future idiots / themthere projects
speculation and stuff under the cut
mat mentioned a sci-fi project that they started working on at the same time as ghosts (@notacaravan posted the snippet here)
‼️ this is pure speculation at this point, do not take this as fact, nothing is confirmed ‼️ larry’s website has a sitcom listed for development in 2019 with big talk productions (holy shit) named “we are not alone” - now that sounds damn well like a science fiction title to me. if they did something about extra-terrestrial life i’d be very intrigued and excited; they’ve already done an amazing job venturing into paranormal territory with ghosts, and they did fantasy with yonderland.
the only credit is as a writer so far which doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but there’s nothing to say this is a group project either. it’s possible it’s just larry’s solo writing work, but i’m just linking the suggestive title with what mat said. again, pure speculation. the title might be totally unrelated.
Tumblr media
someone also tweeted ben recently (7th november 2021) expressing an interest in another group film together and this was his reply:
Tumblr media
i know they recently said that if ghosts was their last hoorah as a group then they’d be so proud and happy of what they’ve achieved with it, but i’m glad that it seems they’re going to be putting more stuff out there yet!

Channeling rage: writing postcards to voters and other ways to resist
If you are looking for ways to  protect our human rights, I can recommend writing postcards to voters. This is an excellent way for introverts and individuals with limited free time or who are unable to gather in person. There are 2 programs
1. Postcards To Voters .  When you have free time, you send a text message. They'll ask you how many postcards you want to write (min is 4), you reply and they'll send you the list. You provide the postcards and the postage. It's perfect as a small, manageable commitment. 2. The other one is the progressive campaign Postcards To Swing States. They target key states, you sign up, commit to a minimum of 200 postcards. They will mail you the postcards and the addresses, you provide the postage. You have approximately 2 months to write the postcards and then you mail them in October. This is a larger project perfect for a few individuals. It works out to around 5 to 10 postcards per week. You can even create a Zoom meeting with friends who are doing the same project, and get together at a specific time each week &  have a social postcard writing event. And finally, it's therapeutic as heck.
3. Extroverts!  There is so much you can do. Willing to make phone calls or canvass. I suggest checking in with your local Indivisible Groups who work on the local level. Connecting to progressives in your area is also uplifting and allows you to tap into a wider network of like minded resistance. You are not alone!
4.  Finally, for those who like to text - I found it incredibly moving to text voters to remind them to vote or to send info about a specific candidate. The texts are all pre-programmed, you’re there to respond to questions and direct voters to resources. It can be  a bit intense (many of us are understandably not thrilled to get texts so you will need a thick skin). But one of my proudest moments is when a voter in Atlanta texted me a photo of her voting for the first time in 2016 and when we were able to help two elderly sisters get rides to the polling station. (FYI, don't worry - your cell number is not used for the texting, you work through their platform): Movement Labs - text to voters
