Happy Halloween everyone!! Here is some type of no upside down AU fic :)
Eddie drums his hands on the cafeteria table and looks around at his friends. "Alright gentlemen, what are we doing for Halloween?"
He instantly gets a sense that something is off when Jeff and Gareth exchange a guilty look. Eddie leans forward and props his chin up on his hand. "Want to share with the class?"
Gareth sighs and looks at the table for a moment before bursting out, "Well, my sister and Jeff's brother really wanted to go out trick-or-treating this year, and you know how they've gotten close. And the deal was that either Jeff and I would stay at our houses manning the candy bowl, or we would go out with the kids."
Eddie huffs out, "And let me guess, you chose free candy, torturous walking, and a cutesy group costume."
Jeff smiles guiltily. "You're looking at Shaggy and Scooby-Doo."
"Adorable," Eddie says with a big fake smile before turning to Frank. "You're not leaving me high and dry though, isn't that right, Frank?"
Only, Frank seems to be just as guilty-looking as the others.
"Frank... Don't do this to me, man," Eddie pleads.
Frank sighs, "I told my mom I would do a Halloween horror movie night with her. Sorry, Eddie."
Eddie looks between all his friends, wondering if they're pulling a prank on him and fulfilling the trick part of trick-or-treat. But he slowly realizes that they're not. "Shit," he whispers, "I guess I needed to book you guys early," Eddie jokes, trying not to feel too let down.
Jeff pats his hand and says, "Hey, you can come with us. We need a bad guy in a mask."
Eddie scrunches up his nose. "Willingly walking miles and dealing with kids on an endless sugar high? No thanks. But... I appreciate the thought." He sits back and picks up a few of his pretzels before dropping them back in the bag. What is he going to do? He has always loved Halloween, his friends know this. But what's the point in celebrating if he's alone?
"You could go to Harrington's infamous ball," Frank suggests. Gareth and Jeff immediately start laughing loudly. Eddie just glares at Frank, but he doesn't seem to be joking as he defends himself, "I'm not kidding! Come on, free beer and witnessing a bunch of shit drama."
Eddie snorts. "Yeah, because I would be so welcomed there."
"It's not like people will really notice. I hear his place is jam-packed with random people every year. Plus, you could wear your bat masquerade mask," Jeff interjects.
Eddie sighs and puts his head in his hands. "You're not seriously trying to convince me to go, right?"
"I mean... we're not not trying to convince you," Gareth supplies unhelpfully. There's an oof sound that Eddie's sure is the result of Jeff elbowing him in the side. "But seriously, you can wear the mask so no one will recognize you and your slutty vampire outfit-"
"It's not slutty."
"It has a tight leather lace-up vest, it's a little slutty," Jeff stage whispers to Eddie.
Eddie groans and dramatically thuds his head down on the table before quickly looking up. "Let me get this right. You want me to go to Steve Harrington's Halloween party in a mask as a Cinderella-type vampire because you guys are ditching me?"
"Precisely. Except the part where we ditched you because we clearly invited you-"
"Okay! Okay!" Eddie cuts Jeff off waving his hands.
"And hey, we all know that you would love to get some one-on-one time with Harrington, and what's a better time to do this than undercover?" Jeff asks.
Eddie dramatically shushes him and whispers, "I told you guys that secret while entirely way too high, you cannot hold that information against me right now."
"He's right," Frank says, "You can finally find out if Harrington truly isn't an asshole."
"And see if he has the hots for you while you're wearing your-"
"I swear, Gareth, if you call the costume slutty again..."
"Okay, but are you wearing it with your leather pants?" Jeff asks, eyebrows raised.
Eddie sighs and looks down at his lunchbox. "Maybe," he begrudgingly admits.
"Slutty!" Frank loudly says, and Gareth and Jeff immediately burst out laughing.
Eddie covers his face in his hands before joining in on their laughter. "Maybe it's a little slutty," he admits.
As the boys celebrate their win, Eddie feels someone staring over at him. He glances toward Harrington's table where he's sitting next to his ex and her new boyfriend and finds him staring directly at him. Eddie's heart beats a little harder when Steve slightly smiles at him before redirecting his attention to Jonathan.
"Jesus Christ, he looked at me again," Eddie mutters.
"Dude, you always say this, but we never see him do it," Frank groans.
"Yeah, because you don't obsessively check out his table," Gareth says with a laugh before he suddenly frowns and turns to Eddie. "No offense."
"None taken," Eddie replies as he chews on his bottom lip, thinking deeply. If he goes to the party, he can finally confront his crush on the guy he's never truly interacted with unless you count all the times they catch each other's eye then... they would be interacting somewhat often.
He can also finally figure out if it's all in his head or not.
"Okay. I'm going to the Harrington party," Eddie announces.
"Seriously?" Jeff asks incredulously.
"You guys are just so convincing," Eddie says with his hands over his heart.
"Bullshit," Frank says, "You're just going for a chance to maybe say two words to him."
Eddie crosses his arms and asks, "And what would those two words be?"
"'Slutty vampire' in response to 'What are you dressed as?'" Jeff quickly jokes, earning a shriek of laughter from Gareth and Frank.
Eddie thanks whatever entity is responsible for making the bell ring to announce lunch is over. "I need new friends," Eddie lies as he gathers his stuff up.
As Gareth and Frank rush off, Jeff lays a hand on Eddie's arm and says, "Hey, we can do a Halloween slasher night if you want to this weekend. Also, don't hesitate to call if you need help getting ready or need a second pair of eyes to make sure Harrington will approve."
Eddie gives him a genuine small smile and squeezes his shoulder, "Thanks, man."
"Don't mention it," Jeff says as he walks off with a bright smile.
As Eddie watches him walk away, he catches Harrington staring at him out of the corner of his eye, but as soon as he glances over, he looks away looking... angry? Eddie just sighs and shakes his head. He needs to stop thinking that Harrington in any way has thoughts dedicated to him.
Maybe this party will be good for Eddie.
-:-:-:-:-:-
Eddie stares at his reflection in the mirror and twists and turns. Maybe the leather is slutty, but he thinks the plain black cape does well to soften the look a bit. He stares at his hair and all the glossy individually finger-curled strands making his hair look a little more tame than usual. But hell, his arms and fingers ache. He just hopes it's all worth it.
He puts on the bat mask and frowns before taking it off and digging around for his eyeliner pencil he knows he has somewhere in the bathroom. He quickly finds it in a random basket and applies it before smudging it a bit. He puts the mask back on and smiles. He likes the way it has an elegant almost lace-looking quality to the plastic that offsets the leather of his costume.
He wishes he could call Jeff for a final look, but he doesn't want to take any precious time away from him and his brother although they're probably done trick-or-treating by now. Plus, he knows that Jeff would tell him that he looks great and not to overthink it. So, that's exactly what he's going to do.
He grabs the bright orange flyer he found on the floor at school for the Harrington Halloween House Party and cringes at the alliteration. He's pretty sure it's been the same thing for the past three years though, so it's not like Harrington has an option of changing it.
Gosh, he needs to stop stalling and finally leave for the party. He glances at his watch and sees that it's almost eleven, so people should be finally arriving an hour fashionably late. Better to be a part of that crowd to not draw much attention.
He drives over quickly, parking a little down the road when he starts seeing other cars, not wanting to get stuck if he wants to leave early. He takes a deep breath before glancing in the mirror again. He's not recognizable... right? Right.
He gets out of his van and quickly starts walking toward the intimidatingly large house. He's glad to find a group of people rushing inside and even more people outside on the front lawn who aren't sparing him a second glance. Usually, he would come to one of these things with his infamous lunchbox and upsell his stash, but he knew it would give him away tonight. Plus, it's nice to not be on edge the whole time, wondering who is approaching him for drugs and who is approaching him with a slur.
As he makes his way inside, he grimaces at the loud pop music people are wildly dancing to and the smell of alcohol that permeates the house. It's only a few minutes before someone is shoving a cup of mysteriously bright red liquid in Eddie's hand. He takes a tentative sip and shrugs. It's not horrible especially since Eddie likes terribly sweet things, but he definitely isn't going to waste time getting a second cup.
He's on a mission. And his mission is to find Steve and hope that he's not somewhere with his tongue down some random girl's throat. Eddie tries to shove away the thoughts telling him that he shouldn't expect Steve Harrington to not be doing exactly that at his party. Plus, why would he spare time to talk to Eddie of all people?
Eddie takes another sip of his drink and makes his way through the crowd, not finding a single glimpse of that Harrington mane that's usually easy to spot. He goes outside the backdoor and frowns at all the people making out in the pool before heading back inside.
He glances around a few more times before settling back in a corner, downing the rest of his drink before giving up on his search and settling on people watching. But god it’s boring.
These people are boring.
It’s just the same situation over and over again. A couple getting uncomfortably handsy with each other, or a guy and girl eyeing each other up across the room as their friends hype them up in a way that’s either grotesque or filled with squeals.
And the room is hot. So unbearably hot that his leather pants are starting to cling to Eddie in an uncomfortable way that makes him want to rip them off.
Instead, he settles on climbing the stairs and going to find whatever bathroom he can to splash some cold water in his face and hopefully get a moment to himself.
He looks at all the closed doors, pressing his ear against them before quickly backing away whenever he hears something gross. But then his ear settles on one door and there’s the distinct sound of nothing on the other side that puts him at ease.
He twists the knob and walks into the room, freezing when he realizes that, one, this is not a bathroom, and, two, someone with Steve Harrington's distinctive hair swoop is sitting in the room.
The man turns and makes eye contact with Eddie who instantly dies a little inside as he realizes it is Steve. "Sorry. I didn't mean to barge in."
Steve gives him a small smile and says, "I don't mind."
Eddie doesn't know what to do other than hover in the doorway of the dark room. Steve continues to stare at him and eventually asks, "Want to join me?"
Yes. Hell yes, he does. But also, Eddie has the distinct feeling that this either has to be a dream or a prank. But he still nods.
"Do you mind locking the door behind you? I just... don't want anyone trying to use this room as a place to hook up or something."
Now this definitely sets off a few alarms in Eddie's head, but there's a weird air of sadness surrounding Steve that makes it seem... genuine. So Eddie closes the door and locks it behind him, slowly making his way over to Steve. As he gets closer, some of the light trailing in through his blinds catches on the glittering crown that he's holding in his hands.
Eddie gestures toward it. "King Steve?"
Steve smiles sadly and looks down at the crown. "Something like that."
Eddie carefully sits next to Steve, trying to keep a respectable distance between them on the bed. His eyes trace over Steve's costume, a clearly expensive, gorgeous prince or king costume. "So, what are you supposed to be?"
"Prince Charming," Steve answers easily. He glances over at Eddie and shrugs. "Nancy thought that it would be funny because of my 'Harrington charm' mixed with King Steve, but I don't know. I kind of hate that nickname." He shakes his head and changes the subject. "What are you supposed to be?"
"Slutty vampire," Eddie says almost automatically, startling a laugh out of Steve as Eddie curses under his breath and puts his hands over his face. As his fingers press into the mask on his face, he's startled by the realization that Steve doesn't know who he is. "Sorry, my friends kept saying that, and I insisted it wasn't what I was going for. But they won that argument in the end I guess." God, he can't believe he actually said that.
"You look maybe a little slutty but in a good way," Steve rushes to say the last part. He runs a hand through his hair, getting a bit flustered. "I mean you look nice."
"So do you," Eddie admits honestly.
Steve holds his hand out to him. "Steve."
Eddie takes his hand and says, "Cinderella."
Steve laughs again. "Really?"
"I got the mask and everything," Eddie explains, not yet wanting to ruin things when Steve finds out who he really is.
"Cinderella then," Steve says with a smile that makes Eddie feel a little weak in the knees. Thank god he's sitting down.
"So, what are you doing in here in the dark all by yourself, Prince Charming?"
"I'm not by myself, I'm with you," Steve easily deflects.
Eddie raises his eyebrows although he's pretty sure the mask partially covers them.
Steve looks down at the crown again and raises it up. "I just wanted to not be this for a little bit tonight. Plus, the music was giving me a headache - too many concussions." He pauses before turning to Eddie. "And what were you doing escaping from things?"
"Looking for some quiet," Eddie says and looks down at his unnaturally bare hands. He wishes he would've kept on his rings so he could fidget with them. "I was thinking about leaving, but I wanted to stay in case I found you."
Steve shifts a little on the bed, moving to face him. "And now that you've found me?"
Eddie glances up at him and considers it for a moment. "I hadn't really thought that far."
Steve runs a hand through his hair. "Well, I hope I'm not too disappointing."
"Not at all," Eddie insists, "Actually I thought you'd be-"
"An asshole?" Steve interjects quickly, his expression becoming oddly stoic.
Eddie shakes his head. "Preoccupied with someone else. Anyone other than me really."
Steve face softens and he leans in closer, eyes tracing over Eddie's face as if trying to figure out what's under the mask covering most of the upper half of his face. "You know you can tell me your real name, right?"
Eddie swallows and shakes his head. "Maybe I'll just leave a clue behind or something. Not my shoe though. I always hated that plot line."
Steve smiles brightly. "If it fit perfectly then why did it fall off?"
"Exactly!" Eddie says clapping his hands together excitedly. "Plus, with all that dancing, I just know that shoe did not smell good."
Steve throws his head back and laughs, and Eddie just watches him, filled with pride at being able to pull that reaction out of him. As his laughter dies down, Steve glances back down at the crown.
"You should put it on," Eddie blurts out. Steve looks up at him with his eyebrows raised. "I want to see the whole costume."
Steve reluctantly places the crown on his head and glances toward Eddie. It's strange, how it fits him so perfectly at first glance, but he can see how it personally affects Steve, as if it adds a weight to his entire demeanor.
"You look good, but I think I prefer you without," Eddie admits.
Steve quickly takes it off his head and places it behind him. "Yeah, that's because it messes up my best feature."
"That's strange, I didn't see it mess with your eyes, or your smile, or your nose, or your-"
Eddie's suddenly cut off when Steve leans in and kisses him. He just as quickly pulls away and says, "Sorry. I'm so sorry. I should've asked before I just-"
"Steve," Eddie says, laying a hand over Steve's.
Steve looks up at him nervously.
"Please do that again," Eddie says.
Steve sighs in relief and instantly closes the distance between them again, but Eddie is able to prepare for it, properly cupping his face and kissing him back. He feels like he's in a dream again as Steve deepens the kiss and runs his hands through the curls Eddie took so long to perfect. But he doesn't care at all.
There's a sudden loud ringing of a grandfather clock that pierces through the house causing the two of them to jump apart. "Jesus, I forgot that I told them they could play that creepy recording at midnight," Steve says and freezes. "Wait, it's midnight."
"And?"
"You're Cinderella."
Eddie tries to swallow down the pain of once again realizing that to Steve, he's just some random guy that he doesn't know. But Eddie smiles and says, "Well, lucky for you, the magic doesn't run out until one or two in the morning."
Steve smiles back and says, "Lucky me." But instead of kissing Eddie, he surprises him by asking, "Tell me something about yourself."
Eddie shrugs, trying to think of something that won't give him away. "I play the guitar."
"Oh, is that why you wear the..." Steve trails off, eyes flickering down to his neck before looking away. "Forget I said that. I thought I saw something."
Eddie's brows furrow, but he doesn't press him on it. "What about you? Tell me something most people don't know."
Steve thinks for a moment before smiling. "I almost didn't show up to this tonight. I was going to go trick-or-treating with some of the kids I sort of babysit. But Dustin told me they didn't need a babysitter tonight, so I ended up here."
The story twists at Eddie's heart a bit. Even with his disillusioned crush on Steve, he would've never guessed there was a group of kids he cared for so much.
Eddie reaches out and intertwines his fingers with Steve's. "I'm sure they miss you."
"I don't know. They were going in custom-made costumes for these characters they play as in D and D or something. They seemed really excited about it, so they've probably forgotten about me by now."
Eddie swallows down the entire spiel he wants to make about Hellfire Club and asking who the kids are so he might be able to recruit them and instead says, "Well, you're pretty unforgettable."
Steve smiles and opens his mouth to respond when there's a sudden loud knock on the door. Steve frowns and loudly says, "Occupied!"
A voice on the other side of the door loudly says, "I think your neighbors down the way ratted us out! Someone said the police are on their way."
"Shit," Steve mutters and runs his hands over his face. "I'll be right there! Just get rid of all the alcohol you can find and turn off the music. Party is over." He stands up and turns to Eddie offering his hand which Eddie takes.
They both stand up and Eddie realizes he's never stood directly next to him and is surprised that they seem to be the same height. God, it's so nice to be at eye level with him.
"I guess this is goodbye, Cinderella," Steve says sadly and tucks a strand of hair behind his ear. "Will you leave me with at least a kiss?"
"You're too charming to say no to," Eddie jokes before he leans in and kisses Steve again, lingering in the kiss for as long as he can before they both pull away as there's another loud knock on the door.
Steve squeezes Eddie's shoulder one last time and says, "I promise to find you." He rushes out the door quickly after and Eddie is left standing in Steve's room alone. He takes a deep breath before he leaves slowly, distancing the time they were seen with each other.
Luckily, things are in a bit of a frenzy as he leaves so he doubts anyone noticed him slipping out of the same room as Steve. But on his drive home, Eddie realizes he gave Steve absolutely nothing to identify him with. He curses and debates turning back until he sees Hopper's police car pass him.
Steve's never going to find him.
-:-:-:-:-:-
The entire weekend, Eddie's friends have the pleasure of hearing him share the story over and over again while simultaneously complaining about not leaving something equivalent to a shoe behind.
"Well, it sounds like you at least left him with a lot of your saliva," Gareth says one time, and Eddie has to get Jeff to hold him back.
Monday morning is the worst when he realizes he has to see Steve and pretend like nothing happened. Because there's no way he's going to tell Steve that he's Cinderella and expect him to not punch him in the face.
Okay, Steve doesn't seem the type to do that, but there's no way he would be excited to hear that Eddie's the guy he swapped spit with - god, he really needs to get Gareth's words out of his head. But Eddie thinks he'll be able to deal with Steve never knowing than Steve rejecting him.
He sees Steve here and there in the hall but is luckily able to divert his path so Steve never directly sees him. Unfortunately, Eddie knows Steve will be at the same table as always at lunch which is right in his line of sight.
When he sits down, his friends are already nudging him and cracking jokes about Prince Charming and whatnot that pisses Eddie off. It makes things worse when he sees Steve sitting with his back to him, which he's never done before. At one point, Eddie just snaps, gets up, and leaves the cafeteria saying he needs a minute. He rushes off to his locker, digging around for his spare pack of cigarettes when he hears a pair of footsteps to his left.
He sighs and closes the locker door, expecting to see a teacher who has followed him, expecting him to do something suspicious. Instead, he gets the shock of his life when he sees Steve walking right up to him.
As Steve approaches, Eddie dumbly says, "Are you looking to buy something?"
Steve runs a hand through his hair before shaking his head. "No, I'm not, Cinderella."
Eddie's eyes widen. There's no way...
"Did you really think I didn't know who you were?" Steve asks, and Eddie can't get a read on him, but he seems... upset.
"I'm sorry?"
Steve sighs and runs a hand through his hair again. “Eddie, I know it was you, and I want to know why you've been avoiding me all day. Like did it really mean nothing to you? Is that why you didn't tell me your name?"
Eddie's head spins a little too fast at the revelation, so he clarifies, "Wait, you knew it was me the whole time?"
"Yes. I thought you were just really pretending to be in character or something, but today you were icing me out. And I know we haven't really talked before Friday night, but I thought I was clear about wanting to change that."
"Then why did you face with your back toward me in the cafeteria?" Eddie blurts out without thinking.
"There was something on my chair," Steve answers easily.
"Oh." Okay, maybe Eddie is an idiot but, "Wait, you really knew who I was and still, "he lowers his voice and leans in, "...kissed me?"
A look of realization crosses over Steve's face before he smiles. "Eddie, I've been staring at you for weeks now, and I just hadn't gotten the courage to talk to you yet. You're pretty intimidating."
"Me? I'm intimidating? You're literally called 'King Steve.'" Steve frowns at the title, but Eddie continues, "I never thought I had a shot with you without the mask on - or even with the mask on. I was avoiding you today because I didn't want you to realize it was me and reject me."
"I thought you called yourself Cinderella because I was dressed as Prince Charming," Steve laughs.
"I didn't even realize that was Cinderella's prince!" Eddie nearly shrieks, laughing loudly along with Steve. "We're a disaster," he says through his laughter.
Steve takes a deep breath, trying to kill his laughter a little to say, "I think we should start over a little and go on a date. This time without fake names and the police showing up."
"No promises about the second one," Eddie says with a big smile.
Steve smiles and looks at him as if waiting for something.
"What?" Eddie asks.
Steve laughs anxiously. "Is that a yes to the date?"
"Oh! Christ. Yes! Yes, it is. Sorry," Eddie sighs and runs a hand over his face, noting the way his hands don't catch on a mask this time. Steve Harrington is fine with him being Cinderella - more than fine with it really. He narrows his eyes at Steve. "And this isn't a trick?"
"I thought it would be more of a treat," Steve jokes.
Eddie rolls his eyes and simultaneously laughs at the horrible pun. "Did you know that you're really charming?"
Another laugh is startled out of Steve who quickly tries to hide it. He looks down at the ground and says, "I'm having a hard time thinking of a joke about a slutty vampire."
Eddie groans, "Don't remind me."
"I wouldn't mind if you reminded me," Steve flirts.
"Christ," Eddie says, feeling a blush quickly rise on his cheeks.
The bell for lunch rings again, and this time Eddie wants to curse the entity responsible for it.
"I'll slip you my number later so you can call me later, Cinderella" Steve announces, walking back to the cafeteria where he left his stuff.
"I'm charmed," Eddie replies with a wink that has Steve getting slightly flustered.
As he rounds the corner and gets out of sight, Eddie can't help but think about how Steve really kept his promise about finding him. He also can't wait to have proof that all his friends were wrong, except maybe he was a little bit of a slutty vampire... But it definitely paid off.
And it definitely was a very happy Halloween.

