Imagine Camila Noceda getting all of Luz’s messages and videos when the gang make it to the Human Realm.

Imagine Camila unable to go to sleep that first night at the sight of five traumatized children (four with nowhere else to go) and checking her phone to see an endless list of text notifications.

Imagine Camila scrolling all the way to the top and seeing just how many messages Luz sent, even if they all initially failed to send. Her daughter had never stopped thinking about her.

Imagine Camila watching the first message, falling in love with the cutie pie that is King, happy that Luz had an adult to confide in with Eda (though for now she questions how reliable Eda is given that she had King put an apple on his head and tried to throw a spear at it), downright terrified when she finds out that the night her mija came home wasn’t the only time her daughter came face to face with the tyrannical emperor. 

Imagine Camila worried when she finds out that her daughter and her found family (because that’s what they are, she can see it in the way Luz interacts with them) have now become bounty hunters to put food on the table. She’s worried about what and how much her daughter had to eat in the Demon Realm.

Imagine Camila having questions about whatever the fuck Hooty is. For all her veterinarian experience and having a daughter in love with fantasy, she can’t for the life of her figure out what creature he’s supposed to be.

Imagine Camila being so proud of Luz making such nice friends in Willow and Gus. How, after years of seeing her daughter being rejected for who she was, Camila now saw Luz find others who not only understood her weirdness, but loved her for it.

Imagine Camila wanting to jump for joy as she hears Luz gush about Amity and them getting together. She’s so happy her daughter found love, even if it was a realm away. She wishes Manny could see their daughter now.

Imagine Camila choosing to keep quiet about Lumity because she knows Luz probably has her own plans about coming out and she doesn’t want to take that away from her. She wants her daughter to come out to her on her own terms (she makes a note to look at LGBT parenting books later).

Imagine Camila having so many questions about Hexside (what kind of detention pit was that?!), but thinking she might ultimately let Luz go because it was the first time she’d ever seen Luz excited about going to school.

Imagine Camila watching message after message and feeling so happy for Luz and the life she had managed to make in this whole other world.

Imagine Camila’s happiness starting to fade as she realizes that Luz found that happiness far away from her and wondering if Camila was indeed the problem the whole time.

And imagine what’s left of Camila’s happiness dissipating entirely as she remembers that so much of her daughter’s new life (the people, the places, the events) may not even exist anymore.

A/n: Author stops writing comfort scenrios challge (Impossible)

Amity: As a person who has been the bully she's honestly more pissed. While she knows people bully others for many different reasons she can't help but project how she was feeling when bullying Willow onto your bullies. And she does not like her past self. She doesn't know quite how to comfort you she just hugs you while rubbing your back. When she confronts them she didn't want to be too mean. But Amity also does not take others hurting the ones she loves lightly.

Luz: Feels horrible that you had to deal with that. She is also pissed at the bullies. But before she can do anything to them she has to make sure you're okay. She tells you how perfect you are and that the bullies were clearly lying. She yells at them like a lot. Depending on how bad the bullying was she either has a sore throat or completely lost her voice.

Willow: She hears that! Which made her fume. Plants slightly crack the floor when you're telling her about it as she's trying to contain her anger. Once you were done she calms herself down and reassured you that you are amazing. She soon leaves to confront them. The next day not only are they not bullying you anymore, but they are also extremely nice to you.

Hunter: The (wo)man was too stunned to speak. In his eyes you're perfect so how anyone can be mean to you is beyond him. Also, the people in the Empores Coven weren't exactly the nicest to him. So if he has even a slight idea of what you're going thru he's super upset. When he talks to the bullies he subconsciously uses some of the fear tactics he learned at the coven. Which works, to say the least.

Vee:  She feels horrible. She's not sure how to help but tells you how much she loves you and spends a bunch of time with you. She is too nervous to go to your bullies. But Masha looks suspiciously like they got into a few fist-fights.

Raine: Imdeate hugs and cuddles <3. They bring you many blankets. They don't want to yell at the bullies right away. So instead they just lecture them. It's surprisingly the second most effective tactic only second to Willow's. While it might seem kinda lame (Because it was.) But imagine getting "I'm not mad I'm just disappointed"-ed by the former head of the bard coven.

Eda: she is not great at comforting you. But she picks you up and finds your bully. She pointed to said bully and asked if it was them. When you told her it was she just straight-up hexed them in front of them. Like didn't even try to hide it. Which is made slightly weirder considering that probably would have left you alone if the Owl Lady threatened them.

Emira: Oh she is mc-fucking pissed. But before that, she gives hugs you and rubs a circle on your back. Also maybe a massage. She decides not to confront them, she uses a bunch of illusions to mess with them. Does it make them think they're going insane? A little. But they also did psychological to you, so an eye for an eye as they say.

Edric: He is very sad. He lets you speak as long as you want. Once you're done he leaves for a second and makes a call to Emira and Amity. He then cuddles and watches tv with you. He also keeps complimenting you. Once Em and Amity come back it's pretty dang obvious they got into a fight. Mainly because despite being roughed up Emira kept laughing.

The Collector: Frist of all if you bully the Collector's friend then you're the biggest idiot in the world. When Terra was even slightly mean to King They turned her into a puppet. But they bring you a bunch of plushies and play with you. Once the Collector goes to the bullies you have to tell them not to hurt the bullies. He pinky swears to let you know he really won't. Well, whatever he did it definitely worked. But just to let you know, if it wasn't for you the Venn diagram of people who are mean to you and people on the missing person list would be a circle.

Lilith: Oh no, oh fuck no. Not happening. She gets Hooty to comfort you while she leaves. Side note Hooty is weirdly good at comforting people. Any back with Lilith she is pissed and yelling at the bullies. She is not above threats. Anyway, they won't be going anywhere near you for a while.

Gus: He was also A victim of Boscha's and Amity's bullying.  Very upset. Y'know what Emira did but? Yeah, he does that but all at once. Like that one scene with Bria's illusions. Listen he is not going to tolerate any more bullying.

the thing about these guys is that no matter how mundane you make it, they can make anything into a situation. that's just the guys they are. so we put them in a Walmart.

Marn is an employee with a great customer service voice. She's keeping it together in the face of some truly wild statements and requests. One man keeps asking for frootie hooties, a brand of cereal that he insists is real and everyone is just refusing to sell to him, and she's spent twenty minutes trying to tell him that they just don't have it in stock

Lye and Es are having an animated conversation in the clothing area, where she is examining various colorful dresses and he is distractedly picking things off of nearby shelves and putting them back down. The conversation started at how they got kicked out of dayward yve's novelty store and is now about whether stealing should be more or less of a crime than manslaughter, because it's not as bad as killing but it is on purpose. People are trying not to pay attention to them. Eventually they are asked to leave, at which point it is revealed that lye has about two hundred dollars worth of items in his pockets and es has some candles she liked and a new pair of shoes in hers. They are both barred from Walmart.

