Kaeya, Diluc, Arlecchino, Childe, Dottore, Pantalone, Neuvillette and Zhongli telling reader to sit still while they finish work and her replying with “Come over here and make me.”
They could not make me actually!
Pairing: Kaeya, Diluc, Childe, Dottore, Pantalone, Arlecchino, Neuvillette, Zhongli x Fem!Reader
Tags: fluff, established relationship, kissing, being held down, sitting on their lap, late night work, distractions, flirting
A/N: I was debating weather to write smut or fluff. Fluff won.
Tumblr media
1. “Come over here and make me.”
Kaeya will gladly take a break for a while to indulge his cute girlfriend. he told you to wait for him but he didn't think it would take that long. The break for kisses will make it last even longer. But at least you won't be fussy anymore, which is a good thing then.
Diluc checks on you every once in a while but he didn't expect your boobs in his face the next time he looked up. He ignored your warning so now you're here, sitting down in his lap and making it impossible for him to work. And yes, this is his fault.
Childe takes you up on that challenge all too eagerly. Truth be told he was looking for an excuse to stop working and you just gave him the perfect one. How can he work with you looking at him like that and tempting him to come forward and kiss you breathless.
Dottore agrees to do just that, he didn't have you as his girlfriend for nothing. You remind him to take breaks, before his body breaks that is. Without you he'd be stuck in his lad for days, months even, you deserve a reward in form of as many kisses you you want.
Pantalone feels sorry for asking you to wait for him. If he knew it would take this long for him to finish these reports he wouldn't have asked you to wait for him. Now you're bored and distracting him, he's not getting out of this office without stress release, for you both.
Arlecchino tells you to watch your bratty tone, you know she's not above disciplining you. It's like you enjoy pushing her buttons, seeing long it takes for her to walk over to you, make you choke on her gloved fingers. You need to learn to do as you're ordered.
Neuvillette looked up at you with wide eyes and pink ears. That tone is very familiar to him but you never had it in his office. Whatever you're thinking isn't gonna happen because he needs to work and he will hold you down with his tail if he has to.
Zhongli beckons you closer, the exact opposite of what you asked for. As soon as you're within his reach he pulls you onto his lap and kisses your neck, whispering that you should stay still if you don't want any accidents to happen. You almost got caught once before.

Just a little thought... (aka prompt)
cw: bad parents Jack and Maddie Fenton, mentions of neglect/abuse, social services
As a teacher in the US, Lancer would be a mandatory reporter. This means if he reasonably suspects abuse, he has to report it or lose his job/be fined/etc. And suddenly Danny is in his class. Danny, who after the accident, is suddenly doing poorly in school. He always seems tired too. And Lancer knows Danny was injured the other day. And then injured again and again and again... more than a 'active teenager' should be.
Unable to find any reason anymore but abuse, Lancer reports the Dr. Fentons.
They fail before the social worker is even in the house when the defensive weapons (what do you mean defensive weapons) target Danny. And then there are the guns and experiments and dubious food. When Danny is taken, despite his protests, to the doctor, they find the scars.
Danny, haltingly, half honestly, admits there was a lab accident.
Now the thing is, Amity Park doesn't have a lot of foster families and none of them have room. Aunt Alicia can't even be contacted- she's off in the wilderness- and some past legal trouble (protesting can get a bit extreme sometimes) excludes her anyways.
Lancer doesn't know why he's doing this. Oh gods is he really doing this? But he's always had a soft spot for the Fenton kids. He dosen't know everything, but he's heard there were scars- signs of serious trauma. And so suddenly Lancer has two foster kids, which he... doesn't know how to handle. Staying in the town where their abusive parents regularly make the 'weather' report seems cruel, so Lancer moves back in with his mother... in Gotham. He could use the help and his mother always wanted grandchildren. She accepted him, Lancer knew, but him being aromantic had still come as a bit of a blow in that department.
Jason, for his part, really, really likes the new English teacher at Gotham Academy. The guy curses in literature. Jason is so stealing that as Robin!
It's the new kid in his class makes Jason flustered in a way he doesn't understand. Just why can't he stop thinking about Danny?

Friendly little post of what to expect from the Chinese GP next week!
Our 1st of 6 sprint races this season:
Drivers will have 1 practice session to get acquainted to the track before the sprint shootout(quali). Next day, we start with the sprint race and then move onto the actual qualifying. Finally, race on Sunday as usual.
What does this mean?
If an accident or issue happens on track during the FP session, drivers will lose out on the only practice time they have. Drivers also must be careful not to damage their cars in practice or the sprint race lest they run the risk of not making either qualifyings. This will be extremely important for the three teams who don't possess a spare chassis.
Surface repavement!
The track surface has been repaved in order to prevent any unwanted bumps in the track from hurting these cars and provide a smoother ride.
What does this mean?
Any possibility of rain can make the track super dangerous, paired with the absolute lack of rubber on the track these cars provide. A repaved track can be your gateway into red flagged sessions over track issues or accidents if a driver pushes a bit too hard on a low rubbered area of track.
Note: the rubber that comes off the tyres are essential for grip, hence why you see faster times being posted later in sessions as more rubber is laid down and grip rises.
An interesting and for a few, new, layout!
China is a very interesting circuit with 2 long straights, two slow speed and tight first turns, and very few true high speed turns. On top, there is only 2 DRS zones placed back to back with the straights really close to each other. On top of this, 4 current drivers have not ever driven this track before (minus sim). Those drivers are Oscar Piastri, Logan Sargeant, Yuki Tsunoda, and Zhou Guanyu (not only his home race, but his home city race as he is from Shanghai!). No reserve driver besides Antonio Giovinazzi of Ferrari has driven this circuit either as Mick Schumacher just missed out due to covid.
What does this mean?
The teams that lack straight line speed may struggle significantly within the first few laps before the back essentially falls apart if they are not able to utilize the 16 turns as their aid. On the contrary, teams who may be stronger at straight line speed could see the turns really hurt them and they'd need to utilize these two straights to the best of their abilities.
However, the most important part about this track is the first and last turns. Usually you'll always see action within the first few turns of a track. At the Shanghai circuit, turns 1-3 is a very tight hairpin-esque turn which not only curls in on itself before turning to a tight turn the opposite direction, it will maybe be the first place we see any action or even none at all. However, our last 3 turns may also be of interest as well. Turn 14-15 is a combined turn like the first 3, however not as tight. This means that this is essentially the hairpin on the track and if a driver makes a move further down the long straight, their approach and exit out of this turn will cement their position, at least for the time being. Turn 16 is a somewhat sharp turn that will see any finishing or comeback moves for the hairpin, especially since the DRS detection point is right before the turn. At the end of this tiny straight, as well, is the pit entry where we could see drama arise with any miscommunication if there is any (it is the more extended out version of the Belgian/Spa pit entry).
Weather forecast?
Currently, it's too early to tell with conflicting reports of either up to 70% rain for the whole weekend, 55% for Friday and Saturday, and a dry weekend.
What does this mean?
Well, we have yet to see how any car performs in wet weather with comparisons to each other, especially because if a practice session is wet but a race isn't, you're less likely to see cars leave the garage. Unfortunately for the teams, this won't be possible in China due to the fact the surface is new and for 4 teams, the track is new to the driver as well.
Speaking of new surface, any rain could make the surface extra slippery than anticipated due to the fact standing water and a track not worn in yet would make it's appearance.
Keep an eye out on the weather as we get closer!
Extra info!
There haven't been any ground effect era cars to ever race this circuit meaning no driver knows exactly what to expect from their car's performance on this track.
Alexander Albon, Lando Norris, and George Russell have only driven on this track once meaning that McLaren and Williams are the least prepared driver wise as both Albon and Norris have teammates who've never driven the circuit before.
China has a lot of grandstands which they don't use for people and instead advertisement because they didn't have enough people attending. Look out for some interesting advertisement placement!
Zhou Guanyu will be the first Chinese driver to take on a Chinese circuit in F1! And not only was Zhou Guanyu born in China, he was born in Shanghai which is the very city this track is held in. This means him and Charles Leclerc are the only drivers to be able to race in the city they were born in. (Edit: Completely forgot that, yes, Oscar Piastri and Lance Stroll both have a home city race)
There is a lot of talk buzzing around in the paddocks surrounding seat changes and whatnot. There may be more news after the 2 Chinese races.

Gone Too Young _ Part 4 = Collab
[Human & Demon!Alastor x Male BFF!Reader] - Platonic
Part 1 — Part 2 — Part 3 — Part 4 (here)
My collaborator: @blubugg13
Tumblr media
As the two of you got older, you had more jobs on your agenda and Alastor was busy with his internship at the local news stations so he could get a feel of being a news reporter, later a radio host, just as you suggested
You knew him well, turns out he does like the thought of being a radio host, he had the idea of you being his co-host or a guest from time to time, even an assistant! That way, your job is stable enough and he would be able to help you finanically whenever you needed without you complaining like you do now
His mother had the better idea. Adoption. While you were off the list, surely you’d make an exception when it was his mother was wanted to do it. He could see as clear day that you had a soft spot for his mother. Hard to reject motherly love, he’ll agree. It was your Christmas gift, you’ll have a family
You never showed up to the secret meet up you two arranged. Alastor waited under the freezing cold, the streets were a buzz, he watched families go up and down. Perhaps you were working a bit later, you did say you might not be able to make it and apologized beforehand. He waited a bit longer. You still didn’t show up. He had to return home
He didn’t know, the ambulance that he passedby carried your deceased body
Christmas day came by, you weren’t there. The orphanage cancelled the adoption plan his mother registered. Before they agreed! They said it would be the perfect surprise even! Everyone was in on it but you
Something in his gut told him, something’s wrong. He ran to the orphanage and asked for you, maybe you were sick and couldn’t tell him. Yeah. When he got there, he wasn’t allowed entry, the director came to the door personally to inform him you leave town for an internship, some wealthy businessman offered you that and you took it and left
“When will he be back?” Alastor recalled asking.
Yet there was no solid answer.
“A few days, I’m sure.” Your sister figure answered without looking at him. He caught her outside while shopping.
“I think like a month. Not sure.” Your coworker shrugged.
“He’s sleeping though.” One of the little ones you take care of spoke when he sneaked into the orphanage to see you.
“Maybe never, you never know.” One of your employer said.
“Stop asking for him! Mind your own business!” The director stopped him in his tracks.
But you were his business. He was your best friend and you were his. Why can’t he know where you went and when you’ll be back? Why does it feel like everyone but his mother and he know something about you?
Then he caught it while listening in on some workers chat while taking a break outside the last factory your worked at. The horrifying truth of your disappearance
“That kid Alastor’s back?”
“Yeah, he’s asking about him again.”
A sigh. “Can’t we just tell him what happened? It was an accident.”
“Are you crazy?! Who would want to know their friend ended up like that?!”
“Besides, the orphanage director already said to keep quiet about it.”
“I mean, it’s brutal.”
“I’ll say. Getting your arm rolled into the machine like a piece of meat, then die from blood loss.”
“I still get nightmares from that day.”
“Christmas day horror. It was even worse for that guy that accidentally bumped into him, right?”
“Yeah, Joe quit his job and just disappeared.”
“But I heard he was a roadkill somewhere.”
“Wow, that’s like karma.”
“Crazy sh*t happens everywhere…”
Alastor never ran that fast in his life. His smile fell and tears rained, the weather seemed to echo with the truth he learned, it rained, poured heavily. He ran into the forest and screamed till his voice gave out
No way… No way. NO WAY. NO WAY! NO WAY IN HELL!
He clenched as he fell to his knees. How could they keep such a secret to him? Everyone. Every one of them lied to him. Because he was some kid. Because you were just an orphan? Why? Why didn’t anyone tell him?
Unlike the others, he told his mother the truth he learned. Those adoption papers that sat on her desk in the study room were put away into a drawer, locked up. His mother soon fell ill from griefing and the shock, passing soon after then
Now when he walked the same roads and saw the people you helped, he saw red. That rage boil within him. Who knew and didn’t care? Who ignored your tragic death?
Without anything to ground him, he only had his job as the new radio host. A grand start!
“Welcome, everyone! I am Alastor, now your new radio host! You might have remembered me from other channels when I was still a young lad, haha! I’m here to stay! But regrettably, I have to start with recording some distrubing and tragic news. There seems to be a killer on the loose. So everyone be sure to lock your doors and windows at all times, you never know when the killer will strike.”
Tumblr media
Note: A bit short but... That concludes the parts for the human Alastor and Reader~ Next up are the ones for the demon version and in Hell~

