I’m honestly just truly loving the evolution/development of Carlos not only this season, but across the seasons. Like, not only did we get professional development with all the detective stuff (which I hope they revisit in the next 3 episodes, even if it’s just to say that he doesn’t want to go for it right now), but I love his own personal journey, too.

I’m thinking back to season 1 where he looked absolutely PRISTINE in every single scene he was in, even the one where he was just casually having a beer on his couch at home. (I guess you could argue that he’s less pristine when he’s lounging on the couch in only his briefs, but there’s still something very put together about his appearance.)

And then at the top of this season they really elevated his perfectionistic tendencies, which were certainly there from the beginning (again, PRISTINE during the entirety of the first season), but it’s been really fun to also watch him break through that need to be perfect all the time. He’s more open with his emotions now, there’s more freedom in his feelings and reactions.

And I TRULY love how that freedom is now also conveyed in his appearance as well. We’ve celebrated the curls ad nauseam, but they really do show how much more relaxed and casual Carlos is when he’s out of uniform. We see him wearing glasses now, often a symbol of vulnerability, we see him SWEAT. I still remember the first time we saw him in a tank top (2x10 bless you) after he spent what we can assume was hours carrying boxes, and yet there wasn’t a drop of sweat on him or a hair out of place. And now look at him! DRIPPING ALL OVER THE PLACE AND CURLS WILD AND UNTAMED. 

Anyway, I don’t really know what the point of this was, but I just would like to personally thank every single person who had a hand in making Carlos Reyes MESSY and REAL and HONEST, this season more than any other. The man is honestly more appealing than ever.
