The Gloaming Tethers
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Gloaming tethers are a pair of ritual fetishes that hold great significance in my personal tradition.
The first of the two pictured here (from left to right) serves a talismanic link to my Witch-Queen—who I often call Bone Mother—and to the Chthonic Realm of the Underworld that she oversees. It was fashioned from a Black Basalt Hagstone, secured by a cord strung with 13 bone beads, including six beads made from Prehistoric Horse Bone, six beads made from Prehistoric Deer Bone, and one bead made from Antique Whale Bone that I inherited. The end-piece is a token of 6,000 year old Bog Yew, carved with a triskelion, and glazed with a wood varnish made using Storax resin. I utilize this Talisman when working with Ancestral Spirits, or with Chthonic Wights, such as psychopomps.
The second of these serves a talismanic link to my Witch-Father—who I often call Wilding King—and to the Upper Realm of the Elemental World that he oversees. It was fashioned from a White Quartz Hagstone, secured by a cord strung with 13 handmade wood beads of alternating Elder, Hazel, Hawthorn, and Rowan. The end-piece is a token of local Elk shed-horn, carved to resembled a great tree, and glazed with a wood varnish made using Amber resin. I utilize this Talisman when working with Animistic Spirits or Elemental Wights.
Each of these Ritual Tethers are sacred to me. They each rest in places of power, pertinent to their respective magical nature, when not in use.

"As someone who has never really paid for anything esoteric before, I was hesitant at first to hire Lailoken, but thank goodness I did! After rave reviews from another client of his (my wife,) I decided to take the plunge and hire him to help me with a work issue.
I was having a hard time with two new managerial executives that were brought into my work from out of state, who were becoming progressively more abusive towards me and other staff members. It was getting the point where I was really considering quitting, despite the financial insecurity it would cause, which is when my wife finally convinced me to seek help from Lailoken.
After explaining the process some and working out payment with me, he eventually did two different rituals that were meant to stop these managers' abusive behavior towards me, that were each tailored to their individual personalities. Let me tell you, I could hardly believe it when, literally days after the spells were done, my managers began to leave me alone; the less cruel of the two even seemed to start liking me from then on! They have continued to leave me be since then, and I couldn't be more grateful.
I can definitely say that I am a believer, and that I will be back for help in the future!"

Q: “What got you interested in playing the banjo?” Peter Tork: “My folks had Weavers records in the house. Weavers was the group that Pete Seeger belonged to. They were the nation’s top vocal group in, I think, 19- oh God, I don’t know what, ‘49 or something like that. They had a record out [...] which was essentially an anglicized version of the song they later did in Hebrew, a Hebrew dance tune, it was a lot of fire and fun, they did it with an orchestra then, it was very commercial. Pete Seeger, Ronnie Gilbert, Lee Hayes, Fred Hellerman were The Weavers and they were basically a commercial pop group based on kind of a folk music kind of an operation. And they went along pretty strongly until the McCarthy hearings and then they were pretty much shoved underground for a long time until their reunion in, what, about, oh, I don’t know, ‘57 or ‘-8 or ‘59 or something like that, and from then on it was about I guess it would be ‘56, because I’d be 14 and they... and, yeah, I got my banjo about then. And I asked for a banjo, and they went out, my folks went out and bought me a little tiny, dinky five-string banjo. And Pete Seeger’s book, How To Play the Five-String Banjo, I think I bought that myself, and learned how to play from that. Nobody said, ‘Here, take a banjo,’ or, ‘Gee, you’d be good at it,’ or anything like that. I just wanted to play it.” - Headquarters radio, 1989
Dear Mr. Tork, I am so glad you are willing to talk to your fans like this, what a great idea! You've always seemed to be a beautiful person in so many ways. I wish you had put out an album of your banjo songs. Having said that, I am 31 years old, and I listen to your music in all its incarnations a lot, so much so that I fell in love with the banjo because of it. My best friend of over 20 years bought me a banjo for my birthday. So, I would like to know if a banjo is difficult to learn for someone with no musical ability or experience (the 4th grade clarinet lessons don't count). Or is there another instrument I should try to learn first like piano or guitar? Do you have any tips for someone starting out on an instrument or the banjo in particular? Thank you, Peace and love to you and yours, Eve P.S. I love your middle name.
Dear Eve, As far as I’m concerned, no instrument is harder than any other, overall. If you want to play the banjo, play the banjo. I recommend most particularly Pete Seeger’s book, How to Play the 5-String Banjo. It was hugely valuable to my learning. The thing about the banjo, at least the way I play it, is that there is a kind of hump that’s a bit high getting over right at the start. Once that’s behind you (and it’ll take a month or six weeks depending on how hard you work at it), the rest of it’s a piece of cake. Incidentally, I reject the notion that anyone doesn’t have musical ability. It’s true that some learn faster than others, but that’s true of everything, and why people should discourage themselves in the musical realm is pretty much beyond me. True musical inability is about as common as congenital blindness. Everyone else can improve with effort. Remember, the surest predictor of success in any endeavor is not talent but work. Thanks for asking. Peter Halsten [2008]
“[M]y goal was always to wend my way merrily through life, playing my little banjo and my little guitar and singing my songs.” - Peter Tork, When The Music Mattered (1984)

