mmmmm brain cogs are movinggg
Raz being invited (more like begged mmhm) to stay at this secret facility that investigates the supernatural. he fully distrusts these guys but Eva ends up convincing him to give them a chance, after all, scientists are just trying to understand them monsters better! it's for the greater good! he was being offered the chance of being the catalyst to humanity's open acceptance for supernatural beings, after all. and also they offer him shelter, a warm bed, three daily meals, hot showers and all the snacks he wants, basically a frickin 4* hotel for as long as the tests take place
he ends up agreeing albeing certaingly grumpy about it. the first days go smooth af, he even starts liking it there, the people are nice and the tests are not too invasive. they do medical exams: they test his physical strenght, his transformation control... but also they ask him about his background, the places he grew in, who took care of him, his life experience... the scientists are happy because Raz is the first werewolf that has agreed to aid them in their studies. but Raz wonders... how did they get their previous data on werewolves... if he's the first "willing subject" they have had? hm... he has a bad feeling about this.
he overhears a conversation. a certain careless scientist runs their tongue. turns out yes, they've studied previous subjects, it just wasn't... exactly consensual. their methods were less humane, capturing people as if they were animals and running tests on them with zero work ethic. they were especially unlucky with their last subject, a big old lone dog who travelled with a pup... but the pup escaped their grasp while they were abducting the adult individual. this subject was unusually strong and wise, never trusted any of the scientist and was extremely uncooperative, causing many injuries to the science team that was in charge of him. eventually he had to be put down for the safety of the crew.
all these years, Raz had thought that back then, his dad had been killed by hunters in those mountains. he never knew what really happened... until now.
they were the reason he was dead.
he completely wrecked the place. left many wounded and many more dead. he escaped and ran away. he was lucky they hadn't microchipped him yet. but he was so fucked now. the facility notified the government of his escape and had crossed him as a dangerous individual, giving the search units permission to shoot him on sight.
aside from their personal vendetta against him, this incident was the final straw that broke the humans' hopes of any peaceful coexistence with monsterkind as they decided to take arms against them. during the following months, special units were trained and deployed all around the country, tasked with the mission of eliminating any monster they could find.
Raz had to return to his half-wild nomad lifestyle, moving between small settlements while trying to not bring too much attention to himself, knowing that he had to be careful because now he was the prey. he moves around, searching for other monsters with the purpose of warning them about his experience and the humans' violent intentions, helping them hide and protect themselves against future human attacks. he spends years doing this, meeting and helping many kinds of monsters, never staying in one place, always on the go. he finds many werewolf packs in his travels, but he never stays for long in any of them despite how inviting the warmth and protection of a family might sound... he needs to keep moving onto the next person he can help. he could never settle down, after all. roaming is all he's ever known.
one day he has an encounter with a painfully familiar face. in a pub, he's recognised by one of the scientists that had taken care of him during his stay at the lab. she panicks badly, signaling her partner to leave the building as fast as they can. while her partner is still busy inside, she gets out and quickly tries to walk away to their car, but she has already been spotted.
Raz stands behind her. says her name out loud, and she freezes in her tracks. she feels his predator eyes locked in her neck as she slowly turns around to face him. he starts walking towards her. "i thought i'd never see the likes of you again...". suddenly, the pub's door bursts open and her partner runs towards them, pulls out a gun at Raz's back and loudly orders him to stop moving. Raz turns at him with an untrusty look. of course, they have bodyguards now. he states out loud he just wants to talk to her, nothing else. the guy doesn't flinch, reiterating his very eager intention to shoot him if he doesn't leave them alone that instant. the scientist, who had been paralized in the background during their exchange, shakily asks her partner to lower the weapon. he scoffs at her, are you crazy? he's dangerous, he could kill us both! Raz loses his patience at this statement. "if i wanted you dead, you'd BE dead by now." he growls at him. bah, humans: always the first to jump to violence. seeing how the tension between them was rising by the second, she insists more firmly to his partner to drop the gun. she fully believes the situation can be resolved without any of the parties getting hurt. after a few seconds of hesitation, the gun stops being aimed at Raz's chest, which makes his posture just a tiny bit more relaxed. he truly just wants to talk to her, after all, and so he turns back at her with a judgemental expression on his face.
he inquires if they had been following him. she dismisses his statement with a nervous laugh, no they absolutely hadn't! they're just doing a bit of field work that's all! they didn't even know he was around, she promises! Raz's eyes scan her face, and she adverts her sight while fidgeting with her hands. what she said was true (if they had known he was there, they would've sent a different team for sure), but she didn't have it in her to tell him the complete nature of their mission. after all, they two had been tasked with studying the werewolf pack that was located in the area, gathering info on them to prepare the special units tasked with their capture/neutralization. she smiled at Raz, trying to reassure her statement, waiting for his response. he stood silent, weighting the worth of her words in his mind. he finally decided that he would believe them... for now. to her partner's alarm, Raz stepped closer to the scientist and locked eyes with her. he very seriously said that if he saw they had any kind of hostile intentions towards any monster in that area, he would not hesitate to step in. she swallows, and quietly nods. Raz turns his head towards the other guy and says out loud that they will be watched, so they better choose their actions wisely while they're around. the man grits his teeth, but begrudgingly nods towards him. after giving them a last warning glare, Raz turns around and walks past the scientist, disappearing from their sight.
#about OCs#Raz#now for a round of tag trivia:#her name is Samantha#since the lab incident Raz hesitates to contact Eva in any way fearing that the government may be watching her to find out his location#he deeply misses her company. her wise words. her voice. but mostly her emotional support.#she was a key element in his life during his early adulthood. often staying at her house during full moons#she was with him during his most difficult days. she's the second closest thing he's ever had to true family as he considers her his sister#and he misses her. so badly.#Raz has met several kinds of monsters. vampires of all ages. dopplegangers. lamias. several species of werebeasts#he does his best to explain the situation to them and helps them find others like them so they can stay together and be more safe#he can't convince them all but he doesn't give up. he needs to spread the message as far as he can go#at this point of his life he is able to maintain control during his full transformations. it drastically improves his survival skills#he balances between human and beast form equally and expertly. only needing to hide away from everyone during full moons#werewolfs commonly refer to themselves as dogs#there is a special kind of werewolf that can perfectly transform into actual wolves instead of a beast form#they're kind of like the elitist snobs or werewolfkind. very proud of their pure connection to nature#most werebeasts are human × mammal but it is possible to find the rare werelizard or werefish around. werebird species usually can't fly#i am making these facts up as i go. gotta say it's a great worldbuilding exercise#just a bit inconvenient that it is almost 6am#fine. i guess i'll at least *try* to sleep a bit. jeez.#i'm queuing this post for the late morning#nexverse

Alterhuman Terminology
Here’s a huuuuuuuge post of Otherkin, System, Vampiric and other nonhuman terms!