You Owe me a New Desk
“I know I sprang this on you—” “Because you knew if you didn’t I would say no,” Kara said hotly, wondering if she had also purposefully chosen to tell her at the DEO to stop her from making too big a scene. She glared at Alex, hoping to see a hint of guilt on her implacable face, annoyed when she found none.
“It's dinner, Kara. you act like I’m trying to marry you off,” Alex said, arms already crossed over her chest, having expected resistance and prepared accordingly.
“Not yet, anyway,” Kara replied, shaking her head again, her hands still on her hips, fingers digging in to stop her from mimicking Alex’s pose, knowing she would cut a far more intimidating figure. “But at the rate, you’re going …” “It is one date,” Alex said. She snaked her right arm free and held up her index finger, although Kara suspected she would have much rather held up the middle one. “You don’t even need to think of it as a date. Think of it as a night out.” “A night out,” Kara repeated. “Yeah. Do you remember those?” “I missed a few game nights,” Kara said, her already fraying patience dissolving to nothing as they slipped back into the same quagmire they had been stuck in for months now. It seemed no matter what topic, whether it be something as banal as the weather or a metahuman attacking downtown like all roads lead to Rome. Every conversation with Alex always led back to Lena and how (in Alex's words) she needed to move on. As if it could ever be that simple. Although to everyone else it certainly seemed that way. Life for everyone else had simply seemed to have gone on. As if Lena's sudden absence was something that had happened a long time ago.
There had been a few desultory outings where the conversation often lagged and some of the takeout that normally disappeared so quickly remained untouched. She remembered a game night that had fizzled out after a brief game of Exploding Kittens and turned into an impromptu movie night that had been something Kara had needed to get through rather than enjoy.
But the group (minus Kara) had found their footing soon after that. Karaoke where lyrics were belted out (oftentimes offkey) and at the appropriate eardrum-shattering decibel. Game nights filled with laughter interspersed with the occasional howl of indignation when someone invariably pulled too far ahead in points or when a house rule had been broken whether on accident or on purpose.
Kara had watched it happen in a state of incredulity, bearing witness to the speed at which things had returned to normal for everyone else, at how fast their fractured circle had closed in reaction to Lena's absence. Life had simply gone on for them. But not for her. And seeing her friends joke and laugh, and have spirited debates over who out of the group would have the best chance of surviving a zombie apocalypse and what were the superior pizza toppings, turned her incredulity to white-hot anger. Anger that had all the forethought of a bull in a china shop. It rampaged around in her chest, seeing red everywhere, looking for something to smash, to gore. It was why she had eventually stopped going to game night, (even if all she had done since Lena’s absence had been to act as a scorekeeper).
“You’ve missed six,” Alex countered “Six then.” “And every time someone tries to make plans with you, you always find an excuse not to—” “Me being busy is not an excuse,” Kara fired back and gave her cape a hasty flutter, drawing attention to it the same way a magician might before attempting some sleight of hand. In truth, it was an excuse, but with how busy she had kept herself, it would have been hard to accuse her of lying. She had practically begged Andrea for more work, happily snapping up whatever puff piece or blogpost that she threw her way. Andrea had been far too happy that her Pulitzer-winning reporter had suddenly come around on soft news after being so vehemently against it to question why she was now more than happy to pen an article about ‘What your favorite kind of tea says about you’. She had also redoubled her efforts as Supergirl, spending more of her time patrolling the city. Anything to keep busy, to keep herself distracted. Not that it was ever enough. “You can take one night off, Kara…” Alex let out a sigh that sounded like it had been kept under pressure for a very long time, almost a hiss as her gaze that had been so steely just moments ago softened. “I know this has been hard…” No, you don’t.
“I know you miss her.” “I don’t miss her!” Kara shouted. The ensuing silence and the feeling of suddenly being watched as everyone in the room turned to look in her direction made her cheeks burn. Doing her best to ignore the fact that to the others in the room, she and Alex had become the only two players on the stage of a sold-out show she stalked forward so that she could lean close enough to whisper to her. “Kara…” “I do not miss her,” Kara murmured. She pressed a hand flat against her forehead and let it slip over her eyes briefly like a shroud. In the transient darkness, she saw herself. Not a perfect reflection but her as she had looked trapped in the Fortress’ defenses that Lena had reprogrammed on the fly. Defenses that had been put in place originally as a Luthor failsafe… “Okay,” Alex said placatingly. “You don’t miss her. After what she did to you—” And what did we do to her? Kara thought, the image of herself fading from her mind’s eye as she let her hand fall back to her side. “Can we not, Alex? Please?”
“Why don’t you head home for the night?” Alex suggested as if she wasn’t the reason that Kara had stopped by the DEO in the first place instead of heading straight home after her patrol. “Just think about it, okay? The date… or not date.” “Yeah,” Kara said, already beating a hasty retreat towards the door. She could hear the indistinct whispers of some of the agents in the room as clearly as if they were whispering into her ear instead of someone else’s, ignoring the looks of concern on many of the faces she passed.
I’m fine, she told herself. She repeated that to herself with each step like a prayer. And when she had put the DEO behind her, had flown up high enough so that the city below had become a bed of glittering jewels, she repeated it aloud with the same quiet desperation one might have when earnestly wishing on a star. “I’m fine.”
Kara wasn’t fine. How could she be when there didn’t seem to be a single potsticker in all of National City? She had tried all of her usual places and been turned away for one reason or another at all of them. Catching them as they were closing for the night, being swamped with orders, and just being plain out of food (although Kara could have sworn she smelled something cooking in the back).
She had however been offered an apology each time she had been turned away. Five apologies of varying sincerity did little to blunt her disappointment at being denied one of the few things that might bring her a tiny bit of comfort. It wasn’t until she had returned home defeated that she realized how strange it had been that every place had known her by name. Not that she didn’t frequent any of them enough for them to know her name, but she knew for a fact that none of them did. She had been a regular customer by virtue only, always having to give her name (sometimes several times) whenever she picked up an order. Not that she minded. But it had been odd to suddenly become a known entity at all five restaurants. Even stranger that a few of them had done a very noticeable double-take when she had walked in as if they had been expecting her.
The words: Could this day get any worse? trembled on her lips when she collapsed onto her couch, still in her Supergirl suit. She didn’t dare speak them aloud, though. She knew better than to tempt fate. Knew from experience that life could turn on a dime and be unimaginably cruel. Krypton’s destruction. Having to watch her home be destroyed before her eyes and at that moment (and for a long time after) a selfish part of her had wished she had been destroyed along with it.
Compared to that, how could a squabble with Alex and being denied her favorite food ever measure up? Only, she knew it wasn’t just that. It was being faced with the fact that her passion for journalism, something that had fulfilled her in a way that Supergirl never could, had seemingly vanished and her attempts (that had become more and more desperate) to recapture it had only made her more sure that it might be gone for good. It was the distance growing between her and all her loved ones and how little she seemed to care as she watched it happen. It was the unimaginable bitterness that ate away at her like acid from how she had hurt Lena and how Lena had hurt her. It was how at times there seemed to be no bottom to her pain. It was the recurring nightmare she had frequently of being back in the Fortress. Watching Lena disappear into the portal with Myriad. Trapped once more in that glittering cage. Even the most vivid of nightmares couldn’t replicate the pain of kryptonite, but what it could do was convince her sleeping mind that she was trapped there. Trapped with no way of escape. And when she woke up drenched in a cold sweat, she wasn’t sure whether she was in her bed, in the Fortress, or back in the Phantom Zone…
“It’s the potstickers,” she muttered. Her stomach gave a very loud rumble a few moments later, making it that much easier to pretend that’s all it was. She had plenty to work with in her fridge. At a quick glance with her X-Ray vision, she saw leftover pizza, Thai food, and half of a burrito that looked about the same size and general shape as a small anaconda. But no potstickers. “Maybe if Alex didn’t invite me to the DEO under false pretenses to set me up on a blind date,” she muttered, finding it easy to imagine a scenario where if she had arrived only ten minutes earlier her favorite place wouldn’t have run out of food. That very likely outcome annoyed her almost more than Alex trying to dictate her love life. Lena would understand. The thought was like a bolt from the blue, too quick for her to stop herself from thinking it and too ingrained in her to be surprised that she had. Lena had been the one she had always gone to when she wanted to vent, especially if it was about Alex. She had always seemed to know when Kara simply wanted her to listen to her vent and when she wanted advice. Something that Alex still hadn’t mastered. While she meant well, Kara thought she approached helping her with all the subtlety of a wrecking ball at times. Her hamfisted attempt at getting her out of her funk by setting her up with a stranger was evidence of that.
Alex is being so annoying today! You wouldn’t believe what she did. She actually tried to set me up on a date!! Sometimes she just needs to mind her own business!! And every Chinese place in the city is out of potstickers. And when I say ‘every’ Chinese place I mean every single place. I checked them all.Writing the text was cathartic, the modern-day version of writing a letter that you had no intention of sending. The relief would be fleeting, of course, although Kara had no idea just how fleeting.
She had tossed her phone aside and begun taking mental stock of what she had in her cupboards and fridge, trying to figure out what to do for dinner when her phone chirped weakly from underneath one of her throw pillows.
She swiped her finger lazily over the screen and felt her stomach enter freefall.
“Oh, no no no no…” Kara squeezed her phone hard enough to produce an ominous cracking noise that made her drop it directly onto her face. Flinching, she let it slide down into the crook of her neck before scooping it up, careful not to crush it (regardless of how tempting that sounded at the moment).
She dragged her index finger over the screen and stared open-mouthed at the message she had never meant to send, but had done so anyway. She let her eyes unfocus and slowly zero in again as if that might make the message disappear.
When her vision sharpened again and she saw the message was still there, Kara let out a low moan, wishing she could have willed it out of existence through sheer desperation, certain that if such a thing were possible she would have no trouble at all pulling it off.
But it was the message just below it that made her do a double-take.
I couldn't care less about the potstickers, but please, do go on about how awful Alex is…
The message was so unabashedly Lena that Kara had no trouble imagining her speaking the words aloud, the imagery so vivid that she could have sworn she heard Lena's voice echoing in her head.
She stared at it a moment longer before she typed out a very hasty, I'm sorry, not sure what else she could say. Her thumb hovered over the send button, a bitter smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. That wouldn't get a response. She was certain of that. Not when the other apologies she had sent had never once elicited a response from Lena. The apologies she had agonized over sending in the first place and regretted on the days when her anger at Lena outweighed the pain of missing her, of hurting her.

