The Lake Journey vs The Ocean Journey
i wanted to make a post detailing the differences between the two journeys, the first in Arc 2 and the second in Arc 4.5
The Lake Journey
the journey to the lake is a hard, but optimistic event. the adults, who have spent their entire lives in the forest, are obviously traumatised from having to leave their birth homes, and some having to leave their parents behind, while the apprentices and kits are excited for a journey. there's bonding, sharing of cultures, many apprentices are made warriors during this, and some of them begin life long friendships with the other clans.
When they get to the lake, their amazed and fascinated by the sheer difference in the wildlife, discovering dozens of prey- mostly birds- that they've never seen before. It was particularly exciting for the Queens, who got a whole ton of new prefixes to use for their kits. Adjusting to their new territories wasn't as hard as they expected, except for Shadowclan, who went from a starving marshland to a prey-filled pine forest. Prey was plentiful when they arrived, and aside from the Mudclaw Civil War Incident, there was more peace than the clans had seen in a long time.
Of course, tragedy did strike, with the death of Cinderspark and Sootfur during the Badger Attack, but for the most part, things were good.
The Ocean Journey
The journey to the Ocean, on the other hand, was a desperate, tiring experience. They had even less choice with where they were going this time, not having the time to send a group ahead to scout for a proper territory. They initially went back to the Forest- but that was completely destroyed, and only made the older warriors and elders more upset about losing yet another home. Sorrowful, quiet stories were shared about the forest, before they had to continue onwards, pick a direction, and keep walking.
Starclan had left them by that point, too injured by the battle with the Dark Forest to contact them. Jayfeather and Hollyleaf were the ones to lead the journey, the rest of them too tired or injured to lead. Brackenstar couldn't risk his health, as with no starclan, he never got the other 8 lives, and he hadn't picked a deputy in moons. It's not as if the stars could approve.
Grief was a heavy thing during this journey, dozens of cats had died during and in the moon after the fight. litters of kits were born stillborn, the first cases of such in Jayfeather's lifetime, and a barrage of predator attacks and water poisonings had killed off some of their best warriors. Most of the clans were injured, in one way or another, but they couldn't afford to stay at the Lake for any longer, so they walked, or were carried, or were dragged on sleds. There was bonding, in a way, but not the light hearted bonding that came with the Lake Journey, this was a bonding over trauma, over the horror they had witnessed. They had only been at the Lake for 4 generations, maybe less, it was a jarring experience to still have living cats who remembered being apprenticed in the Forest.
Except for Firestar, of course. He had been one of the casulaties of the initial fight, he hadn't lived to see the aftermath. Thunderclan missed him deeply, but none of them wanted him to bear witness to such a tragedy. But he wasn't gone, not entirely, as Sandstorm was carrying his kits. She only found out after he was gone.
Settling into the ocean territory was far more of an adjustment, Shadowclan was now back in a marshland, but those that remembered living in the Forest knew they'd starve far before anything else could kill them, so they went inwards, they claimed a cave system as most of their territory, the marshland only a mouth to it. a true Shadow now.
Riverclan went from grassland and rivers to a beach with rockpools, a jarring and completely new habitat that had animals the clans had never witnessed before. They had to completely change their hunting techniques, as ocean hunting was nothing like the rivers they were used to.
Thunderclan went from mostly oak to mostly birch, not a huge difference, but it was just similar enough to the Forest camp that the senior warriors were unable to settle for a long while. the remaining Frostthree kept swearing they could see their sister relearning how to walk in the clearing, Sandstorm couldn't shake the image of her father's body at the entrance, and Greystripe held back tears as he told stories of training alongside Firepaw and Ravenpaw. Dovewing left for Shadowclan, causing yet another reminder of the Forest.
Windclan was now in a human-planted flower field, compared to their dry heath and moorland. It was certainly a brighter enviroment, but they too adjusted to an underground camp, in the weaving tunnels under their territory. There were no cats left who remembered the days of Heatherstar and the original Tunnelers, though Onestar had tried valiantly to bring them back, as per Tallstar's last wish. Harestar had to work even harder to prove herself as a trustworthy cat, after her training in the Dark Forest.
Although the clans found a spot where the moon was well reflected in the puddles of a small cave, Starclan was unresponsive, and so nobody really went to it. Only Hollyleaf did.
But then, things got worse, as the Six lost their powers, at the same time, on the same day, with no warning. Dovewing was listening in on an apprentice ceremony in Windclan when everything went silent, and she realised she couldn't hear anything. Breezepelt was in the middle of a rant to Heathertail when his throat closed up. Lionblaze was helping with some heavy items when he suddenly collapsed to the ground, barely able to pick himself up. Raven and Bracken were finishing their nests in the abandoned twolegplace when they both fell severely ill, in opposite ways. Bracken ran burning hot, as Raven froze to the bone. It was only because Hollyleaf was on her way to check on them that they survived.
Hollyleaf herself didn't notice it, initially, as her powers are based on being around people, so travelling to the abandoned twolegplace on her own hid the loss of her powers until she found Raven and Bracken. And when she realised her powers were not responding, and neither were theirs, thats when she found out. Jayfeather also struggled to notice, until Lionblaze tried to tell him that he was okay after his collapse, and Jayfeather's lie detection didn't go off. It was only then did he realise he could only feel his own emotions, nobody else's were smothering him like normal. He hated that he didn't feel relieved.
