What is Inner Peace and How Do You Find It?

Life can get chaotic, there’s no doubt about it. With growing challenges and stress, it’s easy to get pulled into a negative mental and emotional state; but just because outside circumstances get difficult doesn’t mean that you have to be pulled down into them.

While your outside reality may be filled with things to do, places to be and difficulties to overcome, your inner reality has the potential to be calm and peaceful, a place where you can come back to rest and recharge whenever you need.

Too many people keep themselves in a negative state, constantly mulling over problems and difficulties, and too often people are working against themselves, allowing their inner selves to be pulling into a state of turmoil and challenge; but it doesn’t have to be that way. You can be still and calm even when the world around you is in chaos. You can have inner peace.

What is Inner Peace?

Inner Peace is the ability to feel at peace even when the world around you isn’t doing so well. Having inner peace means that if your life is going great, you’re feeling peaceful and calm and if your life is filled with problems and difficulties, you still feel peaceful and calm. It’s the ability to find some sort of equilibrium within you so that no matter what the circumstances are outside, you are able to come back into this state of peace.

I like to call it home, because that is what it feels like, comfortable and warm and safe. It’s the reassurance that everything will be alright and that you can overcome anything and everything because the Universe has your back.

I used to be afraid of Inner Peace, strangely enough. I felt that inner peace meant boring and uneventful. I though it meant no more adventure and excitement, which I like very much. I thought that finding inner peace would cause me to lose my sense of self (which is ridiculous, considering that finding inner peace is actually a sense of finding yourself). This was the ego talking, and the chaos, fear and anxiety which had been living rent free in my head for so long that they didn’t want to leave.

Inner peace is not losing yourself or your personality at all. It’s finding that part of you that is filled with ease and comfort and reassurance. It’s finding your sense of home. Finding inner peace is sort of like finding a place you can go back to when things are difficult.

Of course, inner peace doesn’t mean you never struggle, that’s part of life, but it does mean you are able to get past difficulties with more ease and less stress.

Inner peace also connects you to the present moment. Sometimes we are so wrapped up in our thoughts that we lose sight of the present and we stop living in the now. Our thoughts are powerful and magical, but if we are constantly entertaining them, we can easily miss the wonderful opportunities and the simple joys of life.

Growing up in a conservative small town, Jamie always found refuge from his stifling surroundings in music. Finally, he was able to escape for real and spent most of his 20s trying to make it work as a singer-songwriter in San Myshuno. As much as he loves the craft, constantly grinding to make a living as an independent musician has started taking a toll. But his identity has been tied to music for so long he's not sure who he is without it. A year ago, he gave up his hole-in-the-wall apartment and has since become an aimless wanderer, drifting from a hostel in Windenburg to a campground in Henford-on-Bagley to a friend's lumpy sofa in Del Sol Valley. He's certain that if he just keeps moving he'll eventually stumble upon where the next chapter of his life is meant to unfold.

I love the idea behind this challenge (seriously, everyone should submit because it looks so fun!) and was sad I didn't have time to make a whole new Sim for it. But then I remembered I've had this guy sitting in my library for the past year, and I actually think he's the perfect candidate! He's somewhat based on an OC of mine, but since I don't have immediate plans to do anything with him, I thought it'd be fun to send him off on an adventure and see what happens. He's got likes/dislikes, several skills, and a variety of outfits, most of which I hope are or can easily be made suitable for camping. Enjoy! :)

After pondering on it for several days, I have officially decided I did not like the direction of KFP4 and have banished it from my brain. It is no longer canon. KFP4? What's that? Don't know what you're talking about.

