Of all the things that are under explored about drifting in the original Pacific Rim (and EVERYTHING is under explored) the things that drives me most bananas is when Pentecost shows up as Herc's replacement jaeger pilot and Chuck is like, "this is not going to work. We are not drift compatible" and Pentecost says "don't worry about it, I'll make us drift compatible because I WILL BRING NOTHING INTO THE DRIFT NO THOUGHTS NO MEMORIES"

Howdy, I think you might be making an ekurei shipper out of me XD I never really thought about them much but I'm really resonating with these posts. Not only that but I'm realizing that its so up my alley because I love love love like, unusual fantasy situations where characters experience intamacy in unconventional ways, something I feel like I don'tfind very often outside of my own and my friends' writing in our own lil corner. Like woah...the romantic potential of possession, being closer to your partner than humanley possible...imagine how humbling it would be to realized you are loved and trusted enough to be invited to share your partner's mind and body as an act of love instead just using that ability against strangers to your own ends...[cries a little] Who even needs that dang guard. Maybe I'm so enraptured with this stuff cause I'm ace, lol

Yeah yeah yeah that's it exactly!! The potential for sff to create types of intimacy that wouldn't be possible in real life is a huge part of its appeal! I've seen people compare Dimple possessing Reigen to Steven Universe fusion and I've compared it to drift compatibility myself and both of these things are very tasty, but for me it hits even harder because for them the intimacy is a choice, not a natural byproduct or an intentional prerequisite. Like, it's one thing for a sff setting to make an unconventional form of intimacy part of its worldbuilding like SU and PacRim do, but it's another thing entirely when it isn't an established part of the worldbuilding but something that the characters figure out on their own!

Like you said, for most of his existence Dimple has used possession as a tactic of violation and control. That's what you do when you're an evil spirit! It represents where he is at the beginning of the series; his view is that relationships are about who has the most power and who has the least, and if you have more you're going to use it to manipulate and subsume anyone less powerful than you. And then he starts changing! And by Season 2 he's using possession as a form of protection, not for himself but for Mob. Even when he possesses people without permission (Shinra and that one bully), he's not doing it to help himself! He does it to Shinra to get him out of danger (and says, notably, that if he let Shinra die then Mob would never trust him again), and he does it to the bully to protect Mob (and he stops when Mob says to!). And then in Mogami Arc we get the first instance of Dimple possessing someone because they explicitly asked him to, where he protects Mob's body while his soul isn't in it. Possession not only as protection but as trust! And you can tell from his reaction that this is something that Dimple has never considered before! And you can tell from how shocked he is during World Domination (manga) when he's able to possess an unconscious Mob that he especially never considered that trust like that could be an ongoing thing!

The point is, by the time Dimple meets Reigen in the middle of a psychic tornado, his concept of what possession can be has already undergone some major changes due to his friendship with Mob. But there's never been anything like what he and Reigen are able to do. There's been trust, there's been protection, but there's only ever been one consciousness in a body at a time. There's been vulnerability of body but not vulnerability of mind.

And it would have been easy for Dimple to push Reigen's consciousness down until they got to Shigeo. That's another thing that gets me; there's no reason that they had to both be awake on a technical level. But on a thematic level it is Everything to me that they're able to achieve a state that we've never seen before, that I bet if you'd asked them before this happened they both would have said was impossible, that is dependent on complete vulnerability and openness from two characters who will fight tooth and nail to prevent anyone else from seeing who they really are. It's about their shared familial love for their boy and it's about how much they understand each other in that moment.

And, like, I'm also ace, and generally not much of a shipper, and I tend to care a lot about group dynamics and platonic bonds, and I think that part of the appeal of ekurei bodysharing stuff is that even if you write about it in the most romantic way, you have to remember that the first time they did this it happened because of their shared platonic love for their kid so to me it feels just. Infused with all the different types of love and connection that the show is built on. Sometimes when someone focuses on a romantic relationship it gets deified in a way that undersells all the other bonds the character has, but for me at least romantic ekurei only works because of their other connections.

They say life is an adventure, maybe it is. I’ve sailed through oceans of tears, mountains of failed love letters, and yet it does not end. Where and when will my adventure stop?

“Y/N, why do you write such sappy literature?” You could only look at your friend, with such curiosity in her eyes, you wonder if she’s like the Cheshire cat. Sometimes leaving the question of whether or not she’s real or just an illusion you made in your head.

