Synopsis: Danny Phantom agrees to one interview, and the trio brainstorms the answer to the inevitable “how did you die?”

“Electrocution?”

Danny grimaced, at the ceiling and not at Tucker because he couldn’t be bothered to lift his head. He lay flat on his back in bed, partly imagining his own fake death and partly just listening to his friends’ ideas.

“Too close to the real deal,” he said.

“Point acknowledged,” Tucker said, ‘hmm’ing for a moment, “car accident?”

“…A little boring, yeah?”

“‘A little boring’ he says,” Tucker said, and Danny heard the sound of pencil scribbling. “It’s one of the more reasonable options. Like the number one cause of death.”

“No, that’s heart disease,” Sam said, “and that…honestly kinda anticlimactic.”

“You too, huh?” Tucker said, “not everyone can have a heroic exit.”

“But I could,” Danny said, sitting up, “you don’t think I’m cool enough to have, like, run into a burning building to save people?”

“It’s hard to think of you as cool when you’ve got like six model space shuttles on your dresser—hey!” Tucker rolled on the floor, avoiding the smiley-face shaped stress ball Danny had launched at him. “And hard to see you as heroic when you throw things at me, your best friend.”

Danny rolled his eyes, letting out a sigh.

“…I regret asking people I’ve known since childhood to write my tragic backstory.”

“I want to revisit food poisoning,” Sam interjected, “I think if people learned their hero was ended by unsafe and unregulated manufacturing of—“

“I’m not telling the six o’clock news I shit myself to death so you can bring down Nestle!”

There was a moment of silence before the three dissolved into laughter so violent he felt they may suffocate. Danny mentally added that one to their list, but by the night’s end they hadn’t really gotten any closer.
