NEW YEARS EVE at THE TOP OF THE STANDARD

An unforgettable night to be experienced in New York City. Even the darker corners of the city seem luxurious, tonight — citizens dressed in sharp clothing and bathed by confetti and fireworks.

At The Top of the Standard, a party which brings together about the most illustrious and polarizing individuals together, for one night only.

Goodbye 2023 — Hello, 2024.

OOC INFORMATION:

THIS IS A MINI EVENT. We want to give members the opportunity to participate in case they want to do something for the holiday, but without the stricter set-up of a usual event.

AS IT IS A MINI-EVENT, MEMBERS AREN’T REQUIRED TO PAUSE NON-EVENT THREADS DURING THIS PERIOD, AND IT IS NOT MANDATORY TO PARTICIPATE. If you want to ‘ignore’ New Years Eve and simply continue with your regular threads as usual, there is no problem in doing so.

IC, the event takes place on the night of December 31st / Early hours of January 1st. OOC, the end date will be determined soon.

Members are encouraged to plot within themselves what their characters will be up to during the event. If you come up with any heavier conflict to happen, please just make sure to shoot the main a message first.

Creative Outfit & Narrative headcanon: What outfit is your character wearing? Who are they with? Why have they decided to attend? Do they have any superstitions or New Years Eve traditions? What do they crave for in 2024? Answer all or any of these through a post of your liking. <3

He leans against a brightly painted arcade cabinet, and drinks, and watches his target from afar. No one's wanted to play Dig-Dug anyways. Shame, since Asa's a whiz at it. The target, a man, is sat with friends near the little tables. And he's so boringly simple - drinking, shouting... and Asa knows where he's headed next, too. A whole bar crawl, and by the end, he'll be so easy to do in. It's painful, almost. But it means Asa can enjoy his own entertainment. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes... and kill someone by the end of the night. Fantastic.

"Everyone always goes for the ones with the fake guns, don't they?" He turns a perhaps slightly too calm face towards the person nearby. "Bit sad. I've never had the taste for those. You ever tried this one, though?" Irish accent lingers on a confident tongue. "Big hit with my father, back in the 80s."

Riley shows up at the invitation of @theolangley, and she cleans up well despite the recent upheavals in her life. Though she'd much rather be at home and laughing at the tourists who gather for hours in Times Square to watch the ball drop, she cuts a dashing figure amidst the crowd in a three-piece tuxedo pantsuit and a cocktail in hand. For now, she's enjoying the open bar and the unexpected company, uncertain what it bodes for the year to come.

A POLITICAL RENDEZVOUS at THE CLOISTERS

FINAL PART

The auction is over. The winners are announced. Guests leave the venue either celebrating, or cursing the Cloisters for all they're worth.

The protest outside the venue caused some disturbance — including making it hard for Abel Rousseau (@abelrousseau) and Alan Dietrich (@alandietrich) to leave the premises, getting trapped by its chaos —, and it ended with a few pairs of wrists in tight handcuffs. In the list of names you can find Sebastian Sideris (@sebastiansideris) and Vanja Janko-Pagonis (@vanjajanko-pagonis), who were arrested by Rowan Halliday (@chiefhalliday) and Flynn Halliday (@flynnxhalliday).

The Democrats rounded out the event with a whopping $171,600 worth of donations through the auction, despite the mysterious disappearance of the garland style diamond necklace — which had been been purchased for $30,000... but ultimately stolen by Zane Saxena (@zanexsaxena) before it could be to its new owner. Across the isle, Republicans ended the auction at $91,650 worth of donations.

Coincidence or not, the same results were reflected on the cover of the New York Times the very next day — with the Democrats leading the polling numbers by 5%.

The roles assigned above are a reflection of the 'BY THE END OF PART 3...' prompt provided in the previous part. Please do read back in case you missed it! Points* were tallied by the admins and the characters with most/least bucks were given the plot points above — which they can do anything with from that! While those pointers must happen, everything else in plotting is up to you.

*The points which were taken into consideration were: Replies posted + challenges completed, excluding only auction wins as we wanted to avoid wealthier characters to have an advantage over the rest. Worry not, those auction points will still be added to your burnie bucks bank — they just weren't included in this particular in-character round up.

The hijacking of an auction item was purchased in the burnie bucks store by Zane Saxena.

In addition, Mathias Malkovich is the character who acquired the most amount of points overall during the event, with a total of 1720 points. As a result, the player will get to choose a reward as offered by the admins. Those options being:

Promotion to Senior Hitman — A level above the one Mathias currently holds, where he would then earn higher income, and be assigned to higher profile targets. (Alternatively, a different position within the Hitman realm, which can be suggested by the player.)

Get Out of Jail Free Card — What it says on the tin. Mathias may do one thing of his choice, be it a crime or otherwise, and get away with it with no consequences.

Always-Available Blame Key — One Blame Key which Mathias may use for anything, whenever he wants to; free of charge and that can be used without constraints of any events, plots, etc.

This is probably, ironically, the perfect place for Asa to be in his current state. A mess of excitement and adrenaline based on his bloodlust from a few nights ago only being exacerbated by the dark underbelly of the Gentille Fille. The sounds of hard fists against flesh, grunts and groans, sometimes even cracking or crunching of... well. It should make him nervous. Or even nauseous. However.

"So... anyone can fight?" He asks whoever's nearest, eyes transfixed on the brawl going on in the center. The medic's dark eyes gleam in curiosity, a drink still in his hand.