Now, i havent decided if Ivypool gets powers too, or from the same place, but if she does, she is sleeping when it happens. When she is woken up in a panic by her clanmates- because of Jay and Lion's powers vanishing- she does not recognise them. she does not remember them. her power was a perfect memory, so without it, she develops some version of amnesia. Perhaps not permenant, but long-lasting enough that it seriously alters her life. She also exhausts far easier, her enhanced speed completely gone, replaced with bone-deep exhaustion most of the time.
The clans found this to be the worst part of it. Their star-given heroes, the prophecy cats that just saved the clans, were powerless. To say the clans panicked would be an understatement. They knew the stars were gone, but to revoke the powers of a prophecy already fufilled? the stars were not just gone, they had abandoned them. Night fell on that fateful day, and the sky was pitch black. the stars were gone.
And thats where Flamespring's story begins, born three dark, starless nights after.

Squirrelstar..? Squirreltail….?
Yes! I’ve made him! Took me a day and a half to finally do this but I’ve made Squirreltail/star! And male version of Squirrelflight.
In this Au, he actually doesn’t like Bramblestar as a lover but as a frienenimey- his mate becomes ___ (suggestions please I haven’t gone that far lol)
He is a little on the calm side like Firestar as a warrior. As a apprentice he’s actually a mix of Sandstorm and Firestar. He has his father playful but mature attitude and his mothers spunkiness. He becomes a great leader, known for how manipulative he is but in a good way. He doesn’t usually get into unnecessary trouble unless it’s for his sister Leafpool. His three adopted kits are The three like in the main series; though he says that he found them in the forest, so the three always know that their father isn’t him and they don’t have a mother. (Unless he finds a mate lol)
Squirrelstar eventually is also seen as a caring tom, taking in loners and rogues for shelter, and even though some don’t like it, they except it. (Mostly Skyclan excepts it cause they do the exact same thing lol)

If I'm busy whining about the graphic novel design for Runningnose, can I just ask whats up with his chin?
So I know a lot of designs for Runningnose will give him worn away fur around his nose to show how much he wipe snot off it, but how does that translate to the fur on his CHIN getting worn off!?
Is he just wiping the snot off his chin? I'm just realizing he never even has any snot on his nose in the entire graphic novel (or at least im pretty sure, I'm not going back to check)

Hi!! Same person who requested the Hades oneshot lol! I loved it alot and I know it's like super early to request another but I wanna get this out before I forget ^^. Okay so what about a Fem!Reader who is a mermaid or siren. Poseidons daughter, who is usually aggressive to anyone who enters her waters but Clarisse somehow is dating her, reader only has a soft spot for clarisse so when they need to cross her waters during capture the flag only clarisse can convince her ^^.(also reader often adopts random fish and clarisse is always swarmed with them when in her pond/waters.) Thank you!!

clarisse la rue x fem!siren!reader
warnings: reader doesn't like demigods, possibly ooc clarisse.
wc: 2k
a/n: i hope u like this🩷🎀
Tumblr media
If there's one thing you hate more than demigods is their little capture the flag game. You view these half breeds as unresponsible, mischievous, and disrespectful beings.
You never saw the appeal in gods mingling with mortals and making children with them when they are so many other creatures they could be with.
Your father have tasked you into protecting the waters, and that is who you are. Lady of the lake, guardian of the sea.
The job isn't exactly glamorous, it have been more than a few time that you have caught some sneaky, filthy demigods canoodling in the waters, making out or doing worse.
Your ways into scaring them to leave have gotten less and less subtle as the years pass by and more aggressive. A few weeks ago, you had come close into strangling a kid from the Hermes cabin who had thrown his empty Snickers wrapper into the sea. You were deeply reprimanded by Chiron that same day.
You never see the boy near the waters anymore since that event.
But today...today is different. Every year, the demigods participate in the game of Capture the flag, and though every year they would try and use different routes and strategies, passing through the waters is always necessary. Which meant that whether you liked it or not, the demigods would pollute your waters anyways.
"I'm not going in." You could hear the kids argue among themselves. "Last time someone did, they got jumped by that thing."
"Mermaids don't jump, dumbass." His brother countered, only to be corrected by a familiar voice; "She's not a mermaid, she's a siren, and we don't have a choice."
Both of them were right. You would try and scare anyone who dares enter in, but you would let them in sooner or later. Even though you knew that rules must be abided.
"Move aside, I'll talk to her." Clarisse spoke again.
You weren't that close to land, but swam up nearer when you heard her approaching your territory. "Hey-hello?", she called out as her feet steps into the water.
"Lady...protector, I ask permission to speak to you." The daughter of Ares spoke as if she was unfamiliar with you, and either it was because her siblings were there or because she still considers the concept of your relationship a strange anonymity.
You knew who Clarisse was, you first met her 2 years ago. You wish you could say that she's different from the other obnoxious children, but she isn't.
The girl is as foolish as she is brave. She did not believe in other's warning to tread carefully around the waters, and so when you appeared despite her doubt that you would, she ran off in fear just like all the kids before her.
But a day after that, she came back.
She sat by the edge of dry land and waited for you to appear. And when you did, the same anxiety you've seen on many people's faces before was etched on hers.
But she did not run off that time, instead she gave you an apology, and a gift. A string bracelet made of tiny seashells. An offering, she called it. As if you were one of the gods.
You told her to stop collecting seashells, but thanked her for it anyway.
Since that day, she would come down ny the water more often, not too much that it'll annoy you, but enough times for you to grow a liking for her.
