Rating the Accuracy of Animal Names:

(I keep updating this list so check back later)

Marine Iguana: 1/10. They don’t allow lizards in the military

Honey Badger: 1/10. It’s not even made out of honey

Horny toad: 0/10. First of all, this is a lizard. Second of all, I couldn’t find one that was willing to have sex with me so they must not actually be all that horny

Crabeater seal: 1/10. They don’t even eat crabs. Felt uncomfortable asking about the other kind but I’d guess probably not those either

Comb jellyfish: 4/10. Doesn’t even have hair

Hammerhead shark: 10/10. Stop killing hammerhead sharks to make hammers

Paper nautilus: 1/10. Paper would get too soggy

Red Panda: 2/10. Not a panda. More orange than red

Jellyfish: 0/10. Not even a fish, but if it were, jelly would be one of the worst things to be made out of

Electric eel: 5/10. Not an eel. Shocking, I know

Blue footed booby: 2/10. My disappointment is immeasurable. Turns out this lying sack of shit is a just a stupid BIRD

Spiny lumpsucker: 8/10. Apparently this fish is named because it has spines AND a suction cup, not because it sucks on spiny lumps

Pleasing fungus beetle: 2/10. Why would fungus be pleased by a beetle eating it? It just worked so hard to grow

Chicken turtle: 1/10. This is just a regular turtle, there are no chickens involved

Red lipped batfish: 8/10. Not a bat. Does have red lips. Also looks incredibly sexy with that makeup on

Aye aye: 10/10. Does in fact, have two eyes

Blobfish: 10/10 out of water, 1/10 in water. The blobfish gets a bad rap, it only looks like a blob because some dickhead pulled it out of its natural habitat at the bottom of the fucking ocean. You’d look pretty weird if you switched places with them too

Dik dik: 5/10 if male, 0/10 if female. This one’s pretty self explanatory

Mountain chicken: 0/10. THIS IS A FUCKING FROG. STOP NAMING ANIMALS AFTER CHICKENS!

Peacock: 0/10. It pees out of a cloaca, not a cock. Technically it doesn’t even pee either

Monarch butterfly 1/10. They aren’t even one of the species of insects that has a queen, let alone understands the concept of monarchism

Cockatiel: 0/10. They do not have teal cocks

Monkey slug caterpillars: 1/10. These are neither slugs nor monkeys, nor are they some kind of fucked up monkey/slug hybrid. Terrible name all around, the only part they got right was caterpillar

Robin: 5/10. It’s a shame this bird has to resort to thievery but we all have to put worms on the table somehow

Alligator snapping turtle: 1/10. This is not an alligator, nor does it even have the fingers to snap with

Ground squirrel: 5/10. Please don’t grind squirrels

Axolotl: 0/10. Doesn’t ask a lot. Doesn’t ask anything at all

Sea robin: 7/10 This is what happens when the land robin goes pro. This creepy fuck evolved little fingers just to steal things. Is this where fish fingers come from?

Tasmanian devil: 8/10. Much like the christian devil, cool name and way more chill than most people give them credit for. Statistically speaking, they’re far from the deadliest player on the board, but they do have the strongest bite force and won’t hesitate to use it if provoked

Water deer: 7/10. No. This is a meat deer

Star nosed mole: 7/10. Name is somewhat misleading, nose merely star shaped, and not a mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace

Paddlefish: 3/10. Too narrow to effectively be used as a paddle

Shoebill stork: 1/10. Not made of real shoes. Doesn’t pay bills either

Great white shark: 8/10. I’m inclined to agree for the most part but who came up with the name, David Duke?

Bioko drill: 0/10. At least the hammerhead shark looks like a hammer, this stupid monkey doesn’t even remotely resemble a drill

Hippo Tang: 0/10. That’s a fish, and hippos don’t even drink Tang

Bluejay: 3/10. Not actually blue, it’s just a trick of the light. I bet their real name probably isn’t even Jay either

Satanic Nightjar: 4/10. Should be called “slightly evil looking bird” instead

Tarantula hawk wasp: 1/10. Not a tarantula. Not a hawk. Starting to question if it’s even a wasp

Goblin shark: 10/10? Ever seen their jaw move? They sure are gobblin’

Nudibranch: 5/10. The nude part is accurate but it’s a sea slug, not a tree branch. Not even sure how you could possibly make that mistake

Mongoose: 0/10. No mon, it’s not a goose

Bison: 7/10. I just googled it, bison have more gay sex than straight sex so calling them bi is actually pretty accurate. Points removed because there are bidaughters too

Ram: 10/10. They sure do!

Mandrill: 2/10. They could probably be taught to use drills but I couldn’t find any research on this

Silver fox: 1/10. Silver is way too heavy of an element for an animal to be made of

Mayfly: 9/10 Yeah, they might

Fin whale: 10/10. Yep, whales have fins. Glad we cleared that up

Macaroni penguin: 1/10. They don’t eat macaroni

Horseshoe crab: 0/10. Not a crab. Doesn’t wear horseshoes either

Fangtooth: 10/10. Objectively I have to give it a 10 but this is the stupidest fucking name on the whole list. What’s next, knucklefist? Titboob?

