Interlude: Act IV
"Greetings, my humbled peasants! "
Their little tender moment was interrupted when Sooyoung barged into the infirmary with her chin held high and chest puffed proudly. Upon spotting Seungwan and Joohyun, she casually strutted towards them acting as if she owned the damn place. For some reason unbeknownst to everyone, her ego was overly inflated today. The tall Slytherin winked at an injured Gryffindor girl in passing and smirked arrogantly when the said student visibly swooned at her charms. Sooyoung knew the effect she had on people and she was great at using it to her advantage.
Seulgi mainly composed her little entourage and at least had the decency to look sheepish at the Slytherin's grand dramatic entrance. She held a small, nondescript pouch within her grasp and greeted Seungwan and Joohyun with an apology when they stopped by. "I told her not to make a scene." The Hufflepuff Prefect gestured towards the tall Slytherin and shook her head in embarrassment. She always had the rotten luck getting caught in her friend's shenanigans.
"At least you tried." Joohyun crossed her arms and casted her fellow Slytherin a rather judgmental look. She was quite annoyed at the sudden interruption. There were still things left unsaid, reassurances needed to be given and words dying to be declared.
"How's my favorite person in the world?" Sooyoung ignored their jabs and haphazardly sat on the bed before engulfing Seungwan into a tight hug. A teasing smirk was plastered on her lips when she noticed the scandalized expression the Slytherin Prefect adopted.
"Fine." The Ravenclaw clenched her fists when Sooyoung accidentally grazed her broken arm and gritted her teeth to keep a pained groan from escaping. Merlin's beard that hurts! Discomfort was written on her face and every cell in her body protested from the sudden contact. "Never better." Her gaze landed on the Slytherin Prefect and her distressed eyes screamed for help.
"That's enough!" Joohyun barely had control to push Sooyoung off the bed but thankfully, she managed to reign her impulses and pulled the tall Slytherin away from the blonde. She swatted away those invading arms and made sure to put a good distance between them by inserting herself in the middle, crossing her arms and glaring daggers at Sooyoung for even daring to touch Seungwan. "What are you doing here?" Her voice sounded accusatory, perfectly making it clear that she was unhappy with their arrival.
"We're here to celebrate Seungwan's victory on the first task!" Sooyoung rolled her eyes her friend's overprotectiveness. Seriously, Joohyun needed to chill. Seungwan was not a fragile glass that easily breaks. She was acting like Sooyoung committed the forbidden crime of touching the Ravenclaw.
"Okay but must you make such a ruckus about it?" The Slytherin Prefect was unimpressed.
"Joohyun." Sooyoung sighed in exasperation. "You're being a buzz kill right now and I don't appreciate it."
"Why?" The Ravenclaw decided to intervene in their little spat to keep things from escalating. "I only got second place."
"That's not what the whole school thinks. Thanks to my campaign efforts, you have become a hero in their eyes." The Slytherin was practically shaking in excitement. It didn't take much to convince people to support Seungwan. The Ravenclaw was already lovable to begin with and she was greatly admired not only for her looks but also for her intelligence and kindness. Sooyoung only capitalized on that fact and used it to her advantage.
"You are now known as Seungwan the dragon slayer." Seulgi beamed proudly at her friend and patted her back to congratulate her for a job well done, something she immediately regretted when the Slytherin directed that deadly gaze towards her, threatening the Hufflepuff with her eyes and warning her to keep her hands to herself. "A-Anyway..." Seulgi gulped nervously and slowly backed away from her demented friend. She was not, under any normal circumstances, planning to get murdered by Joohyun. "We come bearing gifts!"
With that, the Hufflepuff rummaged through the nondescript pouch she was carrying and pulled out a box of chocolates, a bouquet of flowers and several other gifts before placing them on the bedside table. "These are from your admirers. They were greatly concerned of your well-being and wished for your speedy recovery." Seulgi pulled out a neat stack of handwritten letters and gingerly placed them on Seungwan's lap.
The Ravenclaw was amazed at the sight of her friend pulling out random things from the small pouch. It greatly defied the laws of Physics. Though, she concluded, maybe the object was just enchanted so that it could store numerous items without changing its size. "Are these for me?" Seungwan gingerly traced the outlines of the letter on her lap. She sounded completely surprised, as if the fact that she had admirers was a complete twist of fate. How could someone love a dork like her?
"Of course! You're the Hogwarts hotshot now bitch!" Sooyoung subtly sent a smug smirk in the Slytherin Prefect's direction. A blatant message for Joohyun to know that the stakes have been raised, that she wasn't the only one vying for Seungwan's affections now.
There was a certain light shimmering in the Ravenclaw's eyes as her lips stretched out into a bright smile which caused Joohyun to frown in displeasure. Something unpleasant brewed in the pit of her stomach and it only grew as Seulgi pulled out more chocolates and flowers from the pouch. Stupid admirers and their stupid gifts! Heck, Joohyun could buy all those flowers and chocolate factories in the world and give them to Seungwan without even batting an eyelash.
Seulgi pulled out a seed from the pouch. It looked particularly insignificant but when it landed on the palm of Seungwan's hand, the seed blossomed into a beautiful and sparkling white rose. The Ravenclaw giggled delightedly and took a long whiff of the flower's scent. Stupid roses. Joohyun huffed in annoyance as she crossed her arms. Who in their right minds would give an injured person some flowers? Seungwan is gonna have a fucking pollen allergy at this point.
Back when the blonde was merely a normal student, they barely spared her a glance but now they proudly declare their undying love for her just because she's the dragon slayer? The audacity! Joohyun was the first. She had long been blinded by Seungwan even before she became the Hogwarts champion and earned everyone's adoration.
"This looks lovely." Seungwan commented happily and Joohyun rolled her eyes because of course she liked the gifts. It was not hard to please an innocent person like her. The Slytherin Prefect just wished that the Ravenclaw would raise her standards a little bit because come on! That looks like some cheap ass flower. Joohyun could certainly do better than that.
"It's unremarkable." Her tone sounded exceptionally harsh and even her friends glanced at her in surprise. The Prefect immediately schooled her expression into a neutral one and tried to hide the bitterness in her voice. "I mean, it's just an ordinary flower to me." She shrugged, acting as if it didn't bother in the slightest, before looking away.
"Bitter." Sooyoung hid her snide comment with a cough. She was amused at her friend's crude reaction. The plan was certainly working. It's amazing how a little jealousy could do wonders in a person's mind and cause them to act irrational.
"And for the final gift..." Seulgi rummaged dug deeper into the bag and revealed the familiar golden egg. The egg that Seungwan fought hard to obtain. The very same egg she risked her life for by battling a dragon and almost drowning into that lake. The Hufflepuff reverently held the egg within her grasp and handed it over to its rightful owner. "The clue to the second task."
Seungwan carefully received the gift and gingerly the outlines of the enchanted egg with her finger. The hardened shell was encrusted with pure gold and neatly polished to the point that her reflection could be seen from the surface while the hinges were inlaid with sapphire gems which shimmered under the sunlight. It called to her, urging her to finally reveal its secrets. "Wait." She blinked, completely escaping whatever trance she was in, and frowned in confusion as she glanced at her friends, or rather, what mostly composed her friends. Joohyun, Seulgi and Sooyoung were present which could only mean...
"Where's Yerim?"
As if on cue, the doors of the Hospital Wing opened to reveal a rather grouchy Yerim. The Gryffindor had a perpetual scowl plastered on her face when she mindlessly headed towards their direction. "Sup." She greeted the blonde with a dry nod before plumping down the bed and releasing a heavy sigh. Without asking for permission, she helped herself to some of the sweets gifted by Seungwan's admirers and just chewed on it half-heartedly. It looked like she was having a rather unpleasant time.
"Rough day?" Sooyoung scooted over to make more room for her.
"Yeah. A bunch of idiots decided to Stupify me just because they think I manipulated the betting pool." The Gryffindor scowled when she tasted a rather nasty flavor from Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. "Freaking earwax." She spat the offensive treat away and downed the after taste with some sparkling water she conjured out of thin air. Addressing the Ravenclaw, Yerim spoke in the most monotonous voice possible, completely disregarding how her disinterest was blatantly showing. "Congrats on not dying or whatever."
"Uhh... thanks?" Seungwan replied.
"Who are these people?" The way Joohyun's eyes narrowed and her voice dropped to a deep timbre was enough indication that she now shifted in her Prefect mode and was dead set on making those idiots pay. What can she say? Her overprotectiveness for Yerim caused her to have zero tolerance for bullshit. "They broke school rules by using combat magic outside of class. I could reprimand them and--"
"Everything's fine. I can handle it" Yerim interrupted her friend with a dismissive wave of her hand just before Joohyun's harmless plans could fully escalate to outright murder. It was cute really, the way the Slytherin Prefect showed concern for her well-being, but the Gryffindor disliked having her friends fighting her own battles. She was fully capable of defending herself. Deciding to change the subject, she gestured towards the golden egg on Seungwan's grasp. "So, what does that thing do?"
"I don't know." The Ravenclaw shrugged as she stared at the enchanted object in curiosity. What wonders does it contain? What secrets lies within? Maybe it's time to know. "I guess we're about to find out."
With that, she twisted the lock and the egg burst open. A bloodcurdling shriek erupted from the device and its unholy sound permeated throughout the Infirmary. Seungwan accidentally dropped the object, which fell to the floor and rolled just a few distances away, and winced at the sudden barrage of noises. Joohyun yelped as she crouched to the ground and covered her ears to block out the disembodied voices. Sooyoung lost consciousness and promptly passed out on the bed. The injured students adopted pained expressions as they were rendered immobilized by the offensive resonance.
"Make it stop!" Yerim screamed at Seungwan despite the noise as she desperately used a pillow to prevent her eardrums from bursting. When it was obvious that the Ravenclaw still remained paralyzed from the noise, the Gryffindor took matters into her own hands and casted a spell. "Muffliato!"
But it was no use, the terrible screeching still echoed through the room.
Thankfully, Seulgi recovered from her stupor and jumped into action. She ran to grab the egg, recoiling from direct exposure to the inhumane sound, and with all her might, shut the hardened shell and firmly secured the lock in place. There was a tense silence that lingered in the atmosphere, most of the students were sending relieved glances at the Hufflepuff Prefect for stopping the commotion while shooting daggers at the Hogwarts champion for causing this ruckus in the first place.
Seulgi carefully wrapped the enchanted egg with her yellow scarf and gingerly handed it back to Seungwan as if she was handling a cursed object. Maybe it was, considering the amount of racket it caused. "That was..." She paused, trying to find the right word, before finally settling with. "Intense."
"Yeah, no shit." Yerim gestured at Sooyoung, who still remained unconscious at the foot of the bed. She nudged the Slytherin awake but to no avail. Their friend was out cold. The Gryffindor rolled her eyes and sighed in exasperation. "And I was looking forward to auctioning the clues for the next task and selling the answers to the highest bidder." She addressed Seungwan tried to make her realize how much of a wasted opportunity this was. "You don't know how obsessed people are with the tournament. They'd literally sell their souls just to even catch a glimpse of that blasted golden egg."
"Girls..." Their little conversation was interrupted when Madame Pomfrey suddenly appeared and adopted the sternest expression ever known to wizardkind. She didn't look pleased at the racket they caused, her eyes particularly accusing Seungwan, and it took all of their guts not to squirm under her piercing gaze. Even Joohyun who was rarely intimidated, studied the floor and found very interesting. "Must I remind you the rules of the Hospital Wing? Causing unnecessary racket is forbidden." Her tone was icy as it was coated with poisonous venom. Was it just Seungwan or did the atmosphere suddenly become suffocating?
The three friends shared hesitant glances. Terror evident in their eyes.
Looks like they're in for a long lecture.

"Welcome, Rosé, to the Ministry of Magic."
Jennie beamed excitedly as she gestured towards the enormous place with a grand flourish of her hand. The Beauxbatons champion couldn't help but be awed at the magnificent sight. She'd never been to a place like this before, only seeing its wonders in those newspapers and gossip rags. Being in here now in this marvelous structure, it was enough to render her speechless.
The headquarters of the Ministry of Magic was located deep underground at the heart of London, although magical windows showed whatever weather Magical Maintenance had chosen for the day, from bright sunshine to hurricanes. Its enormous structure was decorated with fireplaces up and down both long walls. The left-hand side with gilded fireplaces were mainly intended for arrivals. Witches and wizards would use it to clock in at the Ministry. Meanwhile, the right-hand side contained gilded fireplaces as well and these were used for departures. The floor was polished dark wood and Rosé gawked at the blue ceiling with platinum symbols moving across it.
"Where are we?" The blonde allowed Jennie to grab her hand and lead her through the throngs of people. Her friend looked at ease, like she completely felt at home within this daunting place. Maybe she was. After all, her mother was the Junior Assistant to the Head Minister. Her steps were measured and confident like how one would expect a person who grew up exploring these halls.
"This is the Atrium. That means we're currently at Level 8." They pushed past the Fountain of Magical Brethren which had group of golden statues, depicting a wizard, a witch, a centaur, a goblin and a house-elf, spouting a steady stream into the surrounding pool of water. At the end of the Atrium was a set of golden gates, next to which was a security stand. Another smaller hall was beyond the gates, where there was a series of lifts which provided access to the other levels, except the tenth.
"You said that you wanted to meet Auror Park?" Jennie gave her friend a sideways glance when they got inside the lift. She was curious as to what Rosé's agenda was. Her friend got really secretive when she tried to bring up the topic. Heck, the short girl even considered slipping some Veritaserum into her friend's morning tea just to get her to spill the beans but decided against it. She reached out to press the Level 2 button and patiently waited until they arrived at the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
"Uh yeah, I'm a big fan of hers." Rosé tried to hide her lie behind a beaming smile but upon noticing the subtle downturn of Jennie's lips and the silent judgement in her eyes, she could tell that her friend wasn't buying it. The lift momentarily stopped on Level 5 and other witches and wizards swarmed inside which forced the girls to huddle close. "I've been really into Auror stuff lately." Rosé absentmindedly traced that crumpled piece of parchment resting in her pocket. That little exam result she stumbled upon just a few days ago. Should she really do this? Coming here and seeking out her enemy's mother seems a little overkill. Maybe it wasn't too late to turn back now and forget all about this petty revenge.
"Really? Never pegged you for an Auror wannabe. Thought you wanted to become a singing sensation in the wizarding world?" Jennie raised a dubious brow, obviously detecting the little white lie, and when Rosé didn't reply, she shrugged, having lost interest in her friend's business, and casually checked her nails for dirt. The Beauxbatons champion clearly had no intentions of spilling her secret. "Whatever you're planning, just make sure it's worth it."
The lift stopped and the vibrant ring of the bell indicated that they finally arrived at Level 2. The rest of the passengers shuffled out and both girls waited for the traffic to pass before they too exited the compartment. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement was the largest division at the Ministry of Magic and it was situated in a corridor lined with doors on both sides. One could easily get lost within its vastness but Jennie had no problem navigating through its labyrinthine halls. She dragged Rosé around the corner towards a set of heavy oak doors leading into the Aurors Headquarters. They passed by a large open area divided into small cubicles which was buzzing with talk and laughter.
"Those cubicles are intended as work area for each Auror." The short girl was kind enough to provide an explanation to her ignorant friend. Rosé's amazement at everything was adorable. Her muggleness was clearly showing. Jennie couldn't help but smile.
They stopped by daunting entrance to the Aurors Headquarters and the other Aurors, who were busy working, stopped whatever it is they were doing to observe the two teenage girls who had the audacity seeking audience with the Head Auror. Jennie obnoxiously knocked on the door and Rosé didn't know if her friend noticed but everyone was staring at them, like literally staring. It was certainly unnerving.
"Come in."
Both girls briefly shared a look. This is it. Rosé mentally prepared herself for the worst-case scenario when Jennie opened the doors and they got inside. When she first laid eyes on the office, it took her breath away. It was a spacious and airy working area decorated with vibrant plants and large windows which allowed enough sunlight to bathe the room in a golden glow. Two large wooden shelves filled with books about Defensive magic and Combat arts were firmly fixed by the corner. Pictures of known Dark wizards, maps, and clippings from the Daily Prophet were pinned on a bulletin board hung on the wall. An elegant mahogany desk, with documents haphazardly stacked and an ancient-looking globe placed on the side, was positioned in the middle of the room. A woman was perched on a leather chair. Enchanted envelopes, probably containing posts and letters, levitated on the air. She was obviously preoccupied with filing reports and writing back to correspondents because her quill never stopping scribbling something on a parchment.
"Pleasant morning girls." The woman momentarily paused her business to greet them and Rosé was struck upon meeting an older version of Sooyoung. She was probably in her late 30's. Her raven black hair was neatly tied into a bun and her brown eyes seemed friendly enough. There was a certain kind of warmth in them and deep creases formed beneath, an obvious evidence of unburdened laughter and genuine smiles. She was certainly the type of woman a person could easily confide in just by judging her vibrant and cheerful nature.
"To what do I owe this pleasant visit?" She beamed brightly, showcasing a set of pearly white teeth, as she adjusted the lapels of her black blazer and wow. This was Sooyoung's mother? How completely different she was from her daughter. The Slytherin girl exuded sarcasm and mischief yet her mother was the exact opposite. Rosé shook her head in disbelief yet as her gaze landed on that small yellow and black crest with a badger in the middle, which was displayed proudly on the desk, she realized that maybe it wasn't so surprising. Soojin was a Hufflepuff. That explains all the sunshine and rainbows.
Looks like the apple really fell far from the tree.
"Head Auror Soojin, is this a bad time?" Jennie asked hesitantly upon noticing the mountains of paperwork the older woman was sorting.
"Oh no, not at all. You both came at a perfect time. I was taking a break anyway." With a subtle flourish of her wand, the scattered files and levitating envelopes landed on the desk and neatly arranged themselves in organized piles. Soojin stood from her seat and walked over to properly greet them. She wrapped Jennie into a warm hug before her gaze landed on the Beauxbatons champion. Rosé got a little self-conscious and started fidgeting with her fingers when the Auror studied her curiously. "And who is this lovely lady?" The older woman asked the second both of them pulled away from the embrace.
"Oh, this is Roseanne Park, my best friend, but you can call her Rosé or Chaeyoung." Jennie proudly introduced the tall girl with a beaming smile. Her enthusiasm was so infectious that Rosé couldn't help but grin herself. "Rosé, I'd like you to meet Park Soojin. The greatest Auror in the world. She's the one who taught me combat and defensive magic."
"You flatter me Jennie." The Head Auror laughed before engulfing the blonde in the same warm hug. Her scent smelled like earthy wood and fruity kiwi. Rosé took a liking to her immediately. "I was actually her pseudo-babysitter when she was a child." They eventually pulled away and Soojin casted an exasperated glance at the shorter girl. "You have no idea how much trouble Jennie usually gets herself into. I've lost count of the times I had to save her from attempted kidnapping and spelled curses."
Jennie tried to hide her embarrassment with a cough and Rosé smirked at her apparent attempt of appearing calm and unbothered. The brunette was usually dainty and poised at school. She never thought that her friend had a history causing mischief.
"It's such an honor to finally meet the Beauxbatons champion. Your reputation precedes you, Miss Park." Soojin turned to appraise the said girl. Her all-knowing eyes studying the rest of Rosé's form and she must've been satisfied with what she had seen because she suddenly all smiles and laughter, acting like the blonde was her long-lost daughter. "Single-handedly defeating a mighty dragon like that? Your parents must be so proud of you! I know I would."
Jennie smiled fondly. It was great that Rosé earned the older woman's stamp of approval. Unbeknownst to most, Soojin was a great judge of character. It was one of the main reasons why she was elected as the Head Auror of the Ministry.
Rosé was unable to hide her incredulity. "You know me?"
"Of course, I do." The older woman furrowed her brows in confusion as if Rosé asked a rather odd query. "News spreads fast in here. The Ministry of Magic keeps a close coordination with the schools involved in the Triwizard Tournament to ensure the safety and sanctity of the competition." Her frown deepened and there was darkness that flashed in her eyes. A certain kind of horror enough to traumatize a person.
"We wouldn't want another innocent life to be lost in that tournament." There was something about the Head Auror's statement that seemed foreboding, almost like a warning, but Rosé couldn't quite decipher the meaning behind it.
Suddenly, the gloomy aura disappeared and Soojin was back to her cheerful self as if nothing ever happened. "Would you girls like some tea? I have chamomile ones shipped here yesterday." She flicked her wand and transfigured a few books into teacups and a little china pot. Conjuring some scones and biscuits out of thin air, she conversed with the girls while preparing the tea. "The Headmistress of Castelobruxo was kind enough to send some gifts as thanks when I volunteered to teach her students some techniques in Defense Against the Dark Arts during my visit in Brazil for the Wizarding Convention."
"Uh there's no need for that Soojin. We're just here to stop by." Jennie waved off her efforts and Rosé hissed under her breath. They shared a look and a little argument has transpired within that momentary staring contest.
What? The short girl didn't bother hiding the yawn that escaped her mouth.