Some nights, when you're in a good mood, you'd even let her meet your sea creature friends. Not a lot of people manage to get close enough to not scare the fishes and crabs.
You are not in a good mood today.
Small waves were sent back up as a response to Clarisse, but it seemed that she needed more. "We need to cross the water." She informed, straight to the point.
She knew you wouldn't be answering her verbally, it isn't like you to appear in broad daylight. You kept the waves coming to indicate your presence and waited for her to speak again.
"Let us pass quickly, and we won't bother you for the whole year again." Clarisse attempted to bargain.
The truth was, she didn't need to ask you at all and you would've still let her pass. But she didn't know that and neither does her siblings, so you act as if you're still contemplating her deal. A few minutes later, the waves slowed down until they completely stopped, a finalised decision has been made.
"Is that a no?" Her brother asked. They couldn't read you like they could.
"Just get in the water." Clarisse instructed with an annoyed sighh as she lead the way, letting the waters surround her legs. That was another thing you had in common with her, you both agree that everyo e else in camp is insufferable.
You watched them waddle their way through from below, hidden from the side of the sea until eventually, they crossed over to dry land, getting closer and closer to the flag.
No one else tried to enter the waters again for the rest of the day. And 20 minutes after you had granted Clarisse safe passage, you could hear the cheers coming from the red coloured team.
---
As midnight approaches the hour, a rare sight comes into view around your space.
Fireflies dances above the large body of water, glowing over the places where the moonlight couldn't.
It's time like this where the most glorious parts of nature would come out of their hiding, the quiet is inviting. And the peace, comforting.
This has been your life since you could remember. And you were content with it. Despite your mother merely being a siren, your father acknowledged you and gave you responsibilities that he'd only give to people he trusted. The creatures of the water and the trees are your friends, a distraction for boredom and repetition.
And though you've had no problem repeating the same cycle of routine daily, you only knew what yearning meant after you met Clarisse La Rue.
Before her, you never knew what it felt like to wake up waiting on the best part of the day. You never knew what loneliness had meant up until you met her.
Only after Clarisse, did you realize empty and unfulfilling your life had really been. To be so good at what you're doing and yet, not having anyone who notices it or to care for you the way you've been caring for the sea and rivers.
But the thing with Clarisse is you never know when she's gonna come. It's impossible for her to visit you ever night, what with Chiron's guarding. And she had her own life apart from you.
Your infatuation with her soon lessened moderately when you realized just how ridiculous it is for you to assume that she views you as more than anything but a fascinating mythical creature, but your liking for her never truly leaves you.
You were not expecting her tonight, knowing full well how taxing and tiring their little game was. The children would all sleep like babies tonight.
And yet, from where you're sat, back leaning against a boulder, you hear her footsteps entering your grounds.
You tilt your head slightly, sneaking a glance at her before you turn back to your front, watching the fireflies disappear and the fishes lurking near your feet.
You felt her presence behind you and said nothing. It isn't uncommon for you to be silent around her, after all there is a risk of you accidentally affecting her with your voice.
You only turned to her when she knelt down to your left. Her face is shadowed by the darkness, without the fireflies, it was harder to see things.
"Hey." She greeted in a hushed tone. You stare at her quietly, responding to her in your mind. "I wanted to see you tonight, to thank you." Clarisse explained.
Her team had won, thanks to your cooperation. You offered her a small smile, something that is rare even between the two of you. Clarisse grinned back, encouraged by your positive attitude.
"I know how much you hate it when there's people over. You didn't have to let us cross, but you did."
You did have to let her cross, there are rules even you had to follow. But she didn't need to know that. Plus, if it were anyone else, you would've made it harder for them to cross.
The tiny goldfishes are surrounding your lower half that's still soaked inside the water, as if guiding you back under, you ignore them as your eyes remain on Clarisse. She looked beautiful like this, with her hair down and sleepy eyes that only you have the privilege to see before the sun rises.
She was pulling something out of her pocket suddenly and fixing her sitting position."I also got you something, a gift."
You had expected this. Clarisse often came to you with little gifts. Flowers, shiny rocks, dead butterflies.
Her hands are wrapped around the item strategically to hide it from you. If she was trying to get you excited, it's working. You push your neck out to try and get a peak on it, but it's gripped closely.
Clarisse pushes her hands outband slowly opened up her palms to you, exposing a circular bracelet, covered in a bright yellow colour.
"Gold." You noted aloud and looked up at her. "It is. Do you like it?" She asks, smiling.
You nod your head once and extend your wrist to her.
Clarisse easily puts it on over your hand, the size fitting perfectly. You wondered if this notion have somehow changed something in your relationship, but didn't know how to ask.
"I had someone from the Hephaestus cabin to make this for you. I wanted it to mean something...not just for you, but for me too." She had said it all so well, your heart skipped a beat over her words.
Clarisse probably didn't know, but for your species, gifting and offerings are usually considered as courting methods. And so you found it genuinely amusing how easy it is for her to be going around, getting you stuff unprompted.
You also had a gift for her. Something you've been keeping to yourself for months, contemplating on whether or not you should actually give it to her.
But it's been sitting down deep in the water, safely waiting to be retrieved.
And so without saying anything, you moved away from her and dived into the waters. You made sure to be quick, swiftly reaching for the closed shell into your palms.
And as you make your way back up onto the shores, you see that Clarisse is thankfully, still waiting.