Duvall hates it here. It's loud, he hates the lights, the aisles make no sense, he can't find anything he's looking for, and people keep coming up to him to ask him where things are. He doesn't even work here. Why do people assume he works here? He's not even wearing any Walmart merchandise. Is that what it's called when you're an employee? Merchandise? Well, it's what it would be called if he wears it, which he never will, because he doesn't work here and never wants to. Have a nice day ma'am.

Pickman is slowly marching her way through the aisles one at a time, peering at her shopping list and holding a tiny shopping basket in one hand. She has to be very careful not to knock the shelves over sometimes. Just trying to get groceries. People are nervously avoiding her. Says "Hey, you" to some poor employee to ask where the milk and cigarettes are. Just grunts at everything else. When she's at the checkout, the guy there asks "Did you find everything you're looking for?", and she just says "No." and leaves

Chine comes out of the bathroom with a live rat in his hand. People scream. The manager finally comes up to him like "Sir, you can't have rats in here." They say "Oh, she's not mine. She was just having trouble opening the door." Gets a big meat on the bone at the deli and nothing else. When he asks how much it costs, they just say it's on the house and try to get him to leave as soon as possible. They go like "Oh, really? Are you sure? I have some money." and sound surprised but pleased, like they're being done a personal favor. The employees insist. He's like "Alright, thanks!" and then asks the rat if she wants anything

King is connected to the Collector now as many theorized and they know now too! Only a matter of time until he tells Belos.

Dropping bombs the size of titans! Hooty's face is everything.

That jab at Disney, I love it!

I love how Steve had one line in season 1 but the fandom just fell in love with him anyway! To see him grow from a background character to now a side character is amazing! I love him so much.

This broke my heart. They love each other so much they don't wanna lose one another. God I really thought Luz would call Eda mom in these tense scenes. Something like, "please don't send me away mom!"

All she wanted was a fun summer learning magic. Now she's getting arrested for what, the second time?

OK I need a young Eda Hexside series now! All four of them went to the same school and from their conversations, Raine and Darius hung out too in some way.

I fucking lost it at this scene. Darius getting angry, Raine building up a dramatic reveal and Luz with her hoodie! Screw it, we're sticking with the CATTs!

FINALLY!! We've waited so long for this and next week Luz finally gets her Palisman! I'm going to love whatever it is, whether it's a blue jay, bat, snake, a chimera of all, or something else entirely. Another fantastic episode, Dana and her crew keep knocking it out of the park. Two episodes left of season 2 and I can tell they are gonna destroy us!

I used to be excited abt Luz joining all tracks but in the end it turned out to be pointless

I get that she's a magicless human but she could've still made more potions or used a crystal ball to perform oracle magic like she did in The First Day, or maybe used an instrument for bard magic but she never did any of that. Hell the show could've even gotten her to figure out glyph combos relating to different coven magic but it never did that either

Even after she gets Stringbean/titan powers the only magic she uses are basic ass glyphs and energy blasts

The only "coven magic" she DOES use are plant glyphs and the invisibility glyph combo which ig could technically count as illusion magic

imo Luz joining all tracks only served to add to the show's whole "LuZ gEtS eVeRyThInG sHe WaNtS" shtick

So this actually just gets into the fact that Luz always just gets more magic rather than learns about magic. This is because the show doesn't see becoming a witch as learning a culture, refining your craft or how you use your magic. It is simply a question of IF you have magic. The more magic you have, the more witch you are.

It's even in the third episode. Willow is weak at magic so she is only half a witch. Eda is the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles not because she appears to use her magic in interesting or unique ways no one else does (the interesting spell she ever casts is the Hooty summoning) but because she just has a lot of magic. HELL! This is reinforced in S1 with Hooty's Moving Hassle. The ritual can be done by anyone, even fucked up like in Luz's case, and what matters is not how you did it or how good you are at rituals but simply the magic that is inherently within you.

It is the EPITOME of a boring magic system where power is EVERYTHING. This is why the only utility spells in the ENTIRE SHOW are Feather Fall, one of the most useful utility spells in all of D&D, and invisibility, one of the most powerful spells in all of magic arguably. Oh, and of course, teleportation. Mind you... All of these are just convenient narratively instead of interesting. Need a break in a fight? Invisibility. Want to potentially throw your MC off a cliff where they can't be followed? Feather Fall (though actually shout outs to the fact that Feather Fall may as well not exist in the show. I actually like that Luz has a spell that's effectively just because she figured out a spell rather than being OP.) Need to get from one place to another quickly? Why do you think like half the covens have teleportation magic?

But otherwise it's A: How hard can I hit X? or B: How big can I make X? Usually both. Those are your measures for not only how good a spell is but how worthwhile the caster is.

These are the same sorts of people who don't understand that "Just Fireball" is a meme.

So with ALL of that preamble: What the fuck was the show supposed to do with Luz wanting to learn lots of different styles of magic? Half of these covens are never represented in the main cast. Beast Keeping, Healing, Oracle, Construction and Bard are just... Not a thing. And no, Raine doesn't count because Raine is barely in the show and Bard magic as shown by them is whatever the fuck you want. Admittedly, it is still more of a showing than pillars and power glyphs for construction or sir not appearing for Healing. They aren't shown though because they all require actual, you know, thought? Interesting situations that can't be solved by punching? Or they're redundant. Vines and construction pylons are pretty damn similar, without getting into how much abomination goo is used to also just be more vines.

This is also why Luz's spells stay so basic and showing off her/the glyph's power is just a matter of how big it is. The biggest energy blast we see in the ENTIRE SHOW that is a spell... Is when Gus hesitantly uses a fire glyph. But look how cool it is! And how he's a super witch for it! Where the fuck are those for Luz who at least uses them with confidence and experience. But that's the easy way to show she's strong. She just has big magic. She practically takes out the Selkidamus by herself. She just needs help dragging it back on the ship. Why despite no training and the shortening not having happened yet?

Shrug.

This is part of why TOH's best episodes... Aren't adventure episodes. When they're just tackling slice of life stuff, it doesn't have to pretend to care about its magic. Characters can just mostly ignore it until the action set piece. Grom is just like that where the magic isn't as important as the emotions and it's not treated that way. People LOVE the Lumity stuff in Looking Glass Ruins because despite promising a forbidden library, it is the most boring library ever to exist... But the emotions are cute and good.

And mind you, as someone who says characters are the most important element, this shouldn't be problem. Your emotions should come first but... How often do you get a Grom where the magic is actually a part of the emotions and how much more often do you get an Eclipse Lake where the magic is just a McGuffin and then an action set piece that is divorced from the emotions of the rest of the episode? Especially since no one ever fucking talks during combat.