AITA for not helping my family pay for hospital bills?
🎷🔥 so i can find it later
This is going to need a lot of context right off the bat. I (20'sM) am a gay man that comes from an extremely conservative family. My sister (20'sF) is also a lesbian and recently got married and adopted a child. I'm very proud of her, but that's not the issue.
My parents seem to have little to no issue with my sister marrying a woman. They do have a very big issue with me liking dudes, however. Like, it was the reason my parents got divorced "big issue." I'm not gonna go into everything, but my sister ended up with my dad and I stayed with my mom for reasons I'd rather not share.
Our last parting was on... less than decent terms. Upon finding out that I was of the homosexual variety, my dad flipped his lid. He called me several slurs and said some other very hurtful things, and even made moves to physically attack me. My mom, also a very homophobic woman, stepped in and thankfully talked him down. Then divorce, etc etc.
I saved up enough money to move out when I turned 18 and may have done some impulsive things including completely trashing my mom's bathroom, which I know I'm definitely the asshole for, but in my defense my mom kept "forgetting" to pick up my prescriptions and I was manic (I have bipolar). But, again, I know I'm the AH for that.
I now live with my two best friends R (20sNB) and P (20sM) in a house we all pay for. R comes from money so they help out a lot, and I love them both to death. We kind of have a sort of situationship but none of us are poly? Idk it's weird we're just going with it rn.
Anyway, I bring them up bc we all went to my sister's wedding together, and my parents separately chewed me out for bringing them (and for R daring to wear a dress. They're amab for context) and I obviously argued back bc hey they're my best friends and my sister specifically said it was okay for me to bring them (she and R are also friends and they wouldve been invited regardless of me bringing P) and also because R looks very good in a dress and i can handle them shit-talking me but i will not tolerate slander towards R or P.
At the wedding, I went full no contact with them and told them to lose my number. They, ofc, did Not lose my number and I got several calls from extended family saying about what you would expect them to say, so I switched numbers and gave only my sister and her wife my new number.
My sister. I love her to pieces but sometimes she gets on my nerves. She gives my number to my mom to have "just in case," but she reassures me that she won't give it to my dad or any other family. So far, she's made good on that promise, I just have to deal with periodic calls about getting a girlfriend and having kids.
Now, my dad isn't the healthiest guy out there. He has arthritis, osteoporosis, and several other things that i don't really wanna get into. As he's aged he's only gotten worse and there have been several times he's almost died, but recently he's been put on hospice and has an estimated Not Very Long to live.
Here's where I may be the AH. My dad calls me while I'm at a very important, personal event for R (he got my number from my mom) and goes on a long rant on how I'm an unlovable disgrace and how he fed me and clothed me and I could make up for all that by helping him pay off hospital debt. I say no immediately and tell him that he's never been my dad, only my dna donor, and that he's going to be dead anyway and that selling his house could cover all the bills. He calls me many more names and tells me he wishes I was never born (calling my mom some very derogatory names too (she's asian)) and that i should just go ahead and off myself to save the world someone like me. I tell him he should die faster while he's at it because God knows the world already has enough bigots in it and there could never be too many mentally ill queers.
I hung up, but now I'm thinking I went a bit too far. AITA for not helping out with his hospital bills and yelling at him?
What are these acronyms?

so i just rewatched IT chapter 2 for the first time in five years and. i have some Thoughts
there are A LOT more flashing lights in this movie than i remembered and i apparently do not deal with those as well as i did half a decade ago (as i'm writing this i have a headache and i kept having to shut my eyes during scenes because it hurt my eyes so bad)
the "let's take our shirts off and kiss!" line does not have any context??? i didn't forget that line but i was under the impression it must have had SOME sort of context. but nope? eddie will try so hard to pretend to be heterosexual and then he will see richie for an hour and start telling him to kiss him. like okay buddy
this shits so fucking cheesy. i know in my heart stan was being a bit of a sarcastic asshole when he wrote "be you be proud" there's no way he wrote that without the intention of taking the piss out of richie. like COME ON that is WAY TOO ON THE NOSE
EVIL that they keep showing richie mourning eddie and then immediately switching to a scene of bev and ben kissing. we get it gay people die alone and the hot straight people get to own a yacht or something (mostly kidding i love bev and ben but i do feel kind of weird about the gay stuff in this movie idk...)
the fact that eddie has canonically seen enough of richie's stand up routine to have an opinion on it (that he doesn't write it himself) is very important to me. bro probably like hatewatches his actual comedy shows but loves his interviews i believe this
we were ROBBED of the miniseries mike and bill biking around on silver montage and they replaced it with fucking. BILLVERLY. be for real.
everyone else getting their tokens: almost dies. richie getting his token: the clown said he knows i'm gay :(
richie being like "jeez we're not afraid of spiders" and then eddie immediately taking off his shower cap is SILLY <3
almost cried when eddie was like "i wonder what stan would be like all grown up" and richie was like "probably how he was as a kid. the best." LIKE BE REAL YOU ARE MAKING ME CRY
bev and ben trying to have a moment and richie and eddie yelling "I FUCKED YOUR MOM!" "NO YOU DIDNT!" "I FUCKED YOUR MOM" back and forth in the background is payback for all of their romantic scenes after eddie's death while i'm sitting here crying
mike drugging bill is very funny. i love their dynamic BILL: did you drug me???? MIKE: a little... maybe... BILL: it's okay <3
that reminds me. WHEN THEY SAID I LOVE YOU TO EACH OTHER???? <33333 also mike's MAN at the end is so real he gets me.
really sunk in while watching this movie that i, an adult, dress like thirteen year old richie tozier. that's evil.