Milkfish 1/10. If I go to your house and you offer me fish milk I’m fucking leaving

Little penguin: 10/10. Telling it exactly like it is

Spider monkey: 1/10. Was expecting a monkey with 8 limbs. Let down once again

Glass frog: 2/10. Not actually made out of glass

Hummingbird: 1/10. They can’t even hum

Centipede: 3-35.4/10. Depends on the species, very few actually have 100 legs

Millipede: 0.8-8/10. They have 800 legs at the most

Sockeye salmon: 1/10. Socks would make terrible eyes

Furry lobster: 10/10, 11/10 if that’s a fursuit

Flying fish: 4/10. Merely glides

Sailfish: 3/10. Doesn’t actually know how to sail

21/10/2023-Bolton's Bench and Denny Wood in the New Forest and home

Pictures taken in this set are of: 1. One of many gorgeous and striking fly agarics on a lovely walk from Bolton's Bench, ruby gems of the land of the birches, it was the mushroom we came here hoping to see for the first time this year having seen them here before and it did not disappoint with a wealth of them in different shapes and sizes which was a treat to see. 2. A beautiful Woodlark towards the end of the Bolton's Bench walk, a great surprise to see a nice energetic bird seeing it fly and hunkered down too what an autumn I'm having for seeing them. 3. Bleeding fairy helmet, a delicate and charming mushroom I was pleased to see and learn at Denny Wood today. 4. A paradisiacal mushroom, amethyst deceiver at Denny Wood. One of a few of these minute purple beauties enjoyed on the mossy ground here a key place down the years in a strong record I've had of seeing these in autumn since finally seeing my first here three years ago. I am thrilled that we saw a few of these today too, the two big targets of my fungi year seen today with this and fly agaric and I treasured both sightings. 5. Autumn leaves out the front in the evening sun at home. 6. Black-eyed Susan interestingly coming out again like a few flowers in the garden, notable for the time of year. 7. Star shaped mushrooms on the Bolton's Bench walk. 8. View on that walk. 9. Fly on another key mushroom at Denny Wood, common earthball I enjoyed a couple of flies on mushrooms at each site. 10. Mushroom at Denny Wood.

Other fungi I enjoyed seeing were devil's finger eggs and some fine nail fungus (poronia punctata) in horse manure near Bolton's Bench again here after last month, false death cap, common puffball and turkey tail with lichen enjoyed too. One of my greatest ever fungi days. There were other great bird moments too with a dashing Peregrine seen really nicely flying over early on in the Bolton's Bench walk and the characteristic Rook here, Carrion Crow, Long-tailed Tit at both sites, Blue Tit and Marsh Tit at Denny Wood, Great Tit at Bolton's Bench, Blackbird at Denny Wood and Chaffinch there also enjoyed. New Forest Pony, Grey Squirrel, gorse, some heather in flower, hawksbeard/hawksbit, tormentil and hawthorn and holly berries were also good to see in the forest. A Light Brown Apple moth in the garden and Goldfinches, Starlings and Collared Dove were lovely at home moments today with a cornflower type flower seen in the garden too.

Frankly I don't remember exactly what I wrote in my doodle suggestion, but I think it was something about some sceneries.

We see you posting a lot of character doodles and character sheets (which are AMAZING btw), but what I'm really interested is how you imagine the zones look like. For example, how does Station Square look like after Eggman's attack vs how it looked before. Or how the Green Hills look like in this AU (like, is the invasion visible there or something like that)

So, being honest, I don't usually do sceneries because it's hard. I'm much more inclined to draw characters and my backgrounds are kinda bad, and since this is a free time project and all I tend to lean more to my comfort zone. I also normally don't think I have much to add, you know? I usually just picture the backgrounds like they are in the games.

BUT! It would also be nice to use this as an opportunity to train, and some people have also sent asks regarding other backgrounds. So, ok. I'll still be more on the character side, but let's throw some backgrounds here once in a while!

Starting with... Green Hill, of course!

And now, allow me to take you to a tour through this quaint charming zone.

Green Hill is coloquially called "the sea of grass" by some mobians. The zone, really, doesn't have a lot besides fertile lands and a stunning simplistic beauty.

Now let's look at it a little closely, shall we?

1 - The city of Station Square is by a long shot the biggest urban settlement in Green Hill, even if it's pretty small compared to the great cities of Mobius. It sits on the Emerald Coast, the long beach that separates the zone from the sea on its western side.

2 - Station Square has a train station (that was probably the cause of the city's name) that links it to neighbour zones.

3 - There are small villages scattered through the zone, usually at the base of the bigger hills.

4 - Palm trees are the most common trees in the region.