Your fingers found hers as you tried to climb back up onto dry land. She does not hesitate to wrap her long arms under your elbow, pulling you up towards her.
Once you're seated next to her again, you nudged the shell onto her hand and waited for her to open it. Clarisse cracked open the pouch and opened her mouth to let out a soft breathy sigh at the sight of a singular white pearl that sat inside of it.
"Are you...giving this to me?" She asks, turning her head towards you. You nodded as a yes.
"You know, I think this would make a decent ring." She tells you, thumbing the stone. You raise your hand up to lightly graze over her collarbones. "You think I should make it a necklace?"
You nod again. Clarisse seemed pleased at how engaging you've been throughout this whole meeting, trying her best to coax a conversation out of you.
There are so many things you want to tell her of. Things you aren't ready to tell her yet. And so for now, whatever this is would have to be enough.
Clarisse shoves the pearl into her back pocket after. “Thank you.” She says gratefully. The silence was no longer excruciating nor suffocating. Instead it is loud in unsaid confessions and comfort in understanding.

in your anthro au, does bramble actually make it to canada? is the plotline of the lake territory scrapped for something else?
rambled quite a bit here!
no, they dont make it to canada. they abandoned that idea after feather was killed. instead her funeral and burial is held in california by her dying wish and her family drives/flies over. graystripe and mosspelt took feather's car, but mosspelt flies back home via plane. graystripe is staying wirh storm indefinitely and eventually meets millie.
with storm's blessing, bramble, tawny, crow, and squirrel take the van back home. tawny is dropped off on the way, but crow insists on tagging along to thunder because he's not ready to be alone yet. his family is pretty small and he's not sure his parents will be able to help much, as much as they may try.
dodging the draft can get you into trouble, but there are many that got off scot free and bramble was one pf those lucky fellows (especially with firestar's involvement. he made sure bramble wouldn't have it held against him in return for keeping squirrel safe and bringing her home). firestar was furious at both bramble and squirrel but he's not cruel and unsympathetic, especially considering they just lost a very close friend (and that gray isnt coming back for a while).
this is where crow and leaf meet, crow is kinda bunking with bramble at his place and even had plans to move in for good. his parents were pretty combative but couldnt do much since he was a few states away!!! they dont know where the fuck thunder-whatever is. but eventually he gets a call about his father's rapidly declining health and immediately abandons his plans to stay. he asks leaf to come with him but leaf still isn't finished with med school (she doesn't know she's pregnant yet) and they part ways. crow makes it home to help ashfoot care for deadfoot in his final few months and fills in after his father dies. it's something he didnt plan to continue but its notnlike he HATES doing the work. eventually meets+marries nightcloud a 1-4 yrs later
leaf meanwhile continues med school. being unmarried with kids is still a social taboo, especially at such a young age (im imagining she and squirrel are around 18-19 by now, 17 during the road trip). squirrel and bramble, however, had been in a relationship with one another for a while after coming back home. sure, it got a bit messy when ashfur came back from vietnam and got a bit too close to squirrel for comfort, but they sorta resolved it and eventually bramble/squirrel got engaged. leaf confided in squirrel for her help with the pregnancy and squirrel immediately offered to take the children in as her own if leaf needed. it was a huge jump but leaf took the offer. bramble was let in on the plan the closer leaf got to her due date. he thought it was a very impulsive decision and they fought a bit about making the decision without him but he was enthusiastic about being a father regardless.
the others in town had their suspicions but dont ask dont tell.
theres some other parts i havent fully ironed out yet like where hawkfrost and mothwint come in.
as for the actual lake territories, they coexist with the forest territories by just being in different states LOL windclan and thunderclan's territory was pretty consistent in terms of The Basics so theyre mostly in the same general area (tc is east coast forests, wc is southwest-midwest prairies. theres a lot of cowboys, farmers, and ranchers in "windclan" as a result). shadowclan i can see being in the southern swamps, especially florida or louisiana, and riverclan is kinda interspersed alont the mississippi and ohio rivers. maybe a few along the east coast, too, as the lake territory equivalent. skyclan is probably in the rockies or the redwood forests out west. maybeeee old skyclan is in the appalachias???? idk LOL since the cats are so far apaer now the conflicts are a little less wide scale and more personal if rhat makes any sense at all. of course this whole au is a huge work in progress so some of what i say here may change!
the clans are rural/small/poor towns in my head. tight knit communities that have to rely on each other. kittypets are urban/suburbanites as a contrast and keep the 'kittypets r fucjing spoiled' theme going . you inow the city slicker junk LOL
bloodclan is probably a gang in new york. at least scourge's bloodclan. the other iterations are probably in other huge metropolitan cities. idk what warriorclan is, and the tribe is a whole can of worms im trying to be very careful with so im not gonna talk about them as a whole quite yet other than imply they exist

warm light seeps through the crack beneath the door, scattering across the carpet in the darkness of your room. the noise on the other side comes muffled, music from soonyoung’s shitty playlist (he had called dibs, this time) blurring together with the cacophony of voices outside. briefly, there’s a loud cheer that rings through the house; junhui must have won his first round of beer pong of the night, judging by the whoops that followed.
sat on the floor at the foot of your bed, you bring your knees closer to your chest, tucking your chin in as you try to block out the sound. it’s almost a feat, how you managed to get yourself in this position every single time.
last month, you had told yourself you would really do it this time, that you would stand your ground and tell jun no, you wouldn’t be at the party he was hosting the following friday, or maybe ‘host it somewhere else this time.’ but then he’d looked at you with pleading eyes, expectation shamelessly displayed across his face, and your resolve crumpled like wet tissue paper.
and now here you were, hiding in your room after managing to slip away from all the commotion. it was the closest to peace and quiet you would get, for the rest of the night.
