AMITY LEARNING ABOUT LUZ'S DEATH
I've seen some people in fandom complaining about how Amity didn't see Luz's death. Because let's be honest, we all wanted to see how she'd react. That's why I wanted to come up with my own story where Amity finds out about Luz's sacrifice.
If you guys are into angst and drama like me, then stick around! Because I think I have a good scenario coming up here :)
.
.
.
.
.
Eda, Raine, Lilith, Amity, Willow, Hunter and Gus are in the owl house. Eda, Raine and Lilith discussing about rebuilding the Isles while Amity, Willow, Hunter and Gus are talking.
Willow turns to Amity and asks her, "Hey Amity, have you seen Luz? She isn't around since yesterday"
Amity says, "She told me she and Camila went back to human realm to visit Vee. But she seemed a bit... tired. I think she is having trouble with sleeping"
Gus replies, "Well, after everything we've been through, who can blame her for having nightmares?"
Amity gives him a sad look, "Yeah, but I feel like there's something more than just a bad dream..."
Hunter asks, "Like what?"
.
.
.
King enters the room, visibly worried, and walks towards Eda.
When Eda sees him, she kneels to get closer to his height and asks, "How is she doing now?"
King replies, "Not good... It's been 3 days and she still hasn't slept. Her mom and Vee said she wasn't eating anything either"
Amity, Willow, Hunter and Gus look at each other with worried expressions.
And Lilith asks, "We did defeat Belos and saved the Isles. I don't understand why she's still so stressed"
Eda and King share a sad look. And King speaks with a lower voice, "We need to tell them the whole thing, Eda. They should know what happened to Luz"
Amity walks towards them with a visible concern on her face, "What do you mean we should know what happened to Luz? What's going on? Is she okay? What is it that you didn't tell us?"
Eda sighs, "Okay, okay... We didn't tell you because we didn't want you kids to get worried. Just don't freak out..."
.
.
.
"WHAT?!?!", Amity yells after hearing the whole story. "LUZ DIED?!?!" She asks in anger with her eyes full of tears.
Eda and King look at each other.
Lilith holds onto Hooty with shock on her face. Raine also looks sad and shocked.
Willow covers her mouth in terror and tears up, Hunter and Gus both look scared and worried.
Amity's tears already reached her chin while she holds her hand on her heart.
"Luz died... And you didn't tell us... She didn't tell us... She didn't tell me..." This realization somehow hurt Amity even more.
But Eda sees it, "Not because she wanted to hide it from you. It's just... she's still trying to get over it"
Amity understands Eda's point. But she still needed to talk to Luz.
.
.
.
In the night, Luz returns to the owl house. Her hair is all messy, has dark circles around her eyes due to sleep deprivation, her face looks considerably thinner...
When she enters her room, she sees Amity waiting for her sitting in the bed.
"Oh, hola batata! I didn't know you were here" She greets her girlfriend in a joyful tone, trying to look less tired. But Amity doesn't return to her joy.
Luz thinks she must be looking miserable right now and that's why Amity is staring at her.
"Sorry, I know it's not my best mood right now!", Luz says smiling as she desperately tries to get a reaction from Amity.
But Amity still doesn't reply and keeps staring at her.
Luz starts to feeling even more uneasy now for not getting a reaction from her angry girlfriend. "Amity, is everything alright? Your eyes are all red. Did you cry?", Luz asks with a certain concern in her voice.
"Why didn't you tell me?", Amity asks.
Luz looks at her curiously, "Tell you what?"
"That you died, Luz..." Amity tears up again. "I was wondering why you looked so tired and nervous lately, but I didn't want to bother you even more, so I thought it was because the whole thing we've been through."
Luz stands there, not sure what to say. "Well, I didn't want you to get worried" she replies as she avoids eye contact with Amity. "A-and besides, I didn't actually die!" she says as she tries to sound more cheerful. "I just technically got erased from reality and ended up getting stuck between realms... But only temporarily before I met the Titan and-"
Amity interrupts her angrily, "LUZ!.."
They stand there in quiet for a moment.
Amity breaks the silence. "The lights that passed me by in Collector's Archive House... those were-"
"My soul", Luz finishes the sentence for her with a tired smile.
But Amity seems even more terrified after hearing this.
Luz holds her hands in order to comfort her girlfriend. "Look, I didn't mean to hide it, Amity. I didn't really want you to be worried about me. And also because..." Luz lets go off her hands and walks away from Amity.
"I... I don't think I was ready to talk about it. I can't even sleep without having horrible visions of Belos. And even when I wake up, I still get panic attacks like, I can't help but my body feeling numb a-and like I'm ripped apart-" Luz tears up and starts to panic again.
This time, Amity holds her into her arms to calm her down. She puts her hand on Luz's head and caresses her hair. Luz is still trembling, but her erratic breathing stops as she hugs Amity back.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I didn't mean to hide it, I swear", Luz says as she still tries to catch her breath while crying.
"It's okay Luz. I didn't mean to remind you of that... I was just... so terrified when I heard about what happened to you. It was like having a dagger in my heart. I wasn't even there to protect you...", Amity replies as she holds her even more tightly.
Luz buries her face into Amity's shoulder and smells her hair. And they stand there like this for a while.
When they finally separate, they look at each other with teary eyes. Amity holds Luz's face and kisses on her forehead.
Luz giggles while Amity buries her face into Luz's chest.
Luz smiles and asks, "Are you trying to hear my pulse?"
"I just love feeling your heartbeat", Amity replies. She raises her head to look at Luz. "So you haven't slept for days?"
Luz didn't really need to answer though. The dark circles under her eyes were an enough proof of her sleep deprivation.
Amity pulled her to the bed and lied next to her girlfriend.
Luz slightly blushed by this move. "Amity... You don't have to do this for me"
"Of course I have to do this Luz! After hearing about your near death, you think I can sleep peacefully unless I feel you in my arms?" Amity said.
Luz smiles.
"We both need to rest, okay batata? You're safe now, I'm here for you, we have each other. So let's just sleep", says Amity before closing her eyes.
Luz closes her eyes and lets Amity hug her tightly as she also puts her arms around Amity's waist.
"Goodnight, mi amor", she says while listening to her heart beating softly.
"Goodnight, my love", Amity says as she falls asleep, knowing her girlfriend is with her and safe now.
And Luz also falls asleep for the first time without having a nightmare after 3 long days...
THE END
So, what do you guys think? That was the first story that I've written and I wasn't sure how to put it into words. But I did my best. Hope you all liked it!❤

Okay, I'm committing to my interpretation of the puppet thing.
I'm going with the idea that the puppets were only conscious when being used in games and when activated by strong emotions.
First is this from For the Future:
Lilith: Hootsifer! Is he okay? Can he hear me? HOOTSIFER! CAN YOU HEAR ME? Hooty: Sequestered at a darkness like unto death, the dulcet tones of an angel wakes me. Be it you?? LULU??!!
Lilith was puppeted on the Day of Unity, so she should know how conscious Hooty might have been. This exchange suggests that it wasn't just an unending And I Must Scream paralysis nightmare the entire time, which is good for Darius (and everyone else ig). It's also notable that Hooty seems to have woken up specifically in response to hearing Lilith's voice here.
In Watching and Dreaming, the kids seem to regain control to stop themselves from attacking Luz.
Tumblr media
They remember being collected and they're aware that this is a nightmare game that the Collector is playing with Luz.
Amity: We've all been collected, including Camila. The Collector came from the sky, and- Gus: He's playing games with you, Luz. He's trying to keep you away from King and Eda! Willow: But if you want to save anyone, you have to wake up!
This nightmare sequence was highly emotional, so they were probably conscious during all of it. Which is a trauma haha oh no.
Amity activates her light glyph shortly after this, so they were conscious to some degree in the immediate aftermath of the nightmare. But it still does take them a moment to orient themselves:
Amity: [rubbing her left eye] Miss Lilith? [Gus, Willow, and Hunter all awaken. Gus looks at more Collected figures and screams in terror.] Gus: Where the heck are we? Willow: These must be the Archives.
This suggests that they weren't fully aware of their surroundings while like this:
Tumblr media
After this, Camila cries in puppet form when Luz dies. This seems to be more of a "mothers always know" trope; even if Camila was fully conscious during this, she'd have no way of knowing that Luz just died from her perspective in the Archives. When Camila is unpuppeted, she asks where Luz is and is worried but not actively grieving.