“It’s not sappy literature, it’s my journal, you fuck.” You could only look at her with judgemental eyes, immediately covering your journal so she won't be able to read anything else.

¨Whatever you say, I´m just stating it as it is.¨ It's not like you don't appreciate the thought of her correcting you but it was your own thoughts and opinions. Looking back at it, ok maybe it was a bit sappy. You won’t admit it though.

¨But do you actually think that life is an adventure?¨ Somi looked at you with curiosity, the way her eyes sparkled, is she leading you on or is she genuinely asking you a question. You could never understand your cheshire-like friend.

Maybe it is an adventure, where you don’t actually know where you’re going but it’s the journey that counts, right? Never really got the grasp of what adventure actually is until I started writing my thoughts on this small journal. Forgive me, whoever is reading this, but I may go off track sometimes.

Where did my adventure start? Probably that one time I cried my eyeballs out for a princess who supposedly was my best friend then turned crush rejected me.

You never really ended up being friends again with Chaewon after that, she now goes by her nickname, Gowon. A pretty girl, a great friend, yet you two were young when it happened not being familiar with these whole feelings thing. Ending up with drifting apart rather than being together per say.

Feelings were already complicated as a child who could not easily express it. Gowon ended up being popular in her classes, everyone looked at her with so much love and adoration, you had to admit that you say her in that way as well. The way she rejected you is still vivid, how she held your hands, looking directly in your eyes, and just saying;

“No.”

“What?”

“Y/N, you’re really nice and pretty but I don’t think we’re compatible enough to be together.”

Soulmates and compatibility was what drifted us apart, we were the complete opposites. I wonder how well we managed to remain friends when we could never agree on anything. Slowly, the ocean of tears started to well up. The beloved princess ended up with another princess, happily together from what I have gathered. Alas, I was never her knight in shining armor, let alone the princess to capture her heart.

“Y/N, are you still writing on that thing?” You could only smile as Isa tried to take it from your hands. Nodding to her question, you more so loved this journal more than your own life. 

“You’ve had that since what? High school? And we’re in college now.”

“Oh come on, I rarely write on this thing anymore. It’s a nice way to look back, see where I started.”

Isa could only sigh and agree. She has a journal of her own where she writes her secrets, but you managed to write literature. Taking it as a major and writing every thought that pops up.

I’ve reached the mountains of failed love letters, literary works, and failed relationships. A crumpled letter at the foot of the mountain, containing the one that never reached in time. Opening it may bring up the what ifs, how it could have been, and why I never took the chance.

Yunjin was a dream of yours that you could never achieve, maybe it was because she was a well known opera singer in your batch, but somehow ending up in front of her with a letter. You just missed it. Lost the chance. People had mentioned if you were only early, a beat faster, you could have made it. There you were in the midst of the crowd, watching Yunjin shine on stage, and looking at someone directly in the crowd. You almost missed it, the way her eyes shined at that person, oh how were dumb enough to actually make a move.

Yunjin’s heart already belonged to another.

Past the mountains of failed literature, was where I met the birds of time. Was there a place to call home? I can never remember what home actually was. Finally reaching a stop, right next to the birds of time where they can give me a chance. I reflected on my journey.

I’ve fallen for a princess, and an opera singer. I’ve battled many, breaking their hearts and minds to which I regret. I’ve wandered across the deep dark ocean and the mountaintop. 

Tell me, reader, have I reached my final destination? Alone next to the birds of time?

“Sweetie! Have you seen my journal?” You were frantically looking for that old piece of literature, the inspiration for many of your old works. Nowhere in your grasp, it usually is at your office.

Turning the corner, to the other office in your house. There you saw your significant other, holding an old emerald green journal, it’s been through a lot. With such curious eyes, she kept on reading it. Close to the ending, where the adventure ends. Watching as she turned each page, smiling at some of it.

I might have reached the end of my travels, not next to the bird of time, no. They guided me to where I must go, home. Within my travels, I’ve met a lovely adventurer as well, she went through so much torment that she had armour upon armour on her. Only for it to be removed, once I’ve gotten to know her.

She’s a beauty, a lovely woman. My, if I had only realized these emotions early on my travels, my adventure would have easily come to an end. A queen on her own, she wasn’t looking for a king or a knight in shining armour, oh, she fell for an adventurer, a common folk, me.

Okay, shall we go into details of the Cockles astrology. My wife has a degree in Astrology, she has told me the basics of Jensen and Misha's compatibility charts and seperate charts.