🎵 A Commuter’s Trip (The Commuter OST) by Roque Baños
🎵 Hello Stranger by KAI
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hygge (n.) | Danish
“the feeling of calm, comfort, and contentment evoked by life’s simple joys”
Nanami had a simple routine. Wake up at 6, shower, get dressed, eat breakfast by 7:45 and be out of the door—at the latest—a minute before 8. He had everything calculated to the T. If Nanami had been a minute too late—let’s say 8:01— he would miss the morning train and therefore be late for work, and he was never late. He had taken into account all contingencies i.e. a train delay, traffic, inclement weather, and made sure he was prepared for any and all possibilities.
That’s why, much to his chagrin, he was “Employee of the Month” every month since he had been promoted from associate to advisor. Most workers would’ve taken pride in that, felt their presence valued at their company. But Nanami didn’t care much for awards or titles, in fact, he just hated working period. He made sure to always clock out at 6 p.m. on the dot. One minute more would be overtime and he didn’t want to give his thankless job a second more of his labor.
When he left work, he always went straight home. When his head hit the pillow and he closed his eyes, thoughts about the next day would drift into his mind.
Did the market close up or down? What reports did he need to finish? There’s a client meeting coming up; the presentation deck needs to be prepared… Just two more days. Get through two more days and it’s the weekend.
And so on and so on. Wash rinse repeat.
He presumed this endless cycle of corporate monotony would continue until the day he turned 40, after which he could retire and live modestly in a country like Malaysia or the Philippines to catch up on all the reading he missed. Perhaps even find a nice woman and marry her while he was there.
The marriage part was new—an afterthought after years of daydreaming—and he didn’t really think much about the kind of woman he wanted to marry. What she looked like or what she did was more of an amorphous thought, a vague idea in his mind.
Until her.
He met her by accident. Nanami had been cooking, a hobby he only indulged in on the weekends, and he was just in the middle of making a rolled omelet when he heard a loud thump outside his door.
His apartment building was more of an office building which meant that his floor didn’t get much traffic. The people who rented rooms were not really tenants who lived there, but workers looking for an extra workspace.  He had assumed the thump to be a delivery man outside his door so, naturally, he was surprised when it wasn’t the post, but a foreigner woman standing outside the room next door.
The woman had a heavy bag of groceries balanced in the crook of her arm and another by her feet that he presumed had been the source of the sound. When they made eye contact, he had been so startled that he quickly closed his door. The apartment next to his had been empty for months, but it looked like it had finally been rented out.
He thought nothing more of it until her very presence began to infiltrate his well-maintained routine. Every morning, if he was quiet enough, he could faintly hear her humming as he got dressed. Other times, he could hear upbeat jazzy music on the weekends if he opened his window.
Every night, he was surrounded by the fragrance of whatever she seemed to be cooking. Most of the time it was sweet, other times it was savory. It wasn’t an unpleasant aroma, just noticeable to the point where its absence would feel strange. There were days when they would leave for work at the same time, though oftentimes he would end up holding the elevator door open for her when she left her apartment a few minutes after he did.
In the brief moments they encountered, Nanami made small observations about her: She was an American. Beautiful. Unmarried—Americans wore rings on their ring finger to signify marital status, he’d noticed she didn’t.
He couldn’t infer her job or what exactly brought her to Tokyo in the first place from her appearance alone, however. He’d seen a fair amount of young foreign teachers in the city. He wondered if she was a teacher. She looked young enough. A missionary? She dressed modestly and wore sensible shoes. Her curly hair was often tied into a low bun. From the very slim list of what young American women did for work in Tokyo, he decided on teacher and his curiosity was sated.
One day he found out. After a long day of work, he walked his usual route from the train station back to his apartment building but was redirected due to construction at his usual subway exit. When he alighted from the escalator he was on a different street entirely. The extra few minutes from this detour would undoubtedly cut into the time he’d set aside to unwind, and subsequently, he’d have to make a few adjustments to still get a full 8 hours of sleep.
He loosened his tie and sighed inwardly as he walked on. Since he’d moved to this district last year he didn’t make much effort to visit any new places. For all he was concerned, he only really needed to know his route to work and the nearest Starbucks.
So when he passed by a small cafe called “Tiana’s Place”, it didn’t immediately click that the jazz he’d heard playing softly from her apartment was the same music that was playing now. It was familiar enough that it gave him pause. Where had he heard that song before? When he finally caught sight of her—his neighbor— through the glass window, it finally registered that she wasn’t a teacher or a missionary, but a cafe worker, and from the looks of it, she owned the place.
He watched her dimples deepen as she interacted with customers, giving each and every one of them a tireless smile. Before he knew it, Nanami found himself inside the cafe whisked into the after-work rush of impatient office workers. She was so busy already, the only indication of strain being a moment when she blew the hair out of her face before the next customer walked up to order. He planned to buy something small and leave; he wanted to give her time to catch her breath but inadvertently in his musings he was already holding up the line.
She was…right in front of him? And speaking to him now? It was the first time he’d heard her voice and he decided it suited her. She spoke in Japanese and, though accented, was clear and practiced enough in a way that impressed him.
“Are you still deciding, sir?” Impossibly large brown eyes waited in expectation for him to order.
He broke out of his reverie quickly enough to make it seem like his stalling was deliberate, his unmarred poker face further upholding the charade.
He scanned the prepackaged foods and retrieved the first thing that looked like bread. “Just this.”
“Good choice,” She looked positively elated as she scanned the barcode and activated the card machine. “Beignets are my specialty.” She was beaming at him. Not in a “thank you come again” customer way but like in a he’d just made her entire week way. She was so laughably easy to please that it discomfited him.
He muttered a “thank you”, taking the package and turning to leave quickly before he met her eyes again. The Fall of Icarus was a cautionary tale for a reason, he wouldn’t risk another trip into the sun.
Tumblr media
Nanami’s routine had drastically altered over the next few weeks. Every morning he’d gotten used to riding down the elevator with her. They greeted each other regularly, albeit a bit awkwardly, in the shared space—A slight bow from him as he held the doors open, reciprocated by a grateful wave from her.
The last time they shared an elevator, however, they'd accidentally brushed hands while reaching for the ground floor button. For some reason, that unnerved Nanami. So now, most times, he avoided that, opting to wait and listen to the click of her door before he left the house. For good measure, he started taking the stairs. As a result, Nanami had added an extra 10 minutes to his morning commute.
The detour, having yet to be fixed, took him past the café every day. Though Nanami knew the process of waiting in line would add an extra 15 minutes to his after-work trek, he did so anyway, calculating that picking up a quick dinner bento would be a fair trade to taking the time to cook something for himself.
“What can I get for you today, sir?”
He knew her name now—Tiana, from the name tag she wore, and the sign on the storefront. He noticed from the way her eyes would widen as he approached, that she recognized him now too.
“Black tea. No sugar, please.” He placed his usual prepackaged meal and packet of beignets on the counter, taking out his wallet. Nanami didn’t always plan to add beignets to every order, but he found himself reaching for them every time, dreading her predictable delight when he did. Ordering tea was another stroke of impulse he didn’t account for, but it wasn’t so busy now, he could enjoy it before he went home.
He decided on a table by the window, savoring the warm liquid as the sun set to a melancholy soundtrack of brass and bass. It was like being transported to another time, outside of crowded subway cars and the hustle of his high-powered office.
Nanami closed his eyes and felt something akin to contentment. When he exhaled, the stiffness in his shoulders abated, and the strain behind his eyes subsided. Was this what it was like to finally relax?
He was about to take another sip of his drink when he heard a loud bang. The front door to the restaurant had flown open, a bulky man with greasy hair and a lecherous smile stalking in. Nanami’s eyes trailed after the man’s movements, the cup still raised to his lip.
“I’d like a dozen of those powdered donut things. Ya got any of those?” The man leered at the part-timer manning the counter. He sauntered back and forth at the register, eying the self-serve pastries in the display.
“Sure, would you like them fresh? There aren’t enough ready-made ones for a dozen, but if you’re willing to wait there’s a new batch being made—”
The man picked up a package of beignets that had been warming under a heated case and without warning, ripped open the package and took a bite.
“S-sir! You need to pay for that first!” The part-timer sputtered.
“Well, I’m waitin’ for that new batch. I wanna try before I buy.” The delinquent guffawed and attempted another gleeful bite only for the pastry to be smacked out of his hand and onto the floor.
He whirled around to face Tiana, bursting into laughter upon seeing her. “And who the fuck are you supposed to be?”
“Call the police,” Tiana stated calmly to her employee as she stared down the man. Her usual polite smile had been replaced with a stony-faced expression. “Sir, if you’re not going to buy anything then it’s best you leave.”
“Huh? What was that? I can barely understand you, foreign bit-AHh” A pressure on the man’s shoulder made him crumple in pain.
“Your ears must not be working. I can understand her perfectly well,” Nanami murmured, his vice-like grip squeezing at the juncture between the man’s neck and shoulder. While the delinquent whimpered pathetically at the deepening pressure, Nanami directed his attention to Tiana, motioning with a slight tilt of his head for her to step away. “It’s not worth your trouble, I’ll take care of it.”
She nodded reluctantly and joined her staff member who was now waiting with a phone at her ear behind the counter.
Nanami appeared to be saying something to the man now, but in a volume that Tiana couldn’t hear. His face was calm, betraying no emotion while the delinquent paled gradually in terror, trembling under his grip. The moment Nanami released him, the man scrambled out of his grasp and prostrated himself on all fours.
“I’M SORRY I’M SORRY I PROMISE I WON’T DO IT AGAIN PLEASE—” He shouted hysterically and proceeded to do a fervent bow of penitence.
Tiana looked at Nanami quizzically but was only met with a mild shrug.
“Alright alright,” she stepped around the counter to placate him. If he could just stop snotting up the floor she just mopped and get out of there, they could just forget this all happened.
The tinkling bell sound of the cafe door opening interrupted the scene; everyone’s attention shifted from the blubbering man on the floor to the police officer who had just stepped in.
Before anyone could speak, the man sprang up from the ground and ran toward the policeman. “OFFICER! IT'S ALL MY FAULT I ADMIT IT! ARREST ME, PLEASE! JUST GET ME OUT OF HERE!”
Within 10 minutes the offender was cuffed—willingly, to the cop’s surprise— and whisked noisily out of the cafe just as quickly as he’d burst in. Nanami, suddenly uninterested in the commotion, walked calmly back to his table and gathered his things.
Tiana made her way over to Nanami, eyeing the man through the window. He was currently being escorted to a police car on the curb. Still in hysterics, he’d practically thrown himself into the back of the car.
“Ok…what on earth did you say to that man?” She quirked an eyebrow at the blonde businessman.
That this cafe is his one and only oasis in the heaping pile of shit called life, and if even so much as one insignificant waste of air like him tries to ruin it he’ll have no choice but to chop his fingers off one by one and shove them down his throat so hard he’ll be shitting fingernails for weeks…among other things.
It would’ve been improper to divulge this to Tiana, of course.
“I asked him to apologize,” he said instead in simple English, a far cry from the eloquently horrific threats he’d made in his native language.
“Really?” She asked, accepting the sudden change of language in stride. Her arms were crossed, her hip jutted to the side, face incredulous. “Just like that?”
“I’m rather persuasive.”
After a beat she laughed.
Nanami didn’t consider himself a funny person. And frankly, he didn’t understand why she was laughing now but he welcomed it, if only to see that the earlier disturbance hadn’t caused her too much distress.
“Well, thank you kindly,” she drawled in between giggles, her southern accent now unmistakable when she switched to English. “Mister…”
“Kento.” He offered his first name, aware he was skipping over several customary stages of familiarity. In any other case, anyone less than an acquaintance addressing him by his first name would be extremely frowned upon. But it was common business practice to use given names when dealing with American clients; he thought it fitting to do the same with her.
He reached into his suit jacket, pulling out a silver business card holder, and passed over an impressive looking card:
Nanami Kento, Investment Advisor
“If there are any similar issues please don’t hesitate to contact me.” He repeated an English phrase that had come in handy from past business dealings.
“Mr. Kento,” she repeated to herself with finality studying the card. Tiana faintly wondered why a guy with a fancy title—and the most expensive suits she’d ever laid eyes on— lived in the modest one-room apartment right next to hers. She pocketed the card and patted around for her own business card.
“I would’ve given you my own card too. But if you ever need to contact me—”
“Boss!” Her part-timer called out, waving her over from where she stood next to a police officer holding a clipboard.
“I’d better go, you know where to find me.” She excused herself with an apologetic smile.
Unfortunately for Nanami, this little ordeal had cost him another hour of wasted time.
Tumblr media
The next day Nanami waited for the familiar click of her door shutting before starting his commute. When he exited his apartment, he could still see the silhouette of her back walking towards the elevator bank.
She left without an umbrella, he noted to himself as he walked part of the way down the hallway. He imagined walking up to her and bringing it up casually as they waited for the elevator. But as soon as she’d turned his direction he changed course abruptly, legs moving on their own through the emergency exit and down the stairs.
Work went on as usual. He sat at his desk going over the pitch deck, but his eyes could not seem to follow the text. Instead, he found himself gazing out the window, watching the clouds slowly darken in the horizon.
“Fucking weather, right? News said it’s gonna rain like a bitch the next few days.”
His boss had walked up behind him, crouching at his eye level to see what Nanami was looking at.
“Hope you brought your galoshes, rookie, we’re going overtime today for that big client meeting. Dinner’s on me.” His boss clapped a hand on his shoulder and went off to bother a different team.
He tried to return his attention to his work, but he couldn’t. Instead, he leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes against the blue light of his computer screen. All he could think about was the rain.
Tumblr media
Tiana had hoped that by the time she closed, the rain would’ve stopped. But she found herself outside the doors of the cafe, reluctant to leave. The rain hadn’t let up, and it didn’t look like it was stopping any time soon.
It was a day of disappointments. On top of forgetting her umbrella, Nanami hadn’t come into the shop that day. She’d gotten used to seeing him enter the store at the same time every day, and perhaps even looked forward to it.
She took one tentative step outside, shivering through the draft of wind. She didn’t live far, maybe it would be alright if she just ran home with a plastic bag over her head. Tiana locked the door behind her and raised the collar of her jacket, clasping it with her hand to protect her neck. On the count of three, she lifted the plastic takeout bag over her head and took the plunge.
After a few strides in the pelting rain, it suddenly stopped—She had run into something or someone. The rain made it difficult to see where she was going so she blindly sputtered a reflexive “I’m so sorry!” in English at whoever it was that she had run into.
When she wiped the rain out of her eyes she could see nothing but an impeccably tailored pinstripe suit in the dim of the streetlights. It was Nanami and he was holding an umbrella over her head. His collar was unbuttoned without a tie, and he looked utterly exhausted. The dark circles under his eyes were even more pronounced from where she stood underneath him.
“Mr. Kento? Are you alright? What are you—”
“I figured you could use an umbrella,” he said dryly and pretty pointedly at her makeshift plastic bag hat.
“Yea, I guess I could use one of those,” she laughed breathlessly and took the bag off her head, before giving him one of those heart-stopping smiles he loathed. “You saved my life.*”
The corner of his mouth quirked slightly, amused. Perhaps because her choice of words sounded highly literal, almost…cute?, in Japanese. He “saved her life” just by sharing his umbrella? Americans were known to have a penchant for the dramatic. But he didn’t bother to correct her, instead, he only hummed somewhat of an affirmative response.
They walked in a comfortable silence down a familiar tree-lined path leading to their apartment building. She noticed Nanami’s shoulder getting wet, and leaned closer to him.
Feeling the imperceptible shift, he gave the woman beside him a sidelong glance. His eyes settled on the loose wisp of hair he’d always seen her blowing out of her face.
It bothered him.
Maybe it was the fatigue-driven delirium, but he was struck with the inane compulsion to brush that lock out of her eyes. He couldn’t have been more grateful for the umbrella currently occupying his hand, otherwise, he would’ve indulged it.
Tiana reached over and gently adjusted the umbrella closer over his side. “Wouldn’t want to ruin that nice suit of yours,” she said softly.
“I hate this suit.” The curt statement came off a bit more brusque than he’d initially intended, though, it was true. He hated that suit and everything it represented.
She looked at him curiously, wondering if this was another aspect of his humor. But from what she could see on his countenance, he was entirely serious.
He glanced at her again, catching the confused look on her face. “I don’t mind if it gets wet,” he reiterated this time with the intended lack of severity, along with a kind of finality that implied an end to the discussion of his suit and his decision to prioritize her dryness. They continued the rest of the way, the umbrella above them biased towards her side.
When they got to the apartment he held the building door open, letting her walk through first.
“Thank you again for yesterday. That man, he was—” she paused to conjure the correct word.
“He was being a nuisance,” he completed, pushing the button for the elevator door. Naturally, he had chosen the same number for their floors, and when they arrived at their floor he waited for her to alight before walking after her.
When they finally reached their neighboring doors, he set his umbrella on the hallway floor for it to dry and began to punch in the code for his door.
“Mr. Kento, wait a moment.”
He stilled his movement and watched as she rummaged into her purse.
Tiana pulled out a paper box from her bag and presented it to him, “I was going to give these to you earlier if you came in. Glad they didn’t get wet.”
It was a small gesture. Even so, he was reluctant to take it.
“You… didn’t have to,” he frowned, eyeing the box.
“You didn’t have to walk me home, either,” she shrugged.
“We’re neighbors. We were going in the same direction,” he said plainly, though, he didn’t entirely believe the words as they left his mouth either. It was unlike him to go anywhere else except straight home after working overtime. He hadn’t run into her by some coincidence or divine guidance. He’d gone there on purpose, and he had a sinking feeling she figured that out already too.
“Then just think of it as a ‘thank you gift’,” she insisted, tugging gently at his wrist and nudging the box softly into his hands. “For being my favorite customer.”
He shifted uncomfortably to receive the box with both hands. It was an unfamiliar concept for him to be anyone’s favorite anything.
“Good night, Mr. Kento.” Tiana’s voice had an amused lilt to it. Nanami must’ve stood there frozen because she was already halfway through her door, a knowing smile on her lips.
He regained his composure and mumbled back a formal “Good night, Miss. Tiana,” —her name a bit alien on his tongue—before retreating back inside.
When the door shut behind him, he immediately shed his suit jacket. His body was much too warm despite one side being wet; his collar much too tight, despite his lack of tie.
Tumblr media
Nanami stared at the assortment of pastries that Tiana had given to him. He couldn’t recall the last time he willingly ate dessert though he assumed if he had, it would’ve probably been with Gojo and his infantile palate.
Truthfully, Nanami didn’t really like sweets at all. The first time he bought those beignets, he’d just picked up the first thing in line that day and just…never stopped buying it. Over the past weeks, he’d amassed a bevy of unopened bags of the foreign confection and they were occupying the much-needed counter space of his kitchen.
It was rather ironic for an investment advisor to be so frivolous with his money. Spending on foods he didn’t even eat when was supposed to be saving it didn’t make any sort of financial sense. He had been planning to retire by 40, and now he’d have to add an extra 5 years to his projections over mere fried dough.
Nanami turned over the yellow business card for “Tiana’s Place” that he had found wedged in the box. A simple “Bon Appétit ;) -T.” was written on the back.
He picked up a beignet from the box and took a bite—It was made for him, after all. He chewed it slowly, the consistency not too far off from that of a baguette. It wasn’t too sweet, either. In fact, it was…delicious? Better than any dessert he’s had before. Maybe everything he’d tried before this was just a crude imitation, a poor excuse for the craft of baking.
Perhaps he did like sweets or even dessert right before bed. Maybe he didn’t even mind that he wouldn’t be getting his full 8 hours of sleep. If he concentrated hard enough, her faint humming as she got ready for bed filled the silence of his apartment. He could stay up even longer if at all possible.
When he finally closed his eyes, a rush of different kinds of thoughts flooded his mind.
Some were more mundane: Maybe I’ll have a beignet for breakfast or It’s probably going to rain tomorrow.
Some were imaginations: plump glossy lips curved in an oversweet smile meant solely for him. His fingers gently tucking that bothersome tendril of hair behind her ear.
He finally drifted to sleep with one last thought just as simple as the others, a tiny hope that she would forget her umbrella again.
Tumblr media
*A/N: Tiana’s words sound like a literal translation/unnatural because she’s a non-native speaker ex. “you saved my life” vs a more natural/colloquial “you’re a lifesaver”