So I'm taking all of this to mean full consciousness during games and varying degrees of consciousness tied to emotion outside of games.
Which works for me when considering Darius' POV. If I'm taking the reunion scene literally, then the way Darius reacts suggests that he isn't seeing Hunter's new scars (and new everything else) for the first time.
This works if you interpret the Archive scenes as meaning that hearing Hunter's voice for the first time in months was enough of an emotional stimulus to wake Darius up:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(btw my eyes did in fact lock on to background Darius immediately during these scenes. Hunter just turn around and look up a little he's right there omg)

Other things I liked about the TOH finale:
that scene with the coven scouts taking off their masks... gold. chefs kiss.
Harpy Lilith??? yes please. I am in awe.
Lilith + Hooty reunion is ADORABLE! Little noodle ball of happiness.
short haired willow??? short haired willow!!!
"NOW EAT THIS SUCKA!"
Titan!Luz's design is a YES. Can she keep the aesthetic if not the powers throughout the rest of the finale? Hell, can we retcon this so that she looks like that through the entire show??? I like horns, okay?
All of the callbacks to past episodessssss
The fact that King, the one who knows the collector the best, was the one to refer to them as a they. It wasn't a "I have not met this supernatural child before and don't want to assume pronouns" they, it was a singular they. We have a canon he/they! In text! No word of god.
Raine!!! fighting off Belos!!! You are so OP Raine and I love you for it
Raine with facial scars??????? yes
Hunter carving palismans and working with Dell!
Short, blue haired Lilith in Eda's nightmare
I unironically loved Belos's final design and his essence invading the isles. It looked so fucking cool.
The titan was with us the whole time. (the one thing I want to see now is Titan!Luz and king playing catch. I'd kill for art of this concept.)

🔪🩸A Demon in Gravesfield🩸🔪
(WARNING!!!: This AU concept will contain graphic content, violent content, abuse, drug use, alcohol use, addiction, and other angst and mature based material. Viewer discretion is advised! Seriously, this is an R Rated AU concept!!!)
Tumblr media
[Plot]
• We all know that Canon!Luz is a Eccentric and geeky person who loves fantasy and adventure, but what if she wasn't exactly the person people thought she was, what if she completely snapped due to all the bullying and abuse she went through when she was younger and became a sadistic and blood thirsty psychopath.
[Inspiration]
• Victor Zsasz from DC Comics.
• Slashers & Serial Killers from different movies, shows, and franchises.
[AU info]
• Everyone is human, including King.
• Takes place in Gravesfield which has a high crime rate due to gang violence, addicts, serial killers, etc. Also Gravesfield is a lot more larger than it's canon counterpart.
• There are a total of four gangs within Gravesfield; The Fallen Angels MC (Bikers), The Alley Cats (Punks), The Aryan Sons (White Supremacists), The Innocentz (Satanists).
• Before Luz, there were other serial killers that terrorized Gravesfield in the past.
• Camila was an abusive parent even before Manny passed away and was very discriminative twords Luz "For not being normal". So due to this Luz was with her dad most of her life.
• Luz was around ten years old when she got adopted and achieved her first kill.
• King has been adopted by Eda and Raine ever since he was a baby. They found him abandoned in a cardboard box within an empty alley.
• Eda has heterochromia, a prosthetic arm, and Epilepsy in which she calls her "Curse". Oh, and also a bit of PTSD.
• Eda owns a pawn shop called "The Owl's Nest" and Raine is a music teacher at Gravesfield High.
• Lilith works for the Gravesfield Police Department as a detective.
• Lilith adopted both Vee and Hunter when they were around five and six years old. She adopted Hunter after a case regarding child abuse and then Vee after busting a Child Abduction & Slavery operation.
• Hooty and Owlbert are Eda's pet Owls.
• Stringbean is Luz's pet garter snake that Eda and Raine got for her 12th Birthday.
• Palisman are ordinary animals.
• Collie *The Collector* is born with vitiligo and has ADHD, he's been friends with King since preschool.
• Masha lives a very poor and dysfunctional life with their abusive mom and dad in a rundown trailer park, and whenever it got out of control they would sneak out of the house and stay with their friends for a bit.
• Alador and Odalia were both abusive parents to the point where they would badly injure and torture their own kids.
• Amity, Emira, and Edric got adopted by Darius Deamonne at a young age after the police found out about the abuse and torment they went through.
• Boscha, along with Skara, Amelia, Kevin (The oracle kid from "Once Upon a Swap"), Cat, Bria, Andrew (Angmar), Gavin, and Piper (The blonde cheerleader) are some of the many bullies at Gravesfield High.
• Bria was dating Boscha before she got killed.
• Belos and Philip Wittebane are not the same person, though he's still evil to where he's the main leader of The Aryan Sons.
•Belos' real name is Bruno Steiner.
• The Six Coven Heads are either your average criminals, gang leaders, or just lowlives.
• Philip Wittebane is not immortal and died back in the 1600s, but he's still the puritan, false christian fanatic though and due to this the statue of the Wittebane Brothers only has Caleb's statue while Philip's is completely defaced and vandalized.
[Luz's Appearance]
• Ragged Hair, Tally Mark Scars covering her body, and a scar on her left eyebrow in which she calls her "First Mark".
[Luz's Weapon]
• A Hunting Knife and a baseball bat, though she prefers to be creative with her kills.
[Luz's Skills & Abilities]

Abomination Jail (part 1)
"It's over." Amity laughed as she whispered to Luz.
This was the first time Luz had been the one who was lifted into the air. Luz always got there first, picking Amity up and twirling her. It was a little odd that Luz didn't get their first again, but Amity didn't have much time to think about it before Luz had been taken by Camilla.
Clearly that's where Luz got her habit of twirling Amity from. Camilla made it look easy to pick up Luz.
It was obvious that Eda was unsure of the kind of welcoming she would get from Camilla as she and King held their hands out to greet the woman. It was a fair worry. While they had taken Luz in, cared for her, and protected her while she lived in the Boiling Isles, but they could hardly be called good influences.
"It's crazy to think Luz died, right?" King's voice was loud as silence fell over the room, Luz disappearing from Camilla's arms.
"What?" Camilla asked, blinking rapidly.
"Uh, I probably shouldn't have said anything." King noticed the sudden tenseness in the room.
"Luz Noceda." Camilla turned to the teen who was trying to sneak her way outside.
"Luz, what the hell!?" Amity yelled.
"Oh, uh, hi Mama, Amity... Sweet potato? Batata?" Luz jumped as she was caught taking a step back with each failed attempt to get the two women to calm down.
Seeing that it wasn't working, Luz let out a small, awkward laugh, before running for the door, having to stop when Collector blocked it, hands behind their back.
"What's... Going on?" Collector asked as Luz was enclosed in an abomination shaped like a cage.
The cage had a thick base and legs, which were used to walk the caged Luz back to Camilla and Amity. Inside the cage Luz was sat on an armchair that looked very soft, both the chair and floor sinking a little under her.
"Luz is in trouble because she died." Lilith didn't necessarily agree with placing Luz in abomination jail, but if that was the way to stop her from running away from the conversation then that's what it took.
"Is that something you usually get in trouble for?" Collector walked over to Lilith and giving her Hooty, who had decided to grow eyelashes during his time as a doll.
"It is when you promised to be safe." Camilla looked down at Luz sternly.
"And when you don't even say anything." Amity added, her own glare angry.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to die, but we were explaining the importance of kindness and forgiveness, so he was trying to befriend Belos after he had started taking over the Titan. Then I met King's dad and he brought me back with his power." Luz got off the arm chair and knelt at the edge in front of her mother and awesome girlfriend.
"She did look great as a part Titan." Eda nodded, titan Luz was reminiscent of her own harpy form.
"You were part titan!?" Camilla and Amity demanded of Luz in unison.
"Are you okay? Are there permanent side effects? Are there any non-permanent side effects? Are you in any pain? Is this going to affect anything?" Camilla showered Luz with questions.
"I... Don't know?" Luz shrugged. "If I didn't accept the powers then I wouldn't have been able to defeat Belos and we'd all be dead."
"Sit. Down." Camilla was not someone to be tried when she used that tone.
Luz quietly sat back down in the armchair.
"What did you even look like in Titan form?" Amity crossed her arms, though it was obvious that she was trying to hide her excitement.