Jensen and Misha's chart is not their whole personality and who they are, it doesn't run their lives and is only a certain amount to understanding to a person. We know many people who have opposite compatibilities and are completely happy with their marriage / relationships.

Jensen and Misha compatibility with how they connect most is through deep interactions of their friendship, they think alike, they understand each other's problems and have deep respect for one another. Like every friendship they are glue. This is how most people are aware of their insights first, friendships can become the begining of something if desired on both sides.

Now for their Romance, this requires effort from both sides but isn't challenging. The close Personal Bond (friendship) these two share creates lot of insight into this, that helps the romance blossom.

They both have high indipendance traits, spending time apart can make the heart grow fonder and create special occasions more intimate.

They are very impulsive people who like to explore, they both have an adventurous spirit and can be surprised by one another, but any unexpexted surprises can create a drift.

I love the High Republic Jedi

I really need to talk about the Jedi in The High Republic because damn I can’t stop thinking about them and the contrast with the Jedi Order we know during the prequels.

I’ll try to keep this as spoiler-free (and coherent) as possible, but the central three books of Phase One of The High Republic follow the events of three ‘disasters’ that the Jedi try to assist with. It’s also a time when the Republic is expanding into the Outer Rim, and when unity is the calling card of this movement. And the Jedi respond to each of these disasters by working together – I know that sounds pretty basic written like that, but these books cover several perspectives as they come up with plan after plan to help save lives, however they can, pushing the limits of the Force together to achieve their goals.

But the Order isn’t just one monolith of thought; the series explores perspectives that we largely don’t see in the mainstream content around the Prequel Era – from newly-made Council members struggling with Coruscant priorities versus the realities of the Outer Rim, to Padawans who just want to study the galaxy, or who have to learn under new Masters when their previous one dies. New Jedi Knights who are given Padawans they’re not ready for. Jedi who question the close relationship with the Republic. Jedi who struggle with grief but don’t go on a genocidal rampage to deal with it. Jedi who go on soul-searching journeys after using the Dark Side to save lives.

It explores how Jedi interpret the Force through different lenses; some understand it as music, some visualise it as a vast ocean, some like a vast constellation of stars. How these lenses help them explore new abilities, but also how they need to look beyond that to overcome their weaknesses.

Then there are whole areas and disciplines that no longer exist in the Prequel Era – the autonomy of Jedi temples far away from the Core and the Jedi Council, raising Jedi that may never even see Coruscant. Jedi who disagree with the direction of the Council, or the Order, and strike out on their own, but remain Jedi. Wayseekers, who follow the direction of the Force above all else. Mediative retreats that can last whole lifetimes, like the Barash Vow. Shit, Yoda goes on fucking sabbatical!

And then there’s the crazy stuff that a lot of Disney Star Wars could never do. The Jedi to ex-Jedi mercenary mindmeld/ drift compatible moment that allows them to tame two dragons to ride into battle. The ancient creature capable of cutting Force Sensitives off from the Force and husking them. Yoda had a non-binary Padawan who left the Order for a hot boy they met at the circus. Autistic Jedi. Asexual Jedi. SO MANY LESBIANS.

But at the core of it all is teamwork and compassion. Even as threats escalate throughout the story, the Jedi retain their respect for life throughout, and avoid taking it where they can, mourning it when they do. And as more lives are lost and Jedi are traumatised by the events they see, they actually address this trauma and how it might affect a Jedi’s ability to keep to the Code. There are no chosen ones or super powerful Jedi that save the day; everyone pitches in what they can to help the greater effort. And its this that inspires unity within the Republic – selfless compassion for any stranger who needs them, who act together to achieve the impossible.

I don’t know if this even makes any sense but I love the High Republic Jedi so much and I absolutely recommend the series to everyone, but especially to people who only know the Jedi through Obi-Wan and Anakin and Ahsoka because it is so much more than that.