Don't be rude! She prepared tea! Rosé glared and sent daggers towards her friend with her eyes. No one, and I mean no one, is allowed to decline tea!
So? We've been here long enough. I still have matters to attend to. Jennie rolled her eyes in exasperation. Tell her your business and be done with it so we can leave.
In the end, Rosé lost the argument. It's no surprise really. Jennie always wins arguments, even petty ones. The Beauxbatons champion expressed her disapproval for her friend one last time before apologizing to the Head Auror. "Pardon our intrusion ma'am. We'll be out of your hair soon. I'd just like to give you something." With that, she took out the crumpled piece of parchment from her pocket and handed it over to Soojin, who studied it curiously.
"This belongs to Sooyoung." The Auror commented as she read the heading were the familiar penmanship of her daughter was printed. It was an Arithmancy test and a large D- was written on the topmost portion in bold red ink. Her eyes widened when she noticed the offensive mark and stuttered in response. "H-How?" She was in disbelief. How could Sooyoung fail? As far as she knew, her daughter was doing quite well in school.
"I'm friends with your daughter, you see." The lie tasted bitter in Rosé's mouth but she forged on. There was no stopping now. She'd come this far. Her revenge was finally at hand.
Jennie was momentarily shocked at her friend's claims but she recovered immediately, schooling her expression into neutrality. She'd swear on her soul that the two weren't friends, not even close. They were sworn rivals eager to slit each other's throats.
So why did Rosé lie?
The Beauxbatons champion took out a folder from her purse and gingerly held it in her grasp as if it were a top secret file. The document contained records of Sooyoung's misdeeds in school, including all the exams she failed and the numerous rules she'd broken. Rosé had a hard time gathering this evidence. She even had to persuade Filch, the Hogwarts Caretaker, to let her borrow the records. Thankfully, a box of muffins and pints of Butterbeer did its trick. "This file contains Sooyoung's performance in school."
She gingerly handed over the said folder to the Head Auror, who gingerly accepted it. She looked quite terrified at the revelations she might stumble upon. "I'm concerned with how Sooyoung has been conducting herself lately. It's unbefitting of a Hogwarts student." The last line was rather harsh but Rosé ignored the lingering guilt in her heart. Besides, Soojin had the right to know about her daughter's shenanigans.
The older woman blanched upon reading the lengthy list of school rules her daughter had broken. It was also indicated that the Slytherin failed Potions twice and was advised to take remedial classes. Oh dear god. What has her daughter gotten herself into? Soojin felt lightheaded. She thought that Sooyoung was doing completely fine. Her daughter never said anything about struggling in school. How come she never noticed? She failed as a mother. Where did she go wrong? In the end, she swallowed the lump in her throat and tried to accept the bitter reality. "Thank you for informing me." Her fingers trembled as she fought to keep her voice steady. "You're a great friend Rosé."
The Head Auror lost all her warmth as she lifelessly leaned against the mahogany desk for support. Her vacant eyes were staring in the distance, completely lost in thought. Rosé bit her lip and wondered if she did the right thing. If revealing everything to Sooyoung's mom was the right decision. But she didn't have enough time to contemplate because Jennie was already leading her out of the office while apologizing to Soojin and promising to come back in the future. They left the Aurors Headquarters and walked until no other person was in sight. The Beauxbatons champion was too late to realize that her friend already dragged her into a corner to interrogate her.
"That was a low blow Chaeyoung." Jennie used her birth name, a clear indication of her disappointment. Her dark eyes were harsh and unforgiving which caused Rosé remain firmly rooted in place. "Involving her mother in your petty squabbles. I thought you were better than that." Poisonous venom coated every inch of her merciless words.
Rosé, for her part, tried to defend her actions. Maybe it was a way for her to hide her guilt. "She deserved it Jen! She pranked me by sending that blasted plant and tried to destroy my reputation by launching that smear campaign. This payback is nothing compared to what she did to me!" She was desperate to make her friend see sense, to make Jennie take her side, but the shorter girl merely shook her head. Jennie was clearly having none of her excuses.
"You crossed the line. I'm very disappointed in you Park Chaeyoung." A small frown marred her face and for the first time since forever, Rosé became the recipient of Jennie's vicious words. In their long years of friendship, this never happened before. The short girl was usually considerate around her. The Beauxbatons champion that it was the last but apparently, Jennie wasn't done yet. "Have fun returning to Hogwarts on your own."
"Jennie?"
The said girl stiffened at the sound of a familiar voice calling out her name. She turned around only to find the Junior Assistant to the Head Minister staring at her in confusion. There was a slight crease on her formal maroon dress, which greatly contrasted with the neat persona she usually presented. "What are you doing here?"
A stern-looking woman, with silky black hair tied to a strict bun and donned a neatly-pressed black blazer, form-fitting black pencil skirt and ebony stiletto heels that could easily stab a person, stood beside the Junior Assistant and when the Beauxbatons girl got a closer look, she realized that the woman was in fact, the Head of the Ministry of Magic.
Oh crap!
Oh shit!
What rotten luck she had.
Jennie signalled Rosé to stay quiet and just let her do the talking. They approached the women and stopped just a few inches away, enough to maintain a respectful distance. "Hey mom--" Then she turned to address the higher ranking official within the vicinity. She fought hard not to squirm under that cold gaze. The Head Minister can be particularly intimidating. "--And Head Minister Bae Jihyo. Fancy seeing the both of you here." She spoke through false smiles and fake cheerfulness. Shit. Shit. Shit! Her mind quickly formulated different scenarios that will allow them to escape this confrontation unscathed.
"Is this your daughter Eunji?" Minister Bae questioned her friend and colleague. Eunji merely nodded in response, still confused as to what her daughter was doing in the Ministry. "She'd grown so much. The last time I saw her, she was only a foot shorter than my Joohyun." Then her inquisitive gaze landed on Rosé. "And who's your friend?"
Jennie silently cursed herself for forgetting to introduce her friend. Her manners were seriously lacking these days. "Oh yes, this is Rosé Park, my friend and the chosen Beauxbatons champion." She made sure to add the prestigious title so the women would regard Rosé with a little more appraisal. If they ever found out that her friend was a half-blood, well, it's safe to say that they'd regard her like an insignificant insect. Yes, they might've had their little disagreement but Jennie wouldn't wish Rosé to be treated that way.
"I've heard so much about you Miss Park." There was a hint of an approving smile gracing the Head Minister's lips. Jennie released a breath she didn't know that she'd been holding. So far so good. "That impressive defeat of the dragon by using only the Freezing charm was a nice touch. A feat that will surely go down the history of the Triwizard Tournament." A sudden thought occurred to Minister Bae and she frowned. "Though I heard rumors that a Muggleborn had been chosen to participate in the tournament." She uttered the word Muggleborn as if it left a bad taste in her mouth.
"You mean Son Seungwan? The Hogwarts champion from Ravenclaw?" Rosé joined in the conversation but quickly regretted it when Jennie sent her a dangerous glare. What did I tell you about keeping silent?! Her eyes screamed with unhindered malice.
"So that's her name." Minister Bae was unable to hide her disapproval. Son Seungwan huh? Even her name sounded vile. "Honestly, I don't know what Dumbledore is thinking these days, allowing a Muggleborn to join the tournament like that. Clearly Purebloods are the better contestants."
"True." Eunji agreed. "The educational quality is seriously lacking these days.
Jennie just wanted to leave and get the fuck out of here. She didn't have time to deal with this Pureblood Supremacy bullshit. "As much as we'd like to stay and chat, we need to go back. Rosé still has some training to do for the upcoming task."
"Okay. Be safe on your journey back."
With that, Jennie dragged Rosé away and left without saying goodbye. Once the Beauxbatons students were out of earshot, Eunji turned to address Minister Bae.
"We need to intervene Jihyo. This is is ridiculous! That upstart mudblood shouldn't even be allowed to compete in the first place!" She tried to make her colleague see sense. It was an insult to the wizarding community to have a Muggleborn participate in the Triwizard Tournament since it completely defies tradition. This was just not acceptable. "She needs to be eliminated."
"I'm well aware of that Eunji. We can't just waltz into Hogwarts and stop the tournament. Dumbledore would surely defy us." Minister Bae tapped her chin as she contemplated on the possible solutions to their current problem. So far, she came up with nothing.
"Well, there's this upcoming Yule Ball. Every prestigious wizarding family will surely attend it. Maybe we can convince them to join our cause and have that pesky muggleborn voted out of the competition." Eunji flawlessly laid out her plan and it was only a matter of time before--
"You're right." The Head of the Ministry nodded in agreement. This absurdity must be stopped. It has gone on long enough.
"It's time we pay Hogwarts a little visit."

Dragon Dancer II: Chapter 1: The Gentleman
The light colored facade and fanciful decor of the hundred-year-old Hotel Le Royal Monceau in Paris was truly fitting for spring. Principal Hilbert Ron Anjou tipped his hat in appreciation of the sight and at the doorman who greeted him with “Welcome back, sir.”
Master list
“It is truly a pleasure to be back!” He gestured behind him. “This is my new special student.”
The doorman, dark-skinned and appearing to be in his thirties, regarded the teenage girl standing behind him. She wore a white jacket, her shapely brown legs curving out from a pleated yellow short skirt that some men might eye, hoping for a glimpse of a little more. She was less than impressed with the gracious amenities, avoiding eye contact and fiddling with the tassels of her hood strings.
The doorman grinned anyway. “Well, a fine student she is.” He earned himself a tip for remaining cheery rather than concerned about her gloomy expression.
Anjou checked in. Though his hair and beard were white, he didn’t move like a man that old. His spine was straight, his limbs strong, his manner energetic and jovial. His eyes were focused and crisp. His voice was strong, despite his happy smoking of a Cuban cigar.
The hotel staff were clearly smitten with him, losing their stiff professional manner and laughing at his jokes, eyes glittering with mirth. Even though he wore a custom tailored suit that cost more than most people made in a year and wore rings of rare crystals -- some of alchemical make, so rare and so precious, they might as well have been alien -- they treated him as a friend.
That was Anjou’s charisma.
It wasn’t until they stepped into the gold mirrored elevator that that charisma faltered.
His student looked lost, unhappy, vulnerable, and achingly beautiful. Her slight figure added to her fae-like appearance. Anjou watched the elevator operator’s face flicker on her, his natural empathy and need to protect a fellow human welling up in his eyes.
The man surely had worked in this hotel long enough to know he shouldn’t ask questions. Anjou watched in wonder and allowed the man’s feelings to develop, chuckling internally as the sight of her worked its magic -- just as it did on Caesar on the Day of Liberty.
Like Caesar, this bellhop forgot where he was, forgot his duty, and was drawn into a disadvantageous position, risking his precious prize -- in this case, a tip.
“Uh… are you okay?”
She lifted her head, surprised to be addressed. Her wide eyes were like windows to her soul, easily read, hiding nothing.
“Yes… are… you alright?” He asked again, committing to his error.
She smiled at him. “Just a little sick from the flight. That’s all.”
Anjou’s eyes returned to the bellhop as he suddenly realized his blunder. To his credit, he didn’t apologize.
“I hope you understand sir…”
“Oh, I understand perfectly.” Anjou’s voice was so warm and reassuring that he might as well have reached over and patted this fully grown man on the head. “And I commend you on your brave spirit and humanity.”
Anjou took out his wallet and produced a tip of three hundred euros. “Here. Spend it well.”
The man let out a wheeze, eyes wide.”Yes. Thank you sir! Thank you… is there anything more I can…”
“I’ll take it from here.” Anjou interrupted, as the doors opened.
His student blessed the bellhop with one more smile, as she left the elevator. The man only broke her gaze after the doors attempted to close on him.
As soon as she arrived in her room, his student fled to her bedroom and shut the door. This was hard on her.  Normally, high ranking students were eager to get off campus and put their education to good use as well as take advantage of the plush amenities their rank afforded them. But she grew up in modest circumstances and only longed for things money couldn’t buy.
She’d bewitched the other S-ranked student, Lu Mingfei, into a deep friendship with her. She’d drawn the leader of Lionheart into being her lover and lured Caesar Gattuso into practically handing over Day of Liberty to her. Had he not gotten her off campus, he might have found himself without a school.
Everything she had accomplished didn’t apply here, however. She had no friends, no lover, and no influence. As far as she was concerned, Paris was a desert.
He pressed a key on his phone. The voice on the other end had a slight French accent over the otherwise impeccable English.
“Anjou, a day is too long to go without hearing your voice.”
“And it has been far too long, Capetian. The student and I have just arrived.”
“Excellent! Were there any problems?”
“None! The passport was flawless.”
“And the flight?”
“The weather could have not been better. Let’s hope it remains that way. Paris is making me fall in love all over again!” He chuckled. “Of course, every season is a good season in Paris. Have you located the others?”
“Yes, sir… they…”
Anjou stopped him. “Now, now… brief me tonight at dinner. I would like you to meet our young genius.”
After a few more loving goodbyes and reminders not to be late, Anjou hung up the phone and went to the bedroom.
She was Charlotte to strangers, Carli to friends, Meixiu to her lover. She was a young woman of many names. He referred to her most often however, as “my dear”. She was dear to him, having come out from the jaws of death and through sands of time to return to his school like a little turtle dove.
Her scowl reminded him, however, that she was actually a hybrid. First Generation, S-ranked, and just as much dragon as she was human. She was not pleased with him. He’d disrupted her plans to spend time in Chizuru with Chu Zihang and made no mystery of her love-sickness. He weathered her glare. “You’re free to stay here and rest while I make arrangements and prepare for the briefing meeting tonight. The mission itself won’t start for a few weeks while we prepare. Try to have a good time.”
She’d taken these arrangements personally and turned back to the window without speaking to him.
After the Day of Liberty, Caesar said that once he’d gotten close enough, she’d drawn him into darkness so forbidding that he thought he had truly died. When he returned to the land of the living, he was breathless, disoriented. She fought him like a wildcat, and then shot him like a dog.
He would savor these moments when she was still under his wing. He got the feeling they would be a memory all too soon.
Anjou adjusted his tie, donned his light trench coat and went out, leaving the “Do not Disturb” sign on the door.
He enjoyed his walk around the city, admiring the art and architecture, the comings and goings of tourists and natives. Women pushed strollers dressed in tracksuits, older men sat in the square and played chess. It was this idyll that was threatened. He needed her here, but was determined to make her first mission as pleasant as possible before the coming storm.
Just as he predicted, the rain started as the sun began to fall. He only went to the bar on a rainy night.
His student dressed up for the evening, in a modest designer black gown and a string of pearls. The afternoon nap seemed to have done wonders. She was smiling again. Her eyes were brighter. They made their way to the bar on the hotel roof.
The city’s sea of glittering lights and those of the Eiffel Tower drew a gasp from her.  He put his umbrella to the side and sat near the window. He smiled at the bartender. “How are you doing this year, my old friend?”
Capetian emerged from behind the bar, a glass on his platter. Thin and aged, his dark eyes weary under folds of skin, he smiled. “I’m well, old friend.”
The booths were lit by low hanging directional lamps between pools of shadow that provided privacy despite the open layout. It was next to impossible to hear what was going on at any other table. Something about the design of the place kept the noise down while at the same time, keeping close conversation clear.
The smell of the mint liquor wafted from the cocktail glass. Anjou raised his to his lips and sighed with nostalgia. His student eyed him, content to sit and watch him be happy. A menu was set before her and she looked it over.
The waiter, also older, and so pale he looked like a ghost in the lamplight, softly spoke. “I will be pleased to see to your needs this evening.”
She once again seemed shocked to be talked to. “Um… I need a little more time. Thanks.”
“I’ll take this year's caviar plate for a starter.” Anjou nodded.
The waiter bowed and faded back into the shadow.
Capetian took his seat next to Anjou, who produced a Havana cigar from his jacket pocket and snipped off the tip with a pocket knife. “The Bombay expedition was successful. We’ve found a dragon palace remarkably preserved under the slums. We are currently making our way through the catacombs. However, the dragon is not making it easy to find its chambers.”
He flicked his lighter against the cigar until the tip glowed. “We’ve never seen such a repository of draconic script. And the entry to the complex is predicated on our understanding of it. EVA has done her best with cataloging the known ciphers and arranging and organizing the unknown ciphers along with their context. But this requires a … human touch.” He let out a puff of blue-tinged smoke. “Have you arranged the safe house?”
His student turned to the waiter, ordering a mushroom risotto with a salad. But she was listening. He could tell.
Capetian described a spacious townhouse on the forested outskirts of Paris. At great expense, he’d purchased it, as well as leased the adjacent properties to provide maximum privacy and security for what was bound to be a long term project. He’d stocked the kitchen, installed a private network with direct access to EVA, and a complete off the grid power, water, and sewer system.
The waiter returned with the caviar platter. Anjou offered it to the student who cringed at the sight of the raw fish eggs. “Come now… you’re here to experience new things!”
While she hesitantly spooned a bit of the roe onto a cracker, Anjou settled on the Kobe beef tartare for his order.
“Have you contacted any of our agents yet?”
“Not yet, I wanted to make sure that nothing came up at the last minute. We’re spread thin here, almost all the agents are occupied with their own projects, but they understand that none are more urgent and pressing than this one. They are willing and available.”
He smiled and nodded. “Your cooperation is deeply appreciated.”
Capetian turned to the girl, watching her clumsily taste caviar for the first time. “And the girl… is she ready?”
“Charlotte?” This time Anjou couldn’t help but laugh, earning him a surprised look from Capetian. Everywhere she went, this uncertainty about her talents followed. He was shaking with laughter, wiping away tears. “Charlotte is the least of my concerns. My biggest concern is your agents’ capability of handling her.”
Capetian’s jaw dropped, “Pardon…?”
Anjou leaned on one elbow, tilting the ash into a silver tray. “She is the winner of the Day of Liberty, S-ranked, and is an essential asset to this mission. I’ll be assigning Agent Robertson to her care and safety. I’ll expect your agents to guard her with their lives and cater to her every request while she works.”
He drew a long puff from his cigar, relaxing to the flavor, the smoke pooling a moment in his mouth. “She has already killed. She can do so again. If they don’t believe me, then they may see for themselves if they try anything improper.”
Charlotte’s gaze lowered and she lost all interest in the caviar.
Capetian swallowed. “Understood, sir.”

5 Main Types of Plumbing Pipes Used in Homes
Whether hiring a plumber or taking on a do-it-yourself plumbing project, the experience can be confusing because of the choice of several types of plumbing pipes. Eventually, pipes' uses tend to blend together. Which type of pipe should be used for water supply, drainage, sewer, and even for the exterior? The answer is not as clear as it may have been in the past when the main pipes of choice were galvanized steel or cast-iron.
PEX Pipe
PEX, or cross-linked polyethylene, pipe is one of the newest and most popular pipes to hit the plumbing market. PEX is used only to supply water. PEX is a pipe that is rigid enough to withstand the pressures of water supply but flexible enough to weave throughout walls, ceilings, basements, and crawlspaces. PEX has truly delivered water-supply plumbing into the hands of do-it-yourselfers and professional plumbers.
Pros
Color-coded red for hot water and blue for cold water
Highly flexible, with 90-degree curves possible
Attaches with push-fit plumbing fittings, among other types
Inexpensive
Able to join with copper pipe
Cuts easily
Cons
Long-term capabilities untested
May leak with push-fit plumbing fittings
Cannot be recycled
PVC Pipe
PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, pipe is a drain or vent line type of plumbing pipe. PVC initially gained popularity because it was lighter and easier to work with than traditional galvanized steel pipe. PVC pipe is moderately easy to install and requires little more than a hacksaw and a miter box to cut. PVC glues together with solvents.
Pros
Diameters clearly marked on the white surface of the pipe
Inexpensive and can be used for long runs such as for irrigation
Easier to work with than steel or copper
Cons
The pipe cannot be unjoined and must be cut
Glued pipes can be prone to leaking
Degrades in sunlight
Rigid Copper Pipe
Rigid copper is often used for water supply lines within the home. Rigid copper is easily cut with a hacksaw or with a special copper tube cutter. The connection is a different matter, as it requires a practiced hand to solder copper pipe together. Rigid copper pipe is great for water supply because it does not come with any health risks.
Pros
Though it is called rigid, this pipe can be slightly bent
Handles heat well
Stands up against intense pressures
Easy to recycle and waste copper pipe even has monetary value
Cons
Difficult for do-it-yourselfers to work with due to soldered connections
Expensive
Develops pinhole leaks
Inside of pipe may eventually corrode and impede water flow
ABS Pipe
ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) pipe is mainly used as a vent and drain line. ABS pipe looks very much like PVC pipe, except that it is black and slightly softer.
Pros
Stronger than PVC pipes
Good for underground exterior use
Works well in cold temperatures
Cons
Often not permitted by building code
Warps and deforms at certain temperatures
Flexible Copper Pipe
Flexible copper pipe or tubing is used for final runs to water heaters, refrigerators, and some sinks. Flexible copper is used only for short runs and can be cut with ease with a hacksaw. It can be bent to fit around corners.