🔥 anything about sirius because i am being a little hater towards some characterisations too
i've already talked your ears off about this on discord but i'm happy to talk to about it again bc i fucking HATE new sirius black with a burning passion. i hate him as much as i love my sirius black that marauderstok can pry from my cold dead hands bc i'm not letting him go. i don't know when it happened and why but marauders fans are particularly persistent on taking away any interesting traits sirius had and leaving behind a whimpering pathetic twink that cries when someone looks at him the wrong way. sirius has been scrubbed clean of any morally grey traits he might've had (he's not allowed to care for his family (unless it's regulus) or long for them bc they are bad, he's not allowed to have any prejudices even though he was literally raised with pureblood mentality and taught he was superior to everyone else from the day he was born, he's not allowed to be an asshole bc he's not like his family guys!! and when he is an asshole it's always used to victimize the character he's being an asshole to and sirius is painted as the villain with mommy issues that can only be fixed by getting dicked down apparently)
i cannot stress this enough: LET THIS MAN BE A COMPLEX CHARACTER!! and no, giving him mental illnesses that miraculously disappear when he gets together with remus and making him attempt to kill himself post prank because he feels bad is NOT making him complex! you're just weird. you're just romanticizing mental illnesses and i can't believe you don't see anything wrong with it. giving him bipolar to justify his actions is?? not??? representation??? it's offensive to people who actually have to deal with these issues in their day to day lives and yet here you are using something that will impact their life forever as a plot device for your uwu sadboy mlm fanfic.
and that's what new sirius boils down to. he's a plot device, an accessory to everyone else's story that's never given much depth other than "oh his mom used the cruciatus on him and now he's traumatized". no hate to jegulus but hate to specific jegulus fics that turn sirius into an overdramatic caricature of his former self for the sake of drama and angst.
also, some of these wolfstar shippers... wtf are you guys on?? idk when and why (that's a lie i do but i'm not gonna say it) remus became sirius black in a werewolf costume but here we are. oh sirius was cool and effortlessly smart and handsome and girls wanted him? well guess what? snatches all of those character traits and throws them onto remus they're his character traits now. ignore how it doesn't make any sense for the werewolf child who was isolated from the rest of the world to be a smooth talking alpha casanova who plays basketball actually. while we're at it, ignore how unrealistic it is for a boy who was raised in a family that believed they were superior to everyone else based on blood status, who was raised to be the perfect heir and checked off all the traits needed to be one to be insecure?? and unsure of himself?? and stupid??? and a loser??? i don't understand what the point of flipping the wolfstar dynamic was when you're left with a shallow copy of the original but ok. you do you ig.
to summarize, my sirius is cool and effortlessly smart and egotistical and a complete asshole who thinks he's the best thing ever. is it an act to cover up how damaged he thinks he is because of his family? possibly. but i also fully believe sirius thought he was a god amongst men and everyone should be glad to be in his presence. he talked down to other people because he considered himself smarter, he rolled his eyes when students asked stupid questions and made fun of them when they got an answer wrong. he's a teenage boy let him be a dick with no excuses.
(also i find it funny when people write about sirius getting into a fight with james or remus and crying because they said something mean. as if sirius wouldn't throw hands the moment someone started criticizing him. he's toxic and that's what makes him interesting. that's his purpose! characters exist to make stories interesting, to start drama, not to be your moral guide on how to act. stories become so much more fun once you let go of the need to make every character a good person. also liking a character doesn't equal liking them as a person. i love sirius but i would hate his guts irl)

Mike sat in the passenger seat of Leff's 1970 Chrysler Newport which he treated like the child he always wanted. He was pissed to have been dragged out of bed so early to sit in the Train station parking lot. He had no idea who they were picking up or why he had to be with him but he was annoyed and tired.
"You're gonna need to get in the backseat." Leff said without looking at him.
"The fuck for?" Mike looked over at Leff who narrowed his eyes at him.
"Because I'd rather not watch Y/n embarrass you this early in the morning." He explained. Mike knew very little about this person they were picking up. He knew that they worked for Leff and just returned from doing an import run.
"He can sit in the backseat just fine." Mike laughed but when he felt Leff's gaze on him, he looked over at him.
"Are you fucking serious? I'm already comfortable, why do I have to move just because of them?" Mike whined.
"You sound like a fucking child." Leff groaned.
"You treat me like a fucking child." Mike argued. Leff rolled his eyes and continued to puff on a cigarette watching for this person to make their appearance.
"What's so special about this guy? I mean you made me take a fucking Uber from the airport when I got here but we're picking this guy up at the train station?" Mike asked curiously.
"Y/n works harder than you ever thought about working." Leff kept his eyes on the platform and Mike rolled his eyes.
"Y/n isn't a guy either so be respectful. Did your mother teach you any fucking manners?" Leff asked with frustration. Mike let out a laugh.
"So what? You fucking her?" Mike asked with his eyebrow up. Leff gave him a death glare before Mike put his hands up and got in the back seat mumbling about never getting any respect.
"Okay so this chick...what does she do exactly? I mean is she like Sicky? Is she like me, a runner?" Leff snorted.
"A runner? That's what you call yourself? She's not like either of you because she doesn't need a fucking job title to earn money." Leff explained.
"She's also off limits so don't even think about being cute with her, she'll cut your dick off before I even get a chance to slap you around for being an idiot." Leff pointed at him in the rearview with a warning.
"So you are fucking her?" Mike pressed and Leff swatted at him but he put his hands up.
"Jesus Christ! I'm just curious. What's her deal? Why am I not allowed to even ask about her?" Mike was getting irritated with how uptight Leff was being.
"She used to work for a nightclub that one of my competition works out of. I was fucking a few of her coworkers but she had reached out to me about your mom once." Mike's attention was piqued.
"What do you mean?" Mike pressed.
"When your mom was trying to get her fix, she would go to places like that and try and score. Y/n kept an eye on her for me but her boss wasn't too happy about it...tried to have her dealt with." Leff explained.
"But she works for you now? How did that pan out?" Mike was confused.
"Technically I paid a fee to take her out of the night club. The club boss didn't care, my competition still tries to make moves to bring her back into the fold over there." Leff shook his head.
"How can you trust someone who worked for the competition?" Mike asked and caught Leff's gaze in the mirror again.
"She got her ass nearly cut into pieces for getting your mom out of a deal gone wrong. I saved her life, got her out of that assholes crew. She doesn't have to suck dick or get her ass beat over here. She's worked her ass off and has never said no to a tough task. She's the best worker I got." Leff wanted Mike to know the situation with Y/n and how important she was to his team. She was a trustworthy person and had even known his mom. Mike really wanted to ask her about his mom but he knew Leff would probably shut that down.
It was still something that was too hard to talk about.
"There she is. Keep your dumbass comments to yourself or I'll kick your ass." Leff popped the trunk as she approached and she tossed two large duffels into the trunk before climbing into the car. Mike was surprised she was so attractive. He knew she once worked at a nightclub but she had naturally beautiful features.
"Who's Brokeback Mountain?" Y/n tossed her thumb to the backseat.
"Oh fuck off." Mike groaned in annoyance.
"That's my nephew, Mike. He's apart of the team now." Leff started to drive and Y/n turned back to look at him.
"Is this a permanent look or are you going through a phase of sorts where you like to suck dick?" Y/n asked with a smirk.
"You're one to talk with lips like that. Are you going for New York homeless or DC prostitute?" Mike fought back.
"Mike!" Leff growled but Y/n laughed.
"Oh he's going to be fun. I like him already." She turned in the seat and extended her hand.
"Y/n, I will absolutely be ripping you to shreds verbally on the daily." She smiled brightly and Mike felt a little part of him melt a little before taking her hand and shaking it.
"Mike and I look forward to going toe to toe with you any day sweetheart." He shook her hand and she flicked his cowboy hat.
"So does the hat get you any pussy?" Y/n asked curiously and Mike smirked.
"Why? You want to get in line?" He teased making Y/n laugh.
"This one is going to be trouble, you know that right?" She looked over at Leff who glared at her.
"Don't encourage is dumbass behavior. It will get him killed." Leff gritted.
"He'll be okay. You know Sicky and I will take good care of him." She tried to reassure and Mike was curious as to the touch she gave Leff's shoulder. Maybe she was into Leff? He needed to talk to her and get her story before he let himself get too interested in her.
"So you knew my mom?" Mike asked abruptly and the care grew silent. She looked over her shoulder and nodded at him.
"I did. She talked about you a lot....I'm sorry how things ended." Y/n looked at him with remorse and he wasn't expecting her to look so effected by the mention of her. He made a note to ask her about what she knew when Leff wasn't around.
"Are we done making friendship bracelets and braiding each others hair" Leff asked breaking up the silence.
"Don't' be jealous Leff. We can get you a cowboy hat if you want." She openly teased Leff and her glared at her. There was so much about her Mike wanted to know.