Nonhuman: Nonhumanity. Having an identity that is nonhuman in some way or a person that identifies as such.
Awakening: Awakened. The time in which an Alterhuman person discovers their identity. You may have multiple awakenings, though some prefer to only use this term to refer to their initial discovery.
Dysphoria: Species Dysphoria. A state of great unease or dissatisfaction. In context, being distressed or uncomfortable by one’s physical species (aka human).
Shift: A phenomenon in which an Alterhumans perception shifts to be more like that of their identity. This is mainly used as an umbrella term for the below shift-types.

Supernumerary Phantom Limbs: Phantom Limbs, sometimes Astral limbs. Body parts that are perceived by the brain but do not physically exist. Isa’s TRUE Personality: The Beautiful, Tortured, Selfless Moon Goddess of Love (Part 1)
Saix’s weapons are an absolute goldmine of esoteric symbolism. There’s no way I can cover it all in one post; there’s just too much. But I want to do a series analyzing everything, to show just how differently his character ended up in canon, compared to how it was originally conceived. I think the original idea for Isa’s character and his relationship with Lea is extremely unique and utterly fascinating. According to the symbolism, Isa’s TRUE personality is exactly as the title describes. A tortured, beautiful, selfless Moon Goddess of Love who was clearly intended as a love interest for Lea.
Part 1: The Tortured Moon Goddess
Tumblr media
Cool, collected, and mature beyond his age. He’s good friends with Lea.
— Jiminy’s Journal (Kingdom Hearts Union χ)
Saix’s title, Luna Diviner, is a reference to Selenomancy, named after the Goddess Selene. It is a specialized form of divination that examines the various aspects, phases, and appearances of the moon. According to diviners, moon phases are associated with certain personality types at the time of birth. There are several specific moon phases used as names for Saix’s weapons. Gibbous represents someone who is a healer and humanitarian. They care about other people; sometimes more than themselves. The pain and suffering of others is something that they are not only highly sensitive to, but also want to help transform.
Balsamic Moon, is the waning crescent that is the trademark symbol on Isa’s jacket. It’s the final phase of the moon. This is a phase of decline and darkness—a rich opportunity for your soul to experience. It is considered the most Yin or Feminine phase. Balsamic means soothing or restorative. If you are born under this Moon, you will be aged and mature in some way. Balsamics are quiet, retiring and resilient; they are often seen as “old souls”. They are complex and wise beyond their years, as well as loners who usually only enjoy the company of a select group of people.
Tumblr media
New Moon is also known as the Dark Moon. It is the phase where the Moon’s energy is weakest. Even though the New Moon is invisible in the sky, those born under it are cloaked in darkness. They tend to lack self-awareness. They may be known for being selfish, callous, or unable to see things from other people’s perspectives. This weapon has the same shape as Berserker and Werewolf.
Saix’s Pandora Gear is Dichotomy. This word has several definitions. It means “a division or contrast between two things that are entirely different.” Or, “the phase of the moon in which half its disk appears illuminated.” It represents the clear division between the past and the present, Isa and Saix.
Tumblr media
Many of Saix’s weapons incorporate ♐︎ the astrological symbol of Sagittarius into them. I believe ♐︎ is meant to represent Lea. Sagittarius is a part of the Fire Trigon of the Zodiac. As an archer, he is said to never fail in hitting the mark. Sagittarius represents the centaur Chiron, an immortal centaur, who was renowned for his gentleness. After being accidentally shot by a poison arrow, he was in agony, but unable to find release in death. So he decided to offer himself as a substitute for Prometheus, who was punished by the gods for giving fire to man. Zeus saw the kindness of Chiron and immortalized him in the stars.
Axel’s weapon Prometheus is a combination of ♐︎ and the symbol of Mars ♂, and ALSO ♋ the Cancer symbol. Mars was known as the Roman god of war. He was said to love the violence and conflict. He carried a spear that was often depicted as covered in blood. He was the patron God of soldiers and was worshiped prior to battle. Soldiers in the Roman Army prayed to Mars before battle, hoping that he would protect them and lead them to victory.
Tumblr media
Selene is shaped like a torch combined with ♐︎ the symbol of Sagittarius. In ancient Greek mythology, Selene is the Titan goddess of the Moon and is said to drive her glowing chariot powered by beautiful white horses across the sky each night. Her symbols were the crescent moon, a chariot, and a torch. Selene was very well known mostly because of her beauty. She was a very peaceful goddess and did not approve of war. Her personality was said to be secluded and timid.
Most Ancient Greeks looked to her for healing. Selene also had many powers that you would not think a moon goddess would have. Mythology states that she had powers surrounding dreams, she could harness the ability to awaken intuition and she could also catalyze psychic visions. As the patron of femininity, she was known to have the power to ease childbirth, to inspire love, to mask reality, and to pierce illusion.
Tumblr media
Artemis has been commonly associated with Selene. She was the goddess of the Moon, the ruling planet of Cancer, and the daughter of Zeus. Her personality was individualistic and free-spirited, yet kind. She was a patron goddess of hunting and childbirth, and she was also the protectress of little children and baby animals. In Greek mythology, Artemis was usually portrayed as a very tall, beautiful young maiden with a hunting bow the shape of a crescent moon and golden arrows. She is often accompanied by either a stag or a dog. One of her special talents is calming animals, meaning that when she walks near them they come towards her and become calm.
Artemis is one of the ‘virgin’ androgynous goddesses, along with Athena and Vesta. Due to her well-integrated masculine energy and independence, she possesses an introverted temperament, preferring solitude. She was also known to be friends with mortals. Her assets were courage, confidence, and strength (both mental and physical). Her weaknesses were vengeance, impulsiveness, and being quite aloof. She was afraid of men, which is why she used to live in the woods and only went for walks at night. She rarely had any male companions; she only loved one person, Orion, but she ended up unintentionally killing him due to trickery. In her pain she appealed to Zeus to immortalize Orion in the stars so she could be with him.