5 - Waterfalls are a common scenery here too.

6 - There are some small patches of woods amidst the grass.

7 and 8 - The most common flowers here are the big sunflowers and a regional variant of the cosmos violet flower.

9 - There aren't many beasts (bigger animals) on the zone, but critters run free at every corner, mainly birds and squirrels.

10 - As Mobius faces the little invasion problem, Green Hill has at least for now been mostly untouched. Squads of robots roam the zone, mainly in search of critters, so you'd ocasionally see the big capsules used to trap them, and some pawn-robots, motobugs and buzz bombers. (And a few others like newtons and choppers, but those are more rare.)

how is it to kin Tsukasa?

It's such a direct question! I forget people can even remember it's a kinnie thing. I mean, after all, I'm not the type of person who expresses any of it online (I only really like engaging with my beloved, IRL. I don't get anything out of performing online ... or maybe it's more like, nobody has any drive or urge to use the internet, an action which is too specific and annoying, VS just enjoying a swim or a walk!)

hmmm... embarrassing~~ cut ~~

It's up and down, honestly! He's not yorishiro Tsukasa. He doesn't often understand he's loved by Amane. Sometimes, he's the boy throwing himself into the well, convinced the ideal life for everyone is his non-existence (this is difficult, as AVVY! wholeheartedly knows she's loved!). Sometimes, he's not sure why Amane does anything, and what Amane wants. But you know, a lot of the time, he's just a boy growing up with his twin, enjoying the moments. It can be very simple....

My favorite moments ... are when my twin (my husband) and I, are say, throwing rocks onto a frozen lake at the tail-end of winter. We stand and crack the thin ice. I pick up extra stones for him. He takes them wordlessly, just proceeds to toss them as he pleases, entitled to my assistance; he's so used to me, being here, it's become mundane in that warm and wonderful way. It's nice to exist next to him. He 'expects' me to be here, beside him. Ahhh... !

Another moment I like, is swimming in the lake in the summer. I'm a lot more ah, capricious, all over the place, flipping and spinning about. He kind of placidly watches me, in that older-brother-y-way. When he finally earnestly aims to play with me, I'm so excited, and it's so fun to crawl all over him in the water, cling to him, be dragged around, drag him around, watch him do a handstand underwater. He's amused I like it so much, him being in the water with me... I'm delighted he can be amused by something like that. I'm annoying, and a little too spunky, so he shoves my head under the water and holds me down. That's fun too... that kind of thing is my favorite.

I can cajole Amane into joining me in playing on the ropes blocking off the deeper water for the younger kids swimming.... I like to climb all over the ropes more like a squirrel, but Amane, he enjoys tightrope-walking slowly and carefully over the submerged rope which bobs ... when I ask him if he's having fun ? (it's hard to tell) he responds dry and glib "let me think about it. oh, yeah." and it's so Amane.... it's funny. He is having fun, showing off... he's doing something more ah, 'impressive'.

If we go on a walk through the woods together... I tend to walk ahead of him. But I can feel him looking at me, not at the trees around us. Amane looks at me the most, when I can't see him doing it. If my back is facing him, his eyes are more on me than ever. That feeling is wonderful. Its nice to show him a bug, or a frog.

It's a lot of fun crushing on Nene-chan together... and, sometimes, Amane sees Nene-chan in me. Sometimes, he treats me like Nene-chan. That's wonderful, too... if I can be that, to him.

I would say ... ! There are days he's 3, 4, days he's 8, days he's 11 ... more than anything, that is 'Tsukasa'. 12 is rare, but, it happens ... 13, don't know if that's ever really happened.

He (Tsukasa) really ruined my life for a while sexually .... he's definitely made me, do, and, want things, I never did before ever. My nasty husband loved it all and drank it in, but SOMETIMES, HE GIVES ME A CRISIS, TSUKASA...! IT'S INCONVENIENT, SOMETIMES! And it's also embarrassing, sometimes!! It's my entire existence you know, it's so hard when something unheard of is happening ... and then my Amane-Bird-husband-twin is just fucking me about it, ... hough!!!! Everyone's so difficult!!! Everyone does as they please! Sometimes, the twins are a kind of menace!! I am a normal married girl, sheesh.... !! Sometimes things are a little quick or already decided for me ... and it's like, "wait, wait!!" the twins can kind of be a whirlwind in feedback loops... they just want the other to do anything they please. hoo-wee!

1. Are you named after anyone?

I don’t think I am considering they thought I was going to be a boy.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Tearing up write now, cause of some stupid work drama. Board of Directors are 99% no good. They do not want what’s best for the employees.

Also tearing up over NCIS: LA’s cancellation. I mean I knew it was coming, and I haven’t watched in a few years, it’s still sad.

3. Do you have kids?

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Sometimes. Though it generally doesn’t land.

5. What's the first thing you notice about people?

Generally eye color and fingernails/hands. But also how they carry themselves and treat people.

