DFTF & the gist of everything; a theory
(warning: long post, no cut)
*cracks knuckles* OKAY. so i’m about to give my two cents on the theories surrounding the comeback but this is gonna be a long one so strap in and enjoy the ride i guess??
but before i get started on the DFTF stuff i just want to do a bit of recap on the members’ powers and their counterparts back in mama era (yes i’m going all the way back bear with me). from the beginning, we are shown that each member has a special power and those from exo-k have a counterpart in exo-m and the pairings went like this:
xiumin (frost) - suho (water manipulation)
luhan (telekinesis) - kai (teleportation)
kris (dragon’s flight) - chanyeol (phoenix’s fire)
lay (healing) - baekhyun (light)
chen (lightning) - kyungsoo (enhanced strength/earth?)
tao (time control) - sehun (wind manipulation)
i think these parings are fine but for me a couple of changes could have been made to make more sense to their powers. in my opinion, i think it should be:
xiumin - suho
luhan - sehun
kris - chanyeol
lay - baekhyun
chen - kyungsoo
tao - kai
obviously, xiumin/suho make sense bc their powers are related to each other where suho’s is the foundation of xiumin’s more refined control of the element. kris/chanyeol also makes sense for the same reason. for lay/baekhyun, healing powers can reconstruct damages from wounds and even bring dying flowers (maybe even people) back to their full health. basically, lay restores a living thing’s energy. but light is a form of energy too. flowers need light to survive and so does the rest of the planet for that matter. but i think baekhyun uses that light to be able to concentrate the energy into his hands to form a beam powerful enough to blast anything in its path (who are u? tony stark??).
Tumblr media
tbh, i’m still kind of unclear about ksoo’s power on whether he can actually manipulate earth (like an earthbender) or if he has enhanced strength. either way, he can shake the earth and obviously he’s more powerful on the ground. with lightning, it can travel three ways: cloud to cloud, cloud to air, and cloud to the ground. you can think of their powers as being related by how the fissures in earthquakes are similar to the patterns of lightning. kyungsoo causes the rumbling in the earth, while chen causes rumbling (thunder) in the sky (hence why they are parallels of each other in mama mv)
Tumblr media
for those i think should be switched, we’ll start with luhan/sehun. sehun has the power of wind but throughout the history of their powers i don’t think we’ve actually seen him have full control of his ability? in mama, he’s in the desert (this is gonna come up again later!!) with a raging tornado behind him. i mean, i guess he could be doing that intentionally but for the sake of this entry i’m going to assume he can summon the wind but he can’t fully control it. meanwhile, luhan can easily manipulate objects and we could think of this as him just actually manipulating the air around that object. luhan’s control of the air is more stable whilst sehun’s is the opposite.
Tumblr media
for tao/kai i think it makes more sense for them to be counterparts since kai travels through space and while tao’s power is to stop/start time, he has the to potential to travel through time as well. these two go hand in hand because if they’re together, they’d be even stronger as traveling through time could be faulty since the time you might want to go back or forward to isn’t going to be in the same exact location as you are now.
BUT WAIT! we’re left with 9 members so what happens now??
i actually made a “theory” about exo having new counterparts back in 2016 but i’m scrapping the main idea from it and will just be referring to particular points going forward. so for now, let’s go with the assumption that their counterparts are as they are in my version. this means that sehun, chanyeol, and kai no longer have their counterparts. now what?
let’s first make two assumptions:
their powers become stronger when they are with their counterparts: like i’ve mentioned above, they’re stronger together than they are apart. but additionally, it’s a bit safer for them to be separated since they are much more easily located by the red force if they are all in one place.
if one loses their counterpart (i mean for good and not just separated by distance) then eventually, the power of the one who was lost will manifest itself in the one who is left
for (2), it would make sense then as to why in sehun’s pathcode teaser, he finds the toys floating in mid-air. at this point, he’s unaware that he’s actually the one doing this. (@raven-rin points out the similarities between luhan’s scene in mama with the orbs and sehun’s “planet” in the DFTF teaser photo which supports my theory that they are connected in this way).
Tumblr media
in chanyeol’s pathcode teaser, he seems to have lost some control of his power whereas in mama mv, he was able to keep a small flame in his hand under control.
