looking his way, you focused on the projector screen and tried to remain visibly calm and unaffected by his presence, but it was starting to get hard to maintain.
Tumblr media
For the rest of the day, you stayed pretty silent and dodged every question that was being asked. You could tell people were worried and tried to be there for you, but the overwhelming shock of seeing him after nearly three years was still so fresh on your unhealed wound. Even Karina tried to keep people away from you just to let you have some space and give you time to collect your thoughts, knowing later on you’d fill her in, which you did. You called her after you left work, telling how uncomfortable it was with him staring you down and how tense the meeting was and how Doyoung pulled you aside and apologized for his unexpected announcement. Doyoung mentioned specifically he’d chew Jungwoo out for not giving him right information about his whereabouts for your sake.
“I can’t believe that happened, that’s something from like a movie.” You sigh, sticking your key into your door and pushing it open, nearly dropping your phone as you scream. Haechan, who you assumed wanted to surprise you, was standing in your living room with a plate that was covered with a metal lid. Taken aback by your reaction, he too screams and unexpectedly drops the plate which ultimately lands on his foot, furthering his scream. You throw your phone aside after telling Karina you’d call her back, scrambling down to a very much in pain Haechan. “Are you okay hyuckie, how bad does it hurt?”
Haechan moved his hands away from his bruised looking foot. You noticed the cut that was bleeding, frowning as you graze your fingers near his wound. “I’m sorry baby, I ruined your dinner.” When you looked up to meet his eyes, you immediately wanted to cry. He looked so soft and sad, like a puppy that was kicked and it broke your heart to see him apologizing over something so small. Okay, maybe it was just the weight of stress from the day that tipped the tears in your eyes to start spilling mixed in with your overly sweet boyfriend in pain apologizing for something that felt like your fault.
After you cleaned his wound up and had him propped up on the couch with a pillow under his foot, you cleaned up the mess it made and took a well-needed shower after. When you got back, you saw Haechan asleep on your couch, looking too peaceful to wake up. Grabbing the blanket from your closet, you gently drape it over him. He stirs a little, blinking up at you with a smile. “Baby, why didn’t you wake me up?” You shake your head, crouching down to hold his hand as you place a soft kiss onto his cheek. “You looked too peaceful to be woken up, plus you need to rest your foot.” He sits up a little, pushing the blanket off as he tries to get off the couch. “I can still walk, I’m not on crushes.”
You shake your head, helping him up and instead of guiding him to the door, you guide him to your room. “Why aren’t we going to my apartment?” He questions, letting you help him into bed. He knows far too well he can walk on his own, he just finds it too cute that you wanna help him around. “You’re staying with me tonight, duh.” After climbing into bed, you snuggle up to him and rest your head on his chest. His arm that you’re laying against is playing with your hair as you relax under his touch. “Wanna talk about it, your day I mean.” If you had a list of all the things you loved about him, near the top would be his attentiveness and how he seems to always know when something is troubling you.
“Maybe in the morning.” He nods, satisfied and way too tired to pry it out of you. Instead, he kisses the crown of your head and closes his eyes. His thoughts are turning and the sleepiness lets his tongue become a little unfiltered before thinking of his own words. “You know, maybe we can do this more if we lived together.” You could hear your heart beating out of your chest, only hoping that he didn’t hear it as well. You decide not to say anything, opting to go to sleep instead.
When morning comes, Haechan was still asleep and damn did he look so cute. You slowly and as quietly as you can get out of bed, get ready for work and leave your apartment with Haechan in it. You did write him a note and left it on the counter for when he wakes up before rushing out the door and praying your day would be better than yesterday. You genuinely had hopes it would, that is until you actually got to work and ran into the one person you were hoping to avoid. Xiaojun was walking just as you were, waving to you as you with return a nod. Trying to rush to the elevator, you’re starting to think the universe genuinely did enjoy shitting on you as Xiaojun made it just in time in the same elevator with you.
