I felt that post of yours about the Dracula fandom and the way it talks about adaptations tbh, like, I'm someone who was very involved in DD last year and I've written critique myself about Dracula adaptations bc I love comparative analysis and really thinking about the choices adaptations make, for good or for ill, but from my personal experience, a lot of fandom commentary on adaptations isn't really thoughtful analysis, and don't get me wrong, I'm a hater sometimes too and enjoying venting, but I noticed that this year, there were so many posts that started out as thoughtful commentary on the book, then launched into bitching about the evils of adaptations out of nowhere, and people can write what they want, but it got tiring after awhile to be in a fandom with so much angry energy, not to mention the divergence in canon vs fanon that was much starker this year that made me feel like I had read a different book.
Also, every time I see people point at re: Dracula to be like, see, it's so easy to do a perfect 1:1 adaptation of the novel, why can't other adaptations do it?, it's like, it's an audiobook, a movie can't be that long, even a television mini-series would have to make cuts. And I might dislike a lot of choices adaptations make, but creatives absolutely have the right to take a public domain work and put their own spin on things beyond book accuracy as the number one goal - and like, do we truly want a 100% accurate adaptation when the novel is still ultimately a xenophobic reverse invasion story? Like, I would hope modern directors would seriously grapple with those aspects of the original story instead of reproducing Victorian bigotry unquestioned.
Hi, thank you for your response! I'm glad that my post resonated with a few people!
I definitely also felt a shift in energy with this season of Dracula Daily, and I'm pretty sure it is a direct result of the phenomena that is Re: Dracula. Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE supporter of RE: Dracula, and I found it to be absolutely delightful specifically because it was a 1:1 adaptation of the book, but I also think that it has skewed the way people engage with all the other adaptations of Dracula. You are so right when you say that Re: Dracula's media as audiobook is what allowed it to be so authentic. Even if it was a long-form series, there would have to be creative liberties taken to account for visualising certain aspects of the text. I am 100% sure someone would be able to do it, but it would undoubtedly be a labour of love and expense.
I think the biggest thing that got lost in translation in my post is that I was speaking specifically on the rhetoric of "bad adaptation = bad media." I don't even like to use the term "bad adaptation" because it feels inaccurate and gives the connotation of being holistically terrible; "failed adaptation" or "inauthentic adaptation" seems more apt when discussing how close an adaptation relates to the source material. I think it is unfair for any adaptation to be written off solely on the fact that it does not strictly adhere to the original text. This can be in way of narrative, characterization, theme, etc. I don't think it's fair to say "x adaptation is bad because it ignores x from the text" because that fundamentally dismisses all the other attributes that contribute to whether or not a piece of media is subjectively good (because honestly that's all it is-- subjectivity). Media, especially film and stage, has so many dynamic and moving parts. There are so many attributes that contribute to the success of any one given thing, especially adaptations (which can claim the title with even the loosest references to the source material). I feel like the black and white thinking when it comes to this doesn't really allow for a dialogue to exist between people who enjoy Dracula adaptations for what they are and, forgive me for saying this, book purists.
Understandably, there is criticism against some adaptations that have claimed to follow the source text closely, but very distinctly did not (Ahum, Cappola). However, I think it does everyone a disservice to deny the impact of a lot of these (mostly) films. Someone in the reblogs of my original post did a good breakdown of the origins of the Dracula genre itself, and I think it goes to show that the story of Dracula has a life of its own outside of the pages of Bram Stoker's book.
The most annoying thing about the responses to my initial post was the refusal to believe that anyone was making these comparisons. I really would not have gone out on a limb to rant about this if I hadn't been consistently seeing vent posts in the main tag with mostly negative responses to a lot of different adaptations of Dracula based on the authenticity of them to the text. I admit I was frustrated when I wrote it, but it really was meant to just address the black and white thinking re: failed adaptations making bad media. This is not to say that criticism of adaptations isn't valid, but I think there should be more nuance to this conversation and that's what I wasn't seeing. It's not fun to dive into the broad Dracula tag and find post after post shitting on your favourite media because it isn't like the book.