Tumblr media
for kai, we’ve mainly see him teleporting on earth and he’s had quite a good control on his power since the beginning. but i think now, with tao’s power manifesting itself in him, he’s now able to teleport beyond just earth. we can take his mmmh mv for example too where he’s teleporting between worlds and currently, his power symbol is that of a hexagon with a keyhole in the center; he is the door between worlds and the main connection between the others.
SO THE POINT TO ALL THIS IS there was a theory posted by @vampwrrr and pointed out by @loeyarc on twitter about how the members are not in their own planets but they actually landed in someone else’s. i think this could be true since xiumin is in a planet with aurora’s (baekhyun’s planet), kyungsoo is in a red planet that could possibly be chanyeol’s. kai’s might be in kyungsoo’s and baekhyun’s in a planet where there’s ice which could mean he’s in xiumin’s planet. i’m not sure about the power swapping (tho i absolutely love the idea) but i think they might have just landed in planets they were closest to.
but i want to point out how chanyeol is in a planet that looks like a desert
Tumblr media
now, this could actually be sehun’s planet in parallel to where he was in mama. sehun, on the other hand, is actually in luhan’s planet (going back to the reference @raven-rin made).
Tumblr media
i think here, he’ll finally realize why his powers have been glitching (from pathcode) and how he now has the ability to move objects like luhan did (disclaimer 1: since not all members are present for this comeback, who’s to say they can only land in the planets of the active members’ planets??. disclaimer 2: not saying luhan is still member, he clearly isn’t. i meant for members who are enl*sted. for all we know, one or two of those planets could be chen’s or lay’s, etc.)
idk if DFTF is a pre-quel to power or a follow up but *if* the latter was the case, then the end of power makes sense. throughout the mv, we see suho, xiumin, kai, chen, chanyeol, sehun, and kyungsoo fighting the giant red force robot in possibly a different planet (i’m thinking the exos actually banded together to track down the red force themselves to get their powers back and in every planet they encounter these RF bots who keep destroying the planets they occupy) but for most it, baekhyun isn’t there fighting with them. he does show up near the end which confirms that he’s in the same place as the others but why isn’t he fighting?
let’s recall that their powers are stronger when they’re with their counterparts. if we go by the theory from lucky one that some members lost their powers, then it makes sense why none of them were able to fight off the bot with their powers alone (which they regained by defeating it in the end). i do think they are still strong at this point but their powers are weak. as for baekhyun, his counterpart is far away. lay hasn’t really been with them since monster era so he was probably playing it safe by not actively fighting alongside the others. (if he’s powerless and separated from lay then he’s the most vulnerable compared to the others)
at the end of power, we see baekhyun falling into the water/ocean. how did this happen? if exo left the planet they were in in power, it’s possible that after defeating the bot, it triggered the red force of their location. the red force then proceeds to destroy that planet in an attempt to kill exo once and for all
Tumblr media
(disclaimer 3: screencap is meant to show an example, not that this is exactly in the same timeline as power)
but the exos manage to escape in their ship in time but their ship malfunctions (could be hit by debris from the planet’s explosion) and they have no choice but to leave the ship. i think their ship has “escape pods” meant for each one of them as a way to escape safely in case of an emergency. but let’s say these pods will immediately head for the planet they were set to (again, kind of like a safety protocol type thing where they get sent to different locations to avoid detection from the red force). to add, say that in the chaos, the exos just went into whatever pod they got to first which is how they end up landing in different planets.
maybe something happens to baekhyun’s pod and he has to manually eject himself from it. but we see he lands in the middle of an ocean
Tumblr media
and in his DFTF photo teaser, we see he’s in a planet with ice caps and water
Tumblr media
you still with me? i’m about to tie everything together and finish i promise!
remember the second assumption we made? “the power of the one who was lost will manifest itself in the one who is left”. what if the red force know this? what if the reason they’ve been after exo is because of this fact? but if that were the case, where would the powers manifest in if the exos are gone? i know the lot of us skip the intro of mama but it states that an eye of red force “coveted the heart of the tree of life and the heart slowly grew dry” which meant that the tree of life is the source of the twelve force’s powers.
