‘cause right now you're mine
set in this verse
THURSDAY, APRIL 2nd
Dean 12:01 You didn’t tell me you led Carver Prep’s quiz bowl team???
Castiel 12:15 It’s in the middle of the school day and you’re texting. What kind of example are you setting for your students?
Castiel 12:16 I didn’t tell you because it wasn’t relevant.
Dean 12:17 Haha smartass I’m having lunch in my office Youre texting me back so i see right through you And of course it’s freaking relevant
Castiel 12:20 How?
Dean 12:21 Because I got tapped to coach Edlund High's quiz bowl team this morning!
Castiel 12:21 Oh no.
Dean 12:30 Oh no is right buddy
Castiel 12:37 I thought you coached the softball team.
Dean 12:37 I can do both You’re dating a very talented man
Castiel 12:49 I know that. I just didn’t know it extended to quiz bowls and softball in addition to blow jobs and breaking and entering places to give blow jobs.
Dean 12:52 What the fuck is wrong with you I’m in school! My lunch hour is almost over I’ll have to get up from my desk very soon This is all your fault
Castiel 12:59 :)
Dean 1:00 Just for that No blow jobs for you tonight
Castiel 1:07 :(
 MONDAY, APRIL 6th
Dean 11:55 I bet I can grade more midterms than you today
Castiel 11:58 I know better than to make bets with you, Dean Winchester.
Dean 12:03 It was just a kiss I bet you’re just pissed you lost
Castiel 12:04 I can’t engage in PDA in front of my niece and one of my students at a school event!
Dean 12:04 Youre such a prude
Castiel 12:06 Unlike some teachers, I maintain boundaries between my personal and professional life.
Dean 12:07 Prude.
Castiel 12:09 Did you text me on a Monday afternoon just to harass me about my reluctance to kiss my boyfriend in front of minors?
Dean 12:11 Huh Boyfriend
Castiel 12:20 Dean?
Dean 12:21 What?
Castiel 12:22 Is everything okay?
Dean 12:23 Other than *my boyfriend* refusing to even entertain the idea of a friendly wager?
Castiel 12:23 Yes, other than that.
Dean 12:23 No
Castiel 12:25 That’s good. You scared me for a second.
Dean 12:26 I did?
Castiel 12:26 Are you okay with being my boyfriend? The long gap between our messages made me realize we haven’t talked about it before.
Dean 12:27 I mean it’s a little weird My 16 year old students have boyfriends “boyfriend” seems a little I don’t know Juvenile We’re not 16 anymore, Cas Thank god.
Castiel 12:30 Would you prefer “partner”?
Castiel 12:31 It’s just whenever I hear someone call their significant other “partner” I can never tell if they are talking about their life partner, same-sex partner, police partner, or if they are cowboys. That was a joke! Ignore this. I remember how much you like Westerns. “Partners” is off the table.
Dean 12:31 HOWDY YALL THIS IS MY PARTNER CAS
Castiel 12:31 Please never introduce me to someone like this.
Dean 12:32 Only if you watch Tombstone with me tonight
Castiel 12:33 Can I still grade my midterms?
Dean 12:35 You’re killing me here Cas Yes
Castiel 12:40 I’m your huckleberry
 SUNDAY, APRIL 12th
Castiel 2:19 Good luck with the softball game today!
Dean 2:21 You’d better make it up for me for missing this one Its the semifinals
Castiel 2:22 I will. Say “hi” to Claire for me.
Dean 2:27 What the hell? Why is she here? We’re not even playing Carver
Castiel 2:29 She has a crush on Kaia Nieves
Dean 2:30 Ohhhhh That explains a lot
Castiel 2:30 She thinks she’s being subtle.
Dean 2:37 I see that runs in the family Subtle as a brick wall. All of you.
Castiel 2:38 Excuse me, you had no idea about my feelings for you back in high school.
Dean 2:49 So? Charlie said you were obvious as fuck But it didn’t matter since I was a dumbass
Castiel 2:50 I prefer oblivious Less dumb Less ass
Dean 2:57 How dare you My ass is a goddamn gift. You take that back right now
Castiel 2:59 Of course. Don’t you have a game to coach?
Dean 3:01 Shit you’re right
 TUESDAY, APRIL 14th
Castiel 11:18 I know how I can make up for missing that last softball game last weekend
Dean 12:01 Sorry The kids called me out for texting you 5 mins before the bell last time How the hell did i get stuck with a class full of narcs
Castiel 12:03 It’s probably karma For all the rule breaking you did in school
Dean 12:05 Hey I wasn’t that bad
Castiel 12:05 You frequently defaced school desks and returned library books after their due date.
Dean 12:06 I’m dating a narc too???
Castiel 12:07 You didn’t ask what I have planned.
Dean 12:07 OK i’ll bite What do you have planned babe? Please tell me it’s not another documentary on bees That was depressing The grand canyon one was cool though
Castiel 12:10 Speaking of narcs
Dean 12:10 This doesn’t sound good
Castiel 12:11 When I had to get my extra copy of Camus from my car, I stumbled on Miriam at the edge of the parking lot with a few more students. They were skipping class and smoking marijuana. Naturally, I reported them to the administration.
Dean 12:13 Not helping your not-a-narc case
Castiel 12:13 They received detention for skipping class.
Dean 12:13 And the drugs?
Castiel 12:13 I may have neglected to report the drug use.
Dean 12:14 Seriously?
Castiel 12:14 I still confiscated it. Research evidence shows marijuana has negative effects on the developing brain.
Dean 12:14 I guess that’s fair
Dean 12:15 Hang on Do you still have it? OUR brains are old as balls Seriously, are you telling me you have weed now?
Castiel 12:15 Surprise?  I can throw it out if you’d prefer to do something else tonight.
Dean 12:15 Dont you dare!!! I’m going to get a six pack on the way home, download the last Star Wars, and we’re gonna do this right Your place or mine?
Castiel 12:16 I have been neglecting laundry lately. Yours?
Dean 12:16 You’re on This is going to be so awesome
 WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15th
Dean 12:06 Did you really mean to invite me to dinner with your brother?
Castiel 12:09 I didn’t mean to bring it up when we were high, but the invitation still stands. Claire told him we were together. He wants to meet you.
Dean 12:11 Oh
Castiel 12:11 You do not have to say yes.
Dean 12:13 I’ll go It just took me by surprise
Castiel 12:13 I don’t want to pressure you.
Dean 12:14 Youre not pressuring me
Castiel 12:14 Are you sure?
Dean 12:16 Look, I just know your relationship with your brother is complicated And I don’t want to stick my foot in it By accident or some other way
Castiel 12:20 We’re in a better place than I’d like to admit. I spent a long time resenting Jimmy for the time he had with Father. But it wasn’t his fault Father was a bastard who had a second family he preferred to be with. Jimmy was barely in middle school when Father started going on his “business trips”
Dean 12:21 Jesus christ You told me bit about it back in high school But I didn’t realize it was a second family situation
Castiel 12:21 Mother kept it from us for years. I still haven’t forgiven her for it.
Dean 12:21 Are you OK?
Castiel 12:22 I’m fine. It was a long time ago.
Dean 12:22 That stuff takes a long time to get over.
Castiel 12:22 I suppose.
Dean 12:23 Is it okay if you stay at mine tonight?
Castiel 12:24 Our next date isn’t until Friday
Dean 12:24 I don’t want to wait until Friday to see you
Castiel 12:27 Can you pick me up at Carver at 4pm?
Dean 12:27 You got it More time with you and my baby Win-win!
 FRIDAY, APRIL 24th
Dean 11:51 Are you sure what I usually wear to school is OK?
Castiel 11:53 You texted me nine minutes early?
Dean 11:53 Shut up I had to bribe my kids For NINE extra minutes Friggin tyrants
Castiel 11:54 What did they extort from you?
Dean 11:54 I promised to throw out their lowest pop quiz grade
Castiel 11:54 That isn’t too bad.
Dean 11:54 I was already planning on doing it
Castiel 11:55 Clever of you.
Dean 11:56 You’re not just dating a pretty face But getting back to dinner with your brother Is a regular button up OK? The tie hides most of the sloppy joe stain
Castiel 11:56 I’m sure you look very handsome
Dean 11:57 I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not
Castiel 11:57 I rarely manage sarcasm in-person. What makes you think I would attempt it over text?
Dean 11:58 Good point
Castiel 11:58 You’re a very good-looking man, Dean. I’ve known this since we were 15.
Dean 11:59 Stop it you’re making me blush
Castiel 12:01 It’s the truth.
Dean 12:04 Alright, alright I’m already sleeping with you No need to butter me up
Dean 12:05 It’s just I remember how you used to talk about him The perfect big brother
Castiel 12:07 More like the perfect student and perfect son. Jimmy was honestly too busy to be much of a brother. The 11 year age difference didn’t help. When I was in high school, he already had the perfect nuclear family on the way.
Dean 12:07 Exactly
Castiel 12:08 Exactly what?
Dean 12:08 You’re lucky I know you And I know you’re not drawing this out on purpose Look, i want to make a good impression, OK? he seems like a hard guy to please.
Castiel 12:09 I That’s very admirable of you, but it’s entirely unnecessary.
Dean 12:10 He’s your family
Castiel 12:11 And I understand family is very important to you, but it isn’t the same with me. It would be very nice if dinner goes well, but if it does not, I will not care in the slightest.
Dean 12:11 Really?
Castiel 12:11 Truly.
 SATURDAY, APRIL 25th
11:16 I’m sorry for my dad.
Dean 11:17 Who is this?
11:20 Claire Novak
Dean 11:21 How did you get this number?
Claire 11:23 Alex Jones
Dean 11:24 How did Alex get my number???
Claire 11:24 It was on the softball permission forms How did you not know this Didn’t you draft them?
Dean 11:25 It’s been a while I’m a very busy man
Claire 11:25 Sure. Anyway, my dad was a dick.  Totally out of line last night
Dean 11:26 Shouldn’t you be texting Cas about this?
Claire 11:26 I don’t have his number
Dean 11:26 Cas wasn’t kidding when he said you guys weren’t close
Claire 11:27 Nope.
Dean 11:27 Well I am very close with my brother He’s a lawyer out in California
Claire 11:27 Good for you???
Dean 11:29 It doesn’t sit right with me that Cas doesn't have a real relationship with his family
Claire 11:31 That seems like Uncle Castiels business
Dean 11:33 But Jimmy isn’t Cas’s only family SO if you ever need a place to crash, i’m always available
Claire 11:35 Maybe my dad was right And you’re secretly a perv I’m not staying with you you freak
Dean 11:35 Jesus christ, I’m trying to say, if ALEX isn’t the only girl on Edlund's softball team you’re getting buddy-buddy with, it’s fine You should get a chance to explore that part of being a teenager While STAYING SAFE But don’t let your parents stand in the way of that side of your life
Claire 11:41 Dad wouldn’t kick me out
Dean 11:42 Maybe not. But if you are at all uncomfortable, just give cas a call I’ll forward you his contact info now
“I might have told Claire she’s always welcome at my place if she comes out to her parents,” Dean says as he pockets his phone. He turns his back on the pile of sparkling clean dishes drying on the rack by Cas's sink. Dean adds, “Hopefully she’ll ask you before she goes to me.”
They hadn't really discussed the disaster of a dinner with Jimmy and Claire. A few tense words on the drive back to Cas's house, a tacit acknowledgement in the morning not to mention it until after coffee and breakfast. But then Cas brought out his homework for the weekend, even while last night's argument scratches at the back of his mind like a fly trapped in a windowless room. So Dean did the dishes and texted Claire.