(you should have just gone with wonwoo and jihoon when they offered. they’d even given you a poorly veiled pitying look before they left.)
jun probably doesn’t even notice, you think wryly, picking at a loose tuft from the carpet. you’re sure your absence is far from sorely missed, especially with all the company they had over, not to mention the extra buzz and energy that comes with the alcohol. it’s especially why jun’s insistence on your attendance never quite makes sense to you, even after all this time—not that it really mattered.
junhui would always ask. you would always say yes.
a knock on the door makes your head jolt up. scrambling to your feet, you call out at the unexpected intrusion, tepid hope latching onto your heart. did jun finally prove you wrong? “yes?”
“it’s me,” the voice says, the quiet tone somehow carrying through the door. “minghao.”
the hope disappears as fast as it came. ah.
squashing the embarrassment that comes after predictable disappointment, you walk to the door and turn the knob slowly, peeking out from behind the open sliver. your eyes try to adjust to the sudden light. “hi.”
a polite smile. “hey.”
a long silence stretches between the two of you, even with the noise still blasting from the living room. you shift onto another foot, playing with the doorknob as a nervous habit. “…what’s up?”
“i texted wonwoo, he said you might have some hangover medicine in your room.”
“oh, i think i do,” you contemplate, pursing your lips in thought. “let me check, though.”
you turn, only to hesitate by the doorway when you look back. minghao is still looking at you. the doorknob twists once. “do you, um,” you offer awkwardly, “want to come in?”
he shrugs. “sure.”
the hinge creaks slightly as he opens it further to enter, along with a quiet click as it closes shut. you flip on your desk lamp, filling the room with a soft glow. rifling through your desk drawers, you try to ignore the way he hovers somewhere a distance behind you, shoulders bunched to shrink away from the awkwardness.
it always feels like uncharted territory with minghao, like you’re treading on a lake thinly frozen over. you’ve known him for the whole year, ever since jun first introduced you to the rest of his friends, but you don’t even think you’ve spoken more than twenty words to him in that time.
you don’t know if it’s for the lack of trying (you’ve befriended the rest of jun’s group just fine), but there was something about minghao that stilted your ability to talk to him—not that he seemed particularly interested to bridge the gap either. you supposed it wasn’t anything you were fighting for; it was something comfortable you’d come to terms with long ago, this vague acquaintanceship you’ve let remain stagnant.
you were just never really sure what to say with him.
“oh, here,” you say, holding up a bottle of nausea pills. “did you want the painkillers too?”
minghao shakes his head. “no, that’s okay, just the nausea’s good.”
you squint at him, bottle rattling as you hand it over. “i thought you were d.d. tonight?”
“i am,” minghao replies, something exasperated coloring his features. “these are for the people in the car.”
ah, you mouth. “better than a trash bag for each person?”
his lips press into a thin line, stressed at just the thought. “we’re bringing the bags just in case. i am not cleaning puke out of my car this time.”
you let out a soft laugh at that. “at least soonyoung lives here. one less person you have to worry about.”
minghao sighs, looking down at the bottle. “i’m grateful for that every single day.”
“unfortunately, that just means his mess turns into my mess,” you joke, taking a seat on the floor. your arms wrap around your legs again, curled back up to your chest.
minghao tilts his head. “wonwoo and jihoon don’t help out when they get back?”
“well,” you rescind, “our mess. but they’re usually too tired when they come back to handle whatever happens before the sun rises.”
minghao huffs out a laugh. “at least there’s only one messy drunk living with you.”
“ha, at least.”
a beat of silence. music continues to play muffled from the living room, the sound of clattering cups and ping pongs bouncing off the wooden floor.
“it’s quiet in here,” minghao comments, looking around.
nodding, you give him a tentative smile. “yeah, surprisingly.”
another beat of silence. soonyoung gets hold of the karaoke mic and starts his singing domination till dawn—or until he passes out.
“how’s the party?” you ask, immediately cringing. small talk was never your strong suite.
“it’s good,” minghao nods absently. “standard. it doesn’t seem like you’re enjoying much of it, though.”
tensing, you look up at him. in the lowlight, your eyes try to adjust his frame into focus. you try to imagine what it would be like to look at him wholly in the light, to know what the parts of him covered by shadows looked like. the way his hair rested at the nape of his neck, the shade of his eyes, where the slopes of his features began and ended. could you ever really figure him out? would you ever really know?
“is that rhetorical?” you end up saying, after a brief pause.
“just an observation.”
“yeah, well.” your hand finds its way back to the carpet, picking at the loose tuft again. “there never really is much for me out there anyway.”
“you really think so?”
you give minghao a wry smile. “i think i’ve tried to deny it for too long to not think so.”
an expression flits across minghao’s face, too quick for you to see what it resembled in the dark, before he points to the spot next to you. “can i sit? i think i’d like some peace and quiet myself, too.”
befuddled, it suddenly dawns on you as you scooch over slightly to make room that this was the longest conversation you’ve ever had with minghao. you can’t even manage a verbal response in your surprise, settling for a jerky nod before he plops down next to you.
neither of you say anything after that, sitting quietly as the clock ticks by. you try glancing at him, but you whip your head away before he can notice. you really didn’t think it would ever get this far; maybe you should have said no—(stop, you silently rebuke yourself. that’s rude to even think about.)