Tumblr media
everything started with the tree of life and in an attempt to save its remaining powers, they split it in half and hid the halves from the red force. the power of the tree of life is what connects exo. but as mentioned, if one is lost, the power will continue to live inside another. if the red force destroys all of exo, the powers they possess will be returned to the tree of life and if the tree of life is whole again, the red force will in no doubt abuse its power and continue their plans from the very beginning.
then we can say that in lucky one, it was another tactic used by the red force to extract their powers. those extracted powers were then used to create x-exo. since x-exo are under the red force’s orders, if they manage to destroy exo, their powers will undoubtedly go to their x-counterparts. but as the red force control’s x-exo they still have the upper hand once this plan is set in stone. i mention this to get us back on the current timeline seeing as DFTF may be strongly connected to power which precedes obsession. but then again, i’m not even sure about the exact order of the timeline but this is just my theory so it’s just for fun!
/end.

My First Novel!
Hey guys! This is my first post here and I’m posting the first chapter of my novel as a little teaser to advertise. If this interests you, contact me and I’ll send you the link to read more!
"And here is the break room." Mr. Lenich turned the corner, and I followed close behind. I found that my supervisor took another left, entering into a relatively large room. The doorway was large, twice the size of the average entrance. The flooring and paint on the walls were the same as in the hallway and every other room I had been in thus far - extensive black tiling and eggshell white paint. The room had several tables and chairs scattered about, most with workers enjoying their lunch breaks. I was taken aback by the amount of vending machines covering the break room's back wall: one water dispenser, a machine for an assortment of both regular and diet sodas, two for all sorts of chip varieties, one for several different types of candies, and finally one vending machine for a dozen brands of salty snacks and goods.
As soon as we stepped into the breakroom, I could hear multiple workers begin to whisper but could not comprehend more than a few words: the new girl, professional, only twenty-two, Laine, proud.
Although I couldn't, Mr. Lenich seemed to understand every word the workers were saying. "I believe your reputation precedes you, Miss Nichol."
"I have no idea what you mean by that, sir."
"Oh, come on, Miss Nichol. Mr. Lenich put a hand on my shoulder, pulling me closer despite my discomfort. "You shouldn't have to be modest when you're with your people, your fellow gamers! First, everyone here looked up to your father, and now we all look up to you, myself included."
"Please don't bring up my father, sir." It was all that I could think of saying. It had already been seven years since my father had passed, but I still didn't like to talk about the event, still refused to accept the fact that my best friend was forever gone. I chose to ignore the fact that I would never again see my closest companion, never again have a conversation with him.
I wiped a tear from my eye and smiled at my new coworkers sitting in front of me. Mr. Lenich was right; this wasn't high school where I would be bullied for being a female gamer. This wasn't college where I was ridiculed for being the only girl pursuing an education and career in programming. This was my job - Byte's Incorporated - where I could embrace my online persona. This was a safe place for me where everyone respected my reputation. Here, I could finally be myself without any repercussions - a professional, award-winning female gamer, the proven best in my state. In June, I was competing against forty-nine others, one from each state other than my own, to decide who is the best in the country.
"If you don't mind, Miss Nichol, our next stop on tour is right over here." Mr. Lenich smiled and turned towards the doorway, motioning me into the hallway.
"Okay." I waved goodbye to my coworkers in the break room before stepping out into the hallway. I followed Mr. Lenich down the hallway. After a few seconds of walking, Mr. Lenich unlocked a door on the left titled "Chief Executive Officer, Founder Laine Landborn." I couldn't believe it; was Mr. Lenich really going to show me the company's CEO and founder's office? Was I really about to meet my idol, the man second only to my late father, Laine Landborn?
"This is the office of the main boss, Mr. Laine Landborn. Unfortunately, we aren't allowed to actually go inside right now as he's not here at the moment..."
Not here?
"...so you'll have to wait until later to meet him. Normally, employees don't get to meet the CEO on their first day. Still, Mr. Landborn always makes it a point to personally know his company's line of beta-testers."