“What floor?” Practically spacing out, you didn’t realize he was talking to you until he got closer to you and started waving his hand in front of you. “I’m sorry, what?” For some ungodly reason, he smiles at you and repeats his question. Your tongue goes dry as you tell him and he clicks on it. You want to crawl into a hole and let the earth swallow you up when you see he only clicked on your floor, meaning he too had to get off on that floor. The rest of the ride up was tense and uncomfortably quiet.
Once the doors open, Xiaojun goes to say something and you can almost guess what he’s about to say before you run, literally run, out the elevator and run into your tiny office space and hide. As embarrassing as you probably look, you’re thankful you kept the conversation short and didn’t have to endure any more short talk with him. You pull your phone from your pocket as it starts buzzing, settling in your chair and logging into your computer. You immediately smile at the caller id, swiping right to answer and bring the phone to your ear. “Hi hyuckie.” You can practically hear his smile through the phone as he shifts around in the background. “Hi baby, i like the note you left me.” Smiling a little wider, you start to click open some unanswered emails.
“I’m glad you like it baby, I meant it too, especially the part about taking one of your toes if so much as lift a hand today.” He laughs, taking a bite of what you assume is the food you asked Yangyang to bring him for you. “Yeah yeah, don’t touch my money makers.” You snicker, holding the phone up with your shoulder as you start to reply to emails and sort through the ones that aren’t as urgent. “Anyway, have you thought of what I said last night?”
“Hm, last night?”
“Yeah, about moving in together and stuff.” The timing of his words and the email you just opened triggered a chain reaction to you feeling awfully sick. The email you received from Doyoung was his email that he got from Jungwoo, telling you that you’d have to work on a piece for an up and coming company with—you guessed it—your ex. “Baby? What’s wrong, you went super quiet.” You almost forgot you’re talking to Haechan, clearing your throat as you type a very infuriating reply to the email. “Uhm, sorry I just got distracted, can we maybe talk about this another time, I’m so sorry baby, but I just—I gotta take care of something real quick.”
You miss the defeated tone in Haechan’s voice when he bids you goodbye before hanging up the phone. As if on cue, Doyoung comes flying into your office, giving you the same sympathetic look he gave you just the day before. “Don’t do anything irrational before you send that email.” You push yourself back from your desk, swiveling your chair around to stare up at him furiously. “Are you kidding me, out of all the people in this building I just so happen to be paired up with him?”
“I know and I tried to fight Jungwoo on it, but he said what we were all thinking.” Doyoung threw his hands up in defense, trying to keep you from tearing him apart. “And that is?” You crossed your arms over your chest, waiting for something logical, anything that’ll make you believe there’s nothing to quit you from going to Jungwoo yourself. “You’re the best we have and he’s also very talented, think about it y/n, if you both work on this together—not even together, just you working on the draft and him finalizing it, it’ll give you so much light.” You hated it, you hated how right he was and how sick it made you feel. You hated that you now were forced to have contact with him and you absolutely hated how Haechan would react.
Just as you’re about to tell Doyoung you didn’t care and that there was no way in hell you’d work with Xiaojun, the man himself peaks into your office as Doyoung is leaving. “Hey y/n, can we talk?” You look to Doyoung for help, but instead he waves you goodbye and disappears amongst the crowd of your coworkers. “Uh, sure?” He leans against your desk, picking at his nails as you can only assume he’s trying to find his words. “I assume you got the email and I just wanna say I’m excited to work with you again.” You feel way too many emotions at once and it’s all overwhelming. Thankfully, he doesn’t look at you directly and can’t tell how close you are to crying.
“In celebration of being back, we’re all going out tonight and I wanted to know if you’re coming or not.” You want to say no, you want to scream it from the top of the building and tell him to eat shit for coming back into your life as if nothing happened, as if he didn’t break you, but you pull it together and shrug. “I guess, if Karina goes of course, don’t wanna be with you alone somewhere.” The last part comes out completely by accident and it throws Xiaojun off. He smiles, taking his leave, leaving you to try and filter your thoughts.