"Oh!" Collector raised his hand excitedly. "I can show you! I can make the photos like Luz had of her adventures before!"
With a click of their fingers the Collector was holding many different pictures of Luz in her titan form. Unlike the pictures Luz had, these were 3d models in the 2d picture, allowing the person looking at it to see many different angles.
Amity's face went very pink as she saw the picture, quickly stashing it away to keep forever. How had she managed to get the Luz as a girlfriend?
"Can I see?" Luz asked meekly from inside the cage.
"No, take it as an extra punishment." Camilla said, also putting it away. It was a very good quality, and she knew Luz should eventually see it.
"Aren't we not supposed to force people to do things?" Collector leaned in to Luz, somehow in the cage with her.
"Yeah, but Mama can tell me what to do because she's my mother. Amity can tell me what to do a little because she's my girlfriend." Luz yawned, dying then removing an overly old white guy from the heart of the Titan was tiring.
"So parents don't have to show kindness and forgiveness?" Collector was trying to understand. "And girlfriends need to only sometimes?"
"No, but they're not going to keep me here for long enough to be harmful, and Mama has a duty to look after me, which means she makes some decisions for me." Luz rubbed between her eyes, she was really tired.
"Why is Luz in abomination jail?" Willow peered in to the Owl House, Eda having backed off from the situation with Luz to lie back down with Raine.
"Because she died." Amity was looking angrily at Luz as the Collector left the cage.
"Luz is dead!?" Gus pushed between Willow and Hunter to get in, stopping when he saw Luz in the cage.
"Nope, I am alive. Belos killed me, but King's dad gave me his power and I came back. Almost actually died twice before I came back though." Luz tried to reassure her friends.
"Hold up, kid." Eda got up again, hand on her hip as she too looked down at the teen. "I didn't know about that."
"I don't really understand what happened, just that it did. Look, I'm really tired, can we do this tomorrow?" Luz shook her head.
It was the portal realm that she was in, she was sure of it, she had seen King's dad when they were coming back to the Boiling Isles, and the same floating cubes she used to save Vee and talk to her mum were there. If she was asked to explain how that realm worked, why sometimes she sank and other times there was something solid to stand on she really wouldn't be able to.
"Alright, who's mine? Luz, Hunter, with me." Camilla called for Hunter to come, Luz obviously very limited in her ability to control where she went.
"Do we have a way home?" Luz was the one who had destroyed the original portal, the one they used to go home was falling apart when they used it, and the one they used to get to the Boiling Isles this time was closed.
"I'll make you one!" The Collector gleefully announced, Hunter walking over to Luz. He didn't look great.
"Please don't die." Hunter honestly sounded weak as he asked. "I already lost Flapjack, I don't want to lose you too."
"Hey," Luz grinned, reaching a hand out to take his. "I'm not planning on going anywhere, you're stuck with me."
"We'll be holding you to that." Gus grinned at her.
"When are you planning to let her out?" Willow nudged Amity with her shoulder, pointing to the cage.
"I'll change it tomorrow, but she'll stay in there and let us do everything until she has to go back to class. She died, she's not going to get hurt again any time soon." Amity looked away from Luz, blinking rather intensely.
"She's your girlfriend, you're allowed to cry." Willow moved a little closer. "But you are going to have to let her out alone eventually."
"She died Willow! Let me protect her, at least for a month." Amity furiously wiped away her tears.
"As long as Luz is okay with your protection." Willow walked back over to Hunter.
"Hunter, you lot are exhausted and, respectfully, you look like shit. We're going home, and you're going to sleep." Darius walked into the Owl House like he owned the place. It was obvious he had spent the whole time as a doll as his cloak was still perfect, not having been involved in any battle.
"Who are you?" Camilla looked the witch up and down.
"Camilla, this is Darius. He is, uh, was the head of the abomination coven. Camilla is Luz's mother, we stayed with her in the human realm." Hunter introduced the two with a shaky smile.
"That's nice," Camilla didn't seem to care who Darius was. "Come along Hunter, we're going home. Amity, do you want to come?"
"I'll just drop off Luz, I haven't seen dad, Ed, or Em much." Amity brushed under her eyes as she smiled at Camilla.
"Why would Hunter come with you?" Darius put a hand on Hunter's shoulders.
"Because he's my child now." Camilla pulled Hunter towards her.
"And who decided that?" Darius pulled Hunter back towards him.
"How about we don't play tug of war with Hunter?" Luz called from the cage, Willow gently pulling Hunter out of the grip of the two adults.
"Tell me," Camilla scoffed, "has Hunter ever even been to your house?"
"We all live in the Emperor's castle, so-"
"Oh, you mean the place that's been completely destroyed? Even more reason for him not to stay with you." Camilla grabbed the handle of Collector's door.
"So why aren't you offering your house for anyone else?" Darius asked.
"The others are welcome to come, but they miss their families. Hunter is our family." Camilla opened the door to reveal the inside of the house the teens hung out in while in the human realm.

Season 3 episode 2 reaction babyyyy!! Part 1 (i hope of 2)
I will just go straight into this, AH
NO ARE WE STARTING WITH THIS SCENE!? FUCK YOU, I CAN'T HOLD BACK TEARS FROM KING'S FINAL WORDS ANYMORE
Lilith using hooty as a form of jetpack is making me laugh, I am sorry. BUT LILITH I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE OKAY, I love you dearly YOU TOO HOOTY. God what a way to start the episode. I assume it will be the counter pov to the Human Realm. So I think it will be Eda, King, Collector, Lilith and Hooty pov? OO that's fun! And it will have ep3 as the final, both sides reunited?
HOOTY NO! LILITH! COLLECTOR KIDDO, NOT COOL, DON'T DO THAT, GODDDDDD WHERE DID YOU PUT THEM!?
RAINE IS ALIVE! Hallelujah! I was getting worried they would die because they used their last bit of energy saving Eda, BUT EDA AND RAINE LIVE ON!
HARPY EDA IS BACK LADIES, GENTLEMEN AND OTHER GUESTS! SHE IS BACK AND RAINE IS SMITTEN!
God no, the curse, shit, well nobody thinks to plan emergency potions when the world IS LITERALLY BEING RIPPED APART, fair enough
Oh woah, Luz is in this episode, huh, well that's funky! Well there goes my idea, but damn, I am excited. MAYBE TIME WORKS DIFFERENTLY IN DIFFERENT REALMS, oo
"This Mama is hungry for vengeance!" "Now THAT is a fight I'd watch" took the words out of my mouth Gus, HELL YEAH, GO KICK BELOS' BUTT CAMILA
.....Okay, LISTEN, "The collector is evil blah blah" YEAH, well, maybe not, BUT THEY HAVE DONE BAD ACTIONS... However this version of bonesborough looks cool! Well, not cool, maybe nostalgic? Reminds me of children's lullabies, SO I LIKE IT!
Turning people into dolls tho, that's bad
Belos! Always lovely to see your.... slimey, gross, figure! But lets not kill innocent butterflies, alright pal? And damn, you get hallucinations of your brother? Also this feels like common sense BUT DON'T CLONE YOUR BROTHER WHO YOU MIGHT HAVE KILLED?! LIKE THAT DAGGER LOOKS VERY LIKE YOU KILLED HIM WITH IT PHILIP!
My guy starts melting and says "I need a new body", like just deal with it, humans only get 1 body, stop getting several! Leave some for the rest of us. damn.
Camila, Gus and Willow just having a conversation trying to find the best way to support Luz awakened something inside of me, especially the "He wasn't disappointed in me, but I didn't want to fail him" LIKE DAMN, WHO IS SPYING ON MY LIFE TO MAKE THIS TOO DAMN RELATABLE
"Don't worry about me, like Gus said, I'm the reliable one" 1) AGAIN, WHO IS SPYING ON ME and 2) I have heard that one before Willow AND I KNOW YOU ARE 1 MORE "Are you okay?" AWAY FROM SOBBING, its okay Willow bestie, you can cry too
I hope we find out what Luz's Palisman hatches too soon, I am wayyyyyyyy too impatient for this, I AM DESPERATE
THEY GOT MATCHING JUMPERS AND HOOTY GOT A MATCHING BOWTIE?! FUCKKKKKK, nobody touch me, I am sensitive right now, GOD this found family is so important to me!!
