So at the end of S2E3 when Stede is trying to bring Ed back to life, he's saying "come back to me" and all that stuff. But when he says "I'll never leave you again" and "You're safe" that's clearly in a different voice, right? There's nothing frantic about it, meaning it's a voice over? So it's not something Stede was actually saying to Ed but rather something Ed imagined Stede was saying? I'm not crazy here, right? Have people already talked about this and I just missed all the discourse?

the thing abt the roman empire trend is it was very funny when it was ppl asking their white cishet husbands/fathers/brothers how much they thought abt it bc it was like. a subtle dig abt how a lot of white cishet men are very obsessed w war in history and nothing else and glorify an era that they saw as hypermasculine and White
like it started out good it started out funny
it got annoying when people started going "omg what's the roman empire For Girls? it's (poetry/bridgerton/ex best friend)"
like no I'm sorry the equivalent For Girls™️ (aka cishet white women as a critique) would be true crime. like in the same way cishet white men think obsessively abt war and hypermasculine periods of history, cishet white women obsess over true crime very unethically despite numerous victims and family of victims talking abt how harmful the true crime community is. they are obsessed with the violent death/rape/torture of people without regard to their real lives or their families. THAT is the "girl roman empire" and it has the same tongue in cheek critique as the og
but noooo we just wanna say War Is For Men and Poetry Is For Women bc the white cishet women missed the joke and just wanted to recreate "girls go to college to get more knowledge boys go to jupiter to get more stupider" but in their 30s
like it's not that serious I know but. I'm autistic and I notice these things lmao.

Transcription: Zayne's ST "Beginning"
i transcribed Zayne's ST story for meta purposes and thought I would put the transcription here for others to have it if they haven't unlocked it yet/to have it more accessible than it is in game
everything with "Foreseer:" is Zayne speaking directly, anything not attributed is the poem. i did it this way to make it easier to read the poem on its own, since that's what i hope to analyze in the future <3
Foreseer: Shift your gaze elsewhere.
Foreseer: Your expression shall not even earn an ounce of my pity.
Foreseer: Though it seems a night in the throne room was not enough.
Foreseer: Perhaps you desire to be frozen with the wall as your paltry confessional?
[Ice SFX]
Foreseer: Better to yield now than later.
[Page turning SFX]
Foreseer: Could you still be interested in what I’m currently reading?
Foreseer: …Certainly, ’tis a poem related to Astra. Its descriptions suit you.
Foreseer: Would you like to hear it?
-
A great distance beyond, …. north of ice and snow,
Atop the Divine Mountain,
When Light pierces through howling blizzards,
The divine sing of Destiny’s crest
My Emissary devout,
Will thou be lost in these celestial halls?
Will thou have the courage to wait for Mine words?
To unveil thy fate predetermined.
-
Foreseer: You appear to be fascinated.
Foreseer: [Laugh?] Hmph, then don’t speak.
-
With the frozen kingdom awakened,
Greedy ants fall into eternal slumber.
The divine rest upon their thrones,
Yet hidden daggers lie beneath their robes.
Brazen trespasser,
Arcticyons sing of thy requiem.
Dost thou know where thy stands,
Upon white, gleaming bones?
-
Foreseer: I don’t mind repeating this verse. Consider it a prophesy of your future.
Foreseer: Are you frightened?
Foreseer: If this is all your courage is capable of, you best forget about the Creatio Protocore.
[Page turning SFX]
-
Traces of destiny like shimmering starlight,
Bind people who have never met…
-
Foreseer: I’ll stop here. The last verse is rather strange.
Foreseer: Do you truly wish to strike a deal?
Foreseer: You ask far too many questions.
[Ice SFX]
Foreseer: Must your wild curiosity be satiated?
-
Celestial Savior,
Is thou prepared?
To save him from darkness?
To be his sanctuary amidst rime and gale,
To allow the descent… of miracles once again?
-
[END]
here is the poem in its entirety without interjections just to make it easier to read:
A great distance beyond, …. north of ice and snow,
Atop the Divine Mountain,
When Light pierces through howling blizzards,
The divine sing of Destiny’s crest
My Emissary devout,
Will thou be lost in these celestial halls?
Will thou have the courage to wait for Mine words?
To unveil thy fate predetermined.
With the frozen kingdom awakened,
Greedy ants fall into eternal slumber.
The divine rest upon their thrones,
Yet hidden daggers lie beneath their robes.
Brazen trespasser,
Arcticyons sing of thy requiem.
Dost thou know where thy stands,

Traces of destiny like shimmering starlight,

Celestial Savior,
Is thou prepared?
To save him from darkness?
To be his sanctuary amidst rime and gale,
To allow the descent… of miracles once again?