The rest of the day goes by relatively normal and you made sure to text Haechan that you were found out with work friends for dinner. To much surprise, he didn’t ask why and told you to have fun. You told him you’d be back not too late and somehow that was the opposite of how the night ended. When you all left work, everyone immediately wanted to get dinner and have a good time. You on the other hand kept close to Karina even though she invited Yangyang. Karina made the promise to stay by you regardless of her state, but two shots into the night and she was off somewhere dancing on tables with her (soon to be)boyfriend cheering her on.
Awkward tension was surrounding you and Xiaojun as people kept congratulating you both on getting such a big story to cover and to be honest, it didn’t feel like a real celebration. By the end of the night, Karina had lost your keys somewhere between the bathroom and the bar she was clinging to. Xiaojun of course had to be the first to offer you a ride home with the drunk (not yet)couple in his backseat and although you wanted to call Haechan, you felt bad if you got him out the comfort of his bed at this ungodly hour. The drive on the other hand was a breeze since Karina and Yangyang kept spewing nonsense and directly talking shit about Xiaojun.
When you pulled up to your apartment, Xiaojun got out of the car as you did, watching you walk towards your building. Turning around due to the feeling of being watched, you saw him leaning against his door. “Why are you watching me, it’s uncomfortable.” He smiled, shaking his head as reopened his door. “Just making sure you get inside safely.” You chose the safest option and turned back around without a word and went up to your apartment. The only thing you wanted right now was to crawl into your bed after an amazingly hot shower and sleep your worries away, instead you were met with a very upset looking Haechan standing at your front door.
“Hi baby.” You mumble, pushing your door open and walking past him. “Who was that?” His question threw you off, turning to him to see him standing in your doorway with furrowed brows. “Who are you talking about?”
“Pretty boy making heart eyes at my girlfriend, the one whose car you got out of?” You could see the hurt written across his face, making you frown. “Baby, he was no one, don’t worry about him.” He scoffs, dropping his crossed arms to run his fingers through his hair. “He’s not one of your coworkers I’ve seen before, so please y/n, just tell me who the hell was that guy.” You’ve never seen him so upset before, his eyes were glossy and yet there was a lingering anger that you could see in his eyes. “He’s my ex boyfriend—I know it looks bad I know, but I can explain perfectly.”
He looks down at his feet, silently waiting for you to give your explanation. “He used to work at the came company, but he ended up moving back home to work at the sister company and we broke up—I promise you hyuck there’s nothing going on between us, he just dropped me off because Karina lost my keys and they all wanted to celebrate him coming back and I didn’t have a ride ho-“
“Why didn’t you call me?” It was all too much, your senses overwhelmed. Both of you were a mess, crying as you each tried to keep it together. “It’s late and you’re hurt and I didn-“
He scoffed, taking a step back and out your front door. “So you take a ride with your ex instead of calling your boyfriend..is he the reason you don’t wanna move in with me?” Shaking your head, you try to reach out for him in hopes he’d let you in, instead he shuts you out and takes another step back. “Please hyuck, I do wanna move in with you, I just can’t.” Everything was happening too fast, Haechan silently went back to his apartment leaving you falling to your knees in tears with your door wide open.
That night, you felt empty inside. It seemed dramatic, but you truly never had such a bad fight with Haechan before. Sure, you two would have small petty fights, but this one ripped your heart right out your chest and all you could think of was how he might leave you. The next morning, you laid in your bed, crying on the pillow Haechan used each time he stayed over. You had already told Doyoung you’d be working from home for the rest of the week, making up an excuse that you were sick and didn’t feel like coming into work and risking everyone else getting it as well. Of course Doyoung wished you a good recovery and told you he’d email you everything you needed.
As the day passed, you laid dormant in your bed while watching the sun rise and fall from its shine through your window. A knock on your front door caught your attention, immediately rushing up from your bed and running through your apartment to answer it. When you opened the door, you were hoping to be met with Haechan, instead you saw Karina holding a duffel bag. “Don’t just stand there, lemme in, it’s cold.” You stepped aside, sniffling as she entered your apartment. You could hear shuffling coming from down the hall, watching Yangyang come up and to Haechan’s door along with Renjun and Mark. They all gave you a sympathetic smile when seeing you nearly break down, knocking on Haechan’s door.