Cas looks up from his juniors’ final exams. “You were talking to Claire?”
“She texted me first,” Dean says defensively.
Cas sighs and caps his pen. It’s blue, because red pen, according to Cas, is too traumatizing a grading implement. “I’m very sorry about last night.”
Dean waves his apology off. “You warned me it could go sideways.”
Cas’s brow furrows. “Still,” he says slowly, “I told my mother and Jimmy I was gay a few years ago. I think it was easy for them to ignore it as long as I didn’t have a boyfriend in the picture.”
Dean fiddles with a dishrag as he hovers by the sink. “Was Jimmy a jackass to your other boyfriends?”
“What others?” Cas asks wryly. “None of them were ever serious enough to pique Jimmy’s interest.”
“Really?”
Cas nods and gestures for Dean to take a seat at the kitchen table next to him. He holds out his hand, which Dean takes, bemused. “I don’t know why Jimmy thought religion was an appropriate introductory dinner topic. I could tell he was trying to genuinely understand our… lifestyle, to use his word, but-”
“I got angry,” Dean says looking down at their clasped hands.
“You didn’t say anything I wasn't thinking,” Cas says simply. “I’m glad you reached out to Claire.”
“It seems like she needed it.”
“She doesn’t have a lot of adults in her life she can rely on to be in her corner,” Cas says diplomatically. “I’ve tried, over the years, but I can’t relate to her at all.”
Dean laughs. “Of course not. Teenage rebellion wasn’t really your style.”
“Ah yes, of course,” Cas says, his voice dry as chalk, “you’d be the perfect person to talk to her. The cool kids speak their own language. How could I forget?”
Dean smirks. “It’s full of references you don’t get.”
“Don’t remind me,” Cas says darkly.
Dean leans in for a kiss. Eyes dancing, as he whispers, “Relax, babe. You were always the coolest kid in school to me."

I was curious if rewatching Kizuna after not having seen it since it released in late February would change my opinion of it any. It has a little bit. Not a lot, but a little. Spoiler warning!
To recap, I didn’t hate it or anything, it just didn’t amaze me. As far as grown up nostalgia movies based off anime go, it’s pretty solid, I think.
I felt that I enjoyed it more this time around, and I think there are a couple reasons why: first, I’m having a good day, whereas when I saw it in the theater I was in the worst mood ever. :P So there’s that factor that’s totally unrelated to anyone to but me.
Second, we’re now so distant from both Tri and Kizuna that I’m not so inclined to compare them. They really shouldn’t be compared anyway for billions of reasons, but before Kizuna came out it was a natural thing to be doing. There was lots of weird hearsay about Kizuna on the net before the release too, like that a long time Digimon producer had walked on the project etc...
(I guess if you waited till the DVD release/overseas release, it hasn’t been out that long for you... but for those of us who saw it last spring, we’ve got some distance now xP)
So here's how I feel about it now:
I still just don’t enjoy the whole “you grow up and lose your endless potential so your partner disappears” thing. And it’s not even like it doesn’t make sense. In the Adventure universe, what’s always been clear is that wishes, strong belief, passion, are the energy that fuels creation. It was a fun kid’s concept that has grown a lot and reaches I suppose its inevitable grown up meaning in Kizuna. If your view of the future narrows and becomes something like “I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing as an adult,” it’s easy to see how that would result in a decrease of that energy. And it CAN be renewed. They explain the entire movie in that one blurb at the very beginning (which I actually missed the first time since I got to the theater late) that talks about how change is inevitable and there’s always a new adventure.
It’s a fleshed out idea. Much more well-rounded than those old fanfics that treated Digimon like parental replacements and their disappearance in adulthood was synonymous with growth. I always hated that idea because, like, I get that some fans only really like the kids, but I always loved the Digimon. I think probably the majority of us do? And reducing them like that... it just takes away the fun and the emotional impact of the story. I hate to be hit over the head with metaphor, especially when the metaphor is grossly obvious.
But because of that idea that was so popular while I was growing up, I can’t help but clench my teeth through Kizuna’s interpretation of it, even though it’s so much better developed. Kizuna’s concept makes sense and doesn’t diminish the Digimon partners, not really... but I just don’t want it. The underlying theme that it’s up to the Chosen to continue to choose to be Chosen, in their own way, and continue to try to unlock their unending potential as adults, and then presumably they’ll be reunited with their partners... like it’s good, really, I should like it. I just never wanted it and still don’t.
The way the movie focuses so heavily on Taichi and Yamato bothers me less than it did on first viewing. It helps that I like those two characters a lot. I will always wish we got more of everyone, of course. I’m glad Koushirou was still indispensable. Takeru and Hikari got to be really cool in the opening scene. Seeing Angemon and Angewomon fight together rocked. Sora’s abscene was tough, but makes sense with the theme of the movie and her chosen role. All the characters still seemed like themselves. I’m always going to want more, but I’m grateful for that.
Also on initial viewing, I was underwhelmed by the 02 kids’ role, but now I think they got a pretty good slice of the pie, all things considered. Especially Daisuke and Miyako, who were awesome. I’m still whatever about Ken’s part though and wish they’d picked ANY OTHER HAIRSTYLE.
The pace of the movie is really good. It doesn’t feel rushed or jerky the way parts of Tri did. The first 30-45 min I really do think are stellar - it’s starting with the reveal that Menoa is the bad guy (big surprise, not) that I start to be less interested. It leads to the big battle scene, which is elevated by the emotional and mental trauma that powers Menoa and even powers the Chosen Children she abducts. I definitely would not have preferred a standard Big Bad with no relatable motivations. But I still don’t like Menoa, as a person or a villain. I kind of wonder if Menoa is the result of plans for Himekawa in Tri that never made it...
There’s that bit where the other Chosen are brainwashed, and yet not, because it’s their own wish for things to not have to change that powers them... I get it, I do, but I still wish there were less brainwashing. Menoa really had to reach to pull out that wish so that it was at the forefront of their hearts to the point that they’d attack Taichi and Yamato. So it wasn’t really their decision, unless it’s a sin simply to have conflicting desires. I’m not saying I would have preferred Hikari, for example, to have said completely by her own will “I’m with Menoa and I’m going to attack my brother!” because that would be dumb. Rather, I just find the whole child abduction to Neverland concept boring. The long and short of it I guess is I didn’t enjoy the battle scene that much. Regardless of the story around it, it’s still just an anime battle that ends with yet another new evolution.
We could totally have had interesting stuff for the other characters to do if there weren’t such a requirement that there be a big long battle. Some battle? sure. It’s Digimon. But does it have to be that long? Really? Kizuna’s not being shown to eight year olds during Saturday morning cartoons. It was adult fans in the theater after work. For a story that’s all about unlimited potential, I wonder did Kizuna itself really reach the unlimited potential for Digimon stories? lol.
So those are things I just can’t get around. However, at least we got an enjoyable movie out of it.
I still vastly prefer Tri. Kizuna has better animation, steadier pacing, and a more tied up storyline. But to me, Tri is better partly because of the amount of time it had (six movies to one), the huge risks it took, the great character moments everyone got, and the nontraditional plot. Of course, as I said at the start, it really doesn’t make sense to compare Tri and Kizuna for the simple reason that Tri is a series and Kizuna is a movie. That’s not to say a movie can’t kick a series out of the water - it absolutely can, quality over quantity folks - but in this case I’d argue the amount of time makes a difference. Digimon is a show about 8 individual kids who were all nearly equal in terms of how much they mattered in 99 Adventure. That’s why the extreme focus on Taichi and Yamato in the reboot and in Kizuna bugs me. Tri had time to take on all eight and we still complained that we didn’t also get the four from 02. Kizuna has all 12 of the kids in the main cast for just 90 minutes total, that’s it. For fans whose priorities, like mine, are face time with the characters, getting to know them again, see how they change, and enjoy a mix of the familiar and the different, I just don’t think Kizuna can fulfill all that.
Pretty much, if we had Kizuna without Tri, I’d probably hate it for that reason. But because we got Tri before Kizuna, I feel free to enjoy Kizuna for what it is. Which is overall pretty good if just not my personal desire.
lol how come I just can’t write anything short. xP All that being said, there were tons of things in Kizuna that I loved, the art, the snapshots of the adult relationships between characters, esp Taichi/Yamato, Taichi/Koushirou, Takeru/Hikari. And more than anything, the relationships between children and Digimon. Also loved cool spy Yamato of course. And the whistle. I said all this back in Feb so I’m gonna end now but I did just want to sum up my thoughts after they changed a bit.

Member: Min Yoongi/Jeon Jungkook (BTS) Genre: Angst/Mystery/Fantasy Warnings: slight nudity, swearing Rating: Teen AU: Non-idol/Merman/Explorers/Mystery/Fantasy Word count:  7.6k
In part of the YoonKookBigBang Challenge Art can be found here
Adventures of people who have lost their souls are always the greatest, when they set their minds to something, it was almost assured that they'd get it done in order to fill the empty void that they have inside. It was similar for Jungkook and his friends, or rather, his co-workers since that's what they really are. Together, they're searching for new adventures, new mysteries to solve; they were explorers after all, always hungry for anything they could wrap their brains around. Here they sit in their headquarters, searching through books aged from time and qualified websites from Google, desperately trying to collect a hint of a new adventure, somewhere new and unexplored for them to investigate. Jungkook was searching through his typical websites, which consisted and fanatic explorers and confused hikers or travelers, but coming up with nothing. That was, until something caught his interest; an underwater graveyard, something with no explanation and no supposed previous investigator, and the coordinates were listed just under the photo of it. Brimming with anticipation and eagerness, a sly smile grew across his face. “Namjoon, I think I found our new adventure.” Jungkook whispered. “Wait what, you actually found something?” Namjoon inquired, head whipping around in response to the voice that had broken a frustrating silence between their members. Because of Namjoon's loud voice, the other two men in the room rushed over to Jungkook's desk to stare at his computer screen, looking over what they saw as Namjoon joined in. “An underwater graveyard?” One of the men, Jin, questioned, eyebrows furrowing as he leaned in closer to stare at the blurry picture displayed across the screen.