And this ESPECIALLY true for Luz. Literally two base glyphs are gotten randomly, not even as a payoff for some emotional element to the show, and ALL of her combo glyphs are just given to her. (Shout out btw to having half her glyphs be unearned BEFORE even S1 is done. *eye twitch* ) The only two glyphs that she gains in any sort of emotional way are A: NOMINALLY the light glyph is given to Luz as a reward for listening to King as otherwise she wouldn't have checked her phone. It's just a shame that the lesson there is "Treat your roommate as a person and not entertainment." B: The ice glyph is a reward for BAD BEHAVIOR. She straight would not have gotten it if not for having stolen the wand and gotten over half the people there potentially killed. GOOD JOB LUZ!

Otherwise, her glyphs are just a gift. Her way of being able to cast magic. After the light glyph, they aren't even that big of a deal to her and why not? She can cast magic. She is a witch. And that happens in episode FOUR. At that point, Hexside isn't about learning to become a witch. It's just getting to spend all day studying the one subject she cares about: Magic. What does she actually want to do with magic? Her personal goals in life? Why would those matter when she can just be MAGIC!?

This is part of why the ending for Luz sucks so much. Instead of, I dunno, something actually thematically appropriate and shows how much they've grown like becoming a therapist for kids when you yourself had lots of toxic mental habits as a kid or a herpetologist because you learned to appreciate the weird and gross in life, especially Amphibians, you can just... BE MAGIC! Learn everything. Get fifteen doctorates and sit on your ass.

Because what is important to being 'your own witch' is not what you do with your magic, it is just how much you have, at least according to TOH. How in the world you define your character's arc with their fundamental element, in how they learn from their mentor, with that mindset, I don't know. I don't think TOH did either.

But hey, it looks real cool when she is given ALL the magic in the finale and that makes up for it, right? sigh

I did delete a section on Illusion magic btw. I decided deliberating how little it is used, especially in a way that isn't just focused on fixing a combat problem like the rest of these (which is about all of three times, at least on purpose), just wasn't useful. Besides, I've talked in the past about how TOH's illusion magic just mostly sucks because illusion magic requires creativity and that is the last thing the magic in TOH is.

PRANKING MY BEST FRIEND GONE WRONG (NOT CLICKBAIT)

a/n: ahskdhs them being in magic college now gives me so many ideas for shenanigans. so here’s one in the first bit of something i’ll eventually move to ao3. sneak peak

This prank was gonna be hilarious. Gus couldn’t wait to get to the dorm room he shared with Hunter. With near-silent magic doors, they could manage to sneak in without disturbing the grimwalker. Willow giggled behind him as they crept.

The whole thing had been Willow’s idea in the first place. It didn’t take much convincing to get Gus on board as well. The two of them had been pulling an all-nighter at Willow & Luz’s to prepare for their exams in the morning, and they needed a little fun and adrenaline to wake themselves up again before school started. Why not engage in a little tomfoolery?

It wasn’t too big a prank. They could go all out if they had Luz with them too, but she had been out of her and Willow’s dorm that night. Like she had been frequently.

Willow had assumed at first that Luz was just going home to her mother or Eda, but as she ran into both Eda and Camila in a bar one night and they had no clue what she was talking about, that had proved not to be the case.

She had no idea where Luz was going, and Luz was always able to successfully dodge the question when she brought it up. Whatever. Gave her an excuse to spend more time hanging with Gus, just the two of them. Which wasn’t something they got to do too often ever since the rest of the Hexsqaud came into their lives.

The target for their little prank had originally been Amity, however. Gus shot that down. Amity might actually kill them if they get in between her and the few hours she actually sleeps. Especially in the wee hours of a Friday morning. He did Not need to try and get abomination goo out of his hair only hours before school, ultimately fail, and have to go anyway, all gooped up. Matty wouldn’t be able to shut up about it and would tease him all day.

Willow was happy enough to change her victim to Hunter. She had been a bit frustrated with him lately. And in typical Willow fashion, had been bottling that frustration right up.

He’s a sweet guy, really, and he’d never do something to hurt her on purpose. It’s just that he wouldn’t man-up and ask her out already. It’s been years. She’s made it abundantly clear that she likes him and he keeps dragging his feet.

She’s tried asking him out herself, but every time he seems to just not get that it’s a date. Inviting people along, telling people he’s “just hanging out with Willow” when they ask him what he’s doing, introducing her as His Friend Willow. No awareness whatsoever. So fucking oblivious.

She’s used to think it was just his self-esteem issues, back when they were kids. Lately, however, he’s been just as confident in himself and his skills as he was (or at least pretended he was) back in his Golden Guard days.

There really wasn’t a good reason Willow could find for why he was refusing to own up to their relationship. Well. If she was going to lose sleep over him, he was going to lose sleep over her.

And Gus.

Speaking of, she pulled out her scroll to start filming as she followed him down the hall, soon arriving at Gus’s dorm. Gus unlocked the door with a spell, and they began to sneak in.

Hunter was asleep up on the top bunk, his hand dangling over the edge through the railing. Just a big lump of blankets sleeping peacefully. Perfect.

He was snoring just as loudly as ever. Usually, Gus liked the drone of Hunter’s snoring. It was comforting. But now’s the time.

Gus summoned an illusionary megaphone, and after nodding to Willow making sure she had the camera on and the livestream up, started his show in a flourish.

Their old Hexside buddies were going to crack up. Hunter would too, once he was fully awake.

“GOOD MORNING BONESBORO!~” Gus’s illusion megaphone blared in his iconic showman voice.

“GUS SHUT THE FUCK UP OR IM GOING TO FEED YOU TO HOOTY!” Luz raged as she bolted upright beside hunter.

Holy Titan.

August 1984

Eddie hated goodbyes.

After his mom died, he got it in his head that it was because he said goodbye to her at the drop-off that morning that she never came home.

Wayne had held him for hours as he begged and cried and pleaded for whatever power that was in the universe, whatever God, to just bring her back. To start the day over so he could say "see you later" instead of goodbye.

But there were no merciful Gods, and no do-overs. Once something was put out into the world, it couldn't be taken back.

So he didn't say goodbye anymore. Sometimes he didn't say anything at all. A clap on the shoulder could do just as much as any words could.

And now, as his friends were about to leave on the most harrowing of journeys--college--he decided a "good luck" party was more important than a "goodbye."

It was nearing the end of summer now, still as humid as ever. Belongings were already packed into boxes and last minute trips were taken to Kmart and the Bed Bath and Beyond out by Muncie Mall to grab dorm essentials. Textbooks were purchased and summer jobs abandoned with the empty promise of shifts given during holiday breaks.

Mickey and his parents would hit the road for such-and-such University in the morning, and instead of letting him sleep in his comfortable bed for the last time, Eddie made the whole gang sleep under the stars out by Lover's Lake.

Of course, like any camp out or sleepover, there was no real sleep happening. Instead you were all stuffing yourselves with burnt marshmallows, sipping rapidly-warming beer, and scaring each other shitless with ghost stories and other tall tales.

Well, trying to at least.