You stood there, waiting for it to open just to get a glimpse. You needed to see him, almost desperate to see him and you wanted nothing more to have him back in your arms. Mark picked his phone from his pocket, answering it and nodding before hanging up his call. “He said it’s unlocked.” Both boys nodded at the other before giving you one last look before they all disappeared into Haechan’s apartment. Karina gently guided you from your door, holding you when you turned into her arms and let it all go.
Not exactly how long you stood by your door crying into her shirt, but being the amazing friend she is, she held you as you let it all out. The stress from work, the stress and pain from being forced to be around Xiaojun and the stress and pain of worrying of losing Haechan was all too much and you finally let it all out. Once you had calmed down, both you and Karina settled in your bed and watched your favorite moves for the rest of the night till you got hungry. “Go shower and I’ll order food.” You could only nod, imagining how bad you smelt from wallowing in your bed all day.
As you got in the shower, Karina ordered your favorite take out and waited till it was delivered. She went to get it from the delivery man when she spotted Haechan coming up to his apartment. Not knowing if she should say hello or not, she paid for the food and stood awkwardly in your doorway. From the looks of it, he looked just as bad as you did. Hair unkept to, clothes inside out and mismatching and he overall looked heartbroken. She started to think he didn’t notice her, until he finally made eye contact. “How..is she?” She too felt her eyes start to sting thinking about you and how softly you tried to cry in the shower when she passed by.
“She’s not herself, but I got her.” He simply nodded, standing in front of his door for a minute. “Karina, did the food come?” Your voice caught both of their attentions, making Karina turn around and shut the door before she caught sight of him. When the door shut, Haechan silently cried as he entered his apartment, being brought into a group hug with the three boys.

A few weeks had passed since your fight with Haechan and both of you were avoiding each other, despite how much you wanted to talk to one another. When he was coming in from work, you’d be opening the door for Karina or leaving to go meet up with Xiaojun for work. I know, meeting with your ex when you and your boyfriend aren’t talking isn’t ideal, but Jungwoo got down your throat about your project and wanted a final draft soon. Karina kept telling you to man up and text him first, be the bigger person and to ‘get it over with’ so she doesn’t have to see you mope around.
In your defense—you tried to text him and every time you did you could see the three little bubbles indicating he was too trying to text you. You always chickened out, waiting for him to finish his text, only to be saddened when the bubbles disappear and your heart breaks all over again. As you’re sitting on your couch binging It’s Okay To Not Be Okay for the fifth time this week, you hear a knock on your door and don’t think much of it. When you get off the couch and finally open the door, to much surprise you don’t see who you expect. Usually when you hear a knock, it’s typically Karina and if she can’t come, she’ll send Yangyang in her place. You were even hoping it’d be Haechan, instead you were met with a very smiley Xiaojun.
You notice the flowers—your favorite flowers in his hand and a bag of what smells like your favorite food. The old you probably would’ve swooned at him standing in front of you, but the person you are now is completely taken aback by his unannounced arrival, more importantly how did he remember where you lived. “What do you want?” Now he looks taken aback, not expecting your reaction. “I uh, can I come in, it’s kinda cold out here.” You relax, leaning against your door frame with arms crossed over your chest. “No, now answer my question.” He takes in a deep breath, swallowing thickly while trying to avoid your gaze.
“Well, it’s our anniver—“
“Was our anniversary, past tense.”
“Yeah, was, um, but I thought you’d like to come out with me, but judging by your absence at work I decided to come to you instead.” Your deadpan expression should give away how you feel, but you almost forget who you’re dealing with. He was the same way when you two dated, completely oblivious to your feelings despite your body language giving it away. “Xiaojun, I’m sorry if you got some mixed signals by me being in your general presence, but I have a boyfriend actually and I’m not really into the douchebag type anymore, sorry.”
He scoffs, dropping his hand that was holding the flowers. “You could’ve just said no, you don’t have to make up having a boyfriend.” You’re not exactly sure how the universe managed to pull this off, but just as Xiaojun was finishing his sentence, Haechan was walking up to his door with Yangyang and Mark. “Actually, that’s my boyfriend right there, wave hi.” You point to Haechan who was confused seeing you and your ex staring at him. “Who, the one with blonde hair?” You visibly gag, shaking your head while Mark snickers at the very offended Yangyang. “Ew, no, the brunette, that’s the boyfriend, so sorry, bye bye now.” You give Xiaojun a little shove away from your door, pushing him a little further before going back into your apartment.