Pros
Fits in tight, unusually shaped areas
High heat tolerance
Cons
Expensive
Thin and prone to breaking
Galvanized Steel Pipe and Cast Iron
Two additional types of pipe are sometimes found in older homes and are infrequently installed, especially by do-it-yourselfers: steel and cast iron pipe.
Galvanized steel pipe was used for decades for drainage, water supply, gas supply, and any number of other purposes. While galvanized steel pipe is still around (particularly for gas supply) it is far less used and is never used for water supply in new construction or remodel projects. Each end of the pipe is threaded, and individual pipes are screwed into each other with connecting joints.
Cast iron pipe was often used for sewer and other drainage purposes. Cast iron pipe is still found in many homes. Cast iron pipe is viable until the point that it rusts completely through. Cast iron is very heavy and difficult to cut. Retrofits tend to replace cast iron pipe with rigid plastic pipes such as ABS.
Pros
Galvanized steel pipe has the advantage of being extremely strong.
Cons
Galvanized steel pipe eventually corrodes and blocks water flow.
Some galvanized steel pipe may pass lead into the water supply.

↬ “keep running home to you” flash!au — lee jeno.
Tumblr media
“In the start, Jeno thought he missed being the Flash since another person is The Flash in this new timeline, but as the time passed, he realized it wasn't just being the Flash that he's been missing, he misses the team Flash. (...) But above it all, he misses you.”
— part two & final part
— words: 2.5k
— warnings: I don’t know any of the NCT Dream members personally, I’m writing this based only in my opinions. I didn’t create any of the universe used in this story, all rights reserved to DC Comics.
— no proofread, sorry about any possible mistakes.
— I hope you guys can enjoy this story, I’m trying something different so I’m a little worried about it, but,,, you know,,, you don't know, sorry,,, please give Jeno all the love and appreciation in this world, the boy deserves it. *mark’s voice*: LET’S GET IT.
Tumblr media
After flash!jeno was finally back, everyone was congratulating him for today's victory, but you weren't feeling it and Jeno knew something was wrong. He didn't know exactly what, but he knew you enough to just know.
”Hey guys, can I have a moment alone with my beautiful girlfriend?” Jeno asked, taking his mask off so he could look at your eyes properly.
”Yeah, sure, just don't make out next to my computers, I took a long time to adjust them to the way they're right now.” vibe!donghyuck said in a fun tone, but the death glares from you and Jeno came anyways.
”Hyuck!” kidflash!jisung called his friend with his eyes wide open. ”I did not deserve to hear that, she's my sister!”
”Donghyuck, I love you but I’ll kill you if you even dare to repeat something like that again.” You said, already pointing his way out of the room. ”I’ll be heartless. I won't even care about the fact you're a hero and also my boyfriend's best friend.” You threatened him in a serious tone.
”Okay, noted it, I love my life. Bye bye lovebirds.” He quickly said before leaving the room.”
”Please, remind me again, why do we still have him in the team?” Jisung asked staring at Jeno like he was done with Haechan’s shit.
”Because we love him.” Jeno said with a sweet smile in his face.
”Because he's smart.” You added, making Jeno stares at you with that look. ”Okay, mostly because we love him, but only sometimes.”
”Okay, you're confusing me, time to leave, bye boss, bye Jeno. Run as fast as you can if she gives you the mad look.” Jisung said, running his way out and letting you and Jeno laughing behind.
When the two of you were finally alone, Jeno saw a certain look in your face, but it wasn't the mad one. It was the disappointed one, and that made him wants for a moment that you were actually mad at him, that look on your face was way worst.
“I know that face, what’s wrong?” Jeno asks in a worried tone.
You stared at Jeno, thinking about all the other things you could say. You didn't have to bring that issue to him, but you loved him too much to do that. You noticed something wasn't okay with him and you couldn't just forget it.
“I want you to come back in time.” You spilled out he words, not even knowing if you should be that straight to the point with him.
“What?” He asked, staring at you in complete confusion.
“Jeno, I know what you did earlier. For a single second, you were willing to die, like... you were actually considering not fighting that creepy. You could easily have arrested him, but you hesitated, I mean... the others in the team may not have noticed it, but I did. What were you thinking?! Jisung saved you today, but you could have died if he wasn't there to help you.” You continued in a serious tone while looking at your boyfriend.
Jeno stares you with a shocked face. You two did grow up together, but he didn’t think you could read his actions that easily. Silence is all both of you could hear.
“I know you’ve been asking yourself what is the limit of your abilities since we found out that you can travel in time and... I also know what’s stopping you from coming back to the night where your mom was murdered.” You took all the courage that existed inside of you to say that words. You have tried so hard not to think you were right, but when you saw Jeno's expression, you knew you weren't wrong... and how you wish you were.
“What are you talking about?”
“I hate seeing you hurt, you know that already, but seeing you deeply and emotionally hurt like this... it’s freaking killing me! You don’t give up, you never do, you’re fearless, kind and always put the others above yourself, but today you just... you could have died today Jeno and, I know that even if it was for a second, you didn’t think about yourself dying as a bad idea and that's the worst thing you could ever do. So please, don’t think about us, even if stopping your mom being killed will somehow make you and me not know each other, even if coming back in time will change all the timeline and all our history, even if you don’t know the consequences at all... do it. In my heart, I know I’ll always love you and that’s what’s stopping me from crying right now, because honestly? It hurts like hell to think about a life not meeting you, not growing up with you, not cheering up for your college finals, not being able to see you turn into the Flash... you truly make part of me. But if the possibility of having your mom in your life is the biggest thing in your heart right now, I’ll understand, I really will, I also lost my mom, but I’m not risking losing you to such a deep pain like this. I’m just not risking. So, if you really wanna do it, then do it, fast.” You said, not knowing how you were still staring at his eyes and standing on your feet at the same time. You felt like you were gonna break apart if you moved one single muscle. Those words were your biggest nightmare coming alive right in front of you. Letting him go was the hardest thing.
“You know what you’re saying to me right? If I stop the murder of my mom...” Jeno had started to say before he stopped himself after some seconds. The simple idea of it hurt him. He couldn't even look at your eyes. He was ashamed that someone knew his deepest thoughts like that. He didn't want you to think he wanted to leave you.
“I know. My dad won't adopt you, you won't grow up in my house, we won't be best friends for our entire life, we won't fall in love... I know. But if that's going to make you feel happy, truly happy, then It's okay.” You answered in a sweet tone of voice, holding Jeno's cheek with one of your hands. Tears were dropping your face, but a smile could've still be seen on your face. You really love Jeno that much. That much to the point of letting him go. You weren't letting him into the arms of another random woman. You were setting him free to go to his mother. The most important person in his life.
”I don't want to leave you.” Jeno said in a lower tone in his voice, he was trying so hard not to cry, he wanted to say you were wrong but he would be lying. As always, you're right. You have always been right since you two were kids. He could not even think about lying to you.
“And I don’t want you to live an unhappy life.” Your forehead was in his forehead and you could also feel his tears, some of them falling in your lips.
“I love you.” Jeno whispered, holding you in his arms like it was the only thing he could possibly do.
“I love you too. After everything we’ve gone through together, you deserve to come back home, just don’t forget I love you. Even in another crazy and unknown timeline, I’ll still love you.”
That was the last thing you said before Jeno had kissed you. That is everything Jeno can think about since he traveled back in time and changed his past. He thought he wouldn’t remember you and his older life, but he does.
Now, he’s at home with his family, but somehow it doesn’t feel like home, not without you with him.
Sometimes he goes to your house just to stare at your room's window. Sometimes he almost knocked at your door, but that was the closest thing he's ever done to get close to you. It is honestly funny. Jeno knows your favorite color, your favorite tv show, your favorite ice cream flavor... He knows you like he knows the traces of his hand, but he still can get close to you without feeling like an idiot.
You don't remember him. You guys went to the same school your whole life, but he knows you don't even know his name. Your father is still friends with his dad, but that's just it.
You and him are nothing else.
But the two of you used to be everything in the past timeline and he misses it so damn much.
Somehow, Jeno didn't lose his speed. When he came back to the present after he had stopped his mom from being killed, everything was different, except for his speed. Even his mind was different, he now has memories of this new timeline, memories that he didn't live but that are hella real for him as like he did live them.
He has a lot in his mind, literally. He has a whole new timeline and even if he does love to get home and see his mom happy and alive, something isn't right inside of him. Something is missing.
In the start, Jeno thought he missed being the Flash since another person is The Flash in this new timeline, but as the time passed, he realized it wasn't just being the Flash that he's been missing, he misses the team Flash. He misses vibe!donghyuck, one of his best friends, being the stupid himself with all the jokes and random names for the villains. He misses training kidflash!jisung in his speed. He misses killerfrost!yeri taking care of him after some mission that hurt him. But above it all, he misses you. Some months ago, you had quit your job after you entered the team and the fact that you had a leader in yourself that Jeno just got to see when you entered the Team Flash, surprised him in a good way. He was so proud of you.
”Hey son, are you okay?” Nora's voice, his mom's voice, sounds in his head making an automatic smile. appear in Jeno's face. ”You’ve been staring at this journal of yours since you woke up.”
”Yeah, don't worry, it's no big deal. I found this last night inside of an old box.” He answers, closing the notebook so he can look at his mom.
”You used to write on this every night when you were a kid. Sometimes when you had more time you even drew in it. It was one of your most precious possessions since you wrote about Y/n in there.”
”What?” Jeno wide open eyes stare at his mom when he hears your name.
”C’mon Jeno, you really thought I didn't know about your childhood crush? I'm not your mom for nothing!” Nora's laugh invades the room while she sits next to her son.
”Of course not.” Jeno quickly answers in a serious tone, that last sentence seems to somehow break his heart.
”You still feel something for her, right?” His mom asks in a sweet tone of voice.
”I think I'll never stop feeling something for her.” Jeno sincerely answers, holding to himself his secret thought: ”Not even in another timeline.”
”Well, you should talk to her someday, she's a very nice young lady, I'm sure she would like to talk to you.” Nora encourages him with a beautiful smile on her face.
”I think I'm afraid of a making a fool of myself.” Jeno answers with a little pout on his lips, making his mom smiles at it.
”Oh honey, you could never make a fool of yourself.” His mom answers before giving him a kiss on his head.
After talking with his mom, Jeno decides to take a walk. Staying in his home was just making him go crazy anyway, so he had to leave it for a while. Now, he's passing in front of the cafeteria where he used to buy coffee for the Team Flash. That place is one of the things that didn't change in this new timeline. It is somehow comforting for Jeno to know that a piece of his old life is still here.
”Y/n, wait!” A voice screams making Jeno automatically turn back in his full speed, only to see a car almost hitting you.
Jeno knows he can't let you or anyone else realize that he's a speedster, but now? Nothing of that matters.
”Are you okay?” It's all Jeno is capable of saying after he had jumped with you to another side of the street where you are safe. Being that close to you again is making Jeno's throat feel dry.
”Yeah, I think so.” You answer feeling a little confused as you look into Jeno's eyes. ”Thank you, stranger. I think you just saved my life.”
For a second it is like nothing has changed. Jeno is staring at your eyes and he can't hold back the thoughts of how much your eyes still glow as much as he can remember. He's been in this new timeline for almost six months, but he never forgot how addicting your eyes are. You're still the most beautiful woman he's ever seen in his entire life.
One second is all he needs to reassure him how much you're still the one.
”Y/n!” Yeri calls for you, making Jeno —who was in the top of you— wake up from that blessed second that you two hold eye contact and as much as he wants to enjoy the feeling of being next to you again, he knows that's just not like things work now.
”Yeri!” You say after Jeno helped you getting up on your feet, going strictly to her arms.
”What happened?” Jisung voice emerges as he gets out of the cafeteria with a confused and worried look on his face.
”A random car almost hit me.” You answer feeling a little dizzy after you’re out of Yeri's arms.
”What? What do you mean a car almost hit you? Are you okay?”
”Jisung, I'm fine, but I think the one we're looking for is behind that steering wheel.” You say in a worried tone after being hugged by your brother.
An alert —that Jeno recognizes since it was the same in his old timeline— sounds in Jisung's phone, indicating that something is wrong in the city.
”Okay, you're probably right about that.” Jisung says after checking on his phone, directing his eyes at Jeno. ”Thank you so much for saving my sister.”
”No need to thank me.” Jeno says, feeling happy to see Jisung again.
”Guys, we need to go now.” Yeri says in a warning tone.
”I’m sorry, thank you again for everything, I'm really really really grateful.” You say looking straight into Jeno's eyes and feeling something weird in your chest right after.
Jeno just smiles as he watches you, Yeri and Jisung turning around the corner until he hears someone running in full speed right after.
Now he knows who's the Flash in this timeline and he feels damn proud of Jisung.
He just couldn't expect it to be the last time he saw Jisung alive.

➾ summary: Park Jimin knows a lot about humans. of course he does, he studies them for a living. he knows that they say hello by holding hands, and when they say goodbye, they put their arms around each other. but this particular human, he notes, is unlike the rest- stuck in a slump, going about your day praying for the Universe to stage an intervention in the form of an alien abduction. when he decides to finally fulfil your wishes, he finds that you have a little something to teach him about what it means to live life on Earth the way you do: ugly crying, underwear and all. in return, he shows you the possibilities that abound if you simply adopted their mantra: everything is beautiful, and nothing hurts.

You have no idea why Jimin wakes you up in what you deem to be the middle of the night, hastily wiping drool from your mouth when the blonde shakes you awake. Having been a heavy sleeper all your life, he practically has to drag you out of bed and halfway down the hallway before you’re awake.
“Wh-where are we going?”
Jimin doesn’t reply, only motions for you to keep it down as he slides his arm around your waist to support your weight. His warmth against your side feels nice, and still half asleep, you turn to bury your face into the crook of his neck, imagining that it’s your pillow instead. A smile tugs at the corners of his lips, you’re adorable in your drowsiness, but Jimin can’t risk getting caught. A thought occurs to him that it would have been so much easier to just teleport, but with your soft lips against his skin like this, igniting a breathlessness in his chest that burns at his lungs.
He deems it more efficient if he carries you, so with one arm around your waist and the other tucked beneath your legs, he presses you close into his chest as he exits the mansion successfully, feet bare against the cold dirt. With his heart pounding in his chest, he can only hope it doesn’t stir you awake as he skirts around the edges of the mansion to the hangar that sits behind it, thanking the heavens that Yoongi hadn’t thought to increase the security measures here yet.
Jimin authorises his entrance and slips inside covertly, breathing a sigh when the doors close behind him. Just for good measure, he inputs a security code to lock the hangar from the inside before he glances down at you, face tucked into his chest.
There is a strange fluttering in his stomach as he searches the fleet of spacecraft till he finds his own private one, tucked behind the larger, heavy duty aircrafts designed for warfare. Every alien has their own personal spacecraft, but they rarely ever use it, instead opting to deploy the standard issue ones built for military purposes.
It’s a little outdated and small, but it feels like home, a private space only he’s privy to. Although he’s never found a need for it until now.
Jimin sets you down gently on one of the passenger seats before taking the captain’s seat, flicking on the controls and warming up the spacecraft. The next time he glances over at you, you’re awake and watching him man the controls, eyes lingering on the toned muscles of his biceps.
“Are we going somewhere?” You tear your eyes away from him to observe the interior of the spaceship. It’s smaller, looks less impressive than the one you arrived in, and from what you observed as Jimin carried you in just now, there seems to be space for only the captain’s cabin, no extra cargo holds or passenger space. “Or are you taking me back to Earth?”
“Do you want to go back?” Jimin worries his bottom lip as he meets your gaze.
“No!” You answer a little too vehemently, taking a moment to calm yourself. “No, I don’t want to go back. I want to stay here.” With you.
“I’m afraid that might not be the best case scenario for you, Earthling.”
“W-why not?”
Jimin can’t help but grin over at you when you ask your favourite question. But his smile doesn’t reach all the way to his eyes, as worry pervades the situation at hand. “Earthling, it’s not safe here for you.”
“Because of how the Universe ends?”
“No, although partially yes,” his answer only confuses you, but Jimin reaches over to pull your seat closer to him so that your knees are touching. “Earthling, you need to stay hidden for the next couple of days. Soon, the colony of females will be sent over for mating season. Although they are not threatening in any way, I can’t predict what their reaction will be if they know of your existence. And I prefer it that nothing happens to you.”
“Oh,” you glance down at the way his knee brushes against your thigh. “Hoseok told me about this. Are you- are you going to be taking part in it too?”
Your expression is calm, betraying nothing as you wait for his reply, but Jimin knows better than to rely on your facial expressions. He picks up an undercurrent of unhappiness that tastes bitter on his tongue, but strangely enough, all he is more than relieved to know this.
“I’m sure he did, but maybe he left out some details. Unlike you Earthlings, we reproduce for the sake of propagating our species. The emotion called love is not involved at all, unlike how it is for you.”
“But are you participating in it too?” When he doesn’t answer your question right away, you shift to turn your seat away from him to put some distance in between you, fearful that he might pick up on the nervous fluttering in your stomach that threatens to swallow you whole.
“No, I’m not. Not this time.” But Jimin won’t let you pull away that easily, and he grabs the arm rest of your seat.
“And why not?”
“Because,” Jimin reaches over to pull you out of your seat, settling you snugly into his lap with his arms tight around your hips and your lips only inches away from his. You brace your arms on his shoulders, fully aware that you’re sitting on his lap in the most intimate way. “I’ve found that I’m already occupied with someone else.”
And then he pulls you down to meet his lips, craving the sweet taste of your essence once more, your soft moans gracing his ears as he tightens his hold around your waist, afraid that you’ll slip away if he lets go. He is unfamiliar with the techniques of kissing, but you quickly show him the ropes with your tongue gently swiping against his bottom lip, teasing and exploring his mouth in a way that drives him wild.
When he pulls away, his already plush lips are blossom pink and swollen, and no human male has ever looked more beautiful than Jimin does right now. His eyes are alight with the glow of a million galaxies lit up only for you, reverent gaze trained on your bitten lips, marks illuminated with a incandescent rosy hue that sings hymns of his devotion to you and you only. Park Jimin is ethereal, and he resembles an angel from heaven who plucked you out of the depths of hell.
“You’re beautiful,” you gasp as his lips seek to explore the column of your neck, dipping past the neckline of your sleep shirt to dance kisses on your collarbone.
“That’s my line,” he pushes your shirt up to reveal the plain pair of underwear you’d been provided with, and a smirk dances across his lips at the sight. “Nice underwear.”
“Shut up,” you grin back, grinding your hips against him with a fluid motion that does indeed render him speechless. His fingers grip the flesh of your hips hard enough to bruise, but you relish the carnal way in which he gropes your ass, urging you to repeat that motion again.
And you’re not one to deny him, especially not when he starts suckling bruises that line your collarbone and dip down into your breasts, so you rotate your hips against him once more, and his answering groans are nothing less than cherubic. You can feel him start to grow under you, and the bulge in his pants feels absolutely delicious under your heated core.
“Wait, ____,” he murmurs into your ear, sliding a hand down your belly to dip into your underwear. “Want to touch you here.”
He’s met with a slick dampness that coats his fingers thoroughly as he slides between your folds, utterly amazed at how silky and warm they are. Jimin’s fingers are thick, but elegant as they locate your clit with ease, which makes your hips jerk in response.
“J-Jimin, wait, do you know how to-“
But he cuts you off with two fingers surrounding your clit, rubbing sinfully as he reaches with his other hand to slide your shirt up over your head. “I know more than you think I do, after all, I have been watching you for a while now.”
Your cheeks heat up at the mention of it, especially when his fingers swirl over your clit in a way that only you know, and his lips wrap around one of your nipples and suck hard. This is a surefire way to get you to cum in minutes, one that you resort to after a particularly stressful day, and Jimin makes sure to use this knowledge to his advantage as he drives you crazy with his fingers and tongue.
A particular twist of his fingers inside you, coupled with his palm against your clit in a tantalizingly sweet pressure has you coming undone around his fingers. The clenching of your walls around his fingers has him smirking. “I remember you particularly liked this.”
“Fucking pervert,” you whisper breathlessly into his neck.
“You love it, you’re dripping all over me and the seat,” Jimin grins in response, fingers sliding over to dip into your core teasingly. “Can I try something?”
When you nod in response, he motions to you to help him take his shirt off, and you oblige, hands running over his firm torso in appreciation as the garment drops to the floor. His abs tense under your fingers, and you dip your head to leave kisses on his bare chest, laving your tongue around his nipple to reciprocate.
And that’s when you notice it- two slits on either side of his body, just under his arms. And then two dark appendages make their appearance, seemingly sentient in the way they curve and arch toward your bare body, but pausing just before they make contact.
“Can I?” Jimin holds his breath tight as he glances up at you, the way you’re watching his curling limbs hover near your heaving chest, desperate to feel your silky skin, tease your nipples and mark your beautiful skin so that everyone knows you belong to him. “Can I touch you, angel?”