nuisance part two
pairing(s) twd x teen!reader, daryl dixon × teen!reader (platonic)
warning(s) canon-typical violence/gore
wattpad link , masterlist , previous part
it was barely midday, yet it had already been a more than eventful day at the campsite. everyone seemed on edge and rightfully so, people were at each other's throats. y/n had the unfortunate luck of getting stuck in the crossfire of all the chaos.
"you've caught us at a bad time, i promise it's not always like this," lori sighed, rubbing a hand over her face in frustration, "we're grateful for the food you brought.. with daryl."
"that's a shame," y/n leaned against a cushion in the back seat of the rv, a smug look on her face, "seems fun here."
lori blinked at the girl, slightly puzzled by her. fun? the world was ending and society as everyone knew it had collapsed and this little girl thinks it's fun? lori nods, deciding to look past her comments, "okay.. dale told me your name's y/n, is that right?"
"mhm," y/n hummed in response, getting comfortable on the cushions, "man, this is way better than sleepin' on a tree."
"you've been sleeping.. in trees?" lori asked, "how long have you been on your own?"
y/n shut her eyes, resting her arms behind her head, getting comfortable in the back of the rv, "the biters can't get ya up there."
lori hummed in acknowledgment, y/n was a smart kid and lori could see that, "can i ask you about your family?"
y/n opened her eyes and stared at lori for a few seconds before responding, "how 'bout you ask me one question and then i get to ask you a question."
lori laughed, "seems only fair, fine then... where's your parents?"
"my dad's in atlanta probably with his buddies or somethin' by now, but i left 'im to go to my mom, she's in the countryside and i've been making my way there."
lori furrowed her eyebrows at the mention of atlanta, "honey... atlanta was bombed.. there's nothin' left there."
y/n squinted her eyes at lori, "you sure?"
"i'm so sorry.." lori gulped, "my son and i were headed to atlanta when this all happened, we never got close since the highway was so packed... then there were bombs. they bombed the entire city, i'm sorry honey."
y/n nodded, taking in the information and let out a sigh, "hm. that's a shame."
"guessin' you didn't have a great home life then?" lori frowned at the girl.
"hey? we agreed only one question, s'my turn now," y/n shot a pointed look at lori, "rick.. your husband?"
"he is," her face fell slightly at the mention of him, he was currently getting ready to go on a rescue mission for a piece of shit, "my turn... let's see... what is... your favourite colour?"
lori raises an eyebrow at the girl with a wide smile on her face. she knew not to touch the subject of her family again and decided to keep the questions lighthearted.
"seriously?" y/n scoffed, "that's your question?"
lori feigned offense at her response and scoffed back at the girl, "well excuse me little miss, you said i could ask anythin' i wanted and right now i'm dyin' to know what your favourite colour is."
y/n chuckled at the woman's enthusiasm, the slight increase in her southern drawl brought a smile to y/n's face. she rolls her eyes at lori, her mouth scrunching up to the side to hide her smile, "i dunno, probably green?"
"guessin' you've been seeing a lot of it nowadays," lori nodded, a soft smile on her face. the kind of smile that only a mother was capable of, it made y/n feel warm seeing it.
"what's daryl's deal?" y/n questions, her face scrunching up at the thought of the man, "seems like an asshole."
"hey, watch your mouth." lori points a finger at the girl.
"sorry, ma'am." the girl's manners were a surprise to lori, she hadn't expected it. y/n was plenty sarcastic and seemed pretty guarded, but she could also be polite and respectful. it confused lori, but she just assumed that y/n's parents were strict on manners.
"it's alright, hon," lori smiled at the girl.
"so what's his deal?" y/n repeats her question, tilting her head, "how do you people know each other?"
"well.. we don't really know each other all that well. shane, rick and my son are the only one's i know from.. well, before." lori explains, fidgeting with the necklace around her neck, "most of us met on the highway, we were all stuck there for a while and eventually we ended up here... as for daryl, no one really knows much about 'im, but he provides for the group, so none of us can complain."
"what about his brother?"
"it's my turn to ask a question," lori chuckles as y/n frowns at her, "how old are you?"
"i'm twelve."
"you're the same age as my son," lori smiles, "and another girl here, carol's daughter."
"cool.." y/n pauses to think of her next question, "what's one thing you miss from before?"
lori chuckled, a few things coming to mind, "oh wow, it'd have to be my phone, i miss texting my friends.. askin' when the next book club was gonna be... probably sounds boring to you, huh?"
y/n smiled at the woman and shook her head, "no ma'am, my mom was the leader of her book club, serious business."
"well, maybe me and your mom could start our own new book club," lori smiled back at y/n. she had to admit that the girl was nice to talk to when she let her guard down and dropped the sarcasm. lori had been given the job of figuring out what y/n's 'deal' was - whatever shane meant by that.
"she always tried to get me to join her meetings," y/n stared at her hands, as she fidgeted nervously, "i used to hate it. i struggle with readin' so.. never liked it, but now i wish i went with 'er more."
lori smiles sadly at the girl, offering a reassuring pat to her shoulder, "i know it may not be the same, but dale's got some books, we could read together one day, until you find your mom that is."
y/n looked up at lori and chuckled, "tryin' to get me to join a book club?"
lori laughs and shakes her head, "can't blame a gal for trying, can you?"
before y/n could respond, the rv door opened and shane stepped inside, "hey.. how's it goin' in here, everything okay?"
"just talking about starting a book club, weren't we y/n?" lori looked at y/n with a smile.
"yes ma'am." y/n nods, her eyes watching shane carefully as he stands by the door. something about him rubbed y/n the wrong way, it was an unexplainable feeling - just something in her gut.
shane nodded back, "okay then, rick's about to leave if you wanna speak with him."
"you gonna be okay for a few minutes, hon?" lori asked y/n, her face scrunched up in concern.
"yes ma'am."
"okay," lori nodded, she didn't take the girl's sudden switch in attitude personally. the two may have been joking and swapping stories previously, but lori understood that y/n may be on guard around people she hadn't yet spoken with, or maybe she was just shy. she was an interesting character to say the least - one she hoped would stick around.
lori left the rv, but shane stayed inside, watching y/n. he had already said his piece to rick, so he had no need to leave.
"y/n, right?" shane raises an eyebrow at the girl, taking a few steps closer to her. the floor of the rv creaks ever so slightly under him.
"yes sir." y/n crossed her arms over her chest, staring back at him intensely, trying to read the man.
"sir?" shane chuckles, running a hand through his hair, "ain't you polite?"
"i can be." y/n hisses.
"okay, okay, i get it, you don't know me so you're a little on edge, i get it," he raised his hands up to show he meant no harm, "just have a few questions for you s'all."
y/n stayed quiet for a few seconds and nodded to tell him to ask his questions.
"you on your own out there?" shane leaned against the door to the toilet, his body blocking the walkway that led to the exit. she knew he did it on purpose, but she hadn't intended on running out anyways, "ain't got no folks out there waiting on you?"
"i'm alone."
he hummed in response, impressed with the fact she had survived, "where's your folks at?"
y/n rolled her eyes and turned to face the window across from her, "is that all you people are gonna ask about?"
shane scoffed, rubbing a hand through his hair, "well excuse me for being curious why a kid's runnin' wild 'round the woods alone like some kid raised by wolves."
"y'know, curiosity killed the cat." y/n turned back to look at shane, shrugging her shoulders.
"how'd you survive out there?" he ignored her previous statement, not wanting to entertain a threat from a little girl.
"slept in places biters couldn't get me. places people wouldn't be lookin'."
"hm. that's smart." shane nodded, "you goin' back to the woods, or you gonna stay here?"
y/n raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised that her staying at the camp was even on the table at all, "stay?"
"the others are thankful for the food you 'n daryl brought back," shane paused, readjusting his stance to face y/n, "you know how to survive, you're resourceful. that much's obvious. we could use someone like you. besides, i ain't gonna send a kid away."
y/n squinted at the man, looking at the way he held himself. she rolls her eyes at him and asks a question that shane didn't expect, "you a cop?"
shane squinted at y/n, his head tilting to the side, "how'd you guess?"
"the way you're talkin' n' the way you carry yourself," y/n shrugged, she could have guessed with her eyes closed that the man was a cop, she had seen a fair few of them around her father growing up, "i was thinking military earlier, but that chokehold ya had on daryl seemed like you've been wantin' do that for a while.. now you can since the law don't mean nothing now."
shane laughed, "you got some brain in that head of yours."
"ain't got no time to be stupid."
"so you wanna stay or not?" shane repeated his earlier question, "you're free to leave any time."
y/n looked at her hands for a few seconds, debating whether or not she wanted to stay, "might as well, i caught those damn squirrels, it'd be a shame to not eat."
"watch your mouth." shane raises an eyebrow at her language.
"yes sir."
"no need to call me sir, this ain't nazi germany. shane's just fine," shane laughs, shaking his head slightly, "now c'mon out, meet some of the folks here, we won't bite."
y/n let's out a deep sigh. she knew that she'd have to meet the other people, but with how on edge everyone has been since her arrival, despite her not being the cause of the camp's anxiety, she'd rather not talk to any of them.
"hey there again," dale smiled at y/n, crossing his arms over his chest, "what're you up to now?"
"i'm supposed to meet the people at the camp. shane said i should and decide whether i want to stay or not." y/n surveys the campsite whilst explaining her plans to dale, scouting the people she'd have to talk to.
"well are ya gonna stay for dinner at least?" from what dale gathered, y/n was on her own in the woods and he didn't feel right sending a child back out there. not after what he had seen.
"duh," y/n rolled her eyes, "i caught more than half of that, i ain't letting y'all rob me."
dale laughed in response, amused at her words, "well, let me take you to meet everyone then, huh? i'll make sure each conversation is nice and short so you're not stuck listening to people go on and on."
y/n let out an exasperated sigh and rolled her eyes again, "fine, but if i poke your side it means i wanna stop chattin'."
"just pat my arm, no need to poke me kiddo."
"she doesn't act like she's a child. she definitely doesn't act her age at least.." lori muttered, staring at the newest addition to the group from afar. y/n had been sat talking with carl and sophia for a while, so lori kept a watchful eye - she trusted the girl enough to be around her son and she trusted the people at the camp, but she couldn't be too trustful. something about the girl didn't seem right, "it's just the start of all this mess and she's already more mature than she should be..."
"maybe that's a good thing," shane shrugged, "the world's changed, kids gotta toughen up now."
lori let out a sigh, shaking her head, "you don't get what i'm sayin' shane. she's the same age as carl for crying out loud. if she's grown up that fast, it's only a matter of time before carl stops being a kid too," lori brushed her hair out of her face anxiously, "this can't be the world, kids need to be kids, families shouldn't be broken apart- hell, kids shouldn't be armed with weapons, she should barely know how to use a knife like that."
shane rolled his eyes and sighed, "i get it, you don't want your boy to grow up too fast, but it's not a bad thing she knows what she's doin'. could be an asset to us, you seen the haul she 'n daryl got together? we'd never go hungry lori. carl won't go hungry."
lori nodded, acknowledging y/n's skills, "you're right, but i still feel sorry for her, she's clearly on edge around this many people... don't know what she's been through, but it doesn't seem like anything good."
"so... d'ya talk with rick?" shane's arms tensed at his own question.
"we talked," lori nodded, "shane. you have to understand that what we were doing is over. you told me my husband was dead, i didn't know any better."
shane clenched his jaw, tilting his head to the side to pretend he was watching the other people at the camp, "i thought he was dead, okay? i wouldn't lie about that, not rick."
y/n glanced over at lori and shane sat on a log speaking in hushed voices, but she could tell by their body language that neither of the two were happy, or comfortable.
"what's that guy's problem?" y/n gestured over at shane.
"oh, that's shane. he's my dad's friend," carl shrugged, "he saved me and my mom, he's cool."
"seems intense," y/n muttered, looking over at sophia, who just silently fidgeted with her fingers, "you okay?"
sophia looked up from her hands and nodded, a polite smile on her face, "yes.. thank you."
"sophia's not really good with new people, she's shy," carl explained, "there's a few other kids at the camp, but they're with their family right now."
"cool," y/n nodded, wondering when dale was going to return from his bathroom break to relieve her from the awkward conversation with the two kids.
"how did you survive on your own? it's none of my business, but my mom said you were out there alone.. is that true?" sophia asked, her voice meek and cautious, y/n recognised the voice as the one she'd used around her father. instantly y/n had figured sophia out, y/n knew she could trust her.
"started hunting and tracking when i was first able to, i've been doin' that to avoid people and catch dinner," y/n shrugged and readjusted the way she was sat. she sat with her legs crossed on the dirt, the position reminding her of her time at school.
"you were on your own?" carl asks, his eyes wide with amazement.
"yeah."
"that's awesome!" carl grins, admiring y/n's ability to survive on her own.
"awesome?" y/n questioned, frowning at the boy, "you really think that's awesome?"
"uh- i mean... yeah?"
y/n scoffs at carl, her eyebrows furrowing together in frustration at his naivety, "really? awesome? if you had been out there by yourself, you wouldn't think it was awesome. people die out there."
"well, you didn't?" carl responds, unsure why y/n seemed so irritated, he meant what he said as a compliment.
"that's 'cause i know what i'm doing, but i stand just as much a chance as everyone else out there." y/n crosses her arms over her chest, looking back at the rv to see if dale was back yet. he sure was taking his damn time.
"i think you have a better chance than most people.." sophia smiles shyly at y/n. y/n seemed unpredictable and sophia was slightly intimidated by her, but sophia was hopeful that she'd win y/n over and gain a new friend.
"yeah! you can hunt and stuff and you have a bow." carl nods in agreement with sophia. he admired y/n. she was the same age as him, yet she knew things that he didn't. he could learn a lot about survival from y/n if she stayed.
"i've seen people get shot for no reason other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time. i've seen biters tear people's limbs and organs apart. nothing about anything that's happened is awesome. you have to take this shit seriously, or you die. got it?" y/n talks with a serious tone, but keeps her voice down to avoid adults overhearing her.
carl and sophia both share an uneasy look after listening to what y/n said and they both aren't sure how to respond. they're silent, horrified by the thought of what y/n had seen, but luckily dale was back to relieve them from the unnerving conversation.
"hey carl, sophia," dale smiles at the other two children, "i see you've met y/n."
dale takes note of the expressions on carl and sophia's faces. they seem distraught, but they nod in response to dale.
"hey kid," dale taps y/n on the shoulder, "there's something i need your opinion on, follow me?"
y/n nods and stands up from the ground, grateful to have an excuse to leave carl and sophia. she follows dale into the rv and he sits down in the booth, gesturing to the seat across for him for y/n to sit down.
"what happened out there?" dale asks, raising an eyebrow at y/n, "they looked a bit pale, did you.. say something?"
y/n realises that dale didn't need her opinion on anything and she sighs, shrugging her shoulders, "i just told 'em what they needed to hear."
dale's face holds an unamused expression as he looks over at y/n, leaning his arms on the table that separates them, "i know you've probably seen a lot out there during your time alone, but carl and sophia haven't.. you might want to be a little.. sensitive."
"sensitive?" y/n's face scrunches up in disagreement, "i'm just tellin' them how it is. sheltering them does nothing. if anything, it'll just get 'em killed faster."
dale sighs at y/n's response, "what i'm trying to say is that you might scare them."
"good. they should be scared. everyone here should be scared, this ain't some game or family camping trip," y/n scoffs, leaning back in her seat.
before dale could respond to y/n, the rv door opens and lori walks inside.
great. y/n thinks to herself. those little shits ratted on me.
"hey dale, could you give us a minute?" lori smiles at the older man as he leaves the rv. dale was slightly relieved that lori wanted to speak with y/n, he hoped that she would have better luck getting through to y/n.
"hey y/n." lori takes a seat where dale previously was sitting, "how are you liking the camp so far? i hope everyone's been nice to you so far."
"cut to the chase," y/n rolls her eyes, "i know carl ratted me out."
"he didn't rat you out, he's just worried about you," lori smiles nervously at y/n, there really was no beating around the bush with this girl, "apparently you said some things that made him and sophia concerned?"
"they're the ones that said me being on my own was 'awesome'. i was just trying to tell them they were wrong and they shouldn't say stuff like that."
"well, they both are sorry that they upset you, they didn't mean to be insensitive to you," lori pauses, nervously chewing on her lip, "in the future, please don't say things like that to them.. i don't want them to be too scared to sleep.. it's been hard enough recently."
y/n thinks about the countless sleepless nights she's had, the long nights where she feared for her life. oh, but she wouldn't want carl and sophia to struggle with getting to sleep.
"yeah, whatever." y/n was done with the conversation at that point. she had nothing else to say. she did partially feel guilty for saying those things to carl and sophia, it was a little harsh and after all they just wanted to befriend her.
"squirrel's ready to eat, some of the others were cooking whilst rick and the rest left," lori turned towards the door and looked back at y/n, "c'mon before it's all gone."
y/n didn't respond, but she nodded at lori before following her out of the rv.
lori could tell that y/n's demeanor had changed, she was much quieter, but definitely more alert. she observed, or at least that's what y/n had been doing whilst they ate - not once did y/n's eyes stop watching the other people around her.
"you don't have to be on guard here, you know that right?" lori whispered, rubbing y/n's back softly. y/n flinched from the touch, but didn't push her away. lori takes note of how y/n's body stiffens at her touch and takes note of it, her reaction confirming the thoughts lori had been having about y/n and her life before.
"you always gotta be alert," y/n shrugged, staring at ed with a frown on her face, "you figure people out faster that way."
"figure out people? what do you mean?" lori's face scrunched up in confusion.
"my dad was a lot like ed," y/n looked up at lori, "i'm guessing that's sophia's dad."
"y'know, you could've been a really good detective." lori complimented her, "what were the clues?"
"i figured carol was her mother, i saw carol and ed together - my mom and dad were like them before they split up..." y/n sighed, "i was like sophia when i was younger."
"she's your age, y/n?" lori chuckled.
"i know, but i..." y/n rolled her eyes at her own words and sighed, "i don't know what i'm saying forget about it."
"i know we just met, but there's not many other people around nowadays, so we'll have plenty of time to get to know each other, if you do stay that is", lori shrugged, attempting to make y/n feel like she had a choice whether she left or not, though lori wasn't so keen on letting a child leave a safe place with adults. lori didn't want y/n to feel caged in, "you can talk to me whenever you want about anything you want, okay hun?"
y/n nodded and went back to people watching, "this fire should be put out soon, you keep it up any longer biters will show up, or people."
lori nodded and passed the information onto shane. y/n remained at the fireplace, watching people like she had been doing before.
sophia slipped away from her mother's side and sat down next to y/n in front of the fire, "hi again.."
y/n glanced at sophia from the corners of her eyes, "hi."
"i'm sorry about carl..." she sighs, "it's been so long since there was a new kid at the camp, we were just happy..."
y/n smiles a little, trying to reassure sophia. the last thing y/n wanted was to make her feel like she did anything wrong, "it's okay sophia."
"no problem..." she smiled back nervously, "you must be pretty brave though, right?"
y/n frowned at sophia and tilted her head to the side, "no. i hid the entire time i was on my own. that's not brave."
sophia shook her head and smiled, "if i was on my own, i don't think i'd survive."
"you would," y/n replied almost a little too quickly, "don't say that."
"i guess being on your own makes you a pretty good liar too, huh?" sophia giggles, making y/n laugh.
"shut up, i'm serious."
"i'm glad there's a girl my age here now.. i was getting bored of just talking to carl," sophia whispered, "we're going to have so much fun."
y/n smiled at sophia, she didn't get mad by her words like she had at carl earlier. she figured the two hadn't seen anything yet. never saw a man get torn apart in front of them. never seen another kid get shot point blank. none of it. they had been shielded from it all and as much as she felt it was unfair, she didn't want to be the one to ruin their outlook on life. they still had hope. she wasn't going to take that away from them.
who knows, maybe y/n could allow herself to be a kid for just a bit longer. there were a few capable people at camp that could protect her. maybe she could allow herself to befriend sophia.
"yeah.. can't wait."