Fatherly Instincts 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back by popular demand, one year later, we’ll once again look into how genshin men would be as dads! Since classes and projects are taking up a majority of my time, I haven’t been very active…but this was so fun to write in the time I have during break! Thank you for your patience! 🐦
Fatherly Instincts <3 With: Albedo, Tighnari, Neuvillette, and Itto <3
-..-..-..-..-..-..-..
Albedo isn’t the best at showing emotion in his facial expressions. He keeps a blank face most of the time but for his child, he’ll smile more frequently- though this ‘smile’ is just the slightest upturn of his lips. Your kiddo quickly took a liking to your special kamera from Fontaine and has loved posing for pictures! Bedo has become a victim to the camera phase himself because his sweet little baby has learned ‘cheese’. He hears “Pa! Cheese!” about ten times a day and every time, he’ll smile for his kid. Does he like smiling with his teeth? Not really. Does he think he looks silly in the photos? For sure. However, he knows that imaginative play and loving, parental interaction is integral for his child’s development. So if that means he has to smile, he will smile. And when he finds his kiddo’s stash of photos of you and him… he can’t help but get sentimental. He sees himself from his kid’s perspective :’)
-..-..-..-..-..-..-..
“See? I told you not to run ahead. This is what happens when you don’t look where you’re going” Tighnari shakes his head, kneeling down in the dirt with his bawling toddler. His ears twitch with the loud screeches but he isn’t bothered. Before he gets to work dressing the wound (it’s hardly a scratch at all) he holds his kiddo close until they stop crying. Tighnari’s dad senses kicked in when he started caring for Collei and he uses that prior experience now. He’s a natural at healing wounds and caring for those in need. Before his kiddo was able to SPRINT ahead of him in the woods, he was able to prevent accidents by baby proofing your shared home. All corners are covered with foam, all dangerous objects locked away, all hunting gear kept on high shelves. His quick, fox reflexes helped him catch his baby when they first where learning to walk! But now that they’re extremely mobile, he has to kiss a lot of scraped knees and make a lot of ‘healing pudding’ aka, a simple sweet treat to help them forget about their boo-boo :) oldest trick in the book.
-..-..-..-..-..-..-..
Though he has dozens of daughters already, he still finds parenthood difficult at times. Neuvillette felt out of his depth when he held your baby for the first time. Melusines are not born this small, this fragile… This…. Fussy. The two of you quickly found out that this baby simply does not want to sleep at night. Neuvillette, the gentleman that he is, insists that you stay in bed while he tends to the baby during these late nights. One night, He felt a sense of sadness, it flowed slowly into his chest like a rising tide. Perhaps he felt bad for you, felt inadequate as a father, he couldn’t really place the emotion. In his own restlessness, it began to rain. While any other time he would worry about creating a storm, it seems that this one was a blessing in disguise. After hours of fussing and crying, the baby stopped. The low rumble of thunder, soft patter of rain on the windows… it soothes his child. Since that day, he will bring forth light rain during the night to ensure a peaceful rest for his family. And when the newspapers start to report on this strange weather phenomenon? He pretends he doesn’t know a thing about it. One day they will grow out of needing the rain but for now, he enjoys being able to provide for the child he loves so dearly.
-..-..-..-..-..-..-..
Itto is known for his loud laughter and goofy personality. He can be forgetful at times or too-over the-top but he knows when to be calm. His poor children, half oni as they are, start to grow their horns at a young age. Their horns start out as bumps on their foreheads and as they get older, the horns break through the skin much like teeth do when they grow in for the first time. You don’t have any experience in this field, all you can do is ice their heads and offer warm hugs. During days where their horns hurt, Itto steps in to cheer them up. With ice packs in hand, he wraps their heads with colorful ribbons and bandages, making a crown of sorts. He compliments their new headgear, telling them how royal they look! Soon enough, the horn pain is forgotten and the kiddos toddle off to play once again as their headaches dissipate. You don’t miss the look of fondness in your oni husband’s eyes. He hesitates before wrapping the remaining ribbon around your head “Well… Gotta deck you out in some sick headgear too right babe?” what a dork oh jeeeez.

