I’m about to go on a bit of a rant but bear with me
These excerpts are from Jason’s wiki page and the Gotham knights official character bios and they identify red hood as being basically as strong as a human being can get without the aid of super powers and such and I really love that for him. It identifies him as basically the strongest of the batfam and since his character stats describe him as the heaviest bat then this makes perfect sense
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, as a college weightlifting athlete who hangs out with national and international level weightlifters who would be around Jason’s age on the regular it really frustrates me when I see DC claim again and again that Jason has reached “peak human strength” and such but refuses to draw him a lot of the time as someone who realistically would be capable of such feats cause like if you’ve ever seen the kind of guys who lift the most at weightlifting and strongman competitions they 100% do not have snatched waists or 6-packs. In order to lift that much you need a wide and strong core and enough fat that your muscles are definitely not super defined. In fact, usually they look a lot like this
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s a powerful, sexy, and healthy body type! But DC artists are too worried that if they don’t draw all of their main characters as stick thin or unhealthily lean then they won’t be “sexy enough” for their readers and honestly I think that’s bullshit and proves that DC really doesn’t know or care much about what their fanbase wants at all and are really stuck in a repetitive rut about what they think a “sexy” character should look like