Man if I was more confident in my art skills I'd totally try my hand at drawing Roller Derby Final Girl vs. Gunne Sax Prom Queen Slasher.
Maybe I just need to do that anyway.

peter mandelson opines (apropos of nothing) that keir starmer ‘could do to lose a few pounds’ on podcast -> shadow health secretary says those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones -> jeremy hunt brings it up in an aside in the budget (actual important event of the day) -> adrian chiles writes an article saying that he’d almost objectify starmer, actually, he thinks he’s a good looking feller

i have not worn makeup since i got this cat, which was my first mistake. trying to remember the only look i know how to do, which is a brown smokey eye with perhaps just a touch too much gold in the inner corner highlight, gold liner to about the middle of the pupil, normal black liner from the middle of the pupil back and along the lower lash line. nothing fancy! nothing too dramatic! the gold and my eyelashes distract from the indifferently applied amokey eye bc i have never really learned how to adjust for a left eye with more of a hood than the right!
anyway this fuckin cat. hopped up on the bathroom counter, tail went bristle brush, thought about hissing, didn’t, but got spooked anyway and leapt off in such a way that all my makeup brushes somehow landed IN her litter box. under the sink. this is no huge loss bc they were elf from six years ago but like!!! bro!!! come on!!!!

I broke my dominant index finger a little while back, and though I was making good progress with it, I recently strained it again and set my healing back a fair amount. As such, I've decided to employ the traditional magical operation I know as 'Wresting the Thread'.
The process entails using a cord of undyed black wool to tie 9 enchanted knots, each of which captures the power of a particular healing prayer that is recited 9 times. That cord is then used to wrap and treat the injured extremity, and when the healing is done, the cord is burned.
Along with the basic traditional framework I learned, I also imbued the wool cord with the virtues of Medicus Oil (an empowered oil of sorcerous remediation,) and called upon the auspices of fixed star Rasalhague, which has shown itself, over the course of my work, to be a powerful ally in matters of health and mending.

"This is a testimonial about Lailoken’s services, because they helped me overcome something very difficult and dangerous that was making my life impossible. Without them, I would still be wading through this slump. I can't say very much about what happened, but I can assure you that it was quite serious and harming me on a daily basis - for years.
So! I just want to say this, in case some people are still reluctant to contact them:
Not only did Lailoken draw upon great wisdom and experience in order to help me— they did not hesitate for a second to put themselves in danger for me in the process.
And yet, despite their skills and all the experience they have acquired, they remain humble, benevolent, and they weigh each of their words carefully—not allowing the power to go to their head. They also ALWAYS ensures that the person they’re working with feels valued and appreciated.
In short, I have a lot of respect for them, and I really value all of their posts and magical interventions. I am very glad that I came to them for help, and I sincerely believe that you should ALL do the same."

i have watched and rewatched nothing else but clips of gone with the rain for the past weeks. could be coz of holiday/test stress but we're soaking it in while we can.
nothing like sweetly feeding your wife who hates your guts while ignoring your obnoxious, ambitious, scheming political guests.

after 'buin' (wife) from joongryeon, wenxi raises up 'fu ren' (madam, wife?) istg.
Tumblr media
however lacking this drama is, one thing i can say is... chen wende ruined me for any other male lead. look at him. he's horrendously, respectfully, a meal. a dream. the bees knees. nobody looks like that. nobody intentionally styles their male lead with moustache and beard like BARELY—
(i am in my masculinity appreciation era, fight me)
and let's ralk about the fact that these two just throw jabs and tease one another and being chaotically realistic in their bickering. the stolen pecks. all the scoldings. the age-gap dynamic definitely helps, oh yes. this drama is like nearly everything i want in a drama and i am just. so. glad. the algorhitim knew what would electrify my brain and showed me this thumbnail. my life was so bland before this - it's that revolutionary.

❛ don't do anything stupid until i get down there. ❜ (Kiba for Wendy's Naruto AU)
Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away Sentence Starters! ( ACCEPTING! )
( @thcsevoices )
"I promise I won't! Please hurry, Kiba!" Wendy shouted up to him from where she was at the bottom of the pitfall, her voice crackling slightly.
Someone had laid a trap and Wendy obliviously had fallen victim to it. She should have known better. Her godfather Kakashi had taught her better then this when they'd train during the past few years. All of this because she hadn't been paying attention. What was worse was that she was very low on chakra due to a mission the two of them had just finished. Her wrist hurt from breaking her fall and she felt dizzy.
Some day this was turning out to be...
She felt so useless....
Tumblr media
"I'd fly out of here if I could, but I can't!" She cried out, swallowing a lump in her throat, "I don't have any chakra left!"
