God I hate full season releases it hurts engagement so much and makes it so hard to talk about the show. It also means people who are consuming it slowly can’t interact with the rest of the fandom because some people will have already finished it and spoilers will be inevitable. Plus weekly releases just build more hype
More weekly releases please!

once again thinking about MDZS' flashback placement, and how we get to see wei wuxian's sadness and regret over how he treated lwj during sunshot before we actually see their first bad fight in the yiling courier station
like, sure we are told even by wwx himself that hgj and the yllz had a feud, but the only "feud" we've seen early on is their silly teenage rivalry, and before we get to the point where their relationship is strained, we already receive bits of pieces of information that point out to lwj being worried about him, lwj trying to reach out and being denied, and finally wei wuxian's lament over what he was already beginning to understand as a misunderstanding
and we haven't even seen that fight yet

(these are just some examples i could think from the top of my head, but there are def more. what i basically mean to say is that i think it matters that we see these right before the xuanwu cave, lotus pier destruction and wwx's return flashbacks)

i started watching elementary and the plots are incredibly ridiculous. i enjoy the leads but idk if i can keep going.
it's still the 'asshole genius' trope but the redeeming quality is that he's acknowledged as an asshole, and even within the first 3 episodes his assholishness has actually been counterproductive instead of always proven right and justified, etc.

What shows are you watching on appletv?
So obviously Silo has just finished, and I'm currently watching The Crowded Room and Hijack. I've enjoyed all of them... I've seen some mixed reviews on the Crowded Room and it does feel a little slow, but it's keeping me interested (and I enjoy Sasha Lane in everything). And Hijack is just exactly my kinda show honestly, even though I'm pretty sure everything about it is highly implausible.

Ffs I just watched a show from 1980 about trends in the gay scene in London that was reporting on gay people like they'd discovered a new species in the wilderness, but putting that aside, I'm actually kinda shook by how POORLY these people understood gender and how it relates to sexuality. They were reporting on drag shows (and were basically like "Are drag shows popular with homosexuals? Why? Aren't gay men not interested in women?"), leather daddies ("Why do some gay people like drag and some like butch leather? The leather scene is very aggressive, why are gay men embracing traditional masculinity?"), and clone fashion ("Why do gay men want to dress like the working class? Is this an attempt to pass?"), contrasted all of the above with stereotypical effeminate behavior, and never ONCE did anyone, including people who seemed to be adjacent to queer academia, mention the idea of playing with gender, the distinction between sexuality and gender, or gender subversion. Even when talking about effeminate gay men, they were like, "Well, these are people who failed to live up to the masculine ideals, so they can't be men. So what's left? Effeminate mannerisms and drag." (Ah yes, because that's the only available option?!) Even the leather daddy interviewed was like, “Yeah the effeminate gay stereotypes were embarrassing so we created a new option.” Like. And I'm like....holy shit, holy shit, right, Gender Trouble didn't come out until 1990. Without a doubt, many gay people in these movements could've articulated these ideas, but in the wider culture, it was virtually unknowable. So even in this open-minded documentary, which clearly had a neutral/favorable view of gay culture, there could be no real discussion of gender versus sexuality, subverting binaries, gender as performance, etc, and I just….. sometimes I just forget. Anyway, good job, y’all, we’ve come a long way in changing the public discourse in a pretty short time.
