EVE (PARADISE LOST)

1.) I recognise how insane this submission is because this was written in 1667 and so attitudes towards women were obviously very different. But misogyny has always existed, no matter the time period, and so I think it’s fair to pick up on it. Although Milton somewhat avoids painting Eve as the wicked seductress, she is nevertheless presented as inherently inferior to Adam - her ‘virtue’ and 'passion’ are supposed to be an equal counterpart to Adam’s intellect but Milton’s clear resentment of Eve shines through. She is vain from the beginning - enamoured with her own reflection until she meets Adam. She is Adam’s subordinate and readily accepts her place in the hierarchy below him, until she meets Satan. Women seeking power and knowledge is therefore inextricably tied to the fall of mankind. Her attempt for some kind of independence away from Adam (going to tend the garden away from him) is also presented as the primary reason she succumbed to Satan because Adam is needed to protect her. Eve (the mother of all women) therefore creates the assumption that women are weak and easily misled away from men. The description of her eating the apple is very sexual - perhaps reflecting the anxieties of men at the time of being cuckolded and therefore dishonoured by their wives. She is the ultimate disobedient, dangerous wife. Her reason for sharing the forbidden knowledge with Adam, rather than keeping it for herself, is because she is worried she will face the wrath of God and be replaced with another Eve. So it is her jealousy that brings them both down. (It is all a lot more complicated than this so Eng lit people don’t kill me) but yeah poor Eve.

CORDELIA CHASE (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER/ANGEL THE SERIES) (CW: Pregnancy)

1.) (downs an entire bottle of vodka and slams it back on the table) SO. CORDY. Cordy started off as a supporting character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. At the start she was your typical high school mean girl character, but as the show went on we got to see more depth to her character: her insecurities, her courage, her capacity for incredible acts of kindness. Then after the third season she moved into the show’s spin off, Angel, where from the beginning she was basically the show’s secondary protagonist. Her and Angel were the two mainstays of the show’s main cast, she gets the most episodes centered on her out of all the characters aside from Angel (and yes, I’ve checked), and we really got to see her grow from a very shallow and self-centered and kind of mean person to a true hero who was prepared to give up any chance at a normal life to fight the good fight while still never losing the basic core of her character. There were some… questionable moments like the episode where she gets mystically pregnant with demon babies and things got a bit iffy like halfway through season 3 where the writers seemed to run out of ideas for what to do with her outside of sticking her in this romance drama/love triangle situation with the main character but overall, pretty good stuff right? THEN SEASON 4 HAPPENED. In season 4 she gets stripped of literally all agency and spends pretty much the entire season possessed by an evil higher power, and while possessed she sleeps with Angel’s teenage son (who BY THE WAY she had helped raise as a baby before he got speed-grown-up into a teenager it was a whole thing don’t worry about it) and gets pregnant with like. the physical manifestation of the higher power that’s possessing her. it’s about as bad and stupid as it sounds and also is like the third time cordy’s got mystically pregnant in this show and like the fourth mystical pregnancy storyline overall (you will be hearing more on that note in other submissions I’m so sorry). after giving birth she goes into a coma, in which she remains for the rest of season 4 and the first half of season 5. SPEAKING OF WHICH DON’T THINK SEASON 5 IS GETTING OFF SCOT FREE HERE. yeah so in season 5 the show just FULLY starts trying to erase cordy’s existence. she gets mentioned ONCE in the first episode and then never again until halfway through the season where she wakes up, helps out Angel for a bit and encourages him in his fight against evil, and then goes quietly into that good night and dies so it can be all sad and tragic. I’d call it the worst fridging of all time but even THAT feels generous because the whole point of fridging is killing off a female character so a man can be sad, and after Cordy dies basically no one’s even sad about it because the show immediately goes back to pretending she never existed. she is not mentioned ONCE in the two episodes after she dies. in the whole stretch of time between her death and the end of the season she gets mentioned exactly four times. again, I counted. anyway the fun twist to all of this is that all of this happened because the actress who played cordy got pregnant before season 4 and joss whedon was so pissed off about this affecting his plans for the show that he decided to completely fuck over her character and then fire her and write her out of the show. so cordy’s a victim of both writing AND real life misogyny!! good times!!