Jungkook let out a mighty huff to Jin’s response, quipping, “If you guys don't like it, I can just go by myself and you guys can stick to the old adventures that always, and I mean, always ended up with an old Greek man saying he's going to do something absolutely insane.” Jungkook took a hold of his mouse as he was about to click out of the tab, but a hand on his own stopped him. “You're not going by yourself, we've talked about this Jungkook. Just because one of us questions why you want to do it doesn't mean that we don't want to do it too, dummy. We just want your reason so we can discuss.” Namjoon reprimanded, now taking his hand off of Jungkook’s. The other man behind Namjoon wasn’t as enthusiastic as any of them were: “I don't want to go; it's in the ocean, there are sharks in, and we're going to die.” Hoseok declared, tapping his foot in what seemed like anger or extreme anxiety. “You think everything is going to kill us, you scaredy cat. I think it's a great idea, since it seems really cool, but we'll have to really research it before we go out there, since it’s near an island and all, and I'm sure we’re gonna need scuba diving training so we can collect evidence from there, so if we choose to tackle this, we’re need to start soon.” Jin pointed out, draping his arms languidly on the back of Jungkook’s desk as he smiled towards the timid man. “Namjoon, do you want to do it? ‘cause of you say yes, we’re spend the rest of today researching and finding out more about the location.” Jungkook said, looking up at the man standing beside his chair. Namjoon, being the most prominent leader of their group, always got the final say before any of them dove headfirst into the world of investigation. Namjoon raised his eyebrows knowingly at Jungkook, giving his own smirk to him before addressing the rest of the group. “Let's do it. Hoseok, you're shit out of luck my friend, we’re not going to any pyramids this time around.” Namjoon said with a laugh. He patted Jungkook’s back before walking away to begin preparations. Hoseok cried out in agony, roughly gripping his hair as he stomped away, his cowardly demeanor reigning supreme, but he was by far the best researcher that their small group had ever seen, and they had been through plenty of sketchy adventures together to know he was just nervous. Namjoon and Jungkook have been dreaming of becoming world famous explorers since they were teenagers, especially considering the fact that they're brothers and their parents did the same thing they wanted to do until they had to retire a few years back. Since then, the brothers looked around the Korea, trying to find people that thought logic was over reason, and they'd gone through at least 10 other people before they had gotten to where they currently were, with Kim Seokjin for their main evidence collector and analyzer, and Jung Hoseok as their secondary researcher with Jungkook and Namjoon filling in the gaps. The four of them worked perfectly together, their minds almost in sync with each other; they were a well oiled machine that couldn’t be stopped. Jungkook continued looking through the thread he found on this graveyard and examined photos of the island they would be staying at. Namjoon took the reigns on going fully into the the geography of the surrounding ocean and where this underwater graveyard was located, so they could travel easily and know where they were going to dive. Jin called around to find scuba diving classes for them so they could effectively explore and take photographs and Jungkook wouldn’t be heavily burdened with the task alone. Hoseok was (angrily) finding books on the history of the island and ocean what they would be expecting to encounter above and below water. They went on a researching rampage for weeks, finding every little thing they could on the island that was near the underwater graveyard, but Jungkook was still caught up with one of the photos he found of it. There seemed to be what could only called a mermaid of sorts from behind a thick veil of sand being kicked up by the photographer, picking a shell up off the ocean floor with other objects cradled in their arms. It had a black tail, pale skin that was sprinkled with freckles, and a mop of pastel blue hair, but it was only seen in that one picture, and even then it wasn’t entirely visible or reliable. It could have been edited, despite it being on the site he always used of certified photographs of adventurers. He thought of asking Hoseok what he thought it was since he had been ranting non-stop about the dangers of the ocean, but kept it to himself because it would make Hoseok not want to go even more. He shrugged it off as someone pranking the photographer or even sabotaging the photo, even after he read the photographer’s baffled explanation of what had happened how he couldn’t explain what he saw. He pushed it to the back of his mind and tried not to let it bother him too much. Another two weeks passed, and during that time all four of the explorers got their scuba lessons, their plane tickets, and a boat that they could use; Hoseok has an uncle that lives on the island and offered to take care of them while they stayed on the island as well as taking them out to where they needed to be, even if Hoseok did try to get him to deny them a place to stay so they didn't have to go in the first place. Their trip was two weeks after their scuba lessons came to an end, and Jungkook couldn't be more ecstatic for their trip, staying up all night and sharing his ideas racing through his head with Namjoon and Jin. Their unwillingness to sleep was so bad that Namjoon threatened to cancel the trip; sure, they could all sleep on the plane, but it wouldn't the greatest sleep they could get and would most likely be tired all day, but it was his own fault for encouraging the late conversations. The morning they left, they had their bags packed like they were going to be gone forever, and Jungkook liked it that way. It was his own thrill of these escapades that they go on, to think they would never come back, but he also loved the idea of returning to his comfy bed and safety of his home. The plane ride would be one of the longest they would have to go on since they had become a group, but it would be well worth it, finally stepping out of their comfort zones and doing a case out in the ocean instead of on land where they normally thrive. On the plane, Namjoon got the worst seat of the bunch, his seat was constantly being kicked from behind by a whiny four year old and he was one too many seat kicks in to even fully care once they were in the last 30 minutes of flight. Jungkook offered to switch with him at least twice as he stared at his sleep deprived brother, but Namjoon was as stubborn as a mule, putting up with it through the 10 plus hour flight. The moment they landed and got their stuff Hobi started in on his cowardly screeching about how the flight they had just been on was the worst one by far, although, that was purely his opinion, as everyone else had thought it was an okay flight. The turbulence may have been slightly more extreme than normal, but it really didn't take much to spook Hobi. Hobi’s uncle was in the airport lobby waiting for the four men to come down the stairs. Of course, the man was excited to see his nephew after it had been so many years since he'd last seen him. After a hug between the uncle and nephew, the man introduced himself to the others and started leading them towards the exit so they could get to the house that they would be staying in. However, it wasn’t so much a house, and it was less than impressive in its size, especially because the four of them were all sharing one small room in what Jin considered a peasant hut. The first few hours on the island were spent napping, as the flight had left them all drained and exhausted. It was to be expected that they would feel that way. Jungkook awoke late into the evening, long before anyone else was stirring, and softly padded through the house and went outside to go on a short walk. He ended up walking by a pier, where he sat down on the edge with his feet hanging off, but not quite touching the water. The moonlight cascaded across the water, the sheen reflecting into Jungkook’s eyes. He watched the waves hit the rocks, making soft splashing noises that felt all too calming in this surreal environment. When Jungkook initially went to the pier, he didn't intend on finding anything, but something rather curious appeared before his eyes. He saw a silhouette of a person up on a rock, sitting and bathing in the moonlight. It felt all too much like a feverish dream, as from what he could see, it looked eerily like the mermaid figure from the image he had looked at before the group arrived on the island. The hair on top of their head seemed to glow white in the moonlight, their facial features, from what Jungkook could see, were sharp but also gentle. Jungkook couldn't stop himself from standing up on the pier to get a better look at them. Letting his impulses get the best of him, Jungkook cupped his hands into an O shape and began to shout, “Hello, you over there on the rock! What are you doing out so late?” This shout seemed to get their attention, but instead of replying, they jumped off the rock and dove into the water. Jungkook waited a moment, but they didn't reappear after that. It confused the explorer, but all he could do was start walking back as he shook his head, as he needed to head back before someone else woke up and started to worry that he went missing. Jungkook arrived back at the house when the sun started rising, and the only person up was Hobi’s uncle, who seemed surprised when Jungkook stumbled back into the house looking confused yet amazed. “Where'd you go this early in the morning?” The man asked, pouring himself a cup of coffee. He took a seat on a lopsided chair that creaked under his weight next to an equally slanted tea table. Jungkook laughed quietly. “I, uh, went down to the pier, and it left me with a question.” The man hummed as he took a long drag of his coffee, encouraging Jungkook to continue. “What is it?” “Is it possible, say, that there are mermaids around here? I-I know it sounds crazy, but while we were looking up information about this island, there was this picture that appeared and it looked like, well, a mermaid. I thought a local like you would know more about it than the internet.” Jungkook questioned, twiddling with his thumbs as the man continued to take a sip of his coffee. The man only chuckled at Jungkook's question. “Kid, do you really think mermaids exist? ‘cause if you do, I got some news for you.” “I'm skeptical at best, but lay it on me.” Jungkook said, perking up and every trace of timidness leaving his body as he leaned towards the man. The man made a “come hither” motion with his fingers, telling Jungkook to come in closer. He stepped up to the table and leaned in towards Jungkook, and whispered, “They're not real. Get your head out of the clouds, kid.” Jungkook didn't say anything, grimacing as he fell back into his seat, his face saying everything for him. Hobi’s uncle seemed to feel at least slightly guilty after telling Jungkook that, but he needed to know the truth.
There was an awkward silence for a few moments before Hobi’s uncle spoke again. “We're heading out to sea in a few hours, why don't you go in and wake everyone up so they can get ready to go.” Jungkook nodded. He headed off into the shared room and saw that Jin was already awake, sitting on the edge of the bed attempting to lace up his boots. “Good morning, Jin.” Jungkook said quietly, as to not wake up the others. “I heard your conversation with Hobi's uncle. What did you see that made you think that mermaids exist?” Jin asked, quickly tying his laces as he went to stand up to face Jungkook. “I saw a man, at least I think it was, sitting up on a rock a little ways into the ocean, and I tried saying hi to him and asked him what he was doing, but I think I scared him, so he jumped into the water and didn't resurface like anyone else would have. So, I think I saw a mermaid.” Jungkook rambled on, confusion painted across his face. Jin hummed as he tapped his index finger to his lower lip. “I think you could be onto something, but then again, I believed it when I saw it the picture from a while back. Maybe we'll find out more today.” Jungkook grinned, nodding before he went to wake up Namjoon and Hobi and nag them to start getting ready. It only took an hour for them to prep and pack up food they'd need for the several hour boat trip. Hobi’s uncle drove the boat after Namjoon had given him the coordinates to the approximate area the underwater cemetery was, and it was only then that the group decided who would be diving in and checking out the cemetery. Jungkook and Jin volunteered to go and got prepared as the boat came to a stop. They both slipped into the water with their gear and dived under to be quickly met with the cemetery, but it wasn’t without surprise. Jungkook tried to gasp, but he stopped himself before he could, because the probability of choking was high. Hobi’s uncle was wrong. Mermaids were real. The same one from the photo was right in front of the pair of young men, a black tail calmly swishing back and forth, freckled pale skin crowned with pastel blue hair and all. Jin looked at Jungkook in surprise and they both swam back up. It had been less than five minutes since they’d gone down, and when they surfaced, Namjoon looked surprised when both of them popped back up so quickly, Hoseok panicking and throwing a camera he was holding in his panic. “What’s going on, what happened?” Namjoon asked, rushing to peer over at the two who were still in the water. Jungkook took out his mouth piece to speak to Namjoon. “We saw- we saw a mermaid, Hobi’s uncle lied.” “What the hell are you going on about? You probably saw a fish of all things, now get back down there and look around. We may have all day, but that doesn't mean I want to be out here for that long.” Hobi's uncle shouted from the captain's bay.
Jungkook sighed before looking over to Jin with a saddened look. Jin could only try to comfort the boy with a reassuring smile before they went back under the water. When they went back down, the mermaid they had seen was already gone and all that was left was the ruins of the cemetery, completely open for them to explore.
Jungkook swam to get closer to one of the headstones that had been previously caked with sand and seaweed, but he could make out some of the words on the headstone. Jin was right next to him with their underwater camera taking photos of each thing Jungkook had pointed out, however the photo session had ended rather quickly when the same mermaid from before came between Jin and Jungkook, looking rather upset with the two of them. The boys were taken aback. The mermaid pointed up at the surface and Jin, being the coward he is, swam up as fast as he could. Jungkook hesitated for a moment before the mermaid got fed up with waiting and grabbed Jungkook’s arm, dragging him up to the surface with no remorse.
When Jungkook broke to the surface he looked around and saw that the mermaid from before was in front of them. He was pushing his pastel blue hair back from his face and looked at Jin and Jungkook angrily. They were a short distance away from the boat.
“What are you two doing? You don’t have permission from my leader to touch those!” The mermaid yelled.
Jin and Jungkook looked at each other in shock before Jungkook replied to the angry creature. “You see, we’re explorers. We found this place, and we wanted to solve the mystery as to why it was down there in the first place, please don’t yell at us.”
The mermaid’s expression softened. “Oh… I suppose you’re not from around here, with all the legends and history and all. If you wish, I can bring my leader to you and you may ask permission to continue your search.”
Jin smiled gratefully. “That would be wonderful, uh, whatever your name is.”
The mermaid looked a bit surprised. “I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Yoongi, merprince of the Grand Isles. It’s wonderful to make your acquaintance.”
Jungkook tried not to look shocked. “Well Yoongi, I’m Jungkook, and this is my friend Jin. The rest of my friends are on the boat, they will greet you when you come back with your leader.”