Bad jokes are how eye roll
Custody AU (Original story by @ao3gobi17)
Characters: Miles 'Spider' Socorro, Miles Quaritch, Lyle Wainfleet, Z-dog, Walker, Fike, Brown, Lopez, Ja, other recoms (not mentioned, but they're there too)
Warnings: description of losing and removing an eye (not extremely explicit). Recoms kinda being assholes.
Word count: 1369
A/N: My first story holy shit. Depending on how much I'm actually going to write I'll make a masterlist (If I figure how to do that lol). Since this is the first time writing a story, please let me know what you think! <3
_____________________________________________________________
Dinner, as always, was awkward. None of the Recoms really know how to make conversation with Spider, both because they’re not used to dealing with a strange teenage boy and because he is still (even though he has only been Spider's father for the first seven years of his life) the boss’s son.
Spider rubs his eye, as it starts to irritate more and more. When Spider was thirteen, he got an infection in his right eye. Because his foster parents were always at work and he didn't want to bother them, he didn't tell them. In the end, this turned out to be a big mistake after he collapsed at school and was rushed to hospital. When Spider thinks back to that day, he doesn't remember much. The only thing he does remember is waking up in the hospital bed. His foster mother sat on the chair next to Spider's bed, typing impatiently on her laptop. While his foster father sat at the table, also behind a laptop. "Great," Spider thought. "Even now they can't stop working." Then he registers a dull ache in his right eye. He slowly lifts his hand to his eye to rub away the pain. A hand suddenly closes around his wrist, guiding his hand away from his face.
"Don't touch your face," says a blurry voice. Spider looks at his foster mom confused. Both his foster parents look at him, Part annoyed, part worried. His foster father stands up, "I'm going to see if I can find a doctor." With that, he walks out of the room. Spider's foster mom speaks up with irritation in her voice, "why didn't you tell us something was wrong, now we're missing a major breakthrough at work-" She quickly falls silent when a doctor arrives. "Hello Miles," says the doctor. "How are you feeling?" "Drowsy," Spider replies honestly. "And confused, what happened?"
"You had an infection in your eye, which caused you to run a high fever and collapse," the doctor said. "You were brought here by ambulance, unfortunately we had to remove your eye, as the infection had already spread far." Spider's remaining eye widens in shock. "What?!" comes out in a higher pitch than he would have liked. The doctor gives him an apologetic look. "Sorry son, I won't beat around the bush," the doctor sits down on the edge of his bed. "Unfortunately we had no choice, your eye was already too damaged and there was a risk of the infection spreading to your brain," the doctor pats Spider on his knee, "As if that makes it better," Spider thinks bitterly. "Besides," the doctor continues, "it wasn't an option just to remove the infection, then your eye would look terrible, now we can get you fitted for a glass eye, wouldn't that be cool," smiles the doctor. "You’re an asshole," Spider decides. "Well not really, I'd rather have my real eye back," Spider replies.
"Awww, is baby Spider tired?" teases a voice from Spider's right, snapping Spider out of his thoughts. "What?" he asks, still rubbing his eye with the back of his hand. Wainfleet looks at him mockingly. "Looks like little Spider needs to go to bed," says Brown, eager for an angry response. Spider still looks at the two confused. "Only little babies rub their eyes like that, Buttercup," Zdinarsk helpfully adds, rolling her eyes.
"Oh!" Spider realizes, "I'm not tired, I just-" He is interrupted by Wainfleet. "Sure, that's what all little kids say when they're about to fall asleep, but don't want to go to bed yet because they want to be like grown ups." There is laughter around the table. "No, it's not like that," Spider protests. "Oh of course kid, that's really convincing," Lopez says sarcastically.
"No, I swear," defends Spider. "I had an infection in my eye when I-", he gets interrupted again. "Come up with excuses kid?" Jokes Walker "My niece used to do exactly that when she didn't want to go to bed yet." Again there is loud laughter around the table. Spider starts to get angry, the only ones not participating are Quaritch and Ja. The former looks amused, while the latter looks at him intensely. Spider shifts uncomfortably under Ja's gaze. "I’m pretty sure he was a medic in the army, that must be why he's looking at me like that," Spider thinks to himself.
Meanwhile, the laughter continues merrily. While Spider is happy to be rid of the awkward silence, he is less than happy that it comes at his own expense. Spider looks pleadingly to Quaritch for help. Quaritch meets his gaze and raises his eyebrow mockingly, as if saying "You're a big boy, aren't you? You're my son, you can talk yourself out of this, you won't get any help from me."
"Great, good father you are, thanks for your help. You're not even helping your so-called son who you supposedly love so much that you kidnapped him," Spider thinks bitterly. Suddenly someone squeezes his cheek hard. "Aww, baby Spider is so tired he can't even pay attention to his food anymore, then look at him, he almost falls face-first into the plate." Spider slaps the hand that belongs to Fike, away in annoyance. The young man across from him gives a cruel grin, clearly taking pleasure in Spider's misery. "Maybe someone should take him upstairs and tuck him into bed," Lopez pouts. "Oh sure, Spider would you rather we read you a story or sing a lullaby?" Adds Wainfleet.
Spider again tries to protest that he is not rubbing his eye because he is tired, but because his glass eye feels very irritated. But again, no one listens to him. "HEY!" Spider yells angrily as he pushes his chair back so hard it topples over. "Spider." Quaritch says in a warning tone. Spider irritably straightens his chair and plops down on it, childishly crossing his arms and glancing angrily at his plate. Out of the corner of his eye he sees Wainfleet, Brown, Lopez, Fike & Zdinarsk grinning at each other, clearly pleased with the response they've been able to elicit from Spider, before continuing to eat in silence, not wanting to draw Quaritch's attention to them. Quaritch, still looking at Spider with a look that promises punishment if Spider lashes out again. The others, who did not participate in Spider's bullying, but happily laughed along, wisely kept their mouths shut.
When Spider's gaze falls on Wainfleet, he suddenly gets an idea. "You know, when I was thirteen I collapsed at school and I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance." he begins, deliberately playing with his food like an angry little child. This one sentence immediately catches the attention of the others, especially Ja, who looks at him intensively again, and Quaritch, with an eyebrow raised.
"I don't really remember what happened, but when I woke up a doctor - he was a huge asshole by the way - told me I had an infection in my eye and they had to remove it." The others scoff, "you look like you have two eyes, kid." Wainfleet laughs.
Spider had hoped for this reaction and brings his hands to his eye. He pulls his eye open with his fingers, hides his eye with his other hand, and pushes his glass eye out of its socket, as he has done hundreds of times before. He feels the familiar pop as the eye slides out of the socket. When he lowers his hands again, he hears several people gasp. Spider rolls his glass eye into the palm of his hand for a few seconds. Then he brings his hand to Wainfleet's face. "See?" he asks mockingly, before taking his eye between his fingers, letting his hand hang over the table and then letting his eye fall into Lyle's full water glass. Everyone at the table stares blankly as the glass eye slowly sinks to the bottom of the glass. It's as if the glass eye had figured out what Spider was up to, because as the glass sphere sinks to the bottom, the eye rotates so that the lifeless brown iris looks directly at Wainfleet.
"Anyone want to see my glass eyes collection?"

headcanons for the gun + goo + crystal + kouji + dg found family agenda
inspired by this lovely post and from watching the anime 💖
×
> in the korean dub of the anime, crystal referred to gun as "oppa" which means older bro basically so in conclusion the found family agenda is real, thank u for coming to my ted talk ^_^
> okay but my headcanon is that gun is proud to be an older bro figure to her and she used to be embarrassed but now she doesnt care lol
> ALSO dg's text to crystal in the anime was so funny?? he sends a vid of 2 highschoolers performing with zero context, only accompanied by a text saying "Interesting!" 😭😭
anyways thanks to that i now headcanon in their silly little group chat together he loves sending random things he finds intriguing, even the most mundane shit
ex:
Tumblr media
(gun usually leaves them on read lol)
> in james's early days, he got a lot of respect from the others but ever since he changed his identity to become a kpop star, they've stopped taking him as seriously
goo: there's no way you want me to take you seriously when yesterday you were hip thrusting to music for the whole world to see
> gun and his awkward ass older brother energy. who is also an asshole of an older brother. he can get snarky with crystal but he never lays a hand on her. he will toss kouji and fistfight goo tho. as for james? he wants to fight him but james always finds a way to escape/de-escalate the situation lmfao
> kouji demands to be given money everytime his siblings ask him for a favor. "what's the big deal, you guys are loaded anyway!!!!"
> he also tries to use his "little brother pass" to get out of situations but it never works. never.
> goo and kouji make lots of deals with bets and mess with each other the most; they also team up together a lot to prank the others <3
> james and crystal 🤝 being the only ones who don't cause trouble in public
> family nights always end with gun or goo or both in the hospital.
james: we're going to eat out at a restaurant together and you two are not going to fight. got it?
gun: ok.
goo: sure, sure~
[they fought that night.]
[cue crystal facepalming, james shaking his head, and kouji watching with amusement as he eats popcorn]
> everyone treating kouji like a little nuisance but being protective when he actually gets in danger 🥺😭😭😭😭
> when any of the brothers cause trouble or something, they always awkwardly approach crystal like she's a mom they don't want to have yelling at them (bc they'd rather have that than actual consequences from charles choi LMAO)
gun: i killed a man.
goo: i may or may not have burnt down a building or two
kouji: um... i fought with the wrong group of hackers..
james: could you please keep it a secret from your dad that im going on vacation?
crystal: i hate you all.

Your father's expression hardened as he took in the scene, his disappointment evident in his eyes. "What in the world happened here?" he demanded, his voice a mix of frustration and disbelief.
You exchanged a nervous glance with Tristan, both of you realizing that you were about to face the inevidentable consequences of your actions. Taking a deep breath to steady yourself, you stepped forward, ready to take responsibility for what had happened.
"We... we had a little... accident," you admitted reluctantly, your voice tinged with guilt. "I'm sorry, Dad. And... Kristan."
"That vase was Kristan's favorite, you know that, right?" You'd never seen your father more livid as Kristan's eyes began to fill with tears. You couldn't believe it, crying? Over a vase?
"Is this because of that grudge against Tristan? Come on, Y/N." Your father's voice sounded disappointed as he interrupted you, his tone heavy with reproach. "I thought we were past all that."
Tristan's voice responded, annoyance evident in his voice. "It's a vase, come on. Can't we just get another one?"
You couldn't help but roll your eyes at Tristan's insensitive. "Of course you'd say that. It was your fault anyway."
"My fault? You pushed me into it!" Tristan turned to face you, anger evident in his face as you scoffed.
"After you said I had an alcohol problem!" You shouted back, your voice rising with frustration. "You know nothing about me, Tristan!"
"Oh really, so you're a stuck up bitch from Manhattan who thinks she's the best thing that's ever happened-"
"Enough!" Your father's voice boomed, silencing the both of you. He took a deep breath, clearly trying to rein in his own emotions. "I don't care whose fault it is. What matters is that you both acted irresponsibly, and now we're left to deal with the consequences."
"Consequences?" You blurted out. "I've had to deal with a lot of consequences, dad. I really can't deal with one more."
"Oh, yes. You can. And you will. I know your mom lets you run your own life back in Manhattan but this is my house, and you'll abide by my rules," your father retorted firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument.
You bit your lip, feeling a mix of frustration and shame wash over you. Your father was right – you had acted recklessly, and now you had to face the consequences of your actions. As much as you wanted to argue, you knew deep down that you had to own up to your mistakes.
"I know that your mom insisted on you having my old car but no, you will not." Your jaw dropped. No car? "You will share Tristan's until we figure this whole thing out. You guys are family now and you better start acting like it."
Tristan's expression was priceless - how looked pissed. But so was yours. "You're not my dad, you can't let him do this. Mom?"
Kristan's eyes met her son's and she shook her head. "He is right," Kristan interjected gently, her voice tinged with disappointment. "We need to address this behavior, and part of that means facing the consequences. Y/N, you'll be living with us for a little bit and that means you have to follow our rules."
"Especially if you wanna go back to New York." Your father added. You couldn't believe this bullshit.
"So what now?" You mumble, not really knowing how to respond.
Your dad shared a look with Kristan before looking back at you. "You and Tristan are going to share a car until you learn how to get along with each other. This is insanity, you two are almost adults and acting like five year olds."
Your jaw dropped. No car? No freedom? Sharing it with Tristan? You suddenly felt light headed. Sharing a car with Tristan was bad enough, but the idea of having to rely on him for transportation was almost unbearable. The thought of being trapped with him and being forced to tolerate his presence day in and day out made your blood boil.
"Dad, you can't be—"
"Enough, Y/N," your father interrupted firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument. "This decision is final. You and Tristan will share the car until you learn to get along with each other. End of discussion."
You glanced at Tristan, the smug smirk on his face only fueling your frustration. You knew that sharing a car with him would be a nightmare, but you also knew that you had no choice but to comply with your father's decision.
"Fine," you muttered through gritted teeth, your tone laced with resentment. "I'll share the damn car."
Tumblr media
Clutching your sweater tightly around you, you stepped out of the house, with Tristan following close behind. The sun was barely out yet and you two had to get to school together, in the same car. Last night, before you went to bed, you decided that you were not going to give Tristan what he wanted from you; a reaction.
The chill of the morning air nipped at your skin as you made your way toward the car. You could feel Tristan's presence looming behind you, his footsteps echoing softly on the pavement.
As you reached the car, you readied yourself for the inevitable tension that would accompany the drive to school. Taking a deep breath, you climbed into the passenger seat and avoided making eye contact with Tristan.
Tristan got into the car with a loud sigh, immediately shutting the door and turning on the car before he turned on the heater. As he began to drive, he turned on the radio and began blasting Country music. You couldn't help but send him a glare, he didn't peg you as a country fan.
You could feel the car vibrating loudly as you drove - this was not a good way to start the morning. "Tristan." You turned your head to face him but it looked like he was too engulfed in the music to notice. "Tristan!"
He rolled his eyes and turned to you. "What?"
You shot him an annoyed glare before turning down the music, causing Tristan to let out a loud groan. "I don't wanna listen to this right now."
"Well, too bad."
"Tristan, we're sharing the car. Don't I get a say in this?" You shot back, Tristan shaking his head.
"No, it was my car first before you decided to push me into a table and knock down my mom's vase. So, no." Tristan began moving his hand to turn up the volume and you couldn't help but smack it away, causing Tristan to groan once again.
"Country music before 8 am should be a damn crime. It is too early for this shit." You reached for the radio dial yourself, switching it to a different station with a pop song playing softly.
"No, Y/N." He switched the radio back to country, causing you to scoff. You waited a few seconds before quickly turning it back to Pop, causing Tristan to glare at you.
"Focus on driving, pal." You teased as Tristan changed the station, again.
"Stop changing the damn station!" Tristan snapped, his patience wearing thin. "You don't get to call the shots here. If you have a problem with the music, you can deal with it because guess what - it's my car."
"Tristan-"
But before you could finish your sentence, Tristan reached over and turned off the radio entirely, his expression annoyed.
"Hey, why'd you do that?" you protested, irritation evident in your voice.
Tristan ignored you, his gaze fixed on the road ahead. "I'm not listening to your shitty music. We'll drive in silence if we have to."
You stared at him, unable to believe his audacity. "You're unbelievable, you know that?"
As you finally arrived at Chilton, you practically jumped out of the car, eager to escape Tristan. You slammed the door shut behind you, not bothering to look back as you stormed off towards the school entrance. Today was definitely not going to be an easy day.
Yesterday, all you had done the entire day was sit in the Dean's office as they tried and figured out your schedule, today was your first real day. You weren't nervous though, you knew half of the people at Chilton already worshipped the ground you walked on because they know you're from Manhattan.
You walked into your first period, trying to exude the same confidence you had back in New York. The students turned to look at you as you entered the room, whispers trailing in your wake. Your eyes immediately landed on a brunette girl, her hair pinned back in a half up half down style and immediately recognized her. Paris Geller, the girl you used to call your best friend. Her jaw slightly slacked as she registered you were back, her eyes widened slightly.
The teacher, Mr. Remmy, greeted you with a warm smile. "Ah, you must be Y/N Cromwell, the new transfer student. Welcome to Chilton."
You returned her smile politely, nodding in acknowledgment despite the nervousness settling in your chest. "Thank you, I'm looking forward to being here."
You immediately walked toward an empty seat and settled in, feeling Paris's gaze lingering on you. The tension in the air was palpable, and you couldn't help but wonder what Paris was thinking. The two of you used to be inseparable, but things had changed since you left for Manhattan.
"As for our upcoming group project," Mr. Remmy announced, drawing your attention back to the front of the class, "you'll need to partner up with one of your classmates, preferably someone nearby." Glancing around, you spotted a girl with black hair and bright blue eyes seated right next to you. She was seated right beside you, and you offered her a smile, which she returned.
"I'll give you a few minutes to discuss."
You guys both shared a glance before you turned your body to face her. "Hey." You began, a smile playing on your lips.
"Hi. So, uh... are we partners?"
"Only if you want to be. I mean, I don't really know anyone else." You let out a nervous chuckle as she smiled back at you warmly.
"Yeah, me too. This is my first week," she explained, her voice tinged with a hint of nervousness.
"Really? Mine too," you replied, feeling a sense of relief that you weren't the only new student. "I'm Y/N, by the way."
"I'm Rory," she introduced herself, her smile widening. "Nice to meet you, Y/N."
After a few minutes passed, Mr. Remmy called for everyone's attention once more. He continued his lecture and you felt slightly more at ease now, knowing that you weren't the only new student. Maybe, today wouldn't be so bad.
The door of the classroom opened abruptly as Tristan walked in, a late slip in his hand. Oh, you've gotta be kidding me.
"Ah, Mr. Dugray, nice of you to join us."
"My apologies, sir, my car wasn't starting this morning." He gave him the slip as he shared a glance with you, a smirk playing on his lips.
He was lying because you were in the car with him this morning, you couldn't believe him. You couldn't help but roll your eyes at Tristan's blatant lie, feeling a surge of irritation rise within you.
You clenched your jaw as Tristan made his way to the back of the classroom, shooting you a smirk on his way. You couldn't believe he had the audacity to lie like that, especially after the morning you'd just endured with him.
By the time the bell rang, signaling the end of the class, you were more than ready to leave. Packing up your belongings hastily, you made your way out of the classroom, eager to put some distance between yourself and Tristan.
You felt someone tap on your shoulder and you looked up to meet Rory's eyes. You gave her a tight smile as she began to talk. "So uh, do you know where any of your classes are?"
You returned Rory's smile, relieved to have a familiar face to talk to. "Not really, I've been sitting in the Dean's office most of yesterday. Why?"
"Well, we have most of the same classes together. I could show you around," Rory offered as she picked up her backpack.
"Really? Thank you, Rory. You're a godsend." You grabbed your backpack as you two began walking to class together.
"So, our project... should we meet somewhere?" Rory began as you two walked.
"Yeah, sure. Where would you wanna go?"
"You can come by my house or yours and we can study there. Or we can go by Luke's, your choice." Rory explained as you continued down the hallway.
"Luke's?"
"Oh, I forgot you're not from here." Rory chuckled, realizing her mistake. "Luke's is this diner in Stars Hollow, it's by my house. They have great coffee and it's usually pretty quiet during the afternoons."
You nodded, intrigued. "That sounds perfect, actually. Let's go to Luke's then."
"Great choice," Rory replied with a smile. "We can grab a booth, get some coffee, and tackle this project together. It'll be fun."
Tumblr media
"Who was that girl you were talking to earlier?" Tristan's voice cut through the silence, pulling you out of your thoughts as he drove in silence.
"That's Rory," you replied, turning to face Tristan. "She's in a few of my classes."
"She's pretty cute." Tristan's mouth curved up into a smirk as you rolled your eyes.
"Yeah, she's nice," you replied, trying to keep your tone neutral despite the irritation bubbling beneath the surface.
Tristan's smirk widened at your reaction, clearly enjoying getting a rise out of you. "So, are you two like, friends now or something?" he teased, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "That's cute."
"Yeah, we are. What's the issue, Tristan?"
"There isn't an issue, Y/N. It's just you don't seem like you'd be friends with a girl like that, you know, the genuine kind." Tristan remarked as he smirked, his eyes fixed on the road.
You fumed at his insinuation, feeling a surge of anger rise within you. "And what exactly do you mean by that?" you shot back, your voice tinged with irritation.
Tristan shrugged casually, but you could see the mischief dancing in his eyes. "Hey, I'm just saying what I observe. You're more of the 'big city, high society' type. Rory seems more... down-to-earth."
"Oh, right." You let out a bitter laugh. "Yeah because you seem like you're the expert when it comes to me."
Tristan's smirk widened at your retort, clearly enjoying the exchange. "Just calling it like I see it," he replied, his tone unapologetic.
You arrived at home and immediately felt a sense of relief wash over you as you stepped out of the car, glad to be away from Tristan's prying eyes and stupid comments. You made your way inside, quickly running up the stairs and going into your room, slamming the door.
As Tristan walked into the door, Kristan shot him a glare. He just shrugged but before he could walk away, she spoke. "Take it easy on her, Tristan."
"What do you mean?" Tristan feigned innocence as his mother shot him a pointed look.
"You know exactly what I mean," Kristan replied, her tone firm. "She's adjusting to a new school, a new home, and she doesn't need your antagonizing. I know you like to push her buttons, but she doesn't need extra stress from you."
Tristan rolled his eyes, but there was a flicker of guilt in his expression. "Mom, I'm just messing around. She can handle it."
Kristan sighed, shaking her head. "Tristan, she's going through a lot-"
"And what about me, mom?" His voice snapped as his expression turned to hurt. He glared back at her before rolling his eyes, beginning to walk up the stairs. "Right, like you're the expert on feelings."

