Sitting here scrolling through tumblr on my phone while I have it open on my desktop in front of me, because anytime I pick up my phone my brain automatically says "open tumblr"

I’ve started spreading a layer of cardboard and then a thick layer of leaves and other organic material to kill off the turf grass and “wildflower” beds that the previous people who lived here put down last year. Nearly all of the “wildflowers” were non-native (there was one boneset which was great but that was it) and several full on invasive species 😪 next year I’ll be planting a mini native prairie there! It’ll take several years to fully establish since I’ll mostly be going from seed but I’ll be supplementing with semi-established larger plants where I can.
I’m collecting the stems I pull up in little loops of fencing against the big fence since solitary bees and other insects will use them to winter and lay eggs in.
It’s such a mess back there, can’t wait for it to be a different kind of mess lol. My neighbors in the house you can see there who are the only people who can see that area are the type to think their completely monotone constantly mowed turf grass lawn and a single overly sculpted into an awkward lumpy shape evergreen bush is peak landscaping. I’m sure they’re happy to see me tearing down the messy beds… they got a big storm comin lol.

friendly advice from vetmed: I know that when your animal has an infection that is generating a lot of discharge, you want to describe that to the veterinarian, because it’s a concerning sign. that is true. I also know that the most common word for this type of discharge is “pus,” so it’s logical that that’s the word that you’ll use when describing what’s going on. and in English, we often add a “-y” when we’re using a word as a descriptor.
but. the word. the word you are looking for. is purulent.
please stop sending in messages telling the doctor that your dog has a “pussy wound.”
