Mon 26th June

We had the loveliest little weekend away! We went an hour up the coast and camped Saturday night. Spent most of that night at the beach, in a BIKINI, SWIMMING IN THE NORTH SEA! I have never been able to do that before. It was like being abroad.

Walked 20 something miles on Sunday, just following the coast south along the beaches most of the way, through all the little seaside towns we used to visit as kids! Had ice cream at the last one, then turned round and walked back to our campsite. Got caught in some heavy downpours (weather forecast said light showers!) so we ended up wimping out and coming home Sunday night rather than spending another night in the tent with wet, soggy, stinky stuff. I like camping, but once my shoes and rucksack are soaked through I am not happy 🤣 we had pizza in the car at the end of our walk while it was raining torrentially and hopped out to pack the tent up as soon as it stopped and came home lol. Glad we did though bc we got up this morning feeling refreshed and went back to visit Bamburgh Castle which we had passed on our walk. Had dinner at a pub in Bamburgh and came home. A whirlwind of a weekend but a weekend very well spent!