Sorry this was a bit long! I am just really passionate about Dracula okay!! And I really really really like all the shitty little shows and movies and plays and comics and all other media that comes out of his name (because YES, a lot of adaptations really make vampire synonymous with Dracula and ROLL WITH IT). Vampires are really neat and the Dracula genre of film has been a huge influence on horror media. I think there is a lot to be said when analysing adaptations, but none of it can come from blanket statements against them.

slight canon divergence of the roof top scene in homecoming that will lead to starker:
When Tony tells Peter to give the suit back, I want Peter to be pissed - like, really pissed. He keeps eye contact, and takes off the suit, leaving him in just his underwear. And when he stands in front of Tony, he will just bark out a passive aggressive "Happy now?!".
Let Tony be speechless. The guy came around thinking he should do some mentoring or whatever, or help the kid. But in front of him, there is an almost naked twink with muscles at the right places and a bratty confidence that should not be as hot as it is. Let this be Tony's "Oh. Oh." - moment. Let him suffer from desire and guilt and suppressed want until he behaves so fucking stupid that even Peter catches on. And then - let the hunting courting begin.

Fic Tag Game
Tagged by: @wincestation, @realisticintentions, @realmermaid333, @cosmic-lullaby, @suchaladyy, @beri-allen
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
149
2. What's your Ao3 word count?
361,707 words.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Wednesday currently. Teen Wolf for six years. Harry Potter, Hannibal, Thorki, Starker, Twilight (Bella/Carlisle and Bella/Aro), The Umbrella Academy (not that i got very far before getting obsessed with wyler), and Madrigalcest (Primarily Brumira)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Overall?
Fuck It (Steter, Teen Wolf, 3,396)
When it Needs Fixing (Steter, Teen Wolf, 3,339)
Hostile Takeover (Steter, Teen Wolf, 2,781)
Absolution (Steter, Teen Wolf, 2,691)
Wandering in the Dark (Steter, Teen Wolf, 2,250)
In Wednesday?
Her Monster (Wyler, 708)
Hold Me Close (Wyler, 593)
Revelations (Wyler, 499)
Warning, She Bites (Wyler, 464)
Impressing Wednesday Addams (Wyler, 387)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Sometimes. I reply when I have something meaningful to add. Otherwise it'd get very repetitive and generic and that kind of soulless connection isn't really the point of this kind of thing. I adore my comments nonetheless and I read them a lot.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hold on. I gotta skim my list.
update: i do not remember some of these fics or what happened in them
Maybe Modi the Brave (MCU, Thorki). This was an angsty fanfic of a fanfic. There was a happy ending in the original fic, The Rescue by madwriter223
I'm not counting Absolution because it was immediately followed by a sequel. But technically, it did get me the most angry sobbing comments which i treasure to this day.
The Final Straw was angsty but it was also dumb and half-cocked and the closest thing to an embarrassment on this account. It was literally just a half-thought half-scene of my 18yo self's emotional state in 2018 that is very evident that I wrote this angrily in study hall. I wrote a lot of fic in that high school during classes. Like a lot. It was my school computer. I got plenty of use out of it. There was no structure or coherent plot. I didn't even hint at anything deeper to be explored in your own minds. I didn't want to look at it long enough or think about it long enough. I just wanted it out of my head. If I didn't have a strict no deleting my works policy, or hiding from my past art policy, I would probably have deleted it within the week of posting. I do not understand how it has the kudos, subscriptions, and bookmarks that it has. I guess it resonated. Good for y'all. I mean it.
Literally just the entirety of Tyler's Bad Year is meant to be about a very traumatic time in a young man's life and him surviving it. I'm not going to go through them and try to pick out "the worst" one. That's not really the point and it'd be largely subjective.
I'll Eat You Raw has an angsty ending but angstiest? I'm not sure.