And I just know, in my heart, that if Yoda had announced to them that they had no other choice but to split up and become Generals to battalions of slave soldiers who were going to be slaughtered in their millions under the direction of an increasing corrupt Senate, they would have put him in a retirement home so fast and there wouldn’t have been a Clone War.

in training sessions it's clear as day mick is drift compatible with seb that's the *vibe* right? everyone looking at them goes yeah, they could pilot together. except seb refuses to acknowledge any of this and brushes off mick's thinly veiled requests to pilot together

mick... refuses to take this lying down, submits a formal request for them to have a sync test together, which seb is unable to refuse because he has no good reason to. their sync score is--

ridiculous. it comes closer to the threshold than anyone before, any closer they'd be at 100% which is impossible, you can't have a sync score of 100% because you're talking about two people. even twins don't have that sync score.

seb is obviously in shambles over it. it's higher than the score he achieved with michael, which at the time they were still piloting together was in the top five highest the ppdc had ever seen. seb's boss (mark webber, i make mark seb's direct officer in pacific rim aus that's just what i do, see down in the depths) is like hey what gives, seb? we need drift compatible pilots. why won't you do this? it's not like you to shy away from responsibility--

responsibility? seb hisses. i have a responsibility to michael. i have a responsibility to the safety of his son--

except mick is furious and doubly hurt that even after a sync test that leaves no room for argument, seb still refuses to pilot with him, and it all comes to a head in this (where brilliant pacific rim au anon has given us this wonderful story!)

Developing Environment concept.

As a team, we decided on the Dragon concept for this project. However, there are elements of the other concept ideas we would like to incorporate, allowing us to get the most out of our combined skills and time constraints. Specifically, the Submarine concept’s combination of 2D and 3D elements, to enforce depth and enhance texture is an element that would ideally be used within our final design. Considering this I sketched some environment designs to present to the team so we may decide what atmosphere and thematic to underpin our concept. I want to decide on this theme through the environment as the 2D background will be the largest element of this project that the audience will see and be surrounded by. Once the environment is chosen then the foreground can be designed to match. As a team, we agreed to continue with the East Asian components but were undecided on the type of stylisation to proceed with. So, within the environment sketch, I wanted to depict a few options we could consider for the final 2D background. I am aware that we have no true concept, of what to dome will look like at this stage but have been advised to come quite close to the floor. Although the audience will be positioned to avoid obstructing any of the images, I have ensured none of the details of subjects in my environment designs go to the floor, to minimise the effect of any interference.

I designed all the following environments to act as a sample of what would be created all around the dome. We would use whichever of the following concepts are chosen for this project as a guide to style, assets, and theme.

Environment: Midnight Lakes.

This environment concept displays a foggy scene of buildings lit up from within standing at the foot of silhouetted mountains. This is the most heavily inspired by the original stimuli of this project: Blue-Eyed Samurai (2023). I chose a clean illustrative style for this concept to achieve a simplistic yet hazy depiction of the scene allowing for small non-realistic detailing in the clouds that add a fantastical essence to the image. The fog on the ground could be animated to billow and swirl with similarly stylised curls as the clouds when buffeted by the dragon's wings. I really love the ability of lighting within this concept as the moon would add a lustre to 3D objects and enhance the effect of shadows as the dragon flies over the dome. Additionally, a small amount of 2D animation could be used to make the clouds drift slowly around the dome during the scene, which would reduce the stiffness of a 2D-painted environment.

Environment: Cherry Blossom.

For this concept, I wanted to experiment with the East Asian ink-wash painting style. With soft inky mountains and strong charcoal-like cherry trees on a light beige sky. The foreground of this concept would be a heaped bank of fallen flowers in the same inky theme that could move and settle during the scene. The cherry blossoms themselves would be vibrantly saturated to contrast the greys of the mountains and tree trunks creating a whimsical scene. I love the effect of falling petals that could continuously drift from the tree’s branches. Additionally, these petals could be whipped up into the sky by the beating of the dragon's wings and fall back in a magenta rain over the dome. Despite the simple beauty of this scene, if we were to use a 3D dragon it could be hard to blend the character into this scene. The soft washed-out style may not be compatible with the strong harsh lines and contrast of a 3D model.

Environment: Snowy Mountains.

I really like the colour pallet of this concept and its harsh tranquillity. The ability of a whistling wind soundscape would add a lot of dimensions to this icy environment while the painterly semi-realistic style would lend itself to the incorporation of 3D without losing the fanciful thematic stylised texturing adds to the image. Although appearing bare, the addition of snow particles effects to rain down on the dome throughout the scene; and the animation of an icy mist would make for a dramatic backdrop to the dragon’s flight. If I were to continue with this design, I would probably add a building or sculpture as a point of interest within the scene.

Environment: Bamboo Forest.

