[ ACT I ] • [ ACT III ]
MOTHERS HELD A HIGH SOCIAL RANK IN YOUR SOCIETY. They were the bearers of children; held with a status akin to gods. As such, those who were able to give birth were favorable.
Not a womb-less being like you.
You spent a couple decades or so in denial. Hoping that one day you’ll be accepted. That maybe society itself would change and you’d have a place in the world.
Only for reality to ruthlessly slap you in the face.
“[Y/N].”
Your mother’s voice, no matter the content of her speech, always made your heart rate soar. Cold sweat appeared on your palms and forehead, but before it could even be discerned on your form your hands make a swift movement to dry yourself. Your could feel your shakiness intensify as she drew closer.
“Yes, mother?” You greeted back. You cursed inwardly as your words came out hoarse; without its usual confidence. You could already hear her admonish you.
How could you be anything less than perfect? After all you were already born a failure. Might as well make up for it by being the best.
Throughout the decades of your parent’s unfavorable treatment, you had gain a semblance of self-esteem. At least enough to give them cheek at times. Although your subconscious always reminded you of what they were capable of if you weren’t engaged.
Your teenage self could never imagine talking back to them. With that, in spite of the unwarranted attention you were somewhat happy with the circumstances you were given.
“You went to the countryside, again.” Her arms crossed over her chest, and tar colored blouse. She always wore black clothes and a solemn look wherever she went, intimidating many that dared to gaze at her direction. Her graying hair was tied into a tight bun. Pointed, cat like eyes behind thick glasses. But she was beautiful. Annoyingly so. The very reason why so many fell at your feet.
“I am here now.”
“Her Highness was looking all over for you.”
“That’s the point. I was hiding from that witch.” You crossed your arms. You did not like that woman at all. You remembered repeatedly enforcing your boundaries and personal space to which she repeatedly broke down and disrespected.
“[Y/N]! Stop being such a brat. Act your age for once. This is a golden opportunity. For you and our whole family!”
“Selling my body wasn’t enough? Your greed really knows no bounds.”
You shut your mouth immediately. You’ve gotten too far, if her heels clacking on the ground wasn’t already an obvious indication her thin, banshee like screech should be.
You expected a slap, maybe even her pulling your hair out once again, perhaps her nails would tear into your skin once more leaving a scar that would make at least some of your clients change their mind. However before she could even get close enough to touch you, her husband pulled her away.
“Estella . . . if you hurt them, her highness might . . .” He held her back.
You used to think you loved him way back then. When he’d halt your mother’s actions and take care of you after you’d been used. But then you realized that he only saw you as an object he could benefit from as well. Once the princess asked for your hand in marriage he was ecstatic. Waxing on and on about how happy it’d make him if you went with her, even allowing her to defile you in your own bedroom at times. The only reason he didn’t actively hurt you was because your mother’s ego was so fragile that she’d take him getting physical as a sign of defiance and ill will.
Swarms of hatred encircled your heart. To think you were so blind and hungry for an ounce of their affection only a year ago.
Hours passed before your tears showed signs of stopping its flow. You hoped the streetslights that barely gave vision at least hid you from prying eyes.
“Witch, huh?”
A voice tore you away from your moment of sadness. In fear of anyone else seeing you in this state you hurry to fix yourself as you heard heeled clicks grow louder.
“I should have known.” You turned your head to face the sounds’ source. Only to see the reason why so many tears of yours were wasted this day. “So, does this mean our engagement is off? Or shall I be executed for sullying your name?”
Third Princess Kalliope Mikiavella Levantine. If her name was a nightmare then her presence in your life was evermore.
She was your highest paying client. Ever insatiable. Ever spoiled by her mother the Empress. The only saving grace of this whole situation was that she was not the Crown Princess, yet. Otherwise you might have already been made an imperial concubine or consort.
“Unfortunately not.” She smiled, a little solemn in a way to empathize with your situation, but nonetheless ruthless knowing her power. The princess was beautiful, her blazing red hair that curled immaculately lightly bounced in her steps towards you. Bright amber eyes that almost appeared like the dim streetlights.
“I am unclean. Impure. Why would you want someone like me?” You keep your eyes to your legs lest you fall for her beauty. You always looked somewhere else whenever you two slept together. Always in fear that you’ll grow to love your assaulter — captor.
“I . . . do not know. But everytime I hear you sing my heart feels at ease. I want you in my life, [Y/N]. For as long as I live.”
“Think of it this way, as my spouse you will be ruling over the entirety of this country. Every thing, every one, will be yours. Even those parents who sold you to me. And you’ll give that kid a bright future—“
“[Y/N] . . ?”
You do not think before your lips crashed upon hers.

“Athanaxious? Athanaxious! “
Vasileious searched high and low, in every corner of the ocean Athanaxious usually dwelled in. He even swam the shores, close to those wicked human hunters called fishermen to find him. But with no luck.
“Let him be, Vasilei. He’ll come back in due time.” Aurelius, the pair’s eldest brother, comforted him. Aurelius had a beautiful tail of pure gold, unlike the flecked one Vasileious and Athanaxious owned. His hair was a beautiful, long and curly brown with a lock of blond that made it all the more stunning. His tan skin glimmered akin to the surface waters at day, and almost glowed at night.
“Say that when you get scolded by Mother. I dare you.” Vasileious spat, nerves fried from stress. He would have never interacted or approached a human if it weren’t for his stupid younger brother. But now he’d seen several. Do you know how horrid that experience would be for him? It was downright terrible.
Aurelius, ever the only serene one in the family, massaged the small of his brother’s pale back, “You seem on edge. More so than usual.”
“Athanaxious was meeting with a human, Aurelius. A human!”
“Huh, so you finally found out.”
“You knew of it?!”
“All of us did.” Aurelius shrugged, slightly curling his tail as a gesture of ease. “Oh come on, we all know how much of a snitch you are. Besides, Athanei can’t be dissuaded. Telling him not to do something will only make him want to do it more.”
“He used his siren song on them.”
“No way! How did he sound?”
“. . . It sounded — “ Vasileious ashamedly could only remember your own voice that day, unable to give a proper remark he gave a simple, vague response. “alright.”
“How utterly anticlimactic. Although you saying something aside from terrible means it must be good.”
“Make of it what you will.”
“Irenaeus!”
Another merman appeared. Younger than Aurelius but his beauty unlike any of the other brothers. His tail a beautiful ivory color that slowly transitioned to grey and blacks at the tip. Long dark hair and golden eyes. Irenaeus was known to have the biggest body count of all siblings — bringing thousands of humans to their doom. If it weren’t for his carefree attitude and the god he was named after, one would think he loathed humans more than Vasileious himself. “The human Athan was meeting . . .”
“What about them?”
“Apparently they are to be married off to a human princess. Sailors across the ocean have been speaking of it so. And. . . well . . . “
“Spit it out.”
Irenaeus looked left and right, his tail flicking in an anxious manner, “I believe Athanaxious might be meeting with the Sea Witch shortly.”
“What? You didn’t stop him?!” Vasileious screeched. The ocean floor that surrounded them tremors in his cries, large waves rippling, barreling towards land. His two brothers flinched in pain.
“Less time scolding more time on looking for our brother.” Aurelius broke him out of his moment of panic. “Irenei, inform the rest of our family. Vasilei, let us depart.”

Deep within the Abyss of the ocean, Athanaxious found himself swarmed with feverish determination and anger. The pressure of the waters always felt suffocating but now? It was nothing to the looming dread that drowned his heart.
He reaches his destination before his mind could properly think. He thought long ago that the last time he’d come would be that, the last. But here he was again, far more desperate than he was afraid.
“Be welcome, Than.” The low, gravelly voice of the sea devil danced across the murky waters.
“You must know of the happenings on land.”
He comes out of his hiding, long winding tentacles slither across the walls covered with barnacles and seaweed, as He moved towards Athanaxious, “Mm, I’m afraid not. Please enlighten me.”
“Tch. My human. They’re going to marry some rich lady up north. This cannot happen.”
“You want me to help you ruin a wedding?”
“You know the drill. A price for a boon. This will be quite expensi—“
“I offer you my voice.”
The Sea Witch found themself speechless for moments on end. For a siren to sell their voice would be akin to dooming themself to a lonely, wretched existence. Unable to lure their prey or be of any ‘worth’ in their society. They were aware of Athanaxious’ infatuation over you. Just not self-sacrificing extent of it. “…And in exchange for your precious voice I offer you a new identity as a human.”
“Beware, as every step you take will feel like daggers going through your feet. You will however, be the most graceful dancer upon the land. A perfect fit for our little singer.” An apparition appears between the Devil’s fingertips as it flicked across the waters. It was you, on a platform of sorts surrounded by other humans. You were bringing joy to their faces, as you did with him. “Shall I add a wager to spice up the fun?”
It took a lot of willpower for Athanaxious to rip his eyes away from your ‘magical form’ and all he could muster was a nod.
“Should you succeed your voice shall return, and you wouldn’t have to keep giving me your scales to brew love potions. Their heart will be yours forever more, guaranteed by both their feelings in your triumph and my very own magic.” The apparition shifted; Athanaxious appears within the image — human. The two of you looked joyful as you embraced underneath what seemed to be the moon.
But then it all lasts for a second before it shifted once more. The vision of your happy ending swiftly turned bitter as this apparition’s Athanaxious slowly dissolved and disappeared, before you turn to someone else and embrace them instead.
“If you fail to win their affection before the wedding, I will keep your voice and you shall turn into sea foam.”
Athanaxious felt his stomach grow weak at the illusion’s show. Moreso the possibility of your romance with someone else than his death. He only had one choice.
“I understand. I accept both the deal and the wager.”
“Oh, how magnificent! I hope you don’t go on to regret this.” The Sea Devil lips tugged upwards.
“Now, sing for me.”

“Where will you be going?” Kalliope tugged at your sleeves.
“Out. I’ll be back before sundown.” You gently pulled your arm away from your admirer, as you buttoned your clothes and put on a pair of trousers.
“But—“
“My seed must take root for our marriage to be guaranteed, no? Keep your hips raised.”
“Can we go for another bout before you leave?”
You loop your finger around a lock of her hair, lending her a final kiss to the forehead. “No.”
Your town was not one to write about in history books. It was like any other the Empress was able to conquer under her rule. A quaint village just west of the capital city known for their great alcohol and folks to bed.
In such a small population, everyone knew you and you knew everyone. People even knew of your clients, every single one in fact. They weren’t surprised to see you in much more extravagant or expensive clothing as you passed by the street in an equally gaudy carriage.
It was moreso the armored guards that surrounded you that alerted them of something different.
“[Y/N]!”
Clearly that wasn’t enough to deter your childhood friend from running towards you.
“First you impregnate my sister and leave her all alone to take care of your mistake, now you go and get married without a word to us! Do you even care at all?!” The young man wore overalls. Soot covered his skin from what you assume was the mines he started recently working in.
Yiorgos used to be a lot kinder. Softer. Almost puppy like with his admiration towards you. But after a series of misunderstandings he grew resentful of your existence. You never bothered to correct him.
Or perhaps you were just too busy and hurt by his assumptions.
“Out of their highness’s way.” A guard put their arm between you and your former friend.
“Their . . . highness ?” Yiorgos looked at you, baffled. His hung wide open. He then leaned forward to no doubt shout at you once more before you finally put a word in.
“No, I know him.” You shook your head at the guard. Your focus left the man as soon as a familiar mop of [hair color] entered your vision.
A small girl dressed in clothing akin to your own, left Yiorgos’s side and ran up to you with no regard to the armored knight that loomed over. Excitement clear in her eyes. “Don’t listen to your uncle, you aren’t a mistake alright? Go on in, I’ll be with you.” You gently pushed her towards the siblings’ house. The girl shook her head, unwilling to let go of you. But her grip slowly loosened and she eventually shied away, leaving you and the rest.
“Your sister paid me to sleep with her and insisted not to use protection, we both know I pay for that night every single day since it happened both reputation wise and monetarily. And lastly, as you can see I had no choice.” You tilt you head to the small army of knights made to watch over you and your carriage.
Yiorgos shook his head. Brown hair swaying side to side. “You always have a choice.”
“And my choices are life and death. Don’t bother arguing about my situation!”
“Here’s my last payment and goodbye. I’ll be taking the kid with me to the castle soon.” You throw him a bag filled with gold coins and then proceeded to make your leave.
If there was anything you were proud of in your town however, it would be the opera house you worked at. Thousands of people all throughout the world often came here to watch your shows amongst the other singers and performers.
Due to its popularity it was even funded by the Empress directly. That is how you met the princess.
“[Y/N]! I’ve heard the news. Congratulations.” Your employer, Lady Anastasia — a noble woman —, runs her hand in your hair. She used to be a regular person your mother sold you off to until she eventually hired you as a singer at her Opera House. Of course, that didn’t mean she wouldn’t pay you a little extra for your services after hours.
“What’s with the fuss?” You gestured to the boy servants fussing over a young man. Who seemed a little too familiar, nostalgic maybe. You couldn’t quite put a finger on it.
“Oh, we found a young man out on the beach you frequented. We thought it was you at first but upon closer inspection . . .”
“He’s a mute that one. Ain’t no further thing from our theater’s star.” Her Father, a rather old and gruff man, huffed. He was always so prideful of you. Despite his rough demeanor, you knew that he cared deeply. After Anastasia would bed you, he always came by to give you a cup of tea. You didn’t know how to repay the man except use your body, so he’s had a taste of you as well.
In fact, you wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve bedded half of your town and then some.
“Will you keep your scathing remarks to yourself?” Anastasia lightly slapped him, “He is incredibly talented on the art of dance, light on his feet.”
“And weak on constitution. He barely finished a piece before falling to his knees and panting!”
“I’ll take care of him.” You put a hand to your chin. The man gave you a weird feeling in your stomach. Something tells you that the fates have your threads intertwined.
“Are you sure? With all these wedding preparations. . .” The old man grabbed your shoulders, making you flinch.
You unknowingly glared at him.
“Ah, sorry to be so presumptuous.” He rubbed the back of his neck.
You coughed, unsure how to or if you should even apologize. You decide on focusing at the task at hand. A final show before you’re eternally doomed to the Imperial Palace.
“Well then, why is nobody ready?”