❅ Aurora's impact in the event
The Mountain-Wandering Influencer: Aurora
In the vast world of social media, there exists a wandering soul who roams through snow-capped peaks and unimaginable mountain landscapes. This person is Aurora, the influencer who knows the heartbeat of the mountains better than anyone else. Through her adventures, she takes us on an endless journey through the wonders of the world, from freeride landscapes to the comforts of mountain lodges.
Tumblr media
With a glance at her stories, it seems there isn't a mountain Aurora hasn't climbed or a trail she hasn't traversed. She lives the rush of snowboarding down the slopes and the warmth of a cup of hot chocolate in her mountain cabin. Oh yes, the cabin: her home, where her faithful companion, a domesticated wolf named Accalia, resides.
Tumblr media
But let's get to the heart of the current events. Aurora became known not only for her stunning shots but also for being one of the first sources of information about the incident involving BTS's Chaeri. Yes, it was her, through her Instagram profile and her tweets, who informed the world even before the news agencies had a word to say.
Her tweets describing the scene and her concern for Chaeri went viral, gaining followers at a rapid pace. With each update and detail shared from her mountain location, her following grew. Aurora not only shared the news but made us feel like we were right there with her, on the slope, in the midst of the tension.

Her passion for sharing and informing had a significant impact on the K-pop community. Her story showcased the power of social media in connecting people in crucial moments. And this is how Aurora Frost, the mountain-wandering influencer, demonstrated that a simple post can unite hearts and souls in a way no other means of communication can achieve.

Breaking News: BTS's Namjoon Speaks Out on Chaeri's Accident

❅ How BTS help Chaeri
Jin
Jin, despite having just enlisted, obtained a special permission to visit Chaeri in the hospital as soon as possible. Several years earlier, Jin himself had been the one to teach her how to snowboard, nurturing her passion for the sport.
He couldn't believe that the accident might be attributed to any negligence on her part. Driven to unveil the truth, he took on the role of an advocate, actively working to expedite the investigation into the incident and urging the agency to initiate legal proceedings against the resort.
Even though the time spent with Chaeri in the hospital was limited, in skillfully offered solace through gentle gestures like a comforting kiss on the forehead and the reassurance of brotherly caresses, nfusing her with the courage needed to navigate the demanding journey of recovery.
Forced to depart early, Jin maintained his genuine concern for Chaeri's well-being through messages and phone calls, demonstrating his commitment to stand by her side even from a distance.
Yoongi
Yoongi was used to scold Chaeri for her eating habits. The girl went from often treating herself to junk-food snacks at all hours of the day and night - then complaining of stomach pains caused by the mix of sweet and salty foods - to almost starving for days whenever she worked too hard and forgot to eat.
Everyone knew it: the band members, the fans, the staff.
But when Chaeri was injured and had to rest, Yoongi always brought her something to feed her every time she visited. It didn't matter if it was a milka chocolate bar, a whole pizza, stuffed burgers from the most famous fast food restaurants, or anything else. Yoongi just wanted to make her smile.
He knew that Chaeri's recovery would also depend heavily on her mental state, and he wanted to do everything he could to alleviate the stress and anxiety that came with being injured and unable to perform.
Hoseok
Hoseok was always the one to lift Chaeri's spirits whenever she was feeling down, and her injury was no exception. Despite his busy schedule, he made it a priority to visit her in the hospital and the dorm every chance he got, bringing along gifts and telling her funny stories to make her laugh.
But it was during the physical therapy sessions that he truly shone. He would sit beside her, offering words of encouragement as she worked to regain her strength and mobility. And when Chaeri would become frustrated at her slow progress, Hoseok would take her hand and remind her that recovery was a marathon, not a sprint.
Together, they would do exercises and stretches that felt impossible at first, but gradually became easier with each passing day. And as Chaeri's confidence grew, Hoseok felt a sense of pride knowing that he had played a small but important role in her journey toward recovery.
Jimin
Jimin was the one who made sure that Chaeri never lost her passion for music during her recovery. He knew that losing your sense of purpose could be just as detrimental to your recovery as physical injuries. So, he would bring his guitar to her hospital room and serenade her with songs from their repertoire, sometimes even allowing her to sing along if she felt up to it.
Despite the pain of her injuries, Chaeri found solace in the music and the company of her bandmate. They would write silly lyrics and melodies together, to make days a little funnier
Jimin's infectious energy and positive attitude were contagious, and he helped to remind Chaeri that one setback didn't define her career or her identity. With his encouragement, Chaeri was able to find joy in the small victories of her recovery and remain optimistic about her future.
Taehyung
During Chaeri’s recovery, Taehyung noticed that her creative spirit couldn't be confined by the situation. One day he suggested her to focus on her fashion brand, using that time to breathe life into new projects.
Taehyung, with his innate passion for art and design, immediately got to work with Chaeri. They spent hours together sketching, discussing styles, fabrics, and colors. Together, they experimented with new ideas and concepts that would make her fashion brand even more distinctive.
They sat side by side for hours, immersed in creativity, with the sound of brushes and pencils filling the silence of the hospital room.
This collaboration not only led to a new fashion collection but also created a deeper bond between Taehyung and Chaeri, based on shared passions and mutual inspiration.
Together, they overcame not only the injury but also turned a challenging time into an opportunity for growth and creative realization for Chaeri and her fashion brand.
Namjoon
Namjoon, recognizing the emotional toll Chaeri's injury might be taking on her, became a steady pillar of support throughout her recovery. Understanding the unique challenges that come with being a global superstar forced to step back temporarily, he made it a priority to address not just the physical aspects of healing but also the emotional well-being.
During his visits, Namjoon would bring carefully curated playlists designed to soothe Chaeri's soul. He believed in the healing power of music and saw it as a way to transport her mind to a place of comfort and tranquility.
In addition to music, Namjoon brought along a collection of movies—films that ranged from heartwarming classics to motivational documentaries. He understood that sometimes a good movie could provide a much-needed escape, allowing Chaeri to momentarily forget the challenges she was facing and find inspiration in different stories.
Beyond entertainment, Namjoon engaged her in thoughtful conversations about life, dreams, and the challenges they both had overcome. He shared his own experiences with navigating the pressures of fame and reassured her that taking the necessary time for recovery was not a sign of weakness but rather a testament to her strength.
His thoughtful gestures and genuine conversations created a safe space for her to express her real concerns and fears.
Jungkook
During Chaeri's recovery period, Jungkook went beyond providing emotional support and pleasant distractions; he also demonstrated practical commitment to facilitating her daily life. Taking on the role of a true friend and confidant, he became a constant source of comfort.
Jungkook volunteered to move back in with Chaeri in their old dormitory, as his idol activities were temporarily halted. His daily presence not only relieved Chaeri's loneliness, but also allowed Jungkook to be there for her at all times.
Throughout the day, Jungkook took care of practical tasks such as preparing meals, ensuring Chaeri had everything she needed, and assisting her with daily activities that her condition made challenging. This caring attitude underscored his tangible commitment to making Chaeri's healing journey as smooth as possible.
In addition, Jungkook continued to engage Chaeri in enjoyable activities, such as movie nights, gaming sessions, and simple conversations to divert her thoughts from the incident.
His dedication to being there for Chaeri in every aspect of her daily life was evident.

🕰️🩷🧋and 🥘 for starstuck Dee please and thank you.
[ >>> kirby oc ask meme <<< ]
🕰️ (Clock) - What would a Dreamy Gear version of them look like? What sort of accessories would they have? What kind of role do they play?
Tumblr media
well i couldn't resist drawing it once i'd thought about it, so here she is! still pretty recognisable, but i think that large elements of her story and the suspicions surrounding her would be different, due to the fact that waddle dee/bandee is usually the one and only waddle dee. i think she'd still be found in a meteor crater at the edge of town by meta knight, but i think this time he'd bring her to bandee instead of president dedede, mostly due to the clear visual similarities. bandee would take her in instantly, and she'd follow him around the mechanic shop, learning to tinker and serving as his glorified assistant. learns to make really good apple tea instead of being a friendly chatterbox she would be shy and selectively mute, speaking out loud exclusively to bandee. though she still forms relationships with kirby and meta knight, i think that sadly in this world president dedede would frighten her, despite how highly bandee thinks of him 😭 at meta knight's suggestion, after he finds her squinting skyward on the roof at night a few too many times, she makes herself a pocket telescope for looking at stars and surveying the weather. she uses it to give bandee reports, which he discretely passes on to kirby and dedede for their races.
🩷 (Pink Heart) - If they were a Dream Friend, what would their moveset be like? How much HP do they have? Would they be a strong attacker, or would they take on more of a support role?
she would be a support role for sure, but i also can't resist also giving her some specialised abilities... > hp: small health bar, but practically immune to damage. will still die in insta-kill scenarios like lava or crush blocks > basic attack: if bandana waddle dee, meta knight, or king dedede are on the team she'll get a simple swing attack with a toy/training version of their weapon. if at least two are on the team, it's upgraded to an attack with a three-swing combo, and she'll alternate at random between which weapon she pulls > basic support: drawing magic from the environment around her or other allies or enemies present, she can give a wide variety of power effects. i previously said she'd give blustery and i stand by it, because even if there are no other elements around there's always air, but i think she could give the others too. she cannot attack with any of these herself > healing: under CPU control she'll focus on running ahead to pick up heal items, and bring them back. if everybody has full health, she'll actually store the item and bring it out later whenever anyone gets below half health; tdlx bandee style > meteor shower: this is a charge attack that starts with a 3 minute cooldown. after charging, she can use it by jumping in the air and pressing a multi-button combo, to avoid accidental activation. this is a full screen, crash-like attack with a shooting star visual, similar to team meteor. all on screen enemies defeated, and most bosses down to at least 1/3 health. > downed: unfortunately after using the charged attack she will drop her inventory, pass out, and need to be piggy backed for about 5 minutes if you want to keep her on the team (walking over to her will activate a 'piggy back' bar instead of the standard 'revive'). she cannot heal or give buffs during this time, but can be dropped by accident or when attacked, and can take damage that cannot be healed. if she makes it she wakes up at partial health, but returns to being invulnerable while conscious
🧋 and 🥘 both answered here!