This concept Would really allow us to enhance a sense of depth to our immersive experience. The layers of bamboo receding into mist would allow us to use 3D models for the foremost staffs and then integrate them with the 2D background so the dragon can wind and fly between them enhancing the effect. Additionally in the foreground is a mess of foliage and vines that creep up the base of the bamboo that could be animated to grow and writhe as if alive. This concept would also be the most effective in manipulating the shape of the dome as the long vertical lines disguise the curved roof, ending in a small circle of sky at the apex seemingly far-far-away. Small glowing particles or bugs could drift lazily by during the scene and be wafted by the dragon’s flight. This I believe would be the most effective concept but the final decision will be made as a team.

In celebration of my apparent need to hop back onto the AoT PacRim AU bandwagon, I’ve decided to put together a list of the Jaegers from my fic-verse. 

The Current Jaegers are the ones that are operative at the time of the fic. The Retired Jaegers are the ones no longer in use, due to damage or the Pilots dying. The Jaegers that are In-Construction are the ones that we could see in later fics. 

In the PacRim-verse, there are two pilots to a Jaeger, and they are incharge of a majority of one hemisphere in the Jaeger’s ‘brain’. The Pilot of the Left hemisphere is known as the more ‘in command’ of the two pilots. Listed below are the Pilots with each Jaeger, and the first pilot listed in the one in control of the left hemisphere.

Below I’m going to list some traits/headcanons of the Jaeger’s, and I’m putting them under the cut because this could get lengthy - especially for those who don’t want this. So for those who enjoy my offering to the Tumblr Void, here -

Freedom Scout (rebuilt version) 

Overall Achiever. These guys get’s shit done, by any and all means.

Hange is the Pilot, and Levi is their co. Honestly they weren’t drift compatible in training, but as time went on things changed. 

They both actually work very well together. 

Scout is a very sleek Jaeger, good for maneuverability and fast attacks. Quick. Clean. Just like Levi likes. And Hange lets him because he let’s Hange be messy every once in a while. Vary rare once-in-a-while’s. 

Warrior Titan

Yeah yeah yeah I’m very shameless with the naming of this Jaeger. 

It’s only natural that Reiner and Bert get a Jaeger together, considering out of all the canon-verse characters they do get along best. 

Their Jaeger is very durable. Mainly defencing offence, and keeping Kaiju’s at bay rather than efficiently fighting them. If it’s a higher-level Kaiju, they’d be deployed to wear it down and they’d do that easily. 

It’s an Armoured Jaeger, guys. That’s all I’m trying to say. 

Eagle Eye

Miche and Nanaba are currently on Maternity Leave in the fic-verse. 

A side-effect of the neural handshake needed to pilot a Jaeger, both pilots can get a thing called ‘ghost drifting’. Miche get’s it all. The. Time. Especially when Nana is going through her blood-filled monthlies.  

You can only guess how haywire it is rn. 

They’re Jaeger is very tactical, and it is one of the Marshall’s favourites for this reason. 

They’re not afraid to back down from a fight and ask for help. They prefer keeping things easy rather than taking risks.  

Saint Wrath

Jaeger’s piloted by three people are very rare, even in the pacrim-verse. But they do exist. 

Usually there’s a reason behind that - an extra limb (See: Crimson Typhoon) or some sort of more advanced weaponry (See: Titan Redeemer) - and in this case it’s just because it’s so fucking big. 

Like it’s called a Saint cause those Kaiju’s better start praying, ya know? 

Armin focuses on where to move the damn thing and how to do it and Eren and Mikasa just get it done. Like, two Braincells, and Armin has half of each. 

Eventually, Jean replaces Eren. 

Servo Niner

It’s a small Jaeger but good grief does it bring forth the chaos. 

Like think of a chainsaw, a crocodile, the feeling you get late at night, and whatever red thing was in ‘Crimson Peak’ all in a room together and you’re about halfway close to thinking of what Sasha and Connie do to the Kaiju’s. 

It looks like a Jaw Titan. But big enough to fight a Kaiju. 

You can hear them playing ‘MIC Drop’ by BTS as they slaughter the children of the Precursors. 

Like lemme in on that action guys, you make it look so fun. 

Freedom Scout (OG)

Before Erwin lost his arm, he Piloted this Jaeger with Levi as his co. 

Having both been in a Jaeger before they were rather experienced. 

Levi trusted Erwin quicker than he did Hange from their training days, hence why they piloted together sooner too. 