"I will find Eda and King, no matter how long it takes" "ITS EDA AND KING" fucking hell Hunter way to ruin the adventure (/j) (Yes I did start laughing when Hunter said that)
..........Okay, erm. Well. Collector. I see what you have done. And, I question your methods! As this feels like, idk, maybe a tad illegal and morally wrong? Idk though might be wrong, but turning people into dolls is erm.. less quirky and more, wrong.
......................Okay. Right. I DON'T THINK MASS CONTROLLING EVERYONE TO PLAY PRETEND WHILST YOU BE A HERO IS VERY MORALLY GOOD EITHER! Listen, I get the urge to play hero and so and so, I did that as a kid! WITH DOLLS! WHO WERE ALWAYS, DOLLS! NOT HUMANS! God, you truly are a kid, you would be like, 5 in the human realm. WHERE IS YOUR MUM!?! DAD?! PARENTS?!
Fucking Plant Lady Coven head having to play Eda and (seems to be) the only one not controlled by the Collector and not be a doll, is fucking hilarious, 10/10
"Eda has a more, cool-aunt vibe, who pretends to be all cold-hearted but actually cares a lot" SEE, THANK YOU COLLECTOR, THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING SINCE DAY 1
Oh! Well. Most directors when they don't like the actors just fire them, but you do you Collector!
CAMILA ALSO JUST LOOKING AT KING AND LOVING HIM IS SO REAL, I adore him too Camila, don't you worry
WOAH ALL THE STUDENTS ARE OKAY?! Damn. That's one good school. Well, apart from the 2 that didn't. And all the staff went. BUT STILL, poor kids though. THEY ARE JUST KIDS. Also damn, we start to like Bump and that poor guy hasn't had a break since
...I don't even want to talk about that "man-tholomule" joke
THE BUMP STATUE IS THE GREATEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN, 10/10 Bump and Eda would approve, "Princy Bump"
ED MY PAL, WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU, "not empty! There were rocks at the bottom!" God I missed you Ed
Talk about being haunted by your past, damn Belos, you've killed a lot of people bro, oh and "Oh shut up!" IS NOT A GOOD RESPONCE TO SEEING THE GHOSTS OF WHO YOU HAVE KILLED. it is funny tho.
AMITY'S MUM!? WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE. God, you really have 0 morals huh. YOU ARE ACTING AS THE COLLECTOR'S MUM!?! Listen I know your kids hate you BUT YOU DIDN'T NEED TO REPLACE THEM WITH A BEING WHO IS TRYING TO DESTROY ALL WITCHES IN A WEIRD WAY!
"Clean the planet and scorch the air" Well that might be useful later!
I will ignore ALL of the corruption happening at Hexside right now BUT HOOTY! AND RAINE! AND EDA! AND DARIUS! AND- Yeah I'll stop now BUT YEAH
EDA THANK GOD YOU AREN'T A WEIRD DOLL, and sweetie, I get wanting to visit your partner BUT YOU'VE GOTTA STAY SAFE! All the coven heads (except plant lady) Being weird security now? Kinda cool! Confusing, but cool!
WOAH LILITH! WHAT HAPPENED TO BEING A DOLL?!... And no longer being ginger, and having long hair? I am very confused BUT HAPPY YOU AREN'T A DOLL!
....Okay I know they are probably comedic relief BUT LILITH AND HOOTY'S FRIENDSHIP IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO ME OKAY!
"With her real family" HUSH EDA, YOU ARE APART OF THAT REAL FAMILY
"You are actually a great leader" "Did you have ever have any doubt in your mind?" "Yes. Many many doubts" fucking mood Gus, you always get the greatest lines. I am stealing this
WOAH BELOS MY PAL, I get that your "grow your own clone" guy wasn't ready yet, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU STEAL RAINE'S BODY YOU PRICK
.....Don't say that about Flapjack HE IS STILL ALIVE, HE WILL MAKE IT.... RIGHT?!
I knew you were 1 step away from a breakdown Willow, I have been on that path don't you worry
AND I JUST REALISED I WENT OVER HALF THE EPISODE AND THIS IS A REALLY LONG POST SO, part 2 in like, half an hour

Meanwhile on luz’s and king’s end theyre playing “owl house”
And given how we’ve seen the collector is something tells me that’s going to be like a very messed up game of house with actual living people as the dolls
GENIUNELY wouldn't it be so messed up for the gang to return to the Isles and practically everyone is playing a game of house. like. y'all know those specific types of episodes where everything feels a bit too perfect and sitcom-y? usually after a character wished for everything to be normal/go right for once? thats what its like. its horrible.
anyone who ISN'T playing house is in 'hiding.' Basically meaning that King and Luz either convinced the Collector they weren't important to the story or someone that the Collector doesn't need right now so he lets them run around until he yoinks them for a few days of playing. while the Collector is certainly god-like, they aren't omnipotent, as we can clearly see. meaning it WOULD leave room for other people to be running around in hiding or try and come up with a plan.
Eda, being the master trickster she is and also Mom Of The Year, manages to evade most playtime. The kids were SUPER on top of insisting she wasn't important to the game despite how much they wanted her to be there. also, Eda lost a whole ARM. even if the way it was removed basically cut off any option of bleeding out, it's still a LOST APPENDAGE. she's off in hiding for most of the time. and with Raine. who is...not doing too hot. they and most of the other coven heads are extremely weak or in a coma-like state for the time being until their bodies heal up. Luz somehow spun it that they're fun characters who get 'unlocked' later on in the game.
currently, most of the Owl House residents are running around pretending to be all sitcom like and play happy family when out in public, but lose their shit behind closed doors. Hooty has been assigned as Main Plaything for the Collector since he can handle it and is also crazy enough to actually have fun sometimes, much to Lilith's distress, who is notably more involved with playtime than Eda is, since Hooty slipped up one time and mentioned she was his best friend. the most frequent people in the games are the ones who get caught, meaning a decent amount of them are kiddos. King and Luz try their best to help them out, but Boy is it a lot of pressure.
anyway. point is that Eda has a whole secret underground base for the fellow rebels and also people to hide out in and escape playtime for a bit, but it took a bit of herding and yelling at people that if they All hide, then they'll All be caught, so Go The Fuck Back Out There. the main base area is where everyone is stashing the coven heads (even if a lot of them were assholes) and very young and old people stay there most of the time, since playtime with the Collector can get very hectic and easily violent. Eda is, obviously, trying her best to snatch her kids back, and is one second away from going feral and mauling the Collector. literally everyone is trying to hold her back, but the resolve slackens by the day. will she win? no, but they dont have a better plan! also they wanna see if she'll manage to get in a good hit. not to condone violence against children, but-
Really, the important part here is that in the middle of the base there's this giant whiteboard that takes up like an entire wall and a bunch of sharpies, with giant bold letters in the middle saying HOW TO KILL GOD??? and not one suggestion has lasted more than a day. help them

The Owl House, Season 3, Episode 2, "For the Future," First Impressions!
youtube
I knew this was gonna be big.
I knew this was gonna be emotional.
I did not know it was going to hit me like it did, or for the reason that it did.
I wasn't expecting this episode to speak to me personally the way it did, I really wasn't. I was gearing up to see what the Collector had done to the Boiling Isles; to be reunited with Eda, King, Lilith, Hooty, and the rest; to finally see Luz's palisman, to see what Belos was going to do, and all that other stuff that we've been speculating for months about.
Instead, this episode hit me in a way that I haven't experienced very often. It spoke to my own experiences.
I'll cover the lesser (but still very important) moment first, and surprisingly it came from Willow.
Now, I haven't talked much about Willow. She's fine! She's an important part of the cast! But let's face it: for character discussion, she just kept getting overshadowed by the absolute angst factories that are literally every single other main character. Even Gus had more going on in that department!
But like everyone else, it seems that I've been taking her for granted. It really does suck to be the reliable one, to be the one expected to carry the team, to be the one to set your own problems aside for the sake of other people. I've been there, many times. And honestly, like Willow, I'm kind of nearing a break down of my own. You really do start to feel like you don't matter, that your own hurt is unimportant, but if you don't take it on the chin and keep truckin', everything will fall apart and it'll be all your fault.
So yeah, I'm glad that they gave her that moment. Maybe it got tied up a little too neatly and could have stood to have been foreshadowed a little more in previous episodes, but then again, maybe that was the point.
The other moment should come as no surprise to anyone who knows me and has read my other comments on this show, and it serves as a MASSIVE emotional payoff to my one big gripe about The Owl House, one that I've had since the very first episode.