The sight of it only shocks you a little, and you never thought you’d be turned on by how solid and thick they look, their rounded tips igniting a flare in your lower stomach as you can’t help but imagine how it would feel inside you. But more so than anything else is the sight of Jimin under you, eyes ablaze with carnal lust as he scents your dripping arousal, yet his fingers are soft and gentle against your waist, holding you as if you might fall apart without his touch.
“Please,” the word barely makes it out of your mouth as one of the appendages slides just under your breasts, feeling the weight of them as the other wraps around your waist tight, not enough to restrict your breath, but enough to make you feel small in Jimin’s grasp, enfolded and held like the most precious treasure.
“So pretty for me,” Jimin occupies himself with the neglected nipple as one of his limbs fondle the other. “Take these off? Want to see you, angel.”
Reaching for the sides of your underwear, you raise your hips above him to slide them off, the appendage around your waist helping to support your weight as Jimin discards the underwear to the floor. His eyes are immediately drawn to your damp core, and his fingers stroke your lips reverently.
Jimin stands abruptly, turning to place you on his seat and get down on his knees so he can better sample the nectar that drips from your core, calling for him to worship it with his lips and tongue. With tentative licks, he laps up your arousal, spreading your lips apart for better access, sliding your thighs over his shoulder. In the throes of his delight at tasting you, he discovers that you like indirect stimulation the best, and the warm wetness of his tongue just makes everything so messy, but he doesn’t mind at all.
Above him, spread out for him in such an obscene position, you can’t help but blush. But any thoughts of embarrassment are chased away by the tentacles that caress your breasts, teasing your nipples with their damp tips that almost resembles the sensation of Jimin’s tongue.
The simultaneous stimulation is too much, and as Jimin slides two fingers in deep to feel the tightness of your walls, you crash down around him, whining and sobbing as you buck against his hold. The resulting tremble of your thighs around his head and the way your pussy clenches hard around his fingers has his cock throbbing with need, and it’s all Jimin can do to hold himself back as he helps you ride out your orgasm, head thrown back into his seat, with his appendages caressing your bare breasts.
Jimin withdraws his fingers and places a kiss on your inner thigh as he glances up at your half lidded eyes.
“Good?”
His cocky smirk makes you roll your eyes at him, sitting up and trying to catch your breath as you close your legs. His tentacles withdraw their touch from your breasts, skimming down your side and soothing you with their gentle touches. But then you notice the bulge in his slacks, and reach for him, palming him greedily.
Jimin’s tentacles immediately stiffen in response as he groans, and you shift off the chair onto your knees as you work to rid him of his pants. The first glance of him assures you that he’s similar to most human males, except he might be one of the thickest you’ve ever had. What he lacks in length, he more than makes up for in girth, and you press a fluttering kiss to the underside of his head, glancing up at him through your lashes.
“I’ve always wanted to join the mile high club, but this isn’t how I envisioned it,” you comment with a wry grin as he steps out of his pants, only to be met with a puzzled frown.
“Mile high club? Wh-“ Jimin questions, only to be cut off with a gasp as you enclose your hand around his dripping length.
“Might wanna sit down for this,” you shoot him a cocky grin of your own, and although Jimin can’t for the life of him imagine why, he obeys and positions himself on the floor, about to ask but-
A wet, warm sensation engulfs the head of his cock, and he bucks his hips immediately, groans pouring from his lips as you sink your mouth down on him. He is thick, and you can’t get more than the head past your lips, but the salty sweetness of him floods your mouth and you can’t get enough of it.
Jimin’s thighs are trembling, tentacles whipping through the air as you suckle around his head teasingly. Now he knows why you had him lie down for this.
“Come here, angel, want to see you,” he groans, reaching for your hips and prompting you to turn so that he can get a good handful of your ass as you continue to take more of him into your mouth. He spreads your cheeks obscenely, fingers running down your lips. “So wet, and so pretty for me.”
With his palms on your cheeks, you feel the brush of one of his appendages against your inner thigh, travelling higher until they brush against your soaked lips. You can only moan around a mouthful of his cock, arching your back and pushing your ass higher in the air as he keeps your cheeks spread with his hands, allowing him an unobstructed view of your clenching pussy and asshole.
One of the appendages dips into your pussy first, gathering the wetness before sliding in a little deeper, its bulbous tip stretching your entrance. Combined with your wet suckles around his cock, Jimin pants heavily as he attempts to restrain himself, feeling your walls tighten around his limb as it surges into you further.
Tears are gathering in your eyes as you sink down on his cock further, relaxing your throat as you feel him twitch and his thighs tremble, running soothing, reverent fingers over this thighs and hips. Drawing away for a breath, you watch a trickle of precum slide down his length and lean down to lap it up, teasing your tongue with kitten licks as you approach his base. The other limb slides along your side, hesitant, and you reach a hand back to welcome it. It curls to meet your palm, but changes course to your breasts, nestling in between your flesh for a moment before you understand what it wants. With two hands you squeeze your soft flesh around his appendage, feeling it slide sinfully between the globes of your breasts as you lean over to take Jimin’s cock back in your mouth.
The burn in your pussy reminds you of his exploring tentacle as it slides deep into you, and you can feel the tip of it curling against itself as it spreads you, deeper than you’ve ever felt before until it hits your cervix, causing you to wince in slight discomfort. Jimin soothes you with fingers on your inner thighs, admiring the arch in your spine as your lips are spread wide for him, watching the way your pussy takes him so well.
“Fuck, wish you had this view, angel, your pussy looks so gorgeous when it’s filled up like this,” Jimin gropes your ass hard, feeling your lips curve around his cock.
You’re a little distracted with the appendage that stretches your aching walls, but you force yourself to take Jimin’s cock into your throat at least once, feeling his hot, pulsing head hit the back of your throat as you gag noisily around him. Spit and precum are running down your chin as you withdraw again, the tentacle probing your cervix gently before sliding out, dripping with your arousal.
Jimin sits up then, hands around your hips as he presses kisses to your neck, turning you around to face him. “Can’t wait anymore, want to feel you, angel. Come here.”
He turns you around, appendages sliding around your body to caress your skin as he seals his lips to yours. You reach down to stroke his member, feeling precum spill over your hand as he moans into your mouth. You prop yourself up onto your knees to guide him to your entrance, feeling his thick head, thicker than his extra limbs, push against you as you struggle to fit him.
“So tight, my angel, relax for me, that’s it,” he soothes you with whispers in your ear as his hands situate themselves on your waist, guiding you down to take him inch by glorious inch, relishing as he spreads you apart slowly. “You feel so good, just like I knew you would, made just for me.”
You can only whimper his name as he urges you to take him all the way to his base, and once you’re fully seated, you feel one of his appendages glide around your neck, wrapping around it loosely as he begins to roll his hips up into you tentatively. You open your eyes once more to be greeted with the sight of his imploring eyes, marks glowing a light rose hue as he fucks up into you with his flexible hips.
“Is this okay?” He whispers into your skin as his tentacle tightens around your throat, hands possessively wrapped around your waist.
“Make me yours, Jimin.”
And with that, he finally stops holding himself back, flipping the both of you so that his hips are framed by your thighs as he drives his cock deep into your pussy with every single thrust. The drag of his thick member against your walls steals the breath from your lungs, as he pounds your pussy relentlessly. Jimin pushes one of your thighs up to your chest, groaning when you tighten around him in response. With his cock pounding into your pussy, a mix of his precum and your arousal drips down to your puckered hole, and his remaining tentacle approaches with intrigue, brushing against your asshole and spreading your juices copiously.
The first breach makes you gasp against his lips, you’re already so full from just his cock, but something inside you wants to be filled even more by this blonde angel, and you arch your hips into him, begging and pleading for him to take your ass. The tentacle pushes into the tight ring of muscle, aided by your arousal and its natural lubrication, and Jimin has to force himself to slow down his pace as he feels your muscles clench around him so tight that he nearly loses his load.
To distract himself, he lavishes kisses on your already bruised chest, marking it with his lips as you adjust to the intrusion. But as soon as you arch your hips toward his with a pretty moan of his name, he resumes his punishing pace once more, hands spreading your legs wide apart as his cock continues to ravish your tattered pussy, hitting your cervix with every thrust, and his tentacle enjoying the warmth of your insides as it mimics the rhythm of Jimin’s hips.
“Feel so good, angel, you’re so perfect, ahhh fuck,” Jimin’s breathing is growing laboured as he struggles to control himself, feeling himself swell inside your warm, velvety depths. “Are you going to come for me, my pretty angel?”
“Yes, fuck, please make me cum, Jimin- ahh- I can’t-“ your whines and moans are unintelligible in your desperation.
“Then cum all over me, ____.”
All it takes is your name leaving his lips to send you over the edge, your body convulsing as you clench hard around him, sobbing as white hot pleasure ignites every single nerve. The appendage around your neck presses down on your throat ever so slightly, restricting your airflow just enough to heighten the sensation of ecstasy that shoots down your spine and curls your toes. Your eyes are tightly clenched shut, nothing but supernovas of white light engulfing your senses as euphoria fills every single pore until you’re boneless, weak in his arms.
The sinful pressure of your tightening walls around him is too much for Jimin, sending his hips crashing into yours sloppily as he reaches for his high as well, cock swelling and his balls throbbing as he releases inside you, cum painting your walls white as he fills you up. The tentacle in your ass engorges with spurts of cum as well, although much less than his cock as Jimin continues to ride out his orgasm, cum dripping down onto the floor as he fills you beyond the brim. The limb currently fucking itself between your breasts spurts cum all over your flesh, making the glide so much more sticky, and you can feel him dripping all over you.
“Fuck, I haven’t come like that before,” Jimin pants in your ear, feeling his cock throb weakly inside you as the last few spurts of his cum are accompanied by gentle, lazy thrusts.
The feeling of his warm cum inside you leaves you strangely content as you cradle his body, legs wrapped around his waist. When he finally slips out of you, his appendages withdraw as well as he sits back on his knees, admiring his handiwork as he spreads your cum-stained thighs apart. Jimin runs his fingers through the thick substance that drips down your entrance, pushing it back inside you. When he deems it not enough, he grasps the base of his still hard cock to catch a glob of cum on your inner thigh, guiding it back to your core and pushing it deep with a thrust. His extra appendages also see it fit to help out, gathering the cum that resides on your thighs and swollen lips to push it back into your asshole, even as Jimin continues to thrust lazily inside your pussy, lips seeking yours in a needy whine.
But the hard floor is uncomfortable, and you let him know this with a playful nip to his lower lip. “You know, now would be a good time for you to put those teleportation powers to good use. I don’t know why you didn’t just teleport here actually.”
Jimin presses his lips to yours just to shut your smart mouth up. “You’re lucky I love you so much, angel. If not I would have fed you to the Jabberwocky a long time ago.”
“What’s that?” You try to grab on to him to stop him from leaving when he pulls away, reaching for some tissues to clean up the mess on his spacecraft that the both of you made.
“Just something we use to get rid of unwanted test subjects,” Jimin grins as your face pales. “Just kidding!”
He hands you your clothes, but you roll your eyes. “Why need to get dressed if you’re just going to teleport us straight into my room?”
Jimin pauses, a cute little frown decorating his forehead as he chews on his lower lip. “I guess you’re right, Earthling.”
He reaches for you, one arm under around your waist and the other under your thighs. But when he spots the mess that still lingers between your legs, he can’t help but swipe a finger through it and slide it into his mouth with a teasing smirk.
“Don’t forget what this means, angel. You’re mine now.”
*
You must have fallen asleep in Jimin’s arms as he was teleporting the both of you back to your room, because the next time you open your eyes, you’re buried in a mound of soft sheets that smell exactly like him.
There is a pounding in your head not unlike one of a hangover, and you close your eyes again. A small movement to your left tells you that Jimin is still sharing the bed with you, so you move in his general direction till your cheek hits the warm smooth expanse of what feels like his chest.
Maybe you can stay here on this planet forever, cocooned into safety in his arms like this until the Universe ends, and beyond that, into whatever comes next. That you might be able to call this place home because it lets you defy all the laws of time and space that threaten to outpace every single beat of your aching heart, tethering you to a dreary existence filled with uncertainty and fear. For a moment, it feels like everything might be alright again.
Jimin stirs insistently beside you, lips against your ear as he explores the delicate curve of it.
“You’re feeling something… what is this feeling? I don’t recognise it, it’s not nostalgia.”  Jimin murmurs inquisitively, his deep voice sending a surge of contentment within your chest.
You peel open your eyes only to catch a glimpse of his messy blonde hair strewn all over his eyes, marks glowing a gentle magnolia, lips swollen from your kisses and neck covered in ruby red and wine blossoms. You pick out his features all too easily amidst the dim lighting of your room.
“Describe it to me,” you mouth into the space between his collarbones, breath gentle against his heated skin.
“It’s like the warmth on the first day of spring after a long winter that warms you from the inside out, starting from here,” Jimin brings his hand up, settling his palm over your where your heart thrums contentedly in your chest. “Or when you find yourself enshrouded by darkness, but that tiny little candle that you lit with its flickering flame glows bravely, and you wield it against the unknown that lies ahead.”
You pull back slightly to glance at his curious eyes, brushing aside his hair so you can see the way his eyes are alight with the glow of a million suns, his smile igniting a fierce warmth deep in your bones.
“Hope, that feeling is hope.”
*
Jimin stirs you awake again, but this time, he is getting dressed, back turned away from you so you get an amazing view of his supple ass as he bends over to put on his pants. A hot curl of lust wraps around your core tight, which makes Jimin turn around with an affronted look on his face.
“Hey, I didn’t ask to be objectified like this.” He pulls the fabric up over his ass, concealing it from your view as he leans over to hover his lips above your forehead. He can feel the slight dampening of your spirits, but grins again when you chase his lips. “The ceremony for the female colony’s arrival is happening soon. I have to attend, keep up some semblance of normalcy amidst everything that’s going on. You should stay here.”
Jimin tucks the covers around you more securely.
“Are they here already?” You observe his marks turn into a shade of ominous grey. “Can’t you just stay here? Till it’s over?”
“I can’t, angel. They’ll suspect something is up, and I’m already taking too much of a risk by not participating in the breeding rituals this year. They can’t know about us.” Jimin reiterates with a brush of his fingers against your cheek. “Wait for me here? I’ll come back once it’s all over.”
You only nod in response as he steps away from the bed, but at the last moment, you reach out and grab his hand tightly, interlocking your fingers with his so he can’t go any further.
Jimin stops, surprised, but his features melt into a charming grin when he sees what you’ve done. “I know what this means. It means: ‘stay with me’, right?”
“So you were listening in!” You accuse him with a wry smile, and he matches it with an abashed chuckle as his eyes crinkle with amusement.
“And this,” he loosens your grip on his fingers until he can manipulate his pinky into the crook of your own, “means ‘I promise’. So I promise I won’t leave you.”
He squeezes your pinky hard, and for a moment you’re left breathless at the way he makes your heart skip a beat in pure exhilaration, but also how his smile could replace all the stars in the night sky. Jimin steps away, and your fingers slide out of his, dropping against the sheets with a thud. But before he lets himself out, he pauses for a second.
“Oh, and one more thing.”
You crane your neck over to look at him, expecting him to say something about how you should never leave this room, it’s for your safety, and all that nonsense, but it never comes. Instead, a voice reverberates inside your head from a place you never knew existed, a place you can’t even pinpoint. But the voice in itself is familiar, and that’s all that matters.
I love you.
And then he’s gone.
Your mind is whirling, struggling to keep up with the barrage of thoughts that are forcing themselves upon you. How did this telepathic connection suddenly appear, and why weren’t you aware of it?
Now that you think about it, the pounding in your head from earlier has settled down into a dull hum, but it isn’t a headache. It’s more like the presence of someone else residing in that tiny little corner, their consciousness existing alongside yours and occasionally brushing against the fringes of your awareness.
Can you hear me? You frantically reach out again, having no idea how this connection works and simply hoping that you’re doing it right.
Calm down, ____, his reply comes instantly, and you sag against the sheets. I can hear every single thing you’re thinking of, and it was that overwhelming that I nearly walked into a wall.
His voice is still the same, teasing you as if he’d spoken it aloud into your ear.
How did this happen?
After I brought us back to the room, I noticed another telepathic pathway that wasn’t there before, but I wasn’t sure till I tried it on you, Jimin muses. This has never happened before.
Does that mean you can keep contact all through the ceremony? You ask hopefully, letting out a shaky breath you didn’t even know you’d been holding.
No, I can’t risk my brothers discovering our connection, so I’ll have to shut it down in their presence. You can almost picture the look of regret he has now, humming a low apology in his throat. Yoongi is more astute than he lets on.
You say nothing for a moment, swallowing hard as you imagine the cold, stony faced alien and what he’d do to you, or worse, Jimin, if he ever found out about this. Okay. Come back soon?
As soon as I can, angel. Stay safe.
And those are his last words before he shuts off the connection, and then your mind feels empty without him, smaller too, like walls of your room that are slowly but surely closing in on you.
*
You don’t have a clock in your room, in fact, there’s no sign of any time keeping device on this entire planet whatsoever. So it feels like an eternity since Jimin has stepped out of the safety of your room.
On a planet where time and space bend around non-existent rules, waiting is the most horrendous form of torture.
You consider just opening the door and peeking out into the hallway, but the thought that Yoongi might be lurking around outside keeps you buried under the covers in relative safety. You trust that Jimin has taken the necessary precautions to keep you safe, so you don’t even get up to try and test the lock on the door.
Until footsteps sound outside, and your door rattles against the force applied on it.
For a moment, your heart leaps in elation, thinking that it might be Jimin, but then you hear unfamiliar voices. The dark, empty recesses of your mind tells you that he still hasn’t opened the connection back up, which means that he’s still attending that ceremony, and that outside your door is-
“Get out of the fucking way. I’ll do it.”
The voice sends a shiver down your spine, because you recognise it to be Min Yoongi’s.
Your eyes dart around the room, searching for some sort of weapon that you can defend yourself with, but you come up empty. All you have in terms of personal belongings is your phone, and you don’t see yourself bludgeoning anyone to death with that any time soon.
You only have seconds till the door bursts open, so you shove it into your waistband hastily, glancing up to meet the cold, venomous gaze of Min Yoongi.
Standing behind him is Jeongguk, and an unfamiliar alien. The third alien looks vastly different from those that you’ve seen so far, its features are smaller, sharper and more delicate. It also has a smaller frame, though still possessing wiry muscles.
That’s when it hits you; it must be a member of the female colony.
Yoongi turns to Jeongguk. “Seize her.”
Panic rises in your throat as Jeongguk advances towards you, and you try to slip out of his grasp, but the raven haired alien is far too agile for you. His hands clamp down around your arm in a punishing grip, hauling you off the bed and to your feet. Your strength is no match for him as he captures your arms behind your back.
“This is the human specimen I was referring to.” Yoongi says, nodding towards you
The female alien purrs low in her throat, silky black hair tossed over her shoulder as she inspects you closely. “I must say, it took you long enough to surrender her to us. You had me threatening to declare war on you before you finally relented… After all, considering her gender, don’t you think it is fitting that we have custody over her instead?”
Yoongi grins amicably, although there is a certain hardness to his jaw. “Forgive me, Seulgi, but I was facing some… obstacles.”
And with that he gestures to Jeongguk, and you’re shoved out the door with the two other aliens trailing behind you.
The empty void of your mind mocks you as you scream helplessly and soundlessly. Jimin can’t hear you.
“Say, Yoongi, would you happen to have a room I can borrow? I’ll need to conduct some… tests to make sure she can withstand the journey back home. No point bringing home a dead Earthling, right?” She chuckles with a strand of hair wrapped around her finger.
“Of course. Right this way.” Yoongi accedes to her request at once, and Jeongguk forces you to make a left turn before stopping you at a door you’ve never seen before. Unlike Jimin or Hoseok’s labs, this one is completely ordinary looking, but it looks reinforced with steel that renders it completely unbreachable.
Yoongi steps past you to enter a series of long, unintelligible security codes, before his appendages emerge from the slits on either side of his ribs to complete the authentication process. You watch in horror as the damp tips of his extra limbs press against the security pad, and it beeps to grant him access.
“All yours.”
Jeongguk takes your arm and walks you into the brightly lit room that seems to resemble the interior of a hospital. There is a pristine looking single sized bed in the middle of the room, but the rest of it is non-descript. You are shoved towards it, Jeongguk taking you by the waist and lifting you onto the bed when you near it. Yoongi closes the door and latches it behind him.
Seulgi steps closer to you, pushing you down by the shoulders as Jeongguk straps your wrists and ankles to the bed. “Hi sweetheart.”
Her voice is overly sweet, menacing even, as she grins, exposing rows of sharp, pristine white teeth. The marks on her cheekbones glow a sinister obsidian as she nods her thanks to Jeongguk.
“We’re just running a couple of tests on you, alright?”
“Please, no, don’t do this,” your voice is barely a whimper at the back of your hoarse throat, watching as Jeongguk wheels over a machine with a mess of wires connected to a headpiece.