Official DC App’s Voiced Stories: Amuro Tooru
The official Detective Conan app offers a number of voiced stories - short conversations between characters - to its premium subscribers. I translated all thirteen stories that include Rei. (Three of these are in the Akai post.)
Other characters that appear in these stories are Conan (10), Akai (3), Heiji (2), Kazami (1), Ran (1), and Vermouth (1).
Table of Contents
Voiced Stories: Akai Shuuichi
Voiced Stories: Amuro Tooru
How Old Are You, Amuro-san? (安室さん何歳?)
Heiji: "But I gotta say, I ain't been back here at Poirot since the case..."
Heiji: "Yer deductions sure were somethin' back then! You sure ya ain't sharper than old man Kogoro?"
Amuro: "Certainly not... I still have a long way to go."
Heiji: "Speakin' of which, how old are ya?"
Amuro: "I'm at least a zodiac cycle older than you, I'd say."
Heiji: "What'd ya say?! Yer that much older than us?"
Amuro: "Us? Conan-kun is an elementary schooler, no?"
Conan: "T-That's right! I'm an elementary schooler! Heiji-niichan, what are you saying? Hahaha..."
Heiji: "Right, yeah yeah! Sorry, my bad! It's just, when I'm with this kid, I can't stop feelin' like Kudo's right by my side! Hahaha!
Amuro: "Is that so? Hahaha."
Conan: (exhales) "That could've been bad. Geez..."
Amuro's Cooking Class (安室料理教室)
Amuro: "Yes, now all you need to do is cut it in half..."
Heiji: "Boo-yah, we got it done! Man, I'm beat..."
Conan: "Thank you, Amuro-san!"
Amuro: "It was nothing. I'd be happy to help you with something like this whenever you'd like."
Heiji: "Nah, was a huge help! Ya saved us! It ain't like we woulda managed crap with just me and 'im."
Conan: "Man, I couldn't believe it when I saw your cucumber wasn't even cut all the way through..."
Heiji: "Hey! Says the guy who couldn't even shred the cabbage! Ya cut it inta squares!"
Amuro: "Now, now, calm down. But what made you want to make sandwiches all of a sudden?"
Heiji: "Ah, that's, well... it ain't real important..."
Amuro: "What is it?"
Heiji: "Mm, ah, it's just... Kazuha and them, they said they wanted ta eat yer sandwiches... so I wanted ta make it myself, y'see? Ta see what the hype's 'bout..."
Amuro: "Oh? So that's why you cooked for your girlfriend and her friends?"
Heiji: "Ah, nah nah nah, we ain't like that! It's just, um... she was just super naggy 'bout it, yeah?"
Amuro: "It's nothing to be embarrassed of. I think it's quite lovely! To cook for your girlfriend, even though you're bad at it!"
Heiji: "Nah nah nah, I-I'm tellin' ya, we ain't like that! Geez..."
Conan: "...Ha ha."
Kazami's Observant Eye (風見の観察眼)
Kazami: "...That concludes my report. Shall we bring him in?"
Furuya: "No, we'll let him swim a little longer. At this rate, they'll cut him off and escape scotfree."
Kazami: "Understood. In addition, erm. That is..."
Furuya: "What is it? How many times have I told you to report any news straight away? Particularly bad news."
Kazami: "Y-Yes, sir! But ah, this isn't a report, per se... I'm aware this is quite impertinent of me, but Furuya-san... would you consider taking a short nap after this? You've, ah, looked quite wan these past few days."
Furuya: "Ha, I've still got a long way to go if I have you worrying about me. I won't deny we have a modest amount of time until our next meeting. The weather is quite nice today. Shall we rest in a nearby park?"
Furuya: "Kazami. You're coming too!"
Kazami: "Furuya-san, I will accompany you!"
[...]
Furuya: "It's been quite a while since I've relaxed outside like this. You ought to r- oh, hm."
Kazami: "What is the mat- gargh!"
Furuya: "Hey, you guys... you need to look around you before you play catch! It can be really dangerous if you hit someone by accident! Like it was just now."
Kazami: "The ball is here."
Kazami: (sniffs) "Please be more careful next time."
Furuya: "You ought to be more aware of your surroundings as well. What happened to your observant eye that caught my poor physical condition?"
Kazami: "I can say nothing in my defense."
Furuya: "Well, I suppose it's fine. It makes me more excited to whip you into shape."
Kazami: "P-Please be gentle with me."
Mediating a Fight (喧嘩の仲裁)
Conan: "Ouch, I guess I've got a cut inside my mouth too..."
Amuro: "Hey there, Conan-kun. Oh? Why are you injured?"
Conan: "Amuro-san! Are you out shopping for Poirot?"
Amuro: "Yes, that's right. And as for you, what case did you poke your nose into this time?"
Conan: "I didn't really poke my nose into it... I more got dragged into it. Some of my classmates started arguing about cleaning duty, and it devolved into a physical fight."
Amuro: "I see. So your injuries are marks of valour from your role in mediating their fight."
Conan: "Eheheh. I'm sure you would've been smarter about stopping them."
Amuro: "Mm, I wonder about that. I'd say I'd be the one fighting and needing to be stopped."
Amuro: "If my opponent's taunting me into a fight, then I'd have to take them up on it- and I'd end up in a fist fight. Right?"
Conan: "Huh?"
Amuro: "Just kidding! More importantly, show me your injuries. Let's treat them."
What's on the Menu? (メニューは?)
Conan: "Huh? Amuro-san?"
Amuro: "Hey there, Conan-kun. Are you shopping as well?"
Conan: "Yeah, Ran-neechan asked me to. Does 'as well' mean that you're shopping too?"
Amuro: "Yes, we're running low on ingredients at Poirot. I'll be using these ingredients to-"
Conan: "Ah, wait! Lemme guess what you're gonna make! ...um, you've got carrots and celery....?"
Amuro: "Then you've got thirty seconds on the dot, with no hints! Now then, let's see how you do."
Conan: "Huh? Um... carrots and celery, carrots and celery... mm... a stew?"
Amuro: "Incorrect. Ten seconds left..."
Conan: "Urgh, just wait... you're stocking up, so you're not only using these ingredients..."
Amuro: "Sadly, you've run out of time."
Conan: "Whaaat?!"
Amuro: "The correct answer is curry! Was it too difficult for Sherlock Holmes, who only ever eats meals made for him by Mrs. Hudson?"
Conan: "Celery in curry? I can't believe you'd do that..."
Amuro: "Hahaha, it's not a rare recipe. You ought to look it up. And besides..."
Conan: "And besides?"
Amuro: "I'd like our customers to enjoy eating it. It's my favourite food, after all!"
The Trick to Making Ham Sandwiches (ハムサンド作りのコツ)
Conan: "Is it really okay for me to be in the kitchen?"
Amuro: "Certainly! I'd welcome you anytime! But did you like my ham sandwiches that much?"
Conan: "Yeah! Ran-neechan tried to make them the other day, but they ended up a little different from yours..."
Amuro: "Oh, Ran-san did?"
Conan: "I think she made them just like you taught me before, but..."
Amuro: "I see... she did apply olive oil to the ham?"
Conan: "Yeah! She said she did!"
Amuro: "And... when mixing the miso with the mayonnaise, did she keep it to just a dash?"
Conan: "Yeah! I think that was fine too!"
Amuro: "The only thing left is... did she heat the lettuce in lukewarm water?"
Conan: "Ah... I don't know. I guess I'll double-check with her!"
Amuro: "That sounds good! By heating it a little, it retains its crispiness for a while even after putting it in the sandwich."
Conan: "Right! Thank you, Amuro-san!"
Amuro: "I'd love to try some as well once she succeeds!"
A Perfectionist? (完璧主義者?)
Conan: "I'm home! Ran-neechan, what's for dinner toni- huh, Amuro-san?"
Amuro: "Welcome home, Conan-kun. Ran-san is at the supermarket. She said she ran out of the beef she needed for the gratin she was making tonight. I volunteered to look after the place while she was gone... I'm sure she'll be back soon."
Conan: "I-Is that so? Why are you at the detective agency, Amuro-san? Kogoro-no-ojisan has something to do tonight- he isn't here."
Amuro: "I'm here for you today, not Mouri-san. Did you forget this book at Poirot?"
Conan: "Ah, I forgot to put it back in my bag when I left! Thanks, Amuro-san! You're a big help!"
Amuro: "You're most welcome. It's important to you, yes? You need to be careful not to lose it."
Conan: "Yeah! You don't seem like the type to lose things, huh. It's like, you never show any weakness... have you ever made a mistake?"
Amuro: "I wouldn't call myself a perfectionist or anything, you know. Let me think... nothing in particular comes to mind. Though I certainly made plenty of mistakes as a child."
Amuro: "Well, now then, I still have work to do. So I'll be leaving now."
Conan: "Okay! See you at Poirot!"
Karaoke Contest (カラオケコンテスト)
Amuro: "Welcome, Conan-kun."
Conan: "Hi, Amuro-san. Huh? What's that poster?"
Amuro: "Ah, it's a poster for our shopping district's New Year's event."
Conan: "An event? What kind?"
Amuro: "It's a karaoke contest. There are some luxurious prizes prepared, so the owner and Azusa-san are both pumped about going for the win."
Amuro: "Oh, right. This is a good opportunity- why don't you enter as well, Conan-kun?"
Conan: "Huh? Ah, I-I'd rather not."
Amuro: "I do think you have a good sense of rhythm. Look, the prize for the elementary school division is an imitation Holmes set!"
Conan: "W-Wow... ah, are you not going to participate, Amuro-san?"
Amuro: "Oh, I'll be working at Poirot. I do plan to close a little early to cheer on the owner and Azusa-san though."
Conan: "I see. I think I might go cheer them on too, then."
Amuro: "Oh, please do."
Advice About Part-Timing (バイトの相談)
Ran: "Excuse me, Amuro-san... could I get your advice on something?"
Amuro: "Certainly, as there's no other customers right now. Is something the matter?"
Ran: "I'm actually thinking of starting a part-time job... Amuro-san, what do you think of your job?"
Amuro: "My job? It's quite fun! But why?"
Ran: "I wanted to go out with Sonoko somewhere..."
Amuro: "I see... well, I feel as though you could excel in any part-time job, Ran-san!"
Ran: "I-Is that so?"
Amuro: "You're cute, and smart as well, no? You're Mouri-sensei's daughter, after all!"
Ran: "I wouldn't go that far..."
Amuro: "And you can do karate too! You may just be stronger than me!"
Ran: "Hey, what's that supposed to mean?!"
Amuro: "Ahahahaha! It's a joke! I apologize, I pushed too far..."
Ran: "Geez! Be serious here!"
Have a Walking Stick Ready Before You Fall (転ばぬ先の杖)
Amuro: "Geez... no matter how much news is aired about cyber-terrorism, people won't stop using simple passwords... I'm appalled at how little they care for security despite being a government research institute..."
Amuro: "Though well, someone like me shouldn't be saying this."
Amuro: "Now then, I suppose it's about time for me to head b- who's there?!"
Vermouth: "Good work, Bourbon... my, you're more laid back that I thought."
Amuro: "Vermouth? Our meeting isn't for an hour yet, no?"
Vermouth: "I can't say I mind meeting at a hotel restaurant, but I felt I'd appreciate a drive in your passenger seat from time to time..."
Amuro: "You disguised as a research assistant for that reason alone?"
Vermouth: "Ha... better safe than sorry." [said in English]
Amuro: "I see, you mean 'have a walking stick ready before you fall'... I'd like to tell that to the supervisors of this research institute's system."
T/N: 'Have a walking stick ready before you fall' is a Japanese idiom equivalent to 'Better safe than sorry.'

