my prof just explained on the syllabus that he’s included more points in the class than we needed to pass, so we could skip up like?? 20 small assignments/quizzes/participation!! and still get a very high grade!!
the idea was that we could focus on assignments that played to our strengths - only do the participation stuff if we like to talk out loud - only do the quizzes/readings if we want to do the class remotely - only do online discussions if we like to talk and share opinions but struggle with anxiety in class ect.
and that’s cool enough but then he pulled up DnD character sheets with drawings he’d done of these hypothetical student player classes and how our various accessibility needs could be gamified to ‘max out’ different aspects of the class to get high grades and like!!!!!
hell yeah!!!! let’s treat accessibility in higher education not just as a necessity but as the fun, engaging, and creative aspect of learning that it is!!! I love this!!
EDIT: For proper credit or further questions about his system please find my professor on twitter @/kurtishanlon

kinda hate that i'm not 100% recovered from covid and still have a lingering cough but I feel like I can't miss anymore uni without serious repercussions. I'm masking and doing my best to stay away from people but like. for an institution that encourages students to take care of their physical and mental health, university makes it difficult to actually do that

Just your regular reminder to those of you (that’s most of you) not masking because you’re “not high risk” and “don’t have a preexisting condition” that a covid infection is a preexisting condition and you are now high risk.
[ID: Tweet from LizWhatsHerFace @RealGayArbys “Look at this graph. If you're on infection number two or three, your risk of being hospitalized if you get Covid again is VERY heightened. And your risk of a lot of other bad stuff happening is higher too. You need to act accordingly. You likely don't know what number you're on.” Graph showing the impact of reinfections from Covid on hazard ratio from various conditions, US Veterans affairs population. Data comes from a 2022 study published in Nature titled "Acute and postacute sequelae associated with SARS-CoV-2 reinfection." As the study abstract states, the data shows that "First infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is associated with increased risk of acute and postacute death and sequelae in various organ systems."]

I don't understand people who think wearing masks only applies to COVID. As soon as their COVID test comes back negative they stop wearing a mask and it's like... it's not COVID but you're still sick, I would have thought we learned something about the transmission of disease from the pandemic we all lived through.

Isopuppy's got legs for DAYS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just need to get the top carapace on and write up the tutorial, and y'all can make your own Good Dog.
My baby spent most of the morning crawl-chasing me around, desperately pointing at the pupper to be allowed a hug (which she was finally granted just before nap time when I got the back seam closed, and she hugged it So Hard, then gummed those antennae real good). Toddler is demanding he be allowed to sleep with it tonight. So isopups are VERY snugglable, is what I'm saying.

Tim had his spleen removed, right. This means he would not be able to withstand bacterial infection as well (a.k.a. getting sick, which happens a lot when people get injured or sleep deprived cause their immune system weakens), so for his own safety, he would likely take care of himself more than the other bats would care for themselves. He probably wouldn't get in a fight he knows he would badly lose, or win but get very injured during. Tim would be the calm and calculating one. He already is deemed as smart and a great detective, so that makes him even scarier.
He gets a reputation as a vigilant far more dangerous from his siblings, cause he perches like a bird above the fight, but if he gets involved, then the villains know they're goners. If it's Dick, Jason, Steph, Cass, even Damian and Batman himself, people don't get as intimidated, but should Tim come in, they back off so fast. In this essay I will...

Y’all really out here going “Capitalism is a scam! The government is lying to you!” - while walking around unmasked during a deadly pandemic because the government told you it was totally safe to go to work and out shopping and out to eat because we need to keep the economy ticking over.

About covid being over: are we just meant to put our entire social lives, our entire society on pause forever? My mental health plummeted during lockdown and will take years to recover. Now that there's vaccines and crowd immunity and less deadly strains we ARE meant to learn to deal with it as a given, the way we have with many deadly diseases in the past, and move on. So for the sake of life moving on at some point it's **normal** to treat it as a cold, and I'm saying this as someone who's lost people during the pandemic too. Please do not fear monger.
No, but you SHOULD care about other people enough to still mask.
I am NOT fearmongering.
Covid is still dangerous, especially to the many MANY people who are immunocompromised and people who cannot get the vaccines (for whatever reason).
I know several people who THIS YEAR caught permanently disabling covid, despite all being fully vaccinated.
I am not saying you have to quarantine yourself anymore. That was NOT a thing I said. There is a world of difference between wishing that other people cared enough to MASK, a thing that is NOT HARD AT ALL, and demanding that people still observe full quarantine protocols.
Plugging your ears and closing your eyes and refusing to listen when people are still justifiably worried, and not listening to experts that haven't been pressured by the government to say 'COVID IS NOT A THREAT ANYMORE YAAAY!!!' just makes you a fool.
I know that's harsh, but it's the truth.
Hospitals are no longer required to report covid cases and covid deaths as such. This is a GIANT RED FLAG that people are happily ignoring so they can feel safe.