"...so they say, if you put baby powder on the back of the car and you sit on the train tracks, your car will roll off the tracks themselves and you can see the handprints of the ghosts in the baby powder."

The boys all boo'd and threw marshmallows at Dave, who flinched and defended himself.

"A ghost train dude? Really?"

"It's not a ghost train, it's ghost kids!"

"If I wanted to fall asleep I would have just stayed home."

"LAME!"

Eddie felt you shake under his arm as you giggled at their antics. Dave's eyes immediately zeroed in on you.

"You too?" he whined, and Eddie didn't know whether or not he should feel a little proud that the younger boys wanted to impress you too.

"Your story was good, Davey," you insisted. "Not as scary as we were all expecting, though."

"Alright, what kind of story do you have then?" Jack challenged you from across the fire.

"Probably not a good one."

"You're a fucking liar," Eddie scoffed, hoping that it would get you to be a little braver and tell the gang one of the many stories you told him. You shifted to look at him with a big smile and warning eyes. He simply ignored you and turned to the already-captivated audience.

"She's a liar," he repeated. "Before she came to Hawkins, she was driving through Ohio and pulled over to ask a group of people who were on the side of the road for directions and when one of them got closer...it was a Frog Man."

All of the stories of the night had been tall tales meant to shock; even so, the boys instantly lost their minds.

"What the fuck?"

"What do you mean a Frog Man? He was a frog...and a man?"

"What did he look like!"

"AND," he continued proudly. "She maintained eye contact the whole time and when he blinked it went--"

"Shut up Eddie!" You slapped your hand over his mouth before he could keep talking and he licked your palm to get you to release him. You turned back to the boys sheepishly. "Ok it was late and it was dark and when I told Eddie this story I might have been exaggerating because I was a little high."

Ok. That might have been true. Eddie had coerced you into smoking. But, he knew even under the influence, you were not typically one to lie. In fact, it just got you to loosen up more. Spill some of your many secrets.

Just not the ones he was dying to know deep down.

Still, the boys started to ask their questions.

"Ok so was it a frog man or was it not?"

"You know the kids book Frog and Toad? Just like that but no little vest."

"Did he ribbit?"

"He didn't...but one of his buddies for sure did."

"HOLY SHIT ANOTHER ONE!?"

"Yeah."

"Did you get out of the car?"

"Well, no that wouldn't have been smart," you laughed judgmentally as if that was the most odd and dangerous thing being said all night. "But it was the middle of the night. I just needed to know how to get back onto the highway."

The discussion progressed, more amongst the others than you and Eddie, about the logistics of the Frog Man and his Frog Friends, and what they might do if they ever crossed paths with them.

You snuggled back into Eddie's embrace and watched them, the two of you making comments occasionally, especially as they started debating whether the Frog Man would walk like normal or if he would hop.

"Ok. What else have you seen though?" Jeff finally piped up and shuffled a little closer. "Or what did you think you've seen? A ghost, a vampire...a hellhound or something?"

"Uhh..." You tripped over your words and reached up to fiddle with the cross on your necklace. "Well nothing like that but..."

Eddie knew that little tell of yours, how you couldn't stop playing with your necklace when you were nervous. Restless. It was sudden and unexpected and he frowned.

Why were you so nervous all of a sudden?

He pressed a kiss to your temple and said a few words of encouragement.

You took a deep breath and went along with your next story, something much more elaborate and cryptic, falling into the theme of the night. And you didn't once reach for your necklace again.

But as the festivities began to wind down, and everyone started to doze off, Eddie couldn't help but wonder...

They were just stories. Weren't they?

okay i might be going insane but doesnt this the mask hunter wears where him and luz go to see if belos is in the basement or whatever KINDA look like the golden guard mask

like it has the general shape of it in terms of eye holes and stuff

it even has the little colored bit at the top and idk if its just me but when i saw that scene i totally just got reminded to his time of the golden guard not to mention he literally went 'this should be relatively painless, if you do what we (I) say' AND HE SAID THAT AS THE GOLDEN GUARD.

oh yeah they also both have the little line thingy.

but i do think theres something to be made with the mask being an owl (resembling hooty kinda?). i feel like its meant to show him changing and becoming more like the hexsquad than anything and showing us his alignment.

kinda going with the mask on mask off vibes that this show likes. when he takes off the golden guard mask you expect an adult someone more than capable of doing whatever belos wants. you expect someone mature and not saying that hunter isnt mature (as he's matured faster than most) yet when the mask is off you get a fucking kid.

a kid who is CLEARLY abused and or has been through some shit as we see in the first episode with his mask off.

when he takes the owl mask off though you expect a kid. you expect a kid who is just messing around who's (probably) happy. yet when he takes it off he's just crying and mostly because luz called him family which i think is just so goddamn sweet.

eventually AU, Understanding Willow episode--the Martlet shows up at the Owl House for whatever reason and before he can become horrified by the fact that Eda is allowing two teenagers to run around another teenager's mindscape, Gus dramatically points at him like "THIS MAN. THIS IS THE MAN I'M GOING TO INTERVIEW."

Eda is just like "Goops I will be impressed if you get this guy to give you a single piece of information about himself."

probably the only reason Jasper doesn't immediately turn around and leave like "I'm out" is because Hooty prevents it for some reason. at the same time tho he's probably like "shit aren't you Perry Porter's kid? crap you probably DO actually know how to interview someone."

does Gus actually get to interview the Martlet? is the rest of the episode just Jasper dodging questions, metaphorically and literally? idk, but personally I think it'd be funny if Jasper answered some questions, except in the most roundabout weird-but-technically-not-a-lie way possible, and afterwards when Luz reads Gus's interview transcript she obsesses over those answers and actually manages to glean some information from them.

Jasper shows up missing like three fingers that got bitten off by a jackalope or something and he's like EDAAAAAA and walks in and sees what's going on and he's like what the fuck. Eda. You're going to give at LEAST one of these kids brain damage. And then Gus is all over him for an interview and he's like nah.

Only for eda to be like. You want your fingers back Marty? Talk to the kid before he talks my ear off. Jasper agrees he will do the interview but will impart no personal information. He gets his fingers back and immediately turns to dip, but Hooty just snatches him back up and plops him down in the living room like YOU MADE A PROMISE MARTY, HOOT! and hawk hunter is also pecking his head like oh my god at least supervise the unconscious child on the floor for gods sake

I'm sure Jasper thinks he will just answer a few dumb questions and be done but Gus is a wily little bastard that gets him twisted up in questions genuinely worried he's going to out himself. He leaves just a little bit terrified of the porter kid.

Love that toh never tries to explain whatever the fuck is going on with Hooty, like everything we get to know just raises more questions. Eda just created him. He can swallow people whole and regurgitate them, he can skin himself and puts his skin like clothes to dry, he can get out of the house and the whole thing is horrifying and leaves behind still beating organs, he has several shark like teeth through out his throat. Is any of this explained? No n i love it, i hope he keeps getting worse❤

Request from wattpad: Can I request a male reader scenario where (Y/N) is revealed to be a Titan? You can do this with any character.