“We are reporting here live today,” began the pretty but probably also talented and intelligent news lady, “at the scene of a house explosion.”
“Actually, my hous-” I began, but she cut me off, striding across my lawn and gesturing wildly at the devastation behind her as the cameraman followed. To my surprise, I found the headlight surround from my old ‘80 Dodge Diplomat behind her. It’s like they say, it’s always in the last place the television news looks.
“The fire department has been on scene for several hours, trying to find any survivors. All they have located so far is the wreckage of what is clearly some kind of garage explosion, strewing parts across this yard and onto the street.”
My mom always told me to be gracious to guests, but Mama Switch also once threw a canned pineapple at the weather man. That was unrelated to his work, but I am pretty sure my mom would have let me get away with a little impoliteness. With some effort, I dug out an old snow brush and started waving it to get her attention.
“There’s a witness, now. Sir, how have you been wronged by this atrocious industrial accident? I can tell by your clothes that you must have been close to the epicentre.”
“Y-yes. It’s terrible,” I stammered, suddenly unable to resist her (local, but strong) star power. “I was just coming home from my job as a movie star, when I was crippled by this tremendous explosion. Disfigured, too. I can no longer work.”
Everyone wants to help out, when you’ve been on television. A local church took a collection plate up for me, they felt so bad about my looks. I got a bunch of money in the mail, and a made-for-TV movie deal with Channel Four. Of course, I blew it all on Mopar products, but I did spend a little bit of my ill-gotten gains on a taller fence so I could hide my stuff from the snoops across the street. Call my ass in, will you? You won’t be so smug when my tell-all Hollywood gossip book comes out and calls you a bad neighbour.

First One In
Tumblr media
The 100th's first mission - the submarine pens at Bremen. First for the crews in the air - and the crews on the ground.
**Warning for non-graphic depiction of a civilian air accident.
June 25, 1943
The view from the tower was the best of everything.
Cord took a deep breath and let the wind ruffle her hair, listening to the birds and the soft whine of the weather equipment on the roof. This was the best part of her job - the wind and the quiet, and the green fields, and the view.
Downstairs was a hive of activity - the weather monitors on the floor below, taking their measurements, and the intelligence section below them, the huge blackboards mapping out the whole wing, squadron by squadron and plane by plane, the telex and the typewriters. But up here she was in her element, earth and sky in equal measure. It wasn’t flying - but damn if it wasn’t close.
She was glad they’d been some of the first crew here on base, and that the pilots had come later. It had given them time to settle in and really make the place theirs - and she didn’t mean the pictures Mae and the others had put up in their hut, or the curtains, or the flowers on the windowsills. She’d watched the laborers putting down the new tarmac, and watched the engineers putting in the new huts and barracks, and smelled the paint drying in the enlisted men’s mess halls and the Aero Club. This was her tower now, her radio and her field. She’d bicycled it and driven it and charted its wind patterns and read its weather reports and knew it now just about as well as it was possible to know a place.
But aren’t you scared, Cord? The question had been asked, more than once, before she packed herself off to Iowa for basic training. There’s so much you don’t know.
Well, sure, Cord had allowed. I don’t know heavy bombers, or England, or what to do in an air raid. But I know airfields. I know the Army, as much as they’ll let me know. And I know me, what I can do. I can learn everything else.
A true statement - the truest there was. She’d needed to learn a lot - how to drill and march in formation and shine shoes and salute, but once she’d gotten here, and been shown the tower, and how the radio worked, there wasn’t a thing she needed after that except the airplanes she’d be directing in, and the men to fly them. And the man who was going to lead them through it, of course.
She hadn’t known what she’d find, stepping into his office for the first time. Colonel Harold Huglin was something of an enigma. Had he worked with women before? Would he care? Captain Brennan didn’t know his name, and she’d been in longer than any of them, and Cord could tell, just by watching the older woman, that these were questions they would have to ask, and whether they liked the answers or not they’d have to live with them regardless.
She remembered thinking that his desk was exceptionally neat. It was something to focus on for a moment while she collected herself - the man had a face like a hawk, and as she’d saluted and sat down in the wooden chair opposite his desk she’d had the feeling of being prey. “You have quite the list of credentials, Lieutenant Callaway. There’s any number of things you could be doing - ferrying squadron work, for starters. Why apply for overseas duty?”
It had been a strange way to start an interview. Cord had shifted in her chair and taken a breath. Would it have been better if she’d lied, or worse? No, sir, I’ve never seen an airplane in my life, I don’t hold a pilot’s license, and I’ve never won prize money in an air race. I didn’t grow up on an airfield and I don’t know the first thing about the Army Air Corps. But her father hadn’t raised her to be a liar. “I’ve spent my whole life at Wright-Patterson, sir. I just wanted to do my bit, same as everyone else.” When you’re almost one of the boys and then all the boys start going overseas, it starts to wear a girl down a little.
“And you didn’t think ‘your bit’ was training new pilots? You’ve got more flight hours than some of the men who’ll be coming through here.”
Well, it helps if you start when you’re about fifteen or so and you’re a good student and the flying officers like you. “With respect, sir, I’m not a teacher. But I’m calm, and level-headed, and I know how to handle a plane, and that makes me just the sort of person you’d want on your tower. Flight control is just as important as any other job - and sometimes more. If a guy’s engine is on fire, he’s going to want to hear someone who can talk him out of it, if he needs.”
And then the man had smiled - actually smiled - and leaned back in his chair a little, obviously satisfied with her answer. “You can relax, Lieutenant. This isn’t an interview - you already have the job. A good commanding officer likes to know his crew before he gets started somewhere. And we’ll hope no one needs to be talked out of engine fires.”
But someone always will, sir. That’s the nature of airplanes. How many crashes had she seen at Wright - or even at the air shows? She knew all too well what a burning engine smelled like, a flamed out cowling. She hadn’t said that, of course - she knew when to keep her mouth shut. Witness Lieutenant - what was his name now? Brady, that was him, belly-landing his fort straight in from Greenland because he’d had some electrical failure and his landing gear wouldn’t engage.
They would hope there wouldn’t be any of that today - Lemmons already had something of a sour look after a noisy (and successful) campaign to rename that plane Brady’s Crash Wagon. Pilots thought they were funny, doing things like that, but crew chiefs could be superstitious about names.
Someone cleared her throat next to her. “You thinking of turning into a bird? You’ve got this look on your face like you’d like to launch off the balcony.”
Cord had to laugh. “Just admiring the view, Mae.” A jeep carrying a familiar bi-colored flight jacket came rolling around the corner, its owner whistling loudly. “Well, most of it.”
Mae laughed. “He’s the air exec, Cord. You can’t exactly get rid of him.”
“But I don’t have to be friendly, either.”
Her friend rolled her eyes. “One of these days you’re going to tell me exactly what he did to piss you off so bad.”
Where would I even start? “If it were exactly one thing I’d tell you, Mae. It’s more his entire state of being.”
“Lieutenant, you’re gonna want to come back inside.” Becky Holbrook was outside the glasshouse, binoculars in hand. “It looks like someone’s coming back early.”
Cord and Mae followed the Sergeant back inside the glass-walled observation room, and Cord took the binoculars and her position next to Anita Young on the radio, focusing on the plane on the horizon so she could try to read the numbers and assess condition. “That’s Major Veal’s plane. Looks like he’s on three engines.”
“Green flare,” Mae reported, though everyone with eyes could see it, arcing into the sky. “No need to send out the fire squad or the ambulance.” On the ground below, they saw a jeep peel out from one of the hardstands, three men clinging to their seats. “Looks like Lemmons is already on his way out.”
Another jeep joined them - the one that had only just parked at the tower. “And there goes Major Egan,” Cord said, sourly. “What the hell is he going to do?”
“Anything he can, Lieutenant.”
Cord immediately put down her binoculars and saluted, feeling foolish. “Major Bowman. There’s been nothing on the radio, sir. It looks from here like it’s just engine one that’s out.”
“As it should be,” Bowman said with approval. The intelligence officer wasn’t a physically imposing person, but Cord had spent enough time with him to know that he knew his business, and the slightly fading red hair that had given him his nickname was covering a first-rate brain. “Germans monitor all our radio traffic - Major Veal knows that. It’s different procedure here, compared to an airfield back in the states. They won’t radio in for landing instructions.” Cord looked down at her service shoes, feeling foolish. “But you’ve got a good eye about that engine, Lieutenant,” Bowman added, a gentle compliment to cover up her mistake.
“Thank you, sir.”
“Our first returned plane!” Becky said with a grin, nudging Anita and Mae. “We’re in it now!”
Beside her, she heard Bowman breathe sharply through his teeth. “We’ll get a report from him and the crew about when he turned back, and Egan will need an update on that plane’s operations status,” the intelligence officer stated, hands on his hips as he watched the plane touch down and turn down the taxiway. “Make sure no one stands down - fire teams, ambulances. We’re still waiting on the rest of the group.”
“Of course, sir.”
Bowman paused, turning away from the front of the glasshouse and stepping to the side, motioning for Cord to follow him. “You ever seen an airplane crash, Lieutenant Callaway? Apart from Lieutenant Brady’s ...unorthodox landing the other day?” He pursed his lips. “Colonel Huglin mentioned you grew up near Wright-Patterson. I want to know - if you know what we might be expecting back.”
Cord looked at him, really looked, and realized what he was asking. You mean do I know what’s waiting for the ambulances, sir? Or what a burning plane smells like? I watched a woman pancake on a pylon at Bendix, once. Took the turn too quick. Wasn’t anything to bury afterwards - just a burning wreck. I’ve seen pilots miss landings and I’ve seen gunnery practice go bad. Maybe I haven’t been in the war just yet but I know what a plane can do to a body. “Pretty frequently, sir.”
Bowman nodded. “This one was easy. The rest of it won’t be - you understand me? They may radio in to let you know what’s coming.” Manage the others was the last unspoken command. The rest won’t be pretty.
Cord fixed her eye on his and nodded, feeling the weight of his expectations and his stare. “Yes, sir. Of course, sir.” When the others come back, then we can say we’re in the war. But not before.
“Calm and steady, Callaway.”
“Always, sir.”
“And we’ll be grateful then that Major Egan’s doing everything he can, all right? Because we’re all doing everything we can, always.”
Cord swallowed the knot in her throat, knowing that at the heart of it he was right. Even she couldn’t say that Major Egan didn’t care about his airmen - and he was always doing everything he could, even if it sometimes made him a nuisance. “Right, sir.”
He nodded, and stepped back outside the glasshouse so he could go back downstairs. Cord took a deep breath, and returned to the radio, and the view out the front window. “Make a note of the time, Mae, will you? Captain Brennan will need that for the daily report.”
One plane back - nineteen more to go. She surveyed the airfield, wondering just how it would look in an hour, or two, or how the siren to call out the ambulance would sound behind the glass, and her hands tightened on her binoculars. I know airfields. I know planes. And by the end of today, I’ll know something else, too - something about war.
And aren’t you scared about it? She thought about that burning plane at Bendix again, the sound of the announcer’s voice, the collective gasp from the stands as the plane burst into flames and the flyer behind only just swerved to avoid it.
Well, my father didn’t raise a liar - so I’ll tell you: I’m damn terrified.