Yoongi nodded and dove back down into the water. Both Jin and Jungkook looked up the boat to see the shocked faces of Namjoon, Hobi, and Hobi’s uncle. They couldn’t believe what had just gone down. It only took a matter of minutes for Namjoon and Hobi to put on their wetsuits and gear to join them in the water, and only a few more for Yoongi to return with his leader. There were a few complications, as his leader had run head first into the boat, thinking that it was a whale he had made friends with.
“Yoongi, how can you trust these people? They travel by whale and you of all people should know why we don’t deal with people who ride whales out into our area.” The leader said, holding his head as he spoke.
Yoongi sighed. “It’s not a whale Tae, it’s what they call a boat. I’m not exactly sure what that is, but it’s not an animal, that’s for sure.”
Jungkook cleared his throat to catch the attention of the two merpeople in front of him. “Uhm, sorry to interrupt, but I just needed to ask you a question.”
The mermaid who hit his head on the boat, who Jungkook assumed was named Tae, whipped around and looked at Jungkook dead in the face. “Oh, yes, what’s your question land prince?”
Jungkook tried not to laugh at being called a “land prince”. “It was brought to my attention that I needed your permission to investigate that cemetery under the water, so if you could please give us the permission to do so, that would be lovely.”
Tae hummed, bobbing up and down in the water. “You may, land prince, but Yoongi must assist you. He knows the area better than I, so I will leave this to you land princes, thank you for asking.”
Yoongi looked shocked. “Taehyung, are you sure? Wouldn’t Jimin be a better fit for this? He’s better with the land people than I am.”
Taehyung sighed. “Jimin is busy dealing with your mother and her hoarding problem, and if you’re not careful, he’ll be helping you with that next.”
“I’m not a hoarder! I just have a shell collection!” Yoongi exclaimed, crossing his arms across his chest.
Jin chuckled at the banter between the two men. “Thank you for allowing us to do this, is there anyway we can repay you for this?”
Taehyung snapped quickly to look at Jin. “Hmm, you are land people, what can you give me in return?” He pondered for a moment before looking at Jungkook, giving him a once-over. “Can I have that shiny thing around your neck, land prince?”
Jungkook looked at his neck. His small gold chain had escaped from inside his wetsuit. Jungkook nodded quickly. “You can have this one, be sure to take care of it.”
He unclasped the necklace from his neck and quickly went to put it on Taehyung. The mermaid looked at it around his neck, overjoyed and quickly hugged Jungkook before diving back down into the water, and Jungkook could only assume he was going back to wherever he lived in the ocean.
Yoongi then sighed and looked at the four men in the water. “If I’m helping, what do you want me to do?”
Jin looked down at the camera. “My tank is almost out, so can you help Jungkook by taking pictures of the things he points at? Do you think you can handle that?”
“What’s a picture?” Yoongi asked dumbfoundedly.
Jungkook felt like it was a silly question, but then he remembered, Yoongi had probably never seen a camera in his life. “You see that thing around Jin’s neck? It takes pictures. Pictures are a snapshot of something you’re seeing in this very moment, and are used for memory or evidence. All you have to do is point the end with the big protruding cylinder at what I point to, and then press the little button on the top right side for the camera to save it.”
Yoongi nodded. “I think I understand. I think I can do that, but why do you need these pictures, can’t you just stay here until you figure it out?”
Hobi shook his head. “No, we can’t stay in the water like you, we have to go back home before the sun sets and it gets dark, so we need these pictures so we can analyze them and come back tomorrow to see if we can find more stuff about the cemetery.”
Yoongi pouted. “What am I supposed to do while you’re gone? I can’t come with you to land.”
Namjoon looked a bit upset. “You have friends you can spend time with, right? We can come find you tomorrow morning when we get back out here, okay?”
Yoongi nodded, his pout still on his face. Jin handed Yoongi the camera and left Jungkook and Yoongi to take the pictures. For Yoongi’s first time with a camera, he didn’t do too bad. They only had to retake a few of the pictures that Yoongi had accidently gotten his finger in, which was impressive to say the least. Jungkook expected to have to retake a bunch more, but at this rate, he had high hopes for Yoongi being their helper.
Before Jungkook and the others got back up on the boat Yoongi stopped them and looked at the four of them with determination in his eyes.
“In return for helping you, may I ask that you teach me land prince things? I would love to know how you do things up there.” Yoongi huffed shyly.
Jungkook smiled. “Of course, Yoongi. We can help with that.”
Yoongi got a slight blush on his face, but the other men couldn’t see it as they were all climbing back up on the boat so they could head back to shore. There was only silence between the men on the boat, mainly because of the heat finally hitting them after being on the boat for so long, the trip back to the pier seeming like it took less time than it took to get out there in the first place. The moment they stepped off the boat, exhaustion hit them all like ton of bricks, whether it was from the jet lag still clinging on to them or because of being on a boat all day, but they were all ready to crash when they stepped into the the house, even if it meant literally piling on top of each other.
The only thing the boys did before deciding to go to bed was eat the meal that Hobi’s uncle had cooked up before stumbling down the hallway to their room. The room echoed with the sounds of snores of four tired men. At first Jungkook couldn’t get comfortable in the dog pile that ended up happening, he got used to the pressure of the bodies on top of him that kept him warm and cozy. Jungkook had wanted to sleep for the rest of eternity, but only after a few hours of sleep he was awoken by something strange. Luckily for him the others had all managed to roll off him and had either ended up beside him or on the ground.
He quickly got out of bed and shuffled his way out of the room and to the hallway. The house was extremely dark, the only light coming from the moon the shone through the windows. That’s when he heard the noise again, this time, more clear. Someone was crying for help. Jungkook ran to the door and slipped on his shoes before bolting outside to find the source of the screaming. He first looked over to the pier, trying to see if it was someone stuck on the sea. But he saw nothing, it wasn’t until he looked over to the small beach that he saw it, or him, as Jungkook recognized the body on the sandy beach and tried to sprint there as fast as he could.
Jungkook didn’t care how much his shoes were kicking up sand, he needed to get to Yoongi, who had somehow got himself beached about halfway up from the water. Jungkook must have gotten to Yoongi just in time, as he looked so happy to see Jungkook running towards him at full speed to save him. Jungkook quickly picked Yoongi up and ran with him in his arms towards the ocean. He let himself get to chest level in the water before letting Yoongi out of his arms to swim on his own.
“Yoongi, what the hell were you thinking, you can’t just go on land like that!” Jungkook shouted.
Yoongi covered his ears over Jungkook’s loud voice. “Don’t shout at me, it hurts my ears. I followed you and your other land friends back here and I thought that maybe if I went on land I would turn human...again.”
Jungkook looked at Yoongi confusedly. “Again? What do you mean again?”
Yoongi huffed. “It’s all sort of hazy, but I remember walking on this beach, but then everything went black and I was in the water, and I had a tail and gills. I’ve been in the ocean since then, but every now and then I get flashes of that day, I remember seeing the cemetery and I hear someone else’s voice there with me, reading some sort of incantation in the language of the sea, but that’s all I remember right now, but I have a feeling that something is going on that has to do with the cemetery and why my memories are all hazy and why I became, well this.”
Jungkook gave Yoongi a baffled look. “Yoongi, you’ve just helped us so much, I’ll explain tomorrow, but I think you just helped link a lot of things that didn’t make sense before.”
Yoongi clapped his hands happily. “I helped!”
“Yes you did, now, you stay here in the water until morning, the others will come down here with me so you can hopefully dig in your memories to figure out more about that day. I need to get back to the house before someone realizes I’m gone again.” Jungkook said.
Yoongi nodded, but quickly looked at Jungkook. “Were you the one who was shouting last night, to get my attention?”
Jungkook slowly nodded. “Let me guess, you were the person on the rock that I saw.”
Yoongi laughed lightly. “Yeah, I was… why don’t you stay here, I’ll protect you from the water and from people who like coming to the beach during the morning.”
“Yoongi, I can’t. I’m all wet and I’ll catch a cold, which isn’t ideal right now.” Jungkook said sadly.
Yoongi huffed and crossed his arms against his chest. “Fine, but can you do one thing before you leave?”
“Sure, what do you want me to do Yoongi?” Jungkook asked.
“Can you boop my nose?” Yoongi asked with slight hesitation.
“Boop your nose? Why?” Jungkook asked.
“I-I just remembered someone booping my nose before I was like this, and thought it would help jumpstart my memories and help more-” Yoongi started.
His words were interrupted by Jungkook lightly touching his finger to Yoongi’s nose and softly pressing on the tip. Yoongi got a slight blush on his face before his face went completely blank and his eyes seemed to unfocus themselves from Jungkook’s face as he fell forward on to Jungkook’s chest. He caught him quickly before he could face plant into the water. There was a slight moment of panic when Yoongi's chin thudded against Jungkook's shoulder and didn't move for a moment, Jungkook could feel Yoongi's tail moving at a surprisingly fast rate, and it made Jungkook worry. He held on to Yoongi's body until he finally rose his head off Jungkook's shoulder and looked him in the eyes.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that, I just had something come back to me and it wasn't expected." Yoongi said, slowly pushing himself off Jungkook.
Jungkook smiled softly. "Don't worry about it, okay? You can tell me everything that you just remembered when I come back later, I promise."
Yoongi finally nodded in agreement before Jungkook trudged his way out of the water. His clothing completely soaked with the salt water and his shoes suctioning themselves to the ocean floor. Yoongi watched sadly as Jungkook walked out of his sight, his figure shrinking and finally disappearing after getting up the steep hill that lead from the road to the beach. Jungkook felt bad about leaving Yoongi down there all by himself, especially after he'd just started helping Jungkook in figuring out how the cemetery had ended up on the ocean floor. The moment he made it back to the house, he saw all the lights on and at least three people looking worried. It was dead silent when Jungkook walked through the door. Jin, Namjoon and Hobi looked at him with relief when they saw him standing in the entrance way. Namjoon had a look in his eye that only Jungkook could understand.
"Namjoon, don't you dare hug me, I'm all wet and smell like sea water." Jungkook sighed.
Namjoon scoffed and looked at Jungkook with a smile. "Fine, but where the fuck did you go?"
"I'll tell you here in a minute, let me at least put on some dry clothes before I spill what the hell is going on here." Jungkook said, holding his arms up defensively.
The three men nodded before Jungkook took off to their shared bedroom so he could throw on a new shirt and a pair of sweats. He looked at himself in the mirror before he could walk out of the room, seeing his skin had been sunburned from the day previous, maybe he should have invested in some stronger sunscreen than he had used yesterday.
Jungkook walked out of the room once more and saw the three men squished on to the small striped sofa, all eagerly awaiting Jungkook to tell them about where he'd just been and why he was all wet. He grabbed one of the dining chairs and sat down in front of them.
Jungkook cleared his throat before he spoke. "So, I was down at the beach. I was only down there because I got woken up by someone screaming for help, and I'm glad I did because Yoongi had somehow made it halfway up the beach and seemed like he was going to die, so I just grabbed him and ran into the water to make sure he was okay, but after I did that he told me something interesting."
Jin looked confused. "What was it?"
"He used to be human. He's trying to remember how he ended up as mermaid, but he said it was all sort of hazy. I told him that he could explain the rest later when we go down there later, since he remembered more after I booped his nose." Jungkook said.
Namjoon laughed. "Why did you boop his nose?"
Jungkook sputtered. "U-uh he-he asked me to."
Hobi moved himself closer to the edge and pointed his finger at Jungkook. "How did he end up all the way up here? That's my question."
"He followed us back, don't worry about it, but the thing is, I think Yoongi is going to be able to help us a lot more than I originally thought." Jungkook said.
"Why do you say that, did he say something that added to our evidence?" Jin asked.