6. What's your eye color?

Brown (oddly I don’t like it on me, but I love Dan Levy and Noah Reid’s eye colors and they are both brown eyes)

7. Scary movie or happy ending

Happy ending. But OMG Z! I loved So Weird!

8. Any special talents?

I have a degree in music. I’m a librarian, so I like stuff organized, but you wouldn’t know it looking at my bedroom.

9. Where were you born?

Metro Philly.

10. What are your hobbies?

Amusement Parks and roller coasters. But also reading and writing. Though I don’t think I’m that good at the writing stuff.

11. Do you have any pets?

Not anymore. We had to put our dog to sleep in December of 2019, and I don’t think we’ll get another one. But we do have bird feeders and our backyard menagerie includes (Birds, Squirrels, Chimpmunks, Deer, Raccoons on the daily, and the not so welcome ones, foxes, and a hawk. I have thousands of photos on my mom’s computer of our wildlife)

12. What sports do you play/ have you played?

Back in the day: Soccer, gymnastics, field hockey, and lacrosse. Also tried basketball for a season but when you see the answer to the next question you’ll know why that didn’t work out.

But then in HS and college it was Marching Band. Yes, band is a sport. I will fight you.

13. How tall are you?

4′11-- In regular sneakers, it just pushes me to that 5′0 mark.

14. Favorite subject in school?

English and Math in HS, and my music classes in college. But also

15. Dream job?

I had always wanted to be an actor. But I have no talent, and I’m short and overweight so that wouldn’t work. But I like being a cataloger at my library. I’m not so much a fan of the Assistant Director Title, but it’ll do.

Adding in here, traveling to amusement parks worldwide and being paid to ride the rides.

Egotober 2022 Day 24: Thriller Night

Summary: Harvest Day is a special festival in the city, that unfortunately for the heroes they would get to attend all of it on this particular year.

A/N: Hey, look, it’s that Silver vs zombie raccoon story I promised literally years ago.

Prompt: Zombie

~::~ Ten Years Ago ~::~

The city liked to throw a little Harvest Day Festival about a week before Halloween. Silver liked to make an appearance. One, because he just loved the holiday and liked to make a little game about how to dress up and keep his identity hidden. And two, because sometimes he and the other heroes were a good deterrent against teen vandalism.

Villains were also attracted to large groups of people, so that was an additional third reason. The vandalism was more common.

Silver was talking to people when a little ten-year-old boy ran over, his mother not far behind him.

“Silver! It’s Silver, mommy.” The little boy had on a striped black and white shirt and zombie make-up on his face.

“Hey little guy,” Silver knelt down to get closer to him, making a glancing check at his mother before looking back at the kid. “What’s your name?”

“I’m Robbie,” he smiled.

“Well, nice to meet you Robbie,” Silver smiled.

Robbie asked Silver to sign his little treat bag and Silver did before Robbie’s mom thanked him and after a bit led Robbie away to the rest of the furniture. Silver would not see the boy or his mother for the rest of the night. But they would meet again. When Robbie was older and being taken under Henrik’s wing as his apprentice. But for now, the little boy in his zombie make-up walked away, and Silver went about watching the crowd. Making sure no one was causing too much trouble. A little bit was okay, but a fight was something else.

Marvin and Jackie had arrived as well an hour in. Something about Anti being spotted in the area so Silver was braced for Anti to show up and attack someone. There were a lot of families here, some with young children. Silver saw at least two wheel chaired children, one young teen with a crutch, and three parents or grandparents with walkers. He mentally labeled them as high priority because in a rush of stampede they wouldn’t be able to evacuate as quickly.

He was relaying that to Jackie and Marvin when Silver heard the first scream. It wasn’t Anti. Anti, against all odds, decided to wait until Halloween to cause trouble that year. He already had a target he was working on torturing and one Halloween night the heroes would find that body in the man’s house. Tonight, Silver was racing off to find the common and he saw one of the rogue mages that like to terrorize the city on occassion. She was older and she and Marvin had a bit of a rivalry. But normally she was a petty thief and attacked when provoked.

Tonight she was pulling a screaming child along.

Silver flew over and snatched the child away, the small boy was shaking and clutching onto a little squirrel plushie he was holding. The kid was in a little red cape and a fake crown.

“Hey! Hey!” Silver shouted and the mage took off. Jackie and Marvin followed after her as she turned into a bird and flew off.

“Kay!”

The boy in his arms began screaming and crying and Silver quickly let him go so he could run over to the man coming over to them. He was in a warm coat and the kid threw himself into the man’s arms as he cried. The man had dark hair and a mustache and beard.

“Kaylor, you cannot stray that far from me,” the man said and looked back at Silver cautiously.

“He alright?” Silver asked.

“Clearly not,” the man said, holding the boy close to him.

“Everyone else alright?” Silver asked.