You almost miss the look Haechan is giving you, making your stomach turn upside down with butterflies that cry out for him. Something inside tells you to stay, to hope he comes over and scoops you up and kisses you to make up for each kiss he missed out, but you choose to hold it together and shut your door before you completely break down all over again.

Another long week passed with no word from Haechan and you’re starting to think he’s never going to talk to you again. By the end of the week, you’re fed up with it all. You’re over the silence from his end and the avoided eye contact in the hall when passing one another, you’re especially over spending your first year anniversary alone in bed in the morning. Thankfully it was a weekend and you didn’t have to go into work with puffy eyes and tear stained cheeks, opting to finally confront Haechan and sort through the shit show your relationship has come to.
Sometime between crying to old Taylor Swift songs and brushing your teeth, you go over what you want to say to him in case he breaks up with you and the thought leaves a bitter taste on your tongue that the brush cannot get rid of. You finish getting ready for the day, taking your time to eat breakfast in hopes that it all goes well. Karina had called earlier, trying to give you a pep-talk and hype you up, but she only added fuel to your nervousness. Deciding to stop stalling anymore, you leave your apartment and stand frozen in front of Haechan’s door. The butterflies in your stomach are beating against you, rushing around to be set free.
With a deep breath, you knock on his door and await in the background noise of the city. After some shuffling, you see Haechan swing the door open and you feel your knees giving in just by the sight of him. His hair has been trimmed, combed nicely and parted even with what you assume is styling gel. He was wearing some of his nicer clothes in his closet, no suit and tie, but more of his favorite jeans and a shirt that complements both his shirt and skin tone. He has his shoes on, as if he was about leave and part of you is terrified to know where he was going. “Go back home, you’re not supposed to be here.”
Now you’re a little taken aback by him, furrowing your brows as he immediately realizes how harsh that sounds. “No, no not like that—I mean I had things planned and I was supposed to come to you and it was supposed to be roman—“ As expected, you completely melt as he tries to explain and instead of staring at him like he’s an idiot—(he is but he’s your idiot)—you pull on his collar and take him into a very awaited kiss. Haechan is just as surprised as you are, hesitating a little before wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you into his apartment to hold you closer.
The two of you share an intimate and very much missed kiss, holding one another until you’re both out of breath and pull back. “I missed you hyuck.” You couldn’t see the goofy boyish smile he had, his heart doing flips in his chest at the use of the nickname. “I missed you even more baby, I promise I’ll never go that long without you again, I mean it baby.” Letting out the breath of relief, you took this moment to re-familiarize yourself with Haechan. His touch was still the same, gentle yet firm when he held you. His lips were still as soft as ever, a little dry—but a few swipes of chapstick never hurt anyone.
“I think we should talk about this all, I really do—but I have a surprise first.” You look up at him, smiling as he grabs both of your hands and leads you out of his apartment. “Where are we going?” He shakes his head at you, wiggling his finger after making sure his door was locked. “It’s a surprise woman, don’t ask me questions I can’t answer.” You roll your eyes at him, sticking your tongue out to which he blows a kiss. Following him down to his car, you both get in and head out for whatever his surprise was. You start to look around, heading just a little further down in the city to an area that was somewhat familiar.
“Alright, we’re here.” Once he parked the car, both you and Haechan got out of the car and he took your hand into his. Giving his hand a squeeze, he returned the squeeze with a smile. “You look beautiful by the way, especially when you’re telling your ex off.” You snicker, rolling your eyes at him while following alongside. The two of you walk up to a cafe door, Haechan covering your eyes with one hand as he pulls the door open. “Okay, now take a couple steps forward—but be careful not to fall, I cannot afford to spend our first anniversary at the hospital.”