Jungkook nodded. "I should probably let him explain, he'll have all the details."
"Are we going down there now?" Hobi asked.
Jin shrugged. "I don't see why we can't, Yoongi must be lonely down there just waiting for us, don't you think?"
"Why not, let's get shoes on and head down there." Namjoon said.
Jungkook grabbed his second pair of slides that he had conveniently brought with him. The four men walked down the quiet roads until they reached the beach, where Jungkook spotted Yoongi resting his head on a rock near the shore, where his gills were still covered and he could breathe just fine. The four of them approached slowly, letting Jungkook lead the way. He stopped shortly before Yoongi's form, he didn't stir when Jungkook said his name. Yoongi had fallen asleep in the short time of Jungkook going back to the house, changing and coming back. Jungkook squatted down in front of Yoongi's head, softly running his fingers through his pastel locks before saying his name again. This time Yoongi looked up at the smiling Jungkook, who he'd never thought he's be happier to see again so quick.
"Hello land prince Jungkook." Yoongi said, a gummy smile appearing on his face.
"I brought the others with me so you can tell them what you told me, plus tell us what happened just before I left to get them." Jungkook said softly.
Yoongi lifted his head up and mumbled to himself before he looked at the four boys in front of him. "Listen. I'm sure Jungkook already told you I used to be human, but not everything, but as he probably said, I used to be human and I somehow ended up as a mermaid, and all I remember from that day was this lady touching my nose after some incantations in the language of the sea, and then I suddenly had a tail and gills. It all seems to have something to do with the cemetery though."
"I see what you mean now Jungkook. I'll be right back, I'm gonna go grab the pictures we took from yesterday and grab some drinks for us to try to start solving what's going on here, because I have a feeling there's a reason for Yoongi connecting some of this." Namjoon said, turning on his toes to run back towards the house.
In an unexpected turn the others left the Jungkook and Yoongi alone on the beach, which confused Jungkook quite a bit, but Yoongi didn't seem to mind much. Jungkook knew that they would be right back, but he couldn't help but to think that maybe being by himself with Yoongi was a good idea, as the man had taken a liking to him and he was rather okay with it. Jungkook looked down at Yoongi from his still squatting position and softly patted his head, getting the man's attention.
“Yes Jungkook?” Yoongi asked.
“It's nothing I just wanted to pat your head. Your hair feels a lot softer than I thought it would be.” Jungkook said, softly smiling at Yoongi.
A soft blush appeared on Yoongi's face. “H-hey Jungkook, could you uh… maybe do me a favor?”
Jungkook looked surprised. “What could this favor possibly be?”
“You see, I don't remember what a lot from when I was human, and I uh, I want you to kiss me.” Yoongi said, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.
“Kiss you?” Jungkook asked.
“Uh yes, but I get it if you don't want to I get it, I'm part fish and uh-” Yoongi said, but stopped.
Jungkook was leaning in towards Yoongi’s face, their lips centimeters from meeting, just when Yoongi thought he was going to get what he wanted, someone yelling erupted from the entrance of the beach.
“We got all the stuff, we can start figuring everything out now!” Jin exclaimed excitedly as he ran towards both Jungkook and Yoongi.
Yoongi groaned and Jungkook backed away quickly as the others came running back up to the two men. Jungkook sighed and turned his attention to his partners running down the beach and with sand kicking up behind them until they came to a stop in front of them. They spent hours going through their pictures to connect what Yoongi was saying to their current evidence, only to come to a dead end, the only connections that they could make was the missing persons list from the area and the headstones that lied beneath the water, at least until Yoongi had another episode when Namjoon accidentally fell into the water after almost falling asleep after being sleep deprived for the last couple of days.
When Yoongi woke back up he looked panicked and like he was ready to jump out of his skin.
Jungkook looked worried about Yoongi before placing his hand on his back. “Are you okay Yoongi, what'd you remember?”
Yoongi gulped before speaking. “Sea witch, she's the one who kidnapped me and made me like this.”
Jungkook looked at Yoongi in shock before something seemed to switch in the air before them, and it seemed to scare off Yoongi as he plunged himself back into the water, but it seemed to quickly make sense as rain began pouring down from the sky and the four men had to run back to Hobi’s uncle's house to stay safe.
The rain had truly been upsetting for Jungkook, he'd wanted to finish Yoongi’s favor. He wasn't going to lie, in the short amount of time he'd taken a liking to Yoongi, he was a pretty boy and Jungkook quite liked his personality, but it was difficult to go see Yoongi once more, storms had gone through, making things difficult to leave or even say goodbye to Yoongi, but soon enough the sun finally shone through the sky and let the sky become blue instead of the green-grey it had been for weeks now.
The first thing Jungkook did when he saw the skies had cleared and there was no more rain, he sprinted down to the pier to see if Yoongi was anywhere in sight, and he stayed there almost all day, with no success in finding Yoongi, Jungkook knew he probably shouldn't have fallen for a man from the sea. When sunset came Jungkook finally decided to turn back towards Hobi’s uncle's house, feeling dejected and upset.
The street lights illuminated the streets as the sun went down and as he went back towards the house, but something stopped him, there was a shout and the sound of feet hitting the pavement. Jungkook turned around to see someone in the distance, he'd stopped in his tracks and watched as the person stopped in the street light, that shone on him like a spot light. It was Yoongi. Jungkook felt his heart jump to his throat as he ran towards the man in happiness.
Yoongi smiled and opened his arms to let Jungkook hug him, and the impact of the hug nearly knocked Yoongi on to the ground, the smile on both of their faces was enough to say thousands of unsaid words. It was only then that Jungkook pressed his lips into Yoongi’s, their lips molding perfectly to each other. Their kiss seemed to feel like it was going to last forever, but it was truly only seconds.
When Jungkook pulled away from Yoongi, it was only then did he realize that Yoongi was completely nude and that Yoongi had become embarrassed over his lack of clothing.
Jungkook chuckled. “You're cute when you're embarrassed, but let's head up to the house, I'm sure Hobi has some clothes that will fit you.”
Yoongi nodded and smiled. “Thank you, being nude isn't fun when you're trying to find someone in the dark.”
Jungkook laughed in agreement as Yoongi took his hand and they both walked up the roads to Hobi’s uncle's house. It was busy in there as they had finished their research and Jin had started working on an outline for their report for when they got back to Korea, but everything seemed to stop when the two of them walked through the door, and almost as if Hobi could read Jungkook's mind he motioned Yoongi over to him to take him into their cramped bedroom to get him some at least decent fitting clothes. When Yoongi and Hobi stepped back out, Yoongi went right back to Jungkook's side and quickly, clinging to his arm as fast as he could.
Yoongi had helped Jungkook pack up his things and looked sad when he realized that Jungkook would be leaving him on the island, never to be seen again.
“Jungkookie, can I go with you?” Yoongi asked quietly.
Jungkook turned to the man on the floor. “I don't know, do you have a passport to get back to Korea?”
Yoongi shook his head. “I don't know where it is. I was down there for so long that I'm not even sure if I had one.”
Jungkook sighed. “I know you don't wanna stay here, but I may be able to do something, since you were on the missing persons list, I'm sure they can get you back there no problem.”
Yoongi smiled the same gummy smile that Jungkook had quickly fallen for from the moment he saw it.
Returning home was a total 180 from their flight to the island, it was quiet and very little turbulence, but as soon as they returned to the office, called the missing persons line to get Yoongi back to Korea after deciding that he would stay until they got back. The report of what was going on out in the ocean had gone out and reached government officials quickly, who quickly shut down accusations of their report being fictitious and a scam, as they had known of the existence of the creatures before they had discovered them on the island.
It only took a week for Yoongi to return to Korea and to have Jungkook back in his arms. Yoongi had most of his memories back at this point and enjoyed knowing that he wasn't going to have to be retaught everything, which was fortunate as Yoongi wanted to restart his life, but with Jungkook now in the picture, and he liked it that way.

5 O’clock rolled around and everyone began collecting their belongings. I watched as Yoongi fiddled with the zipper on his messenger bag. Maybe he wants to talk to me, explain why he’s behaving so strangely. It’s Min Yoongi, how will I know his intentions for certain? I did know he wasn’t leaving before I was, that was very clear because if he wanted to avoid me he would be the first person out the door. Everyone knows I always lock up… so he has something to say to me.
Hoseok flew past me as a flash of white light, jumping for joy that it was Friday and we were all about to sit down to a delicious meal. Taehyung strolled along behind him, with Jimin in tow who came to retrieve Jungkook from our desk. It really made me happy to see Jimin taking him under his wing as I asked. At least something in this office was going the way I wanted it to; the bromance of my office pal and the new intern. Probably one of the lesser mediating factors in the office, but still it gave off the ambiance I wanted it to.
Namjoon pushed in his chair and swiped his phone from his desk then placed a file on Jin’s desk. I watched as Jin looked at the file, somewhat confused until his eyes scanned over it and he nodded at Namjoon. The rest of the boys who were all ready to go stood by the door, waiting for further instruction. They looked like a flock of sheep, waiting for someone to herd them in the right direction.
“I have to pick up a cheque from administration before we go, so we’ll all meet up in the lobby.” Namjoon called from where he was standing and then he proceeded to the coatrack. Hoseok took that as his queue to open the door and let all the little sheep make their way to their destination.
Seokjin opened one of his cabinets, tucked the file inside and followed along behind the shepherd Namjoon. As he passed by he placed a sticky note on my desk, and gave me his signature reassuring smile.
‘Make up with Yoongi’ it read.
I looked over at Yoongi, who was still packing up his belongings. He looked down at a file, starting to put it in his bag, and then he hesitantly looked at it again and placed it back in a drawer. He was most definitely buying time. It never took him long to get out of the office. He spent so much time here, if he didn’t have to be here, he was gone like Hoseok.
Seokjin was the last person to go, I didn’t know it at the time because I was focusing on Yoongi and the dreaded moment he started toward the door. As soon as he stood up I acted like I wasn’t staring over at him. I compensated by pulling my coat on and swinging my bag over my shoulder. When I turned to face him he had his fingers resting on my desk, they looked like they were ready to itch the wooden surface while the air around him became stale and stiff.
“I’m sorry for how I acted today.” Using his free hand, he fidgeted with the strap on his bag, making no effort to look me in the eye.
“My mind’s been elsewhere all day.” He mumbled, eyes glued to the desk in between us.
“If there’s something bothering you –” I tried to make things less awkward but my maternal instincts always put Yoongi off. He never let anyone comfort him when it was called for.
“It’s not like that.” He cut me off and opened the door for me like his usual gentlemanly self.
After I locked the door I made my last attempt at conversation with him.
“Anyway, let’s have fun tonight.” He nodded and that was the last exchange we had before he got even weirder that night… But let’s save that for when it comes.
The elevator ride was crowded and quiet. The one horrible thing about this company is that there are only two elevators and everyone leaves at the same time. Only a handful of people have a nice ride and those would be the people on the 2nd floor who only have to be on them for 30 seconds tops. Yoongi and I were squished in the middle of the elevator. Our elbows were digging into one another’s. I knew he didn’t enjoy these rides any more than I did so when he grabbed my arm to bring me a little closer, I wasn’t fazed; Especially since that one woman from the third floor just got on… and her perfume could actually choke you if you breathed too much of it in.
When everyone started shuffling out of the elevator, Yoongi held onto my arm tighter, trying not to lose me in the crowd of people but once we were safe and facing the group of bubbling boys who were waiting for us, he quickly let go and slid his hands in his pockets. Taehyung’s box smile could be seen miles away but his deep voice was surprisingly quiet. Most sounds were muted by the rest of the employee’s buzzing around, if it wasn’t rush hour you could probably hear him all the way on the fourth floor.