“Yes, I took my eye off of him for a second to talk to one of his brothers,” the man said. “People steal children all the time in this town, I should have kept a better eye on him.”

“We stopped it tonight,” Silver promised. “Tonight is better.”

“Right,” the man said. “Come along Kay, your siblings will be happy to see you’re safe.”

The small boy didn’t say anything, just clinging to his father’s jacket and sniffling.

“Hope you have a better night,” Silver said.

The man picked the boy up when he didn’t move to pull away. Then he turned to Silver. “Thank you, though.”

“It’s my job, happy to do it,” Silver said as Damien turned away from Silver, thankful that the hero wasn’t good at seeing through magical glamor.

Silver zipped back to try and find Jackie and Marvin and they were standing in front of an above ground sewer entrance.

“She in there?” Silver asked, hovering just above the ground.

“Yeah, bracing myself to have to burn another costume,” Marvin groaned.

“Not liking how she just tried to abduct a kid, that’s new,” Silver said.

Eager to fish the witch back out, Silver started to move into the sewer, taking off his cape and folding it into his pocket in his suit. The superhero called out into the foul smelling tunnel as he flew in, trying to listen.

They weren’t deep into the sewer system but it was enough to smell it. Marvin’s magic chased after him to cover his mouth and head protectively from disease and dampen the smell just enough.

“Hey, why are you so far in town?” Silver asked as he tried to listen for movement, braced for attack. “Thought you hated people.”

“What have you done?” The Witch’s voice seemed to bounce off all the walls.

“Don’t know, you’re the one suddenly kidnapping kids,” Silver said.

“That is no child, not anymore,” she said. “And now I will not get another chance.”

“That’s good,” Silver said. “No more kidnapping kids. The theft of magical ingredients, I get, but I’m not going to let you kidnap people.”

“Then my revenge shall be just,” she said and finally Silver spotted magic being casted in the darkness. Before he could fly in, something was lifting out of the rushing river of sewage.

It was a huge raccoon, almost as big as Silver was. It looked like it was sewn together and the eyes were white. The stretch of death somehow managed to overpower the festering odor of sewage.

The zombified, giant raccoon jumped and the witch escaped.

Marvin flew in to help him and together the two were able to vanquish the zombie raccoon. It died and Silver was suffering some bad-looking bite wounds. And they rushed him over to the clinic that Dr. Iplier was working at.

It was late, and the man was about to go home when Jackie and Marvin came in without costumes. Marvin still had a simple cloth mask covering his mouth and nose.

Dr. Iplier froze when he saw them.

“Hey, Doc,” Mark smiled sheepishly, out of his Silver Shepherd costume entirely.

“The fuck happened to you?” Dr. Iplier demanded. “Why do all of you smell like shit?”

“Funny you say that,” Jack smiled. With his mask gone, Iplier almost couldn’t recognize him.

Iplier rolled his eyes but ushered them in to clean and more importantly disinfect Silver and Marvin’s wounds. And then get them both all kinds of shots set up. Rabies and tetanus shots were given to both with other shots coming the next week as an “extra precaution for the idiots swimming in shit stew” as Iplier called it.

Within a week Iplier would stop being angry at them, and start laughing about the idea of them being beaten up by a demon raccoon in the sewers. He’d laugh specifically at Silver because they had a longer report together.

It’d be all fun and games until Silver started to turn into a zombie from his bites, which was cured the same day he presented symptoms but Jackie wound up breaking his arm in the struggle to subdue the hero. Two doors, three door frames, and a wall would also be destroyed in the fight.

Not the worst day in the base, but it would get more laughs out of Iplier so it wasn’t a complete disaster.

5 activities in Dandeli

River rafting:

The second-best rafting location in India is in Dandeli. Rafting is the finest option if you really want to experience the waters. There are two different ride lengths: one is 1 km and the other is 5 km. The shorter one, 1 km, can be completed within the resort, and the longer one will begin close to Supa Dam (transportation will be provided). It's a breathtaking experience you should have once in a lifetime. You will pay Rs. 600 for a 1 km trip and Rs. 1200 for a 5 km journey. Rowing and rafting through the forest is exhilarating and thrilling. Try out this challenging quest for a new experience.

Dandeli is home to a sizable number of resorts. The lodge I stayed at was called Bison River. It is a lovely location with a pleasant view, kind and welcoming service, and delectable meals. You can take a walk within the resort and feel fantastic because the premises are in the woods and the accommodations are nice and comfortable. You get a sense of being held by nature. The other resorts offer decent lodging and nice dining. Whistling Woods, one of the resorts, offers a variety of massages and spa services. So you can get a spa or massage in that resort merely to unwind for a little while with natural oils. The resorts in Dandeli provide tree house, tent, room, and cottage accommodations. Therefore, whether there are 2 or 50 individuals, we can accommodate them all. If you stay in a hotel, the cost per person per night is about Rs. 2500; if you stay in a tent, it's about Rs. 1800. The package includes three activities, including lunch, supper, and breakfast (nature walk, boating and camp fire). You will truly have the ideal way to end the day by the campfire.