You've never really liked the emperor's coven or covens in general. Which was kind of ironic since you were dating THE Golden Guard. Not to mention you're also friends with Eda, Luz, and King. Speaking of which, you have plans to hang out with them. You started walking to the Owl House. Once you arrived at the house you heard yelling. You opened the door confused.

"Um, is everything okay in here?" You asked. "We caught Hooty about to eat our mail." Luz sighed, exasperated. "There was a bug! It's not my fault your mail was under it!" Hooty argued. "Whatever I got the letter before he could do anything," Eda said, clearly annoyed. She looked at the letter. "Oh, King, the letter is for you!" Eda said, handing the letter to King. It was black with fancy gold lettering labeled "To King."

King scanned through the letter. "Wait, I think they might be my family!" "Really!?" you exclaimed. You and King were the same species but neither of you had any clue what the species was. "Maybe, we could find out what our species is!" You said, "Maybe we could invite Hunter. Y'know for protection." Luz rolled her eyes. "Are you sure your boyfriend won't kill us or something?" "Please? He's the only person who can really protect us." You pleaded. Luz sighed. "Fine, invite him."

"Alright give me a minute." You texted him on your scroll. After a few minutes of waiting he responded. "Okay, he wants to meet at the marketplace." "Then let's go!" King said. Once you arrived you started to look around, Soon you spotted a familiar golden mask. You grabbed King and Luz's hands and ran to him. "Hey Hunt- I mean Golden Guard." "Hello, Y/n." He greeted. "How have you been, jerk?" Luz said bitterly. "Hello to you too human." Hunter rolled his eyes behind his mask.

"So, Y/n, where are we going?" Hunter asked. "Wait, did you not tell him?" King asked. You shrugged. "Eh, I guess it slipped my mind. So, we might be finding out what species I and King are." "Huh? Y/n, that's a huge deal!" Hunter said excitedly. You giggled. Hunter smiled and cleared his throat. "By the way, we will be going on one of the emperor's ships. So, Luz, please try not to steal anything." Luz narrowed her eyes. "Is it Salty's ship?" You asked, "No, he stopped working for Belos." Hunter stated. Luz smugly grinned and said, "Thankfully." Hunter grumbled something and started walking a little faster.

"Well, here we are," Hunter said, arriving at a ship. Everyone boarded the ship. "Dang, I didn't bring my hat," Luz said. "I think finding out what I and King are will make up for that." You joked. "True, true." Soon a pale, biped demon with eyes scattered around her body arrived. She walked to the front of the ship and began steering. "Wow, it feels nice to be on a high sea adventure again!" Luz cheered. "Eh, I don't know. Last time we were on a ship I almost got kidnapped. And you almost got killed." King piped up. "Eh, what's the chance of that happening twice in a row?"

You walked to the edge of the boat. You looked at the ocean. And, woah, the view was breathtaking- WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT. You immediately backed away from the finger(?)But that definitely wasn't from the boiling isles titan. "Hey, guys do you know what that is?" You asked. "No clue," Hunter said. The boat turned towards the huge finger-like shape. "That's where we are supposed to go!"

The boat arrived by the finger and everyone got off. Once you all walked closer you saw writing on the wall with a triangle shape in the middle. "Wait King do you have that piece of stone, or whatever that was?" Luz asked. "Yes?" "See if it fits!" King put the stone in the hole and it fit perfectly. Suddenly the finger shape lit up. All of you got sucked into a beam. "Weh!?" You and King said in unison. "Here we go!" Luz said.

Once you teleported you were left in the air. Hunter got Flapjack out and caught you before you fell. While Luz and King fell. "Oh, my Titan, are you okay!?" You yell down. "I think we're good!" Luz yelled back up. Hunter flew you both down. Once you hit the ground you saw a figure approach.

Once he got close enough he spoke. "You dare trespass on the scared-" The man gasped "By the huntsman, tis' King! My name is Tarak. Hail and well-met." "Uh, yeah, tis' King!" King then gestured to the three of you, "This is Luz the human/friend/sister. This is Y/n he is here because he also wants to find out what he is! And that is the Golden Guard or Hunter?" You elbowed Hunter in the side. "Hm? Oh!" Hunter quickly took off his mask.

"Your warrior-ship." Luz bowed. "Did you send me that letter? Are-a-are you my..." "Father? Alas, no. Nor is he here. But I did send the letter." King looked down dejected, and Tarak walked closer to both of you. "But by looking and King and now you, Y/n. I can tell your parents were one of us! Both of your dads must have passed down their skulls, didn't they?" Tarak said, "Now we celebrate. Everyone will be happy to meet both of you." "Who's 'everyone'?" Luz questioned. Tarak leads you up the mountain. "Welcome to Titan Trapper Island." The view of the island was beautiful, King gasped.

As you walked you saw many other "Titan Trappers" doing some training and others just doing their daily chores. " Wow! I've never seen so many demons that look like me!" Your eyes shone as you looked through the town. "I know, it's exciting isn't it!" You said to King. "We are Titan Trappers. Under oath to protect the world from giant monsters of death and destruction." Tarak chuckled nervously, "But, uh, not many of us have seen a live one, of course." Tarak started walking and gestured for the four of you to come with him.

"Wait, I thought Titans were extinct?' Luz questioned while she walked. Luz gasped looking up at a huge statue. "Not all of them. The Grand Huntsmen says one remains, so we sharpen our spears until the vile creature rears its head, then a new hunt can begin!" Many other Titan trappers circled you. "And now dear King and Y/n you can join us and become a titan trapper yourself!" "Weh?" "Wha-" Both you and King questioned. "Om my gosh, guys that's amazing!" Luz said, rushing to both of your sides. But Hunter got to you and hugged you first. So Luz just hugged King instead. "Well, we don't know any Titans. But the world could definitely use your help." Luz said. "The Boiling Isles has been having a lot of weird attacks lately." You added nervously rubbing the back of your neck.

A Trapper stepped up. "Any enemy of yours is an enemy of ours." The rest of the Trappers cheered. They carried King away. Tarak walked up to you three. "But we can make no vows. for that, you must consult our elder, that wisest hunter of them all, Bill!" Luz gasps, "Is that short for something?" "Nope, just Bill. He's so cool, he actually met our God the Grand Huntsmen! He's my best friend! No big deal." Hunter looked at him suspiciously.

Suddenly King came running back. "Guys! Look at what they gave me!" He pulled out a huge weapon with a mouth that was actively biting. Luz fell over "Oh!" Luz exclaimed, "That looks awfully pointy buddy.." "Don't worry it's mostly paper mache" King put it down with a huge crash. "...And bone. They're going to show me their Titan Trapper ways, Luz!" "Don't you mean our ways?" You said. "How about me and Hunter go see the elder, and in the meantime, you and Y/n learn all you guys can about being Titan Trappers." "This is a dream come true!" He jumped onto Luz, "Come on Y/n!" "Wait, King, how about you? We can take turns so it can be a personal experience for both of us." King thought for a moment, "Okay!" And with that, he ran off. "Just be careful!" Luz yelled. "I will!" King yelled back.