“I’m riding with Y/n!” Taehyung blurted out. I assumed they were discussing the vehicle arrangements before Yoongi and I came down.
“No, Jimin and I are riding with Y/n…” Jungkook interjected calmly.
“Since when?” Taehyung pursed his lips, hands on hips, eyes darting between Jimin and Jungkook.
“We called dibs on Wednesday, this isn’t negotiable.” Jimin stated, throwing a ‘suck it’ look at Taehyung.
“Will you guys ever learn? Let her decide who she wants to ride with!” Namjoon shook his head; honestly shepherd Joon is the realest comparison I’ve ever made.
“Thank you Joon-ah,” I held onto his arm and ruffled his hair “For that I’m riding with you.” He smiled at me, and led me out of the lobby with our arms linked.
“OK but who do we go with?” Jimin shouted after us.
“Figure it out yourselves!” I waved him off as they watched Namjoon and I make our extravagant exit. If only he would’ve brought the car around earlier, it would’ve been such a sick ass moment.
We walked to the employee parking lot on the left-hand side of the building. Around half of the spots were vacant now because as I said before, everyone is heading home. We dodged many cars on our way to Namjoon’s. The people who work here are very impatient drivers… we almost got clipped a few times. Man, I wish Namjoon would look around at his surroundings more, he’s so observant when he’s not in motion but he has worked here for five years and hasn’t got injured in the parking lot yet, there’s some merit to that.
The boys were quick to make their decision; as soon as I was situated in the passenger seat of Namjoon’s car I saw them descend the large stairs in front of our building. They didn’t have many options to begin with. Only Namjoon, Seokjin and Yoongi drove to work. Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung, Jungkook and I took public transit or walked.
Seokjin, Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook headed toward Jin’s Prius. Seokjin’s gonna have a fun time with those kids. Heading toward the underground parking, Hoseok fell in step beside Yoongi. A nice choice considering Yoongi’s emotional range today.
The sun was blaring down on the black leather seats in Joon’s car. I felt like I was being cooked alive until he turned the AC on. Feeling the cool air hit my face I finally felt relaxed today. I took a deep breath before returning from bliss. I knew Namjoon would want to talk, since he didn’t immediately turn the radio on.
“How was your chat with Yoongi?” Namjoon inquired as we pulled out onto the street. Traffic was insane, we’d be lucky if we made it to the restaurant by 6.
“Short.”
“…But you’re good for now right?”
“I guess,” You sighed. “Jimin told me some crazy news.”
“Yeah what’s that?”
“He said the reason Yoongi is so flighty with me is because he has a crush on me.”
Namjoon grew silent, “You didn’t know that… before.”
“Did you know too!?” I exclaimed, completely baffled.
“I had my suspicions.” Of course he knew, the most observant of the bunch would notice before Jimin.
“Why didn’t you tell me?!”
“It wasn’t my place to tell. I figured he’d tell you eventually or not and if he didn’t it wouldn’t be a big deal because it would affect nothing.” I turned sour in my seat.
“Well, it’s affecting things now.” I mumbled.
“There’s no way I could’ve anticipated that.” He countered.
“I know Namjoon. It’s just lately things around the office are getting a little out of hand.”
“Of course things are becoming difficult. We’ve worked together for three years, something is bound to happen.”
“I just never thought romance would be what gets in the way of our dynamic. I thought for sure one of you would accidentally die and that would put a wedge between us.” Namjoon chuckled.
“That’s another high possibility of what could happen, music?”
“Huh? yeah, sure.”
“You know, no matter what happens. Even if we all get fired and you’re the only one left, none of us will blame you and none of us will resent you – your life is the galaxy and we’re all your stars.”
The hushed melody coming from the speakers, cool air, setting sun, the miles of street ahead and Namjoon’s beautiful words… those were enough to make today ok.
“Thanks Joon.”
Namjoon pulled into a parking spot right outside the restaurant. Another car pulled out seconds before we passed by, the timing was incredible I was actually screaming in my seat and Namjoon laughed at me as he maneuvered into the spot.
“I can’t believe we got a spot so close! On a Friday night!” I was howling.
“It seems I’ve got some luck.” Namjoon said, nonchalant as hell.
“Shall we wait until the others get here?”
“Probably, who knows how long they’ll take in the traffic.” Namjoon took off his seatbelt and put his seat back, “Make yourself comfortable.” He continued, stretching his arms over his head then folding them across his chest.
“I’m going to text them.” My resolve to waiting was a more straightforward approach to which Namjoon grunted in approval. He’s gonna get in a little nap before everyone else gets here, got to get your beauty rest for a night of drinking with the co-workers. Originally it was dinner with the co-workers but that changes within’ 5 minutes of sitting down.
[5:33] Y/n: Hey, how close are you guys?
[5:33] Hoseok: 5 minutes I think, where are you guys?
[5:34] Y/n: We just got here, waiting for everyone. I’m about to text Jimin.
[5:35] Hoseok: Ok, keep me posted.
“Hoseok and Yoongi are almost here.” I decided to inform Namjoon even though I could hear his heavy breathing. He let out a soft grunt in comparison to the last. Thanks Joon, you keep such good company.
[5:35] Y/n: Hey Chim~ how close are you guys??
[5:36] Jimin: Heyy Y/n~ it took Taehyung a while to get settled in the car so we’re maybe ten minutes away.. It looks like traffic’s rough up ahead tho
[5:37] Y/n: What do you mean….
[5:37] Jimin: He couldn’t decide if he should sit beside me or Seokjin. He chose Seokjin…
[5:38] Y/n: ..and how does that make you feel?
[5:38] Jimin: Cheated.
[5:38] Hoseok: Y/n!!!! We’re here! Meet us outside!
[5:39] Y/n: Lol that sucks! Hoseok and Yoongi are here, we’ll meet you inside.
“Namjoon it’s time to go.” I gently nudged his shoulder.
“Mmmm” He was out like a light.
“Namjoon!” I gave him a good shove this time.
“wHAt is iT?” He jolted upright looking quite dazed.
I rubbed his shoulder trying to calm his shaken nerves, “We’re going to go inside now.” I spoke at a snail’s pace so his tired mind could absorb it.
“Let’s go!” He reluctantly stumbled out of his car and followed me to the entrance of the restaurant, when Yoongi and Hoseok approached.
“Who’s idea was Sushi?” Yoongi would rather eat something else apparently.
“I think it was Seokjin-hyungs.” Hoseok replied.
“Who let him pick?” Yoongi further inquired.
“He said this place is really great, you’ll like it Yoongi.” Namjoon said, diffusing any potentially problematic situation as expected.
“Next time, I’m putting forth a different suggestion. This place is packed!” Yoongi’s mouth was agape. Hoseok must’ve done something to change his mood, he wasn’t being all weird and reserved around me like he has been all day.
“If it’s packed that must mean the foods good.” I piped up and Yoongi actually smiled at me.
“That’s one way to look at it.” He mumbled, a soft blush on his cheeks.
“Table for eight. We have reservations.” Namjoon chatted with the hostess behind the front podium.
“He made reservations?” I whirled on my heel facing the two boys behind me.
“Yeah everyone was really excited you could make it, so Jin-hyung reserved a table.” Hoseok seemed as if this was to be expected.
“And you said we need to make a good impression on the new intern.” Yoongi added.
“Follow me.” The hostess chimed, tossing her short black hair over her shoulder and strutting off around the corner.
And so we followed her in behind shepherd Namjoon. The place really was packed. Only one table was left empty which judging by the size was ours. I didn’t know that Korean Sushi fusion restaurants were this busy on Friday nights. Logically speaking most restaurants are full on Friday nights.
When we got to the table Yoongi sat down at the head and I sat to his left. Hoseok sat on the other side of Yoongi and Namjoon beside Hoseok. One minute later Jimin texted me…
[5:45] Jimin: We’re here!!!!!!
“So the other guys just got here.” I announced. Seconds later the boys burst through the doors, Taehyung in the lead with Seokjin taking up the rear. They completely breezed by the front podium confusing the hell out of the hostess. I watched as Jin said something to her while bowing his head slightly and her features lightened.
“Eyyyy, we made it!” Taehyung exclaimed, pushing back the chair beside me and taking a seat. Great. I’m sitting in between Taehyung and Yoongi… this is what I wanted.
The rest of the boys filed into their seats. Jimin beside Tae, Jungkook at the end and Seokjin beside Namjoon.
“Man I wish we went to a barbeque restaurant… I’ve been craving lamb for weeks.” Yoongi had to let everybody know he would rather be somewhere else. I’m not entirely sure if this was a jab at Seokjin after he sat down or not… but it’s possible, he is the reason we’re at this restaurant.
“Me too!” Jungkook had yet to break the ice with Yoongi. He was too shy to strike up a conversation but this, this was an amazing start.
“You like lamb skewers?”
“Like? I love them.”
“Nice, I should take you out sometime.” Me and Namjoon made eye contact and tried to stifle our laughter but Namjoon couldn’t hold it in. He started trembling until he unhinged his mouth and made this really weird sound. That noise made Jimin giggle and I had to look up at the ceiling or else Yoongi would’ve seen my red face. If I looked to my left at those laughing fools I would’ve burst out, tears would’ve sprung.
“Did you just ask Jungkook out?” Hoseok, registering what just happened looked at Yoongi in complete and utter shock.
“Yeah, for some man-meat!” … Yoongi is enthusiastic about his meat, so much so that he didn’t think when he spoke about any topic related to meat.
“Yoongi-hyung, stop talking!” Jimin couldn’t take all the fake flirting. His head almost fell in Tae’s lap. He was laughing so hard. When Jimin laughs, he leans, and sometimes falls right out of his chair. His crinkly eye smile accompanies his angelic giggles. If he wasn’t super smug most of the time I’d find him charming, but I can only look at his fluffy side as attractive.
“What?” Yoongi looked around at the whole table. Everyone on the verge of exploding.
“Ok Jungkook. Let’s hear about your hobbies.” Hoseok now turning the attention to Jungkook.
“Hobbies that will burn and die once he accepts a position in the corporate world.” Yoongi whispered under his breath, only I could hear him and I chose not to say anything to that.
“I have lots of hobbies… I don’t know where I should begin.” Intern says what?
“I just realized Jungkook knows nothing about us. We should all introduce ourselves.” I had to suggest this, ease us all into conversation.
“We’re not in the second grade Y/n.” Taehyung threw some shade my way but thank god Jimin’s always got my back.
“Oh who cares, my name is Jimin, I like to draw sometimes and I do my mom’s taxes.”
“Wait… hold off on the introductions, let’s order some soju!” Yoongi called over the waitress, he was paying after all so he did the ordering of the beverages.
Yoongi doesn’t kid around when it comes to drinking, it’s go big or go home, but that’s applicable to his other characteristics too. He asked for 10 bottles, one for everyone, and a few extra were placed in the middle of the table… which I think he snatched later.
After Jimin introduced himself and everyone had a glass of soju, we went around the table saying a few stupid things about ourselves. The tone had transformed our shy intern boy into kind of a brat. He became cockier, with each word that slipped out of his mouth.
“Taehyung, let’s hear something from you.” I prodded, giving him a little poke in his side.
“I don’t need to say anything, he’ll learn more about me later on.”
“Ok! I’ll introduce Taehyung.” Yoongi interjected before I could argue with Tae. He slammed down his empty glass requesting that Namjoon poor him some more.