You plopped down on the couch in the common room after finishing changing into your witch Halloween costume. Due to the League of Villains still having it out for your class, the whole school wasn't allowed to go out on Halloween.
As upset as most students were, your class still decided to dress up and celebrate in the dorms. Your class had decorated the common room with pumpkins and bats and the lights were lowered and flickering to make a spooky atmosphere.
"Alright finally got him to come down!" Eijiro exclaimed excitedly. You turned around to see him in a shark onesie standing next to Katsuki who was just wearing all black.
"Aww, you're a shark Kirishima! How cute it suits you... and Bakugo, what are you? A grumpy U.A. student?" You teased him.
"Shut the hell up! I'm going back to my dorm," he yelled.
"Oh no, you promised!" Eijiro said, blocking his friend from walking back to his dorm.
"Ugh fine," Katsuki grumbled and sat down on the couch next to you.
"Don't worry I actually have the perfect costume for you, you even dressed up perfectly in all black!" You exclaimed.
"The hell are you talking about? "Katsuki asked, irritated as you pulled out black cat ears from your bag and placed them on his head.
"There- I'm a witch and you're my black cat!" You smiled at him letting out a giggle at how cute the cat ears looked on him.
"IN YOUR FUCKING DREAMS!" He yelled trying to snatch the ears off his head but you and Eijiro pinned his arms down.
"He's an angry kitty isn't he?" Eijiro laughed.
"LET GO OF ME EXTRAS I'LL EXPLODE YOU BOTH TO HELL!" Katsuki yelled, struggling under your and Eijiro's grasp.
"Come on Bakugo, they are just ears and they look really cute on you!" You said struggling to keep him from removing them.
"Fucking fine, just let go of me," He said shrugging both you and Eijiro off. "But don't expect anything else from me today. This shit is so dumb."
"Hey you guys not getting started on any fun stuff without us are you?" Denki asked as he and Hanta made their way to sit on the adjoining couches.
Denki was wearing all yellow with some pointy yellow ears, and Hanta had a sheet over him with some eyes cut out.
"Aww, Kaminari are you supposed to be Pikachu?" You asked.
"Yeah! You guys always call me that so I thought why not," He shrugged.
"Oh you forgot something though," You said moving over to him.
"Hu what?" He asked, confused.
"The red cheeks!" You yelled and pinched his cheeks tightly.
"Hey stop!" He laughed trying to push you off.
"Ok there, now your costume is complete," You let go and sat back down on the couch laughing at Denki's now reddened cheeks, half red from your pinch and half red from a bright blush.
"You guys are so dumb," Katsuki mumbled, resting his head on his hand and leaning into the arm of the couch.
"Ugh I'm so bored this is so lameeee-" Mina said coming over to join your group wearing an alluring angel costume. "I wanna do something!" She said kicking her feet a bit.
"Oh uh-" Eijiro started to say but then stopped and looked away from Mina.
"Spit it out," You said, nudging him. Everyone's attention now turned to Eijiro making him more flustered.
"Nothing I- uh- was just gonna say that's a nice costume Ashido," he said and looked away again hoping the attention would turn away from him.
"Thanks!" Mina replied, smiling up at him. "Now what should we do? Tsuyu and Uraraka are carving pumpkins, but I want to do something more exciting!" She said, pumping both fists into the air.
"I know what you can do," a familiar pervy voice called from behind. The group turned around to see Minoru who was wearing a twister mat as a costume. "You girls should play twister and use me as your game board," Minoru said, lying down on the floor and spreading his arms out.
"He's never going to stop is he?" Hanta asked, letting out a sigh.
"Oh- that's actually a great idea Mineta!" You said walking over to him as he looked up at you from the floor. "Close your eyes though, ok? I don't want you to see up my dress," You said.
"Of course, my witch queen," Minoru responded, practically drooling. He shut his eyes tightly for a moment and you motioned for Katsuki to come over.
"Hu?" Minoru opened his eyes after not feeling you or Mina start the game. He opened his eyes to the sight of Katsuki above him lighting up an explosion in his hand. "Wait wait!" He called his arms failing in front of him as Katuski exploded him knocking him unconscious.
"Fucking perv," He grumbled and sat back on the couch.
"As much as I hate Mineta, a game isn't such a bad idea!" Mina said excitedly.
"What kind of game?" Eijiro asked.
"Hmmm..." Mina placed her finger on her chin as she thought. "I got it! Spin the bottle!" She yelled, throwing her hands in the air again. Everyone else including you just stared at her with a blank expression and slightly flushed faces.
"Fuck no." Katsuki spoke.
"Come on you guys! We can't go out and do anything else and that game is like a right of passage for teenagers! Let's do it! I'll find some other girls to even it out!" She said and ran off.
"Wait, she was serious?!" Denki asked, his face pale white.
You laughed, "You looked whiter than the sheet around Sero! Don't tell me after all that big pervy talk you've done with Mineta you're scared?" You teased him.
"I'm not scared! I just-" Denki began to say but was interrupted by an irritated Katsuki.
"I'm leaving, I'm not doing that dumb shit," Katsuki said, getting off the couch to leave. Eijiro quickly hurried after him. You turned around to see what looked like Eijiro pleading with his friend to stay.
"Maybe Kacchan's right, we could go play Super Smash Bros instead," Denki said to Hanta who seemed to be on board with leaving as well. Denki stood up just as Mina came back.
"Ok! I got Jiro and Hagakure to agree to play!" Mina said excitedly. Denki looked at Kyoka who was wearing a Bride of Frankenstein costume. His face flushed and he silently sat back down on the couch deciding to stay.
"Hey Hagakure, what is your costume?" Hanta asked, looking confused at Hagakure who was just carrying around a mirror and wearing a red cape.
"I'm a vampire and vampires don't have reflections in mirrors so... I thought that was funny with my quirk and all... since I'm invisible..."
"Oh! That's really smart." Hanta laughed.
Eijiro finally came back dragging Katsuki who was uttering curses under his breath.
"That's the spirit boys!" You said laughing.
Mina instructed the group to sit on the floor in a circle as she placed a bottle in the middle of you all.
"Ok there are a lot of different ways to play but this is what I think sounds most interesting. One person spins the bottle, and then whoever the bottle is pointing to gets to decide what happens. Any questions?" She asked.
"Yeah, what do you mean by deciding what happens?" Kyoka asked.
"Well that person can decide on either a kiss which can be wherever they choose or seven minutes in heaven," Mina explained further.
"Uh, what's seven minutes in heaven?" Toru asked nervously.
"It means I'll lock you both in the hall closet for seven minutes!" Mina said, laughing devilishly.
The group shifted uncomfortably at Mina's explanation of the game.
"Oh don't look so nervous you guys, it'll be fun! Sero start us out!" Mina said excitedly.
"What? Why me first?!" Hanta asked anxiously.
"Because I said so, that's why, now go!" Mina said harshly.
Sero shakily spun the bottle that was placed in the middle of the group. Everyone watched with eager eyes as it began to slow until it eventually stopped pointing at Toru. Once the bottle stopped everyone looked at Mina for guidance.
"Ok now Hagakure you decide what happens," Mina encouraged.
"You can kiss my cheek, Sero," Toru said sweetly.
"Uh right-" Hanta replied as he shakily moved over to Toru planting a kiss on what he assumed to be the invisible girl's cheek.
The group watched as Hanta's face lit up bright red.
"Oh!" Toru exclaimed. "That was not my cheek."
"I AM SO SORRY! I COULDN'T SEE!" Hanta apologized frantically.
"It's ok Sero," Toru giggled.
The rest of the group eyed each other curiously but were too shy to ask what exactly Hanta ended up kissing.
"Ok um- well.... it landed on you so that means your turn to spin Hagakure," Mina said, breaking up the awkwardness.
"Sure!" She said and the bottle began to spin seemingly out of nowhere as the invisible girl spun the bottle. The bottle spun until it landed on Mina.
"Oh um- is there a rule about that?" Toru asked.
"Hm- nah we're all-inclusive here," Mina shrugged. "You can kiss my cheek too if you're comfortable."
"Ok," Toru said as her cape, which appeared to be floating, moved toward Mina before returning to its original spot as she planted a kiss on her cheek.
"My turn then!" Mina said excitedly and spun the bottle. The bottle spun for a few moments before landing on Eijiro.
Eijiro's eyes widened at the bottle pointing directly at him. He was seemingly frozen staring at it.
"Um hello Earth to Kirishima," Mina said, waving her hand in front of his face. "You have to choose what you want."
"Me? I uh-" He stuttered as his face began to tint a slight pink. "What- what- do you want me to choose?" He asked.
"It doesn't work like that Kirishima, you have to choose," You said, reminding him of the rules.
"Oh man," He spoke seeming to shrink into himself with nervousness. Eijiro grabbed the shark hoodie of his onesie and covered his face with it.
Mina laughed, "Don't be so nervous Kirishima, just tell me what you want me to do." She encouraged him.
Eijiro mumbled from under his hoodie.
"Speak up shitty hair, we can't hear you," Katsuki yelled, annoyed at his friend's sheepishness.
"Ugh this is so unmanly," He mumbled again from under his hoodie.
"Come on man hurry up!" Denki said, nudging him.
"Just kiss me!" Eijiro said, voice loud and shaky under his hoodie.
"Ok, where though?" Mina asked, tilting her head and moving closer trying to get a look at him from under his hoodie. Eijiro squirmed more under his hoodie the closer Mina got.
"For fucks sake just tell her you want a real kiss dumb ass!" Katsuki grumbled beside his friend.
"Is that what you want?" Mina asked curiously.
Eijiro nodded his head from under his hoodie as a response.
"Then stop hiding silly," She said, pulling his hoodie back on his head as she moved closer and planted a gentle kiss on his lips, causing Eijiro's face to light up an even brighter red than his hair.
"Tch-" Katsuki let out an annoyed puff of air.
"Oh man, your face is so damn red!" Denki said laughing beside him.
"Aw come on man, leave me alone," Eijiro said, pulling his hoodie back over his face to hide from his friends.
"Don't hide yet, it's your turn!" Mina said giggling.
"Oh right-," Eijiro quickly stuck his hand out and spun the bottle.
You all watched as the bottle stopped spinning and landed on you.
"Uh-" Eijiro quickly stole a glance at Katsuki who looked away from the group feigning disinterest.
"Here," You laughed, holding out your hand.
"Oh uh- so formal," Eijiro laughed, feeling less nervous as he placed a kiss on the top of your hand.
"Alright, then my turn right?" You asked looking at Mina for confirmation.
"Yup!" She said, nodding enthusiastically. You spun the bottle and waited for it to stop spinning. The whole group's breath seemed to catch in their throat when it landed on Katsuki. Everyone stared at him with wide eyes waiting for his response.
"Tch- whatever let's go," Katsuki said, standing up and motioning for you to follow him.
"What?" You asked confused.
"Wait, you're choosing the closet?!" Mina asked, stunned.
"Yeah, let's just get this over with," He said, annoyed.
"Wooo! Our first seven minutes in heaven players!" Mina said excitedly, pumping her fists in the air. She quickly made her way to the hall closet, opened it, and motioned for you both to come.
"Hurry up now! I'll start a timer on my phone and we will all wait here for you both," She said, winking and shoving you both inside.
"Wait what you all just wait out there?" You asked nervously.
"Well yeah, we can't keep playing with you two missing. Have fun now," She said as she slammed the closet door shut.
The closet was pitch black with the door shut, and smaller than you anticipated, causing you to be just inches away from Katsuki.
Katsuki lit up the room with his quirk using his hand to create some light without an explosion.
"So you wanted to spend some alone time with me, hu?" You asked, teasing him.
"Shut the hell up, I just didn't want to do anything else in front of those other extras. This shit is so dumb and I don't want the attention," he replied back sounding frustrated as ever.
"Then why did you choose to play?" You asked curiously.
"For Kirishima obviously. He wanted to play and was too damn scared to do it without me here," Katsuki said as if it was the most obvious explanation in the world.
"You really expect me to believe that? You never do anything you don't want to do. Especially for the sake of someone else. So tell me, what did you want to happen? Who were you hoping to get stuck with?" You pestered him more.
"Fucking no one. You think I actually care about any of these damn extras," Katsuki laughed off your question.
You ignored his response and looked at his hand curiously as it illuminated light without an explosion. "I didn't know you could do this with your quirk. Is it warm?" You asked, touching his hand.
"I can do a lot of shit with my quirk dumb ass," He responded as he watched you graze his hand with your finger.
You looked up and noticed a slight tint on his cheeks. "No way are you blushing?" You laughed.
"The hell? I am not!" He yelled defensively but extinguished the light from his hand right away bringing you both back into darkness so you couldn't look at him anymore. "I'm not some fucking loser you know. I wouldn't blush from you just touching my hand."
You leaned a bit closer to him, almost brushing up against him as you did, "What would I need to touch to make you blush then?" You whispered.
Katsuki tried to back away from you but hit the wall of the closet instead, "Cut that fucking crap out," He said through gritted teeth and smacked your hand away from him. "Why the hell did you play this game? What did you want to happen?" He asked.
"This," you answered simply and honestly.
"Hu?" Katsuki exclaimed, sounding surprised.
"Why do you sound so surprised?" You asked.
"You don't have to fucking lie just because we're stuck in here you know. I saw you flirting with spark plug out there. Pinching his cheeks and shit," Katuski answered, still not believing you.
"Kaminari? No," You laughed. "I only mess with him because he gets riled up so easily, plus... I like how it pisses you off. Do you think I didn't notice how you grit your teeth and furrow your brows even more than usual when I do," You teased.
"Tch, whatever. If I'm really what you wanted- then get over here. Prove it. Do what you say you've been wanting to do," Katsuki said, challenging you.
You moved almost instantly, pressing yourself into Katsuki and colliding your lips with his. Your hands went up to wrap around the back of his neck and as they did. Katsuki's body went rigid for a moment, stunned that you actually attacked him so suddenly. Then as if coming back to life after processing the situation, he pushed you back against the wall roughly pinning you between his arms. Causing a loud thump to echo through the closet.
"You didn't think I'd really just let you have control that easily did you?" He whispered in a lowered voice, his words rumbling in his chest.
Everyone outside turned and looked at the closet following the loud thump.
"Should we be concerned?" Kyoka asked, looking around the group for consensus.
"Nah," Denki, Eijiro, and Hanta all said in unison. The girls eyed them curiously.
"It's just uh- Bakugo wouldn't hurt her or anything. Trust me," Eijiro said, his face tinting red a bit again as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"Hm ok- well they do only have 3 minutes left so... I suppose it's fine," Mina said, eyeing her phone.
Back in the closet, Katsuki had pressed his lips to yours forcefully as you were pinned between him and the wall. You pulled him even closer to you.
"You like when I press into you like this?" He asked in your ear breath running down your neck.
You nodded, and Katsuki responded by grabbing your leg and wrapping it around his waist in order to press into you deeper while keeping his hand around your thigh for support. In this position, you could feel his growing bulge pressing into you.
"You know you're right," He spoke again into your ear. "It does fucking piss me off when you flirt with dunce face. Don't even fucking look at him anymore," he said and ran his other hand through your hair grazing your scalp as he tugged on your hair. "Keep your eyes on me, you understand?"
You nodded again but this time grabbed his face and pressed a deep kiss into his lips spreading them apart with your tongue.
"Fuck," he moaned into your mouth.
Katsuki's hand moved down from your hair to your chest grabbing a handful of you.
"The hell is with this skimpy ass witch costume, it's sluttier than your damn hero costume," He groaned and moved down to trail kisses on your neck while continuing to press his now full-grown bulge into you.
"What? You don't like it?" You asked teasingly.
"Mm- fuckin' love it," He growled while kissing further down your neck making his way to your chest ensuring to taste all of your exposed skin.
"Alright times up," Mina yelled, throwing the closet door open without warning.
"Oh shit!" You exclaimed, placing your hands on Katsuki's shoulders to push him off but he didn't budge.
"Holy shit-" Denki exclaimed before being at a total loss of words.
Everyone stared with wide eyes frozen at the sight.
Mina slammed the door back shut.
"Uh- maybe we leave them with their privacy," She said, her face flushed. "Let's just- um go back to the game," she stuttered.
"Yeah good idea," Eijiro nodded, as everyone awkwardly made their way back to sitting in a circle.