Jimin, please.
You thrash your head against the mattress when he tries to fit it over your head, but Seulgi places her hands on the sides of your head, her nails digging into your scalp as she holds you still with an inhuman strength. Tears are flowing freely down your cheeks as you sob uncontrollably, but she only laughs as she turns to the controls.
She flicks a switch, and your body automatically seizes up in an involuntary reaction against the perceived pain. But in reality, nothing happens, and Seulgi frowns as she flicks a couple of other switches before huffing in frustration.
“What kind of outdated instrument is this? We don’t have anything like this back home,” Seulgi turns to Yoongi, who’s still standing by the door watching the procedures.
“It’s the latest model of the electroencephalogram that detects brain waves and analyses emotions through electrocution,” Yoongi says with a slight sneer. “I’m not surprised you don’t know how to use it, it’s top secret technology that we only just developed.”
Seulgi crosses her arms over her chest in impatience. “Well? Then get the fuck over here and initiate it for me!”
Yoongi falters, the smirk falling off his face. But he doesn’t want to admit that he has no idea how to use it either. “Only our head of research knows how to operate it, he designed it,” he mutters under his breath. “Jeongguk, guard the door while I go get Hoseok from that ceremony.”
“Hurry the fuck up,” Seulgi hisses, turning to you with a malicious smirk painting her red lips. “In the meantime, I think I’ll have some fun with you, sweetheart.”
She takes out what looks like a gun from a holster somewhere, pressing a button that activates a stream of electricity to run between its conducting poles. When she presses it to the skin on your thigh, the smell of burnt flesh meets your nostrils, and all you can hear is the sound of your convoluted, blood curdling screams that fill the room as agony shoots through every single nerve in your consciousness.
Except it’s more than just electricity, because it cuts into your skin as she moves it along the flesh of your thigh.
When she’s done with that leg, she moves to the other, igniting your skin with raging, scorching flames that feel as if they are melting your flesh, reducing you to a pile of ashes, feeling slick blood drip down and soak the sheets beneath you. Your sobs are incoherent, guttural pleas for mercy that finally bid her to pull away her taser.
“What’s that darling? You want more?”
“Ji-Jimin,” you barely rasp out, closing your eyes tight as your breaths come in ragged pants.
“Whoever that is, he’s not going to be able to save you,” Seulgi presses the taser close to your skin again, and you flinch automatically, pleading for her to stop even as your arms pull against the restraints. “How about I mark up your pretty face, hmmm? You won’t be needing it anymore.”
Just as she presses the taser to your skin, getting ready to set your skin ablaze in torment, the door bursts open, and a familiar voice follows.
“Wait! Stop- you can’t… damage the subject further, or she will be useless to any experimentation,” the voice falters a little, but nevertheless, Seulgi withdraws her weapon.
Your muscles are trembling as you crane your neck to get a glimpse of the newcomer, but your vision is blurry with tears and you can’t identify him at all, although you vaguely remember that Yoongi had been leaving to retrieve Hoseok.
“H-Hoseok, please,” you beg, swallowing hard as you feel agony shoot through every single nerve ending. “Please help me, get Jimin…”
Hoseok places a hand on your forehead, seemingly to adjust the headpiece, but his fingers stroke over your sweaty skin in a minute movement that goes unnoticed by Seulgi.
“Get over here and activate this fucking machine,” Seulgi demands, and Hoseok reluctantly steps away from your bed towards her as she moves away, allowing him to fiddle with the controls.
A low moan leaves your throat as you close your eyes, boneless and just waiting for the pain to come.
But it never does.
There is a shout, and then a high pitched scream. When you open your eyes, Seulgi is on the floor, and Hoseok has her gun in his hands, aiming it toward Jeongguk who barrels towards him. But the smaller alien is swifter, and he presses the gun to the taller alien’s throat, activating it and eliciting a guttural moan as he too collapses onto the floor.
“Hoseok…” you shift weakly, and his hands are trembling as he undoes your restraints.
“Listen, you have to run. You have to get out of here, I don’t know how the fuck you’re going to do it, but just go.” Hoseok breathes right into your face, eyes wide and marks glowing a dark grey. “They know. Yoongi knows about you and Jimin.”
At the sound of his name, you jerk your muscles into action, feeling panic and adrenaline lacing your veins. “H-how? W-where is he right now?”
“Still at the ceremony,” Hoseok runs a hand through his hair. “When Yoongi came to get me, I knew at once it was something to do with you, and Jimin did too. But Yoongi wouldn’t let Jimin take a step out of that ceremonial hall, and my bets are he’s guarding Jimin till Seulgi gets her way with you.”
Hoseok uses the gun to strip apart the sheets on the bed till they’re only about an inch wide, wrapping them around your thighs to help staunch the bleeding. Your muscles are still trembling, breath shaky, so he helps you down from the bed, supporting your weight against him, but then a thought comes to your mind.
“Jimin’s spaceship!” You tug on his arm weakly. “We can escape using that, it’s in the hangar, but we need to get Jimin.”
Hoseok frowns grimly. “You’re too weak, I can’t help you and get Jimin at the same time-“
“Then go. Get Jimin for me. Please,” you beg with your hand on his cheek, leaving an imprint of your bloodstained palm, gripping the material of his shirt tightly. “Please, Hoseok.”
“No, I can’t leave you at the hands of these… monsters,” Hoseok casts a glance at the prone bodies of Seulgi and Jeongguk on the ground. “I won’t let them hurt you anymore.”
“Wh-why are you doing this, Hoseok?” You gasp as he helps you to the door. “Why did you betray your brothers for an Earthling like me?”
Hoseok is silent for a moment, his marks lightening to a brief rose hue before it settles back down into a dark pewter. “Because you made me feel something I never thought possible.”
You stop him with a hand on his waist, squeezing a little as you catch his marks changing colours briefly, and then it hits you, that day in his lab where he asked you what holding hands meant. It was the same rose hue on his cheeks then, and you’ve seen it countless of times on Jimin too, that night together in his spaceship, or the morning after tucked away in your bed.
“Then you’ll know how important Jimin is to me, Hoseok,” you whisper. “Please get him for me.”
His jaw tightens, and he nods imperceptibly, helping you to steady yourself on your feet and take a few test steps before he relinquishes his grasp on you. He slips a key card into your hand, “go to the hangar and wait. I’ll get Jimin out.”
He brushes his lips against your forehead in a parting kiss as he disappears down the hallway, and then you’re alone.
*
Your shaky footsteps make it hard to navigate the hallways with efficiency, but somehow you make it outside, and relying on pure memory alone, trace your steps back to the entrance of the hangar. You’ve had to stop a few times out of sheer dizziness, but the fear of getting caught by Yoongi spurs you on, and at last you make it to the hangar.
Weakly, you raise your arm to scan the key card, waiting for the authorisation, but then you hear a voice call out your name, and no, you must be hallucinating, because-
You turn to and see Jimin in the distance, only he didn’t shout your name out loud for fear of garnering attention. He sports a bloodied lip and a gash across his bicep, and his gait seems to be impaired slightly, but nothing compares to the relief that blooms in your chest as he engulfs you into his arms, pushing you inside the safety of the hangar as the shutters slam closed.
Your aching muscles grip him tight to you as he enfolds you within the safety of his arms once more. Tears are streaming down your cheeks once more as you sob into his neck, feeling his comforting murmurs reverberate through his chest that is pressed against yours as he strokes your back soothingly.
“H-Hoseok, where’s-“
“He didn’t make it,” Jimin says grimly, sliding an arm around your waist to support you as he navigates through the fleet of ships till he finds his own. “He fell back to cover me and give us some time to make it out of here. Was a fucking bloodbath, but he fought to get me out and we… we don’t have much time, they’re after us.”
His eyes drop to scan your bloodied lower half, and fury lights his eyes and marks aglow in a bright scarlet so fluid that it resembles lava, as he caresses them tenderly. “I should have known they were planning something, I’m so fucking sorry, my angel, you- it’s all my fault, and I-“
“I love you,” you cut him off, and the words come out in a rush of exhaled breath, of promises kept and regrets washed away, because every time you look at him, a burning flame sets itself alight in your chest, one that Jimin recognises as hope.
Tears are brimming in his eyes as well as he dissolves into a blubbering mess, thumb caressing your cheek.
“Jimin, I’m okay, it’s okay, you’re here now, and I’m okay, we’re going to be okay,” you repeat the words over and over, knowing full well you don’t make much sense, but the words seem to sink in as Jimin lowers his head to capture your lips.
The kiss is a sentimental one, full of regret and remorse. Despite his bloodied lip, you don’t taste the tangy saltiness of it as you get lost in his soothing touch, inhaling the scent that is uniquely Jimin.
As he pulls away, you’re breathless not because of the kiss itself, but the way his eyes light up like the stars that line the Milky Way, his gaze reverent and all consuming.
“We need to get out of here.” You’re reluctant to pull away and disrupt the moment, but he’s right.
Jimin locates his spacecraft easily through the fleet. There is an authorisation pad just beside the entrance of his ship, and you watch as Jimin’s appendages slide out to meet it. This time, the sight of his tentacles doesn’t fill you with abhorrence unlike Yoongi’s, because you remember and associate them with security and comfort. He helps you up the steps into the ship, closing the door after him, and seats himself.
“To Earth, then?” He grins, the crescent moons of his eyes reassuring you as you settle in the chair beside him, facing the switchboard of controls.
Although you’ve been wondering if you’ll ever return home for the duration of your time here, you’d never imagine that it would be like this. All alone in a spaceship with a certain blonde alien, fleeing from the pursuit of his brothers who would most definitely murder you in cold blood upon first sight.
It seems as if it’s been a million years since you were whisked off that stage, sucked up into a spacecraft and abducted by aliens. What would happen if you return now? Would time unfreeze the second you step foot inside that auditorium, leaving you back exactly where you were as if the Universe had merely pressed pause on your life like it was some kind of video game? Would you then, like the heroine in said videogame, be ambushed by a horde of villains upon unpausing?
More importantly, what happens after that? Where is Jimin’s place in your life on Earth?
There are so many unanswered questions that leave you feeling on edge as you shift your gaze to the futuristic mockup that displays Earth on the spacecraft’s screen controls.
“Hey.” Jimin gets your attention again, and his voice is a hushed whisper, concern spreading across his features as he places his hand over yours. You forget that on top of your feelings, he’s also privy to all your thoughts, as his consciousness merges with yours until you are one being, unsure of where you end and he begins. “It’s gonna be okay, you know.”
Your features relax as you turn your palm upwards to grab his hand tightly. “To Earth.”
“Alright then co-captain, prepare for takeoff.” Jimin answers with a grin as he grips your hand tightly in his, turning toward the controls and seeking out one button in particular.
Your eyes follow his gaze to a green button labelled ‘time travel’, and a gasp rips through your throat.
“Jimin, no, wait!” You lunge across to grab his wrist before he can push the button, wincing as your wounds are torn apart, and fresh crimson stains the white makeshift bandages, landing on his lap as you do so.
“What’s wrong?” Jimin immediately has his hands on your waist, supporting your weight as he’s careful not to aggravate your wounds. “Why did you stop me? You’re not going to make it to Earth alive if we don’t time travel. Do you not want to go back?”
“N-no, it’s just…” you glance at the button again, and then back at him.
Outside, the sounds of shouts and approaching footsteps can be heard in the distance.
“Angel, we really don’t have much time,” Jimin bites his lip tersely. “They’re already at the entrance, and with Yoongi’s authorisation-“
“Isn’t this how the Universe ends?” You blurt out, your own heart pounding against your chest, and you hear the shutters creak and groan as they open. “You told me yourself, a pilot who was experimenting with time travel on a spacecraft presses a button, and then the Universe disappears. What if this is it?”
Jimin’s marks are a calm hue of rose pink as he smiles at you, his gaze knowing. “It is. This is how the Universe ends.”
“Y-you’ve known it all this while? And yet you didn’t try to-“
“Like I said angel, this moment is destined to happen, and will happen no matter what,” Jimin grips your hand tightly in his, squeezing hard. “It is structured this way. There’s no use stopping it, and besides, we have no choice.”
He releases his hold, pulling his hand away and leaving only his pinky hooked around yours. “But no matter what happens, I’ll never leave you, I promised, remember?”
The sudden silence that envelops you feels suffocating, but trapped in his gaze like a fly preserved within amber, the fear of the unknown diminishes.
You can only nod, feeling your throat swallow hard as you force back tears. “W-what happens when the Universe ends? What happens to us?”
“Beats me, angel. But we’ll do it together.” Jimin turns back to the controls, and you drink in what might be your last glimpse of him. His side profile is breathtaking: messy golden hair resembling a halo on his head, the gentle slope of his nose, his plump lips as he purses them in concentration. “Ready?”
You nod, and he presses the button.
Then everything goes black.
There is an ache in your neck, and the rest of your muscles are screaming in protest.
Slowly, the roaring silence in your ears gives way as sounds of muted chattering filter in, blending into a cacophony of noise that rips you from your unconsciousness.
You feel a hand on your arm shaking you insistently, uttering something into your ear that you cannot comprehend. Attempting to ignore it is impossible, as the force of that hand on you shakes your entire frame, and the voice only grows louder with every passing second.
Suddenly, you are wrenched back into the world of the living, and with the sudden consciousness come a clarity of mind, and a comprehension of the words that are being uttered to you. Your eyes dart open to take in your surroundings, only to find-
Namjoon, with his hair falling into his eyes as he peers at you in worry. “Wake up! Your presentation…”
The rest of his words fade away into the humdrum of the crowd.

EPILOGUE
“And now we’re just supposed to go back to our normal lives, because that’s what people do. They have these amazing experiences, see all those wonderful things and laugh so much until they cry and it hurts, and then they just go home and clean the bathroom or whatever.”
As you walk up on stage with a stiffness in your legs that could only be imagined, you feel a dart of panic shoot through you as you search for your phone with your script on it. But it’s located right in your back pocket where you last left it, and you pull it out with relief.
You’re ushered straight to the centre of the stage with a mic in hand, and the audience waits, ready for you to begin. Shooting a brief look at the ceiling of the auditorium, you wait a beat longer than necessary. But there’s nothing out of the ordinary in the beams of welded concrete that hold the structure up.
You unlock your phone to access your script, but in your anxiety, accidentally open the photos folder instead. You’re just about to click to exit the app, when the latest photo on your camera roll stops you, a violent fluttering in your stomach that overrides your nervousness.
Jimin is looking at you with the utmost reverence in his eyes, as you’re staring into the camera caught off guard, a gentle smile on his lips as his marks stand out from his skin in a bright vivid carnation pink.
After a moment, you turn to the audience again with a smile.
“So, all this happened… more or less.”

“I fucked up again, sorry”
Tumblr media
Requested by @boyslikeluke
Making luke mad was kind of the equivalent of kicking a puppy. Not that I kicked puppies on a regular basis, but I think it is very self-explanatory.
Luke is not the kind of guy you want to have a fight with, especially if you are close to him in any way, he was not a guy to mess up with, he could be the sweetest guy on earth but if you did anything that could hurt him or any of his loved ones, you would wish it never happened, or worst, you would wish you never knew him at all, that’s how heavy this was. That’s why after a very bad night and the biggest fight in the history of our relationship, this was really starting to feel like the end and I was too fucking scared to even think about it.
It was not like he did something to me, it was not his mistake at all. It was me, it was all me. I did this.
Going in detail right now would be a lot, but let’s just say, mental breakdowns are a bitch and you should not be pretending to be fine when nothing is really fine and most definitely, you should not be questioning anyone's feeling while having a mental breakdown, because they most likely will turn up shit on you and that’s where all the trouble starts, Me, having a mentally unstable moment, not handling it well and ending up in a fight with my boyfriend, which is never good.
Flying out to Australia was a true pain after this fight. All of my words and every single moment of that call was being played in my head over and over, I felt like it could go on forever until I finally exploded. I tried to forget that while being on my flight though, this was not going to hold me back, I made one promise to Luke before he left, I would be at that show no matter what and I was going to be there just like I promised. He had my word.
These past few days have been hell on earth, I stayed at his family house instead of going to his apartment, just like I usually did when I had to go to Australia alone. I told them about everything, but they seemed too sure that everything was going to be alright, which I somehow doubted, but I never said that to them, I wouldn’t dare to worry them more about us than they were already. But while they seemed to be totally fine with my presence, I still couldn’t stop thinking about that day, I couldn’t stop seeing his face everywhere and I just couldn’t stop looking at my phone, just sitting there and waiting for a call that I was never going to get.
He hasn’t called me in almost a week. I definitely fucked up
Days passed and the moment was finally here, the day I would face him and everything would be determined, I would either stay with him or go home and pick up everything from his house. It was one way or the other, no middle point.
I stand on his childhood bedroom looking at my reflection in the mirror, doubting if what I had was even the right clothes for such an event, it was his show, I had to look more decent and more... I don’t know… outstanding. Instead, I was just wearing a white blouse he gave to me a while ago and jeans, with little to no makeup, which was usually my look anyways. I feel underdressed, I feel pathetic. What would a feminine girl do?.
I grab the red lipstick on my bag and just put it on, might be a fail try to look better, but it was something and I was really making my best to not look too careless about my looks tonight, I wanted him to feel something when he saw me, not just anger or whatever he was feeling about me tonight, something good, something that will make me feel better about myself.
“Honey, we’re going backstage before the show, so we better take off now” I hear Luke’s mother say from out the door, opening it carefully, making sure she didn’t catch me in a bad moment or something.
She is already dressed and ready to go, I am too, but I am not prepared for seeing him right now. My hands still shake a little when I think about what’s going to happen and all the possible outcomes for this moment. I was scared and I wanted everything to be alright, but the only way that would happen if it I just faced the situation and be strong about it, I had to do it.
“All of you?” I ask Lis, completely opening the door and facing her, I couldn’t hide my scared look from her and that’s why she looked at me back in pity, I hated this so much “Oh, well, I guess it's alright” I say after a few seconds, recognizing there was nothing I could do about it anyways.
“Hey” She says giving a step forward, putting her hands on my shoulders “are you two still not talking?” I can sense true concern in her voice and I almost hated that she was even when it was comforting to have someone who supported, but I just had a fight with her son, she wasn’t even mad about it. she has too much hope on this.
“I mean, he talks to me, sometimes” I shrug, sitting on the bed and letting her do the same. I remember all of those texts, just keeping me updated on where he was or how he was doing, but after that he never really asked how I was, or at least starts a conversation, it was almost like he felt responsible for making sure I was informed about his status, but the reality is that all I wanted was to hear his voice talking to me, not just a text. I needed to hear his voice.
“he hasn't called me in a while” I mumble in a sad smile, trying to not look like the world was ending or something, but my world was on the apocalypsis right now.
“A week is a long time” She says, squeezing my shoulder a bit in support “It'll be alright” she assures me “he loves you, this is just a slip”
I give her a smile, I appreciate how supportive she’s being, I really do “More like my slip” I chuckle like it was funny at all.
She nods, recognizing what I just said, but still showing me her supporting self by putting her arm around shoulder in a side hug “Everyone makes mistakes” she says, making sure I looked at her when she spoke “you'll be fine” she assures me, leaning in to kiss my cheek and getting up from her spot. “Pick up whatever you’re bringing, we’ll get going in a few”
“Okay” I nod, looking up at her as she walked towards the door “Thanks Lis” I mumble giving her soft smile “I’m sorry for making Luke feel so bad”
She smiles back and waves her hand like if she’s trying to swing that comment away “No need to apologize, sweetie, you’re a beautiful and nice girl” She says, some of the weight somehow feels like it flew off my shoulders “I know you wouldn’t hurt him on purpose”
“Thanks” I say looking down, trying to hide my blushed cheeks between my hair.
“5 minutes” she instructs me before she’s out that door.
I guess that’s about it. Five minutes away from confronting the only guy who I’m so in love with that kind of terrifies me. Gosh, I hope I don’t do something stupid.
Well, good luck to me.
So after what seemed to be the shortest car ride I have ever been on in my entire life, we were here, facing the awfully empty back of the venue they were performing in, waiting for Luke’s brother to find the guy of the security team that would let us in to find the guys.
Those were an awful five to ten minutes, I don’t even know how long it took us to actually get in but in no time we were already backstage and everyone was living a very happy reunion moment, then there was me, who stood frozen at the door of the room looking at the scene quitely from my place.
It’s not like felt unhappy to be there, not at all, I was too happy, so happy I could barely move. He looked so good I could just look at him forever, he looked older, more mature, somehow taller, Last time I saw him he looked kind of different,  but not now, he looked better than even.
Some of the guys acknowledge my presence and came to me for a quick hug, in which I still felt a little stiff and shocked to move at all, I hoped they don’t think I didn’t want to be there, things just felt a little heavy right now.
Everyone looked so happy, like nothing was happening, but not on my side. Luke hasn’t looked or said anything to me and I not pushing anything to change that, I can’t bring myself to him after our last conversation, I feel like if I do it I’d be going into a danger zone that could bring me to an end and I didn’t want to risk that.
