Next is Gardenia, i really really really want a Froslass and im so happy at the snow.

Alice strolled around West Lake Axewell looking up at the snow. She’d wandered around The Wild area before, and the sudden snowfall wasn't really unusual, but the soft quiet of snow floating down to the world was always soothing.

The wonder lasted for a few minutes before a still wind blew over her, and hugged herself to try to ineffectually keep the cold out.

“I should have brought a hoodie or something…” She grumbled and looked around the ground at the piling snow grateful she had at least put on her good leather ankle boots.

She looked back up and ran off, ready to buy a hoodie to keep on hand. She puffed a warm breath into her hands almost missing a small white flower that peeked out at her from the tall grass , undaunted by the sudden cold.

Alice squinted at it, and adjusted her glasses slowing down to see the lone standing flower. She crouched down to see what it was.

“A gardenia?” Alice pursed her lips and reached out to it before a snow ball clocked her solidly in the face.

“BWAAAAAHHHHH!!!” She flailed her arms, and fell back while an angry cry from the grass came closer to her.

Alice quickly brushed off most of the snow to see an angry snorunt charging at her with the flower.

“AH! Uh! Gloriosa!” She threw the ball and Gloriosa came out with a determined look, and fire leaking from her mouth ready to burn up whoever needed to be incinerated.

The snorunt didn’t flinch, and launched another snowball that hit her side. Gloriosa just shook off the snow and fired an ember that landed, and made the snorunt wiggle in anxiety.

As this happened Alice stood up, and shook off the snow with a relieved sigh, and a smile . “A Froslass would be very helpful.”

Gloriosa chased the snorunt around with a few embers as the snorunt realized the moment they fucked up.

“Gloriosa good job! To me!” Alice pulled a pokeball out, and grinned ready for seeing stars.

She herded the mon to her with a satisfied grin, and Alice tossed the ball catching the now weakened snorunt in red light.

~Stars~

Gloriosa puffed up her chest as Alice called her back to her ball, “That was great!~”

Alice strolled forward, and scooped up the other ball with a small smile. “Welcome to team Gardenia~”

Nuzlocke Shield Part One

Might as well keep track of my Shield playthrough. So here goes.

The rules:

I can only catch the first Pokemon encountered on a route or wild area zone. If that Pokemon faints, I cannot catch another.

I’m purposely trying to get the ! encounters in the grass rather than what's visibly walking. That way it's more of a random choice.

If I encounter a duplicate of a Pokemon I already have, I can try for a second, but not a third.

I can fight Pokemon in dens, but I cannot catch any of them.

Pokemon given as a gift are allowed, but they take the place of any Pokemon that would have been caught on the route or location they are obtained.

All Pokemon must be nicknamed.

If a Pokemon on my team faints, it gets boxed and cannot be used again.

If I white out, it's game over.

Part One

Sat through what seemed like hours of exposition

Randomised my starter, got Grookey:

Drumroll - Grookey (f) Overgrow Impish (Dfc up / SAk down) “It has a sturdy body”

Visited Slumbering Weald

Attempted to fight a giant dog that farted fog

Route 1 encounter, Nickit:

Bandit - Nickit (m) Run Away Naive (Spd up / SDf down) “It's somewhat of a clown!”

Bandit fainted against the first thing it battled because I wasn’t paying attention properly. Not a great start tbh.

Bandit is KO’d

More exposition, love how long it takes to actually play the game these days. Gotta explain how to walk for the people who've never played a game before.

Alright, route 2 first encounter is.... Purrloin. I hate Purrloin.

Never mind, I crit a Branch Poke and killed it. Dammit, I am fucking this playthrough up already.

Focused on training up Drumroll, so when it came to battling Hop, he was no match for my level 12 Grookey

Not sure why Leon thinks Hop is worth endorsing when I just one shot his team of three, but I what do I know?

Oh cool, more exposition. This is why I don’t replay Pokemon games much anymore.

Finally got to the Wild Area, and in the Rolling Fields it's snowing. First encounter should be a good one and it's....Vanillite!

HaagenDazs - Vanillite (f) Ice Body Lonely (Atk up / Dfc down) “It likes to run!” (It doesn’t have any legs though?)