The sound of Tony clapping reverberates throughout the room. “Alright, speedo, what’s the decision?” You look up from the tech deck you were playing with, “What? Uh, dismissed! Meeting over!” Wanda clenches her eyes shut and pinches the bridge of her nose. “Did you hear anything we said, you dolt?” You ignore her, continuing to poorly attempt tricks on your tech deck. “Hey! I was using that.” You look up at Wanda, who is currently holding your toy.
“Did you seriously bring a fucking mini skateboard to a meeting?” She spins the toy around in her hand, analyzing it.
“Okay, first of all, it's a tech deck, and second of all I didn’t bring it with me, it’s just always in my pocket.”
“Tony, can you just send her to prison already?”
“Fuck you, witch- What the hell!” You duck before your toy could hit you in the face, looking towards Wanda, who now had a smirk on her face.
“Enough!” Steve chimes in, “Wanda, seriously? You’re better than this, and you," He directs his glare at you, "Make a choice before we make one for you.”
Sighing, you pretend to be in thought, stretching out the moment as long as possible before answering. “Yeah sure, I’ll join. If only to piss witchy off.” Wanda rolls her eyes and stomps away. You turn towards Steve, “Teenagers, amiright?” Tony huffs out a laugh while Steve stands up and leaves, muttering, “You’re younger than her for fucks sake.”

You were sat outside your university, an angry Wanda with her hands crossed stood in front of you, tapping her foot angrily. You felt like an insolent child. In hindsight, leaving the compound without telling anyone wasn’t the wisest thing you could’ve done, but you had to get your stuff from your dorm!
“Can I go in now or am I gonna have to keep watching you stand there looking constipated-”
“Idiot! Why wouldn’t you at least leave a note?”
“I’m sorry! I didn’t think you’d have a bitch fit over it.”
Wanda mutters what you assume to be a prayer under her breath in her native language before pulling you up by your jacket and dragging you into the university and towards your dorm. “It hasn’t even been your first day yet and you’re already causing trouble.” She mutters as she watches you pack up your stuff, noting that you packed your teddy bear first. You duck and look beneath your bed.
“Pss, pss.”
“What are you doing- Oh my god.”
Wanda’s eyes widen as a little black cat appears from underneath your bed. You pick the little feline up and turn towards Wanda, “Never seen a cat before? I expected more from you as a witch.” Wanda rolls her eyes, “I’ve seen a cat before- thats not even what I’m shocked about! How do you keep him here?” You shrug and hand her the cat, turning to pack the rest of your things.
Finishing up, you look towards Wanda holding your cat at a distance. “Why are you holding him like that? He doesn’t have rabies or anything,” You move past Wanda, “I think.”
“What!” You run away cackling, looking back and finding Wanda attempting to chase after you with the cat in her arms.

You still hadn’t gotten your own room, so placing all your things in Wanda’s room was your only option. Surprisingly, she hadn’t minded much since it was just a suitcase and a backpack. Wanda left to do god knows what after making sure you weren't stealing anything. 
You're sitting at her desk, staring at your laptop screen with your cat purring on your lap. You had so many assignments. You’re basically an avenger now, kind of, and you’re still worried about school work. You giggle at the thought.
“I can’t imagine your homework is entertaining enough to make you laugh like that.” You look up to see a silver haired man, who you now know as Pietro, standing at your, well Wanda’s, door.
“No, calculating ‘water potential’ is nothing to laugh about. It’s just crazy. I'm a superhero worrying about homework,” Pietro pulls up a chair next to you. “Well, you’re not a superhero just yet. Anyways, Peter’s the same and he’s doing fine. I think.” You raise an eyebrow at him.
“There’s someone here that’s not old enough to have seen David fight Goliath?”
“What?”
“Nothing, where’s Wanda she would’ve gotten that reference.” You mutter, turning back towards your laptop.
After petting your cat, Pietro lets out a breath and stands up, stopping at your door. “Well, good luck. Also, cool it with the douchiness with Wanda, yeah?” You swivel your chair towards him, “No promises.” Pietro sighs, lightly smacking the door frame, “You start training tomorrow, so don’t stay up too late.”

You land on your back for the hundredth time this morning. “I told you to go easy!” You groan, pushing yourself up off the mat. “I never said yes to that,” Natasha readjusts her stance, not even a drop of sweat on her, “You won’t always be able to rely on your speed, if you’re forced to fight you’d probably die.” You gasp in offense, “She’s right, you need it.” Wanda chimed in, tying her hair up and setting up the treadmill.
You look at both of them, “What’s that supposed to mean!” You adjust your stance, “Come on, come at me-”
You were on the floor before you could even process Natasha approaching you. She had you in a headlock that you couldn’t escape, but you were too stubborn to tap out. Wanda had been watching you, intending to poke fun at your inevitable failure, but when she catches sight of you going limp, she rushes forward and pushes Natasha off you. “I h-had her,” You push out in between coughs. Natasha stands up and sighs, “That’s enough for today, go get cleaned up.”
You were still panting on the floor when you felt someone slapping your back. “It gets easier. As cool and powerful as my abilities are, I’d be useless in a fist fight if not for this training..” You hear Wanda admit from above you. “Yeah well, I can bite really hard.” Wanda laughs and helps you up, “I’m sure you can, but you’re also scrawny, and short. You’re basically just an aggressive kitten.” She pretends not to notice you blushing at the description.
“I’m wily! I could slither and fit anywhere. I’d make a good spy.” She pats you on the back. “Sure, kitten. Go shower, you stink.” You roll your eyes and walk away, still panting.
Exiting the gym, you hear footsteps quickly approaching you. Taking a deep breath, you wait for them to get close enough, then turn and punch them in the nose. You look down and see a boy around your age, clutching his nose and groaning. “Shit! Sorry, I’m not used to the security of this place.” You extend a hand to him. He looks at it for a moment before taking it and pulling himself up. “No biggie.” He replies, a boyish grin on his face.
Your eyes light up in recognition, “No. Way. Parker!” He looked confused before realizing who you were. You had been the first person Peter told about his late-night activities after you found his suit when you were snooping around his room. His grin widens, pulling you into a bear hug, your feet dangling as you hug him back. The moment is interrupted as Wanda exits the gym, and Peter places you back on the ground, “Uh, What’s going on here?” She raises an eyebrow at how close you and Peter were standing.
You jump up and down excitedly, “Me and Peter were best friends in high school,” You turn towards him, “But I hadn’t recognized him, you’re so big now!” Peter blushes when you caress his bicep, you miss the twitch in Wanda’s eye. Rolling her eyes, Wanda walks away and shoulder bumps you, but you pay her no mind.
“So, you still have that Lego Star Wars set?”

“Okay, so Tony leaves his lab at three on the dot to have lunch with Pepper, he’ll be gone for about 30 minutes so you have a bit of time.” You and Peter had been sitting on the floor of the living room building Star Wars monuments when you heard Tony talking to Natasha about a new gadget he was working on, and that he had a prototype ready in his lab. So, you badgered him for information. 
His refusal to tell you anything about it made you insatiably curious, so you recruited Peter, and are now planning a heist in Wanda’s room while she’s out. “Yeah, alright. What about Steve, though? Won’t he be doing rounds or something.” You turn to Peter who was casually dragging a string along, playing with your cat. “I guess I could distract him. He’s smart though, so I can’t drag it out too long.” You nod, getting up. “This plan is perfect.”
It was, in fact, not perfect. You failed to remember who would be walking back from the gym at the same time Tony left. “Hey Steve, you’re being punked. Found this little guy sprinting out of Tony’s lab with,” He lifts a piece of metal up, “Whatever this is.” You were dangling in the air, Pietro holding you up by the back of your shirt collar, not unlike a mother cat holding her kitten. “I told you, Tony asked me to get it for him!” You defend while Pietro adjusts his hold on you. Steve pinches the bridge of his nose, giving Peter a disappointed look. You jump in before he could start his lecture, “He had nothing to do with this, I promise. It was just me.” Peter sputters in shock, smiling at you gratefully before turning and running away.
Pietro lets go of your collar without warning and you groan as you land on your face. He whispers ‘good luck’ and follows Peter out. Steve watches you with arms crossed as you push yourself up off the ground and look anywhere but him. “Look, I get it. You’re just a kid, but this job is serious. We can’t have you messing around…” You zone out for the rest of the lecture.

Wanda had returned home an hour ago, ignoring Steve’s yelling. She figured a security guard messed up or something. However, when she looks up to the sound of her door opening and catches sight of you stomping in angrily, your cat following behind you, she connects the dots. “Who shat in your coffee?” You look towards Wanda in confusion, “What? I don’t even drink coffee.” Wanda sets her book down on the couch and walks towards where you were sitting at her desk. “That’s not what I meant, idiot. What’s got you so down?”
Getting caught wasn’t something that happened often. Usually, you were able to sprint away and forget about your douchebag activities, so you weren’t used to being yelled at. Wanda raises an eyebrow. Your thoughts were so loud, and she was shocked to see you so affected by getting yelled at. “It’s nothing, whatever. Can you fuck off? I have a lab report due.” Lab report? Wanda honestly thought you were a business major. She had never expected you to be into science, or school in general. A knock on the door catches you and Wanda’s attention. “Hey- oh Wanda. Hi. Anyways, thanks for covering for me, aunt May would’ve killed me. So, I have a little thank you present.” Peter enters and closes the door behind him, pulling out a bottle. Wanda’s eyes bulge out of her head. She could barely buy cigarettes at your age, let alone vodka. You stand up, ignoring your responsibilities, and bounce around in glee. “Ahh! Thank you, Peter.” You give him a big smooch on the cheek, Wanda rolls her eyes at his blush.
You drag your friend to the couch and take the bottle from his arms. “Come on witchy, join us!” Wanda sighs, she might as well. Wanda awkwardly stands in front of you and Peter, the couch was too small to fit all of you. An idea pops into your head. Standing up you push Wanda to sit on the couch, and place yourself on her lap. “Come on, why so tense, Avril Lavigne?” You take Wanda’s arms and wrap them around your waist. 
She glares at Peter when he giggles at the blush on her face. Peter takes the bottle from you and pops it open, taking out shot glasses from his backpack to pour into, handing them to you and Wanda. You’re asking Peter about college when you hear the door being pushed open. You and Peter look at each other in panic, while Wanda is suspiciously calm. 
Before you can hide the bottle, Pietro walks in. At his angry expression, apologies begin to spill out of Peter's mouth before Pietro breaks out laughing. “Calm down, Spidey. Wanda texted me to join.” Peter lets out a breath of relief as Pietro closes the door behind him, sitting down on the floor and pouring himself a shot. "Toast!"  You laugh at Peter's serious expression as he dings the bottle, “To new beginnings! And to the 4 coolest people in the team.” 
You all clink your glasses, laughing as you take your shots.