So, we all remember that camp Luz was being sent to, right? Remember all the fuss people kicked up over it, saying that it was basically conversion therapy and that Camilla was abusive for sending her there. It was a real point of contention for a while.
And I'll admit, I was one of those people. I'm neurodivergent myself. I'm autistic and have ADHD, and my parents tried a number of bullshit methods to make me "normal." It was all with the best of intentions, and none of them were as bad as sending me to conversion therapy, but it does mean it is something I'm pretty sensitive about. So when I saw that flyer, I just got the most uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach. Like, how could you do that to your child? And since that was literally the last thing we saw Camilla doing until Yesterday's Lie (aside from a couple quick Vee segments), that feeling stayed for a long time.
Obviously everything we learned changed my perception. Like I've said before, I think the writers realized their whoopsie and made sure to address that, and they did so in the best way possible: weave it into the storyline and use it for character development. Vee's friends showed that maybe the camp wasn't as bad as we feared, Luz really did have behavioral problems that needed addressing, and Camilla was a harried single mother still grieving her husband just trying to do what was best.
But we also learned more about Luz. She wasn't acting out just because she's a wacky kid with ADHD. Maybe that contributed, but she was acting out because she was also grieving. Her father was her bedrock, the guy that truly understood her and kept her grounded, and with him gone, she was desperate for some kind of validation. Her antics were a cry for help, which is why the Boiling Isles was so good for her.
Seeing those two finally sit down and talk about what happened really hit me where I live. They're both neurodivergent weirdoes that have tried to hide what they are to fit in and were deeply hurt by losing the one person that understood them, and in the process unintentionally hurt each other. I loved this. It reminded me of Entrapta's "Imperfections can be Beautiful" speech from She-Ra.
And as it so happens, that bit of honesty is what was needed to finally awaken Luz's palisman. Everyone? Meet Stringbean!
Tumblr media
I love the cheeky little references to everyone's speculations of what Luz's palisman might be. And as it turns out, everyone was kind of right! In keeping with the theme of Luz's palisman choosing what it wants to be, it's a snakeshifter! Oh, that is clever.
But also, snake people were also right. Personally I was thinking spider, but even so. We have our new baby!
Oh God, Luz has a staff. Everyone, fear her.
Speaking of palismans, Hunter is still grieving the loss of Flapjack and NOT doing okay, but I'm glad he got that catharsis of realizing that Flapjack is still literally a part of him. It's small solace, but it is something. And as a lot of people predicted, he now has the magic that he formerly could only use through technology. The poor boy, though. I'm glad he and Willow are starting to inch toward one another. They do seem right for each other.
Okay, time to talk about plot stuff!
The Hexside stuff was a ball. I did sort of call Boscha's minions being Kikimora, though it didn't click that her big robot was involved until a few moments before the reveal. And give it up for the best tribute to the best principal!
Tumblr media
I miss you, Principal Bump.
Also, credit for Mattholomule for stepping up! Gotta say, he's looking a lot like his big brother now, so much so that for a second I really thought that he was Steve!
I do hope Boscha gets some comeuppance. Not a whole lot, just some humble pie. Willow really owes her a smack. Still, I did crack a smile when Boscha desperately begged for Amity back. Amity was Queen Bee, and Boscha was her sycophantic minion, and can't do it without her, lol!
Now, the Collector!
I do feel sorry for this kid, despite the damage he's doing. I mean, the Collector is just a kid, one that was alone for a really, really long time, was betrayed several times, and doesn't fully understand what he's were doing. Doesn't excuse the pain he's caused (okay, the Terra thing was pretty funny, and we all love to see Odalia get humilated), but it is understandable, at least.
We also get some lore! Collectors literally collect living beings, which explains what that long one was doing to the owl beast, and why the Titan Trappers called our Collector the Great Hunter. But they are also predisposed to wipe out mortals that interfere with their affairs, which our Collector doesn't care for.
Huh, I wonder who sealed the Collector. Was it their natural enemies the Titans, or his own kind for not going along with their genocidal tendencies?
Speaking of villains, damn it Belos, why you gotta be so creepy? Does that mean all of his bodies are former Golden Guards and he possesses each one once they've been used up? No, wait, he still has the broken nose Lilith gave him. Regardless, possessing Raine will not end well for him. But you can't say he doesn't know how to manipulate the Collector, the poor kid.
Man, I know he was probably hallucinating those ghosts, but it would be really cool if they were real and drag him down to Hell or whatever.
Glad Eda and Lilith are doing okay, and that Hooty managed to at least regain some sanity. Seriously, the hell is he even? Also, I actually like that Lilith is going back to her old hair color.
What else, what else, what else?
Okay, where is Steve and the rest of the CATTs? I want my boy! And Katya! I will continue to uphold my fanfiction queen until the day I die!
Also, damn it, Edric! Stop hurting yourself!

What I Thought About "Edge of the World" from The Owl House
Salutations, random people on the internet who certainly won't read this. I am an Ordinary Schmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons.
Do you want to know what impresses me the most about this season of The Owl House? Well, you see, I've probably mentioned this before, but I love how the writers introduced and juggled so many plotlines and stories in Season Two. Every episode, so far, has continued one thread or the other. Like Luz and Amity's relationship, Hunter's reformation, the Day of Unity, Raine's rebellion, Luz going home, and a couple more. What's even more impressive is how the writers know what stories they could combine in an episode and what to shelve for the time being.
Take King's story, for example. "Echoes of the Past" introduced this thread about King's life, bringing up a mystery of where he came from and what he is. "Keeping Up A-Fear-Ances" and "Eda's Requiem" then continued the thread through B-plots so others could take the forefront, and "Knock, Knock, Knocking on Hooty's Door" furthered the story while also shelving it by having Hooty EAT the thing that would keep things moving forward. And because we had to wait until Hooty...passed the letter, it gave a reasonable explanation for why King didn't continue his efforts in finding his family. Especially since he wasn't in the mood anymore during "Knock, Knock, Knocking on Hooty's Door."
But now? Lumity is canon, Hunter is traumatized and probably doesn't want to do anything, the Day of Unity is still a while away, Raine's rebellion needs some more building, and Luz probably lost her one chance to go home. In other words, these plot threads are currently shelved, so let's finally bring back King's with "Edge of the World!" Today, we finally learn more about King's life and heritage and will undoubtedly get traumatized because of it! Because this is Season Two of The Owl House, and holy s**t, is it not pulling it's punches!
So, let's take our lumps together, shall we?
Spoilers below.
WHAT I LIKED
King’s Dream: I love that this episode starts the way it does. On top of being wholesome as all hell, it shows us King's greatest desire. King wants to see his family again, but he also wants them to get along with Eda, Luz, and even Hooty. It's cute, even if it IS a bit on the nose that this was a dream.
Not to mention that it prepares us for the darkness ahead.
Luz Saying What Happened: On the topic of darkness, something tells me that the scenes Luz flashbacked to have been in her nightmares for the past few days. Or however long it took between "Hollow Mind" and this.
But, yeah, this was a solid way to recap events from last week. Unless you've rewatched the previous six episodes on Disney+, this brings you back to the pain we went through in "Hollow Mind." And BOY is pain the right word to use given how fast Luz starts panicking. She indirectly helped a genocidal maniac, leading him to get closer to destroying everything and everyone that she loves. I'd be having a mental breakdown too, and kudos to Sarah-Nicole Robles for nailing the fear, heartbreak, and self-anger that Luz must be feeling at this moment. It's top notch and OOF, does it hurt.
Eda Wants Luz to Hide: Thankfully, we have Eda being the protective mom that she is. Her kid is tied with Hunter as someone likely to be number one on Belos' hit list, so the first thing Eda thinks of is hiding her precious baby in a place where NO ONE will find her. It's an admirable mindset, showing, yet again, how much Luz means to Eda. And I'm always going to love that wholesome relationship.
Hooty Barfs Because of Lilith: Almost as much as I love a well-timed joke.
Seriously, Hooty, you might want to get yourself checked out for something if seeing someone you love causes you to barf.
The Plan for Going to King’s “People” (And Eda’s Objections): It's incredible how a later scene could alter how we view a previous one. Because, at the time, I was siding with everyone else. We learned that there was an entire civilization of warriors, making it sound like the ideal place for King and Luz to hide out and be safe, but in turn, it makes it the perfect opportunity for the characters to gain an army. So, it sounded like a foolproof plan for King, Luz, and Hooty to go on this adventure by themselves...and then the rest of the episode happened.