Next zone, West Lake Axewell it's raining. Let's see what we get this time... Tympole!

Tympole leads with Acid that does a fair chunk of damage to Grookey, whereas I led with swift which didn’t do much. Luckily I caught it with the first pokeball.

Gumball - Tympole (m) Swift Swim Docile (no change) “It's mischievous!”

The final area before I get to Motostoke, East Lake Axwell and it's raining here too. Luckily I encounter a different pokemon.

Spritz - Grubbin (f) Swarm Mild (SAk up / Dfc down) “It takes plenty of siestas!”

I hit up a couple of dens that are around and get a load of TRs I can’t use and do some battles to raise my team up to similar levels. Finally, get into Motostoke, and I think this is a good time to stop so I can get some lunch.

He knew his parents were famous. He knew they couldn't so much as leave the house for groceries without someone stopping them to ask for a selfie or sign an autograph. So when he first stepped into the wild area to start his own pokemon journey, he should have known he would run into a reporter right after his flying taxi landed in Motostoke.

"Basil! We were hoping to be the first to catch you here," the woman said, holding a microphone as she spoke. "We'd like to ask you a few questions if it's not too much trouble."

"Actually-" he started. Basil didn't have any time to waste on answering silly questions for the public to fawn over. Other kids, his potential rivals, were already crawling around the wild area catching pokemon, and he had only been given two to start out.

"Great!" The woman said. The camera focused in on him as the woman stood closer. Basil looked at the pokeballs hanging from her waist. Three on her, and three on the cameraman. Even though Basil was sure he could win, he figured answering their questions would take less time than a battle. He folded his arms and shifted his weight on his left leg.

"So we have to know, what's it like being the son of two pokemon legends?" The reporter turned the microphone towards him.

"It's- ah," Basil noticed the woman's huge smile and unwavering stare. He blushed. "It's really not something that's on my mind."

"Surely expectations are high for you because of that! And to have a famous uncle as well! It must be hard for you!"

"No, not really." He looked away. A skwovet was carrying some berries away from a tree in the distance. Two pecha, one aspear, and one he couldn’t see well enough to identify.

The reporter looked discouraged for a split second before smiling again. “Well, are you excited to start your journey here today?”

He shifted his weight again, and his reply came out quick and effortless: “Of course. My mother and father claimed to have completed their pokedexes long ago, but I know there’s so much more to be found out there.” He paused, smiling at the ground. “Pokemon grow and change just like us. I want to raise my own with all the love I can. People have been doing that for generations, that’s nothing new.” He started talking with his hands. “But I want to keep chasing the new things as well! I want to show everyone why we should keep on cherishing our beloved pokemon! I want to discover something that’s never been seen, and I want to be the one share it with everyone!”

Before he knew it, a small crowd of campers had gathered around him, fixated on his every word. He looked around, and, blushing, said, “ah- I should be going.” He ran into the wild area and didn’t stop until he ran into the edge of West Lake Axwell. A good time to set up camp, he thought.

caught a lv 14 vanillite in west lake axwell! nearly lost relish in the process- she was down to 2 hp at one point and the weather was hailing! if she hadn’t traced vanillite’s ice body ability she’d have been down for the count. but i got the vanillite, and her name is sprinkles!

Pokemon Sword Raid Run Part 3

So Shimmer evolved pretty much instantly after I played with her in the camp a little bit, so we have a Clefairy now!

I went to fight Nessa and took her out easily. I taught Shimmer Magical Leaf and used her to take out her Goldeen and Arrokuda. Then I Dynamaxed Cherry for the Drednaw. The Drednaw outsped, but Cherry took it out in one hit with a crit Max Overgrowth.

Now I can catch ANOTHER Pokemon! (Am I just now realizing how close these first two gyms are?) So, we're going back to the Wild Area to find a raid!

There uhh... weren't actually that many natural spawning raids to picl from. But I did find a purple one at the West Lake Axwell, so I went with that. And it was a Magikarp.... I mean, Gyarados is great, but now I have two water types. Oh well.

I caught her and named her Koi after the koi fish. She'll evolve in one level so it's not that bad. (I'm also realizing that a lot of these raid Pokemon just evolve instantly) I guess Koi can be useful in the next gym, so that'll be nice.