The woven basket you carried was slowly getting heavier as you trudged along the hidden trail that led you deeper into the woods, the soft crunch of the leaves a delightful sound which rang again and again with each step you took. Above, there was the loud staccato of a woodpecker looking for its next meal, and ravens soared overhead as they returned to their nest before sundown.
The red and orange foliage was mesmerizing, something you always looked forward to in the autumnal months of the year. It also signaled the beginnings of cooler weather, after the dreadful heat that summer brought upon the land. You hummed to yourself, singing melodic tunes that you’d heard since you were young – lullabies which would silence the cries of any newborn child. 
As you continued your way into the forest, you stopped to collect herbs and vegetation you found on the trail – finding mushrooms and gourds growing wild near trees, as well as the occasional set of animal bones left behind by some predator. It may have weighed down your basket even more, but the look on your girlfriend’s face would be worth it after a day away from the cabin you two lived in together.
Your eyes eventually caught a plume of smoke rising above the trees, as a small oak wood cabin appeared within the forest, surrounded by shrubs and flowers. You walked up the mossy stone pathway that led to the entrance, the door opening for you without having to knock, sensing your familiar energy as you walked closer.
The soft crackling of the fireplace was soothing as you walked inside and placed your basket on the wooden table – organizing the items you’d picked up both from the forest floor as well as the farmer’s market in the nearby village – where you’d purchased foods for the upcoming week. You brought the foodstuffs into your shared kitchen, putting them away into their proper places before gathering the remaining items and carrying them upstairs, the soft creak of each step you took giving away the age in which the cabin was built.
You knocked on the door that led to your girlfriend’s bedroom, hearing a soft “come in” before entering. She was, as usual, at her desk – looking through what seemed to be a spell book with unbroken focus.
Her room was enchanting, her shelves lined with books about herbology and magick, as well as jars filled with various ingredients that she’d use for potion making. Her black cat was sitting on the comforter of her bed, eyes watching you as you walked over to her desk.
“I’m back, ‘Nobu,” you gave her a quick kiss on her cheek before placing your basket on her desk, “I brought you some ingredients, I hope they’ll be of some use to you!”
She turned to you, a faint smile on her lips as she peered through what the basket contained, taking out various herbs and anything else you gathered for her on your walk home.
“Thank you, love, I appreciate this,” she spoke softly, “I’m sure I’ll find good use for them.”
You grinned and sat down on her bed, her cat walking over to you before sitting in your lap, allowing you to pet it. A comfortable silence ensued, you watching her study whatever spell she was working on, with nothing but the faint sounds of the fireplace from the living room and the soft purrs from the cat in your lap filling the air.
“I saw Sanemi flirting with your sister the other day,” you mused, watching the way her shoulders tensed, “he was so awkward with the whole thing, it was hilarious to watch honestly.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to hex him so he won’t be able to shit for the next week,” she responded, and you giggled. Shinobu was always protective of her older sister, which you admired, but you found it slightly amusing what lengths she’d sometimes go to display such protection.
“I’m sure he’ll appreciate you for that, ‘Nobu,” you smiled, and she continued her reading.
“I wanted to ask you about something, love,” she paused, “unrelated to Shinazugawa’s poor flirting skills.”
You laughed, “I’m listening.”
“However, I’d like for you to tell me if you trust me first,” she said.
You looked at her, briefly stopping the soft pets you were giving her cat, “of course I trust you, Shinobu,” you said seriously, “you’ve never given me a reason not to. I trust you fully.”
You could see some of the tension melt from her shoulders, relief seemingly filling her veins as she turned to you, her violet eyes searching yours.
“I’ve come up with a new potion,” she started.
“Really? What properties does it have?” you asked, and a faint smile appeared on her face.
“That’s what I wanted to talk to you about. I incorporated ingredients that are initially used for love potions, such as rosewater, rose petals, and cinnamon, however, I got curious and added some other ingredients to it as well.”
“Like what?” you asked curiously.
“Shatavari, maca root – both of which I ground into a powder, as well as damiana…which, if you’ve listened to my ramblings or have gone through my herbology books, you’d know that these are–”
“Aphrodisiacs,” you finished for her, your interest peaked, “and you created a potion out of these ingredients?”
“Yes,” Shinobu answered, “from what I could tell given the results of it, it’s a very potent lust potion, and I was wondering–”
“Do you want to drink it together?” you blurted out, slightly flushed from both the idea as well as the obvious eagerness in your tone.
She hesitated, “only if you’re completely fine with it, I know this is something new for both of us, so I just wanted to make sure–”
“Yes, when can we start?”
A slight smirk appeared on her face, before getting up from her desk and walking towards one of her shelves and pulling out two jars with a pink-tinted liquid inside them. She handed one of them to you, and turned her back for just a second to sit down on her bed.
“Honestly, one sip should be enough to cause the desired effects, so just–” she paused, eyes widening and mouth agape as she realized you’d already downed half of the entire jar.
You looked at her, fear in your eyes, “um…it’s not gonna kill me, right?” 
She shook her head, “no, but…oh fuck it,” she exclaimed, before downing nearly half of it herself. 
An awkward silence ensued, both of you waiting for the other to start exhibiting symptoms.
“Uh…’Nobu, I love you, but…are you sure this is gonna work?” you asked, and she rolled her eyes.
“Yes, I’m certain it should work. I highly doubt that any of the ingredients would cancel each other out.”
“Okay, well…I hope I didn’t just drink that gross liquid for nothin—oh fuck–!” you jolted, careening over as you went to hug yourself, a searing hot sensation bubbled deep within your gut. Startled by your sudden movement, Shinobu’s cat crawled out of your grasp and left the room. "You're a talking cat," Roier breathes. "What the fuck?"
"What, you were expecting the witch?"
A pause.
Then:
"Oh, come on!"
Roier finally collects himself, brushing the water off of his cloak and adjusting his hood and picking up his lantern.
The cat stands and starts pacing the stump in a small, annoyed circle.
"The witch isn't even real," it complains. "She never was! Witches aren't real!"
Roier frowns. "Fuck you, man, my best friend is a witch."
"They aren't. Witches aren't real. Magicians are real, but witches-"
"You are literally a talking cat."
"I am a faerie," the cat corrects, sounding almost pained as it does so. "Faeries are real. Witches are fake. It's all anti-faerie propaganda created by the Federation-"
"By the what?"
The cat flicks his tail at Roier; Roier's mouth shuts, and, to his alarm, he finds that he can't open it again no matter how hard he tries.

Roier's eyes widen.

Then, he says, "I know Cucurucho. I'm supposed to marry him in three days."

"That's why I'm here," Roier explains. "I need the witch to kill me so I don't have to marry him."
The cat sits.
"I see," it says. "Unfortunately, the witch isn't real."

The cat stares at Roier's fingers. "Um. No. Faeries can't kill."
Roier deflates. "Ugh."
With a frustrated groan, he sits on the stump next to the cat. The cat grumbles, but it doesn't, like, magic him onto the ground, so that's kinda nice of it.
"But," the cat says, slowly as if questioning itself as it speaks, "I can get you to kill for me."
Oh. Now there's a thought. But...
Roier looks to the side at the cat. "I've tried. I'm pretty sure he's immortal, man."
"You haven't tried killing him with faerie magic. Now, come here."
The cat hops off of the stump and pads into the forest. After a moment, Roier follows.
They walk until they reach a hollowed-out tree. Then, the cat hops into the tree and mutters to itself as it looks for something.
Eventually, the cat pokes its head out of the tree with an opaque brown bottle held in its mouth.
Roier takes the bottle and turns it over in his hands.
"This," the cat says, "is extract of unicorn. Mix this in with Cucurucho's food, and he'll be dead by the end of the night."
Roier's mouth twitches. It'll happen, just like that? Just like that? Decades of oppression over just. Like. That?
"Okaaayyy," Roier drawls. He looks back up at the cat with a small smile. "Thank you."
The cat responds by clambering out of the tree and lounging on a branch hanging by Roier's face.
"No, thank you," the cat insists. "You'll be doing us both a favor if you manage to kill that asshole."
"If this kills him, you'll be a hero."
"Oh, I'm no hero. I'm just..." (The cat grins with far too many teeth in its mouth.) "...an invested party."
Well, the cat is probably evil. But that's fine. So is Cucurucho, and two wrongs make a right, right?

Well, wrong! Because Cucurucho isn't fucking dead.
Roier stomps back to the tree stump with the faerie's empty unicorn piss whatever bottle in hand. He doesn't have a lantern this time because, frankly, he really isn't intent on returning to the castle this time. If he trips over a root and dies, so be it!
The cat is nowhere to be seen. Of course, the bastard.
"Gatinho!" Roier calls. He cups both hands around his mouth and spins in a circle and continues shouting, "Gatinho! Where the fuck are you! Come here!"
No response.
Frustrated, Roier chucks the bottle to the ground and plops onto the stump. He puts his head in his hands and groans.
"I am going to fucking die," he moans. "I can't go home, I need to die, what the fuck."
A twig snaps. A presence ghosts over his shoulder, what feels like fingers grazing his tunic. But, when he snaps his head up and turns around, all he sees is the cat sitting behind him.
Roier's eyes narrow. "You."
"Me," the cat agrees. "Did it work? Is he dead? Please tell me he's dead. He's dead, right?"
"No! He isn't! He thought that unicorn shit was edible glitter! Now he wants it at the wedding!"
The cat blinks. "Huh."
"Yeah, 'huh'." Roier huffs and turns back around and hides his face again. "Fuck you, man. You said it would kill him."
"It should've. He's a demon, right?"
"How should I know? He's a fucking bear wizard thing."
"Okay, again, wizards aren't real, magicians are. But you're marrying him, right? How do you not know what species he is?"
"It's not like I'm getting a choice in the matter," Roier spits. He glares into the palms of his hands, shoulders shaking with barely-concealed rage. "Either I marry him or he destroys the kingdom."
There's a pregnant pause as the cat takes this information in. Fair, honestly. Roier hadn't exactly told him that he's a prince. Wasn't important, still isn't important. Doesn't matter if he's a prince if he's being sold off to marry a goddamn bear like he's a common animal.
It's for the good of the kingdom, Foolish had said. He and Vegetta have always liked Cucurucho despite Cucurucho being a legendary fucking creep. It's either you or Leo.
And Roier isn't the one that's meant to take the throne after his parents die.
"Can't you just kill me?" Roier asks. He waves a hand in a random direction. "Just make a tree fall on me or something. It'll be an accident, it's fine, your faerie cops won't know."
"Um, no," the cat says. "That's fucked up."
"Don't you eat people? How the fuck do you eat people without killing them?"
"Who says I killed them before eating them?"
Ah. Sounds about right.
...Kinda cool, to be honest. Imagining a tiny little kitty cat rip a grown dude apart like he's a slice of bread. Almost funny in a way.
Roier jumps as something brushes the hair out of his face.
He jerks his head upright and glares down at the cat, now sitting delicately in front of him.
"I have an idea," the cat tells him. "Follow me."
As they walk back to the hollow tree, the cat asks, "Does Cucurucho still have that freaky mechanical sword?"
Roier thinks. "Maybe? I don't know, he kinda just sits and stares at people. Sometimes he chases the servants around with a sword? Dunno if it's mechanical, though..."
"Well, any sword will work. Hold on."
The cat leaps into the tree and comes out with a new bottle, this one clear.
Roier takes the bottle and swishes it around. The liquid inside looks like oil, okay...
"This is dragon's blood," the cat explains. "It's corrosive to the touch, so be careful. Tell him that it's a special polish for his sword. It should eat his skin to the bone and kill him dead."
"Huh," Roier says, suddenly much more careful with the bottle. He gently slides it into his pocket, makes sure it's secure between a bag of coins and his headband. "Okay. Cool."
"This should work," the cat says. "But I'll try and think of something else for if it doesn't."
"Yeah, well, it'd better work," Roier huffs. "I'm getting married in two days. Then the gods only know what he's gonna do with me."
"Trust me, we'll figure it out."
"Trust you? Aren't you some kind of evil faerie cat?"
The cat looks offended. "Excuse you, I'm barely evil anymore. All I do is read these days. Do you know how many books I have at my house? More than Cucurucho, that's for sure."
"You have a house?"
The cat visibly bristles. "Of course I have a house. What, do you think I'm homeless?"

Oh, that's interesting. Roier can almost imagine what the cat looks like in a human form, but the idea escapes him at the last second.
"Whatever," Roier sighs. "Just kill me tomorrow if this doesn't work."

