Decided to make a bloodmoon pokemon for my own region, and choose LYCANROC because it made sense, with the whole werewolf theme it has going on. Really proud of how it came out

The Moon Madness ability is basically a werewolf curse, if Bloodmoon LYCANROC bites you or scratches you, you turn into "werewolf", or at least you behave like one

How to play a real genuine werewolf in core 5e (so you don't have to resort to blood hunter).

Step 1) warlock. Undead patron.

Hear me out. Form of dread transforms you to reflect your patron. Your patron is a werewolf lord. RAW, werewolves are "humanoids", yes. However, mythologically, they tend to fall under undead as often as they don't. Or if you want a real comparison, Discworld werewolves are undead differently alive.

But the transformation grants you temp hp, a fear effect, and immunity to the frightened condition.

Step 2) invocations - beast speech and anything else you want, I suggest cloak of flies.

Beast speech is pretty obvious. You're being a beast cursed person, you can speak to beasts. Cloak of flies is because you will probably be melee. But also your second invocation will change later.

Step 3) pact of the blade

For this simple reason. Natural weapons available to the player are considered weapons. Therefore, you can summon them as a pact weapon. And you are going to be taking the claws from beast path barbarian form of the beast feature. These claws deal 1d6, but they double up. Every time you use one for an attack action, you can "take one additional claw attack as part of that same action." This will come back later.

And since you've leveled up to 3, you can swap invocations. You can pick up improved pact weapon. This makes your hands a +1 magic weapon.

Step 4) level 4, split paths

At 4th level, you take a feat (hopefully you didn't need the ASI) and it should probably be one of these:

+ slasher (TCE) Dex or Str up, reduce speed on claw attacks, and impose a round of disadvantage on a target you crit on.

+ fighting initiate (TCE) you get a fighter fighting style. I would select unarmed. And this would be a discussion with your GM, but it can potentially make your claws a d8 weapon instead of d6. It also lets you do automatic damage to creatures you grapple. Otherwise you can grab superior technique (but at that point you should be doing martial adept, not fighting initiate) or two weapon fighting which I would argue let's you off-hand with your claws.

+ Tough (PHB) this is self explanatory. You wanna be a brawling warlock? You need hit points.

+ eldritch adept (TCE) which is also self explanatory. You get an extra invocation. Always useful. Especially with pact of the blade.

+ fey touched (TCE) you get a cha +1 and misty step and then either hunter's mark or hex (and you get these spells as learned and as a freebie)

Step 5) level 5 new invocation

Not going to beat around the bush. Thirsting blade. If you were smart, you have fighting initiate and either deal 1d8s or get an extra 1d6 off-hand. With thirsting blade you get to do something cheeky. Remember how I said that additional attack with the claws would be coming back? You get extra attack. But the claws specify an "additional" attack as part of the attack action. That means 3 swipes at a d8 with unarmed style or 3 attacks and an off-hand swipe with two-weapon fighting.

If you picked up eldritch adept at level 4, you can also swap that extra invocation to eldritch smite.

Step 6+) it all works out pretty naturally from here. You can get some fun spells to augment your werewolfishness and damage output (spirit shroud is super good, so are mirror image and armor of agathys), some items like the insignia of claws from hoard of the dragon queen, and you can keep stacking feats as you get ASI (or if you picked variant human/custom lineage and start with a feat you have more options).

But also, at this point if you haven't asked "why not just play path of the beast barbarian?" I'm going to tell you now. You get more hit points, yes. But you don't get spells, you have less versatility and utility, and you scale slower. It's also just so much more fun to do it the weird way.

Sadly work has been AWFULLY BUSY as has personal life (but: due to SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE at home this summer AND possibly at work from next week TL;DR hurray more writing time soon!) so… very little writing happening in past few months.

If things improve, then what I’m hoping to work on is my one WIP and these ideas which could become WIPs if there is interest:

1. BLAME

A Marauders What If...?

What if James had been blamed for the Prank?What if he got expelled at the end of Fifth Year?What if there was never a Lily Evans and James Potter? If they parted enemies, if they never got together in their final year in Hogwarts? What if the marauders lost James? What then?

It’s currently been stuck at chapter 6 for months…

2. One Day Jily AU

Okay, the Netflix series was brilliant. And while I usually absolutely do NOT see James as similar to Dex in personality, I’m tempted….

3. Fairytale AU (Jily & Wolfstar)

Idk if you play DnD, but if you do, how would you build Finbarr and Olivier?

Finbarr is a kind of shrinking violet/heartless killing machine guy (in the least cool way possible- no, worse than that), I think he'd make an awful player character in dnd lmao but I think if his pact with esk can be used creatively it could be fun. so:

human, folk hero, ranger (fey wanderer) x warlock (archfey), sharpshooter feat. all skill points into dex and con, absolutely nothing in cha (multiclass was against his will), and equipped with 'silvered' arrows.