“can i be honest?” you try instead, breaking the silence.
minghao turns his head to face you. “hm?”
you bite your lip, contemplating on how to phrase it. “i’m just kind of surprised. you know, that you wanted to stay.”
“at the party?”
“no, like…” you resist a sigh, forcing the words out thin and pressed. hell. “in my room. with me.”
“what?” he raises a quizzical brow. “why?”
“i don’t know,” you confess. it seems stupid when you say it out loud. “i thought you didn’t like me, or something.”
minghao pauses. “what’s there not to like?”
you bite your tongue, enough for it to hurt and taste the metal. “no, nevermind. forget i said anything.”
“no, seriously,” he insists, and it’s something you’ve never heard from minghao before. gentle, but firm, like he won’t let it go until you tell him the truth. “what’s there not to like?”
but you can’t tell him the truth; you can’t lie to him either. there isn’t much you know what to say, when it comes to anything you haven’t already specifically curated per occasion. maybe that was why it was so hard with minghao—you could never tell what he wanted you to be.
“everyone sees it, you know,” minghao continues. “how much you care. it’s why they like being around you. they all see you as a good friend.”
your gaze shifts to the ground, giving a dry smile as you curl further into yourself. you almost want to laugh. “everyone, huh?”
from a few familiar chords, you hear soonyoung starting his encore rendition of ‘don’t stop believing,’ with the extra tambourines and all. it almost does a good enough job of filling in the silence that hangs in the air, if only you couldn’t feel the hesitation from minghao before he speaks again.
“but you like him, right?”
“what?”
“jun. you like him.”
you whip your head towards him, eyes widening. “what?”
minghao has the decency to look at least somewhat apologetic about his bluntness, but it does nothing to quell your panic as you scramble to deny his accusation. except, the defense dies on your lips when you remember it’s not so much an accusation as it is a statement. you like jun. you know it, and he knows it too.
“how—how did you know?”
he gives you a borderline sheepish look. “it’s kind of hard not to tell.”
i seriously want to die, you moan internally, head falling back between your knees. “are you serious? is it just some open secret then?”
the ground might as well open and swallow you whole. maybe if you were lucky you’d walk outside and the zombie apocalypse would have started and you would never have to worry about this again—
“i think i’m the only one who knows, though.”
you stop. “oh.”
“yeah.”
“i thought you said it was obvious.”
“it is.”
something builds up in your chest, about to explode. “so why—”
“it is, when you know where to look.”
you open your mouth to say something in response, but you don’t even know where to start. all that really comes out is a little noise in the back of your throat, half of an objection that can’t even make its way past your lips before minghao continues.
“you’re not the only one that watches, you know.” your eyes flick to his, but once your eyes meet it feels more like he’s looking at you. like he’s latched onto you and you don’t know how to have him let go. minghao has your loose thread between his fingers, and he pulls gently. “maybe no one else notices, but we’ve been around each other long enough for me to see how you look at jun.”
your breath catches. “and how do i look at him?” (the question is less for minghao and more for yourself.)
“you’re the first one to see him arrive and the last to see him go.”
it’s strange. you never once thought you would ever end up in this position with minghao, much less tonight, where you had come into it determined to hide yourself away. and yet here you were, talking to him for what might as well be the first time with frayed edges and bared thread.
“what,” you try to deflect, a strained smile pulling at the corners of your lips. “a friend can’t do that?”
minghao gives you a pointed look, almost exasperated, as if waiting for that thread to finish pulling loose. “i think we both know friends don’t look at each other like that.”
you don’t think you have minghao figured out (your only solace is that you don’t think he has you totally figured out either), but he’s coming into focus for you, little by little. it’s why you allow that final stitch to unravel, loose thread pooling at your feet. “just me though, right? he, on the other hand, looks at me like a friend just fine.”
he hums. “you think so?”
you breathe out a short laugh, too realistic to be anything but bitter. “why else do you think jun asked me to live with a bunch of other guys? there’s no way he could think of me as anything more than a friend after that.”
there’s a pause, the type you’ve learned during the course of this night that means you need to prepare for what minghao’s about to say next. “then why’d you say yes?”
poignant. hard-hitting. you still don’t really know what to say in response when he asks you questions like these. there isn’t really much you can tell him either, not without sounding pathetic.
(junhui would ask. you would always say yes. you recognize the weight of this more than anyone.)
and as self-aware as you are, you also know that you just can’t say no to jun. not when you’ve loved him ever since he’d gotten all scratched up trying to feed the little kittens hiding in the schoolyard bushes back when you were 14, not when you’ve been with him through it all—the fake sick-days, the last-minute cram sessions the morning before a test, the time you’d opened the door on a sunday evening and he’d stood there mud-covered and scrape-kneed holding out a single four-leaf clover to you. because you had said you’d wanted it, because he wanted to be a reason for your good luck.
yet time passes and it stops for no one, and while jun has taken it in full stride, friendly and magnetic to everyone he chances upon, the same cannot be said for you. no matter how hard he tries to drag you along to every occasion, you realize it will always be just that—his hand tugging you along, you will always be watching him from behind.