“And if I do, don’t judge me.” He only smiles, coming in behind you as he still holds his hands over your eyes. You can feel how close he’s gotten, his breath fanning your neck as he drops his hand and you finally take in everything. There were rose petals scattered all over the floor of the cafe that the two of you first met, all leading to the table you were seated that day and circling around it. On the table was your favorite dinner from a chain restaurant that you two ordered on your first official date and along the wall are polaroids you took at the reception of Johnny’s wedding.
Tears began to swell in your eyes, turning around to pull him close and peck small kisses all over his face. He holds your waist, taking in the affection he missed so much. “I know we have a lot to talk about and a lot of explaining to do for the distance between us these last few week, but right now I just want you to know I love you, I’m head over heels in love with you and I wouldn’t have asked for anyone else to want to spend my life with.”
“We’ll talk about that later, for now, I just wanna be with you.” Haechan didn’t have any problem with that, leading you over to the table where you two sat and ate and talked for hours. He told you about how the boys tried to cheer him up and even helped him rent the cafe out for the day—which was very expensive, he mentioned. You told him the full backstory about Xiaojun and Haechan fully understood why you didn’t want him around. Regardless of him being your ex, the two of you were just no good and created a bad environment for you to be in. For the rest of the night, you both danced around the cafe to music Haechan could sing on the spot and had the best night to end your perfectly imperfect first anniversary.

Relationship with SuperM
Tumblr media
Taemin sees her as a little sister - he sees her as like, a distant sister because the other SHINee members kind of raised her on the side as well lol. He likes being around her because he finds her cold outer appearance interesting and amusing for him (one of the few who were not scared of her at first)
They got closer once the announcement of SuperM was released to them, they now had an opportunity to really hang out and get to know each other
They bond over the other SHINee members first before they venture out and talk about other random stuff
Now, they really do see each other as siblings, teasing each other all the time - he especially loves teasing her that he is the older one out of the two
They also bond over dancing
She's not super good like him, of course, but she is pretty good at dancing for someone who only started dancing when they became a trainee - Taemin and her spend time dancing together, and he helps her to improve further
Sometimes they will release a surprise video of the two dancing together, just to create chaos with their fans
Nari was the female voice featured in Taemin's song 'Idea'
Tumblr media
He found her intriguing when she was a trainee - she wasn't bright and bubbly like other female trainees, but was calm and collected, not showing much expression
It made him want to crack that mask and make her laugh or express another emotion
He couldn't do it that much back then, her walls were pretty up and strong, but after she debuted and they were put together for SuperM, he was on a mission
Slipped through her walls through his comedy acts, making her laugh a lot with the others
But he definitely got her when he took the role of leader in SuperM and looked after them all; she grew to lean on him and trust him
After some bonding time, they became siblings with him being the annoying older brother to her, and her becoming the little sister to him that he just wants to tease and coddle at the same time
He is immune to her cold and intimidating appearance. He looks at her and just thinks, "I'm gonna annoy her until she tries to end my life."
Apart from the constant teasing, they really perform well together, and he loves singing with her - her alto voice blends well with his singing, and they love to have high note singing competitions lololol
Tumblr media
He found her scary...
But thanks to Baekhyun, he realised that she wasn't scary and was a nice person
He loooovvess to tease her - especially when it comes to their age; he likes to remind her that he is older than her by a year (I don't know why he does that, he just finds it amusing)
Nari is ready to throw hands when he continues teasing her - he's like an annoying older brother for her, always teasing her and bothering her
Kai loves seeing her reaction whenever he bothers her - but he's ready to run when it looks like Nari wants to commit a crime and is staring directly at him
Outside of teasing, Nari admires his performance energy and always asks him on how she can improve, so he will put away the playfulness and help her sincerely
He wants to help her in performance/idol life and also help her relax, because he can see the amount of pressure that is put on her as the only female member in NCT, and being in so many groups it's concerning
He feels like she doesn't have time to destress from the responsibilities and pressures she has on her, so he wants to help her and protect her as much as he can (and annoy her on the side). He's ready to defend her against the haters as much as he can, and just be the older brother he can be for her since she's mainly used to looking after younger members and not being taken care of.