Tumblr media
A quiet and cool-headed youth. Though he does come out of his shell when talking to his best friend Lea, toward others he is distant and untalkative. Often scolds Lea and his contrasting personality.
— description from KHBBS Light Novel 2 (Best Friends)
The design for the weapon Astrologia incorporates ♋, the sigil of Cancer into its design. Cancer is associated with Artemis, who is similar to people born under the sign of Cancer. They are very modest, shy, and extremely emotional individuals who love children and pets. Artemis exemplifies the caring, nurturing and protective qualities of the mother. Deeply intuitive and sentimental, Cancer can be one of the most challenging Zodiac signs to get to know, but they are sympathetic and very attached to the people they keep close.
Being ruled by the Moon, they are mysterious— they can struggle with sharing their innermost feelings. Cancer was known as the “dark sign” because of the obscured visibility of its constellation in the night sky. They have a tendency to brood and can be very moody and pessimistic. They often don’t have enough coping and defensive mechanisms for the outer world, so they can be prone to introversion and slow to warm to strangers. Cancers are quick to retreat into their shells if it suits their mood. The crab is a perfect symbol for the Cancer sign, symbolizing how a sensitive soul hides beneath a tough exterior.
A Cancer is caring and vulnerable, however callous they may appear on the outside. They are introspective and serene folk, who love solitude yet care gently for the people surrounding them. This receptive nature, however, makes them easily hurt. Cancer is the most emotional sign of the zodiac but at times they might appear icy and separated. Empathy for others is likely to be strong, and they will have an intuitive ability to sense what others need. They have a tendency to be quite clingy. Cancer’s shyness comes from their insecurity and deep fear of rejection. They are a cautious and shrewd people.

Moon Rabbit is known as the Jade Rabbit in China. The Jade Emperor disguised himself into a poor, starving old man and begged for food from monkey, otter, jackal, and rabbit. Rabbit could only gather grass. Knowing well enough that grass can’t be offered as food to humans, rabbit decided to offer its own body, sacrificing itself in the fire the man had started. Somehow, though, rabbit wasn’t burned. The old man suddenly revealed himself to be the great Jade Emperor. Touched deeply by rabbit’s selfless sacrifice, he sent it to the moon to become the immortal Jade Rabbit.
More than just cute, fluffy, and white, the Jade Rabbit is a sign of selflessness, piety, and sacrifice. The Jade Rabbit is on the moon so that no matter where we are on Earth, we always have the ethics of righteousness and self-sacrifice to look up to. In East Asia, the Jade Rabbit is a widespread cultural symbol. When the bunny isn’t busy making immortality elixirs, it keeps the beautiful goddess Chang’e company in the Moon Palace.

Saix’s weapon Crescent is based on the Phoenix’s wings. This weapon represents the albedo stage of magnum opus. Following the chaos of the nigredo stage, albedo involves the washing away of impurities. In this process, the subject is divided into two opposing principles to be later coagulated to form a unity of opposites during rubedo. The aura is light blue, meaning truthfulness and serenity.
Psychologist Carl Jung equated the albedo stage with “unconscious contrasexual soul images; the anima in men and animus in women”. Jung described the animus as the unconscious masculine side of a woman, and the anima as the unconscious feminine side of a man, with each transcending the personal psyche. This makes albedo a phase where insight into the shadow side of the self is gained, while inflated ego is removed from the psyche.
So, that makes it VERY interesting that the weapon has a similar shape to ⚸. Even if they never planned to actually show it explicitly, the writers seemed to be inspired by Black Moon Lilith. Which raises very disturbing (though very interesting) implications about what happened during the experiments on the “darkness of the heart”. It would certainly explain how Axel’s personality became so warped. It would also explain why he didn’t find Saix’s personality change that unexpected, either, and why Axel seemed to always give him the benefit of the doubt no matter how cold he was.
Tumblr media
Astronomically, Lilith is considered an asteroid. Yet, some astrologers identify Lilith with the “Black Moon”. It’s the mathematical point that’s exactly in between the earth and the moon–essentially, empty space. Astrologically, it represents the cosmic void; the very energy Black Moon Lilith embodies. Psychologically, it is a point that represents how we react to emptiness and isolation. It brings up deep and primal issues like repressed feelings of rejection, rage, and the refusal to give in. This particular archetype is associated with sex, death, obsession, addiction, transformation, resurrection, magic, the occult and the taboo. These things are seen as the entry way between the spiritual dimension (or the underworld), and life on the physical plane.
Put simply, Lilith is the dark side of the moon. She represents animus, the feminine shadow side—What society rejects as appropriate for the feminine, Lilith takes up. The vilest manifestations of sexuality like pedophilia, rape, and satanic ritual abuse are all the domain of Lilith. She was actually said to be a hermaphrodite, so she could act as both a succubus and an incubus. Trauma based mind-control, through the use of sexual torture is another area connected with Black Moon Lilith. She symbolizes the transformation that occurs after going through a dark night of the soul. Usually, the trigger is great suffering, mourning, pain or torture. I can only imagine what poor Lea and Isa must have gone through.
Astrologically, Chiron (Sagittarius) stands in total opposition to Black Moon Lilith and all she represents. He is a symbol to remind us to look at the vulnerabilities we face in light of our connection to Divinity. Through the exploration of our wounds, we are called to heal all that creates a rift or disconnection with our Spirit.

LYCANTHROPY
“I'll ask of the berserks, you tasters of blood,
Those intrepid heroes, how are they treated,
Those who wade out into battle?
Wolf-skinned they are called.”
- Haraldskvæði, by Thórbiörn Hornklofi
“He was straight transfourmed into the likenes of a greedy devouring wolf, strong and mighty, with eyes great and large, which in the night sparkeled like unto brandes of fire, a mouth great and wide, with most sharpe and cruell teeth, a huge body, and mightye pawes."
- The Trial of Peter Stumpp, The Werewolf of Bedburg
The origins of the werewolf, one of the most maligned magical creatures of this or any time, remain a mystery. It has been proposed that, rather than merely a Dark Curse inflicted by some hateful warlock, lycanthropy is a relic of the Viking berserkergang - meaning that this frightful condition once had brutal purpose on the field of battle. These possibilities, while discussed over brandy at very particular clubs as a subject of historical curiosity, are wholly irrelevant. The popular perception of werewolves as mindless man-eaters has become so entrenched that there seems little likelihood of change. Between passed down prejudices, horrific depictions across magical and muggle media, and stacks of mis-informed, fantastical, and simply hateful so-called “academic” treatments of the subject, lycanthropy remains a thoroughly demonized affliction.