He smiled at everyone, being so happy that his family was there, they laughed at jokes, they were catching up, making questions. They’re so happy. the moment seems to last forever, he enjoys himself with his loved ones and he seems totally fine until the moment his eyes land on me and his smiles fades just a little. My hands shake and I look away, he’s uncomfortable, I knew I had to stay outside.
Time passes and at some point, they are already set to get out before the guys have to get ready for the big night. I’ve seen how he keeps glancing at me from the corner of his eyes, I haven’t moved at all and my heart beats so fast that I can hear the pounding on my ears, I can’t just come over to him and say something. I just can’t.
When they are all heading out, I still can’t move. Lis looks at me and waits for me to go, but when we look at each other she smiles at me the last time and walks away, she thinks I want to talk to Luke and I do, but I’m not ready. I can’t say a word because before I can even talk she is already walking out the door and leaving me.
I turn my head to the side and it’s like all of my worst current nightmares are here because Luke is standing right in front of me, looking amazing but serious, he’s looking down at me and saying nothing. My brain is not working.
“Good luck” It’s all I can get to come out of my mouth. Not even a hello or any kind of greeting, nothing useful is going through my head right now.
“Thanks” he says, nodding, trying to get a decent smile out of him “you'll be watching right?” he asks, he sounds nervous for some reason, but honestly, not as nervous as I was.
“Always” I nod, smiling back. I want to say something else but my bottom lip is shaking already and I want to run away from this place, I am not ready, I feel sick, I need, I need- “I gotta go” I say, stopping any word that tried to get out of my mouth and trying to walk away but not make it look like I wanted to escape even when I totally was.
“See you later?” he asks before I can move at all. His eyebrows are now raised and looking for my answer.
“Yeah” I nod and smile again.
He nods back and takes a step forward to me, kisses my forehead and leaves. I am for sure going to pass out right in this second if I don’t walk out right now and that’s what I do, I leave, feeling my heart pounding so heavily that it could explode.
However, If that little moment even meant something, it made me feel a little bit alive again. Him and I definitely need to have a talk.
Time somehow seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. One moment I was watching their gig, taking pictures with my phone and singing their lyrics along with the audience, then I was in front of Luke, facing what seemed to be the worst of my fears right now.
He was sweating and so was I, none of us talking but looking at each other intensely, not caring about what anyone thought from watching us just say nothing in the middle of the hallway. We needed a moment.
“Hi” he says first, taking a step towards me so I could hear him better.
“Hi” I repeat almost automatically, I was nervous, I couldn’t really think about anything else to say that was somehow smart or useful, something that would sound like me but less scared, if that made any sense.
“You look great” It’s what I say, looking at him up and down, almost as if I was checking him out, I wasn’t but he for sure looked great. His hair all messy and his general look after a show was always something I would find attractive, especially on him, always on him.
“You too, nice blouse” He says giving me a sweet smile, looking at me the same way I did before.
“You gave it to me on christmas” I mention, smoothing down the fabric with the palms of my hands.
“I know, I remember” He nods, taking another step forward “I love how it looks on you”
“Thanks” I blush and look down, his presence was a little too intimidating for me at the moment, I could barely hear him over my heart beats, drumming on my ears so hard that it’s sound started to make me nervous, this was too much. I want to be over it now.
He sighs deeply the moment I look away from his face, His hands find a way across his hair, pulling it back in slight frustration and finding the right way to start such a conversation. I can’t blame him for not knowing what to say, I didn’t know either, I wanted all of this to be over so we could go home, but we both know that things don’t work that way and we had to talk about this one way or another, but it has to be now.
“Look-” We both say at the same time, stopping in track at the same time and waiting for one of us to speak up first, but none of us did.
“You first” he says. I shook my head in negation, too nervous to be the first one to speak up but before I could even say anything he interrupts me again. “Please” he says in a mumble, letting me be the first one to say something.
I nod, trying to find the right words to start “I-” my voice breaks before I can even start and my hands shake, this was more difficult than I anticipated “I fucked up again, sorry” It’s what I say, feeling like it was barely going to fix anything “I mean- I am really sorry, about what I said, I don’t mean it, I don’t think your job is useless, I don’t think you are shitty person, I just-” I hesitate bit I keep talking “I was angry and I took it out on you” I explain and my voice breaks once again, I try to find more words but his touch cuts me out.
His hands press against my arm, rubbing them softly and silently telling me to calm down even when I was completely freaking out.
“It’s alright” he says in a soft voice.
“No, it’s not alright” I shake my head, feeling the tears come in quickly to my eyes and fall on my cheeks “Luke, I miss you”
“I miss you too” he says in a small voice.
He doesn’t let me keep talking, he grabs my hand and makes me walk down the hallway until we reach an empty room, a maintenance room apparently. He locks the door behind us so no one can interrupt us at this moment, we both needed to hear each other clearly.
I am the one who starts talking.
“I guess I wanted to let you know that I'm sorry these last days have been so tense, I should have called you but I didn't, I just bottled up and you're right when You said I just hide all the time instead of facing shit, I should have talked to you  and now I'm even more sorry that I didn't came to see you earlier when you landed-”
“(Y/n), breathe” He interrupts me, only to make me realise that all of this time I was rambling I almost forgot how to breathe properly, so I take a short break and give myself a minute to breathe, even though I just totally break down into crying, it felt too difficult to breathe in this particular situation. “there you go” he mumbles when I seem a little calmer and somehow relaxed. I felt better, but this was not over.
“I'm sorry, I really am” I mumble, looking at him in the eye.
“I know you are” He says back, taking my hands in his and caressing softly.
I lean back to catch my breath, sitting on a little chair in the corner of the room, not longer having anything else more to say more than what I just did, I was running out of ideas and I hoped that he didn’t take it the wrong way. “What did you need to tell me?” I ask, suddenly remembering he wanted to say something too.
“I just- uh- I wanted to know where we stand” he asks, clearly a little uncomfortable with all this “that last argument, it was no child's play, we both said some nasty things and trust me, I am extremely sorry” he says speaking truthfully about this “I guess all I want to know is, if we’re ok”
I nod, I know where he’s going, It’s so scary “I want us to be” I say, shrugging “but you're right, that last argument was kind of ugly”
he nods and sighs “Listen, I totally understand if you want to end it” he says and I froze  “i was an asshole”
“No, it was my fault” I excuse.
“But I still said so much shit” he interrupts me, taking part of the blame with him “I don't want you to feel pressure into keep this going if you don't feel comfortable, it's okay, we've been together for a long time, if you feel like this is enough, I won't hold you back” he says.
the room falls into silence.
It’s true, the least thing I want is to break up with him, but for a brief minute I consider it, maybe it was the best option for the both of us, after dating for so long, maybe it was for the best if we just part. But then, who would be the one to call me on my lonely nights or stay with me on those rainy days when it’s cold outside, who would go with me on walks with our dogs, who would come up and show me new ideas for music, but most importantly, who would ever love me like he does, no one, no one would. I can’t break up with him. Not now, not a stupid fight.
“No” I finally say after a while  “I don't want this to end”
He nods “Good” Luke says softly, smiling a little “Me neither”
“But I do want you to know that I am really sorry, Luke, for everything, it won’t happen again” I say, squeezing his hands that now are holding mine so carefully, as if I'm going to break “I am also so stressed lately and I don’t want you to think it is because of you, it is not”
“I understand” he nods. In a soft move, his forehead is now pressed against mine while he caresses my hands, I don’t want him to let go, ever. “We’ll go through this together, alright?”
“Yeah?” I sniff a little, this was overwhelming.
“Yeah” he chuckles, kissing the back of my hand “I love you so much” he says, looking into my eyes “I haven't say that in a while” he chuckles
“I love you more” I mumble, a real smile now showing on my face “I really do”
he leans in and steals a kiss from my lips. Somehow it feels unfamiliar for a second, it’s been months since I last saw him and kissing right now after what happened felt a little weird, but good, always good.
He holds my face with both hands and deeps up the kiss, making me know how much he needed this and how much he missed me, I did too, this felt beyond fantastic, to finally have him here and be able to feel him with me. I missed this guy so much.
We end the kiss and all we can do is look at each other. I know, this felt unreal. I can’t help myself but to give him a big hug, I felt so good after that kiss, I feel better than ever. We’re good, we’re fine. After all Lis was right, this was just a slip.
There’s a loud knock on the door that makes us both jump in surprise.
“Whatever you two are doing, hurry up, we’re going out” says Luke’s brother from the other side of the door.
Luke closes his eyes and sighs, I know, I don’t want this to end right now, We just need a little longer, just a few more minutes.
We kiss one more time, just to make this last a couple more seconds but his brother knocks again, letting us know that they want to go now.
“We should go” he says with a little smile.
“Agreed” I say with a smile, pressing our lips together once more.
He takes my hand and we leave the room, ready for a night with his family, a night that we would never forget, because we are now just fine and this is a good moment, we’re all together and that’s all that matters.
I love this boy and nothing would ever make me change my mind. No matter how many slips we have. I am his and he is mine, That’s all that matters.

Twelve Ways To Stop Fretting
🌴I often fret ceaselessly and needlessly about the future, rethinking unhelpful habitual thoughts, grappling with the same issues, and squandering valuable time and mind space in activities that not only do not provide any peace, but tend to agitate and deepen stresses and anxieties. Of course, the concerns range from the casual, such as what to wear to a new job, to the more existential, about whether I am fulfilling my potential and progressing incrementally, towards my layered dreams with my slow simmering efforts; recently, I have been worried about whether I would be able to devote sufficient time to my businesses, if I am also working long hours as a staff attorney at a law firm. Thus, here are a few ideas about how to approach a change, to confront an uncertain future, to duel with hastening hours, and to forestall the rough blades of doubt.
1)New Experiences: Because we cannot foretell the future, we dwell in a realm of possibilities, chances and surprises, thus one way to eliminate unwelcome worries is to be open to the unknown and to appreciate the unfolding, being aware of the nuances that may bring us moments of illumination, such as discovering a new route with prickly pair cacti, dropping date palms and cloud scaling desert willow trees, or the joy that comes with the opportunity to frequent a charming coffee shop with a decadent chocolate croissant, or even the task of choosing a daily attire, to boost feelings of wellness and comfort of a job outside of home.
2)Novel Insights: Be vivacious whenever you feel uncertain, rather than forlorn, because it is through the unknown that we are given clear sight into the wheels churning, the planets tilting, the new poppy seeds unfurling and how our own lives are steadily moving on a course that surges recklessly, between shoals of contentment and abstract rocks of chaos, because, between every awakening and every nights final snubbing of the candlelight, reveals more about the music of family, the valuable gift of lyrical leisure hours and the blue sky moments of heady enlightenment. For it is only through upheaval, changes to routines, modifications or habits and reframing of customs that we come closer to the truth.
3)Relationships: We shouldn’t hesitate to confront the new opportunities and experiences that befall us, because these are often accompanied by novel and intriguing encounters as well as chances to meet new people and develop friendships. For when we are taking a risk, changing course, or experimenting with altered methods of conducting our lives, we float into a stream swimming with potential new memories, possible friendships, and a mine of inspiration from meeting and conversing with different minds, personalities and temperaments. For when we don’t know what the future brings us, we often fill up the space with the worst imaginings and the direst outcomes, but rather then fret, we should contemplate the magical elements of not knowing who will cross our path, how they might change an aspect of our lives, or a way of thinking, or how they may improve our experience of reality.
4)Adaptability: Many of us worry, because we hate to be jarred from routine, from our well honed habits and the peace that arises from a steady and contented ritual that eases us through the seasons. Yet, by worrying we are inhibiting the adventurous spirit and the courageous instincts that we also possess in equal quantities. Thus, instead of doubting the unknown, we should utilize its cryptic nature by enhancing and polishing our ability to adapt. By taking a moment, to think and strategize about how we may grow through periods of discomfort or annoyance, of how we may challenge our behaviors and deep seated fears, we may move towards better incarnations of ourselves. We may adapt in small or new ways, perhaps continue highlighting a personality trait such as gregariousness, while tempering an inclination to be less private, or to overcome a fear of driving in town, or a phobia of transversing great distances too far off lands. Each day we might attempt to scale the barriers, by channeling our best tools, our most potent skills and our latent talents, and incrementally alter ourselves.
5)Positive Thinking: A light hand creates the most beautiful paintings, the same principle may apply, such that, the lightest thinking creates the most beautiful reality. Thus in all our rumination, our puzzlements, or bewildering half dreams, our misty morning meditations, we should err on the side or positivity, by perceiving every element in the best light. We can continue this positive trend and encourage it to seep, like dew on blossoming lilac bushes, into every element of our story by having confidence in yourself and the universe as well as an unmitigated curiosity about the unfolding of events. For any situation, after its initial explosive or even subtle entry, may provide us with emotions, answers, thoughts, inspirations and ways of thinking that we have previously not accessed or been aware of, that may reveal tentative secrets about the world around us and that could help us string together a narrative of events that makes sense only with the alchemical element of time, or it could even ensure that we act the most beneficial way to unsure favorable and happy outcomes.
6)Analyzing The Situation: A creative way to address your worries, anxieties, sadness, regret, ennui or melancholy is to create your memoir, either in your mind, or by writing, creating videos, photography and art, for each is a token of the moment that assists us in comprehending situations within the passage of time, as even the most troubling elements, often carry detectable nuances, as when we read memoirs, and notice how certain events or choices shape and alter the course of a persons life. By thinking about the future in a certain, knowing way, almost taking for granted that you will age and write your memories down, you may practice the art of hindsight even in the present moment. My favorite part of reading autobiographies, is the countless renditions of writers rising about harrowing circumstances, cruel cultural constructs or the pervasive evil of human nature, to reveal the ultimate victory of light, truth and courage. Thus, a certain degree of detachment and the steadfast employment of the power of multiple perspectives, helps us to react to events in a way that ameliorates its most haunting effects.
7)Nothing Lasts: If we remember the heartbreaking, temporary nature of life, even when we are sad, we realize how futile it is to waste even a quarter hour of the day in unhappiness. The universe is in constant flux, with the fall trees turning shades of copper, crimson and aubergine, with the chill setting into to the once balmy clouds, with candles lit and spluttering out, with the years passing steadily as a lighthouse on a thunderstruck, isolated island, with reunions coming and going, with milestones won and lost. So let go of the current distresses, for it will, also unequivocally pass away.
8)Experiment/Discover: There is so much to reality that is yet to be understood, for their has been no cure for pain, just as there has never been a thorough theory of love. So what if we could explore any situation as a momentous chance to gain jewel like insights into the mechanisms that abound around us, perhaps, contemplate the wonder of how our intuition already knows before a loved one rings, of why some trees have lived for centuries yet they have never swam in the sea, or of why candlelight, music and dancing, rinses away even the most stubborn stains imprinted into the threads of our hearts, or of why we never know ourselves no matter how much we search, or of why beautiful poetry can reduce us to tears. We should make use of champagne, or gardening, or an art as a portal to channel bliss, to see what elements align with how we hope things will turn out, realizing that maybe thinking about it in a particular, incanted light, is a secret charm, a tonic to clear away cloudy windows that reveals what we need may already be in our presence or in our repertoire. Use the worrisome aspect to discover new ways to deal with issues, unravel expedient methods to handle onerous tasks, or unveil how to manage time in a way that deliberately moves us nearer to the nebulous realms of our most coveted desires.
10)Focus On Rewards: Rather than fretting, we should focus on the future where the results of our actions manifest themselves in the clearest light. Whether in business, where long hours of effort, planning and diligence may create value for others, and later, provide revenue, or at a job, where after completing assigned tasks you are able to also share your skills and talents with the larger community for an income, or by writing or creating art that helps to ease the stubborn wounds of pilfering time, or by planting a garden with prolific wild poppies, zinnias and marigolds, it is only with patience and diligence, that we are granted the initial blooms and the first fragrance of success.
9)Gratitude: Even if initially it seems that hindrances and detours seamlessly appear whenever we move towards a certain vision, instead of lingering on the unsavory elements that rob us of our mind space, time and energy, we should tabulate our blessings, for they are just as plentiful and almost as ubiquitous, landing softly into the newly inked lines of our story, like a butterfly on a luscious frangipani blossom. By being grateful, we dwell in the space of opportunities, of pragmatism, of hacking time and energy, of doing what is needed to take us to the next step, for often, it is through change and upheaval of routines that we enter a chamber of new possibilities and happy chances.
11) Dance: Whenever you fret, do something active, take a walk, yoga, dance, work out, get up to look at the stars, or water a plant, by moving away, even an inch from our coordinates upon earth, we are also creating distance from a negative thought. I also have a theory that it is impossible to worry and dance at the same time.
12) Focus On Wellness: When we feel overcome with dread, or lapse into the eerie corridors of anxiety, we should refuel our quest for wellness. It is often challenging when we are stressed to think about our bodies and minds and to give it the priority it needs to help us through the most tiresome situations, yet, by drinking plenty of water, by making sure you sleep as much as possible, by meditating, eating healthy fresh fruits, seeds, nuts, vegetables and grains, by taking time for a facial, massages, skincare and working out, we are primed to confront whatever the next day may bring. 🐝

Crystal Snow (Hoseok ver.) - Heart Crystal
Tumblr media
Pairing: Hoseok x OC Genre: Romance, encounters with beautiful idols, impromptu dates, Christmas kisses--no mistletoe necessary, koi no yokan, love and its possibilities Words: 2499 Summary: Taking a flight to Shanghai as a chance passenger and risking deportation to attend an unlicensed party for the sake of dancing with one Jung Hoseok? Totally worth it.
Crystal Snow (Christmas with hyung line) Seokjin ver. | Yoongi ver. | Hoseok ver. | Namjoon ver.
(2017 December 24)
"I can't believe you let Kim Seokjin go to that ice princess! You know how the Shanghainese would say his name? 'Zhen'--for treasure--meaning you let the grand prize slip out of your hands."
"Nuh-uh!" Hyejoon wagged a finger at her supervisor's face then traipsed down the street, ahead of their group. "Seokjin-oppa was meant to go with her, and I'm meant to come here. He may be a prince, but he's not my prince. My grand prize is out there somewhere, I can feel it."
Ducking into the dark maze of back alleys after Hyejoon, her long-suffering supervisor winced. "Is that why we're heading to that unlicensed night club with a bunch of teens instead of celebrating like proper adults?"
"I guess I'm just nostalgic..." Hyejoon mused. "You know, when I was in school, I once went to this rave--"
"And it was dispersed by the police and you were nearly booked as a juvenile delinquent, but some dude saved you." Her supervisor sighed. "You've told this story many times."
"It's my favorite story after all," she giggled.
The rest of her co-workers all sighed as well, saying that she should've gotten rid of all her rebellious impulses as a child, rather than drag them into a dodgy party in Shanghai and get them all deported. Hyejoon imagined that flight attendants always had such wild adventures on their trips, but they were ground staff after all... still, she wanted to do something crazy for Christmas Eve 2017. She waved her phone containing alert of the party--she just had a good feeling about it.
When they finally found the place, it was at the height of an impromptu couple dance contest. Hyejoon clapped for the current performer, but her hands went still and silent when she caught sight of the man across the dance floor. Bopping his head to the song, even his little graceful gestures seemed timed to the beat. The dance ended with an insane death drop, and he smiled in appreciation--not even the bucket hat obscuring his face could hide the radiance of that smile... like a ray of sunshine in the dim club.
"Hey, want to dare me to enter the contest with that guy?" Hyejoon suggested.
Her supervisor goggled at her. "Umm, no--"
"Well, if you insist!" She fluffed up her hair, free of its usual work-regulation bun for once, and checked that her sequined dress clung at all the right places before she sashayed towards him.
"We totally didn't!" her coworkers yelled after her.
Slipping past the next couple taking their places on the dance floor, Hyejoon smirked at them over her shoulder. "I'm not someone who'll ever back down of a challenge!"
She reached the man, belatedly noticing that he was surrounded by a bunch of suited companions. He himself wore sweater and jeans for a more casual look--but she could tell that they were rather expensive. "Hi!" Waving with both hands and bowing at the same time, Hyejoon greeted the man.
"Oh, hello!" he replied. Up close, he was almost literally shining--beyond his good looks, it was his bright aura that attracted her, like a moth to a flame.
I think I know now... why I ended up here in Shanghai.
"Why don't you enter the contest with me?" she asked.
He tugged the bucket hat lower on his head. "I don't know..."
"Oh, come on!" She winked. "Don't worry so much about it, I won't bring you down."
His companions snickered about him being popular anywhere, and he shushed them before turning back to her. "Uh... I'd much rather just watch right now."
"Aww, but--" Hyejoon patted his hand and he snatched it away. He was slouching in his seat now, as if in hiding, and she realized now that his demurring wasn't out of hesitation, but an actual rejection. "Oh... okay. I'm so sorry. I just... thought there would be good results if the two of us worked at it together." She forced herself to simper cheerfully as she bowed in apology and tiptoed on the edge of the dance floor to rejoin her coworkers.