Roier doesn't even bother shouting as he storms up to the stump.
He sits, pulls his cloak off, tosses it to his feet, kicks it away. What the fuck!!
He doesn't so much as blink as the cat appears by his side.
"It didn't work?" the cat cries. "Really? That should've worked!"
"Yeah, well, it didn't," Roier huffs. "He wore gloves today. And Cucurucho figured out that I've been sneaking out to see someone at night, so he told my parents that we're going to move to a different castle out in the middle of nowhere. I bet he's going to lock me up, the piece of shit."
The cat's ears lay back on its head. Its eyes narrow, and its lip curls back in a clear snarl.
"I know," Roier agrees. "Fuck this guy for real."
"Fuck him."
"Fuck him!"
Roier smiles just for a second, and he even manages a brief laugh before remembering, right. He's fucking doomed. Right.
Sighing, he slumps to the side until he's tumbling off of the stump and splayed across the ground. He buries his face in the grass and screams.
To his credit, he hardly jumps as a hand firmly settles on his back and rubs it. Small circles, firm hand, big hand, it feels like, wow.
Something- a knee?- presses against Roier's arm firmly. It's grounding in a way. Almost.
"I'm getting married tomorrow," Roier whines. "Just kill me, gatinho. I promise I won't tell anyone."
"I'm not going to kill you, guapito," the cat says. (Roier blushes. Guapito...) Its voice sounds deeper, almost. Louder. More clear. "I can't."
"Then what am I supposed to do? Marry Cucurucho?"
"I won't let that happen."
"Why? Because you want to kill him? Because that hasn't exactly been working so far."
"Because it's super fucked up that he's forcing you to marry him. I don't give a shit about the kingdom, I don't live there. I want him dead, but I'm starting to think that he's unkillable."
The hand moves from Roier's back up to his head. Fingers sift through his hair. Woooow, that feels good. When's the last time Roier got touched this softly? Before Cucurucho arrived?
"I've been thinking," the cat continues. "I've been keeping an eye on Cucurucho for centuries, but he's never tried destroying the kingdom before now. Before you. I think that, if you're gone, then he might leave, too."
Roier cracks an eye open. He doesn't shift his head at all, so he can only just barely make out a hint of cloth. So the cat has clothes when he's a human, that's cool, Roier guesses. Makes him wonder where they came from.
"So... kill me," Roier tells him. "If it'll get him to leave the kingdom alone, kill me."
"I can't do that."
"I'm not next in line for the throne! It's fine! Just push me into the river, I can't swim."
"You can't swim? Really?"
"Well, I can, but I can pretend that I can't!"
"You are so... selfless," the cat says, sounding completely exasperated. "And stupid. No, come with me. I know how we can solve this without killing you."
The hand leaves Roier's head, and then a cold nose is poking at his cheek until he's sitting up and looking the cat right in its little kitty eyes.
"Do you still have cat eyes when you're in another form?" Roier can't help but ask. "That would be really cool."
The cat chuckles. "Maybe. Come on. I have one last thing we can try."
They go to the hollow tree, and Roier waits as the cat scrambles into the tree and surfaces with a necklace clutched in its teeth.
Roier takes the necklace and inspects it. It's a solid gold chain with a little charm that looks like a cat's head. Cute.
"What, is this evil faerie gold that will melt Cucurucho's skin off?" Roier asks.
"No, it's for you," the cat replies. "Wear it tomorrow. When the wedding reaches the climax, take the necklace off and break it."
Roier points at the cat accusingly. "You are going to kill me!"
The cat rolls its eyes. "I'm not. Just... trust me."
Trust the man-eating faerie cat, sure. Right.
Roier sighs, but he puts the necklace on, anyway. It's surprisingly warm around his neck.
The cat almost seems to smile. "You look lovely."
"This thing is going to explode and blow my head off."
"No, you'll see."
And, well. What choice does Roier have but to wait and see?

The final wedding preparations go by in an uncomfortable blur.
Leo comes in to hug Roier goodbye. She then punches Roier in the stomach and tells him to write to her once he's at his new house.
Jaiden comes in to help Roier finish getting ready. She's happy about the marriage because she really thinks that Cucurucho is a good person, and Roier can't help but be happy that she's happy.
Foolish comes in to walk Roierto the church. He and Vegetta each take one of Roier's arms, and they walk.
And then Cucurucho is waiting at the church in front of the altar in an all-white suit. His fur is meticulously brushed, his claws are polished, his smile is painted on, he's absolutely grotesque.
Roier hates him.
"Good morning," Cucurucho says as Roier settles in front of the altar.
"It's sunset, you fucking idiot," Roier snaps. He can say what he wants now, right? He's going to die, anyway. The cat is going to kill him.
Cucurucho laughs, and then the ceremony starts.
Roier tunes out most of the goings-on if only to keep himself from breaking down and breaking the necklace before it's time. The cat said to wait until the climax, so Roier's going to wait for the goddamn climax.
He comes back to himself as the cleric asks if anybody in the audience has any objections to the marriage.
This sounds like a fucking climax if Roier's ever heard one.
"Yes," he says. "I object!"
He tears the necklace from around his neck and throws it to the floor. Before anybody can stop him, he slams his heel into the charm.
The entire church erupts into screams as a blinding white light fills it. Magic tears at Roier's skin, biting and pulling. He squeezes his eyes shut, anticipating the end of it all.
But:
"I also object," the cat says.
Two large hands settle on Roier's upper arms, and he's pulled back and against a firm chest.
Roier tilts his head back- not too far, because the cat's human form is shorter than he is, funnily enough- and his eyes widen as he takes in the most beautiful man in the world. Long hair the same color as the cat's coat, scarred face, feathery earrings, cat eyes.
"No," Curucucho snaps. "No!"
"Yes!" the cat- well, not the cat, Roier supposes- shouts. "The prince is mine! He swore himself to me the moment he accepted that necklace, and so he will go back with me to the Faewild and become my husband. You know the rules, bear."
Leo, in the audience, cheers. So does Foolish, who always appreciates a good show.
"Gatinho," Roier hisses.
The faerie shrugs his concerns off. Roier is annoyed about this for exactly three seconds before he gets caught up in the faerie's eyes.
Could be a worse arranged marriage, that's for sure...
A long moment passes, but Cucurucho eventually says a begrudging, "Yes."
"So," the faerie continues, "you will not destroy the kingdom for this. If the prince has already been promised to somebody else, then he never rejected you."
"Yes," Cucurucho sighs.
"You're hot when you're arguing," Roier whispers.

Yeah, no, this arranged marriage will be way better than the last one.
"So!" The faerie turns Roier around so that they're looking at each other properly for the first time eye-to-eye. "You will be coming with me."

"All you need to do is say my name," the faerie says.

"There's more where that comes from," Roier teases. He puts his arms around the faerie and smiles. "You're marrying me, get used to it. That's just part of the deal."

NO ONE'S POV Ever since Wanda broke up with Vision, she promised herself she'd never date anyone from the same building again.
It's hard to see the one that disappointed you and ruined the perfect relationship you had every single day.
After some time Wanda met Y/N, a girl who works in a coffee shop. Some people might say it was love at the first sight. Wanda's mind was full of that girl ever since she saw her for the first time, so she took matter into her own hands and invited Y/N on a date.
And that's how the two started dating 3 months ago. Both have been really happy together, although Wanda's been having doubts about Y/N's loyality. She doesn't want to repeat the thing that happened with Vision and Y/N seems to be way too friendly sometimes.
"So what do you want to do?" Natasha asks, sipping her coffee.
"I asked her to come with me to Tony's party tonight. I'm gonna go away for a bit and see if she's gonna get too friendly with someone or not" Wanda explains, also taking a sip from her own coffee.
"So you're gonna test your girlfriend if she's loyal? You gotta work on that trust issues, Wanda" Natasha sighs.
"I know, I know. I just want to be sure. Y/N is amazing and I really love her, but I don't want to repeat the thing with Vision. I just want to make sure she loves me back" Wanda reasons. "Anyway, I need to get ready now. I'm picking Y/N up at her apartment, so I'll see you there" Wanda smiles, standing up.
The witch walks to her room to get ready. She does her make-up and puts her hair into a high ponytail. Then she just puts on her favorite black dress, does a few final touches and she's ready to go.
Y/N is also ready by now. She's also wearing a dress, but unlike Wanda she's wearing dark red one. Wanda loves that dress, especially when she was the one who got them for Y/N.
"You look absolutely breathtaking" Wanda smirks, looking her girl up and down.
"Thank you. You look really beatiful too" Y/N blushes, smiling at her girlfriend.
"Thank you, baby. Are you ready to go?" Wanda returns the smile and leads her girlfriend to the car after hearing a nod from her.
The pair arrives to Tony's party and as always heads to the bar first. They order drinks and just talk about their days.
"What's wrong? What are you looking for?" Y/N asks confused as Wanda's been looking through her purse for a few seconds.
"I think I left my phone in the car. I'll be right back" Wanda smiles, kisses her girlfriends cheek and disappears.
"I… Okay" Y/N sighs and stays sitting on the barstool.
10 minutes later Y/N is still sitting at the bar, waiting for her girlfriend to show up and worrying something might have happened to her.
She sighs and decides to go outside and find her girlfriend, eventually to help her find her phone if she's still looking for it.
"Wanda?" Y/N calls, not seeing anyone around.
'Maybe Wanda's already back inside' Y/N thinks, turning around to go back in, but spotting a little black kitten in front of the door.
"You're so cute" She squeals, slowly kneeling down to the kitten and running her fingers through the fluffy fur. "How did you get here?"
Meanwhile Wanda is walking around the whole room, trying to find her girlfriend. She wasn't standing far from the bar, actually she saw her girlfriend perfectly, but she got lost in her conversation with Clint and Y/N walked outside without the witch noticing.
After walking around the room for the 5th time, Wanda decides to go home, thinking Y/N has probably left with someone.
"Oh my god, Y/N! You got me worried sick!" Wanda rushes to her girlfriend who's been playing with the kitten the entire time.
"Wanda, you scared Shadow off" Y/N complains with a pout when the kitten runs away.
"Who's Shadow?" Wanda asks confused, helping her girlfriend up from the ground.
"A kitten I found when I came to help you find your phone. Have you found it?" Y/N asks, giving Wanda a sweet smile.
"Wait. You've been here with a cat the entire time?" Wanda asks with a chuckle.
"Yeah. I was worried something happened to you when you still weren't coming, so I went here to look if you don't need help" Y/N explains, making Wanda smile, her doubts now forgotten.
"Come on, you. Let's go to have some fun" Wanda chuckles, interlocking her fingers with Y/N's and dragging her back into the building.

"Where's the other half?" Natasha teases, sipping her morning coffee while watching Wanda enter the kitchen.
"She's still sleeping. I want to make her breakfast" Wanda smiles, taking out all the ingrediences she needs for pancakes.
"So it went well yesterday? Did she not get 'too friendly' with anyone?" Natasha asks cousiously.
"Well… when I left Vision alone, I found him flirting with other girl… and when I left Y/N alone, she was playing with a cat, so no. She did not get too friendly with anyone. I have nothing to worry about" Wanda says, smiling to herself while thinking of her girlfriend.
"Morning, Nat" Y/N smiles, stepping into the kitchen. "Oh. There you are. I was wondering where you disappeared" The girl smiles when she sees her girlfriend and walks to her.
"I wanted to surprise you with breakfast and you just ruined it" Wanda teases and pulls Y/N in for a kiss. "Good morning, my love"
"Good morning" Y/N smiles back, wrapping her arms around Wanda's neck and giving her a hug.

February sucked but it wasn't all bad so! a little diary entry update of the things that happened while I was gonee :3 ⊹ ࣪ ˖
Peanut continues to be the bravest girl in the world... she's getting much more confident about coming inside a bit + she has discovered the joys of forehead kisses and being blanketed in cuddles =) ... also I saw a rabbit that was as big as her last week. Cleo was reunited with her beloved gen 3 my little ponies and Loki has been an even cuddlier bug than usual ! The weather got a lot nicer for a while so I started exploring again n I managed to expand my dead-things collection a bit! I also visited some really cool places that r said to be haunted and I've been making a list of more.. I'm going 2 a cat expo this weekend and I'm hoping my next adventure will be to a cat graveyard / shrine I know of that was built by witches..
During my exploration I also discovered a colony of feral cats.. Despite making kitty friends it is not a good thing.. there were around 15 cats I saw around a small group of houses and the majority of them were not fixed. I made some calls to my friend who was experienced with TNR in the area and she told me that there is a lady in that neighborhood tht is known to feed & let ferals breed in her yard without letting anyone try to get them fixed. Of course this results in giant inbred colonies and sick kittens. One of the first cats I spotted there was a black kitten that was very clearly sick with some kind of eye and respiratory infection. I was able to catch her the day after I found her and I brought her to the kitty clinic.. she is still there getting help right now and I've been calling every once in a while to check up on her. I very much feel like I was meant to find her because not even 10 minutes after I scooped her up a rainbow appeared in the sky n stayed until I got home from dropping her off.. but I am still unsure of what to do about the colony,.. many people see it as a lost cause but I still feel like I should try to help. If I see that evil lady I'm genuinely gonna start cryign about it right in front of her.
I was very heartbroken in the summer when my sweet beloved ancient laptop joined the angels in heaven .. n WELL !! I was pretty much given a laptop tht my dad fixed up bc no one was using it.. ?? I feel extremely lucky.. Aside from that I've been giving into my urge for Projects ... I also found a mini chainsaw so uhh look out for that I guess

