Heartstopper Season 2 Spoilers
Heartstopper season 2 was perfect, and Alice Oseman is a cinematic and literature genius but I would like to take a few moments to draw some attention to.....
Tumblr media
This boy right here.
(look how sweet he is omg)
I can't get over Isaacs arch in heartstopper, especially in season 2.
Ace representation is so few and far between as it is, and good representation is even more scarce, but having that sort of representation at the forefront of a show? And having it accurately depicted, and not infantilized? Showing the complexities of it? Basically unheard of. But Holy Fuck did Alice Oseman deliver.
At the end of season 2 he is just finding out what aro/asexuality is and reading up on it. He knows it exists and he knows that it applies to him. And he faced some of the difficulties of being aro/ace with James and with the isolation and feeling like he's not interesting unless he has a romantic interest, these are all very real and not commonly talked about things that people have experienced.
And oh my god was it euphoric to see on screen.
Growing up and watching all your friends have crushes and get into relationships and fawn over people and never experiencing that same thing is so isolating. Even in accepting environments and in good friend groups (as seen on the show) it always feels like your an odd one out, and outsider, etc.
So the scene where Isaac goes "I think their might be something wrong with me.", that hits home to so many people who grew up not understanding why they were different.
I've talked about on here before why labels are so important to people, and this is a perfect example of it. You can learn to accept yourself and love yourself and be completely self confident but if there's something fundamentally different about you, there's always going to be a voice in the back of your head reminding you of that. Learning a label, or a word, that represents something that you might have already accepted as something that's a character flaw, there's no word to describe it, it's so relieving. It means there are people like you who have lived to create that label, it means your not alone with it, it means you have a community.
And having this shown on tv, especially at a time like now where people are trying to cover up anything that reminds people that LGBT people exist, is going to tell so many kids that there is nothing wrong with them, and they're not defected, and they're not broken.
And Isaacs whole arch (even thought it's not completed) handled this perfectly. Because there were moments that shows that Isaac is in some ways separate from the group. They love him, but he's different, they care about him, but he doesn't have a romantic interest, so his presence isn't as acknowledged.
And I think that in Season 3 (assuming theres going to be a season 3) we're going to get to see this expanded on. We might get to see Isaac coming out to the rest of the group, and learning how to cope with not having access to something that a lot of people say is what makes people human.
Heartstopper is such an amazing show and Alice Oseman is incredible. The cast is incredible. Everything about everything about that production is incredible.

“Uh-huh. Newsflash, pal. I’m the only experimental ranger around the galaxy.”
A title the robot ranger was proud of. To say there are others ‘just like him’ was offensive, as well as a shot at his ego and pride. Galactic robot rangers. Yeah right. He was unique. That’s why the LGM built him.
Well.
He was built to be a replacement for his brother and Warp. His charming personality came later when they didn’t know what they were doing. But this guy did not need to know that. His origin story was for Buzz, the LGM and his dad. Something XR would like to keep it that way.
The way he talks about organics really keeps reminding him of Flint.
Expendable.
How he loathes that word. Mainly because his job seems to think that’s what the ‘X’ in his name stands for. Sometimes, he even gets the feeling his friends think so as well. Booster even admitted it once.
But the robot ranger tries hard not to show his doubts. In fact, there was the sudden ego boost.
“Hah! Obviously. I am the most valued member of Team Lightyear. They would be lost without my awesome robot strength. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve saved the da- hey wait.“
XR squints. Now he is one of a kind when he said before there are others like him? That does not add up.
“Flattery will get you nowhere, villain. Though, do go on.“
So much to flattery will get you nowhere.

