for some perspective, a summary of the reactions thus far to watchertv:
positive:
they'll have more creative freedom to do what they want, improve current shows, and develop future shows while not having to appease advertisers
they keep the profits - youtube no longer takes a cut
shane said password sharing is fine
weird wonderful world could come back?!?!
support creatives!
negative:
it costs close to other major streaming services that have thousands of movies & shows
the economy is in shambles y'all
USD$6 is expensive in some other countries
the watchertv website isn't accessible in some other countries
they were going to remove all their old content from youtube but backtracked on that
they had people sending in stories/evidence for upcoming seasons of too many spirits/ghost files without telling fans they'd have to pay to actually watch those shows they're contributing to
people who recently subscribed to their patreon and paid annually are feeling cheated
no word on when/how new seasons/shows will drop
they hyped up this announcement as something really fun and wonderful only for it to be about making their content less accessible to their audience
worries about this bankrupting the company in the not-too-distant future due to the cost/inaccessibility for current and possible future fans
the weird decision to make the announcement video thumbnail reminiscent of the try guys video addressing the ned scandal
So the infamous reviewbomber has made her X account public again and issued a non-apology, basically blaming all her racist bad choices on-- (checks notes)--mental illness and substance abuse.
And then the responses flood in.
The "aged like milk" tweets.
(REALLY????)
I went "OH DAMN" at this one:
Frankly, this post would go on for miles if I went and screencapped all the receipts and call-outs.
The weak-ass excuse of an apology can be found here. Interestingly, Cait disabled replies to it after she got rightfully roasted.
BUT---in case she deletes it (click to embiggen):
And my guess is, Del Rey (the publisher) may be trying to recoup lost money on this, because... (sigh)
Okay I have just spent a chunk of time investigating this so posting for anyone else who is confused:
The cut television version of Episode 12 will air today, Saturday the 10th, in its normal time slot at 10:40 pm in Thailand
This cut version that airs today will not be aired on YouTube with subs for international fans
The full uncut Episode 12 is being held for the live streaming event that requires purchasing a ticket
The livestream event will happen Sunday the 11th at 6 pm in Thailand
The full uncut Episode 12 will then be put on YouTube with subs for free on Saturday the 24th
The cut and uncut versions apparently have two different endings, according to the show’s official YouTube channel
So for international fans, you will have to either pay for the livestream to watch tomorrow or wait two weeks to see it on YouTube for free. I’m sure there will be pirated versions soon enough, as well, but they likely won’t have subs. Spoilers will start leaking in a couple hours once the TV version airs, so filter according to your plans and spoiler preferences.
Boston is the toxic glue that holds this friendship group together because if this is how he treats his friends I certainly wouldn't want to be his enemy.
Me watching the trailer of Heartbreak High season 2: Ugh another one of those love triangles🙄
Me watching the first few episodes: Oh... So Rowan and Malakai like each other too👀
Me watching the last few episodes: Rowan can go suck it, Amarie needs to... I don't even fucking know, and Malakai better have a good start in Switzerland🫶
It's just speculation, but I think they are going to try to broadcast BOMB before 7B and thus extend the subscriptions as much as possible. The problem? their fall that is happening right now. Reading the comments on S***'s IG is a shower of complaints and cancellations.
Badly played and bad fan service. Sam and Cait can't be happy either.
Oh no the silly doodle made me snort with laughter so loud that everyone turned and looked at me. Now I'm making it worse by imagining that Wilbur spent a day falling over constantly because he didn't know how to balance himself anymore. Tommy was left thinking about how it's hard to have an emotional and dramatic reunion when Wilbur keeps faceplanting and desperately flapping his wings like an oversized chicken to catch himself.