i love how the first three episodes of soul eater very clearly tell us what the characters are like even in a 24 minute episode limit...soul and maka are very capable as partners, they had 99 kishin souls but the thing that sent them all the way back to square one was overestimating themselves. they thought blair was a witch, they didn't bother checking and just. killed her. sure, she has 9 lives, she's fine, but they not only overestimated their ability to tell she was a witch, but they also jumped right into the fight and kept persuing her without confirming at all if she was a witch all because maka was so determined to make a weapon stronger than her mother had, a weapon stronger than her dad who she hates. and soul is so caught up in the excitement of getting the status of death scythe that he just follows along with it.
the episode show us how well they work together as a pair, maka being quick on her feet and soul coming up with a plan out of nowhere, something not even maka imagined him doing which ultimately helped them sell it in the end, but we also saw their weaknesses.
we get a glimpse into maka's insecurities early on with her truly believing soul was leaving her for blair, equating it to cheating and us getting a montage of spirit cheating on her mother with various women all in front of maka (although he was unaware of that last bit). and although soul had spent the better half of the episode picking at her insecurities in a way that could come across as mean spirited, we see his immediate reponse be "how am i supposed to know? cool men don't cheat on their partners." which makes maka realize he was just setting up blair to fall directly into his trap and get her soul. while maka is usually regarded as the smarter partner, soul shows he is a great asset in a fight, weapon form or not, because he's a quick thinker and can transform from weapon to human fast enough for them to get the drop on blair who has cat like reflexes for...obvious reasons.
in the defense of maka and soul, even lord death and spirit think she's a witch at first, but lord death also stresses to them both that if they fuck this up they have to start all over and they don't even...double check that she's a witch? idk how easy that is in this universe especially given this is before maka can see soul wavelengths (which is probably a huge part of why they just went with whatever intel they had) but i'm sure there has to be some way to tell if it's this huge of a deal to aquire one.
and then we have black star who...immediately shows us he could be a very good assassin if he didn't give himself away every fucking time 😭😭 his ego is his biggest downfall but it's also what gained him his incredibly loyal, kind, forgiving partner tsubaki, who saw him be so bold as to stand on top of the building and ask who would work with someone as loud, obnoxious and brash as him and that's honestly probably the best way he could've went about it. how else would he find somebody willing to put up with all of his flaws if they couldn't even handle him as his regular, outgoing, over the top self?
it's also really interesting how tsubaki and black star go over the assassins' rules of silence, stealth, not being seen, etc. followed by black star immediately throwing that out of the window. and tsubaki chastises him. instead of her being the type of girl who just goes along with whatever black star does, she tells him he doesn't understand assassination at all and complains about how they never collect any souls. black star doesn't take any of her words to heart though and tsubaki doesn't take his actions to heart either.
after this we see lord death even say their issue isnt skill, its purely performance, its how they (black star) don't take the mission seriously and tsubaki accepts blame for both of them instead of just pinning it on him. even if she knows he's the problem, she also sees them as a package deal, a team all the way through and she's okay with this. tsubaki also shows that she fully trusts black star as a partner and thinks he will make her a death scythe, it'll just take a little longer than others.
tsubaki and black star both show a lot of strength in battle, with tsubaki being able to transform into multiple weapon forms, black star being very agile, with the ability to do all sorts of moves that most of the other characters are never seen doing. we can see black star go from a poor excuse for an assassins to an impressive one within seconds to mifune and all it took was him actually wanting to do it. we see he can make himself silent and he can use stealth quite well, making it so mifune doesn't even notice him and tsubaki have switched places for a few minutes and he only notices because tsubaki's breathing is different than black star's. we also get to see that even if his ego is a flaw of his, it's also why he can use his wavelength so well when nobody else in his class really can. he has the confidence in his abilities that most of his other peers do not and that is part of what makes him dangerous when he is actually determined to kill somebody.
and he was determined to kill mifune until he found out that he was just protecting a kid. witch or not, angela was a fucking kid and black star couldn't do it. tsubaki could've. she even tells black star they should take they opportunity that was practically handed to them, with plenty of kishin soul's and angela's right there for the taking and he refuses. despite how they have no souls collected, he still choses to walk away and takes the souls back to lord death in a sack rather than having tsubaki consume them because that isn't a real win to him, he didn't kill those kishins.
and then we get to kid's episode and right off the bat we see this dude is talented and a bit cocky but despite his abilities, his ocd gets in the way of retrieving kishin souls. patty's stance is off, he yells at her about it and she responds apologetically, but clearly isnt upset by him yelling, implying it either happens a lot so she can brush it off or she is truly just that bubbly that it doesn't phase her (probably both). liz, on the other hand, tries to reason with him, telling him now is truly not the time as they're in the middle of pursuing a man and when he keeps lecturing them, she just complains, but let's him do it anyways. it's only when he gets a little too out of hand with it does she put him in his place, punching him and telling him he probably shouldnt be talking about how unsymmetrical her and patty are when he has three stripes on one side of his hair and not the other. he calls himself an abomination and cries. they comfort him despite their (liz's) clear annoyance before.
this shows us that despite them all working well as a team in battle, they get caught up in the actual performance of it all, much like black star and tsubaki do, but for completely different reasons. they're plenty skilled, but instead of ego getting in their way like it does with black star, it's arguing (similar to soul and maka) over what seems like little details to liz and patty, but are all consuming to kid.
we also get a line from liz about how "these little rich kids are always so gullible" which implies her and patty are, at the very least, not well off (though we don't know the extent yet). this is when we learn he is lord death's son and that he doesn't actually need to be doing...any of this. he doesn't need to collect souls, doesn't need to train to be a meister or have weapons or work with his team to make them death scythes for his father, he's doing this out of pure want. lord death says because he had two weapons, he needs to collect double the souls. kid, cocky once again, says he wants to collect all 198 + 2 witch souls at once. he's cocky, but they have the skill to back it up.
and obviously they do, kid's a reaper after all and he specifically picked out patty and liz because he knew of their reputation on the streets (plus the symmetry, but lets stick to skill rn)
but again this isn't what slows them down. they go on a mission and as soon as they get there, kid starts worrying about whether or not a painting he has at home is off center and he cant stop obsessing over this thought until the point where he straight up abandons patty and liz when theyre in a pyramid about to fight mummys.
so instead of seeing kid's strengths, we see liz and patty's. the sisters are great at fighting even when the plan goes to shit, likely due to their time before the DWMA. liz shoots with good aim but switches with patty effortlessly when the mummys get too close, not even having to say anything for patty to know to switch with her. and patty shows that she's definitely less scared than older her sister and works better under pressure, hugging the mummys, giggling at them and sticking liz right in one of the mummy's mouths to blow its (metaphorical) brains out while liz complains about it being gross and creepy.
they collect all the souls alone, without their meister and split them evenly just to respect kid's unsaid wishes.
and then finally kid comes back! he's on his gay little skateboard of course, forgot to mention that earlier but it definitely says something about him that it's his primary mode of transportation and its named beelzebub. he gets back just in time as patty and liz have been captured and since they cant use their weapon forms, kid uses his skateboard to free his partners, but that's about as much as he can do before realizing the pharaoh is perfectly symmetrical and he would rather die than destroy it. like he is literally getting torn to shreds by this fucker but he cant do anything about it.
but then the pharaoh steps out of it's tomb and kid sees how asymmetrical it is and that's also what saves them. it almost gets him killed, it ruins missions regularly, his ocd absolutely disrupts his day to day life, but in this instance it also saves them as he gets so mad about the asymmetry that he blows a fucking HOLE through the back of the pyramid and DESTROYS THE ENTIRE THING by unbalancing it.
so yeah, basically i say all this to say the first three episodes do such a good job of introducing us to the main characters and showing us what their strengths and weaknesses are, even if they're played for laughs like kid's ocd, maka's insecurities or black star's ego.

Looking back over my screenshots again, I noticed something that bothers me: "Walpurgisnacht" is a name supposedly given to this witch by magical girls (and not what she calls herself, unlike the other witches we encounter), and yet that name appears in heavily stylized runes on her countdown signs in the original series. Why is that? Am I missing something?

The same runes are also in the Eternal movie, although they are a bit more legible. Nothing else appears to have changed overall, although the shading/contrast on the ring and "peacock tails" (probably stylized lotus flowers common in Buddhist mandalas?) is switched up.

The art style here is reminiscent of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century European woodblock prints during the time of the original witchcraft trials. This movement was stoked in large part by the widespread proliferation of lavishly illustrated printed pamphlets, which detailed witches' misdeeds in lurid detail, and popularized many archetypes we now associate with witches, from brooms and black cats to deals and dances with the Devil.

Just for some fun visual parallels, compare to this shot from the recap movies that wasn't in the original TV release. The main difference is that all of the figures of Homuras are the same, whereas the ones in Walpurgisnacht's circle seem to be different.

The woodblock print in Homura's apartment depicts all the dancers as identical, while the later shot makes them look more like Walpurgisnacht's individualized familiars--which they might well be. Comparison to the Clara Dolls--a large number of familiars repeatedly described as being a match for or counterpart to magical girls with individualized designs--is also inevitable.
Ironically, the Christian saint Walpurga was supposed to protect against witchcraft, but her saint's day (April 30-May 1) ended up being conflated with the witches because it occurred at the same time as Hexennacht (German for 'Witches' Night'), when witches were said to dance with/in honor of the devil on Mount Brocken--and thus when people were most in need of St. Walpurga's protection. Goethe draws on this tradition in Faust, Part One (a major influence on PMMM) for the scene where Mephistopheles takes Faust to the Brocken in order to witness the celebrations--which is also one of the texts depicted in Homura's apartment.

Another sheet reads "Ein Narr"--German for "the fool", another recurring motif associated with Walpurgisnacht (and also Homura).
Given the accuracy of these documents, these woodcuts are presumably based on eyewitness accounts (possibly magical girls, since ordinary people see Walpurgisnacht as a storm) where Walpurgisnacht appeared but was apparently not permanently defeated. Combined with Walpurgisnacht's ability to appear--and presumably disappear--without warning, and the fact that she's large enough to show up on radar as a storm, this suggests to me that Walpurgisnacht might be a time traveler or possess a similar ability to "exit the stage" and only reveal herself at the most dramatic moment(s) possible. Not only would this fit with her cog/stage motif, it would make her an even more fitting narrative foil for Homura, and add yet another parallel between them.
For both witches and ordinary humans alike, Walpurgis Night is traditionally celebrated with dancing and bonfires. Not only is Homura's name is a homonym for 'flame', Rebellion is chock full of ballet motifs, and she is last seen dancing alone in the moonlight late at night--presumably during the "witching hour" (which, depending on the source, is either between 3-4 a.m., or the hour immediately after midnight. Given the earlier scene of Homura becoming a witch as the clocks strikes midnight, I lean towards the latter interpretation).
Even more suggestively, Homura is now diegetically the Devil and appears to have taken on Kyubey's role as a contractor. If so, this strongly implies that she (and/or her double?) will have a personal relationship with magical girls as the one to whom they sold their souls to gain their power, just like historical witches were said to do with Satan. And given that these historical witches supposedly gathered on Walpurgis Night to honor the Devil... well, that does put Walpurgisnacht's likely (re)appearance in a new light, doesn't it?
...and if the 'Walpurgis' of Walpurgis no Kaiten is indeed the same Walpurgisnacht we saw before, then some timey-wimey/reality-bending/fourth-wall breaking shenanigans are afoot.
It's funny because "what were YOU doing at the devil's sacrament?" is usually meant as a tongue-in-cheek joke, but if PMMM continues to take these references seriously, we might actually get to find out!

Time Travel Drabble: This is Harriet thinking that she's dreaming. This is Tom basically drunk off of his soul being inside her.
Slytherin Green silk robe.
Untameable black hair like ink.
Those are the first things that Tom could register from the unfamiliar person lying down on the Black family carpet, the one opposite their tapestry. 
He curled his lip in disgust at the memory of Walburga Black entering his mind with her banshee-like screeching of pride over the 'purity' of her and her family's blood.
A giggle snapped him out of his thoughts and back to the woman lying down.
He cleared his throat to gain her attention but to no avail as her attention was pinned to the tapestry.
Tom hated being ignored so he cleared his throat even deeper and added, "Excuse me-"
"You're excused." She cut him off, not even looking at him to address him, "Now get out." This was followed by a shooing motion that angered him, "I thought I told Kreacher not to let anyone in today." The last part was muttered to herself.
She resumed looking at the tapestry while Tom assessed her.
The unidentified witch didn't seem like a threat, especially since her magic wasn't even present.
 Still, appearances were deceiving so he kept his magic on the defensive in case she attacked.
She sighed with exhaustion before standing up.
When she faced him, her reaction was most peculiar.
Instead of shrieking like any lady who realised that a gentleman was in her presence, she folded her arms and assessed him.
"A ghost of Tom Riddle coming to haunt me?" She said aloud, freezing him temporarily.
How did she know his identity?
"A ghost?" He asks instead, more confused as to that part of her ramblings.
The witch cocked her head at him and her stare intensified.
Eyes as green as the killing curse, he noted, finding himself strangely drawn to them.
"Yes, a ghost, Tom. That's what you are to me." 
Her voice was oddly sooth- He ought to smack himself for having inappropriate thoughts towards a woman he had never met before.
"I do believe you are confusing me with a different person."
An appalled look overtook his face before he could stop it at the sight of her snorting.
What unladylike behaviour, he added mentally to the profile he was beginning to build in his mind.
"Even dead, you're still trying to trick me, Tom?" She tutted, making him feel more like a schoolboy being told off.
"Are you aware that it is quite rude to address a person by their forename without giving yours in return?" Tom moves closer, both as intimidation and to avoid looking at her very appealing figure- STOP!
His mind screeched to a halt.
What was his mind even saying?
"You really are going with this whole clueless act, aren't you Tom?" She asked with narrowed eyes.
Before he could reply, she sighed and released her hands from their folded state.
"Hi, Tom Riddle. My name is Harriet Potter. Are you happy now?" She placed her hand in front of him for him to shake.
He kissed the back of her hand, almost drunk off of the intensity of feeling the power of her magic humming under her skin, and replied, "Immensely pleased."
Sh- Lady Potter downright hissed at him like a tame cat turned wild as she snatched her hand back from his hold.
"I am not a thing that has been created to please you, Tom." She spat out his name like it was poison on her tongue.
"Did I say you were?" He replied, amusement in his tone at seeing a blush colour her cheeks when she hissed at him, anger dripping from her.
"Yes, you have. Multiple times, Tom," she states before moving away from him to sit on the sofa that she had neglected for the floor.
Tom followed her and sat next to her asking, "I do not recall any of those moments,"
Lady Potter - Harleen - groaned in frustration, jabbing a finger into his side, "Stop acting like you don't fucking know me, you fucked up Dark Lord!"
Tom grabbed at her hands, halting her movements from poking him any further and stated, "I truly do not know who you are, Lady Potter."
Lady Potter froze and looked at him.
No.
She assessed him the way a predator would before pouncing on its prey.
Was he the prey in the situation?
"Fine then, Tom," Lady Potter mused, as she stood up and bound him to the sofa with invisible weaves of ropes, "I'm going to play along with the ruse that you've cooked up here. The ruse being that I've travelled back somehow and met the Dark Lord before he loses his nose."
Excuse me? Tom went to say but he failed to notice earlier that the ropes bound his mouth so he was unable to speak.
"I killed you in the future," She says casually as if talking about the weather, "I took pleasure in watching you turn into nothing but ash."
Tom's red eyes must have come out because Harleen was looking at him very carefully.
Then she did something he could never have expected.
She spoke in Parseltongue.
A Potter was a Parselmouth.
"You destroyed my life, Tom Riddle. And now, I'm going to ruin yours. I'm going to ruin you until you come to me on your knees begging for death."
Then the ropes were gone but before he could grab her, she had disappeared.
Tom grinned at the challenge.
Him begging?
No, Harleen Potter, it will be you who comes to me.