Yeah, given what we know now, Eda has a right to be cautious about sending the kids there on a perilous journey. I mean, King was about to be sacrificed! Those people are lucky that Eda didn't come with Luz and King. She might have burned the place to the ground if she did.
Still, it impresses me how well context can change how I react to a scene. I didn't understand why Eda wouldn't be all for going to a land of warriors to protect her kids, but after watching the episode, I'll end up siding with her on future rewatches. Because, in hindsight, who wouldn’t side with a woman so worried about her kids?
Eda Cries for Luz: Because, I mean, like...seriously. You're telling me you wouldn't side with a woman that's this worried about her children? Get out of here!
Ok, but jokes aside, this is perfection. There are so many kids' shows that just gloss over that the protagonist that does all of this dangerous stuff is a literal child. Needless to say, I appreciate that The Owl House features a moment when Eda breaks down over the stress that her child is in a lot of deep s**t. It's the same reason I love Steven Universe Future, despite its flaws. It was the first time a kids' show acknowledged that the child protagonist will have so much trauma that will last them YEARS of therapy. And it's just beginning for Luz, which makes me appreciate Eda's worry for her even more. It's an honest reaction any rational parent would have, eradicating any doubt that Eda doesn't see herself as Luz's mom. If she didn't, why else would she be crying over this kid she's only known for a few months?
But I’m sure they’ll have time to figure things out. I mean, the Day of Unity is only in a week–WAIT, WHAT?!
The Day of Unity is in a WEEK?!: That is...a VERY stressful timetable.
The genocide of the entire Boiling Isles is coming, and the characters only have a WEEK to prepare?! A week that's already passing fast as we speak?! Dana Terrace, you and your writers are...sick monsters. I do NOT need this stress in my life, Ms. Terrace!
Oh, man, I need to put my mind on something else...
Hooty Ate the Letter a Month Ago: ...I can work with this.
Ok, so Hooty ate the letter a month ago. This happened at least a few days after Luz and Amity started dating. So, this means that a few days before "Edge of the World," Luz and Amity MUST have had their one-month anniversary, which undoubtedly had roses, chocolate, and cute, gay adorableness.
There. Whenever something bad happens in the show, I can just think of Luz and Amity's one-month anniversary. Problem solved.
I know it's stupid and silly...but I need this.
Tarak: Alright, back to the bad stuff.
Because man...I liked Tarak! He was a cool dude that was so excited to have King around and was Bill's hype man. Not to mention how much King enjoyed being with Tarak.
He saw him as his father, wanting to play catch and everything! And Tarak doesn't even hesitate in wanting to kill King after knowing what he is!
It's yet another instance where learning the context alters how I react to something. Because I remember feeling this spark of joy and happiness when I saw King so excited to have someone he saw as a father figure! Now all I'll feel is pain, knowing where it will all end!
Titan Trapper Island: It's the same thing here. I thought it was interesting that there was a community of people who hunted Titans. We know next to nothing about what Titans are, so it was safe to assume it was a good thing that there were hunters committing genocide on a species, to the point where we glossed over the fact that they committed genocide on a species (yeah, that was probably a red flag). But now, after learning what King is, it leaves this icky feeling in my tum-tum knowing he was practically a warthog dining with lions.
King Becoming a Titan Trapper Montage: Yeah, this doesn't help!
Seeing King get acceptance and respect from these individuals he thought was his kind was a nice heartwarming moment. Why does it have to be ruined now that I know where it's heading?!
Can we please have something to lighten the mood...?
Bill, the Grand Elder: ...Alright, I'll take it.
Don't get me wrong, this guy's a scumbag...but he's an entertaining scumbag.
Bill's psychotic old man nature is genuinely fun to watch, and it's pretty funny seeing this little gremlin boss around these noticeably bigger and fitter people. It's also interesting how he's not scared of Belos. I always find it intriguing how one villain doesn't consider the other a threat. Makes one wonder which one is actually worse.
I mean, it's Belos. It'll always BE Belos. But it's still fascinating how Bill thinks he's worse. And it makes sense why he's not worried. Their island is disconnected from the Boiling Isles, so if there's anyone who won't be hurt by the Day of Unity, it'll be them.
And there are...other reasons why they're not scared of Belos. But before we get into that, let's talk about the Titan in the room.
King’s a Son of a Titan: ...The winner for what is easily the biggest "What the F**K?!" moment goes to King being a Titan!
No, seriously, WHAT THE F**K?! Our baby boy's a Titan?!
Did...did anyone call this?! Hang on.
*Does a YouTube search*
Ok, f**k, apparently people called this! But it sounded like such a crackhead theory that I'm sure people who heard it just pointed and laughed! NOW, who's laughing?!
I'll tell you who: The sons of b**hes who somehow called this--HOW THE F**K DO YOU CALL THIS!?
Man, this show...
This! Show!
Every time that I think it gives us the biggest reveal, it throws King being a Titan at us. Not only that, but now he's surrounded by Titan hunters who will kill him if they find out.
Yeah, can we get him out of there, please? Before things get worse.
The Titan Trappers’ God is the Collector: THINGS GOT WORSE!
Oh...FRICK, did they get worse!
These guys might not be more of a threat than Belos is, but the reveal that they worship the Collector might prove the Collector is worse than Belos. Because if they managed to get a whole society to worship them as a god, then that does not spell nice things for our characters. After all, if you can turn an Owl Beast into a curse, you could possibly do just about anything. And...yeah, it's not great...And it somehow gets even WORSE!
The Ritual: Ok...Listen: King asking if they'll play catch after the ritual as a knife hangs over his head is...heart wrenching, to say the very least. It's a moment where King shows his age because the boy's just a child! He's just a child who wanted to play catch with a man he saw as a father, and NONE of them sympathize with that, nor do they look back at how he felt like a part of the community, and they treated him as one of their own. It shows how much blind hatred these people have towards King's species while showing how young King is for being naive to all of it. It hurts...and it STILL. Gets. WORSE!
King Preparing for a World Without Luz in it: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaah...
...
...Ok. I'm at my limit.
We already know that King doesn't want Luz to leave, but knowing that he's been preparing to live his life without her is just...WHY?! Why must you hurt me, Dana!
I just want my favorite characters to be happy! Is that so wrong to ask?!
King Waving Hi to the Titan: Well...at least King has a better understanding of himself.
His little wave to the Titan is like an...acceptance? Is that the right word? Because he acknowledges that he's one of it now. If it King didn't accept that, he would look away from the Titan in shame, but instead, he waves. It tells us that even if today has been...not great, he finally knows what he is, putting that story to rest. And I couldn't have asked the episode to end at a better--
The Emperor’s Coven at the Owl House, Ready to Strike: OH, COME ON! You could've closed the episode out on a semi-nice moment, but NOOOOOOO! You just HAD to end things on a scene that spells out doom and gloom for our characters!
THANKS A LOT, DANA AND FRIENDS! Your show is amazing, and I hate it!
(Joking, obviously)
WHAT I DISLIKED
Ok...I only have one issue...and that's the super-specific description of what a baby Titan is. I get that we want to clue the kids in on how King's a Titan, but using his personality traits to do it is kind of lame. It takes away what makes King unique if the entire species supposedly act as he does. We already have Bill saying they dress up like Titans. We don't need that extra step.
However, that's a very minor thing "Edge of the World" did wrong compared to everything else it did right.
IN CONCLUSION
"Edge of the World" is another A+ in my book. We learned so much about King, had some small development for Luz and Eda squeezed in, changed how I'll react to it in future rewatches, and kept the story chugging along at the perfect point. It's honestly perfect that "Edge of the World" came out when it did because with where the show's heading in the season finale, there wouldn't have been a better place to continue King's story than here. I look forward to what happens next, primarily because that ending just about left me on the edge of my seat.

I write about a character per day
Day 19: Lilith Clawthorne
I just have this special place for Lilith, since she's the aroace rep of the show, and I found out I'm aromantic in February.
I just think Lilith is neat.
I want what Lilith and Hooty have so much. Just me and my pet and no one else.