Activities:

Dandeli wouldn't quit coming up with amusing ideas to surprise you. If properly planned, whether on a day trip or a longer trip, all the adventures and activities are possible. There are numerous water and rope activities available, including: rafting, Burma Bridge, kayaking, zorbing, boating, rappelling, zip lining, and river crossing. You can also complete all of the tasks together in one go. You'll pay between Rs. 250 and Rs. 350 every ride (depends on the activity and the resort). These activities are available at practically all resorts.

Sightseeing:

Falls and a few vantage sites are only a few of the area attractions. There are Syntheri Rocks, Kali River, Moulangi Falls, Sathodi Falls, and more. Even more attractions include the Crocodile Park, Sykes Point, Shiroli Peak, Kavala Caves, and Supadam Backwaters.

Trekking & Best Dandeli Jungle Resort:

Dandeli is the most popular trekking destination since it offers a wide range of possibilities. There aren't many organisations that organise treks, but if there are enough people, a trek can be organised at the resort, or you can go on your own. A journey may be quite the adventure. You'll be aware of your strengths, have fun, feel accomplished, and you'll definitely go on another trek after this one. A jungle safari is a fascinating and exciting experience. You have to take a chance when you are in the forest because you never know what great things you can see there. Going in an open jeep while filled with anticipation and hope will make you truly joyful. I went on a pansoli wild safari in the vicinity of kulgi. The times are from 6:00am to 8:00am and 4:00pm to 6:00pm, and the entry charge is approximately Rs. 550 (camera not included). A few deer, tortoises, sloth bears, wild squirrels, and yes, our national bird, peacocks, were also visible. If you see a black panther while visiting Dandeli, they claim you are really lucky. When the expedition was almost over, maybe god was on our side since we almost immediately saw a Black Panther. We were astonished and in awe. Gosh! It was stunning with those eyes and the way it moved. It virtually reached 30 feet in just three hops. Phew! We had the good fortune to see the other animals and a black panther. If you enjoy taking up new experiences, a safari is a must.

Dandeli is the ideal location to spend some time in the woods if you're planning a day trip or vacation, whether you're going with your significant other, family, friends, or coworkers, or if you just want to unwind. The price will probably be around 5600, though it may change depending on the season.

OrchardClan is a clan founded by a group of cats who had escaped from a kitten mill, their leader is currently SlipStar because he won most the trials, their leaders, deputies and healers are not chosen by normal proceedings and instead are chosen by a series of trials including but not limited to, cunning, bravery, strength, determination, stealth and memory, however as their first leader is SlipStar, we'll see how they fair with that system! The deputy is EagleFoot who was the runner up in the trial, the healer is currently MintFleck and they were chosen because they knew the most herbs, however the healers choose their apprentices by getting all the first born kits and testing their abilities at 8 moons old, however they do still go by a code, it is similar but not entirely the same, but we'll get to that shortly! The clan borders an apple orchard which is home to a group of loners and former kittypets, the group of cats are rather unbothered by the massive amount of cats that moved in across the way, some are even considering joining! They also have a unique hierarchy system!

Leaders, who don't have 9 lives, for reasons I'll get into

Deputies, who are there until leaders die but are unable to become leaders unless proven otherwise

Healers, who help with the trials and heal

Healer apprentices, who are in training to become healers

Overseers, who are usually old cats that oversee and judge cats in all the trials

Hunters, who are hunters and occasionally do help with repairing stuff

Warriors, who mainly guard and fight

Scouts, who typically do spy on the outside cats but also help gather herbs when supplies are low

Queens and kings, who are normally there to take care of kits, occasionally hunt and fight if needed

Juniors, who are training in specific ranks

Kits, small kittens under 8 moons

Then lastly we have seniors, who don't typically do much and are uninterested in the overseer role

The code of their clans are similar to the main ones but more simple:

1. A trial is held every 6 moons to test the leader's and deputy's skill, if one fails the new one must be chosen within a moon

2. Deputies are only chosen to be an advisor and are unable to assume the role of leaders

3. Any outside cats must prove their loyalty to be fully accepted into the clan

4. Prey is given to the weak, injured and sick first, unless you are told otherwise, the vulnerable must be fed

5. Defend your clan with your life

6. A warrior mustn't kill in battle unless their lives are at risk

7. Exile is only done to cats who are capable of redemption and cats who are unable to reform are killed to protect the future of the clan

8. Mark borders daily, challenge any cat who wanders in unknowingly

9. Kits are made juniors at 8 moons old and their mentors are chosen by the carrer they qualify for

10. If a kit is in trouble, you must protect them at all costs, no matter who they are or where they come from

Additional information:

They are unable to go by normal clan laws since they're out of Starclan territory

They're friendly towards the barn cats but despise rogues

Their main prey is birds, squirrels, rabbits and occasionally mice

They're known for their tolerance and generosity

Their defining characteristics are their ability to climb and blend in with their surroundings

In this blog we will be exploring predation and prey drive behaviour in dogs. Many guardians struggle with their dogs chasing cats, squirrels, livestock, other dogs and other species such as deers, birds and smaller wild animals.

