Because it's not about their bodies? but the fact that this is them?
It's Wuxian, no matter what body he's in. It's Hua Cheng, no matter what he looks like and what form he takes.
It's Shen Qingqiu and even he doesn't care that's not his original body. Judging by how he lamented his plant body - he doesn't mind changing the bodies at all.
Somehow it's so irritating as if the only thing you can care about is the other's body. Isn't it like the whole point that it's not the issue as long as it's them? Arrrgh.

Something that is in fact SO important to Wei Wuxian is that, fundamentally, he is hot. He is Thee Hot Girl. He’s shooting five arrows blindfolded as a charged political statement and he’s doing it with zero magic powers AND he was sexy when he did it. He beats out his own brother (sorry, Jiang Cheng) for Most Eligible Bachelor despite being literally dirt poor and not a sect heir. He lives rent free in the minds of everybody twenty years later, to the point that JC and LWJ are literally Like That and NHS literally constructed his revenge plot around him and— look, just watch the scenes at the Second Burial Mounds Siege. Oh, and they use all his inventions, even though he’s an evil heretic, because uhhh they were really good inventions. Actually. Like he was in fact at the top of the field as an inventor and innovator. And he was hot. AND he had no powers. Whoops.

You all KNOW how differently Les Mis would be received in the cultivation world.
For starters, the Audacity!! of those servants to speak up??? You bet the vast majority of the gentry is barely aware there are some people who cook, and clean, and do stuff. Unimportant, uncultivated people who have no name and no face, and certainly no voice. What do you mean, they started singing? For freedom? what freedom? We killed the Wens already, we’re free, no?
Second, the concept of social class conscience is as alien to them cultivators as... well, probably aliens. The common folk are people to Save Heroically when yao come a’knocking. People have no other function in society than being workers or helpless victims. That they can organize, choose representatives and hold positions of power is allowed within their own circle, and any further rising will crash against a very heavy glass celling made of spiritual swords and talismans.
So yeah, a story about acknowledging that all people are human beings with Rights and Feelings and Aspirations beyond their “lot by birth”, and a chant for freedom and justice for all! will meet, even by the uber-tolerant borderline hippy YungmengJiang Sect with utter incomprehension, a few raised eyebrows and probably a few sword stabs.

Perhaps "fixed" would be a stretch but a girl can't help but think that a good PR team would have at least significantly improved Wei Wuxian's situation