The most insidious of the myths surrounding lycanthropy is that this curse progressively destroys the victim’s capacity for moral sense, leaving a werewolf thoroughly vicious, animalistic, and evil. Another is that they do, in fact, maintain their human minds while transformed - that their murderous behaviours under the full moon are genuinely their doing, the acting-out of grudges and sadistic urges. The “infectious” nature of the condition is also grossly exaggerated, confusing when and how the curse can be passed on. So is the power of werewolves - while they are certainly formidable creatures, they are not invincible, insensitive to pain, or unable to feel fear, as the legends often suggest.
Tragically, some of the very worst of the stories are true.
During the full moon, werewolves will preferentially hunt, kill, and even eat human beings, magical and muggle alike. They appear to be driven to attack any person they encounter, and are as likely to leave the corpse strewn meaninglessly across the countryside as to consume it. Their human understanding vanishes completely, from moonrise to moonset. There is no reason to appeal to. They do not recognize or respond to anyone they know or love, while human. Werewolves are unable to fully recall the events of the full moon, though many “authorities” insist that this is simply a ruse - you know werewolves. Those creatures surely aren’t above lying to escape proper judgment for their hideous crimes. Are they?
It is extremely difficult to dissuade an attacking werewolf, barring substantial muggle firepower or excellent spell-casting. When transformed, werewolves are frighteningly resistant to many lower level spells, such as the Full Body-Bind Curse or Stinging Jinx. This is due, presumably, to the sinister magic of their being. They are also physically resilient, able to withstand a great deal of pain and injury in their frenzied attempts to slaughter anyone they come across.
When contained, with no human prey, werewolves become incredibly agitated. Their tendency to bite and scratch themselves is often pointed to as evidence of their rabid nature - clearly, they are so senselessly devoted to destroying human beings that they can’t stand the fact that there remains even a shred of humanity inside them. More sympathetic views, largely belonging to wix who keep dogs, suggest that this is merely an expression of deep distress. This interpretation is largely ignored.
THE BITE
While rumours persist that lycanthropy can be spread through scratches, or even through scratches and bites delivered while a werewolf is in human form, most magi-medical professionals know that only the bite of a transformed werewolf can transfer the affliction, although a milder “infection” from non-transformed bites does sometimes occur if the wounds are deep enough.
One of the more unusual aspects of this curse is that a scratch or bite from a werewolf will not clot and stop bleeding unless properly cared for - meaning the victim will invariably bleed to death without magi-medical attention. A solution of ground silver and oil of dittany is the only potion known to seal wounds inflicted by a werewolf. Werewolves themselves are, of course, immune to this particular effect, and their wounds - inflicted by their own claws and fangs, or those of other werewolves - will clot and heal normally. With the benefit of time and magical treatment, these scars can disappear completely.
However, the scars left by the bite which inflicts the curse will scar permanently; no magical means are known to be able to remove this curse-mark. Likewise, if an “uninfected” human is scratched by a transformed werewolf, these injuries will also leave irremediable curse-scars.
While muggles have certainly been bitten by werewolves, no survivors are recorded. This is believed to be a reflection of the magical nature of lycanthropy; while the language of disease is commonly used to discuss the affliction, this vocabulary is inaccurate, absorbed from the muggle world. Werewolfry is a curse, and, apparently, an amount of innate magic is needed in order to survive it at all.
There are no known cases of a wix surviving a werewolf’s bite without suffering the curse. There are tales of these unfortunate victims begging to be left to die, and many stories of mediwix simply refusing to treat them at all. In light of an unusual - but still small - uptick in werewolf bites in recent years, St. Mungo’s has had to establish and enforce a policy which requires their staff to provide treatment to these patients. This has sparked some controversy, but the hospital’s administration has quieted critics by clarifying that this is a matter of containing risk - and ensuring proper registration.
APPEARANCE
There’s no easy, sure way to tell an untransformed werewolf from anyone else, despite what the stories might say. At most, the only common feature is a tendency to age or grey prematurely; but “regular people” do that too, don’t they? While the scars left by a werewolf bite are quite striking, given their size and severity, there’s nothing so specifically unusual about them that would give away their origin. However - werewolves will carry scars and injuries across their shapes, meaning that these are, potentially, a means of identifying the local lycanthrope.
Once transformed, you could mistake a werewolf for a wolf - if, at least, you were looking at one that was very still, from quite far away, in the dark, through some foliage, and had never in fact seen an actual wolf, ever. Werewolves are generally described as unsettling at an instinctive level, inspiring a particular and intense kind of fear due to their uncanny appearance.
A changed werewolf is as unidentifiable to others as they are to it. They are gangling, unnatural looking creatures, and generally move about on all fours. Their heavily clawed forepaws remain eerily hand-like, but not so much as to be capable of grasping objects. The canine-like head is unusually proportioned, with a slightly shorter snout than a wolf might possess. The eyes of a werewolf feature largely in witness accounts, in which they tend to be described as profoundly disturbing, possessed of human-like murderous fury. From muzzle to tail, they are covered in thick fur, generally similar in colour to their human hair.
When exposed to light, a werewolf demonstrates the eye-shine associated with a well-developed tapetum lucidum; their night vision is, unfortunately, excellent. While some experts state that werewolves are entirely red-green colour blind, much like dogs, even when in human shape, this is false. There is, however, reason to believe that a transformed werewolf experiences this effect to some extent.
As one might expect, werewolves heal somewhat quicker than non-werewolves - from both magical and mundane injuries. This is simply a matter of survival, given the violence of their monthly transformations. Silver, despite the muggle myths, has no particular effect on werewolves in any shape.
MAGICAL USE
The fur, saliva, blood, organs, claws, and fangs of werewolves are known to have considerable magical value. However, given the difficulty in collecting such material, and the limited time frame for useful harvest, these ingredients are very rare; their usefulness to potion-makers and wand-crafters is not thoroughly tested, and mostly hypothetical, due to the infrequency of experiments and the questionable nature of historical records.
Trade in werewolf parts, while inherently predatory, is very, very lucrative - and has never been regulated by the Ministry.
NOTES
Lycanthropy is sometimes referred to as werewolfry, to avoid confusion with the psychological condition; that’s more an academic distinction than a common one, though.