2.) OH SO MANY THINGS they menaced by giving her terrible hair cuts, making her seem like she’d get together with the guy she loves (and who loves her back) but instead she was killed and when she was brought back, she got possessed by an evil entity who used her body to give birth to itself. afterwards she was in a long coma and died. her character was so throughoutly assassinated

3.) She got demonically pregnant TWICE - there was this real sense of a womb/ability to get pregnant as like, a place for evil to get in. She got positioned as femme fatale and evil mother. The actress basically got fired for being pregnant, and when she agreed to come back for a single final episode she specifically said they could do anything but kill off the character. Guess what happened

You groaned as the lights went back on. Moon had been in a frisky mood, and as soon as he had spotted you in the empty daycare, just here to say hi after one of you security rounds, he had pulled you somewhere out of sight to touch you all over. And it hadn't even started cute like he sometimes would initiate with some kisses, some hugging, maybe even some teasing tickling, no he went straight for his prize; your pants and underwear were down as soon as he had pulled you to a safe spot. 

"Good day to you too, Moon," you said as you realised you were now naked from the waist down,  Moon hovering over you with a shit eating grin, and fingers at the ready. 

 "Naughty little Star," he giggled, voice edged with his signature growl, "When were you going to tell me and Sun that you had the last week off?" 

Oh, that's what you had forgotten. You were a 100% certain you had told Sun at least once, but he might've been in the middle of wrangling some kids, and you had told yourself you'd tell him properly when he'd be able to actually listen to you. And then you'd completely forgotten. 

"I did," you squeaked, but didn't sound very persuasive as Moon already had one finger wriggling inside of you. "Moon, you're really-" 

"Liar, liar, pants on fire," Moon sang, thrusting one long finger in with every word. "For forgetting and lying I'm now going to punish you." 

And what a punishment it was. First you were unsure how him fingering you could be punishment, until you were so close to the edge and you suddenly feared he was going to deny you your orgasm. He didn't. With a growl he told you to come, and you gasped as you did, realising with fear he wasn't stopping his rough thrusting. His other hand had found itself under your shirt, kneading your boobs as he growled against the skin of your thighs. Sharp teeth just rubbing against the skin as his tongue came out to lick up against your outer lips. 

"That's one. Can you keep count for me, Sweetling?" 

And it hadn't stopped at that one, or the one after that, you were already sobbing in the minutes it took for the lights to come back on, sticky and sore as Moon had brought you over the edge quite some times. Relief flooded you as the lights sprung on, but Moon's giggle and the little wave he did promised you more to come. At least being with Sun would grant you some relief from Moon's pleasure turned torture, or so you thought. 

You quickly realised that was not the case as Sun came out, pout in his voice so evident you could've sworn his permanent smile had turned into a frown. 

"Sun, I really told you," you mumbled desperately, weak from Moon's onslaught, and so ready for a little break, but Sun wouldn't hear it.

"I can't remember, Sunflower, and therefore it never, ever happened. My memories are perfect, you know?" He wiggled his fingers, still slick from your juices, inspecting them briefly before pushing you back down onto the little nest that you were in. 

“Please, Sunbun, I need to get back to doing my rounds, my job-“ 

“Can wait,” Sun interrupted, almost sounding mean when he pressed his cool fingers against your clit that was still throbbing and swollen. “Moon had his chance to punish you, and now it’s my turn. It’s only fair!” He leaned down to give you a peck on the lips, but his sweetness was offset by the rubbing of his fingers over your body, telling you he was still being strict with you. Punishment far from over.

His long fingers slipped inside, and you sobbed as you felt you body respond instantly. And really, for all your complaining this was the best kind of punishment you could’ve wished for. It was going to be a long night.

They’d been getting ready to deploy, the weight of the galaxy on their shoulders, the anticipation of “maybe this is it, we’ll get Grievous this time” coiled tight in the bellies of every 212th trooper.

They loaded the venator, they packed their things - few though they may be - and they got ready for the jump to Utapau.

And then suddenly it was over. They didn’t know what had happened. They weren’t jumping to Utapau, they weren’t even loaded onto the venator anymore.

Something had happened.

The rumor was another brother had done it. A commander. Not just any commander but the Coruscant Guard’s own Marshal Commander - Fox.

Boil found he almost couldn’t breathe from the wave of emotions that flowed through while he watched the holonet news feed. Hands on his hips -bucket having been abandoned somewhere between the ship, the barracks, and where he stood now in City Plaza - he couldn’t stop reading the headline:

His ears perked and he spun around, arms open and ready for the ball of sunshine that was barreling his way.

“Did you see? Is it real? It’s real isn’t it?! It’s over? It’s really over?!” Waxer yelled as he jumped into Boil’s arms.