Many guardians believe that this behaviour is due to the dog's genetics and they aren't wrong. This will be a blog series.

It is really important that we understand breed, genetic and phenotyping before exploring prey drive behaviour in dogs so that we have a full understanding of how to help our individual dog.

Dogs became an important part of life during the 19th century, artificial selection began and extensive records of dogs lineage were recorded. Breed standards were introduced, stud books were produced and the purpose of the breeding for the dog such as herding was also documented. (1)

During this time dogs entered into another transition of being selectively bred for working roles to being artificially selected for fashion reasons.

The dogs that we have today in the modern world face even more challenges within a modern household and society setting. Due to the possible frustration of not being able to express breed related behaviours, they can also become frustrated due to the isolation, non stimulating environments and frustration of inactivity.

Due to this the dog is evolving all of the time, with dog's being artificially selected to fit in with the ever changing demands of what people desire from a dog within a modern world. The companion dog today can still be viewed or acknowledged as an evolutionary work in progress. (2)

The way in which dogs have been artificially selected the genome for dogs is able to be studied clearly, scientists have found small and large variations between the genomes of breeds. (3)

From the learning and the research behind the genetics and the genomic maps of dogs, researchers spend a lot of time investing into the learning of breed specific behavioural traits.

Researchers have also found mapping genes frustrating due to the complexity of the mapping. Researchers are now looking at phenotyping to see if this can be more successful in fully understanding the genes of dogs. (4) (5)

Phenotyping comes from the Greek phainen, which means to show and tupos which means type. This word means the characteristics of an organism and the observable traits, resulting from the genotype interactions with the environment. So phenotypes best reflect nature and nurture. (6)

Due to the complexity of dog behaviour we cannot rely on genetics and breed traits alone. Epigenetics also play a role within an individual dog's behaviour.

Epigenetics are the addition of changes to gene expression. Epigenetics take place before the puppies are born, whilst they are growing inside their mother. Epigenetics can also be added due to the mothers nutrition during her pregnancy and if she has any fearful experiences during pregnancy such as fireworks, separation anxiety or a traumatic event. Epigenetics change all the time through different periods of growth, they can be removed or added to through the environment, behaviours, the environment and poor health such as infections and cancer. Epigenetics and genes can and do change all of the time. So even though good breeders will select a mother and father for desired traits, such as behaviour, coat type, health and development, the puppy is being influenced all of the time from gestation to birth and throughout all of their life.

It may seem odd that I am writing about predatory behaviour, however in order to understand your individual dog and their behaviour we have to understand your dog as a species and how their behaviour can be influenced by their breed type, genes, phenotype, life experiences and poor health episodes.

Many people stereotypically think of a dog breed such as a border collie and automatically make the association of herding. Because this is what they were bred to do. Many dogs have been purpose bred for working and we all make typical associations of the breed and what we expect them to do based on that breed, another example Labrador retriever, retrieving.

Guardians can become frustrated with intense genetic behaviours, such as herding, retrieving, aloof behaviour and more. Guardians can also become frustrated if their dog does not seem to concede to the behaviour of their breed and the expected behaviour of the breed. For example a German Shepherd that doesn't alert bark or a livestock guardian dog breed who doesn't want to guard.

It is really important that we understand breed, genetic and phenotyping before exploring prey drive behaviour in dogs so that we have a full understanding of how to help our individual dog. So in coming back to the introduction we need to help them to feel safe and secure in our relationship, communications and learning.

Dawn arrived in Mondstadt, sprinkling its rays of sunlight across your face. The light basked your room with a glow, rousing you from sleep. You got up, left your comfy bed and opened the bedroom window. You looked down, eyeing the fresh windwheel asters that adorned the city bushes. Early risers strolled along the decorated streets as dandelion puffs drifted through the crisp air.

The Windblume Festival was just beginning. During this time of love and freedom, you thought of Diluc. The two of you knew that what you had was love. When he smiled, you knew that he deeply trusted you. When you held him and he leaned into you, it showed that you really cared about each other. Being with Diluc made you feel so cozy. He was like warm sunshine, the kind that makes you warm and joyful.

Neither of you had a particular name for your relationship, but that was fine. What the two of you shared was not romantic. When the two of you first acknowledged that, you were both incredibly relieved. There was just something about understanding another person in that way.

You immediately knew that you were going to give him Windblumes to show your appreciation. He had invited you to dinner together later that day, which would be the perfect time to give him a Windblume.