“His name is Taehyung, he is stubborn. Now Y/n, it’s your turn.” Taehyung puckered up his lips and crossed his arms, leaning back and accepting his shitty introduction Yoongi gave him. Jimin giggled a bit at Taehyung’s reaction causing him to receive a little brotherly love; in the form of a smack across his head.
“My name is L/n F/n, and I’m your receptionist. I also like to sleep.” They all sat extremely quiet and focused on me.
“That’s it?” Namjoon sitting directly across from me gave me the best let down look he was capable of. He wanted some juicier tidbits.
“I hear Y/n is obsessed with dramas.”
‘Taehyung-ah!” I yelled, whipping my head around, strands of hair whacking him in the face and he’s looking like that Shiba Inu meme (You know the one, where it gets hit in the lower jaw with a Frisbee).
“There’s no shame in that. We all know Jin’s a closest drama nerd.” Hoseok attempted to make me feel less trashy.
Jin looked around at all of our faces to see completely unaltered expressions. He tilted his head toward Hoseok, “How did you know that?”
“You play the descendants of the sun OST too loudly some days…” Exposed by Park lowkey-sings-along Jimin.
“Why didn’t you tell me my earbuds were leaking!”
“Well, you’re really efficient when you listen to music. Why would I take that away from you?” Namjoon swoops in praising his work.
“My name, is Min Yoongi!” While Namjoon and Seokjin bickered for a minute Yoongi took the spotlight.
“I am very good at my job and on my days off I like to enjoy a good meal and some music programs.”
All of the other boys nodded, as if this news was somewhat predictable. Very mundane Yoongi activities. I want to know more, I have a feeling he has other things to do on his days off that aren’t so mundane.
“My name is Jung Hoseokie!” Hobi giggled, already intoxicated, whether it was the happy atmosphere or the drink in his hand. “I collect bear bricks and dance.” Jungkook shocked by this information, let out an ‘Ahhhhh!’
“I know, I’m a cool guy.” He smirked, bubbling up into a cheesy laugh.
“I bet you didn’t think he had any other talents besides how to show up just on time.” Yoongi slammed his pal.
Jungkook nodded, he did think Hoseok was lackluster and compensated by having the energy of an elementary school student.
The waitress returned to take all of our orders putting the little introduction session on hold. I’m a huge fan of Korean spices and having that paired with sushi was such a blessing. I ordered some seaweed wrapped rolls and handed my menu back to the waitress. I heard Yoongi order some typical Korean foods instead of sushi while the rest of the boys were eager to put their faith in Jin and try something new.
“Where did we leave off?” Jimin asked, looking at the boys on the other side of the table.
“I think we made it to Namjoon.” I replied, and then all eyes were on him.
“I’m your team-leader Namjoon, I spend my time outside of work reading, and most recently I’ve taken up DJ-ing.”
Gasps arose from the younger boys and Hoseok. Yoongi remained unchanged, and Seokjin’s chin dropped down. I too held a similar expression to Seokjin.
“Joon-ah that’s so cool!” Yoongi enthusiastically pulled his seat closer to the table. Things were getting WiLD.
“Oooh it’s Jin-hyung’s turn!” Hoseok giggled, ready to hear about his hobbies and interests, or anymore secret information he could possibly drop.
“There’s not much to say. I like to cook, and you already know I watch a lot of dramas in my spare time.”
“Not going to lie hyung, I was expecting more from you.” Hoseok over dramatically sighed while throwin’ a little shade at his hyung.
“Who cares about me? We need to learn more about our Jungkook!”
“Yes! Let’s move on to Jungkook!” It seemed now that Hoseok was running this conversation, or narrating it at the very least. He was so full of energy with only a few sips of soju.
Jungkook looked like a deer caught in headlights, startled, unsure of what to do or say.
“What do you do in your free time Jungkook?” I had to give the boy a push in the right direction, even though it wasn’t a big help. He still looked like he was freaking out inside.
“Sometimes I sing. My mom says I’m an amazing singer.”
“Doesn’t every mom say that about their child?” Hoseok laughed.
“Yeah but I’ve won some awards for it.”
“How many?” Seokjin asked, aiming to help Jungkook’s case.
“Around ten.”
“Wahh, he must be good then.” Taehyung’s eyes bulged when he heard the number.
“I also bowl a lot; my dad was a good bowler so as a kid I spent a good chunk of time at the bowling alley. Now I go with my friends who are also interested.” That’s so cute! What the hell this kid’s adora-bowl.
“I like to go to the gym too. I like all sorts of sports and exercises, lately –”
Jungkook was cut off as they began bringing out our food. We were quite surprised it came so fast considering how busy they were but Seokjin did say they have excellent service here. Yoongi had the only hot dish, his food brought up such a smoke that the rest of us could hardly see. He ate while barely looking at what he was eating, but at least he was enjoying his meal and not complaining.
“So… Seokjin-hyung,” Jimin plopped his arms on the table revealing a devilish smile. “I’ll give you ten dollars to eat that whole dish of wasabi.” He challenged his hyung upon seeing the wasabi that came with Jin’s meal.
“Make it $20 and you’ve got a deal.” Seokjin folded his arms and leaned across the table mimicking Jimin’s sultry behaviour. Jimin pretended he was deep in thought about the price proposition but we all know he’s going to go with the extra $10, it’s worth it.
“That’s kind of dangerous don’t you think?” Namjoon whispered to Seokjin, thinking if he got up close and personal, this poor man wouldn’t feel pressured into killing himself with Wasabi.
“dON’T INTERFER! I wanna see this!” Taehyung swatted Namjoon away from Seokjin’s ear.
“Ok, $20 is good.” Jimin’s smug smile remained on his face as he viewed the anxious Seokjin take his first stride toward his prize money.
Everyone held their breath as Seokjin’s nimble fingers seized the dish, slicing through the silent air on its way to his luscious lips. Yoongi was almost standing on the table he was that close. Everyone had sloped toward Jin. Namjoon and I exchanging looks of worry.
It happened. He tossed his head back, the wasabi cascading from the dish into his mouth. Jungkook couldn’t believe it.
“OH MAN HOLY SHIT!” He squawked from his seat. Jin started to laugh and then commenced the most dramatic choking of the year followed by the frantic fanning of his mouth.
“Somebody get that boy some water!” A woman at a nearby table yelled out causing the majority of the patrons to stare at Jin.
“How about some Soju?” Drunken Yoongi suggested.
I grabbed the pitcher of water off the table and poured him a glass at lightning speed, the water slopping all over the table.
We finished the remainder of our meals in peace. The condiments were a tiny bit moist but we soldiered through. We chatted mainly about Jungkook and his bowling career. Seokjin getting out as many dad jokes as possible. Yoongi suggested some game similar to beer pong which the majority declined politely while Taehyung was a little bitch about it. ‘No hyung, I have Pilates in the morning.’
Alas, the night wound down and all of the boys were getting grumpy and tired. I think we all knew it was time to call it a night. Seokjin’s mouth still burned, and I imagined it would for a long time. The clock said it was 1:58AM. I caught Jungkook yawning as his eyes darted in slow motion between the clock and Seokjin, waiting to be told to go home by someone. Yoongi was fucking plastered so someone was going to have to drive him home. I was hoping it wouldn’t be Seokjin, because he was my ride; since Jin lives closest to me (and is the only boy out of all 7 I would trust knowing my address). I excused myself and headed toward the bathroom.
I turned the tap on again after I already wiped my hands dry. I didn’t want to go back out there. The mood was dropping fast. I splashed some cold water on my cheeks, hoping to cool down some. It felt as if all the blood in my body was rushing to my face trying to escape after I laughed so much, and cursed a lot. I felt extremely drained and just a smidgen intoxicated. Everyone was in high spirits tonight but for some of them it felt like a façade. I knew Yoongi was acting suspiciously out of character and after such a long work week, Jimin was becoming a bit more of an ass. This is why we don’t socialize with them on the weekend’s Y/n… please, remember this lesson.
The water continued to run, swirling around in the basin before disappearing down the drain. A few minutes passed then an employee barged in with a mop bucket. This was probably a good time to head back out. Could you imagine if I just stood there, with the water running and this woman trying to mop around me? That would be horrendous. And If I’m honest I debated it because these last few minutes have been some of the best this whole week. That sounds overly dramatic, but it’s true. It’s been a hard seven days.
I gathered up all the energy I had left and pushed open the bathroom door. The change in lighting and the hand pulling me into the corner… they came out of nowhere. It took a second for my vision to readjust. I first recognized his adorable little nose mole. I’d never seen it so up close and personal. But that wasn’t what we were supposed to be focusing on. My eyes flickered up to his deep brown orbs that were glassy yet still fixated on mine.
Taehyung?

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of eating a sauce made by me (Stefan) then you’ve probably said “holy shit, this is the best sauce I’ve ever tasted.” And then I probably said “I’ll send you the recipe, it’s so easy!” But then I never sent the recipe, not because I don’t want to share, but because I am lazy. Also, just about every time I make sauce, I do it a little differently, so it’s tough to write a recipe for a thing I never make the same way twice. Now you might already be sick of me bragging about my sauce, but ask anyone who has had my sauce - it’s fuckin good, and not like any sauce out there.  My own mother even said it’s the best sauce she’s ever tasted (for real, I’ll forward you the email if you want proof) and if that doesn’t say it all, well then come over, it’ll be my pleasure to make some sauce for us (seriously, I love to make sauce for people).
This recipe is more a basic, boiler plate tomato sauce, good for pasta, pizza, lasagna, zoopy (just bread dipped in sauce aka the best meal invented). A good jumping off point, which you can transform into your own brand of sauce. So here we go, gonna get SAUCED.
Tumblr media
Che bellissimi pomodorini!!!
A lotta markets will sell over-ripe produce for pennies. We got 3 pounds of ripe tomatoes for less than $3 at Market Basket. Ripe means soft (not squishy) to the touch. Now, a lot of people have never made a sauce from scratch, and understandably so - it takes time, which is hard to come by, society being broken and all, but trust me, a little patience and elbow grease will all be worth it when you’re sitting down to a bowl of pasta topped with your nice fresh homemade tomato SAUCE. But if you wanna just use a couple big cans (heh) of crushed tomatoes, by all means, it is a very easy substitute which yields practically identical sauce. But just try making it from scratch once, it’s a nice exercise in patience. So STEP 1: BOIL TOMATOES (what?)
youtube
So you can peel em!!!
Bring a pot of water to a boil, and add your tomatoes. The riper the tomato, the quicker they pop - some will pop as soon as you put them in, but some take a little more, in which case you can STAB IT.
youtube
Just a little poke and the skin should pop.
Anyway, as they pop, put them in a bowl or strainer in the sink. Then run them under cold water for about a minute, just to cool them off so you can handle them. Then peel em and throw away the peels. You could probably use the peels for compost or whatever, but I’m not a friggin gardener.
Tumblr media
*blushes*
So you got a bowl of peeled tomatoes- great. Now you can chop them or dice them on a cutting board, but that turns into a tomato guts massacre real fast, so what I do is just use kitchen shears and cut em up in the bowl.
youtube
bada bing-boom
You get the picture, chop em up until you won’t have any huge chunks, or leave huge chunks if you like a chunky sauce. We’re going to cook this in the oven for a couple hours, so it cooks down anyway. Speaking of which, LET’S START COOKING THE GODDAMN SAUCE ALREADY.
Tumblr media
Fry up a medium sized yellow or sweet onion, sliced thinly, in olive oil over medium heat (add some butter if you want some sexual caramelization). Add some salt & pepper, red pepper flakes, thyme, oregano and FENNEL SEEDS. After about 7-10 minutes, add some GARLIC (obviously).