Lilith got a really interesting redemption, one that is not the same as Hunter or Amity in the sense that, her damage was irreversible. And even worse, it's on her own sister. She got her punishment for it as well, the negligence from her parents, and the betrayal from Belos. But no other character had such a drastic change in personality from S1 to S2 as much as Lilith, from the right hand of Belos to historian cool aunt and finally Isles' engineer.
Just imagine the dynamic Lilith and Eda could have had in their full power. Oh boy, Lilith is only slightly weaker than Eda, and in my opinion Eda in Season 1 is probably the strongest witch of the show, covenheads included, not just in power, but also in strategy. One combination that had never happened because of the curse, but that's okay because we got two cool harpy witches. (Oh we also got robbed of that because the show got cancelled prematurely? Hmm, oh well)
I really think Lilith wasn't completely ill-intended even from her first appearance. After all, she believed what she's doing was for the good of her sister. Even when Luz trying to uncurse Eda like Lilith wanted in the first place, Lilith still believe not doing so is better. She was duped by Belos so hard, and I don't blame her for that, Belos is an excellent manipulator. Belos got that close into erasing Lilith's one of her first ever purposes when joining the Emperor's Coven, which is to heal her sister. But once Lilith recognized it entirely, it's time for redemption. A redemption that came entirely from her. A moment of confession later and she's flying away with her owl sister.
Regardless, the countless attempts to redeem herself for Eda was recognizable. She was in the sense that she had to do something for Eda to redeem herself for decades of pain Eda's been through, even sharing the curse of Eda to her. Eda helped her get used to the new life, powerless and cursed, but not useless. Eda being incredibly generous to her sister helped Lilith not feeling too guilty and adapting her new life so smoothly.
Lilith studied quite a lot in her sister's house. She got a cool niece who taught her things, went to adventures, and got to punch her old boss (that she didn't acknowledge of), and honestly I'd love to see more of Luz and Lilith, they got a long pretty well. King is fine with Lilith even before the petrification, and that scene when King and Lilith speaking about the absence of parental care was quite depressing. And speaking of that...
Lilith was an indirect victim of parental negligence. It is hard for Gwen and Dell to look after her as much as Eda for obvious reason, for a reason that Lilith committed to even. But only by living in Eda's house did Lilith saw her mom for the first time in years. It is painful that even then she was still pushed away by Gwen because Gwen still prioritize curing Eda's curse more. I don't think it's fault for anyone, and it genuinely is nice that Lilith went home with her mom, to rebuild the broken, and to know that her parents still love her after all those years, even if she told them the secret about the curse.
But by far the biggest gift in Eda's house is Hooty. And by god these two are so precious. Hooty being Hooty and handling Lilith on his own, single-handedly squashed the entire army in the morning, but in the afternoon being the eyewitness of the greatest redemption he has ever seen. Lilith wasn't too fond of him, but one mission later and a few fire bee stings on Hooty helped them bond together. The scream when Lilith saw puppet Hooty was so touching I don't know how to describe it. They loved being around each other (platonically), protected each other, inspired each other, and genuinely so awesome.
Why is there only 2 episodes of Lilith and Amity together? (And other mysteries of the Isles that wouldn't be explained because of that reason) One of them was before their redemption arc, and the other was in the last montage. The teacher-student dynamic is quite strong for this one, and I would love to see more of them.
Lilith is so special to me. She's aroace. She's a nerd. She punched Philip. Historian. Engineer. Cool aunt. She had it all. I'll miss her so much.

Look at poor Raine, trying so hard to play a bad guy so the other bad guys don’t catch on and failing miserably at it. Look at them. Not an evil bone in their body. Then again, I suppose they’re the head of the Bard Coven, not the Acting Coven.
Eda pointing out that things were going almost a little too good for them makes me suspicious. I was expecting this to be a trap and there’d be a bunch scouts down in the warehouse, or it wasn't a warehouse at all but a prison cell or something. But no, for now, things are actually going according to plan.
Of course, it is a classic and well-established trope that every heist must have something go wrong. This is regardless of whether it is the good guys or the bad guys pulling off the heist. So something will inevitably go wrong. Maybe Eda will let herself get captured to be brought to Raine (which is actually a good thing, provided that she actually does get brought to Raine).
Tumblr media
Go Go Gadget Helihoopter!
…wait, why aren’t you using your staff to fly, Lilith?
Tumblr media
Pictured: Steve is crying because he saw a couple of witches in love and he was reminded that Lilith does not reciprocate his feelings
Tumblr media
It looks like King and Steve (and by extension, Lilith & Hooty) are slowly moving closer to the head. Which is where the rest of the magic population is moving and where the Day of unity will take place.
I mean, it’s probably also because King is connecting with his parent in some way, and good for him if that makes him feel better. Not sure how lying in a water puddle has helps with that, but hey, you do you King. Who am I to tell you how to emotionally develop?
But, ah… I’m not sure I feel safe knowing that they are moving ever closer to the place where all the bad guys are going to be.
Tumblr media
So I wasn’t entirely out biking when I said Eda might give herself up to get to Raine, though not exactly in the way I was thinking. Eda begs Raine to get her kids to safety and she’ll give herself up on the spot.
Raine looks like they’re about to crack, but then Terra comes in to ruin everything as per usual. Eda avoids being recognized while Raine gives a vague enough instruction for Eda to stay where she is while Raine sends someone over.
(less than a second after this screenshot, the camera pans to the side to reveal Luz standing there in the door opening)
Eda begging Raine to protect Luz and King, her kids… oof, that gets me, right in the feelings. And the revelation that Eda had kids to take care of was what made Raine abandon the plan they had in Eda’s Requiem too.
We, the audience, knows that Raine is in control of themselves and working with Darius and Eberwolf on a counter. Wether they’ve actually made any more progress than Lilith had at the beginning of this episode, we don’t know yet. But Darius did have the idea to use Eda’s curse. Raine refused, not wanting to bring Eda in on this (partially because they love her and partially because Eda has her children to take care of). But with no other ideas and Eda giving herself up… they might actually have to go with that plan.

One more list of "What if the Owl house character's were pokemon trainers" #3
Okay so The Owl house was the first ever cartoon I did pokemon teams for. Month's ago I made two post's on it: one for notable back ground characters, and one for our main 5. I thoght about doing one for adults... but the adult character, except for Eda and Lilith, did not get a lot of chances to be explored all the way through. I wasn't sure how to do full teams with them, and ended up did not do any for the adults. earlier this week I was board and looking back at my list for notable back ground characters; and I noticed that I hadn't included Viney. Okay she didn't get the screen time she deserved, but she is a great character and I feel she at least deserves a four pokemon team (Like I gave the Edric and Emira). All that being said I do not feel Viney and a four pokemon team are enough for a stand alone post. So I decided to add Jerbo and give him three. It still was not enough. Okay, So I will do Viney and Jerbo's smaller teams then the full teams I thought of for the Clawthorne sisters. I have also been working on smaller teams for notable (if underdeveloped) adult characters, and if I see this one still do pretty well I will post a fourth post
The Owl Lady a.k.a (Eda)lyn Clawthorne
Tumblr media
Hoothoot: Represent's Owlbert. I mentioned it on Luz's team, saying how it's technically Eda's pokemon, Hoothoot is also close with Luz, and frequently joins Luz's team in an effort to help Eda watch over her.
Noctowl: This represents Hooty. Since it is now cannon that Post final pre epilouge Hooty moves out of the Owl house and in with Lilith I will say the sisters made a trade and Lilith gave Eda her an Omastar.
Cubone: This is to represent King. Everybody who knows both King anf pokemon knows that Dana and the crew already based King's design off of Cubone. So How could I not give Eda a Cubone? (Fun coinsidence Stanley Pines also has a Cubone on my GF list)
Gasty, Haunter, and Gangar: Okay so obviously Eda would have to have a cubone and a couple owls (Owl lady), but the obvious aside you cannot tell me that "Ghost type" would not be her favorite type. As far as ghost types go these three are and will always be the Kings. Their designs rock, all three are super powerful, they are clever. If that's not enough they're all three mischievous pranksters. If Eda were ever to have pokemon minions, those minions would be a Gastly, Haunter, and a Ganger.
Eda's team: Hoothoot, Noctowl (traded for a Omastar during Time skip), Cubone, Gastly, Haunter, Gangar.