I’m thinking teenage Becca angst where she gets into a minor car accident and hits a pole or something bc it’s winter and slippery and she’s totally fine but the car is totaled but all Bucky hears in her phone call is “hit a pole with my car” and he’s losing it.
OKAY FUCKK (i literally did not even consider proof-reading this so if it's ass. Lol. we all have our moments i guess.)
Bucky sits next to you in bed, wearing just boxers, crew socks, and his charming wire-frame glasses. With soft muscles on display, you're thankful that Becca won't be home from her friend's house until later.
"I'm gonna smoke in a minute, if you wanna come out with me." He offers, and turns to look at you.
You stare at his lips, at his scruffy facial hair that makes him finally look like somebody's dad, and at the tattoos that creep up his neck and behind his ears. You almost forget to respond. "I'm okay tonight."
He nods in understanding and swings his legs over the side of the bed, sifting through drawers to find sweats and a hoodie to protect himself against the chilly winter weather. He takes a preroll from the nightstand drawer and leans over the bed to kiss you carefully before he steps out.
It only takes a couple of minutes before he comes back in, hysterical. He smells like weed, which is to be expected, but you know he couldn't have finished the joint he took with him so quickly.
"Bucky, what's wrong?"
"You have to drive- Rebecca crashed her car, she's-"
"What?" You stand from bed quickly, pulling on the first pair of pants you find, which happen to be Bucky's plaid pajama pants. All of the worst possibilities flood your mind. You start to choke up. "Is she okay? Where is she?"
"She's by, um, fuck, she's by the convenience store. Please, you need to drive."
"Bucky, is she fucking okay?"
"I don't know!" He shouts, and you forgive him quickly for yelling when his voice cracks and he wipes a tear from his cheek.
You slide on a pair of shoes and hop into the car, following Bucky's navigation instructions and screeching the car to a stop when you spot her car and then her, standing with her arms crossed on the sidewalk, analyzing the wreckage her poor CR-V has been reduced to.
Bucky's already holding her face, inspecting every inch of her, asking her if anything hurts by the time that you get out of the car. You take an extra jacket from your backseat and wrap it around her before Bucky envelopes the both of you in a massive hug.
He sniffles and holds her head against his chest while she cries, too.
"Are you sure nothing hurts? Not your head or your spine or your chest or anything? How fast were you going—did the seatbelt get you?"
"I swear I wasn't speeding or anything, it's just slippery, and I've never driven in the winter before, and-"
"It's okay, Becca, I know. It's alright." He kisses her head and squeezes her tighter. "That's not what I'm asking. I just want you to be okay."
"I'm okay, dad."
You notice Bucky's hand shaking almost violently when he moves it to zip her borrowed jacket, and you know it isn't because it's cold outside. "Can I go sit in the car?" She asks quietly. "I'm so fucking cold."
You nod and kiss her forehead. "Of course you can."
She climbs into the backseat and shuts the door, and you watch her reach into the front to turn up the heat. You turn to Bucky and wrap your arms around his neck. He drops his head and starts crying again almost immediately.
"I know, Bucky, I know. It's okay—she's okay." You rub his back and he quickly starts fully sobbing.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry I'm not trying to cry-" He tries to breathe deeply but it hardly works. "I just feel like I'm gonna fucking throw up. I'm just always so scared for her and I was so afraid of this happening and I know that it could've been worse, but-"
"It's alright, Buck. We'll handle it. Right? She'll be okay."
He nods and swallows thickly.
After about another hour of reporting her accident, calling a tow truck, waiting for it to arrive, and helping Bucky quit imagining all of the ways in which it could have been detrimentally worse, you end up at the emergency room.
They examine her quickly and give her a Tylenol for the sore bruises on her chest from her seat belt. While Bucky's outside smoking a cigarette and you're waiting for the final results of the x-ray they took of her chest, she tells you that she just wants to go home. You agree.
She practically lays across the backseat when you finally make it to the car.
You arrive back at home almost three hours after you first left, with Becca half asleep in the backseat and Bucky anxiously holding onto the handle on the door. You say goodnight to her downstairs, but Bucky walks up to her room with her, bringing her a glass of water and an ice pack for her swollen—not broken, thankfully, just painful—ankle.
You brush your teeth and resume the position that you took a few hours ago, this time feeling significantly more tired. He joins you soon enough, resting his head on your chest silently, firmly planting a hand on your waist.
"I love you." He whispers against you, kissing your shirt softly. "I'm really glad Becca's okay."
"I am, too." You push your hand down the back of his shirt, rubbing your thumb across the soft skin of his back, mulling over the stress of the night.
He sighs. "I wish I'd finished that joint, though. Probably wouldn't have cried so much."

Writing Patterns
I was tagged by @exhuastedpigeon Thank you!
Rules: list the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there's a pattern!
I set-up the tone of the story right at the get-go, at least, I think I do. I'm not best at analyzing my own words :)
..
All Buddie.
A Light in the Darkness  (one-shot, just vibes, post-apocalyptic)
His coordination is off; fat-feeling fingers fumbling with his turn-out coat, the snaps refusing to work. Exhausted, Eddie gives up wrestling with the damn things, yanking at the bottom until all the snaps come undone like the rest of him.
Follow You Into The Dark (one-shot, hurt/comfort, suspense,)
The moment the alarm blared, all the hair along the back of Eddie’s neck stood on end. He didn’t need to check his watch. It was after midnight, maybe one or two in the morning. It was always around the same time. He’d bet a month’s paycheck this would be a three-alarm fire at an abandoned building under suspicious circumstances.
Cutting The Ties That Bind (multi-chapter, mafia AU,)
It’d been three days since the brakes on his car had gone out. There was an active factory recall regarding the master cylinder on the same make and model Buck owned, but his uncle didn’t believe in coincidences. So, Buck suffered the indignity of being chauffeured in the back of a giant SUV like a teenager.
We All Fall Down (one-shot, missing scenes, post 6.18)
Sounds filtered through his muddled brain. Radio static. Heavy breathing. Metal creaking—no groaning. Or was that him? Was he groaning? Why was he—
Tick...Tick...Boom (one-shot, hurt/comfort)
It was a good day when all their calls ended in success. An automobile accident and an incident involving a large sinkhole resolved with only minor injuries. If they took 10th street back to the firehouse, then his and Eddie’s shift would end, and they could find some alone time.
We’ve Got Fun & Games (one-shot, humor, Amazing Race)
Giddiness ran through Buck’s veins. He stretched his arms, his hamstrings, even his calves.
Eddie, on the other hand, leaned against a tree wearing a lazy smile like he was waiting on a weather report.
Not Today  (one-shot, backstory)
The first time Eddie encountered death was at his Tía Lula’s bedside. He held her limp hand, whispering thanks for all the times they baked cookies together, for the days spent outside in her lazy hammock, or playing with her cats.
bro·ken (multi-chapter, S3 AU, diff first meeting)
The last place in the world Buck wanted to be was in one of the worst neighborhoods in the middle of the warehouse district. But his rent was due in a couple of weeks and his savings account was already depleted. Beggars couldn't be choosers.
The Shape Of Water (one-shot, backstory, hurt/comfort)
Pennsylvania was made up of trees and mountains. Every day was just another shade of gray.
We're In This Together Now (one-shot, hurt/comfort)
Eddie stared out through the window of the fire truck counting the number of billboards rushing past. Occasionally, he risked a glance in Buck’s direction, confirming that Buck was also staring out a window. Both trying to ignore the other.

Otaku guardian of the gate - Chapter 1
Tumblr media
You've been looking forward to this trip all your life and you finally got it. Even when you were little, everyone saw you following in your parents' footsteps. You could even say that they infected you with the desire to find the mysterious gate from Atlantis.
When you were older, you all looked for her together. That is, until that fateful accident when they left you here alone. You couldn't get over it for a long time. Maybe until the time when you decided to find the given treasure in their honour.
With this plan, you stood aboard a small yacht equipped with sonar and various computers in the middle of the open ocean and three small uncharted islands. Apparently, the gate should be under one of the islands.
Equipped with special diving gear, you stood on the edge of the ship and watched the water below you. There was a strange calm. Sometimes a fish or a lone shark swam by, but that was it. It was strange because by all accounts it should have been a complete fish paradise.
You checked the necessary things one last time before you jumped. The water was warmer than you expected. You sank and headed for the bottom. You could already see that there were many sunken ships of different nationalities and from different times.
Long Viking ships decorated with shields, which were partially buried by sand, Japanese frigates, Spanish galleons, giant ships with torn black flags flying in the currents, metal warships and many others.
You swam around the rocks, trying to find anything that might indicate a gate. You found something like an alley of statues in various poses. Based on the style, you assumed they came from ancient Greece. Some were missing their heads, others their limbs, and some were whole. Museums would fight over it.
Subsequently, you found several stones in which various symbols were engraved, the likes of which you had never seen in your life. You then came to a rock that had smooth straight walls and a rectangular entrance leading inside. As if there was once a former door. You tried your luck there. Apart from a few old containers, you didn't find much there. That is, except for the giant black scale, which glistened orange and purple in the light.
After a long day with no organized results, when you may not have found your gate, but instead a lot of other things that could have been a great discovery in themselves. After writing the report, check the photos and all of today's knowledge, which you also checked with your notes. You were definitely close.
Now, after a day of work, it was finally time for a little rest. You were originally thinking about a movie or your favourite TV series where you wouldn't have to think too much and would rather relax. It all sounded tempting, but you had already seen it, and on the other hand, you remembered an anime that you downloaded in case of emergency and that you promised your friend that you would watch.
This anime called The Magical Ruri Hana: Demon Girl was her favorite and she kept convincing you to watch it too. After constant coercion, you nodded your agreement, earning yourself a hug from a lot of octopus, possibly breaking a rib or two.
You made yourself comfortable and played the episode on your laptop. You watched outside on the deck because the weather was nice and you didn't want to shut yourself inside unnecessarily.
After about the first 10 minutes the boat rocked slightly on the waves and you felt as if something was watching you. You settled yourself a little better and turned briefly to look back.
The original thought that it was nothing, just some fantasy, very quickly turned into Damn, Damn, what is this? You completely froze when you saw your reflection in a giant orange eye that resembled the eye of a snake.
At first, the eye looked like it was watching anime with you, but then it focused on you, winked, and disappeared in a flash with a giant splash under the water. It wasn't until the creature disappeared that you realized you'd been holding your breath the whole time.
The brain could not recover from the shock. A giant eye meant a giant creature and this was a giant snake. The rational part of you tried to explain that it was just a vision, a mere imagination. The other part of you was screaming at you that it was Leviathan, the mythical guardian of Atlantis and that you were damn close.
To take your mind off something else, you played the first episode again from the time you saw the snake. So you watched the first two episodes without any incident and you became calm that it was all just your desire for discovery. When you played the third episode, halfway through, the ship rocked again, and you once again had the strange feeling that you were being watched.
You turned around and there it was again. A giant eye with an iris coloured orange with dark purple edges belonging to a giant black snake. The eye focused on you again and looked like it was about to sink again when you called out to it.
"Wait!" you exclaimed, running ahead to the railing. The snake was already almost completely submerged and only a piece of its head with eyes and horns that resembled branched dark blue corals was visible.
"You can watch with me!" you exclaimed without even thinking about it. Just so the snake wouldn't sink again and you could get a better look at it.
The snake seemed to hesitate for a moment before re-emerging and tilting its head to get a better view of the computer. He even rested his head lightly against the ship, which had tilted a little. As she leaned over, the snake took off its head again, as if it was afraid that it would sink you otherwise.
When you were both "settled" you started watching. You watched the entire first series and it was truly an incredible experience. Because you would never have thought that a giant snake would enjoy this kind of anime so much.
You could tell for yourself that it wasn't your cup of coffee and you enjoyed the changing scenery of the expressions on the snake's face more than the anime. Shock, joy, nervousness...
He always got excited when the main character appeared there and either hissed or snorted when someone wronged her. It was truly an incredible spectacle. In the moonlight, his body played with orange and purple highlights.
You turned it off after midnight as your eyes were slowly drooping and you were slowly falling asleep to it. Before you turned it off, the snake disappeared under the water and your boat swayed so much that you had to grab onto something to keep from falling. Such an experience. No one would ever believe you.