Olivier, who famously ate his own father's still beating heart as a way to take control of their sect & claim it imbued him with enough Male Energy that he was no longer considered a woman, would be an amazing character to play imo because he's so intense about everything. Physically beefy but his main talent is charisma and a magnetic personality

shifter/werewolf, gladiator, paladin (oath of conquest) x bard (college of eloquence), inspiring leader feat. he'd be a cha & str beast

I made those up on the spot but in case u were wondering about other characters, behold their actual character sheets I have made: (and played) in dnd. They were antagonist npcs so were allowed to be kind of broken lmao

He was a ranger (hunter conclave) x fighter (arcane archer) and because Bowman is technically a bow and a man, he gets two sets of saving throw proficiencies - esk got int and wis, bman got the other three, and nobody got cha because the version of him in dnd was set up to be kind of a loser (even moreso than usual!!). he got two extra attacks (one for being a ranger, one for being a fighter) and, if sufficiently buffed by his party, could make a stealth roll of 35 lmao

his two pals were more basic cleric & warlock/druid builds

Erica was a secondary player character for a while, originally I wanted him to have a more interesting class but to be perfectly honest, thief is so badly broken at high levels that anything else would be a downgrade and i wanted him to be good at what he does

A)ale! my PC and the loml. Massuraman Binder. They have a minimum of three souls in their body at one time and a maximum of five. they're doing so okay right now; don't worry about it

B) Devin, an eagle ale can summon him through their armor as an ally.

C)Cpt. James Hawkins. played by @theboombardbox, spellsword/barbarian. he's missing half of his soul <3, the Hat Man is following him, and he has worms.

D) Sash played by @halfandhalfling our wich/werewolf bestie. Apparently, she's a princess of the moon, but we don't have time to unpack all of that. Also, her (adoptive) mom fucked James.

E) Fig! Sash's familear

F) Orsa, Kiri's animal companion

G) Revazi, once played by @werepaladin. a barbarian whose "grandfather" Grandfather, a red greatwyrm, has been the patron of the party since like session five.

H) Chosen, in a human-only setting, she's an elf child! She's the reincarnation of ale's greatest enemy from both of their past lives, and they're apparently destined to end each other. But for right now they're buds, and she's the adoptive daughter of Kiri.

I) Kiri, @recoveringrevenant's PC, a Spirit Shaman. The newest Pc of the BFFs, our very chaotic party's grounding force, she can see a lot of stuff going on that no one else can see, both literally and figuratively.

J) Beren, a strange teenager our party was charged with keeping safe, then promptly lost (we're working on it). The person who charged us with keeping him safe may or may not be an abloeth, allied with the red dragon previously mentioned.

K) Cloves, the horse we bought in session two or three, that was then awakened by a random druid. He was one of the oldest members of the BFFs until... recently...

L) Erina, @recoveringrevenant 's retired PC, lets us crash at her place most nights, and she was a founding member of the BFFs, so even though she's not adventuring with us anymore, she's still one of us.

M) Agamemnon, our ship's AI, he's an orb that likes to dress up as a wizard :>

N) Ajatus, a guy we threatened to get to help us, but somehow became fully one of the crew. also, we need him to drive the boat, so, a BFF it is.

O) Father Lagi, a priest whose church collapsed into a skink hole after we visited it. We offered him a job in recompense, though by some of the conversations we've had, he's pitty chill in general. Also he embezzled like all of the church's coffers, so that's funny

P) Dahlver-Nar, one of the many souls that take up residence inside of ale's body. Though he's a bit more permanent. He helps out and gives advice alongside some skick-ass powers.

Q) Naz, this is the character I forgot in the first render of this piece. she's functionally dead atm (permanently trapped inside an amber tree), but you know how it is. a character once played by @recoveringrevenant as well

R) Cousin Chet! the half-dragon half ???? freak. we love him though

S) Bailey Wick, a once stow-away, now rogue-for-hire she has the sticky fingers and high dex our party lacks. So whenever we need to infiltrate a place, we send her on those missions. Though we've recently found out she's like 19, which is horrifying lmao. She also is one of the most competent members of the BFFs only because she's the only character that consistently rolls above a 10 (like genuinely)

T) Tansu, Revazi's twin sister. Our most recent true member of the BFFs, she's.... gone through it

(Although I didn't use it for art, this is another dragon inspired by Safari's line of dragons. The hook of a wolf dragon is very interesting, and I used it to create a rare social dragon, as well as to provide DMs with access to a culture like that of the Alpha-Beta-Omega hierarchy we once thought wolves had. Feel free to use other Alpha-Beta-Omega tropes, by the way. I also tied them with werewolves, because they are magic Wolves and I love monster ecology.)