Lilith (Lilly) Clawthorne
Tumblr media
Phantump and Trevenant: As soon as I decided to do Lilith I decided she should have three ghosts, like Eda did. At first I was gonna give her the licklit line since its also a trilogy but well they really are not that impressive looking, especially when compared to her sisters. In the end I when with the Phantump line. They are pretty cool looking. Are scary at first, but it turns out they just want friends, Kinda like Lilith... also they have a move unique to them called "forest Curse" (The show wanted the fans to forget come season 2, but we all remembered). Trevenant requires a trade to evolve, so I gave Steve a pokemon that did too, and am just saying that her and Steve did a quick trade and trade back.
Bannette: Here's one Lilith had to have due to her... deep-seated unresolved/partially resolved family issues/sister complex. (Another fun coincidence Stanford Pines also has a bannett on my GF list)
Murrkrow: This one is to represent her palisman Mike Socks. I picked it over a more similar colored bird because Murrkrow steal something it is bad to do, but are doing so to placate a higher up Honchkrow. This can represent Lilith's relationship with Belos and how he was able to manipulate her to do bad things.
Omanyte and Omaster: Lilith is a historian who absolutely loves history so she would want fossil pokemon, and being a part of the Emperor's coven likely had access to the means to revive a pair. I picked these two, well because they look similar to barnicles which Lilith canonically likes to make into crowns and wear on her head. For real though while this pair are smaller and not as colorful or powerful looking as the big Dino fossil pokemon, I could easily see Lilith easily loving them. As mentioned above Eda eventually comes around to see the pair as pretty cool too, and the sisters make a trade: Omastar for Noctowl. (Lilith seems to like to trading in this universe)
Lilith's Team: Phantump, Trevenant, Banette, Murrkrow, Omanyte, Omaster.

What do you think about Eda and her sudden transformation into a mom for everyone?
While I wouldn't say she became a mother for Everyone, I still have some thoughts to share regarding that evolution! More below the cut, as always!
Contrary to the claim presented above by anon, it wasn't that sudden. Of course, in the first episodes she called the ten year old living in her house a roommate and initially wanted the 14 year old from another dimension to be her helper, nothing about her was remotely motherly, but the viewer can clearly see the slow progression. As she got to know Luz more and more, we can see how the girl altered her views on many things by simply being around - thus forcing Eda to reconsider both Luz and herself more and more. In the Intruder as well as "Hooty's Moving Hassle" we see her realizing Luz' potential, alongside potentially seeing her younger self in Luz. After all, projecting isn't always a bad thing, though most of the time it does lead to severe misunderstandings. In Eda's case though, that just helped her realize what Luz needed as a fellow weirdo in order to thrive - since Eda probably didn't have that kind of guidance back in the day. I personally think that's where their bond truly began to evolve. From then on, we see that she does her best to give Luz the opportunities she deserves to thrive. However by that point, she still doesn't consider herself a maternal figure to both King and Luz. However, we do see in "Lost in Language" that she actually does have a deeply repressed need to perform the role of a caretaker - despite initially despising the idea of caring for the Bat Babies, when the time came to get them under control, she knew exactly what to do and was visibly happy with both the process and in the results - cuddling three infants without a care in the world, and then being even more visibly distraught then dissappointed when they disappeared. (Also let's not forget how she had a book with stories for kids at the ready at her house.) That goes to show that those feelings didn't appear out of nowhere. They were always there - repressed after years of being forced to be alone due to the curse and being chased by the law. After losing Lilith to the Emperor's Coven, hurting her father because of the curse, as well as breaking up with Raine as she was too scared to open up to them, it all lead to a wall forming around her - protecting her from making yet another attachement. One that Luz' presence broke through, per Eda's own words : "Dang it kid, your nonsense has gotten into my head." Eda got to know Luz, and in turn herself - realizing that being someone's caretaker and protector is what truly makes her happy and fulfilled, and that by living alone and for no one she was just wasting her life : which finally culminated in Agony of a Witch. Not only do we see Eda willing to sacrifice herself for Luz, in the next episode she says herself that she doesn't regret anything because she got to meet her. In season 2, now that she's happier with herself as a person, she only continued to act upon that deeply internalized need. Because that's good writing. You can't just add an important trait onto a character and then remove it with the next season. And, as it happens with love, it's contagious. It was only a matter of time before she assumed the maternal/caretaker role with "everyone" as anon put it, which...As far as I remember still only includes Luz, King and then the BATTs and partially Hunter, but he didn't stick around long enough to truly feel that love. He doesn't count. In "Them's the Breaks, Kid" as well as "Something Ventured, Someone Framed" it's also revealed that she felt responsible for Lilith and her well-being, going as far as to causing a scene to get her stolen lunch money back, or signing herself up for extra activities to escape expulsion, in order to stay with her. TL;DR No, her being a maternal figure wasn't sudden. Her actively enjoying taking the role of a caretaker was consistently and slowly built up over the course of the show, not a sudden retcon for the sake of feels. Hope that answers your question sufficiently!!

Owlets
Eda and Luz were the last ones in the kitchen, Eda washing the dishes and Luz at the table making a few adjustments to her repulsor/glyph glove blueprint. Lilith had gone to sleep on the couch and Spot was helping King get ready for bed (aka carrying the smaller demon around). Luz enjoyed the moment of relative silence, a rare treat these days. The sound of running water acting as a kind of white noise.  It was nice until her A.I. chimed in.
“Adding a generator as a backup power source should allow for it to work on earth.” T.I.T.A.N. suggested.
“How would you even fit them both in it?” I.S.A.A.C. questioned. “She still needs to keep it hidden.”
“Instead of a watch it could be a bracelet with the reactor and generator disguised as charms?” They suggested.
“You don't sound too confident there.”
“Must you be such a-” Luz muted the earbud before they could finish. T.I.T.A.N. was onto something but she’d need to figure out a way to shrink the Arc Reactor even further. The generator would be easy enough, she had been working on it for years now after all.
“Hey, kid?” Eda turned the faucet off. Luz hummed as she erased a formula. “Can we talk about what happened today?”
“What’s there to talk about?” She asked genuinely.
“Why you were on that boat.”
No, that was too high. She would need to adjust that.
“I was working a job. Simple as that.”
Eda sighed and gently pulled her notebook away from her. She tried to reach for it but Eda was quick to move it out of her reach.
“Luz, you shouldn't worry about money.”
“No offense, Eda, but it was just a job.” She looked back down at the table, tracing glyphs onto the surface. “Don't look so deep into it.”
‘Liar.’ Her mind whispered. She ignored it.
“This isn't just about the Selkidomus. Did you keep any of the snails from your grand opening?”
“Of course.” Not. She gave it all to Eda. It wasn't like she had employees to pay. She had no reason to keep them if they could help. “Can I have my notebook back?”
“Look me in the eyes.” Luz did and saw the concern in her mentor’s eyes. “Did you keep any?”
It was so much easier to lie when she wasn't looking. Her silence seemed to say enough as Eda brought her into a hug.
“Oh, kid. You're too young to be worried about money.”
A hand softly combed through Luz’s hair.
“But I want to help…”
“You can help around the house if it really matters. Titan knows King and I hate washing Hooty.” The older witch laughed.
“That’s not what I mean and you know it.”
“I know. How ‘bout this, I’ll help out with your stand from time to time, you pay me for my help and keep the rest.”
Luz yawned as she nodded, that could work. It was late and she was growing more tired the longer she stayed there. Eda hummed that same melody from that night of the petrification ceremony. She would just close her eyes for a second and then back to work. She had a long day after all.
---
Eda listened as Luz’s breath deepened and her strange heartbeat steadied. The poor human must have been exhausted. The Owl Lady adjusted her grip on the kid, one supporting her back and the other under her legs, and stood, softly ending Raine's Rhapsody. That seemed to knock the kid out pretty well. “Bed time, kiddo.”
Luz let out a groan and tried to move closer to Eda. Some part of her cooed and whispered ‘Owlet’ to her. It sounded both strange and familiar to her.
‘She already has a family.’ Eda reminded herself as she carried Luz up to her room.
The door was left slightly ajar, waiting for Luz to return. She nudged the door open with her foot and found Spot curled around King, who was curled around his stuffed bunny. Eda moved the sleeping bag closer to the demons and set Luz down. Once the human was tucked in, before she could think it over, she kissed Luz and King on the forehead and scratched at the base of Spot’s neck.
‘Owlets.’ The voice cooed again. Eda softly closed the door with a smile.
‘Maybe for now.’