Only Friends End Cards and Chronology
I saw this post in the Only Friends tag and it made me wonder: Are the end cards with the characters chronological to the episode they're attached to? Since I'm tracking them as part of my observations into the narrative frameworks of the show, this is something I wanted to explore. So I went to check them out again.
I absolutely think @jenyifer is onto something with this. We put our heads together and looked at the end cards again; if you look at the clothes each character is wearing, the end cards are NOT chronological.
Episode 1: Mew
Mew is wearing the shirt he wears to the pool party at the hostel in episode 3 and that he has on at the beginning of episode 4 when Ray picks him up. We think this might be pre-pool party at the hostel, waiting for Top to pick him up. Maybe contemplating his relationship...
Episode 2 & 4: Ray
It's a bit hard to see, but we're pretty sure Ray is wearing the bowling shirt from episode 4. Our theory is this is post dropping Sand off with his bike and driving home, maybe thinking about him. Also, Ray is the only repeat so far and it's unclear why.
Episode 3: Nick
As @jenyifer pointed out, Nick is wearing the shirt from episode 5. We're like 90% sure this is the hostel. We don't think it's Sand and Nick's apartment. It's not Boston's house as far as we can tell. We're speculating that this occurs around the same time Mew calls Boston about having sex with Top - Boston is still at the hostel with Nick; we think Nick might be in the other room torturing himself with the sex audio. Then they go to Nick's and have cursed birthday party #1.
Episode 5: Sand
This one also seems to be post episode 4, after picking up his bike at the shop. This is the outfit Sand wore in the record store. Thinking about Ray, maybe?
Episode 6: Top
This one is difficult, LOL, because Top is naked and looks like he might be crying. Having said that, looking behind Top at the window, we do get context possibly - it looks like it's raining. We are tentatively placing this end card with episode 3 because that is the only episode where it has rained and Top would be upset about something. Top is in the bath, potentially crying over sleeping with Boston (which, if we're right, OUCH).
What this seems to mean, is at least so far, episodes 1, 2, and 6 have no correlating end card. It will be interesting to see if we get end cards that go back to those episodes. Episode 3 seems to have two (TopMew), and episode 4 has three (Sand and both of Ray's since Ray's are the same one). Episode 5 has just the one so far.

All of y'all pretending like heterosexual women are the only ones who experience misogyny, or experience the most misogyny, are not (just) being homophobic, you're being misogynistic.
You're denying women's sex based oppression is real or it's severity. So maybe sit down and shut up and realize that we are still women despite the fact that we are not sleeping with men. You have the ability to make the choice not to sleep with men too. It's not an inaction unique to homosexuals.
I will spread any feminist praxis I want, and if it's insulting for me to reiterate the ideals we preach in these spaces because I'm a homosexual then you can go ahead and be insulted. SSA women have just as much claim to these spaces as you do because we are women and these spaces are for fighting misogyny, which we all experience. It's not just for tackling the misogyny y'all are uncomfortable with, it's for tackling all of it. Get with the program, ladies.

Okay, I'll be serious, promise. I've been saying (and seeing other people say) forever that the sheer level of alpha hate has a lot of anti-black undertones. But I've also seen some of it rooted in being anti-sexualization of children, pageantry, etc. I think a lot of people go way too far with that, not realizing what they're implying, while others gladly use it as an excuse to be anti-black. It depends on context, and as a whole I think well-meaning people should be wiser with their words and try to move away from using terms like "yassify" to describe what they're actually trying to refer to. Because that encourages not only the black alpha simmer hate in general, but also pushes that negative actions towards child sims all onto them, whether that was intentional or not. Really think about the terms you use before you use them, and what you're really trying to say before you post something. Because regardless of intention, words have consequences. Not only for yourself, but for the community that we all are a part of.