But then there was a Kaiju, and the Jaeger took heavy damage, Erwin lost his arm, and the rest is history. 

Blue Kiss

Levi, Furlan and Isabel piloted the first three-pilot Jaeger, in the fic-verse, and most of the reason behind that was because they’re so inseparable. 

They entered training as a trio of childhood friends, and exited as legends in the making.

Furlan and Isabel died with that legend marked on their graves, while Levi was the one left behind. 

The Jaeger was more of a prototype than a real-deal Jaeger, which is why it didn’t last very long or rake up many kills before it was bested by a Kaiju. 

Rebel Riot

Kenny and Kuchel were two of a three-person trial run. Their cousin was not chosen to complete the trial runs and was sent home. The trials were then known as a two-person trial run. 

The two didn’t really get along, or agree, but they often compromised with what they had to do in order to get the jobs done. 

They were very deadly. However, due to the side-effects of the ‘trial run’s’, Kuchel had a blackout while piloting, and the event caused Kenny to have to pilot alone. 

They didn’t pilot again. 

Bone Breaker

This Jaeger was one of the first produced, however sat stagnet until Erwin and his co-pilot Maria came along. 

During a fight with a higher-level Kaiju, this Jaeger and another piloted by Maria’s sisters - Rose and Sina - was damaged beyond repair. Maria died, while Rose and Sina didn’t want to ever pilot again. 

Erwin was determined to not let Maria’s sacrifice go to waste, and after a couple months he decided to look for a new co-pilot. 

Alongside Rebel Riot, it was a Mark 1 Jaeger. Now it’s restored helm is in a museum, and can be visited by anyone who wishes to see what it could be like to be inside a Jaeger’s ‘head’. 

Shock Stain

The first of the Mark-7 Jaegers, this is another that could easily count as an ‘all-rounder’. 

It’s name comes from it’s weapons - a set of electrically charged wrist guards - that can be used to stun and disorientate the Kaiju’s.  

Levi and his pilot work insanely well together - so much so that it could be considered more than simply ‘drifting’. 

As of yet, they don’t pilot together, bu in the near future they will, and they would be unstoppable. 

God’s Hammer

Eren decides to traide up the three-person Jaeger for another. One with his Brother. 

Dumbass ends up getting border-line brainwashes before he pulls a uno reverse card on Zeke. 

Despite the mighty name, the two aren’t actually that great, and they end up getting pulled out of piloting after a few drops. 

They’re replaced by Pieck Finger and Porco Galliard. 

Icarus Fallout

The first of it’s kind - a Jaeger small enough to be piloted by a single person. 

Again for emphasis - it is very small - however it’s use is to be an aid to the larger Jaegers. Serving as a extra weapon of sorts. 

Despite it’s size, it is very strong, and it is very maneuverable and a fair amount faster than the other Jaegers too.

Annie was chosen to pilot this Jaeger, mainly because she doesn’t trust easily at all - but also because she works exceptionally well on her own, and can read situations very easily.

AGAIN i am only halfway through the book and im gonna have to go back and reread some chapters i skipped because this is what happens when im very excited to read a book so if you know whether i’m right or wrong here DON’T LOOK AT ME but listen. okay. so. as i understand it, ideal lyctorhood, the lyctoral state achieved without human sacrifice, which has never been successfully done, is basically like extreme drift compatibility, with the goal/main benefit that of having a constant flow of living and dead energy between the participants such that they fuel each other and reach this powerful physical equilibrium that allows them to do all kinds of sick things with their bodies and magic, share their mental resources, and also not age.

working from the assumption that a strong connection and understanding is a step toward making this easier, the candidates closest to ‘drift compatibility’ at the outset of the trials are magnus, abigail, pal and cam. which is why pal and cam are the first to spot the thing that feels off about the process as interpreted by all of the other candidates. they avoid any trial room that involves stuff where you have to deplete your partner to finish the task, and less than halfway through seem to have decided that they’re only here to get to the bottom of the murders. he says, “i don’t like how many of these spells are about sheer control,” and out of all the cav/necro pairings, he and cam (and mangus and abigail from what we saw of them) have the most even balance of power -- more like two disciplines in concert rather than a leader and a follower; a boss and an employee; a damsel (gender neutral) and a protector as we see with other pairings. cam, notably, is one of the few cavs who can hold a professional conversation re: the nuts and bolts of necromancy -- he clearly doesn't shy away from sharing his research with her, and while pal isn’t so up on swordcraft that he knows the best way to learn it, he still is familiar enough with cam’s fighting style to have a little code with her describing attack patterns and moves she does. so he’s primed not to think of achieving lyctorhood through consumption (most necromancers, like harrow, DO think of their discipline as ‘control’) and more readily through partnership.