Tarak guided you, Luz, and Hunter, to Bill's door. "Here we are," Tarak said, "I shall take my leave. Tell Bill I said hi" "I want to talk with Y/n before we enter." Hunter said before pulling you aside. "What is it, Goldie?" You whispered, "I don't mean to sound rude but does this seem a little... suspicious to you?" "What do you mean?" You questioned. "I don't know, everyone seems a little weird. Like why were you and King so far from this island?" "That's what you were here to find out." You said and grabbed his arm, "Now let's go to the elder."

You all entered the room. "Hello?" Luz called out, "Wow look at all this stuff guys!" You and Luz excitedly looked around. Luz grabbed a sword "This is so cool!" After she said that it immediately disintegrated. You found a ribbon-like weapon and grabbed it. it started spinning into a spear shape. "Woah-ho-ho!" It then deflated. "Hpm." "Tarak is that you? How many times do I have to tell you to stop rummaging through my stuff!?" Luz walked forward. "Tarak's not here. It's just us." she chuckled. You and Hunter followed behind her. She cleared her throat and bowed. "Greetings, my name is-" "What's that? Speak up!" Bill said as he pulled the large ear trumpet to his ear. "You barge in like an angry Titan only to whisper like the wind?" Luz walked closer. "Greetings! Uh, these lowly travelers beg an audience with the great...Bill." She stuck her head into the ear trumpet, "Mayhaps we might perchance to venture to."

Bill cut her off, "Oh for the love of- Tarak sent you here, didn't he?" "He said you were the wisest of all the Trappers. And also your friend." "He says hi"You mentioned. "Of course he does. What do you want?" You decided to answer. "I and King decided to stop by to find out what we are. But now we would like to know if your mighty warrior can help stop the attack on the Boiling Isles." "Please understand Mister Bill there are a lot of people in danger," Luz added.

"Don't worry we'll help, but if you think those guys are evil you've never seen a live Titan. The children out there haven't either. Don't know a thing about their ravenous appetites, or their terrible cries! Even their babies act like little monarchs..." He paused, " The last living Titan, I saw it once before it disappeared. Its hateful roar blew out my eardrums, how did it go? Weh!" Your blood ran cold. "So, Titans are always hungry, act like monarchs, and say, "Weh?" Luz asked. "Hey, Bill do you have anything else to say about Titans?" Hunter piped up. Bill led you all to a room behind a curtain.

"This is more of a shrine to the Grand Huntsman. It's kind of a DIY project. But you can see all the skulls of the Titans we've slain!" Bill turned to you, "Say, who is you and your buddy's tailor? Your costumes look so real!" You quickly said, "Hey, Bill we all need to go the bathroom. Like, right now. I'll tell you when we get back." With that, all three of you left.

"Guys, we need to get King out of here!" You whisper-yelled. Luz and HUnter gave a quick nod and you all ran faster. When you got outside you looked around frantically for King. Hunter spotted him. He was with Tarak and many Titan Trappers surrounded them. Luz quickly drew up some invisibility glyphs and gave both you and Hunter one.

As you guys crept closer you heard Bill say, "Ugh, You're taking too long!" As he grabbed a cloth and threw it over King's head. Bill pulled out a knife and raised it above King's head. "Don't worry child we're almost done..." "Then we get to play catch, right?" Luz quickly got behind Bill and held his arms so he couldn't move. "Uhh, did you pull something, Bill?" Tarak asked. "I can't move." Luz threw him. "Wha- Huh?" What happening?" King asked. Luz set off a huge light glyph, grabbed King, and ran off with you guys.

Once you were all somewhat hidden you all took deep breaths. "King I'm so glad you're okay!" "What are you talking about!? We were just about to play catch?" Hunter rolled his eyes, "We just saved your life! Thanks would be appreciated!" King wiggled out of Luz's arms, "These guys wouldn't hurt me. They get me! They know what it's like to be left behind! Right Y/n?" "Oh, King... We aren't one of them." "Then what are we!?" You sighed and knelt down. "We are Titans." You said softly. King's eyes widened.

"Hark!" You all turned your heads to Tarak yelling, "Tis' the wretched spawns of-" Bill peaked out from the side of Tarak. "Shut up and get those Titans!" You all ran away. Suddenly you and King got pulled back. "King, Y/n!" Luz yelled. Luz threw a light glyph in the Titan trapper that pulled you back's face. He dropped you guys while you were high in the air. Hunter flew up as fast as he could and caught both you and King. The Trappers started aiming for you guys in the air. Hunter barely dodged all of them before he hit the ground.

Tarak appreciated Luz with fire. King jumped on Tarak. "Stop fighting! I'm one of you guys." Tarak threw King off. His skull mask came off with King. You gasped in disgust. King looked terrified. "You were never one of us. My brothers and sisters, a new hunt begins today." All the other Trappers took their masks off. Bill pushed Tarak to the side. "With this gift, the Grand Huntsman will return. And I shall ride cloaked in glory above all others!" Bill laughed. "You mean we right?" Tarak pulled out a spear, "You promised the Huntsman would grant all of us glory."

"Uh..." "How much have you been making up?"Luz asked. "Uh- Don't let the girl fool you! I'm totally not lying. Ha-hand me my spear." Tarak stood still. "Whatever, just give me that thing!" Bill jumped and took the spear. Hunter ran up and hit him with Flapjack." He turned around and all of you ran as fast as you could.

Luz found a hole shaped like the one when you first got here. She pulled out the stone and pushed it in. "Time to go home!" You all floated up and began falling. "Hunter grabbed you and Luz. Luz grabbed King's hand and pulled him up. "We can't let them get through!" You and King looked at each other and nodded. "Then step back." Both of you inhaled sharply. "Weh!!" The mountain began to crumble. You all ran as fast as you could and Hunter quickly made a shield. "Is everyone okay!?" Hunter yelled. You rubbed your arm. "C-can we go home..."

Soon the ship came back and you all got on it. Hunter sat down near the edge and you sat beside him. Hunter was shaking slightly. "What's wrong?" You asked. "Uncle must be lying about the Titan. I mean if two Titans are fine with wild magic then..." Hunter turned to you, "But I'm not the one who needs to be asked that. Are you okay?" You laughed. "Oh, ha! No not all." Hunter rubbed you back. "It's fine..." You said looking up sadly at the Titans carcass, "Or it will be it will be."

3x03 "the blackmail": i don't have a cool justification i'm sorry i just love the crocks and i think the fight scene is fantastic. i don't even care that we can see the stuntpeople's faces it's absolutely delightful to me.