Aita for making my best childhood friend lose her vision?
i (6f) and my former best friend (6f) used to play a game with some other people (who were all losers) all the time. we would capture people and a lot of the time we would kill them to feed my mom. my friend always insisted that we only kill the ones who "deserved" it, but seriously? i mean, if anybody got caught by us, clearly they didn't deserve to play the game, right?! anyway, in spite of my friend's weird moral hangups, it was a lot of fun and i guess you could say we were pretty close.
aaaaaaaanyway, one time i kinda made one of our teammates jump off a cliff and he got paralysed, and sure this sucks for him i guess, but it's not like i actually cut off his legs or anything! and later i even made him a rocket chair to fly around in and fulfill his loser dreams!
but my friend was soooooooo angry at me because it was "mean" and "unfair" or *whatever* that she went and told some creep that i had a thing that belonged to him (which, big deal. just a stupid little ball! it didn't even work properly!) and he got all upset and made it explode in my face, so now my better eye doesn't work AT ALL and i have a METAL ARM. which actually looks really cool, but it doesn't excuse my FRIEND betraying me like this!!!!!!!!
so i used mind control to get her to go outside and stare at the sun and now she's blind. and she likes it!!!!!!!! so i don't really see the issue here (haha see) but apparently that's asshole behaviour. not that it matters to me, because i know what kind of person i am, but i guess i could use more confirmation. (also i killed another teammate but that's not relevant and i got a guy to build her ghost a robot body  so she's basically completely fine and she was being a bitch anyway.) (and we're playing a new game anyway and i'm totally going to rule!!!!!!!!)
so aita for blinding my friend? i don't even know why i'm asking. i don't even care.

mike sighs as he looks around you know how lonely it gets he questions what gets lonely yn asks? dealing with all this trauma by myself I mean nobody understands me and why I blame myself for what happened to Garrett mike says you are not as alone on that as you thought Yn says, looking down
What do you mean? Mike says looking at yn
Do you remember my little brother? yn says oh yeah you had a little brother I forgot Mike replies feeling guilty about forgetting well when I was 8 I had a soccer game out of town and Mom and Dad promised to spend the day with Gabriel at the pizzeria but when I came home afterward the game my brother was gone and we didn't know what happened I blame myself because I should have been there to help him but I was at a stupid game yn says as she throws a rock
Man Yn I'm sorry Mike replies as he hugs you I knew me and you were on another level you and Mike hug for a few minutes Mike looks up at you and says yeah, losing a sibling is tough. It's something I've carried with me for a long time. I never really talked about it with anyone before, but somehow, being with you... it's different. It's like you understand. I can feel a connection between us, a bond that goes beyond just being friends or... something else Mike looks down at the ground I never thought anyone would ever understand me but then you come along a surprise me he continues  I don't know where this will go, or if we're even on the same page, but I want you to know that I care about you. More than I ever thought I could care about someone again. Losing my sibling... it changed me. But being with you, it's helping me heal, in a way. And I hope... maybe we can lean on each other, through the pain and the memories. I can be an asshole sometimes but I promise I will be there for you the same way you are for me and Abby Mike says as he leans for a kiss yn meets him in the middle and they kiss