Spanish/Iberian mythological creatures: What Even edition
Tumblr media
Oricuerno: The “main” Spanish take on the unicorn (the other being the Escornau). White-furred with a purple head, blue or red eyes, deer hooves topped by small wings, and a twisted black, red and white horn. Usually living in the highest mountain peaks, has the power to turn women into men, and also cure poisonings and purify waters. Its entire body is considered a powerful amulet
Caltrí Snake: Massive and thick-bodied, with red scales. Devours any human it encounters, but weeps for them after the deed is done. Also known as the Calcatrix, which apparently was used to refer to crocodiles.
Cassandre: A beast of multiple colours whose pleasant smell attracts most animals but kills snakes. Between these traits and that it’s commonly assumed to be a lynx, it serves as the local version of the medieval “panthers”
Jancana: Extremely similar to the cantabrian Ojancano and sometimes treated as its female counterpart, while also a separate being. A hideous, deformed, wrinkled ogress with a single eye (plus two small ones in the nape) and either long, messy hair or snakes in place of hair. Can transform into beautiful women or giant snakes; in the latter case they can only return to their true selves after coiling six times around a man then tongue-kissing them. Also just generally rape men and cut off their tongues afterwards.
Blue-Legs Garrules: Female child-eater that enters houses through the chimney. Sometimes shown as the partner-in-crime of fellow bogeyman Camunyes
Velludo: “Hairy One” A headless horse that runs across mountains and empty streets at night, perpetually chased by six furious dogs. Said to be the spirit of a muslim king that murdered his sons (which would be the dogs)
Lobizon: A werewolf present both in Argentina and parts of Portugal, born from a curse that supposedly befalls the seventh son in any family. A pig-like hairy dog, with blazing red eyes and floppy ears. Devours children and carrion but especially craves animal excrement, a diet that renders its human form yellow-skinned and sickly
Vera Dwarf: Said to live close to a natural fountain, following close whoever approaches to collect water. Those with a good heart are allowed to pass and protected from all harm, but those with bad intentions are mercilessly beaten. Mentioned sometimes to grow in size as they watch over travellers
Silbán. A long, haired, long-legged giant whose lair was a cave high in a mountain only he could reach. Raided a nearby village to kidnap and devour women with impunity until he fell in love with his latest would-be-victim. She then escaped his clutches and conspired with the villagers to make him drink poisoned milk.
Cabrichocho: A blue lamb that subsists entirely on sap and butterflies. Hopelessly smitten with human women, to the point it mimics human speech in an attempt to win them over. Its hide is sought after by wizards, for it grants flight to the wearer.
Docejo: Bird-like being with a single wing, a single eye, and human lips instead of a beak. Drinks only from a specific river (the Jucar) and will in fact die if it ingests water from anywhere else. Loves music, and entertains itself by loudly burping at night.
Rosemunho: Evil spirit that appears in the form of whirlwind or a dust devil. Pulls travellers within itself only to toss them to their deaths somewhere else. Can be driven off by just throwing a stone or stick in its direction, because it will go hurl that instead.
Mairu: Giants said to be responsible for the construction of dolmens and other megalithic constructs across the Basque Country. Usually presented as an all-male race, with lamias as their counterpart, but some myths bring up female Mairu (Mairi) noted for their immense strength. Their arm bones – sometimes the entire preserved arm- possess magical properties
Hodei: Deity embodying storms, hail and thunder, appearing as clouds. Malevolent, brings down lightning to ruin the crops of farmers. Sometimes considered another of the earth goddess Mari and the dragon Sugaar’s many children
Darro Goblin: A cryptid whose sole witness described it as something between a monkey and a dog that walked on two legs, with an enormous head and exceedingly hairy ears. Gave terrifying screams
Mialta: Female bogeyman that force-feeds naughty children with pancakes she cooks herself, and which taste absolutely horrid.
El Pecado: Literally “The Sin”, a massive lizard so named because of its hideousness. Terrorized the village of Ovijuela until Saint Peter arrived and tamed it.
Cabanyas Lizard: Another huge, man-eating reptile, so strong it tore apart a mountain with a single strike of its tail.
Trucafort: A giant bogeyman with a beard so dense and long he keeps stepping on it, thus his tremendous howling. Always seen carrying two enormous boulders; one balanced atop his head, another at hand to smash children with.
Ome Marin: A humanoid covered in scales, with green teeth and sometimes a “mane” of algae. Prowls the coast devouring anything it can catch, including humans, and especially loves messing with and/or destroying fishing boats, ensuring sailors get stranded. Known sometimes to swim upstream and assault women near rivers.
Frailecillo: “Little Friar” Ugly, hunchbacked goblins with bony arms and massive feet, dressed in long black robes and emitting a greenish or purplish glow. Sleeping during the day, they are sometimes said to be clever and helpful but often they are extremely violent, entering houses to pinch the eyes of children as they sleep, chop off their limbs or sew their buttholes shut.
Marés: Child-eating octopuses whose embrace is impossible to break free from.
Xas: Goblin that takes refuge in abandoned windmills. While they won’t enter inhabited houses they delight in throwing rocks at them, as well as harassing livestock and stealing fruit from orchards
Gizotso: The basque werewolf. Rather than a curse, it is born from forbidden relations between man and animal. Usually wrapped in chains, and very bloodthirsty; the most common tale about them involves one randomly attacking a woman and ripping off her breasts. Always depicted with one of its legs ending in a round stump instead of a paw.
Guaraguara: Bogeyman of undefined appearance, but sometimes referred to as a “bug”
Pauet: The ghost of a child that died at the bottom of a well, crying for help that never arrived, and who now pulls others inside in an attempt to cure its loneliness. Other areas have a feminine counterpart in Maria Gancha (something like “Grabby Mary”) who simply snatches children down her well with hooked claws
Beast of the Clamor: A water monster whose terrible roaring could be heard all across the Ebro river. Legend goes a maiden was sacrificed to the beast to appease its wrath, and even though it worked and it was never heard from again, the unlucky maiden’s ghost is said to still haunt the river to this day.
Joan The Bear: Heroic giant born from a woman raped by an evil bear. Possessing enormous strength and armed with a just-as-massive iron bar, went on to have many adventures alongside a group of similarly-gifted friends – Arrencapins (who could tear the biggest trees off the ground), Escoltin-Escoltaina (who could hear even the smallest noise) Regiramuntaynes (pushes mountains around) and Bufim-Bufaina (could split the clouds by blowing)
Pardal Verd: A green, sometimes golden bird whose eggs have healing properties. Usually guarded by a giant serpent, and even then you can only ever take one egg.
