Monday July 24th - July 30th 2023

The 2023 Out of The Shadows event is built to shine a light on some of the less prominent areas of the DC bat fandom. This involves focusing on characters, relationships, eras and tropes that aren't often the focus of fandom today. We've created some prompts below to spark your inspiration!

There are no word or quality requirements, all fanart and fanfic is welcome. We've already got a few submissions that we're excited to share! Remember to tag #dcoutoftheshadows and @holyserverbatman to get your creations attached to the event, and remember you can add it to our AO3 collection as well!

Btw to the people going 'Well Hamas is bad and Palestinians voted Hamas in therefore Palestinians deserve to get killed'

That happened in 2006. 17 years ago. Any Palestinian who is 34 and under COULD NOT HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THAT ELECTION, and this is INCLUDING the children currently being slaughtered

Along with that Hamas isnt every person in Gaza, thats like saying every American is Donald Trump and supports his actions because they voted him in. Its so obviously wrong when you apply it to literally anything that isnt Palestine

Shut the fuck up and stop supporting actual literal genocide, from river to sea, Palestine will be free

Edit: To the people saying 'Even if everyone supported Hamas that doesnt justify genocide' I absolutely 100% agree. Nothing justifies genocide, however this post is directed at people who try to "excuse" Israels actions by saying 'Well Hamas would do the same thing if they could and Palestinians voted them in so obviously theyre also bad so dont try to support Gaza because theyre just as bad as Israel'

Out Of The Shadows Event Notice!

Hello! You may have noticed that our event has not been advertised recently, that's our bad, sorry!! It was originally meant to be an event that took place throughout June, but unfortunately mods had conflicts. But we still want this to happen!

This event will now take place the week of July 24th-30th.

Out of respect to our original timeline, if you published anything in either June or July that fit our prompts, then feel free to tag us! We'll allow it all into the collection.

This is an event to bring less popular characters, relationships, and timelines into the light! The focus should be on less popular platonic pairings, and canon events that don't receive much attention. Are you passionate about Cassandra Cain? Today I was talking to someone and Palestine came up and their response to it was 'Not my country, not my problem'

So let me just spell it out for you

It is your problem when you willfully ignore people telling you about Palestinians being slaughtered

It is your problem when you buy and support companies that are actively aiding in the genocide

It is your problem when you stand by, knowing full well that people are being killed in the thousands and deciding to let it happen