#spoilers ahead #it wasn't all bad #I really truly loved the scenes with Li and Mr Ping they were wonderfully hilarious #and the music was great #BUT #I just did not like the direction they took Po's story at all. #and I'm kinda furious they subtly undermined Shifu's character #by making him “fine”/“not fine” with Oogway picking Po as his successor instead of him. #it was only a thing for 2 seconds for the sake of humor but it completely undermines his inner peace character development #first off why can there only be one successor #and second off why can't Po take primarily the fighting side and Shifu take the spiritual side #It FITS HIM #don't know if most people would notice that shifu's character was undermined but because he's one of my favorites I sure did and it HURT #also um the furious five WHY didn't we have them be the main characters with Po instead of the fox chick no one cares about #literally their interactions with Po that's WHY WE'RE HERE DREAMWORKS #also it's become really obvious to me that the fox girl was literally written just so they could cast a specific voice actress in a big rol #nothing against that actress I love her in other stuff but that was a bad move Dreamworks #and another thing #the movie's message about change not always being bad is perfectly fine and good in theory #but such character change is only satisfying from a storytelling perspective if the audience actually WANTS the character to change!!! #I don't WANT Po to stop being the dragon warrior! The time has come to put my two favorite things together again.

And I have seen some similarities with Mac and Shen that I would like to share hehe. First:

-Both felt abandoned by their loved ones

-They want to take revenge some time later

-They feel wronged by their past

-Their backstories are explained with Chinese puppets ahhh

dating the8 feels like...

basking in the sun on a lazy day. the pleasant atmosphere, when there is no rush and bustling, surrounds relationship with minghao, the dolce far niente. he is art: vibrant with all the colors in the world and deep in the meaning of it. the beauty in relationships for him is in togetherness, in 'we are one' mentality and it translates into his desire to share everything with you.

('i thought you could help me finish my painting,' minghao says, gesturing to the canvas and bunch of drawing tools scattered around.

'oh minghao,' you step closer, mindful not to knock over some stuff. 'are you sure? you know i'm awful at it, what if i just ruin it?'

sensing your hesitance, he just smiles and pats your back. 'then we'll start over. painting itself is not important, i just want us to do it together.')

minghao is 'quality time love language' guy through and through: words and gifts don't hold the same meaning for him as simply spending time together with you. time is a priceless gift and when he's with you, he ignores everything else; his full attention is on you and you only. minghao doesn't care what you do as long as you are doing it together and he has a unique gift of making even the most mundane tasks full of fun or shape them in other way.

('do you know how people used to wash blankets before washing machines? they just poured water into the basin, placed blankets in there and then stepped on them.' he explains, giving you a hand as you climb into the tub filled with water with your blanket underneath. 'i added a bit of detergent there, so we can just step-'

'or we can wait till tomorrow when that guy'll come and fix our washing machine,' you interrupt, skeptically looking down. 'i can't believe we're doing this.'

minghao grins, squeezing your hands. he starts marching, creating waves and moving blanket underneath. you give in, because his enthusiasm is infectious and start marching with him. 'this is unbeliev- minghao!' you shout, when you lose your footing and slide to the back, falling into the tub, taking minghao with you. 'ouch!'

he quickly pulls you up, you both stare at each other in pure shock and it takes only two seconds for the bathroom to be filled with the sound of you two laughing loudly.)

minghao is a quiet museum dates with soft exchange of your opinions, he is a loud beach date with splashing water on each other, he is the 'grocery shopping is fun!' and 'you wanna try ceramics class later?' kind of dates that always leave the warmest memories.

he listens closely and is very invested in your life; he's very serious when you come to him with your problems, his advices are always wise and given with best intent ('i want what's best for you and your inner peace is more important than other people being offended because of your rejection'), minghao worries but not in an overbearing way, he manages to show that he cares and give space at the same so you won't feel suffocated.

('i think i'd like to do it on my own,' you say, tracing veins on his arms with your finger. 'but just in case-'

'i will be here if you need me,' he promises, looking up at you. you are so relived that he's not arguing or pushing, he simply accepts your wish and respects it. you smile at this and he smiles back, pushing your foreheads together. 'i will always wait for you.')

dating minghao is like having home in a person. whenever you come to him he's always there, waiting for you with open arms, loving smile and kind words. he is a home, where you are looked at without judgement, where your opinions are important and where your presence is appreciated.