But they were nowhere to be found in their previous spot, and a couple more performances passed before they tottered back to her, red-cheeked and giddy. Clearly, they each had a shot--or five--to loosen up. "Where were you?" She pouted, unhappy that she was now the only sober one.
"We got some liquid courage for you, crazy girl, not that you need it!" Her supervisor pushed two cocktails in her hands. "And we told the DJ to play that song you're always dancing to."
Hyejoon choked on her drink. "Wait, what? But I'm not dancing--"
To her chagrin, the host was already announcing her as the final entry: "Kim Hyejoon and her partner!"
Sufficiently buzzed, her coworkers whooped and tossed her out into the dance floor. The crowd cheered--then groaned when she attempted to leave, motioning to the glasses still in her hands. Someone relieved her of her drinks and shoved her out again.
The first strains of 'If you leave' floated from the speakers and Hyejoon gawked at the crowd, which was first hushed, then grumbling in discontent as she remained frozen. One partygoer booed and while she was still mentally debating fight versus flight, someone tugged at her hand.
She gasped and found herself pressed against the chest of the shining young man from earlier. "There will be good results if we work at it together." He gave her a small smile as her eyes widened; in shock, in realization, then in hope. He nodded at her. "Ready?"
He twirled her into place beside him, and Hyejoon surrendered to muscle memory to take her to the correct stance. They danced in unison, with the exact same moves, as if they had practiced together hundreds of times before. She let the music take her over, arms popping and feet sliding across the floor. Her partner danced at a level far above hers, but she didn't let that worry her, and enjoyed moving to the rhythm.
The song wound down, and instead of moving to the last stance, he took her hand again--she had felt it coming and was ready for him, and half-dipped, supported by his arms. The crowd went wild but they hardly heard it as they beamed at each other, basking in the rush of the dance.
The host stopped them from leaving and called back all the other couples. Despite the enthusiastic response to their dance, the death drop couple took the win.
"It's okay, Hyejoon, you did great!" her coworkers cheered. "You too, Hyejoon's partner! You were awesome!"
The host distributed participation prizes for all the ladies. Excited, Hyejoon opened the little red velvet box and found a pair of earrings, adorned with heart-shaped crystals. "How pretty!" she exclaimed. Grinning coyly at her partner, she leaned close enough for him to breathe in her perfume. "Could you put it on for me?"
He didn't respond to her blatant flirting, but he took the earrings and carefully put them on her ears, not poking her unnecessarily even once.
Hyejoon tilted her head, feeling the crystals swinging. "How do they look?"
Her partner's smile evaporated and he winced. "Sorry..."
She cringed. "Oh no, does it look that bad?"
"No, you're pretty," he clarified. "But you only got the consolation prize because of me."
"Nuh-uh. I wasn't sure earlier but..." She gripped the rim of his bucket hat, giving him a chance to protest, before pulling it off to fully reveal his handsome face. "You're Jung Hoseok. I'm right, right?"
"Uh, yeah." Seemingly bashful, he scratched at the nape of his neck. "How...?"
"I'd know those moves anywhere--bursting with power but flowing seamlessly." she gushed. In a quieter voice,  she revealed: "I've always wanted to dance with you."
"I see," he chuckled.
"And I did. You--" She tapped his chest, right upon his heart. "--are my grand prize." She gazed into his eyes, wondering if she had enough courage left over to kiss him, but her reverie was interrupted by the entire club thrown into a commotion.
"Ack, it's the police!" people screamed.
"You've got to be kidding me!" Hyejoon shrieked. She watched her coworkers rush off and turned to Hoseok, who was waving for his companions to go while they can.
She was clutching at his sleeve and he peeled her hand off--she thought he would slap it away and make his escape--but he grasped it securely. "Can you trust me?"
She nodded. "Of course!'
Walking, Hoseok led her into the street, and she was about to ask why he wasn't hurrying, but he pressed a finger upon his lips for silence. Hoseok walked right into a bunch of policemen who all yelled for them to halt.
"Oh, thank God!" He shouted in English. "We're lost, me and my girlfriend, please help!" He crowded them, loudly asking for directions to the nearest McDonald's until the annoyed policemen finally waved for them to leave. It was only when they were rounding the corner that one of the policemen brought up their fancy clothing and how they had smelled of cigarette smoke and alcohol, and chased after them. But Hoseok led her into a niche between two buildings and they crouched in the shadows as the policemen ran past.
They had barely gone when Hyejoon gave way to emotions bursting in her chest: nervousness, shock, and above all, mirth. "Hah... hahahah!" she cackled.
He gaped at her, as if she had lost her mind. "I don't mean to offend you, but this isn't an appropriate time to be laughing." He shook his head. "What terrible luck to lose a contest and then get caught in a raid."
"No, it's the best luck!" she insisted. "I mean, some people might say, that it's bad luck that the two times I've gone to an illegal party, they both got busted by the police--"
"I hate to tell you this and ruin your good mood, but that is pretty bad luck, yeah." Hoseok wrinkled his nose.
"However!" She bopped the end of his chiseled nose. "Both times I got saved by someone truly amazing."
Leaning against the cruddy wall with no care for her party dress, Hyejoon closed her eyes, as the memories came flooding back. "Gwangju, summer of 2009, there was a party hosted by the most popular dance groups in town." She watched his face for any signs of listlessness, but when he cocked his head to listen, she continued. "At that time, I fought a lot with my parents because no matter how hard I tried, I always ended up as average and that wasn't good enough for them. For once, I wanted to rebel. So I went there."
She snorted at the mental image of her awkward teenage self. "In my average way, I could follow a rhythm but the very best dancer there--he encouraged everyone to let go and pour their feelings into dance."
"And that was when you discovered how much you liked it?" he prompted.
"Yes! It didn't matter that I wasn't a talented dancing star, it was fun." she affirmed. "But then the police came because of reports of underage drinking. I nearly got caught but that same dancer rescued me."
"While we were hiding, just like this, I cried and cried... saying that my parents would never let me back home then, and that I should let the police catch me because it's not like I'll amount to anything--I'll always be the unspecial, ordinary, average me." She shuffled closer to him. "But do you know what he said?"
Hoseok blinked at her, and ventured: "'If you don't work hard, there won't be good results...' was it?"
"You remember?" Giggling, she pointed at herself. "It's me, Kim Hyejoon... I was the girl you saved that time."
His face fell. "... Sorry. I don't remember," he murmured, wringing his hands and looking down at them. "It's just something I say to people all the time."
"It's okay." She caressed his arm and when he glanced up, she smiled. "It doesn't matter that you've forgotten, that I'm only one of the many people you said it to. Because it was what I really needed to hear at that time, so I kept those words in my heart."
"You ended up making your parents proud?" he asked.
"No way!" she pealed in laughter. Noticing Hoseok's confused, slightly horrified frown, she added: "But I also realized that my 'good results' could be different from someone else's good results. Some days, just surviving is good enough. And if I can be happy for that day, then I've also done well."
He stared at her for long moments, pondering her words. Finally, he chuckled. "Then, you're wiser than I could ever be."
"That's why, I want to thank you." she said. Her hand moved down his arm, patting his hand.
"I should be the one to thank you." He took her hesitating hand and squeezed it. "Thank you. Those words that I scattered like seeds in the wind... thank you for letting them root in your heart."
"No matter how many times you forget... I'll always remember," she promised.
Shaking his head, he graced her with that sunny smile, all for her this time. "I don't think I could ever forget you now, Kim Hyejoon."
"Keep me here," she commanded, with an impish flick of her finger against his beating heart.
"This moment will crystallize in my heart." Holding her hand, he crossed his heart with her finger. "Preserved as one of my precious memories."
"And I... I'll keep you here." She pressed the fingers of her free hand against her lips. As she inched closer, he guided the hand he was still holding on his shoulder. They kissed in that blind alley like two teenagers, fulfilling the promise of that interrupted connection from eight years ago.
When they parted, Hoseok blinked at her, as if in a daze. She was about to tease him, but her ears perked up. "Hey, do you hear that?"
"I don't hear anything," he mumbled, still sneaking peeks at her mouth as she talked.
"Exactly. The coast is clear." She grabbed his hand and stepped out of their hiding place.
But her coworkers popped out of another alley, now sober from the shock. "Hyejoon!"
"Hoseok!" His companions had been standing watch and rushed over to him.
"You crazy girl, we thought you were a goner!" her supervisor screamed.
"Hey, let go--!" Protesting when her coworkers tugged at her arm, she struggled to keep hold of Hoseok.
"This is dangerous, if you got caught here it would be very, very bad!" One of Hoseok's companions--his manager, it seemed--seized him by the shoulders and started leading him away.
"Hyung, wait!" Hoseok's hand unlinked with Hyejoon's and he grasped at air in an attempt to maintain the connection, but their respective companions pulled them their separate ways.
"There's no time!" the manager cried and marched him down the alley.
Hyejoon looked over her shoulder, searching for Hoseok and met his eyes--she knew his frantic look was reflected on her own face. To calm him, she quirked her lips in a grin. He grinned back, just he was walked out of the alley and out of sight.
"What happened to you?" her coworkers all asked in concern as they hurried to their hotel.
"Just... making more precious memories," she answered dreamily.
And she would've thought that it were just a Christmas dream, if not for the weight of the heart earrings dangling from her ears, their crystalline coolness brushing against her skin with every step.
One day, I know, our paths will cross again.

Don't let your IBS symptoms keep you from seeing the world or visiting relatives. With planning and perseverance, you can have a wonderful vacation. Visions of vacations dance in many heads at this time of year. But if you're one of the estimated 58 million people in the U.S. with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), the idea may sound torturous. It's bad enough to worry about recurring symptoms of bloating, gas, stomach cramping, constipation, or diarrhea when in your own hometown. What about when in unfamiliar territory? Plus, your digestive system may be so finicky that any changes in routine may aggravate symptoms. Such worries prevent many people from taking out-of-town trips. In a survey of 1,000 Americans, 28% of respondents with IBS-like symptoms avoided travel at least once in the past year, reports the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD). Nonetheless, IBS patients need not be deprived of holiday travel. "If it's something that you're really looking forward to doing, by all means, do it," says Nancy Norton, the IFFGD's president and founder. "We talk to people (with IBS) all the time who have been apprehensive about traveling, but they go and let us know they've had a wonderful time."CONTINUE READING BELOW With courage, preparation, and determination, it is possible to explore new places with IBS. Perhaps the trip, if relaxing, could even have a therapeutic effect. Of course the hassles of travel, such as lost luggage, unhappy kids, or a bout of traveler's diarrhea, could work against that. But even then, you may be able to use the same stress management strategies used for daily pressures at home. Stress busters include eating a well-balanced diet appropriate for your IBS, getting enough sleep and exercise, meditation, and doing something enjoyable. Reducing stress may, indeed, be one of the crucial elements to a good retreat. "There's definitely a benefit to taking a vacation, but people need to plan it so that it's not too stressful," says Sheila Crowe, MD, a gastroenterologist and spokeswoman for the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). "Don't feel like you have to see all the sights in the city. Maybe just enjoy a leisurely breakfast, and then only see two sights instead of four." It's important to do things you want to do rather than things you feel you ought to do, such as visiting everything and everyone, says Crowe. Resist over-planning and leave room for spontaneity. Yet plan enough so that you know there are safe places to go to the bathroom. Here are a few more tips from the experts on how to ease travel with IBS:
Before Your Trip
Choose a destination that you will enjoy. "Anyplace calm and relaxing is probably good," says Edward Blanchard, PhD, professor of psychology at the State University of New York at Albany. He says a frenetic, multicity tour of Europe might be more difficult for IBS patients.Check travel advisories for different parts of the world. This is a smart thing to do even if you don't have IBS. The CDC web site (www.cdc.gov) has a traveler's health section. It contains information about disease risks (such as travelers' diarrhea), vaccinations, and other prophylactics. Make sure to visit the site well before your trip as some immunizations take weeks to become effective.Ask a lot of questions. Knowing the who, what, when, where, and how of your journey can help avert stress and anxiety. Allow enough time to get to places to avoid rushing and to have time to assess a situation. "The less surprised one is, the better," says Leslie Bonci, MPH, RD, author of the American Dietetic Association Guide to Better Digestion. "The only surprises should be delightful surprises because you're in a beautiful place, or you discover a fantastic buy on silver." Some questions to ask include: Is there an early check-in for the hotel if I arrive in the morning? Is there a late check-out if I need one?Is there a refrigerator for my own snacks in the hotel? Is there a restaurant on the premises? What is on the menu? Are there grocery stores and restaurants in the area? Will I be able to request special meals in the plane, hotel, or restaurant? Investigate the bathroom situation. Is there a toilet on the bus? Are there designated times when airplane passengers cannot leave their seats? Will I need special coins or to buy toilet paper at certain restrooms? The answers to these questions could help better plan lavatory trips. Some IBS patients request aisle seats rows closest to the bathroom. Others feel more comfortable driving to their destination so they can stop as many times as they want. When driving, or out and about in an unfamiliar place, it may help to know the location of the nearest bathroom. Norton says people have checked the Internet for bathroom diaries and have mapped out the location of large chain bookstores with restrooms. Palm Pilot users have used Vindigo, a high-tech directory service. Learn how to say key words if traveling to a foreign country. Besides knowing how to say 'Where's the bathroom?' it will also help to be able to ask the locals things like: 'Can you make (a dish) without ...' and 'I can't tolerate. ...' You fill in the blanks with your particular food sensitivity or intolerance. This may mean going to a local library, a university, or private companies such as Berlitz for consultation on language, says Bonci.Be up front with your travel companions. The destination may not matter as much if people are honest with tour guides and travel buddies. "People have gone through bus tours of Europe, and they let (guides) know in the very beginning that if they needed to stop for a restroom, they would appreciate it," says Norton, noting that people are usually very understanding.Pack essentials. Bring a carry-on bag with extra clothes, medications, fiber supplements, bottled water, and snacks. You will want all of this with you in case your luggage gets lost and when there are no good food choices in transportation terminals. For emergencies, it will help to have handy your doctor's contact information and possible sites for medical care at your destination.
During Your Trip
Premedicate. For a long trip, it's a good idea for IBS patients with diarrhea to take antidiarrheal medicines such as Imodium or Lomotil if they know they can tolerate it, says Crowe. Some people become too constipated with the drugs. Crowe says IBS patients need to pay attention to their symptoms and to bring their usual medications and fiber supplements. "You want to have them in the plane or train, where you can't purchase these things," she says, noting that some destinations may also not have these drugs readily available. There are travelers, for example, who experience gas with changes in altitude. For these people, Crowe recommends bringing antiflatulents such as Gas-X. Other drugs that might give relief, depending on symptoms, include antacids, prescription antispasmodics (such as Levbid and Bentyl), and laxatives (such as Lactulose and MiraLax). Visit your doctor to find out the appropriate treatment for you. Keep meals as consistent as possible. Try to keep to the same serving amount and to the same number of meals. Many people end up miserable because they don't eat or drink enough, they gorge, or they eat foods that aren't agreeable to their systems. "Somebody might say, 'Hey, I didn't snack because I'm in a hotel room and there's nothing available,'" says Bonci. To this, she offers the following solution: Bring healthy snack foods you can tolerate, such as nuts, crackers, trail mix, a sports bar, or yogurt. They are better options than the fare offered in vending machines and transportation hubs. Watch your food and drink choices. To keep hydrated, opt for bottled water or Gatorade instead of carbonated beverages. It's better to buy liquids and other edibles from a hotel restaurant or grocery store instead of small fruit stands. Americanized guts may not be able to tolerate some foods in these places, says Bonci. If you decide to try a new food, experiment in small amounts, and try only one new thing per day, advises Bonci. However, Norton says vacation isn't a good time for people to experiment. "Stick with foods you're comfortable with," she says. Don't despair if IBS symptoms flare up. "I would invite people to think of vacation as almost like a scientific experiment," says Mary-Joan Gerson, PhD, a clinical psychologist in private practice in New York. "That gives people a sense of control." She suggests IBS patients ask themselves, 'What kind of IBS person am I?' Then try to learn something from the answers. In addition, Gerson says vacation is the perfect time to experiment with meditation and its healing properties. "If you start a simple type of meditation a week before (vacation), you can shift into that state at a moment's notice, even for 5 minutes somewhere, whether at a beach or pool-side," she says. Bonci recommends different foods, depending on the symptoms. Chamomile tea has an antispasmodic effect for stomach cramping. For constipation, she suggests traveling with fiber supplements or a box of ground or milled flaxseed. The dietary supplement can be sprinkled on salads, cooked vegetables, or cereals. To ease diarrhea, try fruit pectins such as Sure-Jell or Certo. "Fruit pectins are used to make jelly - to make jelly gel - but they also have a wonderful effect of slowing the emptying from the gut," says Bonci. Oatmeal can apparently do the same thing. The good news is that both oatmeal and fruit pectins come in small, easily transportable packets. While on vacation, it is, indeed, important to look out for your personal needs with IBS. After that, just try to take whatever comes your way in stride. Remember, traveling with any ailment takes some effort, but with IBS, it is entirely possible to take an out-of-town journey, and have fun. But make sure you first check in with your doctor for appropriate treatments. Bon voyage! https://crohnsdigest.net/crohns-disease-toiletriestravel/ Read the full article

It increases the level of metabolism and converts burned fat into energy rather than carbohydrates. These two steps are very important for losing weight. And these two features are included in Keto Lite. Read the full article to understand the benefits and side effects of this weight reduction supplement. What is Keto Lite? Keto Lite is the product recently introduced on the market for the purpose of losing weight. Its weight reduction pills guarantee the use of normal BHB ketones to eliminate fat. After all, that's what we're going to investigate today. One of the hardest things for people who lose weight is to follow an extraordinary diet. For example, he would probably prefer not to give up his comfort. In addition, reducing calories may also seem relatively incomprehensible. In this sense, we have the plot of an article such as Weight Loss Keto Lite. You need something to simplify the eating routine and the exercise process. After using these pills. You will realize that this is the # 1 weight reduction supplement on the market today. How Does Keto Lite Works? Keto Lite is the best weight loss supplement and its functioning is effective and wonderful. If you are looking for such an effective and wonderful product, you are in the right place. The idea behind the Keto Lite weight loss is that it triggers ketosis. This is a procedure that your body normally performs when it lacks carbohydrates and sugar to consume. For example, say you just ate meat all day (we do not suggest it). This would force your body to consume its sugar reserves and start consuming fats for vitality. Since you need to consume with oozing heat an overabundance of fat. After all, it's also the idea of the ketogenic diet. With this diet, you hardly consume carbohydrates (which is difficult to do) to trigger ketosis. Be that as it may, the vast majority would prefer not to follow such a prohibitive diet, which is why products such as pills such as Keto Lite tablets have been designed. Food and exercise program. Whether or not you need to make an improvement to a solid lifestyle. Keto Lite is the formula that represents 100% authentic work without any reaction. It is tested by laboratories. You can buy this product online from the official website of the manufacturer. Ingredients in Keto Lite: Keto Lite is produced with natural ingredients and all are pure and herbal. BHB ketones play an important role. BHB ketones make this supplement a product known as the # 1 weight loss supplement on the market or in humans. These are ketones that your body normally produces when it comes into ketosis. In this way, we think the idea here is that placing them in the body will trigger ketosis. Again, there is no evidence that this improvement works in a specific way. However, again, without review, we can not say without a doubt that they work this way. Benefits of Keto Lite? The benefits of Keto Lite are listed below: Reduce blood circulation. Improved insulin sensitivity. Less dependence on drugs. Recognizable improvements in cholesterol levels. Many other advantages ... Side Effects of Keto Lite? If you've never tried a weight loss supplement, it's hard to say that it's a guaranteed supplement. Otherwise Keto Lite has no side effects because it is made with natural ingredients and has been tested correctly by scientists. However, it has no 100% safe product confirmation. For example, this can mean a pain in the brain, nausea, muscle spasms or something similar. However, having said that, you only have to tune into your body while trying a new object like Keto Lite pills. Or on the other hand, the Keto Lite slimming pill for that matter. Because nobody can really tell how something will react in your body. By following these lines, stay safe and use appropriate precautions. Precautions Some precautions for taking these diet pills are the following: Pregnant women are not advised to use this supplement. This supplement is for people over the age of 18. Store this supplement in a dry and cool place. Where To buy Keto Lite? Keto Lite is the weight reduction supplement available only on the company's official website. You can search this site on the Internet in minutes. Just make a few steps before placing your order for Keto Lite. These are: Go to the site on the Internet. Fill out the form with basic information after selecting the desired product. Specify the payment method and details. Then simply order your product. You will find your supplement within a few weeks. Final Words Keto Lite is the excellent formula for weight loss that helps to reduce weight by burning fat and converting burned fats into vitality rather than carbohydrates. When you switch from eating carbohydrates to not eating them, you may experience nausea, bad mood or a lot of brain pain. In this sense, there is something to know about the possibility of the ketogenic diet beginning. You can't save that trend. The human food routine must consist of carbohydrates. In any case, if you do it to get in shape, you can pop out of the assets. That said, regardless of whether or not you use Keto Lite, the ketogenic diet is difficult. Moreover, it is also an extreme prohibition routine. Diet is a huge weight loss. In any case, regardless of whether or not you use Keto Lite pills, despite everything you need to train yourself. It makes your body fit and active all day. The bottle contains 60 capsules and you have to take 2 capsules a day at different times. You'll surely get the subtle and intelligent physique after regular use. Just order and have a beautiful body shape. Read the full article

six things i learned in 2016.