“he’s my friend.” it echoes empty. you’re sure minghao can hear it too. “nothing can really change that.”
no steps forward and no steps back, you’re stuck in this liminal space, trapped in the memory of being that girl who cried for hours after she accidentally stepped on a snail on a rainy day, the girl who wanted that four-leaf clover because she was scared to go to a school without jun there next to her.
sometimes, you wonder if jun knows how you feel about these types of things and he tries to drag you along with it anyway. maybe it’s his silly idea of exposure therapy, that if he brings you to enough of these events and introduces you to enough new people that you’ll finally grow and change with him. but you’re not really changing, you’re just trying—for jun, who still doesn’t realize the smile you give him every time you say ‘yes’ is pressed and designed specifically to make him happy.
but minghao looks at you, really looks at you, and asks, “but you want it to? change, i mean.”
you draw in a short breath, quiet. “i don’t know.”
“then…” his eyes shine, distinct in the lowlight. “do you want to change?”
gnawing on your bottom lip, you rip your gaze away, staring back to the floor. you’ve thought about it over and over, especially on nights where you’ve hidden yourself away. a part of you wants to keep being that person, the one you know that jun will keep coming back to. it’s familiar, it’s what he knows, and there’s a security in that, for both you and him. you know what it means to change, to not necessarily be the person that falls into step with jun—and as much as you’ve wanted to be that for as long as you can remember, you want to start moving past that, even if it means you’ll grow into a person jun won’t recognize anymore.
“maybe,” you say finally, like defeat in the admittance. “i think i’m just tired.”
there’s a brief moment of silence, one where the weight of your answer rests heavy. minghao opens his mouth to say something else, but before he can, seokmin’s loud voice bounces through the house, resonating.
“myunghooo where are you…! let’s go hoooome!”
minghao gives you an apologetic smile instead, shuffling to his feet. “i’m sorry, i think that’s my cue to go.”
“ah, no, you’re good,” you respond hurriedly, standing up after him and rushing to the door to open it for him. “i’m sure i’ve kept you here long enough.”
“hey,” he says, right as you twist the doorknob. there’s a gentle reminder in his gaze. “i wanted to stay.”
something lodges in your throat, something you’re not sure how to even verbalize, but you’re saved by another holler.
“myuuuunghoooooo!”
“coming!” minghao calls out, before turning to you. “i’ll see you later, okay?”
yeah, you mean to say, but the word gets caught between breath and speech as you look at him go. with the door open, the bright hallway light scatters throughout your entire room, the warm light from your desk lamp and the hallway blurring together into one; and yet, minghao comes into focus, all at once.
“minghao,” you interrupt, right as he steps foot out the doorway. he looks back at you, curious. “thank you,” you wring your fingers together. “for listening to me.”
minghao smiles, a slight quirk of his lips. “of course.”
as you watch him turn around, you think that this is the end of it, but then he pauses, for just another second. you blink, waiting.
“whether you choose to or not,” he says, and your mind flashes back to your previous conversation. if you want to change, if you truly want to let go of jun. “i’ll always be here, if you need anyone to listen.”
after the night has come to a close, when you’ve finished cleaning up the house and everyone has gone to bed, your mind swims with the memory of his words, the echo of the conversation still rushes in your ears.
and you think you might just hold him to that.

Have some very yummy tasty designs for a WC AU me and my friend made together and are now making a MAP for.
Au below cut
the AU is one where BrambleStar is more manipulative and self-instrested, and Squirrelflight and Tawnypelt are a lot closer because of the time they spent on the journey together.
The journey ends, they make it to the lake, Bramble shows a few red flags but Squilf just brushes them off. Eventually Bramble does kill firestar, but then turns it aorudn and blames the whole thing on Hawk. Nobody believing that a guy as good as Bramble would do that. As soon as he becomes leader and has complete control he starts becoming physically abusive towards squilf.
Eventually she’s had enough of his shit and tells Bramble that this is it- it’s cat divorce time. Bramble does NOT like that and injures her badly enough that she’s confined to the medicine den. As soon as TawnyPelt gets word of this she makes the trip to Thunderclan to support her friend. The two of them talk and realize Bramble will keep doing this to Squilf as long as she’s still alive. So, Tawny and Squilf decide, BrambleStar has to die.
Squirrelflight lures Bramble into an empty part of the territory far from the border at night where tawny is waiting. They ambush him and together are able to kill him. They drag the body to some cliffs and toss it into the lake so he can’t be found. Then pretty much Squirrelflight becomes leader and Tawny decided to stay in Thunderclan to support her.
Then from there wether or not Tawny and Squilf are gay or just close friends is entirely up to you. Idrm either way :3

note: epilogue to the forget series
summary: let’s see what’s in store for Nico and y/n
warning: fluff
wc: 1.1K
“Do you think I'm crazy?” Nico asks his older brother, Luca as they skate around the small rink they used to frequent as kids. “It’s only been a year.”
“I think you’re crazy for her.” Luca nods as they both stop by the bench to get a drink of water. “Mama’s excited.”
“I know.” Nico laughs. “She’s almost told y/n three different times since we got here.” He thinks back to the night the two of you arrived. You were both jet lagged and all he had wanted to do was say hello to his parents before making your way into the bedroom. You had greeted his parents warmly and sat down to talk with them even though you wanted to go to bed yourself. He loved how well you fit in with his family.
“You’ve had the ring for months now.” Luca picks at the tape job on his stick as he talks to Nico. “Why are you waiting until tomorrow?”
