First & Shadow

You got it right!

First & Shadow started as a scrapped idea I had for whumptober last year, I thought it would be interesting to have two technically dead characters come back to life (First hero and Shadow Link from four swords) and interact, but I didn’t have time to flesh it out and scrapped it.

I don’t really know where I’m going with it, I mostly just wanted to mess around with the idea and that’s what the doc is. But hey, maybe I’ll figure out what to do with it. If nothing else, I could always use it for whumptober next year XD

“I know you said you don’t care. But my name is Link,” he says after a minute, voice quiet. The shadowy boy jerks, then stills, staring at him with narrowed eyes for a few long moments.

“I already know a Link,” he says finally, voice still weak. “I’m not calling you that. Got any nicknames?”

Link grimaces. “No good ones I’m afraid.”

The shadowy boy studies him for a minute, red eyes trailing across his face and down his bloodstained tunic. They pause on the scarf that Link only just now realizes is still around his neck, and the boy lets out a quiet hum.

“Scarf,” he says finally. Link can’t help raising an eyebrow.

“Scarf?”

“It’s not like you’ve got anything else distinct about you,” the shadowy boy snaps, but Link only smiles.

“It will do. Scarf is fine.”

“Good. Cause it’s what I’m using, like it or not,” the boy mumbles, and Link closes his eyes and leans against the wall, the smile still on his lips.