"Personally?" I looked up at Mr. Lenich with a hopeful face. I then looked into the CEO'S office. Mr. Landborn's desk was surprisingly clean and tidy - in one corner was a flower pot holding a bouquet of several crimson red tiger lilies. On the opposite end of the desk was a stack of multiple brightly coloured folders and white binders. A window directly behind his desk, covered in transparent black curtains with a bookcase on either side. The left bookcase held all different kinds of video games and small consoles. The right bookcase contained several other black binders and books. In front of Landborn's desk was a thin dark red carpet - as red as blood - with two stationary black cushioned chairs facing the desk.
"And now to our last stop on the great Byte tour." Mr. Lenich gently moved me back a couple steps and shut the door. He locked the door back and moved to the door directly across from the CEO's office, this door titled "Beta-Testing Room 1". "This will be where you'll work during your time here with us. Now, fun fact: this was the room where Laine Landborn himself worked during his first two years of this company's life, and no one else has worked in this room in the fifteen years since. So you'll be the first."
"Really?" I smiled as I excitedly stepped into the beta-testing room, looking around with absolute wonder. It was unbelievable to think that I would be working in the same room that Byte's CEO used to work in. Suddenly, my mind was overflowing with thoughts: was this the same couch that Landborn used to sit on? Did the consoles I saw in his office used to be in here? The room where I would now spend eight hours of my day was the same room where the Laine Landborn used to spend his time.
"Yes, really." Mr. Lenich chuckled and shifted his weight from one foot to the other. "If you'll excuse me, I need to quickly run to the bathroom. Get yourself settled in, and I'll be back in a few minutes to show you out."
"Okay." I watched Mr. Lenich walk down the hallway to the restrooms. I took a deep breath and sat down on the white couch. It was of modern style, and both it and its small black pillows were extremely comfortable - once I sat down, I never wanted to stand up again. I pulled off my white cushioned tennis shoes. I brought my feet up onto the couch beside me, knocking down one of the pillows accidentally. I leaned over to prop it back up. I discovered that behind the pillow hid a small splatter of mysterious red liquid, almost black with age - a discovery that made me freeze. My mind raced with possibilities. It's probably just a drink Landborn spilled, or possibly makeup from his wife. Or maybe even... my paranoia made me sick, and I quickly repositioned the pillow in its proper place. I took a deep breath in preparation and picked up the other two cushions. Behind one, the one farthest from the first, was no stain. The cushion was perfectly clean and white. However, the pillow closest to the first, was a more prominent red stain, double the first size, and darkened with age. I gasped and quickly dropped both pillows onto the floor, backing away and tripping over my shoes. I gasped again and yelled out as I hit my head on the floor. It was a soft carpet, but it felt as if there was hardwood or even concrete underneath. My hand shot up to the back of my head. I pushed my white hair out of my face while fighting against the vomit rising in my throat.
I rushed to my feet, the speed almost making me fall back down again. I shoved one shoe onto my foot and went to put on the other but stopped when I heard the door open. "Mr. Lenich?" I asked as I looked up, still holding onto the coffee table for support with my foot in the air, my shoe halfway on.
"So Jeremiah was the one that told you to work in here." When I looked up at the door, Mr. Lenich wasn't the man I saw standing in the doorway - it was the founder and chief executive officer of Byte's Incorporated, Laine Landborn. "How many times now have I told him and everyone else to stay clear of this room? Five times now? About to become six?"
"I'm not supposed to be here?" I asked as I finished putting on my shoe. I looked up at Landborn and tried my best to stay calm. Half of me wanted to be excited - Laine Landborn was standing right in front of me! The other half of me, the sane half of me, wanted to run away, to get as far away from here as I possibly could. I had just found some very suspicious stains on the couch that used to belong to the very man now staring down at me, walking closer to me with every passing second. Before I knew it, I was looking up at Laine Landborn, and my heart was racing.
"What is your name, miss?"
"Hannah Nichol..." I replied reluctantly, not sure if I wanted this man to know my name at all. What other information could he find out about me? What would he do with that information?
"Well, Hannah Nichol," Landborn talked as his gaze also shifted towards the couch. My pulse struck an all-time high as I watched his expression fall, his jaw tighten. "I believe I have something to show you."
"Okay..." I swallowed hard and followed behind Landborn out into the hallway.
"One moment." Once in the hall, Landborn pulled out a set of keys and locked the door we had just walked out of. As Landborn began walking, Mr. Lenich turned the corner and froze once he saw Landborn. Landborn turned to Mr. Lenich and held out his hand, palm up. "Have another key made for this room again, and you're fired."