CR8 LN Large Dragon (Earth)

Also known as lycanodrachs, or d’rrowg among themselves, wolf dragons are a rarity among dragonkind, as they live and hunt in social groups. These groups follow a strict hierarchy, one resembling that of wolves, but involving regular battles for dominance. These fights are typically ritualized, and it is considered taboo for one wolf dragon to kill another who has surrendered, but they are still loud, violent events. 

Wolf dragons are also highly territorial, and do not accept other large predators- or parties of humanoids- in their air space. Such intruders will, typically, be first approached by a flying wolf dragon who attempts to shout them down. Any who continue their flight afterwards will be attacked by the group with lethal intent. Despite this, those who obey the rules of a wolf dragon pack will find them courteous and wise hosts. Wolf dragon culture heavily values oral tradition, and they consider sharing their stories with guests to be an important aspect of hospitality. 

D’rrowg frequently cohabitate with stag dragons, although stag dragons typically choose not to integrate into wolf dragon packs, finding their violent power struggles and strict code of honor distasteful. Lycanthropes, most often werewolves, will sometimes enter a wolf dragon pack. Such beings are treated as a second class within the pack, but are still welcomed on the hunt and feasts. The real benefit, however, is maintaining their old personality when surrounded by wolf dragons. Wolf dragons hate green dragons, and will gladly sacrifice their life to take one down.

Wolf Empathy (Ex)- This ability functions as a druid’s wild empathy, using a wolf dragon's racial HD, but only for wolves.

So I've been hyperfixating on a Vocaloid Monster AU lately.

It started with me wanting to expand on the WOEFULLY underutilized concept of the PowerFX Vocaloids being "Classic Monsters" and just kind of... spiraled out of control from there. Now I have a LOT of ideas for Vocaloids, UTAUs and other vocal synthesizer characters as monsters for this AU.

So, specifically:

PowerFX:

Sweet Ann and Big Al = Frankenstein's Monsters (canon, more or less)

Oliver = Werewolf (I was inspired by this headcanon I found over at the old Vocaloid Headcanons blog and it hasn't left my brain since)

Yohioloid = Vampire (just LOOK at him!)

Ruby = Witch (I decided to round out the "classic" Halloween-style monsters with the only one that seems to be consistently female in these situations; after thinking about it though, it still fit, especially with the little star pattern in her jacket)

The ZOLA Project (based on their Carnelian designs)

Kyo = Vampire (Carnelian!Kyo has bat wings and bat = vampire)

Wil = Zombie (I actually don't know if Carnelian!Wil is specifically supposed to be a zombie, but someone said he looked like one so I went along with it)

Yuu = Werewolf (the furry, animal-eared hat and tatters/tears on his outfit scream "werewolf")

Other Vocaloids:

Aoki and Merli Lapis = Faeries (canon, obviously)

Aurum = Ghost (their aesthetic is supposed to be "a 1930s radio producer", so I thought why not make them an ACTUAL 1930s radio producer who died and now haunts the abandoned radio tower they used to work at? And yes, I know Aurum isn't technically a Vocaloid/won't be one when they're released, but let's ignore that for now)

Avanna = Witch (she gives off "magic user" vibes to me)

Daina = Kitsune (because foxes)

Dex = Werewolf (because wolves and also his voice provider made an entire song about him being a werewolf so canon)

Fukase = Demon (mostly just vibes in this case)

LUMi = Mermaid (because she's part jellyfish)

Luo Tianyi = Angel (canon)

Mayu = Vampire (it's in her aesthetic; I like to think she tries to bite people she's in love with so they'll never leave her)

Meika Hime and Mikoto = Forest Spirits (canon)

UTAUs:

Chikune Kenta = Vampire (canon, obviously)

KYE (Fuyuki Kaisei) = Dragon (he likes reptiles and also dragons are cool)

Kasane Teto = Human/Demon Hybrid (hence, "Chimera")

Kurobousuku = Werewolf (his name is literally "black wolf")

Namine Ritsu = Witch (another one based on vibes; also it would be funny for one of the few male witches in the story to also be a crossdresser)

Scott-129 = Alien (sort of canon)

Sekka Yufu = Yuki-onna (she's speculated already to be a "snow spirit" and a Yuki-onna seemed to be the most fitting choice for her)

Yuutsukoe Karasu (Kellyn Werner) = Tengu (sort of canon)

I want to do something with this idea, and I have some plot bunnies floating around in my head, but I'm not certain if I'll get around to it.