If I’m There : Chapter Four
Tumblr media
one two three
fluff/language
minors DNI
Okay! If this is your first time seeing this we’re working on a friends to lover to strangers to friends to ??? Developing the budding relationship between Noah and my OFC Natalie - ah young love - but of course to be young and in love is usually to be kinda stupid. This story will soonish take us 10 years into the future and our two love birds with meet again but secrets have been kept and feelings buried away..will true love prevail?? (yeah probably but it’s gonna hurt like Hell first)
————————————
Noah and I spend the weekend listening to music and watching movies. He convinces me to watch a few episodes of Narato, which I won't say I hated, maybe I'll give it another chance if it means that much to him.
Saturday afternoon my mom called and told me she took Kyle to the psychiatrist and they're going to consider medication after a few more meetings and he's promised he will go to weekly therapy. I told my mom I was glad she took him to get checked out but that I was nervous about being alone with him in the house. She assured me that wouldn't happen, she took herself off the night shift rotation and will now only work while we're in school until the dust settles. I told her I would think about it more and call her back later.
I told Noah about the conversation with my mom and he invited me to stay until at least Monday so I had some time away from Kyle. I text my mom that I'll be back Monday after school because I still need more time.
Later when we're watching some random YouTube video Noah turned on while cuddling on the couch, Noah's arm is draped across my shoulder. My hands are wrapped around his waist and my head is resting against his chest. One thing leads to another and then our lips are drifting towards another. What starts as soft pecks changes as I feel his tongue seeking entrance into my mouth, time slows and I allow him to take as much control. Moving his hands up to tangle into my hair as the kiss intensified, I gasped as he kissed down my cheek and onto my neck. He’s pressing soft, delicate kisses over the bruised skin. It feels so good I don’t even know how to stop myself from quietly moaning his name “Noah”
He moves quickly grabbing my waist and twisting us so my back is on the couch with my legs on either side of his hips. Noah is moving back in with feverish kisses and I feel his hips move to push against my own and I’m trying to keep up, my mind is running and my body is heating up rapidly. “Wait” I gasp out in between breaths “Hold on, Noah stop” and with that, he freezes and stops immediately. “Are you okay? Is your neck hurting?” His voice is full of concern.
“My neck is okay, I’m just a little overwhelmed. This is moving a little faster than I - I’m just- Noah. I’m a virgin”
And in my head, all I can think is that this is when it all ends, he’s not going to want to deal with my melodramatic virgin bullshit. I mean dealing with my asshole brother is one thing, but a crybaby virgin. No way.
“I get it. I totally understand” he’s sitting back so I can push myself back, sitting up against the back of the couch with my knees to my chest, feeling embarrassed and so fucking lame.
“We don’t have to do anything you’re not ready for Natty, I’m sorry if I was too forward. I just kind of lose my mind around you” Noah moves to place his hand on my knee. “Natty, look at me baby” I raise my eyes to meet his and they look genuine “We can move at whatever pace you’re comfortable with, sex isn’t what I'm after here” My cheeks must be cherry fucking red.
“Really? It doesn’t bother you?” I ask.
“Bother me? Why would it bother me?” He looks at me confused.
“I just figure most guys don’t want to deal with the emotions and stuff with all that, ya know losing the v card and all” He laughs at that. “I really like you Noah, and I’d like to, eventually, but I’m just not ready”
He rubs his hand over my head moving the hair that fell in front of my face and kisses my forehead. “I really like you too, and I don’t mind waiting until you’re ready. I don’t. I just want to be around you, however you’ll have me”
My heart will likely burst out of my chest.
“I want to be around you too and I don’t mind the kissing, I definitely enjoy that” With that he moves to softly kiss my lips “Okay, kissing? Check.” We smile and laugh softly.
“Do you want to watch another movie? What about Howls Moving Castle? It’s-“ I interrupt him before he finishes his thought.
“Studio Ghibli, of course I know! I love that movie, let’s watch”
We watch the movies cuddling on the couch for the rest of the day, Noah orders a pizza for dinner and we fall asleep on the couch. It must be the middle of the night. I feel myself moving but I’m not sure how, I open my eyes and see a sleepy Noah cradling me in his arms and walking toward his room. “Fell asleep on the couch” he grumbles out sleepily “It’ll totally fuck up by back sleeping there all night”
He places me in his bed and climbs in behind me, covering us with the blanket, and wraps me tight against his chest. A few seconds later he’s back out like a light, I smile to myself and follow to sleep soon after.
Sunday is a blur of homework and Noah writing songs. Nick comes over for a few hours and they work on some stuff together while I finish up my history paper. My hair is in a messy bun and I have my glasses in since my contacts dried out and I forgot to bring my solution. Noah said he would buy some to keep here if I wanted to stay over again another time. He is perfection. I’m working on finishing touches of my paper when I hear a shutter and look up to see Noah taking a picture of me from the other side of the room “Oh my god Noah nooo” I hold my hand in front of my face like a celebrity hiding from the paparazzi “no pictures please” he laughs and moves to crouch next to me and squish our faces together and flipping the camera to take a selfie “okay, say cheese natty”
“Cheese!” I say and he snaps a few in quick succession.
“I’ll send you these right now. Screensaver material for sure,” he says.
He sends me the photos and I chose one to make as my screensaver.
Ending the night in bed, wrapped in Noah’s arms I fall asleep thinking despite the reason I ended up here, this has been one of the best weekends of my life.
Monday comes and as Noah is walking me to my first period AP history class he stops abruptly, I shift my eyes to see what he’s staring at and it’s Kyle. He’s standing in front of my class. Noah’s breathing quickens and he stalks towards my brother with a palpable anger “you shouldn’t be here right now Kyle” he seethes and places himself in between the two of us. “Walk away” Noah warns.
“I’m only here to try and apologize to my sister, this really isn’t any of your business Sebastian” Kyle retorted back with a snide tone.
“If it has to do with my girlfriend, it’s my business asshole” Noah steps closer to Kyle, his height towering over my brother's 5”10’ frame.
“Really sis? This guy? You’re actually together? After everything I told you”
Before Noah can respond I pipe up “Yes Kyle, really. Noah’s my boyfriend. Like it or not, I don’t give a shit. You have no right to question the choices I make, you have no right to come to me after everything YOUVE done and act like you can tell me what to do. Right now, you need to walk away and leave me alone for the rest of the day. We can talk with mom, after school” I worked to keep my voice down but I know we got a few stares during our exchange. Kyle stares daggers between Noah and I “I don’t like it” he grumbles
“I don’t care” I tell him again. “Hate it all you want, it’s not changing the fact we’re together, so get over it or ignore it Kyle. Now please just let me got to class and leave me alone”
“Fine” Kyle stalks away, stomping dramatically down the hallway and I roll my eyes at his stupid antics.
“I cannot wait until I am done with school and farrr away from him” I say to Noah who’s breathing has evened now that Kyle has left.
“Yes, the sooner we can get you out of that house, the better.” I smile at his unconscious declaration. “We huh? I like the sound of that”
His cheeks are a soft pink “Yeah. We.” He gives me a quick kiss and hug before leaving him to head into my class. “I’ll see you at lunch all right? And text me if Kyle shows up again okay?”
I mock salute “will do. See you later”
The rest of the day goes by smoothly, Kyle took my words seriously and stayed away from me for the rest of the day. When I get home I enter through the front door and hear quiet chatter in the living room as I approach. I hear a voice I haven’t heard in years.
My eyes are wide and my jaw opens when I round the corner and see my father sitting next to my mom on the couch with Kyle across on the recliner.
He turns to me and a smile breaks across his face “Hey Jelly Bean, I missed you baby”
~~~~~~~~~~~
Next chapter here!
Lemme say that in the lore I’m creating Noah is already 18 (imma have to go back and fix an earlier part..did I mention this is my first fanfic…)because he was held back in a younger grade and Natalie is 17 almost 18. I’m not writing any smut until their both 18 because it feels weird plus she’s waiting for it to be special ❤️
Am I the asshole for buying one of my sisters-in-law coffee but not the other?
So at the time I thought I was firmly not the asshole but in thinking about it more I might be, so let's let the court of public opinion decide!
A few months after I (early 30s, f) married my husband, we traveled to visit his family including his two sisters, K (early 30s) and C (late 20s) for a week at K's in-laws hunting lodge. My in-laws are upper middle class in the rural West of the USA. K married into money and is a stay-at-home mom. Her married family is so wealthy they own several properties including the 8 bedroom hunting lodge we were staying at when this story takes place. C is also married with kids but her husband does not have the bank account behind him so she and her husband both work to make ends meet and rely on my in-laws to watch her kids while she works.
I am very different culturally from my husband's family. Because I was raised working class and my parents both experienced some pretty extreme poverty and privation as kids themselves, I have a different relationship to money and finances. I graduated college and work in the tech industry, so my current income level is upper middle class. My younger sister lives with me rent free and I regularly pay for her food at restaurants if we're eating out, including buying her coffee if i'm in the mood for it and she's with me. Sometimes, my sister or my husband (who is disabled and does not work) will pick up the tab, but I don't keep score or concern myself with "fairness" or crap like that. As I see it, debts between family don't exist. There were times in college I only ate because my thesis advisor (who knew how poor I was) bought me lunch or gave me food his wife made for me. Even with friends I pay for food for the whole group, and all I ask is that they "pay it forward" when they have the ability, because I'm paying it forward myself now.
Okay, so culture explained, while out on the town with my sisters-in-law, K (the wealthy one) was craving coffee and asked C and I if we wanted some. I expected K to pay for it and said sure, as did C, although she was reluctant and agreed after some cajoling. After putting in the order, K turned to me and said I could venmo her for the drink. I was shocked but thought "oh, I'm just her sister-in-law, so of course she isn't buying me a drink" and because it wasn't a big deal overall, I pulled out my phone to open up venmo. As I was doing that, I overheared C and K talking about how C will pay K for her drink after her next paycheck.
I was livid! I didn't show it or anything, but I couldn't believe that K expected her little sister, who lives paycheck to paycheck, to pay back a coffee. So I told C not to worry about it and sent K money for both my coffee and C's coffee. When K made a joke asking if I'd buy her coffee too, I laughed it off and said no. C thanked me for the coffee, and the conversation moved on from there, even if I could tell K was upset that I didn't agree to buy her drink too. I was so frustrated with K! I know it was probably just a cultural difference between us, but still I wonder - was I the asshole? Coffee isn't that big of a deal. Should I have just bought coffee for all 3 of us?
What are these acronyms?
Overbearing
"Hey babe, change of plans. My stepfather swapped bodies with me again."
I wanted to be mad-- Cheryl throws the best house parties, but I can't exactly show up with a plus one who's thirty years older than I am! No one would ever believe that my boyfriend's stepfather is an overbearing jerk who frequently swaps bodies with his son. Hell, I barely believed him the first time that it happened. "Dammit, again? You're not just saying that, are you?" He just responded with a photo of his current body.
Tumblr media
Yeah, that was his stepfather's body, alright. Another date night cancelled in favor of Netflix and Chill. It kinda sucked, but... it was also the reason that I wasn't actually mad. Brandon's stepfather was an absolute DILF. And as weird as it was, I was slowly getting attracted to his body.
"Guess we'll just have to make the best of it ;)" I said, sending him a reply. He was usually pretty self-conscious about having to be in his stepfather's body, and I can't really blame him. Just a few dates after I had fallen in love with Brandon and his blonde, twink body he showed up like... that. I was probably one of the few people who believed him when he explained what had happened-- I was certainly the only one who stayed around.
"So, what is it this time?" I asked. Frank usually only swapped their bodies if there was something he decided his son wasn't doing correctly. "Did he decide you weren't taking Soccer practice seriously enough, or something?"
"Nah, I don't have a job lined up this summer, and he's convinced I just need to go door to door handing out my resume. I keep telling him it's not the 70's, you apply for jobs online now, not in person. But no, the almighty Frank can't be wrong. I'm just not trying hard enough, and he's gonna keep my body until he gets hired somewhere." I couldn't help but roll my eyes. That was Brandon's stepfather, alright. Such a pompous asshole.
I was able to do some basic cleanup in my bedroom before I heard the tale-tell knock at my apartment's door. "I'm so glad you don't mind," he said, wrapping me in a bear hug. Frank's body was about a foot taller than I was, and I found myself pressed into his musky armpit. "Sorry about the sweat," he said. "I had to spend the day out at the lake. Mom doesn't want to be around either of us when we're swapped like this, and I didn't know where else to go."
It took me a few moments to register what he had said. "Hey, no worries," I said, retreating into the living room to catch my breath. Normally I would have been disgusted, but there was just something so raw, so primal about Frank's musk that was driving me wild. There was no way I would be able to hide this boner! What would Brandon think?
"You don't mind if I make myself at home, do you?" Brandon's question was followed by the soft whumph of fabric hitting the floor.
Tumblr media
I turned around to see Frank's naked body on full display, with a massive cock that was just as hard as mine. "Babe, are you? ...I ...what?"
He flashed a smug grin at me as he turned sideways, accenting the length of his borrowed manhood. "It's a bit over eight inches," he said, giving it a bounce. "I know it's a little weird to have sex with Frank's body, but I've seen the way you look at him. I assume you don't mind?"
I couldn't look away. "I feel like I should care that I'm having sex with your stepfather's body before I'm having sex with your body," I said, tossing my shirt to the floor. "But fuck me, I need that cock inside of me."
------------------------------------------------
"God, I love you," I said, feeling his breath on the back of my neck. I hadn't expected to ever be the little spoon in this relationship-- or any relationship, really-- but it was a nice change of pace.
He kissed my neck in response, sending a shiver up my spine as I felt his coarse beard against my skin. "I'm glad this isn't a deal breaker for you. Frank pulls this shit all the time."
"It's weird, but also... I don't mind?" I said. "It's... actually pretty hot," I admitted, rolling over to stare into his eyes. "One question, though. You said Frank's planning to keep your body until he gets you a job, right? Aren't you spending most of the summer with your bio-dad? Who the hell is going to hire someone for three weeks, tops?"
He responded with a coy grin. "Hmm, you might be right. Guess you'll have to put up with Frank's body for a bit longer."
Who was the worst, snow or coin?
Why?
Thank you. @curiousnonny
This will be a long post! But I have some funny little sentences thrown in there, it's worth it. I can safely say Snow was worse, especially with the prequel in mind but even just counting the trilogy, he's definitely the source of most of everyone's problems. But it's a testament to how annoying Coin was that she can appear in one book and be compared to the main villain at all. I'll explain my perspective on Coin but first Snow:
I think by nature he always had some narcissistic and self-serving traits, since he's an asshole early on in Ballad. I mean, in the first chapter he has extremely weird judgmental comments about how his cousin Tigris might have prostituted herself out since they're heavily impoverished. He's very morally pure, only thinking in black and white. Overall he's controlling in his relationship to Lucy Gray, as he gets jealous over any references to her having previous relationships, and pretends to have empathy for other people but it's surface level. Even his grief over Sejanus lasts a short time, with his only concern being whether or not his mom will still send him cookies. And then with his death he steals Sejanus's entire claim to his family, since Snow is on the verge of bankruptcy if not already there. It's not difficult to see how well he fits into the world of politics from here.
Although Snow was more ambitious than his classmates and rivals, he had just about the same underlying ideologies so I guess in that way he was ultimately a product of the Capitol and represents a lot more in the story. He believes humans are inherently self-interested, and when it comes down to it, anyone would be able to put their own survival above their own morals. It's what he does in the prequel. It's what he believes the Games prove, that the most innocent members of society (kids) are able to turn into monsters.
That kind of viewpoint is in opposition to Katniss's actions, so he's a better direct antagonist than Coin. Like, there's no way any of Katniss's actions could be attributed to pure survival if we're being serious. I know some people like to pretend she's an unemotional survivalist, but time and again she wants to team up with someone's grandma who's nonverbal from a stroke, middle aged computer science nerds, a twelve year old, a recovering drug addict who keeps her up at 3 AM, an alcoholic who trips on his own puke, and a lovesick teenage boy whose bone you can see protruding from his leg wound and leaking pus. She has the option to not tolerate many of these people she just never takes it. It's why the rebels liked Katniss to begin with! When she says she doesn't want Snow to win, she doesn't want his mindset to win. She bets on Peeta not having a flashback and trying to kill her because she believes that people aren't as bad as Snow makes them out to be.
So really I just feel like Snow was always the villain, Coin was more of a side antagonist, a secondary threat for Katniss to deal with after everything's said and done.
We know more about Snow than Coin, and we expect him to be evil as a dictator, so perhaps we may be more surprised or betrayed by Coin committing war crimes when she's supposed to be a rebel leader. But I feel like she wasn't always evil based on what little information we have of her. Just strict, because leading District 13 through an epidemic in close quartered underground spaces was probably rough. The same outbreak which took out her own family (she had a husband and daughter). She uses the same strict set of rules as we see District 13 under when Katniss arrives. This wouldn't be a problem if not for the severity of what it means to break these rules and the lack of equity in the presence of equality.
Like, Katniss has to fight for her Capitol prep team to not be tortured over stealing food. They were being starved in a room by the time she found them. She also has to fight for the victors currently being tortured and manipulated into saying anti-rebellion statements in the Capitol to be pardoned if they even make it safely to 13, no guarantees there, because they wait a few months to try rescuing them. When they do get the victors from the Capitol, Coin and Plutarch try to speed up their recoveries in order to get them back in the public eye to be used as propaganda. This means drugging them and sending them into a war zone against their consent. And that's not even covering Coin's barely disguised attempts to kill Katniss, endangering everyone around her too, then when that fails killing her sister instead because then she'd finally stay out of her way. But of course that doesn't work out.
Coin is very cold-blooded like Snow. Obviously. And she's really a symbol of what's to come if Katniss doesn't nip some of these rebels in the bud. Rebels who haven't even been in danger from the Capitol, by the way, since the people from 13 have been hiding in a bunker for 75 years. Coin, who suggests punishing the Capitol with their own Games, hasn't had to sacrifice any of 13's young to the Games. It's not her decision to make (and it's the wrong one anyways). District 13 is practically a separate country trying to swoop in and take over Panem with an actual civil war between oppressor and oppressed happening.
At a certain point in Mockingjay, Katniss knows Snow dying is an inevitability, the geezer is coughing up blood and swallowing it back with his wine and then taking inconspicuous naps at his desk. A light breeze could come in from an open window and get the job done. So there's no use in her wish of killing him anymore. That doesn't mean he's not as evil, because he's done far more over the years, but I think by Katniss going on a vengeful quest to kill Snow for a large part of the book to ultimately give it up is powerful. Because while Snow was the origin of the evil, Coin would've just continued it if she wasn't stopped. And she had only one arrow to spare.
~~~
Also an aside that Katniss's motivations are mainly for Peeta in Mockingjay. What triggers her to go to the Capitol in search of vengeance is literally what happens to Peeta. She can't deal with it in 13 and she feels useless trying to help him, to the point where assassinating Snow is a more likely goal. What ultimately convinces her to become the Mockingjay is Peeta. I gotta say it!

Your parents always told you that your university years would be the best years of your life. Your mom's love story with your father was so lovely,you always adored them,and the way they've met. You wanted to have the same. You were just shy.
LAMDA. 2012. 09. 1
First day at the drama university,was boring a little bit. You were just sitting on your place by yourself. You didn't really wanted a bench mate. The classroom and everything was so scary. It was like a big labyrinth for you
It's okey,just calm down,you don't look that bad today,no one is going to judge you
Deep breaths just deep breaths,you're in the school of your dreams right now. You wanted this,so now deal with it-
" Mind if I sit next to you? " suddenly a voice intrerupted  your deep thoughts,then you looked up to see a boy standing next to you,with a shy smile on his face.
His eyes are like hot chocolate. Kinda cute you thought quickly because you realised that he was still waiting for your answer.
" No,of course not. "
He grined then put down his backpack and set down next to you. The two of you shared a few glances,not knowing what to say to eachother. Looking around,everyone was talking and laughing with their new friends. You had more 10 minutes until your first lesson started.
" I'm Joe by the way " the boy said,finally breaking the silence,and he held his hand out for you to shake it.
" I'm Y/N. "
" Y/N I like that. Are you from France? "
You slowly nodded,as you waited  his next movement,because you waren't sure if he wanted to bully you because of accent,or just simply wanted to make a converstation.
" Oh nice,I always wanted to go there. Your accent is so cute by the way. " he spoke again and smiled at you."
Present day
" Shit girls,where are you taking me? " you laughed as your two bestfiends lead you with your eyes blindfolded.
" Relax,we're not trying to kidnap you or anything. We're taking you home,but there's going to be a suprise waiting for you. "
" Okey I understand,but I'm so uncofortable to walk around with my eyes blindfolded. Can I take it off untill then?"
" No. " your friend Bianca replied simply chuckling on your inpatient.
LAMDA. 2012. 11. 5
" Okey so the answers are on the top of the card's and on the bottom there's your next question towards the class. Let's see I read the first one. " your teacher said as everyone paid attention so did you.
You waited for the right question to read your answer,but somehow neither of the questions were the right for your answer. Then she started explaining something,which sounded like the answer which could be on your card,but you were not pretty sure about it,so you didn't raise your hand.
Then the teacher started looking around in the class for the card with the answer on it,and when she reached your table,she grabed the card from your hands. " There is it!!! Why didn't you read it? "
And then suddenly the school bully Lucy rolled her eyes " Why am I not suprised? Don't mind her miss,she's just an  autistic. "
That was when Joe slammed his hand on the table and glared at her. " Go and suck soneone's dick,and leave her alone! "
Everyone let out an " huuuuuh " then the teacher's voice intrerupted the tension between them. " Mr. Quinn!! How dare you say that to a girl? You're getting 2 hours detention in the library,maybe it will help you to learn some respect towards them. "
" And the school's slut is going to get away with what she said? She called me an autistic for not being brave enough to read my answer because I was confused. That's doesn't seem fair to me. " you replied raising your hand with a smirk.
" Fine. Then the three of you will get detention. You and Mr. Quinn getting 2 hours,Lucy gets 3. Is this okey? "
" Perfect. " you nodded,then looked over at Joseph who tried to hold back his laugh.