Mr. Lenich swallowed hard and nodded, taking out his own set of keys. He removed one key from the ring and placed it in Landborn's hand. "Yes, sir. It won't happen again."
"Now, Hannah," Landborn smiled and resumed walking. "Right this way."
I took one last look at Mr. Lenich and took a deep breath before following Landborn. For some reason, we only went across the hall... which was the office of Laine Landborn.
"Step inside, please," Landborn said with a smile as he opened the door. I swallowed hard and stepped inside, my chest feeling as if it was about to explode. "This will only take a moment," Landborn said as he closed the door behind us both, locking and shutting it tight.

I'm so sorry to bother you and feel free to ignore this if it's annoying but PLEASE I am literally begging for more info about Cynthis??? PLEASE???? I LOVE HIM??? MUST KNOW???? ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Literally none of these asks are a bother at ALL, quite the opposite, so please don’t apologize! It makes me SO happy to see people like my art and are interested in my characters! So… I’ll try to cover the basics but if you wanna know more feel free to let me know!
Context: Cynthis exists in two settings, because I am weak for AUs and using the same characters over and over again in different things. First one is my comic “My Superhero Husband” which I made a teaser for a while back and plan on continuing it as soon as I have some free time on the side. Second, the one all the moodboard drawings are from, is a cyberpunk story/RP I’m writing with @reversedkore—we’re writing it for fun and it’s messy and it’s out of order, so we don’t really have any plans of sharing the full thing, but I can at least share some info, and maybe some pages of Cynthis’ backstory!
This is gonna be kinda long so I’m putting it under the cut, but please don’t feel obligated to read the whole thing!
Setting: We’re in the far future and there’s spaceships and there’s an intergalactic Empire who controls everything, and there’s androids, and it’s kinda dystopian, except most people are queer one way or another, because this is our story and we do what we want. Society is divided in two sides: the Noblus, who are like nobility except it’s a bought title, and they have to pay millions to keep it every year, and the Hands, who are literally everyone else.
The current Emperor, James, is the first Hand-turned-Noblus to earn the throne. He’s a bit of an arrogant self-centered prick who kinda ends up being the bad guy, but it’s complicated and we love him.
Magik: Due to experiments done decades ago, now a small percentage of people are born with powers that we’re calling “magik” because we are edgy and unimaginative like that. There’s three types of magik: Techs (communicate with technology), Warpers (they can literally warp the fabric of spacetime and do shit like teleport, time freeze, gravity control etc. which is fun but also their powers are killing them), and the most common ones, Shockers (different types of electrokinesis). The Empire doesn’t allow non-Noblus magik users the tech that helps them properly use their magik though, unless they join the military, the police force.
Backstory: So, Cynthis had to leave his home planet at a very young age and join the Fleet (their version of the military) so he could get the tech that helped him control his powers. He comes from a planet where all life is considered sacred, so for many years he refuses to kill. But unlike most Shockers, his power is limited to touch—he can’t send out stuff like bolts of electricity. Nobody really takes him seriously as a kid cause Shockers are like canon fodder and his powers aren’t that great, and purely out of spite he becomes the best one in class. If you have time to kill and you wanna read some snippets of his childhood, you can find them here.
Forward several years, he’s been part of special forces units, he’s earned some medals, and is considered one of the best the Fleet has to offer. And then the Emperor decides that Cynthis is both skilled and pretty, so he assigns him to be his personal bodyguard, and Cynthis hates this, but the money is very good. Then emotions and morality and a whole bunch of factors get involved and things get complicated.
Personality: Cynthis tends to be flat, cynical and sarcastic. Though he used to be a bit more idealistic, now he’s of the opinion that nothing ever changes anyway, so why even try? He also has a bit of a guilt complex and always tries to blame others for things. Despite that, he’s straightforward and honest, with no taste for small-talk and pleasantries. He is not great at understanding emotions and social cues, and is especially thick when it comes to realizing that someone is flirting with him. You could be handing him flowers and saying “I LOVE YOU” and he’d still be like “???” He has shitty self esteem.