Iceman, I love most of this look. The accented orange is perfect for the mostly blue look, and I love that he has a matching earring for his cuff-links. Such a nice touch! But those rubber boots, man... those rubber boots ruin it for me. 8/10

Since I’m watching PMMM for the first time (with a lot of it spoiled due socmed lol), I figured it’d be fun to write my thoughts so far, 1.5 episodes in. It goes without saying, but don't send me any further spoilers, as this is only fun if I can manage to remain as ignorant as I am now.

-It has Shinbo Akiyuki's artistic sensibilities all over it (reason I started watching, tho I'm unclear what exactly his involvement in this is lol). Also, Urobuchi Gen is the main writer for this lol

An upwards climb or a downward spiral? The irregular curving of the stories and the pattern alternance sure makes it look like it's spiraling inward. As our lace curtain lifts so the play can begin, this is our first look at the kind of world that awaits us.

I don’t have a lot to say about the witches’ labyrinths yet, but I’m always a sucker for dreamscapes (I loved them dearly in Flip Flappers, where they had the incredible work of Studio Pablo strengthening the storybook look), and I’m assuming the labyrinths symbolize something about the interiority or the difficulties the witch in question faced. I don’t have a lot to go by with the two labyrinths in episode one, but I did love the glimpse of the one we get in the opening sequence. I love the effect that it creates when alternating between panoramic shots or extreme close-ups to Madoka’s legs and back as she runs—respectively making her look too small against this overwhelming set piece or claustrophobically trapped in her impotence. As the camera moves along, there’s a sensation that the different patterns in the floors are moving. Because of the way we perceive depth via ascertaining the apparent parallelism or convergence of lines and value/color contrast, among other things, the pattern alternance in this monochrome set piece creates illusions of either motion or that each row is a step more elevated than the other. It’s a properly trippy place. I enjoy it. The straight white for the lighting and tiles creates an artificial and alienating atmosphere. The uniformity of its looks is disorienting. Is Madoka going the right way?  It’s really a fantastic introduction to the world of Madoka Magica.

Despite the disorienting feeling, Madoka follows mostly straight paths and there's a clearly labeled, correct exit. This brings to mind the predetermined paths present in Revolutionary Girl Utena's imagery.
Additionally, I find the way Madoka’s run is boarded reminiscent to Utena’s chase after Anthy in Adolescence of Utena:

We get panoramic overhead shots emphasizing the disorienting, geometrical maze and the impotence of our heroines' tiny figure against them.
Before reaching their destination, they both cross a stairs-bridges of sorts; Utena, towards the dueling arena where Anthy waits for her to continue the dueling cycle with Utena as champion; Madoka, towards the foyer where she can find her exit to where Homura is struggling against another hopeless, fighting cycle, one which Madoka choses to perpetuate when making a contract with Kyubey…

The offer that tempts Madoka into a contract is the promise of agency. She can’t stand the reality where there is nothing she can do, thus it's the promise she does actually have power to influence the narrative and help others and stop their suffering what Kyubey dangles in front of her. Madoka feels deeply moved by the pain of others and has a strong empathetic response that makes it very easy for her to be preyed upon by our resident ugly cat here. It’s detrimental to her. Maybe Homura has a point in reversing her wish to be the divine embodiment of Goodness. 
It’s then interesting that she expresses disappointment upon waking up not only in the premiere but in episode 02, as well. Her waking up animation might as well become bank during this introductory arc (I’m betting it does, can’t wait to be wrong). When confronted with the thought the world her senpai Mami introduced to her, one of great danger but also apparently fulfilling and actualizing, Madoka expresses disappointment. Even though she has a happy, easygoing life full of friends and family that love her and that she loves in return, there is something else she is looking for.

Following Madoka’s "dream", we learn about her homelife anchored around her interactions with her mother as they talk about the love lives of the people around Madoka, contrasted to Madoka's own assertion that no one has an eye on her. Their whole bathroom conversation could be characterized as "girl talk": they go on about love and the need to maintain an appealing image as means to reach it. I could easily accuse this scene of being sexist (and it did rub me the wrong way initially), but the dialogue is naturalistic enough to paint a trusting, warm bond between mother and daughter; plus the repetition of the make-up motif in the second episode while interspersed with Mami's explanation draws attention to themes of appearance and desire.
A remark that can easily be taken as reinforcing gender essentialism lol

The contrast in the way mother and daughter carry themselves is apparent. When Madoka relays her reports about her homeroom teacher's love life, her more experienced mother offers keen observations about the possible state of the relationship. Where Madoka takes things at face value, her mother can see deeper. The same applies to the image they project to the world— where her mother has a set (numbered) method to achieve her ideal image, Madoka fumbles and fusses about her ribbon choice and not being seen as too much. The frame pan showcasing the end result has Madoka standing timidly with her hands folded over her lap and her back reflection shown in three different angles in the background mirrors, as if she's being thoroughly scrutinized. While her mother confidently observes her reflection in the mirror, Madoka shrinks at being observed.

I can't say that Madoka’s self-confidence is worryingly low given what we’ve been presented with—while she lacks the self-assurance her mother possesses, she doesn’t seem particularly self-deprecating. While her affirmation that no one looks her way reflects that self-consciousness, Madoka doesn't further put herself down. Instead, it could simply be that she's a teenager only now discovering her identity, what she's comfortable with, what she wants and what place can she carve for herself in this world. Her mother advises her to train the image and behaviors of someone confident as a first step to grow more certain of herself. The scene places emphasis on the process of purposefully building the image you project, which becomes relevant as episode two's layouts play with a reflection motif around talks of desire. 
While thinking back on Kyubey’s proposal of granting them one wish in exchange of risking their lives, Madoka ponders about what she wants. Her waffling contrasts to her mother’s immediate, cutting  response concerning pragmatic concerns from her work life when Madoka echoes the question to her. Although, of course, her mother lacks the whole context that makes the decision heightened, Madoka’s roof talk with Kyubey and Sayaka reinforces that there isn’t anything she wishes for that strongly. Yet. 
Additionally, when Madoka proposes a bigger ambition to her mother (“Wouldn’t you rather become CEO yourself?”), the image her mother projects into the mirror changes drastically into a more fierce and dangerous look, complete with the repetition of her labeled make-up symbol. This ties a connection between the image people project and what they desire. And just like Madoka has a rather inhibited persona, so do her desires appear mild.
This takes us to Mami, their helpful senpai.

Knowing the spoilers that Homura is trying to save Madoka from death via time loops and preventing her from forming a contract with Kyubey has an interesting effect— that is, it casts suspicion over other characters. Mami is the helpful senpai that shows up in the nick of time to save them from the witch, heals Kyubey, explains the situation to them and even promises to protect them from Homura at school. She also offers to show them the fieldwork so they can make up their mind about whether to become contracted! The earlier, careful portrayal around purposeful appearances and the reflection motif repeating during their talk can’t be coincidence. Clearly, she wants to be seen as someone who’s dependable, and whether this has more sinister implications or is stemming from personal wishes is unclear to me yet. Mami feels more like Kyubey’s sales associate than anything else. “You can come observe” it’s the pitch you give someone unsure whether to join a club so you can lure them further in. She’s encouraging them to take on a responsibility that can have rather grim outcomes, despite her early assertion that magical girls don’t necessarily work together to reap the rewards of fighting witches—a statement that further reinforces the narrative of Homura as an antagonistic force to our young heroines. Mami either is very upstanding and thinks it’s a duty they should take on since they were chosen or there is something deeply fishy going on here.
For all intents and purposes, Mami is a completely separate entity to our young heroines, not unlike Homura. She’s the one who’s a magical girl already, they’re the uninitiated. They sit on the same side of the table, opposite to her. This shot emphasizes their separation through the black leg of that foreground furniture.
There’s clearly a lot we don’t know about her.

Isn’t it just so fun how this reflection shot obscures her face? Like she’s covering it with her hands in sorrow. Seems charged that it coincides with her explanation about witches causing suicide and murder, does she know of someone who was a victim of them? OR better yet, someone who became One?
I know that magical girls become witches in this series, which also poses interesting possibilities…

Are my suspicions on Mami’s intentions totally off-mark? I have no idea, but it’s incredibly fun to doubt her  lol
Speaking of despair lore, I usually raise my eyebrow—think it’s full of shit— when there’s worldbuilding that links suicide and violence to supernatural entities; it’s a run-of-the-mill battle shonen explanation, Noragami also uses it with Ayakashi as amalgamation of negative feelings and energy from the people of the places they haunt. Now, this could still work on an allegorical sense of how oppressive environments lead to such emotional outcomes, since most stories don’t engage with the structural causes of such problems… It can be that, or end up attributing a metaphysical cause as the source of all darkness without even so much extending understanding and sympathy to the people who suffer from it. Where does Madoka Magica fall, I wonder…
Blessed fools.

Given our young heroines lack of direction, ardent ambitions or anguishing desires, Sayaka muses that perhaps the fact they don’t have anything they’d die for is a sign they’re blessed fools. This rings true for Madoka. She’s a happy kid with a supportive family and friends. Despite her longing for something more—her own agency? confidence? Romantic love?—, there doesn’t seem to be anything that is making her actively miserable. Her mild adolescent ennui is not necessarily something pernicious and would’ve likely resolved itself as she experienced and tackled more challenges in her life with the guidance and support of her family. This whole business paints more ill-fated for her (and I mean, I know it is. What a tragedy, hers).
But is this true for Sayaka? This brief shot with its ominous red sky and its bedridden figure shrouded in darkness begs to differ… The fact she feels guilty over being chosen, thinking there’s people who’d make use of a miracle much better than them makes me think it’s rather someone she knows… Is this her motivation to get into Kyubey’s magical girl agency? I don’t have a lot to go by…

Sayaka and homoeroticism.

The Girl Talk in episode one continues as we follow Madoka’s commute to school with her two friends: the blue one, the to-be Magical Girl, Sayaka and this one random girl that I'm surprised it's even there. The banter and physicality to Sayaka and Madoka’s interactions is fun and warm, selling their chemistry as friends. And near the end, Sayaka playfully proclaims Madoka must be with her, which immediately brought to mind Revolutionary Girl Utena’s Shinohara Wakaba's own ambiguous, very physically affectionate date-play with Utena. 
Rather than being a maiden in the sidelines, however, Sayaka is positioned as Madoka’s protector against Homura. Given Homura is fighting to be Madoka’s silent protector herself, this is unbelievably funny to me. When Madoka finds Homura's staring off-putting during P.E., she hides behind Sayaka. When Madoka— with Kyubey in her arms— is alone facing the inscrutable, darkness-shrouded, threatening Homura, the one who shows up to save her is Sayaka. When they're alone within the creepy labyrinth, Sayaka protectively embraces Madoka. When Madoka is worried that Homura might try to attack them at school, Sayaka offers to punch Homura. This antagonistic placing of Madoka's two protectors is hilarious, and I'm curious to see if the dynamic fizzles out as we delve into Sayaka's innermost wishes and struggles or if the tension will boil over into something interesting.
'Get behind me, Madoka! I got the fire extinguisher!' 
Such a hilarious way to break the tension.

The show acknowledges the homoeroticism between the two in a tongue-in-cheek manner during their commute in episode 2, when their normie friend feels put off by the apparent intimacy of their silent (telepathic) communication:

Madoka points out that their normie friend's remarks sound a lot like what Sayaka tells to her on a regular basis, lending credence to my Wakaba comparison lol This gag could simply be an acknowledgement of the charged homoeroticism present in the series, but it still amuses me so far a lot of it has circled around Sayaka and Madoka. 
Akemi Homura
Her soundless, despaired scream as she catches sight of Madoka with Kyubey was so cinematic ❤️

Speaking of homoeroticism, it's time to talk about Homura. I actually felt a little sad that I already know about her motivations because she's so incredibly off-putting, I'd have had a lot of fun speculating about the meaning of her actions, the way she's framed and the meticulous way her micro expressions are portrayed. However, it's not like there isn't still some room to have fun reading into them. She enters the picture via the classic transfer student trope. From her introduction alone, she creates an awkward atmosphere with the way the standoffish silence lingers due her laconicism. 
Despite her aloof demeanor, and in pure transfer-student fashion, Homura still stands out both in academics and physical feats (she even breaks the regional high jump record lol!); as such garners the attention of her peers. Nonetheless, she couldn't be more uninterested in them, as the one she can't keep her eyes off is Madoka. Her taciturn, blank-faced and cutting demeanor can paint her staring as downright aggressive. This is further reinforced by being color coded with the darkest values in the cast so far: black and purple are her signature colors, classic villain palette. 
Her conversation with Madoka as she rehashes the "could you show me where the infirmary is" routine is the big standout of hers in episode one —the tropey nature of this encounter makes it very easy to imagine how their first interactions went down the first time—. The low angle that emphasizes her head tilt and the accentuated shadows on her face and body make her look haughty and intimidating.
She's literally staring down Madoka lol Worth noting this same framing is repeated as she warns Madoka in a few minutes, complete with rotating animation for gravitas, contributing to Homura's bad vibes.