" I swear you're an idiot. Why would you do that? " you hissed as you and Joe walked out from the classroom to the library.
" What was I supposed to do? She has no right to call you that!! " he answered bumping his shoulder against yours slightly.
" But you got yourself in trouble! What will your parents do,when they found out about this? Joe,that's isn't you! "
" I don't care,because like I said before,I couldn't let her get away with it,so I embaressed her. You also got in trouble,so I don't know what's your problem. "
" I've got myself in trouble because  I felt bad! I couldn't let you suffer alone. It was my fault. " you sighed as the two of you entered the library where a teacher was already waiting for you to keep on eye on you.
" Where's the third one? " she asked rudly.
" Probably left. " Joseph shrugged then made his way to the bookshelfs to find something to read.
You did the same,and started looking for Les Miserables wrote by Victor Hugo. You always wanted to read this book,so you felt like now was the perfect time to read it.
As you were sitting next to each other you felt like Lucy was right after all. Wherever you went,you were always bullied and beaten up. You didn't understand why though,but your brain always worked a little bit slower,and you were always panicking. You still had no idea how an autistic person acted though.
" Joe? " you suddenly asked and looked up from his book.
" Yeah? "
" Do you think I'm...autustic? "
He frowned and put his book aside. Suddenly he grabed your hand and squized it to get your attention.
" No ,you're not. See? This is exatly why I did what I did. She wants everyone and even you to think that you're an autistic,but you're not. Believe me,I've met autistic people before,you are not like them. Stop worrying about it. "
When he noticed that you didn't believed him,he nudged your arms causing you to look at him. When you did he smiled and said. " I think you are amazing and adorble. "
And with that, he made you fall in love with him."
Present day
" Guys you know I hate suprises,right? "
You were sitting in a cab between Bianca and Mary. Your muscles were tensed,you just couldn't keep it calm,because of your excitment.
" We're not even sure if you're not going to kill us,after you saw it. " Mary replied.
" Oh god. No. I can't kill you. I would need to pay for your funerals. No. " you answered then you started laughing along with the girls.

You sighed sadly as you watched Joseph giving his girlfriend a rose. You were suffering. It was your fault though. It was your fault that he was huging and kissing that girl and not you. You should have told him years ago how you felt,when all the girls went after that blondie boy who's already gratuated last year.
Joe aged like fine wine,you weren't going to lie. You still had a chance back then,but now it's impossible. You already lost counting on how many times you ended up crying yourself to sleep.
" Hey cutie!! Oh you look sad! What happened? " he asked you when he set down next to you.
You forced a smile then shake your head. " I'm not sad. I'm just not in the mood for all this red and pink maddnes around me. "
" No one's asked you for the Valentine's ball,right? "
You nodded and looked away to blink back your tears. Your heart was already broken,you didn't wanted to make it worse. If he saw you crying then he wouldn't leave you alone unless you told him what's wrong.
" Hey, uhm...I have something for you. "
You turned your head to look at him,holding a ring between his fingers. You raised an eyebrow at him confused. Why would he give you a ring? You were not his girlfriend-
" That's a promose ring. I want you to take it,so we could stay friends forever. I also have one. " he explained and held up his left hand. He had a similar ring.
" Thank you. " you thanked him quietly as he slipped the ring onto your finger.
" You don't need to thank me,just stay with me. "
" Okey. "

You were alone that night,your parents went for a mini vacation together. It was almost 2 am and you still couldn't sleep. You were curled up into a ball on your bed. Some boys did ask you to be their partner at the ball,but you rejected them,because you wanted to go with Joe. You always wanted him,not someone esle.
Suddenly you heard a knock on your door. It was harsh,you got scared a little bit,but you still went to open the it. You expected one of your friends from school,maybe she was drunk again. But then when you opened the door you were shocked.
It was Joseph standing there,in a drunken state. You quickly let him in,then you turned on the lights. His shoulders started shaking,as he let out some quiet sob.
" Hey...what's wrong? " you asked him,as you quickly embraced him.
" She cheated on me. She kissed another boy,right in front of me. In front of everyone,just to embarrass me. " Joe answered burying his face in your neck,and you wrapped you arms around his shoulder keeping him close.
" Hey hush...it's okey Joe. It's okey. I'm here. You deserve someone better. She neved deserved you,I could tell. I promise you that everything is going to be okey.
As you held him close,you kneeled down slowly with him. You had never seen him like this. This girl was his first girlfriend,but unfortunately not the last one. That night,he ended up falling asleep in your arms. You didn't mind at all,because you knew that he needed you."
Present day
" Hey girl do you remember at that cute boy,from London? You went in the same class. " Mary suddenly asked. You were still sitting in the cab.
" Do you mean Joseph Quinn? Yeah I still remember him. " you replied smiling sadly.
" You two were pretty close huh? "
" We were friends,untill...Untill he fucked up. I mean kind of. He called me autistic at a party when he was drunk. I never trusted him again,because you know drunk words,sober thoughts. " you answered sadly.
" You loved him didn't you? "
" I still do. I'm following his career and I'm so proud of him. But I could never trus him again. He broke me,and gived me years of suffering. This is why I left after graduating. I stayed at the party,then came home on the earliest flight. Plus I got a job here,and that France serial helped me to start my career as an actress. " you explained as you felt the car stop.

You were at a New Year's eve party with a few classmates and with Joseph. You were dancing a little,and then you went out with Joseph for a quick smoke. You had to tell him,that you were going to go back to Paris,because your parents were moving back there. You planned on finishing your studies there,and to graduate.
" I have to tell you something. It's very important. " you sighed and blow out the smoke nervously.
" Oh okey. Go ahead. "
" I'm going to go back to Paris. My parents are moving back,and...I want to go with them. I'm going to graduate there. "
" What? " he looked at you confused and shocked at the same time.
" I'm sorry. But I don't want to leave my parents behind and...and I'm missing my friends- "
" What about me? " he intrerupted you. " What about Wes and the others hm? What about us? "
" Joe,I'm so sorry,but I have no choice- "
" Oh yes you do. You could stay there in that house."
" ...and I want to graduate there with my friends and cousins. "
He glared at you,and stubbed out his cigarette,then lighted another one.
" Why are you mad?  I have the promise ring. We're still going to stay friends. "
" Oh yeah? Amazing. That's amazing. " he mumbled in a sarcastic tone.
You folded your arms,and stared in to the distance. Why was he mad? He had a girlfriend,he was happy with her. He ignored you because of her,and skipped your programs which you had together. He also had his new friends. He didn't paid much attention on you,and he didn't protected you anymore,when Lucy was bullying you.
" Stay. I don't want you to go. " he whispered.
" I'll think about it. " you promised just because you didn't wanted to argue with him on New Year's eve.

Joe was vomiting for the third time. He was pretty drunk,and Wesley already tried to offer him water,but drunk Joseph was always so fucking stubborn.
" Do you want some more Martini my love? " his girlfriend asked him and you and Wesley looked at eachother with wide eyes. She was also drunk.
" Mate,you really need to stop drinking. "
" Says who? " he asked as let out a dry chuckle.
" Me for instance! Joe you already vomited three times!! It's enough!! " you answered,and that caused his girlfriend to roll her eyes.
" I think he can decide what he wants by himself. So you can go home freak. "
" Stop pretending like you are that good for him!! Unlike you we care about him,his mom asked me and Wasley to take care of him!! " you fought back,but that really pissed Joe off.
" Oh shut the fuck up!! Didn't you hear what she said? I can decide what is good for me,I don't need you!! Are you that autistic or what??!! "
Tears filled your eyes as you stared at your bestfriend,the boy you adored and loved the most. With that question he killed all your love you had for him. You felt betrayed and left alone. You didn't said anything,just throw at him the promise ring he give you then ran out.
" You are a dick Quinn. You better kick that slut out from my house before I do. " Wesley told him gesturing at his girlfriend,then he ran after you.
You almost reached your car when he caught up with you. " Y/N,please wait!! He didn't mean any of this!!
You turned around with a sad smile then chuckled. " Oh come on buddy. Drunk words,sober thoughts. At least I know that I should forget him forever because he's...he's not the one. "
" I'm so sorry,baby. I didn't expected this to turn out like this. "
" At least it was just the three of us now. I should have left with the others. "
Wesley gived you a conforting hug,and rubed your back. He was really over protecting when it came to you. He was the only one who knew about your love - or ex love - towards Joseph.
" Are you going to move back to Paris? "
" I'm going to stay just for you. My parents told me that if I wanted to stay,they will wait another year with the moving back gladly. I'll graduate then leave this fucking place.
" You are a strong girl. I'm going to kick his balls for treating you like this. "
Present day
Joseph apologised multiple times after this,but you ignored him,and set next to your other friend during class. You slowly pushed you feeling away,and felt a little bit free.
After the graduating party,the only thing you told him,was that you are going to relax and watch movies - and with that you made a perfect excuse, to reject his offer because he wanted to invite you to another party the next day - and maybe look for a job. Then you left on the next day with your parents,without saying goodbye.
But you got scolded a little bit,from your parents for not saying goodbye to him. Your mom really loved Joe,and always told you that you should forgive him. But you were too hurt to do that. You thought that cutting him off would help you to heal. But to be honest it just made it worse,and now it's a 100% sure that you two are not going to end up together,because he's famous now,and meeting beautifull women during Comic Cons and Fan Expos.
" What does this sign mean? " you asked him,after he drawn a sun on your palm with his thumb.
" You are my sunshine. That's how I remind you. " he smiled shyly.
Your face turned red,as you grabbed his hand and drawn a star on his palm.
" Well,what does this sign mean? "
" That means that you are my star. "
You smiled to that memory,as the girls slowly lead you to your bedroom. The familiar scent of your room helped you to calm your nerves. Suddenly they stopped you,and they lifted your arms.
Then you felt two gentle hands grabing yours,slowly pulling you closer to his body.
" Oh so the suprise is a person then,hm. " you noted,while your heart was beating fast.
Something happened. Something terrifying which made you froze. That was when you heard the door closing, alerting you that your friends left the room.
But that was not the scariest thing. You knew that touch. You reconised it even though it's been years since you felt it. But you were not sure that it was really him,so you tested him. You drawn a star on his palm,with your thumb.
Your heart was pounding in your chest as you waited. And then is happened. He drawn a sun on your palm. You took a step backwards from him.
" Go away. I don't want to see you. "
He let out a big sigh,then walked closer to you. You kept walking backwards untill your back bumped in to the wall.
" You only making things worse Joseph. Go away. "
" I know you loved me. And I know you still do. The girls told me everything. " he finally replied.
You ripped off the blindfold from your eyes,then glared at him. You looked at him with your killing look,which you only used when you wanted to scare someone away from you. It usually worked. But not on him.
" You better leave before I kill you. I feel like I could choke you right now. "
" Why are you still on that? I've already apologised multiple times!! "
" Because I know you meant it! You meant every fucking word what you said. You never regreted saying it. Go back to your slu- "
" How can you say that? " he intrerupted you,stroking your palms. " Couldn't you see how much I cared about you? I was ready to sacrifise everything for you. Hell even if you'd ended up coming back Paris for your last year,I was ready to give up everything in London,and follow you. "
" You're lying. " you huffed simply which made him roll his eyes at you. " Why are you here anyway? To make me suffer? Go away! I don't want to suffer anymore!! Please don't ruin my birthday!!! "
"I love you!!! "
Your eyes widened at the sudden change of his tone,and looked away from him. Of course he would say that now that you are breaking down right in front of him. He only said this because he feels guilty. Good move.
" You don't have to say that just because you feel sorry for me. "
He slowly touched your chin with his fingers, then turned your head back,to look at him. Your breath hitched when you made eye contact with his hot chocolate eyes,and decided to listen what he has to say to you.
" Y/N,I never wanted to hurt you. What I said it was horrible,and I wish I could turn back in time,just to fix everything,but unfortunately I can't.  I didn't mean any of that- "
" Drunken worlds sober thoug- "
" No no no,you're going to let me finish it first. And anyways this stupid expression doesn't include me,because I'm not an asshole. "
" Not all the time. " you corrected with a slight smirk.
" You are such a bitch. " he laughed shaking his head. " But I love you. I always knew,that it's going to be you,I just...I'm an idiot. And you are so silly for not telling me sooner. "
" Stop saying this! " you shake your head as more tears filled your already glassy eyes. " Like I said it before,you are just only saying this because you feel guilty because of what you've done! I don't need your pitty. "
" Darling,I know it's hard to believe it,but I'm sure about my feelings this time,and I would never tell you such a serious thing,if it was not true. Sweetheart you are my sunshine,and I love you with all my heart. "
" Please...don't make me suffer. Stop saying it. It's not true. Please Joe,don't say that...don't give me hope. " you begged him,as you slowly sunk down on your knees,sobbing.
You didn't even blinked twice,and he was right in front of you,also on his knees,and held your cheeks between his hands. Your foreheads were pressed together as he wiped you tears with his thumb. At this point you believed him,because he was just holding you,and looking at you lovingly.
" I love you too. " you whispered after five minutes. " so damn much. "
He smiled and kissed your forehead. You smiled back,and wrapped your arms around his neck to hug him.
***
" So did I ruin your birthday? " he asked as the two of you were cuddled up in your bed.
" I hate your timing. " you replied shaking your head.
" I take this as a no then. "
" You are wrong,because you did ruin my birthday. You made me angry,then you made me cry. It's the worse thing which could happen on your special day, you know. " you teased.
He looked at you seriously,and then the next thing you knew he was hovering over you,tickling your sides. You laughed histericaly and screamed as you tried to stop him,but he was too strong.
" Stop!! Joseph please s-stop!! "
" Make me. " he smirked.
" Nah ah. I'm not going to melt under your smirk, you smiley idiot. No chance mate. "
" Too late my love,I already made you melt. And if don't believe me,then I'm going to do it again. Because I still have the promise ring. " he explained as he took it out from his pocket,and held it between his fingers. " the difference is,that you can't take it off,untill I give you a new one,when I'm going to ask you to be my wife. "
" Hmm well planned out plan. But are you sure,I would say yes to you? "
" You better,if you don't want the tickle monster visit you while you're sleeping,and maybe tickle you somewhere else. "
" Joe!!!! " you yelled as your face flushed.
" What's with the red face Y/N? I was reffering at your pretty little butt. "
" You're awfull. "
" But you love me. " he leaned down to give you a quick kiss,and slipped the ring on your finger.
" Yeah. I do. It hurts how much I love you. "
Maybe your uiversity years weren't the best,but you still ended up with the man you truly loved after all. And that was the only thing that mattered.