Interests: Outside his job and training, his interests tend to change quickly. He picks up random hobbies all the time, and then some months later drops them: sewing, gardening, snowboarding, knitting, carving, fishing, hiking—you name it and the chances are he’s done it. Sometimes he comes back to them, sometimes he doesn’t. He loves plants though, that doesn’t change.
Mental Health: Though he keeps himself distracted most of the time, Cynthis doesn’t exactly have the best mental health possible. He shuts himself off from other people, and sometimes has self-harming tendencies. He has a lot of guilt surrounding things he’s done, and often goes through long depressive periods. Though he used to be more hopeful, that’s been replaced by cynical pessimism. He’s 33 and he feels old.
Dysphoria: Cynthis knew he was trans since he was a kid, but he couldn’t start hormone treatment till he was 18, because the Fleet did not allow it. He’s gotten top surgery since then, and that’s helped his dysphoria a lot, but doesn’t want bottom surgery. He’s not as bulky as most of the other guys he served with, and he’s not very comfortable with his body in general, but his dysphoria nowadays is more of a background thing, rather than something unbearable. There’s days where he doesn’t even think about it.
Relationships: Cynthis has a boyfriend called Archimedes, who is a Noblus fashion designer, and about 8 years younger than him. Archimedes is the kind of person who says he’ll get a coffee and orders a mocha with extra whipped cream, croissants on the side. I adore him. He’s idealistic, and naive, and sheltered from the world, but he’s incredibly kind. He hates the Emperor and the whole Empire system, but is too scared to leave his family and go fight for what he believes in. The two are very different but somehow click together. Archimedes makes Cynthis feel hopeful again.
Things get more complicated when James, the Emperor, gets involved. Though Cynthis hates him at first, over the years the two grow closer, and they end up having a very intense, somewhat toxic relationship. They bring out the best and the worst in each other. Cynthis can talk to him about things he’s never been comfortable discussing with Archimedes, and James actually begins it trust Cynthis and value his opinion.
A bunch of very messy things happen and plot and blah blah blah, but the most important point is that the “love triangle” turns to an OT3, and you can pry these three out of my cold dead hands.
Oh god this really has gotten long. Okay. I’m going to stop now?? Thanks for the ask and I hope this kinda answered some questions!

1. Tell us about your WIP!
Whoa boy where do I start.
Hadrian the Scholar is a kind of fantasy but a very weighted one, no wizards or anything. I don’t have the ability myself. It is set in a fantasy world (loosely based off of real countries in about the 1880′s). There is a dash of magic and fantasy themes, but the world has been disillusioned in the wake of industry and the rise of science. In plain explanation–
It focuses on two different plot lines. There are ten chapters that function as backstory for Hadrian’s formative years between the ages of 15 and 25. The main plot deals with Hadrian at age 35 and he is on the run from the Loyalists. He has a map that leads to millions of gold coins and antiques that he is perusing so he can escape the whole ‘Wanted for Treason’ business.
In the chapters where he is a young man, he is living a very humble life working at a newspaper. He meets and befriends the heir to the wealthiest family in the city, Douglas Blue. In the course of those ten years, the two young men form a deep bond that eventually leads to them happily in love and living together. Because of this, Douglas’ father threatens to cut him off, leaving the two of them dirt poor.
Then Hadrian’s godfather comes to him with a promise of millions of gold. More than they could spend in six lifetimes. Hadrian runs off with him without any meaningful explanation, leaving Douglas spiteful and angry, to chase after a treasure map that will give the both of them a comfortable future together. While Hadrian is away, Douglas joins the Aerial Fleet and the Loyalists as a way to get back into his father’s good graces.
Thing is, Hadrian’s godfather is a wanted for being the leader of the Scholars, a revolutionist group in direct opposition to the Loyalists. A year passes and Douglas is now serving under his father on the flagship. Hadrian has had a hell of a year, losing his leg, betraying his godfather, and just wants to get back home to Douglas and buy him a hell of a lot of flowers to make up for it.
Hadrian boards The Turtledove, a small airship headed for his home city. In the middle of a storm, the flagship appears in the clouds and blows the Turtledove out of the sky, killing everyone on board... save Hadrian and a child named Linco Redblum. Hadrian knows that is Douglas’ ship and believes for the next ten years that the love of his life tried to kill him.