While one could think that the reason she approached Madoka was to issue her warning, I'm actually not that certain. It could be due the way her anguished reactions to being around Madoka make her look quite erratic as she tortures herself with these distorted echoes of her memories—but I also have to point out the abrupt way she brings the interaction to a halt, stomping and suddenly turning. The way she behaves through the whole interaction feels quite impulsive, which gave me the impression of Homura purposefully trying to recreate the past (whether out of indulgence or to torture herself, I'm not really sure).
It's really fun the way this obscured close-up to her profile hiding her eyes— making it difficult to parse her emotions— paired to how the next highlighted extreme close-ups have her clenching her teeth led credence to the "Homura is a hostile party" narrative. Personally, the timing is what gets me. The way the timing makes it seem like she's really pissed at Madoka’s remark that her name is weird + subsequent fumbling is very funny lol I wouldn't say she's not upset from it, but mostly in the "it's painful to be around you" way.

There's a lot of natural verticals in the panels of their classrooms and the windows they transverse that create visual divisions between the two. I found it particularly noteworthy that while there's a natural sense of distance and awkwardness between the them, Homura is the one who accentuates it and fully brings herself to the other side of the threshold when she suddenly skips forward ahead from Madoka. The idea she's intentionally cultivating a distance between the two is very intriguing and appealing…

Their sitting order reinforces this idea, situating Homura all the way to the front, completely out of reach.

They look fully at odds with each other thanks to the high contrast between the bright windows and the shaded frames. The dark values to their visual barriers fully bring out the tension brought by Homura's sudden halt-and-turn as she issues her warning. Homura is framed as thoroughly oppositional to Madoka, and she herself doesn't bother to correct any misunderstandings. It's pretty interesting she's fine with being vilified if it might grant her any slight chance to get what she wants.

Homura's dead-eyed ominous warning vs Mami's personable, smiling offer of support, fight!  But this is truly why I can't trust Mami lol Should you really be tacitly encouraging them, Yellow Senpai? A cutting warning really seems more befitting here…

Odd ends. 
There's a lot of small gestures that really bring out charm to the interactions and feelings, but if I pointed out absolutely everything, I'd never finish this lol 
There's one thing from the Madoka-wakes-up Bank I do want to point out, though: the odd feeling Madoka’s head turn with the hard shading gives me. Now, I know it's a Shaft™ thing, I've watched another TV series directed by Shinbo that was produced there and I've heard of it. But I still find the timing peculiar— after the opening sequence with her running to the rooftop in episode one and the brief recap with Mami's transformation in the second, just before she wakes up. Of course, this reinforces that sense of being at the verge of waking up from an odd dream, which Madoka fully believes, but it can also get a sense of deja vu. Typically, one would assume that Madoka’s run towards the rooftop is a glimpse to an event that will happen later down the line. But given the nature of this being a time loop and Homura's insistence on preventing Madoka’s death via preventing her contract altogether, which it's implied to happen in that sequence, I don't think there isn't any reason to think that it's not something that didn't already happen. If this ends up being the case, I'm curious how that'd affect further loops.

Expectations for the rest of the introductory arc:
-Second half of episode 2 will end in a cliffhanger that'll destabilize routine while they fight a new witch. 
-Said cliffhanger will involve Mami (I HOPE IT DOES). I'm suspicious of her and hope she does something terrible, but I think it's equally, if not more, likely that something terrible happens to Her lol

Oh lord. Time to dust off the old ipod.
Some things were easier to deal with than others. He'd learned to eal with the sense of smell and the temper. He could deal with being alone.
But.
Stepping into the tea room behind the book shop, the prickle of the wards on his skin. The sharp staticky sensation- was not one of them.
As always, it was empty but for Izolda, sitting with her fingers steepled and waiting. Bundles of herbs waiting for him.
"You're late," she scolded. A heavy Russian accent accented by heavier brows as she scowled at him through the haze of incense.
"My apologies-"
"Bah," she said. "Too busy chasing skirts to remember an old woman"
"Hardly," he snorted. "I do have a company to run."
"Don't lie to me, Brucie."
"Izolda-"
"Bah," she said again, waving his protests away and gesturing for him to take a seat, "Girl," she called over the shoulder. "Bring the tea."
"You don't need to-" But an imperious look from the old woman cut off his protests and he took a seat. He didn't know how old Izolda was. His father had told him once that she's been old since he was a boy. And Bruce believed it. Her hands were gnarled with age and her snow white hair hung into a braid so long it coiled to the floor. For all he knew she lived her entire life in this room. In her plush red velvet arm chair. Dripping with gold jewelry and draped in silk shawls. She oozed power. Old power. And he wouldn't be surprised if she was the witch who taught Baba Yaga all her tricks. Or to find out that there were chicken feet under the book shop.
"Girl!" she demanded again, more loudly, half rising from her chair
"Coming, Grandmother," comes a voice. A contralto voice. A contrast but Bruce isn't sure how- not really. Until the swish of a long skirt and the clatter of bone china on a wooden tray attracted his attention. "I was waiting for the cakes," comes an explanation. "Sana sneezed in the first batch."
A dignified sniff from Izolda is her only response but some of the surly look leaves her face and she gestures to pour.
And Bruce blinks. Clearing his throat. Through the cloying incense and the aroma of leather and herbs another scent cut through the miasma. And it made him take notice. "I don't believe we've met before-"
"My granddaughter," Izolda said gesturing vaguely.
"I didn't know you had children," Bruce said, interested.
"Who said I did?"
"What-"
"Y/N," she said, "You forgot the lemon."
And without another word, with a swish of long skirts, you disappeared through the door you'd come through. Leaving tea steaming in bowls on the table- only for Sana a black cat with a cold to come and investigate. And beg for cream.

The woods were his home. The place he grew up, secluded from the public eye at all costs. Oliver liked to believe he knew every corner of these grounds, and yet he’d never admit to the mild surprise and intrigue he found himself feeling at the mention of an alleged Witch having resided deep in that same forest.
He doesn’t make it a habit of leaving the castle without his entourage, but he’s more than capable of protecting himself if an agreement can’t be made and the situation turns hostile. The idea of one of them listening in on his proposition for this aforementioned witch also wasn’t one he wanted to consider occurring.
With the patience of a saint he’d never be, his strides are slow and patient as he saunters through the territory he hadn’t given much of his attention to in the past. As if always on guard yet not ready to strike at any little thing, his gloved hand rests atop the handle of the sword sheathed next to his hip, attentively inspecting the seemingly empty area.
The devil’s come to get what it wants.
Merrick can sense him as soon as he gets close enough.
On a few of her excursions into town, she had heard tales of a wanted man, a villian terrorizing the kingdom and palace. There were even posters hanging throughout the marketplace where she sold her wares in disguise. At times, she... felt something. The telltale prickling at the back of her skull, indicating forces beyond the realm of 'normal' society.
She didn't know if they were related occurances, but Merrick was also intrigued. It had been quite some time since she's met someone else who wasn't merely a mortal being. Other than her familiar, that is.
Speaking of Artemis, he usually insisted on guiding people who have wandered too far into the woods, either back out or to the cottage itself. Merrick doesn't deem it necessary this time. The deep purple fog that had started to roll in gradually begins to lift, and a cottage comes into view up ahead.
Along with the lady of the house, standing at the gated entrance with her arms crossed. She wears a lavender dress with flowing skirts, ringlets of raven hair framing a tan complexion. Emerald green eyes stand out amidst black markings around her eyes, a strip of white drawn across the bridge of her nose.
At her feet is the large black cat with glowing eyes of molten amber, hackles raised as he takes in the visitor.
It's him. The same presence she felt in the village. "Greetings. What do you want?" She calls across the distance to him. Her tone is even and calm... not quite bored, but neutral.

WHO IS SHE?
In Demonic and Jewish culture, Lilith is the first Eve or wife of Adam, she refused Adams’ advances and attempts to subvert her power, independence, and inherent equality. She is the Queen of Demons and and the wife of Samael, from whom came the succubi. She is the Infernal Moon and Queen of the Infernal Sabbat. She does have an angelic aspect as well, that of being a protectress of mothers and children (duality). Her nature is that of feminine fertility, seduction, and the cycles of the Moon, and perhaps one of the reasons she is considered “evil” being her ability to seduce, to take what she wishes, and disregard those who displease her. Saturday is the neighborhood Halloween block party. Jane has decided that the two of you should be black cats, so you have on leggings and a black turtleneck with cat ears and whiskers drawn on your cheeks with eyeliner. The whole outfit is a little tighter than your normal attire, but it's all you have in black and you decide that it's worth it to make Jane happy. She has on a sparkly black dress with a tail and ears and matching whiskers on her cheeks. The whole neighborhood is outside for the event. There are tables filled with food and someone is playing music loud enough to be heard outside. Michael is dressed as a superhero, running around with his cape flying behind him. He's finally cast-free and loving it.
Elvis and Beth join a little after the party starts. She's dressed as a witch and he has on a black cape with a suit and fake vampire teeth. You wish he didn't look so damn cute, but he wouldn't be him if he didn't. Jane and Michael run to him to show him their costumes and he makes a big production of admiring Jane's ears and Michael's cape. The love between them all is palpable and you pray that Beth doesn't ask questions about it.
Susan Walter, dressed like Raggedy Ann, watches you like a hawk. She's voiced her speculations to Beth, but Beth doesn't seem interested in finding out more. Still, Susan is on high alert for more evidence of a scandal.
When you go inside to get some chairs for the adults to sit in as the kids run around, Elvis volunteers to help you. Beth and Susan make eye contact across the party.
You agree to let him come with you without thinking about how it might look. You've gotten so used to him that it feels natural that he would help you.
When you get inside, you head to the dining room for the chairs. Elvis comes up behind you and wraps his arms around your waist, setting his chin on your shoulder.
"Baby, this outfit is killing me. You look so damn sexy." You notice he's taken his fake fangs out. You turn to face him and he stays wrapped around your waist, burying his face in your neck and pressing his lips into the skin below your ear. You can feel how much he likes your outfit when he pushes his hips up against yours.
"Elvis!" You giggle and pull him into a passionate kiss.
"Well, isn't this a cozy domestic scene?"
FUCK.
You jump apart from each other and see Beth standing in the living room. How long has she been there?
She looks down and notices Elvis's very obvious erection. He clears his throat and pulls his cape around himself.
"You know, when Susan first told me about this, I thought there was no way. My husband? And the widow bitch from next door? No way he would sink that low." You look at your shoes.
"Shut your fucking mouth, Beth." He grits his teeth as he speaks, seething with rage and an instinct to protect you, even from her.
You look back and forth between them, not sure how this will play out. Should you leave? You make like you're going to walk out and Elvis grabs your hand.
"Stay. Please." He says it quietly. You nod and brace yourself for what's to come.
"You could've told me." Beth's words are solid ice.
"I was waiting for the right time." She throws her head back and laughs. You and Elvis look at each other. That was not what you were expecting.
"The right time? Is there ever a right time to tell your wife you're a cheating bastard?"
"No, but I didn't want to just drop it on you like this."
"Too late for that. The bomb is dropped."
"I know that now and I'm sorry, Beth, I really am."
"You're sorry?" You look at him too. How sorry? Sorry enough to change his mind? A shiver of fear runs through you.
"Yes. I'm sorry that you had to find out this way. I'm sorry that I didn't have the balls to just tell you earlier." You exhale. The fear goes away.
"Why didn't you?"
"I didn't want to hurt you..."
"Hurt me?" She laughs again and it's a cold, derisive laugh.
"Elvis, I've been fucking my boss for almost a year now." His mouth drops open and your eyes are wide with surprise.
"You really thought I needed to travel that much?" More of her cold laughter fills the room. "I've been leaving our house with a suitcase full of lingerie to stay in a hotel downtown with him for MONTHS. I wondered why you never seemed to notice or care. Now I know." You're both still standing there in shock.
"So does this mean...?"
"Our marriage is over? Yes, you ignorant fool. I can't believe it lasted as long as it did." He tightens his grip on your hand and you can't tell if it's excitement or anger. Please let it be excitement.
"I'll call my lawyer on Monday. I'm taking the house and selling it. Hope you can stay with your whore." She gestures to you.
"BETH--"
"I'm done." She holds up her hands. "Next time I see you, I'll have papers for you to sign. Get your shit out of my house this week. I'll be downtown." She turns and walks outside, slamming the door behind her.
Elvis turns to you with a look of stunned disbelief.
"Out of all the scenarios I imagined for how that would happen, I never dreamed it would go like that." He laughs and throws his arms around your waist, pulling you into another deep kiss.
"I'm all yours, baby."
You relax for the first time since you heard her voice and let yourself get lost in him for a bit. Then, you gather the chairs and go back outside to the party. Only Susan notices that something is different, which is impressive, since the two of you are practically glowing. But you don't care anymore. Let the scandal unfold. The worst part is over.
You take the kids trick or treating together and then go back to your house at the end. He helps you get the kids in bed and then wraps himself around you on the couch.
"I love you, baby." You lean against his chest and whisper back.
"I love you too."
How did you get so lucky?

The next morning at breakfast, you sit Jane and Michael down and try to explain to them that things will be changing. All Michael catches is that Elvis will be moving in soon and they'll have more time for comics and model cars. Jane is a little more mature about the whole thing.
"So you don't have a wife anymore, Mr. Presley?"
"Well, I won't very soon. And you can call me Elvis." She looks at him suspiciously.
"And then we can be a real family... Elvis?"
"Would you like us to be a real family?" A warm smile spreads across her face.
"More than anything." She climbs out of her chair, walks over to him, and hugs his neck, giving him a small peck on the cheek.