Mother Of Fish: Bigger than man and brightly-coloured, like a sea snake with three heads, two tails and big expressive eyes. Intelligent, can speak and appear in the dreams of others in the form of a fairy. Eating her heads makes even the most barren woman bear children, and her tails can be made into swords.
Papasopas: A bogeyman that shows up to eat the food that naughty children refuse, but for every bite it takes, it will also bite on the children themselves. Also loves eating flies
Garos: An evil giant that was eventually bested by an entire village and killed by having a nail driven through his nape. His preserved skull was said to heal and invigorate children
Jan del Gel: A massive, literal snow man. The third of a series of snow children made by an old couple, unable to bear their own. While the first two were exemplary children up until they melted come spring, Jan ate the couple’s entire food storage then left to the mountains. Comes out during blizzards and freezes any children it spots with a glance, to drag them to his frigid cave and devour.
Orcavella: A fiendish mountain hag that terrorized an entire village, dabbling in the dark arts and eating children for centuries until finally she got tired of living and buried herself alongside a hapless shepherd she had under her control. None could approach despite his screams due to the swarms of snakes protecting the tomb, and they are said to protect it even now.
White Fox: Self-explanatory, but also has green ears/spots above the eyes and its tail, legs and teeth are entirely black. Feeds on flowers and occasionally stealing lunches from people. Its blood is highly sought after for its magical properties, but whoever meets its gaze feels immense panic.
Bird of Joy: Crimson-coloured, with green-and-white spots and black wings/beak. Start life as maggots on the White Fox’s body once it dies, eating one another until only one remains and matures. Eagles and other birds of prey give it wide berth. Loses its wings shortly before death, and if anyone pulls out the eyes once its dead, they will see them become magic diamonds.
Gollut: Hideous, narrow-eyed goblins that supposedly employed dark magic brought bad luck. Actually has a real life basis: Up until the beginning of the 20th century Catalunya housed a small, possibly inbred community plagued by deformities and dwarfism, living in squalor
Enemiguillo: “Little enemy” Microscopic, invisible goblins under the control of witches and usually held within a bottle. Their attacks express as countless burning bites on the legs and groin
Sopeira Serpent: A princess transformed into a massive snake by a curse. A knight failed to break it and ultimately killed the princess-serpent, after which her castle sank into the ground, taking with it everyone inside
Since these compilations seem to have gotten kinda popular here’s a bunch more i’ve done before , which started as me trying to help @tyrantisterror pad out his fantasy setting

| This information belongs to me for it’s part of the world that I have created for these creatures in my story |
The 4 types of mystical beasts in my world.
I am going to shed some light on the main creatures in my canon. They come in three categories: Lycans. Werewolves. Shifters.
Direwolf ‘Lycans’ *
Lycans are basically wolf people who have the ability to morph into either a human, feral, or humanoid wolf. They are known to possess the perfect balance of human and wolf properties that make up their entire being - with that said, they are able to communicate in both wolf forms while possessing the intelligence and sense of reasoning of a human. If a human happens to befriend such a beast, they should avoid using the phrase, “good boy/girl’, in jest or taunt, for Lycans views such words as downplaying their intelligence as if they’re dogs. They have much pride in who they are as a people, and will not tolerate humans who belittle their culture, intellect, or presence. However, their wolf half is based on their instinctual urges and impulses like that of an ordinary wolf, a wild beast molded within the hands of mother nature.
Their wolf essence enables them to be connected to the earth, moon, wolf, & raven. These four connections flowing within their blood are part of their spirit and way of life, for it acts like an ID that reveals their inheritance as clean and pure, undefiled from anything mixed in the gene pool. They have the ability to communicate with wolves and other animals, which is a blessing bestowed upon them from mother earth as long as they give something to her in return - take care of the environment and the creatures whom live in it. This is witnessed in my Dire Wolf species because they are known for nurturing the earth for centuries, but it’s quite possible for other (sub-species) Lycans to gain these gifts as well. They have a certain spirituality circulating around their existence that is rare in today’s modern age of man whom is the main dominator currently ruining the earth.
Unlike shifters and some modern lycans, the animal that they are connected with, the dire wolf, is fully integrated into their psyche where they are at ‘one’ with the mind, body, and spirit of the individual, instead of acting like a separate entity or a second conscious. This wolf within themselves represents the instinctual impulses of a wolf, but they also work as a subconscious  where all the things that the consciousness of the person is presently unaware of, that being feelings, thoughts, fears, ect, also they act like a 6th sense. This being is referred to as their ‘wolf spirit’ - not a literal spirit but its what makes them a Lycan.
Lycan Direwolves are an ancient breed of wolf only mentioned in folklore, and are considered legends in the werewolf community that laid out the foundations of survival for their future brethren. I should mention there are regular lycans too, which are like the common wolf. Here’s a link to a post I made for more info about my species.
Werewolves (Modern Lycans) *
Creatures where a human was either, in a rare case, somehow infected by a sick Lycan with a contagious disease only vulnerable to humans, or born as one through genes passed down from a werewolf parent or ancestor; nonetheless, they are all descendants of Lycans in someway through synthetic genetic editing. They sometimes have an imbalance in their brain that causes the wolf within to be uncontrollably animalistic where they tend to lack reasoning in their wereform. And unlike a pure blood Lycan, some can experience pain when they transform. They also can’t morph into a feral wolf. This modern breed initiated the stereotype that enforced the idea that all wolves are blood thirsty beasts with the only agenda to kill everything in their path; it’s commonly seen in the entertainment industry and media in our world, many of which produces horror films involving ravenous werewolves, and it doesn’t help that humans already believe that regular wolves are dangerous to their livestock, hence gave wolves the title as the ‘big bad wolf’. But I should say that not all werewolves share the same mentality, they are quite diverse with a multitude of sub-species in how they interact and behave around people.