1x08 "shiv part two": ultimate comfort episode for me. what if two autistic people had to go undercover? what if a woman tried to fuck a man under a sink? just a few of the many questions asked by this episode

2x04 "summer school chapter four": crusher and paula should be allowed to do whatever they want. also the scene where dickie gets in an argument with a child in a bookstore is pretty good

1x11 "shining knight": this is the best episode of the show. like full stop. this is the best one. it isn't the highest rated on imdb. it isn't my favorite. but it is 100% the best episode of the series.

3x12 "the last will and testament of sylvester pemberton": i have probably Never gone crazier at an episode of television in my life. getting to the ending is excruciating because the first chunk is a "pat experiences ableism" simulator but oh baby. when the musical sting hits it hits

1x02 "s.t.r.i.p.e.": this episode is nearly perfect. why is there a two minute long one-take sequence in the middle of it? don't ask questions

1x01 "stargirl"/"pilot": this is one of the best cape show pilots of all time. i think doom patrol's is better but it's easily on the flash pilot level, probably higher. tells you everything you need to know: courtney rules. pat has autism. if you celebrate christmas you WILL die of supervillains attacking you. what more can you ask for

2x03 "summer school chapter three": mike should be allowed to do whatever he wants whenever. you can tell how much fun everyone had shooting this so even if luke wilson is Not looking at his mark in the slightest it's still good.

1x10 "brainwave jr": i get why this is the highest ranked episode on imdb but it is funny that it set the tone for james robinson writing episodes where he kills people in a tunnel. the scene at the beginning with barb where she's struggling not to break down is an under-appreciated bit that is so fucking good.

1x03 "icicle": the tonal shift is great. i wish hootie had come back.

1x05 "hourman and doctor mid-nite": ending scene alone puts this here. thank you cameron gellman

2x11 "summer school chapter eleven": courtney clapping at cindy and going "AND HOW DID THAT GO FOR YOU?" about controlling eclipso after they both get stuck in the monster dimension is one of the funniest scenes in the show

3x13 "the reckoning": way better finale than other cape shows, which is fortunate for me and unfortunate for those other shows. just a really nice sendoff. i like that they bring it full circle by having kids murder someone in this one, too.

1x07 "shiv part one": the fight choreography in the courtney/cindy fight is so good. i think it's overlooked because it's a 1v1 fight but that spinning long take is really fantastic imo and i love the setting of the school gym outfitted for the dance.

2x09 "summer school chapter nine": yet another episode that's a "pat experiences ableism" simulator and it is upsetting to watch but also john wesley shipp is there and it's quite well done all around. points detracted because whatever his name is that plays cameron can't act to save his life and his scene partner (an actual teenager) is absolutely killing it

3x01 "the murder": extremely good episode i love my friends i genuinely smile so big thinking about it

1x12 "stars and s.t.r.i.p.e. part one": i want to fuck crusher so bad for that garage scene and that's why it ranks higher than the s1 finale

1x13 "stars and s.t.r.i.p.e. part two": what if there was a liberalification beam.

3x11 "the haunting": obviously the setup of this episode makes me want to punch walls but artemis' screaming and breakdown at the end puts this a cut above other episodes

im so mentally ill right now i just curated a list of all of the different allusions the owl house makes to caleb wittebane and his witch girlfriend. for anyone interested, i have them in chronological order: (sort of)

the first reference we get to caleb is actually all the way back in season 2 episode 4. at the end of the episode, gwendolyn explains that her great-grandmother told her of a human who lived in bonesborough who left his diary at the library, and who mysteriously vanished one day (which we know now is actually him being run out of town), and also briefly brings up the capability of titan's blood to create rifts between realms. initially, this is just the precursor to finding out who phillip wittebane is - an 'explorer' from the deadwardian era of the boiling isles, but the specific mention that it was gwen's great grandmother, aka eda and lilith's great-great grandmother, suggests that this clawthorne ancestor may have known the wittebane brothers personally. this would suggest that maybe this great-grandmother of gwendolyn's Was caleb's partner, or perhaps caleb's daughter who had never gotten to meet him, however the latter seems a little more unlikely.

the next reference i found was in knock knock knockin on hooty's door. in eda's segment of the episode, she flashes back to the day the owl beast attacked her dad, and this is the first glimpse we get of her dad, who bears a striking resemblance to the wittebane brothers. we get clearer glimpses of phillip in elsewhere and elsewhen, and the similarities in hair and face shape are definitely no coincidence. aside that, he has the same distinct nose shape as caleb/hunter.

more on dell clawthorne, we do actually end up meeting him in the present.

in this shot, we see his palisman - a yellow cardinal. this is important for two reasons. 1) bird palismen are notably tied to the clawthorne family, like eda with owlbert, lilith and her raven palisman (which i have issues with, but that's for another time), gwen and hawksley, and dell and his yellow cardinal. 2) this is the same species of bird as flapjack, who we know belonged to either caleb or his witch partner, but most likely caleb. another direct connection.

we also learn that historically, the clawthornes were palisman carvers, and that dell could no longer continue his craft because of sustained nerve damage in his hand, and the loss of his left eye. another thing i noticed is that i'm pretty sure him, eda and lilith are all left handed, but that's not really an important detail. every afab in my family was left-handed up until me, so whether or not it's a thing that you pass down, i have no idea.

other than that, we learn later on in hollow mind that the very first iteration of belos' mask was carved by caleb, so it may have even been caleb who passed the tradition into the clawthorne family. either that, or perhaps he and the witch bonded over their shared hobbies.

also at the very end of elsewhere and elsewhen is this shot, which to me tells of phillip already beginning experiments on the very first grimwalkers. in this shot i can see what looks like a decaying grimwalker hand tagged '4' - likely his failed fourth attempt to recreate caleb, an early golden guard cloak, some scientific diagrams, and some bones. whether or not those are grimwalker bones or the actual corpse of his brother, i actually don't want to know, thanks. holding out hope that they're whatever the fuck 'bones of ortet' are. but this does confirm, at least to me, that caleb died Before phillip got stranded indefinitely in the demon realm.

there's also this page from phillip's diary in the same episode, a crude drawing of him and caleb distinguishable from the face shapes.

we're actually not doing this chronologically anymore, and i skipped to elsewhere and elsewhen because it was a convinient segue. back to yesterday's lie, folks.

this lil collection of screenshots is pretty much all references to the brothers i could find from yesterday's lie. the statues in the park are clearly of the wittebane brothers, with phillip sporting a signature ponytail, and caleb distinguishable yet again by the bump on his nose that he shares with hunter. also in town is the gravesfield sign, important because it states that gravesfield was founded in 1635, which is the time of the wittebane brothers and in line with the deadwardian era of the boiling isles, and also depicts a town crest bearing striking resemblance to the old golden guard sigil that hunter is seen sewing onto his cloak in any sport in a storm.