Tumblr media
About 5-200 cloves of garlic should do, diced. I’ll even add a couple whole cloves after I add the tomatoes, so you get some nice roasted garlic action too. Add some more of those seasonings I mentioned above, just a touch of each though. Let simmer for about 5 minutes - garlic cooks very fast. Now, we add the tomatoes that we so painstakingly boiled, peeled and chopped.
youtube
In case you don’t know what it looks like to put stuff in a thing.
Then all you do is season again - salt, pepper, thyme, oregano, red pepper flakes, FENNEL SEEDS - I keep capitalizing FENNEL SEEDS because they are sauce’s best friend. You might’ve thought basil or olive oil, but no, those are sauce’s sister wives. FENNEL SEEDS are like sauce’s sexy dance instructor who comes over to take sexy baths together. Sexy sauce baths ;)
But anyway, throw in some nice fresh chopped basil, put the lid on the pot, and throw it in the oven at 350° for about an hour. Then take it out, take the lid off, give it a nice stir, then back in for another hour or so. Bing bang, sauce ahoy. Now for some reason sauce always greatly benefits from a night in the fridge. It’s delicious out of the oven, but something real sensual happens with a good night of rest in the fridge. You’ll see. Just trust me. Try some when it’s out of the oven, then try some the next day. Here’s the recipe in plain English.
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350°
2 cans of crushed tomatoes of 3 lbs of fresh plum or traditional tomatoes, peeled
1 medium Vidalia or yellow onion, chopped
5-6 garlic cloves, diced
2-3 tbs each of dried thyme, oregano and red pepper flakes
4-5 tbs fennel seeds
1 ½ cups fresh chopped basil
1 cup olive oil
a pinch of salt with each addition to the pot
cracked pepper until your wrist hurts
Chop and brown the onion with salt and pepper in olive oil over medium-low heat – 7-10 min
Add diced garlic cloves and stir – 3-5 minutes
***For a nice pot of chicken cacciatore-ish sauce, add about a pound of boneless chicken thighs before the tomatoes and brown them. You can use white meat too, but dark meat just tastes better***
Add tomatoes, then salt, pepper, season and stir, bring to a simmer – 5-10 min
Add fresh basil, stir - 2 seconds
Put LID ON pot, put in oven – 60 minutes (check after 30 min to make sure heat is appropriate)
Take LID OFF, put back in oven – 60-90 minutes, stir every 25-30 minutes
Total cooking time shouldn’t be more than 2 hours and 45 minutes, though a little more than 2 hours usually does the trick,
I’m glad we could spend this time together. Let me know how your sauce goes - if it’s not the best sauce you’ve ever eaten, let me know. I’ll have you over for sauce because you deserve the best sauce in the world. It’s for your own sauce- I mean good.

A new year, a whole new set of Asian dramas to look forward to!  Welcome to the first WWW of 2017!  We have some good kdramas; some weird cdramas mixed with good cdramas; half the time I don't even know with twdramas because sometimes I think, "Oooh, this sounds cool," and the rest of the time I think, "WHO WOULD WATCH THAT IT SOUNDS DEADLY DULL," but we have a couple for you to check out; aaaand no HKdramas. KOREAN: ~ Fireman AKA 'Naked Fireman' Empress: I'm dying...I just cannot understand...I...what...*cracks up again* Ambassador: City Hunter's gloriously tragic prosecutor LEE JOON HYUK, and since it's SK the modeling storyline can't be TOO BAD and I can look past the title- I'm interested enough to watch it... but I'm still cackling. Unni: -- ~ Chief Kim Empress: ....Nam Goong Min makes me a little curious...but not curious enough to watch it at the moment. Ambassador: Nam Goong Min and Nam Sang Mi sounds like an interesting combo.  The writer wrote Blood and God's Quiz- which I liked but wasn't terribly compelling- so given that + what this plot is so far, naaaah.  Far too many 2016 dramas for me to catch up on first.  The director did Page Turner, Empress. Unni: -- ~ Missing 9 Empress: Kang Ha Neul had me curious....Jung Kyung Ho Had me also curious but in a totally different way because he didn't seem like he'd fit the original story...then I found out the writer of Bad Guys was involved and it had possibly switched from comedy to thriller - I am absolutely going to check it out, and see if anything good manages to come from the mess that was this drama's making.   Ambassador: Nooooot really.  I was interested when it was called Picnic and was going to be a kpop band on a desert island- because I adore Swiss Family Robinson stories.  Then when it was renamed Gaia but the same plot and also KANG HA NEUL, I was definitely intrigued but I'm not any longer.  I'll check it out if the buzz is good but otherwise I'll focus on finishing my backlogged 2016 dramas. Unni: -- ~ Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People AKA Rebel Hong Gil Dong Empress: I have been forever meaning to watch one of the many Hong Gil Dong stories...this might be finally the one I watch. I was actually less interested in it when Ji Sung was considering it, but now that he's safely in Defendent where I wanted him, I can be excited for this one again. XD Ambassador: YESSSSS.  I'VE BEEN KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON THIS DRAMA AND CAN'T WAIT.  YOON KYUN SANG AS HONG GIL DONG AND KIM SANG JOONG AS HIS FATHER. Unni: -- ~ Defendant Empress: hahahahah YES. I haven't managed to get through Entertainment yet...Ji Sung was horrendously miscast in that...but I am still in awe of him from Kill Me, Heal Me.   Ambassador: Ji Sung, Yuri, and Kim Min Suk in a prison break thriller.  ABSOLUTELY WATCHING IT.  Ji Sung is going to kill this role, I can already feel it. Unni: -- ~ Saimdang, Light's Diary Empress: I'm curious...time travel dramas either seem to be REALLY GOOD or really NOT (Queen In Hyun's Man is one of my favorite romances; Signal one of my favorite dramas...Moon Lovers...well...) so I might check it out if I can. Ambassador: After I get done fuming that this drama apparently gets 30 episodes and SCARLET HEART RYEO ONLY GOT 20 then yes, I'll probably check it out at some point, but it's not at the top of my list.  Kim Mi Kyung is in it, and she tends to pick great roles (Ahjumma or Lady Kim, anyone?). Unni: -- ~ Voice Empress: I have been liking the teaser trailers, and enjoyed a lot of the OCN dramas I've seen. AUGH, I'm still overwhelmed with 2016 dramas, and wanting to watch all of these does not bode well for my 2017 list... Ambassador: It looks pretty intriguing, OCN usually has good dramas and this is Jang Hyuk + Yesung and Baek Sung Hyun as secondary/minor characters so it's definitely going on my list.  The idea of tracking a person by voice alone is fascinating.  Multiple times I've recognized an actor in a drama by their voice more than their face so I'm really interested in this one. Unni: -- ~ Introvert Boss Empress: This is an odd drama that I've somehow managed to see mentioned in so many places I felt like it was already airing. Ambassador: Introvert vs Extrovert in a work place sounds hilarious but it's not something I immediately jump for.  Maybe at some point. Unni: -- ~ Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon Empress: ...I am literally watching Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, which is adorable and has me howling but which I can't picture being repeated with Park Bo Young. WHY do dramas come in groups like this? I like Weightlifting Fairy just fine, and don't feel like watching another version.   Ambassador: This one comes out at the end of the month or early next month and as a result there is little info on it yet but it sounds...odd?  *scratches it off list* Unni: -- ~ Justice Team Empress: Not much there, but 4 episode minidramas are nice to have around. (MINUS NUDE FIREMAN MODELS MAKES THEM EVEN NICER.) Ambassador: Messed up synopsis but enough to persuade me to try 4 episodes and Lee Joon Hyuk again apparently.  I'm glad he finished his weekend makjang drama so he is taking on other projects now.  HUZZAH. Unni: -- CHINESE: ~ Pretty Li Hui Zhen Empress:  *CRINGES* AHem. We're gonna finish SWP. But no way am I touching a Chinese version with a ten foot pole. Siwon was the only redeeming feature. XD Ambassador: HEH, China's She Was Pretty.  Well, since the Empress and I still have to finish watching SWP together and since we spend most of our time watching it yelling annoyance at everyone except for Siwon's character, NO.  I'm not sitting through the Chinese version.  There is only so much stupidity the human brain can handle before going insane or shutting down.  At least I now know how to torture some certain kinds of people... 'sit down and watch all 16 hours of this right now'.  (Obviously this does not apply to those who would like the drama.) Unni: -- ~ The General and I Empress: XD It could be describing any number of cdramas. I am intrigued by it (and the other any number)...but I am also buried under a mountain of kdrama... Ambassador: The plot sounds pretty cdrama typical but I have a weakness for this kind of plot- especially when one is a prince-general and another is a strategist.  There are a lot of names I know in this one: Angelababy, Madina Memet, Sun Yi Zhou, Wallace Chung.  There's been a lot of buzz around it online.  *adds it to list* Unni: -- ~ Magic Star Empress: This sounds like a video game...did I mention my impending suffocation by kdramas? Ambassador: The plot sounds pretty standard wuxia.  I'd be more likely to check it out for the actors than the plot: the detestable villain and fun third lead from Tornado Girl/Whirlwind Girl 2... but still, it's not very likely you'll find me watching this one. Unni: -- ~ Love, Life, & Lie Empress: Whatever happened to Live, Love, Laugh...I am not intrigued.   Ambassador: Ehhhh, too much standard rom com fare for me. Unni: -- ~ Xun Zhao Qian Shi Zhi Lu Empress: Okay, more intriguing..though I think I'd like to repeat what I said earlier about Time Travel...and maybe wait and see if the Ambassador ever gets around to it and what she thinks. XD Ambassador: This though, makes my ears perk up.  Time travel mixed with a backstory mystery?  *adds it to end of list* Unni: -- ~ Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossom Empress: Okay, based on a novel...a weird title that I actually completely love, unlike most "different" titles...it feels a bit melodrama, but sometimes I'm very much in the mood for that.   Ambassador: I've been planning to watch this one for a long time.  The title is beautiful, I've heard good things about the novel and now the drama plot, plus it stars Yang Mi, Mark Chao and Dilireba Dimurat.  Count me in! Unni: -- ~ The Chronicles of a Town Called Jian Empress: This reminds me of The Devi/Mawang, which is a drama I am positive I will like, once I get through the first 2 episodes. (Right up there with Heartless City and My Beautiful Bride and Bad Guys.) If this is a Chinese version of that, I am intrigued. If it's tarot cards and supernatural happenings...nope. Ambassador: Hmmm, it depends.  Generally I avoid anything with the use of tarot cards, but Asia tends to do that kind of thing differently, and the plot is just interesting enough that I might check it out.  Victoria, Yang Yang and Jiang Jin Fu star, and all three are good actors. Unni: -- TAIWAN ~ Close Your Eyes Before It's Dark Empress: I...haven't actually ever watched anything Taiwanese not a rom-com...well, I guess MARS was a little more on the dramatic/suspense side - and it creeped me right out a few times...so, while this is 7 episodes long and sounds exactly up my alley as far as dark, suspenseful, psychologically intriguing dramas go...I'm going to start it warily. XD Ambassador: Sounds like a mix of one episode of Vampire Detective and White Christmas.  *sticks it firmly on list* Unni: -- ~ The X Family 2 Empress: As is...nope.   Ambassador: *squints at it*  Whatever a Fenglongtie is, I think I want one to put on my brothers.  That said, I didn't see any of the other 6-8 dramas in the series and I won't be watching this one. Empress: *dying* yeah, maybe if we could get a few Fenglongties, I'd watch it. Unni: -- Empress: Cheers to wherever BHB goes in the next year! Ambassador: Hear hear, and we look forward to bringing you more reviews, WWWs, and other posts about the wonderful world of Asian drama! HAPPY 2017!!