In their wereform, werewolves can either recognize their loved ones, friends, or not; they act more beastly, more like a wolf or dog as an easier term, but some are born with the ability to maintain their human mind in such a state. Some can even morph on a full moon or anytime they want. And when it comes to their body shape in wereform, they either have a physique that's all in proportion, or one where the limbs may be a bit longer than another; a more beastly form that often mimics a deficiency in their human sensibilities. There is a deep contrast between common Werewolves and Lycan Dire Wolves, but the overall concept is that Lycans are an ancient, pure blooded race that existed way back in prehistoric times when the extinct dire wolf once lived along side them, nonetheless, should a Lycan breed with a human, their offspring will have all the genetic makeup of their Lycan parent, which give onlookers the impression that they are pure. Werewolves are not always strictly pure blood, their genes have been mixed with other creatures (other than humans), which results in a number of variations of werewolves in my world. But what makes a werewolf obvious is their lack of the four spiritual connections that only a Lycan possess.
In regards to their 'wolf spirit’, the way it acts differs for each individual. In some circumstances, such as for the ones who experience that unnatural imbalance in their brain, their inner wolf holds the capability to force itself to the forefront of their mental to take control of the mind of the individual where they’d act on their animalistic instincts, but this doesn’t suggest that the beast within always hold hostile intentions, either way, this is a case where the wolf spirit is a separate entity with it’s own identity, but it still possesses the feelings of the individual that is suppressed deep in their hearts. As for the ones where there is a perfect balance, the wolf spirit is the same as lycans. This also goes the same for other were-beasts with their own ‘animal spirit’.
Shifters & Mythical Beasts *
Shifters differ greatly from were-beasts. There are a few factors that separate this race from the other, and one of them obviously involves in how they shift into their animal form. Foremost, shifters only have one form they can transform into, that being their ‘animal’ or ‘feral’ form; they don’t possess an ‘anthromorphic’ or ‘bipedal’ form where they can walk on two legs like were-beasts do. Nevertheless, they are either capable of articulating human speech, using a mental connection to communicate with other beings, or sometimes are incapable of communicating at all in the human language – the race varies within their own circle. Another thing is the animal that is a part of them is a separate entity all together; the animal within has their own mind with their own feelings, and in a way they act like a second conscious that represents the instincts of that particular animal (whereas for were-beasts their animal acts like a subconscious).
Mythical beasts are beings spoken in mythology.

Why Severus Snape Is Cooler Than You or Your Cow
It’s the age-long question (…well, “age-long” since 1997 at least): Is Severus Snape a good guy (with attitude problems), or should we all hate his guts? Well, buckle your seat belts, kids, ‘cause I’m gonna take you on a ride. Severus Snape is the most complex, well-written, thought-out character in the whole Harry Potter series—and yes, I mean more than Harry Potter. We all know JK loves hidden easter eggs and untold traditions and backgrounds, e.g. Sirius Black AKA Dog Black the Black Dog, so I personally double triple check basically everything that seems a little too obvious, and we were given so much of Snape’s background for unnoticeable reasons. So let’s delve in, shall we?
The first thing I want to analyze is Snape’s psychology. In order to do so, we will look at  Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. In his theory, Abraham Maslow says to be a “fully functioning person” or to have a “healthy personality” one must first fulfill 5 levels of needs: psychological, safety, emotional, esteem, and self-actualization. Psychological needs—oxygen, food, water, body temp., etc,—are the base of this hierarchy. Snape's psychological needs are met, however they are done so minimally. In the books it’s revealed that his childhood home was dingy and run-down and his Hogwarts robes were second hand. While he had everything he needed, he was most likely not comfortable in his environment.
After psychological needs comes safety needs. An average child will show insecurity a lot more often than an adult will. Add this common statistic to the fact that Snape’s father regularly beat his wife—therefore likely Snape himself as well—and you can safely assume that, no, Snape’s safety need were definitely not met. As a matter of fact, Snape probably saw his situation not as a lack of safety, but as a presence of danger, or in other words, “negative safety value”. So far, Snape’s childhood has met 0.5/2 needs… feel sympathy yet? No? Okay then, we’ll keep going.
Next is emotional needs. Emotional needs includes love, affection, and belongingness. In this stage, people seek to overcome loneliness, isolation, and/or alienation. If you’re questioning whether or not Snape met these needs, well, you didn’t look very hard then. OBVIOUSLY Snape never overcame any of these, dare I say, ever. Of course he was lonely, he only had one friend after all. Isolation came from being a Slytherin who was best friends with a muggleborn, and feelings of alienation was the result of relentless bullying of the (aptly named) Marauders. According to Maslow, to finalize this stage you must give as well as receive love. This was never done and obviously so for many reasons, which will be explored later.
Needs for esteem come 77next in the hierarchy. For this, a person needs a healthy respect for themselves and others. We can safely throw respect for others—save for Lily—out the window given treatment from his father and the Marauders. After mistreatment from multiple sources, it’s common to lose self-respect if you even had it in the first place. When/if these needs are met, the person feels confident and valuable. If not, he or she feels inferior, week, helpless, and worthless. After a toll of 0.5/4 needs so far, I think there’s no question on whether or not Snape felt this way.
After the person in question is satisfied in all the former needs, they move onto the final step of self-actualization, or a person’s need to be and do that which the person was “meant to do” as prescribed by fate. It’s arguable that in the end, Snape did find what he was born to do at least in a sense. Not only was he gifted in potions, but he seemed to enjoy it as well. Now, that doesn’t quite mean this need was met. Actually, given the lack of criteria he’s met so far, he probably doesn’t even see this as his real purpose in life, which would explain why he spent the rest of his life trying to repent for his childhood/young adult mistakes. So technically, he didn’t really meet this need at all since it’s only him that matters in the instance anyway.
Therefore, the finally tally is *drumroll*… 1/2 out of 5… dang. That's one disappointing childhood. This goes to show that Snape has every psychological excuse to act like a jack ass. Sure that may not really excuse his actions; I don't think so either, but it fully explains why he did all those things and acted the way he did. After all, this amounts to 1/10 of any person’s needs. For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, that’s 10%… Snape had 10% of his total motivation.
Aside from his emotional malnourishment as a child, let’s talk about what happened in his Hogwarts years and soon after. First off he only had one friend… like, in his whole life… ever. That’s awful sad. He was exposed to some sort of abuse 365 days of his life, be it from his father in the summer or from the Marauders during school. He ruined the only good thing he had going for him through misguided, bling rage. His only friend, who he still loves, kicks him while he’s down and marries the head of his former bully-gang… and he still loves her… Then he has to go and be the reason she's killed. Of course he didn’t know that at the time, but when he finds out he hates himself more than probably anyone in the history of ever. If he hadn’t been nosey and told Voldemort that partial prophecy, Voldemort never would have went hunting for the Potters and therefore Lily would have never had to die for Harry. Conclusion: People commit suicide with 60% of their life fulfilled according to Maslow. They kill themselves on a lack of self-esteem (the 4th out of 5 stages). Snape had his measly 10% of a life ripped out from under him, torn to pieces, and fed to the werewolf that almost killed him. But he still fought for Harry—maybe it was for Lily, but he did it nonetheless, and that isn’t to be ignored on my blog.