2016 was a challenging year but each challenge came with a very important lesson. here are six that i plan to bring along with me as i face 2017:
1. a bad day does not mean a bad life
-now this seems obvious but i cannot even tell you how many times i forgot this throughout the year. no matter how hard we try, there will be that one day in the week where everything feels like it is going wrong. you woke up with frizzy hair, you missed your bus, you lost your earphones, you failed your math test, the list just goes on! we get home after a really long day and we are just so full of negativity and for a lack of better words, we're just done. however, we forget that tomorrow is a brand new day!! tomorrow may be the BEST day of our lives and instead of resting up, we're up allllll night dwelling on what happened today. as cliche as it may sound, there is always a rainbow after the rain. so even if you are having a bad day, keep your chin up and know that there is always something to look forward to tomorrow.
2. you do not have to please everybody...
...simply because you can't. no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, there will always be someone who will have something to say and that's completely normal!! just like they all say, you can be the sweetest peach in the world but there's always going to be someone who just doesn't like peaches. there are seven billion people in the world and you just simply can't please all of them. some people will always have something bad to say about you but as long as you are keeping it real and you are not hurting anybody, you are doing it just right! keep doing you, boo.
3. love yourself.
-i never thought i'd ever say this but yep, justin bieber hit the nail right on the head. this goes without saying but honestly, it's so easy to forget to love ourselves. we're so quick to point out our flaws that we sometimes forget to appreciate our own beauty. we forget just how much we're worth. we have so much love and respect for the people surrounding us but we forget to treat ourselves the same way. in order for other people to fall in love with you, you must fall in love with yourself first. so next time you look in the mirror, stop pointing out the things that you think are wrong and start seeing all the beautiful things you have. you are special and there is nobody else in the world who can do you better than you can.
4. we only regret the chances we don't take.
-i say this sentence a lot but oddly enough, i suck at following it. let me tell you a story about someone really important to me. things started out SO well and i was glad to have a friend i could confide to. things started to escalate and i found myself becoming attached, and this scared the hell out of me. i'm not a person who easily gains feelings for another and once i start to feel that way, i detach myself. i try to stay away as much as possible. and besides, i've always had doubts about the person. they just seemed too nice. there was no way a person like them could just be geniuinely nice to a person like me. it seemed too good to be true. my friends pushed me and told me to just go for it, "ysabelle, you never know if you never try!" but instead, i did the exact opposite. i pushed them away. i distracted myself by meeting other people. besides, i've only known this person for a couple of months, it shouldn't be that hard to forget about them, right? and now fast forward to today, i lost one of the people i can tell everything to. daily conversations that run for hours on end turned into a few texts every once in a while and 2 snapchats per day (thank goodness for snapchat streaks, amirite?) and i have nobody else to blame but myself. i never really knew what people meant when they say you don't know what you got until you lose it until i let this person slip away, right through my fingers. i was talking to one of my best friends yesterday and i told him how much i want to go back in time so i could do the whole thing over again, so i could keep a friend who i miss a lot. although i have now come to terms with the situation, i will always regret this. but i've got a whole new year ahead of me, a whole year where i will get to meet more amazing people who will impact my life the way this person did. the only difference is now, i know that taking risks and taking chances is better than not trying at all.
5. having emotions is not a sign of weakness.
-2016 was a year when I proved to myself that i was a strong, independent woman. i thought that being a strong, independent woman meant that i couldn't let my feelings get in the way. a strong independent woman does not cry. a strong independent woman does not feel lonely. and because of that, i suppressed my emotions because i thought they were making me weaker. every time i felt sadness, i brushed it off and i masked it with fake "happiness." but just like they said in that one movie, pain demands to be felt. one day, all that sadness and emotions that i tried to suppress came crashing down on me and it almost broke me. that's when i learned that having these emotions is what makes us human and instead of masking them and pretending they don't exist, we should embrace them. it's okay to cry sometimes. it's okay to feel lonely. it's okay to be mad. in 2017, i will still be the woman i proved i could be in 2016, but i will be a strong, independent woman who knows that it's completely okay to be sad sometimes because embracing my emotions is what will make me a stronger woman.
6. let go of the things that no longer make you happy.
-i held onto people for a long time because i was scared that i was going to miss them. even though i had been unhappy, i stayed because there were too many happy memories that were tying me down. however, i realized that just because i miss the memories doesn't mean i miss the person. what i didn't know was that holding onto those people was actually putting so much weight on my shoulders. letting them go felt like a breath of fresh air. sometimes, i still think about all the happy memories i had with those people but then i look around me now and see all the new people who came into my life and then i would realize: not everyone you lose is a loss. :)
2016 was the year i learned how to see the brighter side of every situation. 2016 was the year i learned how to start appreciating myself. 2016 was the year i learned how to love without expecting anything in return. and most importantly, 2016 was the year i met people who have changed my life. i face 2017 with an open heart and a mind full of optimism. i hope you get what you want this year. may the year bring us nothing but love and happiness. xx

Entry 259
I needed to make a good impression.  Everyone was cheering me on in their way.  They petted me in my other form, whispered encouragement, and I had hid.  Meeting James’ parents was nerve wracking.  Most of them seemed to have met them before, but we were introducing them to the rest of the world, in a sense.  Most of the world didn’t know about magic.  Letting them into our collective was a risk, but James trusted them… I needed to trust them, but was I too late?
The others had been mentally prepared, eagerly lining up in the hallway when Mr. and Mrs. Somerset arrived.  I hid from the start… Was showing them anything even safe for them?  Part of me had hoped that appearing as a kitten would be enough, but everyone knew I was hiding.  I felt like I was lying to James’ parents, making them think I was adorable instead of a monster.
Would he be angry later?  He hadn’t seemed angry at all.  James was always so very kind and perfectly patient.  Watching him now that dinner was over showed no change.  We had gone back outside where Alma used her magic to clear the snow in a large area, lifting it from the ground before vaporizing it.
“She can control snow?” asked Mrs. Somerset.
I could talk!  I pictured different ways of telling her about the magic I watched Alma use, forming slowly into their patterns before affecting the world in a beautiful display.  Most people couldn’t see the residual energy throughout the world, but I could.  Not until I came here did I fully understand that seeing the energy was useful.  I hadn’t even a name for it before watching James give lessons in magic.  I knew every spell he had ever cast around me, though I didn’t dare use them.  Monsters shouldn’t use magic.
“She used several spells with residual energy and then her natural magic to heat the snow.” explained James.
Oops.  Somewhere in my imaginings, I had gotten carried away with my thoughts.  James spoke, explaining a little about Alma’s magic.  He could’ve described the spells more, talking about the interesting shape of the spell that lifted the snow, almost reflecting the crystalline structure of the snow itself.  Maybe I should’ve tried harder…  I considered the possibilities.
“But why lift the snow first instead of just heating it?” she asked next.
Oh!  I knew this one too.  I pictured different ways to attempt to explain the benefits to the grass this way, but I scratched one out after another.  I had seen the death of grass from temperature changes.  Having free time allowed me to observe many things that most seemed to miss.  As I tried to decide the best way to explain among my scenarios, Emma started speaking.  I had let this opportunity pass as well.
“She’s being nice to the grass.” replied Emma, smiling happily as she spoke.  “Alma could easily slowly melt the snow and then dry the ground, but that’d take more time and not look as flashy.  If she heated the area too rapidly, the grass would be damaged by the sudden change in temperature.  She probably could heat just the snow, but that’d be tricky.”
I compared Emma’s explanation to some of my own possibilities.  Hers was much shorter, easier to get out.  Forming words properly was such a pain, having to concentrate for small eternities on each part.  Emma knew more about plants than anyone here, possibly anyone in the world, so I took time considering why she gave such a simple explanation.  Wasn’t she supposed to be showing off?
“Emma would have an easier time of heating just the snow in a small area than I would.  Her awareness of the plants is exceptional.” stated Alma, her lip twitching into a smile briefly.
“Who would you like to see first?” questioned James, addressing his parents while his eyes were fixed on Alma.  He was often watching her.
“You, dear.” replied Mrs. Somerset, speaking a touch quicker than she had been.  Was she eager to see her son’s abilities?  “Sorry, I just… I want to see what you can do.”
She seemed eager, and who could blame her.  James was an exceptional person that was obviously beyond most in many ways.
“Mind if I help him demonstrate?” suggested Alma, almost humbly for her.  “James tends to hold back immensely when left to his own devices.”
“I’ll make us chairs!” offered Emma, grinning again.  “Oh.  Portentia’s joining us.”
She noticed the footsteps!?  Could Emma hear that well?  I knew her nose couldn’t possibly have caught the slight sense.  My mind raced through possibilities of Emma being able to hear things throughout the mansion, eavesdropping as much as me.  I let go of the idea as I subconscious inserted countless barefoot pictures throughout the scenarios.  Emma was barefoot now.  She could feel footsteps throughout the yard, and Portentia had probably just entered it, judging from the difference in her footsteps from before.  Her abilities with plants really were exceptional.  She might even find someone in a forest before me.
“She is?” asked Mr. Somerset, seeming surprised by the idea.
“Yes.  I can hear her now.” replied James before I decided how to confirm Emma’s assertion.
“Her suit’s damaged again.” added Alma, sounding unhappy.
I couldn’t tell the state of her suit the moment I heard her, not without extending my consciousness, but I hated doing that.  The out of body experience was too inhuman, too much proof that I didn’t belong.  Time dragged on before Portentia finally arrived, but I was aware that she had arrived relatively quickly compared with a human.  Her suit really was torn in multiple places, as though she were pierced over and over.  Bullets.  Many of them.  I pictured scenarios, wondering again if I should help her.  Though she ignored pain, she felt it.  There were too many micro expressions showing it.  Stopping thousands of bullets was as simple as plucking them out of the air as they very gradually drifted along.  Child’s play.  A monster fighting crime wouldn’t make me any less of a monster.  I’d be more like the supervillain crushing villains for territory, not a superhero like Portentia.
“What happened?” inquired Mr. Somerset, sounding slightly alarmed.
Before I had fully collected my thoughts on the subject, Alma was explaining “I’d wager some fool shot her with an automatic weapon from behind.  That’s rare.”  At the same time, she signed to Portentia <You’re not decent in that state.  Please get changed and join us.   We’re demonstrating magic.>
Portentia nodded and started running toward the house, probably understanding both messages.  She was accustomed to Alma.  I felt her movements through the house, the energy pulsing within her.  Portentia was the easiest person in the world to spot.
“What did you say?” questioned James in a whisper.
Speaking normally, Alma said, “I asked Portentia to join us after she’s changed is all.”
Liar.  Well, to Alma, the extra commentary might be considered necessary.  She was British.  Their ways were… different.
“She doesn’t get shot often?” questioned Mrs. Somerset.
I knew better, but I didn’t even try being the first to explain Portentia.
Alma seemed happy to reply, saying, “I am quite certain Portentia has been shot more times than anyone else alive.  I was merely meaning that being shot with an automatic weapon is rare.  Most criminals tend to use some form of handgun, especially an older weapon which was illegally obtained.”
“She can scratch that one off her bucket list now.” suggested one of the twins with a laugh.
Her sister was amused as well, saying, “Can you imagine the guy’s face when she turned around?”
Without knowing the “guy’s” appearance, I really couldn’t, though I supposed she meant the expression.  One of shock or horror would be appropriate in that scenario.  I doubted Portentia gave him time.  Mila was always praising improved efficiency, so Portentia had likely struck the shooter down as she turned.  I had seen her various strikes often enough to picture one with ease.
“She’s really going to have a large fan club in prison at the rate she’s going.” commented Jarod with a smile.  He seemed to have appreciated the twins’ jokes, showing no sign of deception as he spoke.
“Quite.  I have been debating whether or not I should attempt to do something regarding that problem.  As things are, criminals are probably becoming afraid of her, but allowing too many people to talk about what they saw could create an issue.” explained Alma as she seemed to consider the dilemma.
“You could spread rumors about her using a type of high tech, white body armor with regenerative properties under her suit.  I doubt many of her opponents get a clear look when she’s fighting, and those that do probably can’t believe what they’re seeing.” suggested Jarod, easily framing a solution.
I wished I could decide on a single solution that quickly.  There were always too many possibilities.  I could admit to myself that some only had very slight variations to them, but I saw enough to know how much minor variations could change an outcome, such as a jar of marbles being broken in gunfire eventually leading to the shooter tripping.  That one stray bullet could completely change the outcome of a scenario.  With Portentia present, things would go wrong… at least most places.  Not here.  Never here.
“I’ll consider your proposal.” replied Alma, smiling to show her approval.
“She actually is helping the city?” questioned Mr. Somerset.
“Portentia has single-handedly stopped hundreds of crimes, but I can’t vouch for how much she is helping.” replied Alma diplomatically.
I felt she simply didn’t want to admit that Portentia’s efforts weren’t in vain, despite the unfortunate side effects of her presence.  I still wondered if that was exaggerated to some degree, having not witnessed the problems first-hand.
“Well, then.  James, you should probably take a quick trip to the forest before we begin.  I do not plan on being gentle with you.” warned Alma.
“Ah.  As you wish.” he told her, smiling as he looked at her.
“Quick” was such a relative term.  James being quick made most of those present seem terribly slow, but he still crawled to my eyes, giving me plenty of time to wonder over which route he’d take, how long he’d remain in the forest, if the fey would gather, what his hair would look like when he returned, and other variables.  Everything about James was worth consideration.
Alma casually walked out to wait for her boyfriend, probably planning what terrible things she’d do to him as she tried to press him into taking this seriously.  I sometimes wondered if I should actually thank her for that day when she angered me for a moment.  The scenario had ran through my head many times, just like others.  If I hadn’t transformed on that day, I doubted the others would be quite so understanding now.  Our relationships wouldn’t be quite where they were without them understanding that I’m a monster in their midst.  I still didn’t understand why they didn’t mind.
When James returned, he seemed to be considering the situation.  A while later, he formed a spell to push Alma from behind.  There was also one to hold her feet while a third was to bind her arms.  Instead of attempting to fight James for the energy, she drew from the energy radiating out of her, blocking the spells and casually blocking James’ punch when he closed the two-hundred-ish feet between them.  Changing the block to a throw with a slight change in her hand’s position, she hurled James into the air while creating a spell I hadn’t seen yet.
James had easily formed a force against his feet, allowing him to seem to push off from nothing, diving back at her to deliver a kick, which she sidestepped, grabbed, and used to smash him into the ground.
I knew James could fight very well, having observed as he taught the others.  Both of these two were masters at follow-up attacks with every motion leading into another.  Despite my advantages, they encouraged me to learn to do the same, but I couldn’t quite get into that mindset.  If I hit either of them with much force, they’d splatter, being no more solid than anything else.  The idea horrified me.  I was the stuff of nightmares, not something to fight.
The two had apparently missed the little fairy fluttering over to them.  A large beam of light shot from her into Alma, scorching the ground as well as burning off some of Alma’s clothes.  Alma seemed annoyed, despite the fairy’s playful expression.  I tried to mentally ready myself in case I needed to defend the fairy.
Alma covered herself in mist and shared her thoughts.  The immense anger in Alma’s thoughts as she shared them didn’t match the happy picture of the fairy fluttering over to sit by the rest of us.  The fairy hid behind James, showing her playful attacks against Alma.  The blatant confusion from her was funny compared with Alma’s anger.  Surprisingly, Alma seemed to be trying to sooth the fairy, depicting herself in the image as a gentle person setting the fairy on Emma’s shoulder.  I would have never even considered that scenario.
“Sorry for the interruption, but I need to go change.  I’ll return momentarily.” announced Alma, her face clear of emotion.
James quickly said, “That was my fault.  My little friend got a bit excited and wanted to play.  I forgot to tell her what we were doing.”  He walked toward us as he spoke, appearing to have finished showing off for the moment.
“That was a thick laser.  I wonder how much energy went into it.” considered Jarod.
“The fairy did that?” asked Mrs. Somerset, sounding surprised.
“Well, Alma did mention my little friend can create lasers.  Had Alma been expecting it, she would’ve protected her clothing from the heat.  I owe her another outfit as things stand.” replied James, not looking upset by the situation.  He never did seem to like fighting, despite insisting everyone learned how.
The little fairy seemed confused as she show her view of Alma leaving.  There was still a hint of fear in the image, and I could smell it from her.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get accustomed to seeing images in my head.” asserted Mr. Somerset.
“Did you see Alma admonishing my friend?” questioned James.
“Yep!” exclaimed Emma with a smile.  She could find a way to be happy about most things, which I adored.
Looking slightly uncomfortable, Brandon said, “She felt so angry.”
“I didn’t realize how intense her anger was.” agreed Brenna.
“I-I’ve seen w-worse.” I muttered, wanting them to know that Alma’s anger wasn’t that overwhelming.  Thinking of the anger as immense was just another way of ignoring that darkness inside of me.  Thankfully, no one questioned me.
“Can all of you do that?” inquired Mrs. Somerset after an interval of silence.
“No.  Apparently, you need a particularly strong connection to fey heritage.” explained James.
“Out of us, only Alma and I can pull it off.  She’s still a bit better at it than I am.” added Emma, sending out an image of smiley faces to all of our minds with a great feeling of joy.  She was such a happy person.
“You win on content in my book!” exclaimed Brandon, grinning broadly.
“It’s the one for easy reading.” suggested one of the twins.
Nodding in agreement, the other said, “Look on the short shelves marked ‘children’  If you want a copy.”
“They know my brother so well.” agreed Brenna, sighing as if she were put upon by his personality.
Brandon crossed his arms while making a vain attempt to look disapproving.
Alma arrived, looked around, and asked “What did I miss?”
“Brandon’s commentary on your thoughts.” replied Jarod, still smirking.
“I’m sure that was enlightening.” replied Alma quietly.  “Shall we continue?”
“Yes, but would you mind my little friend joining us?” inquired James.  “She seems pretty eager, despite your reprimand.”
Alma sighed, but she said, “Fine.”  When they both resumed their places away from us, she shut her eyes.  Was she going to use heat alone to know where everyone was?
James seemed to study her for a time, but Alma quickly moved dodging to her left and kicking James hard enough to send him flying.  She followed by creating a flash of light in front of his eyes, but James easily caught himself with a spell of his own.  As she punched at him, he grabbed her arm, but she used a spell to immediately alter her direction, causing him to lose his grip.
The little fairy was ignored as she continued a vicious assault against James.  I was certain he could’ve made his own openings, given his abilities, but he didn’t, holding back despite her constant attempts to land a solid hit.  His defense was impressive to witness, and I was certain the others could at least appreciate the sounds of these two fighting even if their eyes couldn’t follow the motions.
Eventually, Alma stopped attacking, smiling at James as if impressed by his efforts.  She was obviously the dominant combatant today, but I felt like James wasn’t trying too hard.
Once they arrived next to us, Alma said, “See.  He’s completely uninjured.”
“I can’t say I really caught much, honestly.” admitted Mr. Somerset.  “I might as well have been seeing special effects.”
In response, Alma showed her view of the situation through her telepathy.  I was shocked.  I knew her vision wasn’t that great from other times, but I never would have guessed at the intensity of her love.  She had appeared as if she were attempting to dismember James with her attacks, but the love and admiration coming through in the images was undeniable.  James looked just as stunned as I felt.
Breaking the silence, Emma exclaimed “Your feelings really came through with that one!”  Grinning suggestively, she gave Alma a wink.
Alma actually blushed, saying, “I’m terribly sorry.  I obviously need more practice.”
Mrs. Somerset shook her head, smiling and crying.  Then she hugged Alma and told her “Never be sorry for that.  I wouldn’t have guessed how much you care.”
“That… that was incredible.  Why was the world sparkling though?” questioned Mr. Somerset, looking as if he were still trying to find his bearings.
“Oh.  I always see residual energy, so that’s how the world looks to me.” replied Alma.
“M-me too.” I admitted, not wanting her to feel weird in his eyes.
“James doesn’t actually give off light.  I’ve checked.  He just seems to glow.” teased Jarod with a smile.
Taking Jarod’s hand, one of the twins said, “If not for Lady Pendreigh’s spell, all of us would probably be attempting to hug him.”
Then the other added “It’s happened before.”
“Quite embarrassing.” they claimed in unison.
“There are worse things than urges to hug.” stated James, though he seemed a touch embarrassed.
I completely agreed, pushing back against the darkness as it called to me.  There were much, much worse things.