of the ‘megatheorem’ (which he turns out to be right about) he says “it’s wrong...there’s a flaw in the underlying logic. the whole thing is an ugly mistake”. so he’s already convinced that the original developers of the theorem missed something big that has never been revisited. and based on his conversation with harrow inside his bubble in HtN, we can assume he’s been working on this question since they last talked. he says, “tell me you did it correctly...tell me you finished the work” now, he’s been dead for eight months. he doesn’t know what harrow refers to as ‘the work’ (erasing her memories of gideon). he can only be referring to ‘the work’ of complete lyctorhood, lyctorhood without resorting to messy, brutal soul-eating to drive the connection home. in this essay, i will explain why the team from the sixth house are the closest of all the characters, protagonists included, to achieving perfect lyctorhood with very little effort at all

A/N: I'm in such a Raleigh mood lately so I had to write something with him, but I wanted to make it really perfect and tbh I'm not sure if I achieved that so feedback is really appreciated! Also I didn't really proof read it so if there's any mistakes, I apolagise.

The sound of celebration is clearly heard in the room as you lay with Raleigh on the bed, in complete silence. People are celebrating the end of the war, you and Raleigh closed the Breach, and after the two of you went through many tests to see if you had any health issues, you came back to the Shatterdome. Neither you and Raleigh were in the mood to celebrate so you went up to Raleigh’s room and now the two of you are cuddling on his bed, in silence. You’re resting your head on his shoulder, his arm is wrapped around you, holding you close. You only knew each other for a few days, but there was a strong bond between the two of you. Earlier, when you asked Raleigh if he thinks it’s because of the drift, he immediately so confidently said he’s sure it’s not only the drift, you wouldn’t have matched with him during the tryouts if there wasn’t something more. His answer relaxed you, but also made you nervous about your future. 

“What will happen now, Raleigh?” You ask quietly, you don’t need to clarify what you mean, your mind is still somehow connected to his. People who drift can ghost-drift for like a year, so your and Raleigh’s brain are still connected, melted together. 

“What do you want to happen?” He turns his head to look at you. 

“You know what I want.” You whisper again, looking him in the eye hopefully. His eyes skim over your face, drinking in every little detail before he speaks again.

“I don’t want to lose you either. You’re the only one left for me.” he whispers. None of you had any family left, you lost your sister during a fight with a kaiju, just as Raleigh lost his brother during a fight. You decide to be bold, and lean closer to Raleigh to press your lips to his, in a gentle, small kiss. He looks at you surprised first, then he cups your face and leans down to kiss you, softly, as his tongue slips between your lips into your mouth, massaging his tongue gently against yours. You moan the same time as Raleigh groans, and he pulls you closer to himself. You break the kiss breathlessly, and Raleigh touches your forehead with his, a gesture he seems to really like. 

You honestly think this whole press tour is ridiculous, you weren't in the mood to recall all the painful memories of the past year’s events, and to answer the reporters, and you know that Raleigh feels the same. The nice side of this whole circus was the nice hotel rooms and meals you got, you don’t remember when was the last time you had proper coffee, and the first time you finally drank coffee again, your body melted. Raleigh and you were sleeping together since the night the war ended, you didn’t had sex yet, but both of you could sleep better when you shared a bed. Until one night it happened. You were making out in the bed, hands are all over each other, and soon Raleigh was on the top of you, deep inside of you, moving perfectly, when it happens again. Your mind connects ro Raleigh’s and his to yours, and suddenly everything what he feels you feel it too, and your pleasure is suddenly his too. You moan his name, hugging him closer as you make love to each other while you ghost drift. You see and feel yourself through him, you know what he thinks about you, and his pleasure adds to yours. Raleigh is about to whisper that he loves you, but he doesn’t need to, you’re in his head and you know he’s about to say it, and you say it back to him, make him feel loved the way he makes you feel loved. Both of you pour your hearts out to each other, completely open your souls for each other.

 “Where are we gonna go after this ends?” you ask Raleigh sadly. None of you had a home, and you absolutely have no idea where you should go.

“I have an idea, if you agree with it.” he says with a small smile. You look at him curious before you ask what he has in mind. 