Now that we’ve established why Snape was a jerk, let’s analyze if he actual was one or if he just used his dungeon bat facade as a coping mechanism (spoiler alert: it’s the last one). For one example, let’s take a look at this screen cap from Prisoner of Azkaban: Werewolf Scene
This is not the face of a man who just generally hates everything about life including all the cute little flowers and rainbows it comes with. It’s the face of a man who’s reliving the scariest moment of his life. And can we just take a moment to acknowledge that he instinctively ran to protect these kids. A true jerk doesn’t do that. They may save them from something threatening their life (which he still might not have done if he was the man he’s commonly accused of being), but Snape was smart. He’s seen this before. In the moment Lupin had just begun his transformation, so there was still not only the time the transformation took, but also the time it would take for Lupin’s werewolf form to come into awareness, assess the possible prey, then begin stalking—not attacking, wolves stalk towards their prey then attack when the timing is suitable. Snape knew he had this time too, knew they weren’t in immediate danger, so he took the short amount of time it would take to get there and jumped in front of not only three people, but three kids, and not only three kids, but three students, and not only three students, but the three students he referred to as the bane of his existence. This is the face of a man who simply doesn’t want anyone else to feel as helpless as he did. This is the face of a man who would die for his least favorite students because he doesn’t feel as though he has enough reason to keep living.
The second example I want to use is that Snape was not the bad teacher his students and most of his audience said he was. Mull over this: the students in books 1-5 actually did pretty well. The Slytherins did as well as you would expect any average student to do, Hermione did great even (until sabotaged); even Harry did okay sometimes. The only reason everybody else did so badly was because they were scared and intimidated. The Slytherins weren’t because Snape didn’t treat them the same way; he wouldn’t take points from Slytherin as often because of course he wants his house to win the cup (I’m sure he just loved Dumble’s meddling), and Hermione wasn’t as affected because she’s a freaking hard-headed badass. Then BAM! Everyone’s  in their sixth year and suddenly doing terrible. From the Slytherins to Hermione, no one could get a single potion to goo right… except Harry. Harry Potter, the lucky lil lion who managed to get ahold of a hand-me-down book that formerly belonged to none other than our very own Severus Snape. “He made all these corrections, so he should have given these recipes to the students instead of the faulty text books,” grumbles the haters. Well haters, let’s revisit the Philosopher’s Stone shall we? Harry mentions that in his first potions class Snape “waves his wand and the recipe to a potion appears on the black board.” These kids bought potions books every year (most likely required for every subject) but never used them for potion making. Every recipe they used was put on the black board by Snape himself. He did that because he know the books were wrong. He did give his recipes to the students… So haha. In your invalid faces, haters! He didn’t want the students to make a potion with an incorrect recipe; people say he didn’t care about his students but he did. He gave those students better chances at succeeding with correct recipes. The comparison goes like this: food instructions, mean teacher=average grades, bad instructions, good teacher= bad grades. Even with the best students. Now tell me that Snape was a bad teacher.
Everyone has coping mechanism. This was Snape’s, and it’s way more common than it’s getting credit for. The number one reason for uncontrollable or aggravated anger in adults (or anyone really) is early exposer to the receiving end of the same anger. In other words: an eye for an eye. And it’s not as controllable as people claim it is.
Now that I’ve given my spill about Snape not being bad, just rude, I want to let it be known that Snape offers a parallel to so many characters. His reaction to his life is only one of many, many, many possibilities.
Harry: Both share…
Abusive households
Childhood bullies how thought he ,bullied, was below him, bully (harry beneath Draco for blood-status and Snape beneath James for his house)
Potential for Slytherin (only changed through early exposure to prejudice against—oddly enough—each others’ house)
Pressure to be in the house they were in from their families’ history in said houses
Difference: Harry’s was justice, Snape’s drive was his love for Lily
Draco:
Slytherin
Pressure to be a Death Eater
Prejudice against Gryffindor house
Difference: Draco was more fearful than Snape when given tasks by            Voldemort
Sirius:
Abusive households
Slytherin raising
Difference: Stubbornness and the remaining Marauders
Luna: (Stick with me here)
An outsider
The “odd” and off-putting character
Confronted with an opportunity to be friends with the “popular kid” (Snape could have been friends with James if the latter had been more accepting and with the aid of Lily. It seems far fetched but then again Luna was pretty out there when she met Harry)
Difference: Luna was raised in a very different household…
*The comparison with Harry is much longer simply because of the amount of background we have.
Now, why is it that in the end Snape isn’t kind and obviously good like most of his counterparts when they were all so similar? Legilimency? Espionage? The “Greater Good”? ALL. Legilimency: Snape obviously couldn’t let Voldemort see him walking down the halls of Hogwarts handing out flowers with the Hufflepuffs… yeah, I want to see that Death Eater meeting too. Espionage: The tricky thing with Snape is the Dark Side thinks he’s spying for them and the Light Side thinks he’s spying for them. He has to keep up a constant shield, not letting anyone to close, not letting anything get out too far, and definitely not letting anyone know for certain what side he’s actually on. This allows him to get secrets from both sides. He’s the ultimate spy; he could probably start up his own army after all that. The greater good: Snape started out an actual Death Eater, then repented, then technically stayed with the Dark Side, but also technically stayed with the Light Side. He also uses this in his spying by using it as the perfect cover. Because while he “spies” for the Dark Lord, he’s actually with the good guys. He uses his dark past to blend seamlessly with the Death Eaters so he isn't discovered. He acts like a… ahem….a few choice words for the end purpose of helping the Light.
Now that we’ve (finally) reached the conclusion, let’s conclude. In this picture we see that he realizes—fully for the first time—that he chose wrongly and maybe realizes that choosing differently probably could have saved his relationship with Lily, saved her from death, and brought him a real family for once in his life—cause we all know lovey-dovey Lily Evans Potter would incorporate Severus into her family if it was the last thing she did. He finally sees everything he did wrong and regrets it with everything he has left. This man was very, very hurt and simply ill over that pain, but Severus Snape was not an inherently bad guy.
