Your eyes were full of adoration as you watched your boyfriend talk.

His dark eyes were trailed to your intertwined hands as he rambled about a new hero whom he admired. He had been talking for well over twenty minutes, and you silently prayed he would keep talking for eternity.

His low voice was filled with more emotion than you've heard before. He talked with passion and excitement, his anxiety long gone as he talked. His eyes shined with joy, and his pink lips were pulled into a small smile.

You couldn't help but get lost in his perfection, his words slowly blurring into the background. You itched to stroke his cheek, but held back, not wanting to ruin this perfect moment.

 When Ran opens his eyes, the first thing that he notices is that the small body that usually kicks his ribs at night, is not by his side. On the other hand, it’s Sunday, so he can’t help but wonder why is he awake so early. 

(The sweet smell that comes from the kitchen answers all his questions).

The floor is too cold to stand barefoot. Little steps and cute laughs can be heard while he walks down the corridor. He truly doesn’t care that his feet feel cold because his heart is the warmest it has ever been. 

He still remembers the moment he came to see their house. 

They wanted to settle down. She had insisted a lot on having a nice kitchen when they were searching a house. He didn’t understand why. He thought the most important thing when buying a place was the bed. She just laughed.

“Silly. Life happens in the kitchen. You’ll see it with your own eyes”.

And while looking at his daughter’s braids full of flour and his wife’s small bump under her pajama’s shirt, realization finally hits him.

iwaizumi had never enjoyed tuesday. tuesdays filled his schedule with monotonous highschool classes, and they usually drove late into the evening. tuesdays didn’t give him time to play volleyball or enjoy a cold drink by the local store. tuesdays were stressful. unchanging. unenjoyable. they never quite seemed to go by fast enough, either, always dragging out, holding onto him as if begging him to stay in the pattern.

and yet, one gruesomely long tuesday you stepped into the class, a nervous smile on display when you introduced yourself. iwaizumi didn’t really care for new students, not even if they were bearers of beauty only comparable to that of an angel. no, iwaizumi knew that looks didn’t matter, not if your personality was stuck up, or mean. fact of the matter was, you didn’t seem like it. another fact was that you were currently assigned to sit next to him.