Armor be damned, Waxer could’ve weighed 1000 pounds and Boil wouldn’t have felt the difference. He’d never felt so light and happy in his entire life as Waxer showered his forehead with sloppy wet kisses.

“Yeah,” Boil laughed, squeezing Waxer as tight as their armor would allow as ticker-tape and confetti rained down around them, “I think it’s really over.”

natasha had never expected her career as naval aviator to change her this much. granted, she never expected her backseater to be half angry green rage monster either. bob's not technically a superhero, given the fact that he's in the backseat of a jet. but he does have the 'green gene' as he referred to it. and when he and nat had gotten into a crash, at some point his blood had gotten into one of her wounds and altered her dna. dealing with the aftermath of that was fun... so, now, not only is she a successful woman in a male dominated field and has to deal with the negative side of that -- she is now superhuman and has to learn how to keep her rage in check.

ATHENA CYKES (ACE ATTORNEY)

1.) Despite supposedly being the MAIN CHARACTER of the game she was introduced in, she somehow still always ends up playing second fiddle to Phoenix and Apollo, to the point where she isn’t allowed to take the lead on even so much as a single case. Instead of the senior lawyers standing to the side in a mentorship role like they do for literally EVERY OTHER PLAYABLE CHARACTER, Phoenix and Apollo keep stepping in to outright take over for her. She literally does not make it through even a single case without needing some male character or other to swoop in and hold her hand every step of the way, not only Phoenix and Apollo but once even Blackquill, her rival prosecutor, as well.

Why? It has nothing whatsoever to do with her competence level. It’s a video game; her competence is determined by the player’s, just like everybody else. It seems like the writers just couldn’t STAND the thought of her doing anything on her own, or thought that the players would walk out en masse if it wasn’t the Phoenix and Apollo Show every second of gameplay. (And yeah, it DOES sometimes take me some time to warm up to new characters, but that was the case for Apollo too! At least give me the CHANCE to judge her on her own merits rather than assuming that I’ll immediately write her off!) Like, why did you even WRITE this character if you think so little of her?

2.) WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN. She’s introduced in the middle of a male characters “trilogy” (Apollo justice) so the story is never about her. She appears in aa5 only to NEVER headline her own case IN HER INTRODUCTORY GAME and always fail unless a man comes in and saves her. Her own story is sidelined for Apollos. Next game, she only really appears in one case that’s a throwaway and still can’t do shit on her own. Ugh. She deserved to be treated better, more competent, etc.

3.) my girl is an attorney and a practicing psychologist at age 18 (youngest defense lawyer in the series) & is often shown to be more competent than her male colleagues, and yet is constantly pushed out/sidelined/generally treated like an assistant character rather than a lawyer (the assistant position in these games is usually reserved for characters who don’t have law degrees/are generally not educated enough to understand the courtroom proceedings to their full extent. athena is none of those things but she gets treated the same way by the game because. well. we know why.) Instead of being the main playable attorney in her debut game, the story is taken over by her male colleague (WHO ALREADY HAD A WHOLE GAME DEDICATED TO HIS BULLSHIT BTW) & her development is ignored in favor of his in both her debut game AND her second game. Even when her backstory IS explored it’s done via a male family friend of hers, meaning even when her OWN story is being told it’s not even about her it’s about simon’s lame ass. for extra context here in her debut game she is only the playable attorney in one case out of five, while the other (male) playable attorneys were playable in all or all-but-one of the cases in THEIR debut games. capcom hates women sooooo bad

KOTORI MIZUKI/TORI MEADOWS (YU-GI-OH! ZEXAL)

1.) first: ygo zexal is directed (and partially written) by known misogynist shin yoshida who is on record as saying that he would Never write female characters if he wasn’t being forced to by higher-ups. kotori’s voice actor signed a legal contract forcing him to include her character in Every Single Episode. she gets no duels that aren’t tag duels (2v2 duels), one of those is interrupted in the middle and all others she both loses, aren’t even shown in full, and all happen in the same episode. she is literally contractually required to be a major character and the dude in charge still point blank refuses to do anything with her despite the fact that she’s supposed to be the female lead of the series. please take pity on her for being handed to one of the worst people in the world and how despite the active attempts by other people to make her relevant in the story she was still denied that

2.) She only dueled once in the whole show and it was when she was brainwashed. Her main role is to only cheer the male protag on and say his name during his duels I guess.