Douglas, however, is ignorant that Hadrian is on board. He believes that he was destroying as ship of smugglers. He is eventually told by his father, and spends the next ten years believing he murdered the love of his life.
So the story opens after those ten years apart. Hadrian is 35 years old and the leader of the Scholars within the city (of which he only officially joined because he found out about a plot against the Blue family and stepped into stop it). Douglas Blue is a celebrated Loyalist and Commodore. Then Hadrian’s identity is exposed and he is forced to leave the city, finding the crew of The Waltz Rio. Aalemn and Lotti, the official and unofficial captains of the ship (respectfully), are intrigued by the map Hadrian carries and agree to take him on a cross-continent journey to see it to it’s completion.
So about 50 chapters will be Hadrian gallivanting about the world, solving mysteries, surviving assignation attempts, meeting old friends (who also try to kill him), and with Douglas, the one person he ever loved, in direct pursuit of him. If Douglas catches him, Hadrian will be hanged for treason, and Douglas has to relive the burden of murdering his love for a second time (with certainty this time.)
The concept of the map is more of a vehicle to move the plot forward and to keep Hadrian chasing that idea of a ‘Perfect Life’, which for Hadrian has always meant to have more money that he can spend. A part of his broken brain believes that if he becomes a millionaire, Douglas will someone fall back into his life.
Map aside, the story is more about the characters that weave in and out of the story. There is a major theme of interconnection in the lives of these near strangers, how they all come together through these thin threads of connection.
I also slipped and fell and accidental wrote in a whole idea that money sure does make things easier, but will ultimately not get you what you want.
A one line teaser for this would go something like, ‘Idiot follows map with team of frienemies while pissed off ex-boyfriend tries to kill him’ but there is so much more to it than that?
5. Top five formative books?
I answered this for coveofmaddness! It was a weird list, I admit.
10. Pick an author (or writing friend) to co-write a book with
Ideally, some day my wife ( @queerloveandspaceships) and I will do a collaboration outside of our RP’s that we do to stay sharp. Who am I kidding, I do them with her to keep writing. She writes so much as it is.
Also it would be nice someday to work with @coveofmadness and @drderange on something new and (since I am involved) really complex. I feel like we have similar interests in character creation and in a love of history. It would be fun!

For another part of the 'Spring Day' theory, I was thinking: when jungkook is on the screen the lyrics are "passing by the edge of the cold winter" JK's lips look freaking freezing (kind of purple) and his hair is this darkish orange maybe to represent the sun setting faster in the winter? So JK = winter THEN, the lyrics when it changes to jimin is "until the days of the spring // until the days of the flower blossoms" JM's hair is pink maybe to represent to spring flowers. So JM = spring (1/2)
Thank you keen eyed follower, you are so right in your observation, please let me expand on your viewpoint below! Enjoy:
Spring Day Seasons Theory 🌈
Jungkook is a symbol of the opposing worlds of idyllic childhood long gone and the darker time which came afterwards, hence the imagery of death and cold with the line: “Passing by the edge of the cold winter.”
The opposite of which is the eternal summer of youth represented in Omelas which in the teaser the Boys and especially Jimin leave, presumably in the hope of finding another summer in a better place. As we know from the book the future of where he goes is a completely ambiguous and unknown quantity, if his goal is really to search “until the days of spring, until the days of the flower blossoms.” this is an immeasurable fabled destination, therefore stopping any nature of a conclusion.
This idea unpacked is extremely haunting, it brings to mind a lovers promise to find his soulmate after death, especially because the cycle of the seasons never ends.
The flower blossoms could also relate directly to Owl Service, in which the woman is created from flowers for a man forbidden to touch a living woman, her punishment is to be winged as an owl forever, leading us to the imagery of Taehyung and the future concept of ‘Affair’.
The mingling of the inspirations and eras gives the impression that the story we are seeing isn’t chronological, each text converges, just like the seasons in the lyrics, one time period and context moves into another.
Therefore leaving us with two possible outcomes, either this is all set in a plotless world extremely similar to Omelas itself, or in the only other place such references can congeal into one vibrant, jumbled, imaginary sphere, the human mind.