After finishing your work shift, you left the busy streets of Mondstadt and headed for the Whispering Woods. It was time to search for small lamp grasses within the grand forest. The shade of the towering oaks made it easy to spot the glowing, blue orbs. You picked the flowers and placed them into a woven basket. Diluc loved those blossoms and so did you. Together you shared them as a Windblume.

After gathering a good amount of small lamp grasses, you went back to the main trail. Although, there was still one thing that you wanted to do before heading to Dawn Winery. You made a detour to the statue of Barbatos located at Starfell Lake. Grand Windblume arrangements surrounded the archon’s statue. You added some blossoms to the array and bowed your head in thanks.

Then you followed the road to Dawn Winery, hoping that your flowers wouldn’t wilt along the way. It was a good time to leave. It was almost time for Diluc’s dinner. He was probably still preparing the food. You walked along the path until you made it to Diluc’s mansion. Thankfully, the small lamp grasses were still fresh. You greeted the staff at the entrance, who were rather accustomed to your visits.

“Good afternoon, Mx. (y/n),” spoke a maid. “You arrived a bit early. Master Diluc is still in the kitchen.”

You thanked the maid and the other staff before entering the mansion. It was a grand building made of dark oak. You walked through its halls until you arrived at the kitchen. Diluc had taken off his coat, his red hair in a high ponytail. He was assembling two plates of his speciality dish, Once Upon a Time in Mondstadt. You waited as he topped the steaming piles of ribs and potatoes with small lamp grass bulbs for flavor.

“Diluc,” you called softly, slightly tilting your head to the side.

He turned and faced you. “Hello, dear. I hope you don’t mind dining on the balcony today.”

You shook your head. The weather was lovely and sunny today and it would be nice to dine outside. Also, you always thought that Diluc’s hair looked beautiful in the sunlight. He burned bright like a phoenix, as if a flame had touched him.

Diluc headed out of the kitchen, where you followed him out to the mansion balcony. He set the steaming plates of food down onto the oak table. You placed the basket of Windblumes next to the table and took your seat. Diluc handed you a silver knife and fork before taking a seat across the table. You bit into the tender meat of the ribs, which blended with the melted cheese. The potatoes were just the right texture and the small lamp grasses enhanced the flavor of the dish. Diluc’s cooking was delectable as always. Then, the two of you finished your meal in silence, just enjoying the other’s company.

You waited until the two of you were done until you gave a Windblume to Diluc. He set down his utensils and watched as you picked a small lamp grass and awkwardly moved your chair so that you were next to him. You turned around and faced him, sheepishly holding the flower in your lap.

“Diluc… I’m sure you already know this...” You began, gently swirling the lamp grass between your fingers. “I really do love you. Thank you for being with me so often, now come closer.”

Diluc leaned in and you tucked strands of crimson hair behind his left ear. You tucked the glowing flower behind Diluc’s ear. He raised a gloved hand and gently held yours, a small smile on his face.

“(Y/n)...” Diluc softly whispered. “You already know that I feel the same for you, love.”

He pulled you into a sweet embrace. You wrapped your arms around him in return. The two of you stayed there, content with being so close.. Nothing could ever replace the feeling that you two felt for each other. You were each other’s fire, comforting and warm all the same.

12/06/2023-Newborough Forest

Photos taken today in this set: 1. Little Grebe. 2 and 10. Red Squirrel, I was over the moon to see this gorgeous mammal weaving between branches and come to the feeder. I always love seeing these, it was simply magical once more after we came to Anglesey in 2021 on an enchanting evening in this peaceful forest to see this sumptuous animal. This was also special as it confirms I’ve now seen Red Squirrels in England, Scotland and Wales this year. A challenge I set myself in the spirit of the unique year it’s been for me having visited both Scotland and Wales and it feels so good to do it. 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9. Emerald views at this beautiful spot. 5. Flowers, lupins I believe which was nice to see. 6. A dazzling Red Admiral which was great to see.

On the way here and at the forest a sightings of Jays made it a big day for me too as alongside Chough at South Stack (which my last post is about, earlier in the day) it means I’ve seen both of my two favourite crow species on the same day for the first time ever. There is a chance I saw seven crow species today (there was at least one I couldn’t quite see if it was Carrion Crow or Raven) which is unprecedented for me and made me remember it’s only the second year I’ve seen all eight British crow in species after 2019 seeing the eighth - Hooded Crow - in Scotland in April. It was fine views of a smart looking bird around the feeders with the Jay at Newborough. Other highlights at Newborough Forest were baby frogs as we saw last time here, Common Blue damselflies, hoverfly, Meadow Brown, Great Tit, Chaffinch, Siskin, Dunnock, a Moorhen chick I believe and Swollen-thighed beetle with Wren heard. Red campion, herb-Robert, broom, speedwell, dog roses, tormentil and buttercups led a more woodland cast of plants here. Buzzard was good to see on the way too with roses, fuchsia, singing Blackbird and Rooks and Jackdaws calling highlights at the cottage today.