[image id: a four-page comic. it is titled "immortality” after the poem by clare harner (more popularly known as “do not stand at my grave and weep”). the first page shows paleontologists digging up fossils at a dig. it reads, “do not stand at my grave and weep. i am not there. i do not sleep.” page two features several prehistoric creatures living in the wild. not featured but notable, each have modern descendants: horses, cetaceans, horsetail plants, and crocodilians. it reads, “i am a thousand winds that blow. i am the diamond glints on snow. i am the sunlight on ripened grain. i am the gentle autumn rain.” the third page shows archaeopteryx in the treetops and the skies, then a modern museum-goer reading the placard on a fossil display. it reads, “when you awaken in the morning’s hush, i am the swift uplifting rush, of quiet birds in circled flight. i am the soft stars that shine at night. do not stand at my grave and cry.” the fourth page shows a chicken in a field. it reads, “i am not there. i did not die” / end id]
a comic i made in about 15 hours for my school’s comic anthology. the theme was “evolution”

ohhhhhh I truly cannot get over the EVIL GENIUS of having crowley make a point of immediately taking his sunglasses off every time he's in the bookshop or alone with aziraphale this season, showing just how comfortable he's become showing his emotions and his vulnerability to aziraphale since season 1, opening himself up completely at every opportunity, showing us a side of him that's remained almost entirely hidden for millennia, only for him to silently and purposefully put his sunglasses back on immediately once aziraphale rejects his love confession. like, bravo gaiman, I saw what you did there and I'm never going to fucking recover from it. well done

He was known well enough in the Territory to be the subject of a quip in the Times.

"Embracing the journey of becoming well-known has been a remarkable experience, one that's taught me the power of service and the resilience of my own personality. As my visibility increased, so did the responsibility I felt towards the people who supported me. It's not just about recognition; it's about the impact you make on lives.
In this journey, I've realized that being well-known isn't merely a pedestal to stand on, but a platform to uplift others. The more I've been seen, the more I've recognized the potential to create positive change. It's humbling to know that my actions and words hold weight, influencing decisions and perspectives. This realization has driven me to ensure that my intentions remain rooted in compassion and authenticity.
Amidst the attention and the clamor, my personality has been my guiding light. It's easy to get lost in the noise, to become someone you're not, but staying true to myself has been non-negotiable. My quirks, my values, my passions – they've been the cornerstones of my journey. In fact, my personality has become my greatest asset, attracting a community that resonates with who I am, not just what I do.
Serving others has become second nature, almost a responsibility that comes with the territory of being well-known. Every message I receive, every interaction I have, reminds me of the impact I have on people's lives. It's both a privilege and a duty. But in this continuous cycle of giving, I've learned that self-care is just as vital. The more I give, the more I must replenish myself emotionally and spiritually.
The pursuit of being well-known has brought challenges and rewards, successes and failures. Through it all, one thing has remained constant – the importance of staying authentic and grounded. No matter how much I achieve, my personality will always be the thread that weaves my story together. It's a reminder that amidst the chaos of fame, staying true to oneself is the ultimate achievement."

Compel
Compelled tasks lack reality. Disinterested work never qualifies. Attempting a task by force or without interest creates bad results. Work done with interest may be correct or wrong. It will be valuable. The efforts will be void. And it will automatically bring nice results after one or two trials. If not interested, avoid the condition by revealing the reason for not performing. Compelling in…

I wonder if I will get known for? Most likely fandom or trendy thingamajig lmao. Could be obvious. If it's not both, what will it be? Animation? Character designs? Nahhh, it's unlikely due to my motivation, it requires lots of things in order to do that, especially originality.

Honestly I think a lot of people who have never made a gif for tumblr don't get that it does actually take time and effort, its not just rip it from a video and post it- you have to download the video, in my case I have a video player installed that grabs continuous caps, figure out what parts you need, you have to open those in photoshop or gimp, depending on where you got photoshop you might be paying for it every month and then on top of that is actually sizing, cropping, colouring, sharpening, adding text, etc. etc. like it is something that takes time and effort for which the only real reward is creating something that makes you happy and hopefully people reblog it with a nice or funny tag, so maybe keep that in mind the next time you think gif makers are being mean or unfair for being upset about reposts. It is its own little artform that is fairly unique to this website, and that's a big aspect of why I have always loved tumblr, if all the gifmakers stopped posting things would be a lot more boring around here.

See when I say there's no show like BBC Merlin, it's like... it's the little things you know....
Tumblr media
For example, Merlin casually spilling wine (water?) on Arthur as he serves them. It's not a main focus of the scene and they don't pull any attention to it, yet it's so funny and so in character. Esp with Arthur about to say something, realising it's not worth it and just wiping his hand as Merlin continues serving, none the wiser