the two drawings are a little more difficult to decipher. vee's news clipping, written by the conspiracy theorist we meet later in the episode, is just a small part of the larger book that he has. this slightly less faded image, if you look close into it, we see what i assume is both brothers conversing with a witch, or a interpretation of a witch. it's difficult to decipher who is who, but i'm assuming the brother on the left is caleb, with flapjack on his shoulder, holding the witches hand and being civil. phillip, on the other hand, appears to be holding a torch in his right hand - witch hunter, remember? - and a 'picto-glyph' in his other. you could suggest it's the other way around, but i don't think that's vitally important. what's depicted here are the brothers. jacob even briefly recounts their story from the human world perspective - two brothers lured into a 'realm of evil' by a real witch, never to be seen again.

having mentioned any sport in a storm, i should mention that this is the first time we hear caleb's name. when hunter is trying to come up with a cover name, flapjack suggests the name caleb, and hunter goes by 'caleb jasper bloodwilliams' for the majority of the episode.

this is all before hollow mind, which, as we know, contains the most information about the wittebane brothers. we've all seen the screenshots of the paintings, but we know that caleb bears a very striking resemblance to hunter, and was spotted in the photos with who appears to be a female witch, implied to be an ancestor of the clawthornes. phillip even mentions that 'out of all the grimwalkers, [hunter] looks the most like [caleb]', if you disregard various scarring on hunter's face, the red eyes characteristic of grimwalkers, and the tooth gap.

here we also get a little characterisation for caleb. contrasted to who we learn phillip is, caleb is a lot more liberal and accepting of change. unlike phillip, he learns to embrace magic, embrace witches, and embrace the demon realm despite his puritan upbringing in early america. he even embraces phillip, who had already succumbed to whatever ailment he had given himself as a result of carving glyphs into his skin. however, phillip, despite caleb's attempts to ease him into the demon realm and embrace it as something wonderful, ends up murdering him, and it is very likely at this point that the clawthorne witch banished phillip to the demon realm permanently as a punishment, knowing it was a world he hated, and buried the portal they'd been using to traverse worlds in her estate, later to be found by eda when she ran away from home.

also in this episode we get a flashback to hunter's return from eclipse lake. belos and the collector talk, and after the collector suggests that he keeps making grimwalkers just to destroy them, and that he finds fun in it, belos denies the accusation and claims that every time the golden guard chooses to betray him, it hurts.

not only does caleb's good heart persist throughout his clones, to the point of having to betray his younger brother again and again, but he still sees caleb in them all. he may be beyond the point of no return, willing to kill them each time, but he still longs for a brother that sees the world the way he does, so he can have a brother he seemed to love so dearly in his youth return to him.

to be honest, there's not much mention of caleb, the clawthorne ancestor, or grimwalkers after that until the last two episodes.

in clouds on the horizon, hunter decides to hide the fact that he is a grimwalker from gus and willow, and is unsure if he is a human or a witch. all he knows is that he is a clone of 'someone belos made disappear'.

then, king's tide. hunter and belos reunite for the first time in the finale post-hollow mind, and in this episode, belos finally meets flapjack again. not only has hunter betrayed him, the clone he expected to last longer, the one that caleb looked the most like, but he also wields caleb's palisman. this enrages him, probably because he doesn't see hunter anymore. he sees caleb. he shouts caleb's name, confirming for the first time that caleb was the name of his older brother, and that flapjack originally belonged to either caleb or his partner. i know there was a whole thing about whether or not he said 'caleb' or 'kill him', but dana Has confirmed on twitter that he said 'caleb'.

all the way back in episode 6, flapjack made a decision to become hunter's palisman, and the bat queen said this,

but who knew that line held the weight that it did?

The same as last episode's reaction, I notes everything down at the time it was happening so these are my literal first reactions to each news

Which is great because WHEN I rewatch this, I am excited to go through these notes and go "AWW", so whilst I am unable to rewatch this show again for the first time, I CAN see how I reacted, which I think is quite nice, don't you?

People are saying the “ new” Collector is better because now he’s more than a kid with too much power. Personally I always thought the seeming contrast between physical and mental age was intentional, if the Collector could even be measured by human metrics.  But whatever, I actually do find the “ kid with too much power” concept interesting with how it could mirror Luz and Philip’s journeys.

At the start of the series Luz viewed the Isles through a fantasy book setting and her arc was her learning that the Isles wasn’t like that, it was its whole own separate place with its own rules and culture. Those who lived there were just like her and that her actions there hold heavy, real life consequences. Luz reached these conclusions with help of the positive influences around her. If Eda, King, Hooty, Gus, and Willow hadn’t been there for her, if she had been left to fend for herself, I think Luz would had drawn different conclusions.

Philip, on the other hand, couldn't separate the Boiling Isles from the Bible stories he was told and the tales of witches that were spread in his village. He also was forced to wander and fend for himself in the Isles alone from a relatively young age.  Someone Philip had previously turned to for guidance was now going against everything he’d ever taught him, it must’ve been like the cautionary tales they both would have been told about. Obviously Philip was very negatively influenced by his surroundings and the people within them. But recently, at least, there’s been a shift in thinking. Maybe it was from seeing the human realm and how it changed but it’s obvious through Philip’s interaction with “ Caleb” and " the Grimwalkers" that he does doubt the legitimacy of the stories he’d been told and thus his own beliefs. With his plan and his confidence in it falling apart,  so does Belos’s body.

The Collector I thought had no influence in contrast to the both of them.  Going back to how the Collector was said to be THE  child of stars and not star people, the Collector would hypothetically have nothing to watch over them, no set goals or expectations,  left in the cold and uncaring universe they were created from.  Lacking any reference, they’d just treat the Isles as a form of entertainment, something to explore and play with. What else would it be? In doing so the Collector caused irreversible harm to its inhabitants through the Titans. But nobody bothered to explain anything to them, he was locked away harshly instead.

But now turns out he’s also a victim of negative influence via “ bad Collectors” ( weird for Dana to portray almost the majority of a whole species as bad ™ when she’s refrained from doing that for all the other species, isn’t that mindset the same as Belos’s) and it’s implied the Collector didn’t hurt the Titans at all. He’s STILL is a kid with power, despite what others may say, but just a less interesting version that brings nothing new to the conversation. I didn’t want him to be meant to be same as others, I wanted him to not be meant to be anything.

But I’ll be satisfied if the Collector does what Belos never did: grow up. I want them to realize their actions are part of a perpetual cycle and that while he recognizes they were negatively influenced by a lot of forces he also did a lot of fucked up shit of their own violation.  I want him to pinkie promise King they will play again but they’re not ready yet to be his friend. I want the Collector to hold himself responsible even if other characters don’t, even if the fandom won't. It won’t be fun but it what he wants to do.

(Shock, I know because me not wanting the Collector’s  more negative qualities to be retconned or ignored clearly means I want them tortured and  killed. I want  them to  be redeemed and I expected him to be from the start but I’m not happy in doing so that Dana and co took away what made them so interesting to me in the first place.)