“A farm.” Raleigh says happily. You look at him surprised, a shocked expression on your face.

“A farm?” you ask him in disbelief. 

“Yes.” he answers and steps closer to you, he places his hands on your hips, pulling you closer to him. “I figured it would be a good escape. We could have some animals, away from people, away from the ocean. There’s always something to do on a farm so we both could keep ourselves a bit busy.” you watch him excitedly express his ideas about your future with him and you can’t help, but smile at him. 

“I really like the idea. And you’re right, we should be as far from the ocean as we can.” Both of you had enough of it, and it always brings up bad memories for both of you.

“But you still haven’t answered my question. Where should we go?” you ask Raleigh again.

“How about Budapest?” he asks you, and again, you look at him surprised.

“Why exactly Hungary?” you ask him, but then, you remember. Memories, not yours, of young Yancy and Raleigh floods your brain, you watch the young Becket boys play around. You remember the story, Raleigh and his brother spent a summer in Budapest, and Yancy always wanted to go back there, and this is why Raleigh wants to go there.

“Okay.” you agree with him “But I have a condition.” you say with a small smile.

“What’s that?” Raleigh asks with a smile.

“I want bunnies.” you answer and Raleigh lets out a laugh. 

“You want bunnies?” 

“Yes. And chicken.” 

“Alright.” Raleigh smiles at you then leans down to kiss you.

And this is how you ended up in a farm, outside Budapest, a really beautiful, big farm, with chickens and bunnies as you wished. It’s almost winter, and Raleigh built a house in the garden for your animals, so they won’t freeze. Raleigh really enjoyed this farm life, every morning he wakes up with such joy to go and feed the animals, collect the eggs, and do whatever he wants to do. And you, you planted flowers and fruits, and even some herbs, and you loved to take care of them, and collect your own fruits and eat them, there was something satisfying in eating something what you grew. You’re sitting on the porch with a hot tea in hand as you watch Raleigh do some work. He wears a simple dark blue knitted sweater, his hair is a little bit longer, so is his beard. You watch him happily work, ever since you moved here both of you are relaxed and really happy. You deserve this, you think, both of you do after all the things you went through. Raleigh slowly walks towards you and sits down next to you in the swing bed what he built, he puts an arm around your shoulders and pulls you close. He places a kiss on your forehead and you lean your head on his shoulder. 

“Are you happy?” He asks you and you look at him confused. 

“Of course. Why are you asking this?” Raleigh shrugs.

“Just wanted to make sure.”

“And what about you?” you ask Raleigh. He smiles at you softly, there’s something in his eyes what you can’t read. You don’t ghost drift anymore, or at least not as much as you’d like. “You’re so beautiful.” he whispers and you smile at him, but before you could say anything he continues “I never thought I could find happiness again after what happened to Yancy. But you came into my life and in the first minute I saw you, I knew I was in love. It probably sounds silly, but it feels like our meeting and that we were drift compatible were all destiny. Two broken people found each other and they found a new family and love. I love you so so much.” he says and takes a small box and places it between you and him on the bed. He opens the blue velvet box and reveals a beautiful, simple diamond engagement ring in it. You gasp when you see it, you look at him shocked.

“Will you make me even happier and will you marry me?” Raleigh asks and you feel tears in your eyes as you nod. 

“Yes! Yes of course!” you say happily and you hug Raleigh close. He hugs you even closer, wrapping his big arms around you. You eventually pull away and kiss him passionately, and when you pull away he slips the ring on your finger, and you start a new chapter in your life together.

Oda Forces MBTI

Okay, so I am a secret MBTI fan, so I haven't found many done on Ikesen, so I decided to do my own.❤🌷

So for those who don't know Myers Briggs Type Indicator is a personality categorizer that splits humanity into 16 "freakishly accurate" groups. So I used https://www.16personalities.com as my info source! So without further ado...

Oda Nobunaga - ENTJ Commander

So, I can definitely see the very charismatic confident and freakishly intelligent Nobu fitting this perfectly. It's no secret that Nobu has a certain charm that draws people in to back his goals and ambitions. As for ruthless, there must be a reason Kennyo and Shingen see him as a ruthless tyrant yikes.

This is 100% Mitsu in my mind; he, after all, does gather info from the shadows and loves to tease everyone around him with his witty remarks. INFP is known to be sweet lil cinnarolls, and whose heads are always in the clouds.