Nico bites his lip. He’s always told his brother everything, but the fact that tomorrow is the one year anniversary of the two of you saying ‘I love you’ for the first time seems too personal. “It’s special to us.” He responds diplomatically.
The next morning, he wakes up with you laying practically on top of him. Your head is resting on his right pec, your arm loosely around his waist and your right leg is thrown over both of his, effectively giving him morning wood. He kisses the top of your head and watches you sleep for a few moments.
Sensing he’s awake, you start to stir, popping one eye open to look at him. “Hi.” You mumble before closing your eye and snuggling back into his chest.
He puts his arms around you to hold you tightly. “Hi, my love.” He chuckles and kisses your head again. “Good morning.”
“Five more minutes.” You plead as he runs a hand up and down your side, getting dangerously close to tickling territory.
“Ich will, dass du meine Frau wirst. Heirate mich?” He says it quickly, knowing that your German is a lot better than it was a year ago.
You pick your head up and stare at him. “You want me to do what?”
“We need to get up so we can go.” He takes the opportunity to press his lips against yours before sliding out from underneath you.
You flop back down on the bed and wrap the blankets tighter around yourself. “Nico, the lake will be there tomorrow. Can’t we stay in bed and cuddle?” You pout at him and he has to look away from you before he gives in. There’s nothing he loves more than holding you, especially when you’re in a cuddly mood like this. But he’s got plans for you today.
“C’mon, baby.” He grabs your hand and gives it a tug. “I want to go today.”
“You should've thought about that last night when you were fucking me.” You huff. “I don’t think I can walk right now.”
He can’t help the satisfied smirk that appears on his face as he thinks back to last night and all the sounds you made. “You screaming my name didn’t exactly seem like you wanted me to stop.” He laughs.
You sit up quickly, your face beat red. “I didn’t scream, did I? Oh, god, what if your parents heard us?” You cover your face with your hands. “I can’t leave this room ever again.”
“Y/n, they sleep on the other side of the house. They probably didn't hear anything.” You don’t look convinced so he adds, “If we hurry up we can leave before they get up.”
He bites his lip to keep in a laugh as you spring off the bed and run for the shower. He joins you, helping you wash your hair and your back before kissing every mark he left on your body last night. “I thought you were eager to go?” You question as he keeps you in the shower much longer than you need to be.
“I am.” You both get out and get ready. He slips the ring box into his pocket while you’re getting dressed and then sits on the end of the bed to wait for you.
The nerves he’s expecting never come. Instead, he’s filled with a sense of contentment and calmness as he drives the two of you to Lake Lucerne.
“I have something to ask you.” You say once the two of you have been in the car for a while. You look a little nervous as you play with your fingers.
Nico’s had a smile on his face since he woke up and he can’t seem to get rid of it even as he waits for you to continue. “What is it?”
“I want to get my IUD removed.” You bite your lip as you look at him.
Nico furrows his brows, wondering where the question is. “Okay. It’s your choice, baby. It’s your body.” He’s gotten used to having sex without a condom but it’s not a big deal if he has to wear one again.
“No…I want-” You tug on your hair as you try to verbalize what you want. Nico reaches over and squeezes your thigh. “I’m ready to try for a baby.”
Nico almost slams on the breaks as he pulls into the parking area. “You’re sure?”
“Yes.” You nod. “If you are. I have to schedule the removal and I probably won't get pregnant right away…”
Nico’s leaving over the center console and kissing you as soon as the car is in park. “Yes.” He kisses you over and over until you’re both out of breath. “Yes I want to have babies with you. Are you sure you’re ready”
You nod and take his hands in yours. “Yeah, you asking me to marry you this morning really solidified my decision.”
Nico’s face goes slack as he processes what you just said. “You understood me?”
“I’ve been practicing my wedding vows in my German lessons for months.” You tell him. “Did you think I wouldn’t recognize the word wife?”
“I love you.” He smiles and kisses you, too in love with you to be sad that his plan is ruined. “Do you want to see the ring?”
“Yes.” You clap your hands together excitedly as he pulls the ring box out of his pocket and opens it for you.
“It’s perfect.” You beam as he places it on your finger.
“This isn’t what I planned.” He tells you once you’re both out of the car. He holds you close to his side as you both walk toward the lake.
“That’s okay.” You smile up at your fiance. “I’m always going to remember this day.”

I'm actually questioning wc kin myself as well even if I say I'm wchearted for now! I guess because warrior cats are so different than domestic cats and stuff cause they have their own culture and everything and because I'm a psychological kin, I don't get past life memories and I don't get phantom limbs so I really only rely on noema and envisage shifts
I've seen a few warrior cat kins on reddit as well as two others on tumblr who have a hearthome for wc territories!
Do you have any memories or noema pertaining to being a warrior cat?
So I am actually a psychological alterhuman as well. And for me I believe a lot of my identity stems from both my neurodivergancy and trauma. I read the books during some of the worst points in my life as a form of escapism. And they've always held a very near and dear place in my heart.
The lake territories kinda hit different for me. Yes, I love the forest territories and they will always be special to me. But the lake territories just kind of click in my brain. Especially the Moonpool.
During my questioning it's been difficult to not just pick my favorite Clan, being ShadowClan. Instead I have found myself resonating with WindClan and their culture. Along with medicine cats feeling more akin to myself over warriors. And though it took me a bit, finding my appearance and name was only a matter of time. Being a long haired black rosette tabby called Mothsun. And I suppose to some degree that's noema, for it just came to me in time. I hope this answered your question.