I don't write a lot of bad endings. Open endings? sure. Complicated endings? Absolutely. But unhappy endings? No. I don't often have the desire.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Jesus fuck we want to be here all day? Ok lemme look through shit again.
Wandering in the Dark has a whole story behind it. There was actually two versions. Only one was posted to ao3 and is the "canon" version. I wrote this fic for a high school assignment my senior year. We were assigned to pick a chronic disease out of a literal hat, then write a story around it. We had complete creative control so I took that chance to write teen wolf steter fanfic in class and actually have it be on task for once (I got an A in that class btw). The reason my teacher got a dark ending version is because by the time he got back to me on the maximum word count, I'd already finished the canon version and it was way too long. I couldn't trim the fat, so I wrote a different ending to shorten the story. That version is one of the angstier stories I've written. The one posted and linked above, is the very happy by comparison. This fic is also designed to be read by someone who doesn't know shit about teen wolf.
Through Thick and Thin was also extremely happy. As is Her Monster. Benevolent Gods was meant to be very hopeful. The Hale Pack (Undying) was the end to a series that was my baby for a long time . Like long enough you can see my writing evolve as you go. Part one was one of the first things i ever wrote. Like ever. The last part was years later. Jasper was meant to be a very light-hearted, happy story as well. It's extremely sweet and fluffy. You was also very happy and the epilogue cemented that happiness. Warning: She Bites literally had a happy end that unknowingly prevented a main character committing suicide in the near future. Saving lives by being horny. Wednesday Evening, and every installment in that series, is excessively happy as well.
Alright I ran through my list of fics. These were the ones that stood out. There's too many to really commit to one answer tbh. Especially because the way they're happy varies.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really. Or. Well. I'm sure I do. I block antis on sight and I wholly reject purity culture, and I haven't really been the target of a major attack or anything. I don't get as many hateful comments as one might think, and I don't entertain the ones I do get. I've been accused of vile shit of course because of a fic I wrote. I don't remember what fic or even what ship it was for because I don't dwell on them really at all. Aside from that, I get more entitled but probably ignorant to how they come off as entitled comments that aren't really that big a deal. Just a bit of a peeve sometimes. I honestly think the majority of them truly believe it's a kind gesture when they say it.
9. Do you write smut? What kind?
Yeah. You could say that.
What kind? In a word? Intense. I could make a joke or a long elaboration on my niche in hyde sex and whatnot, but at the end of the day, intense. Even my most laid back, domestic, slice of life fics have a sense of intensity to them because otherwise I get bored and it feels soulless and it's just not my writing style.
10. Do you write cross-overs?
When I feel like it. When I have an idea.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! I have a steter fic on a russian fic website that was translated years ago. I have no idea which it was or if it's still there. Wait! I might remember. Yeah no. I don't remember. It wasn't the one I thought of.
12. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
No. I've started to outline one before but it went nowhere and we both forgot about it.
13. What WIP you would like to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Harry Potter and the Night that Changed Everything.
I had a whole novel basically planned for it. Writing Bellatrix and a Harry who was raised by Bellatrix took a lot out of me emotionally, and I lost steam.
Also, a Bella Swan/Marcus Vulturi fic that i also had a novel length plot planned out, wrote three chapters for, and then lost steam when I left the fandom due to getting the life sucked out of me by a bunch of toxic people in the fandom killing my joy. Those chapters are just collecting dust in my files right now. I'd like to go back to it one day and finish it in some form or another. Maybe it's original enough I could actually just write an original novel out of the scraps I already have. Actually, to be honest, it is probably original enough that I could write it as an original story. There is not a lot of Twilight there that is necessary to the story and can easily be written out. Something to think about maybe. Ironically not the first prompt I thought up initially for Twilight that I then realized nothing about Twilight was necessary for the idea I had, and I just wrote it without Bella entirely. This is how my original zombie novel started and then immediately evolved into an entirely different thing that has nothing to do w Twilight. Like literally nothing. I had to work to put the Twilight into that one. Not the other way around.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
wyler (steter and tomarry honorary).
15. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and characterization
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
pacing. movement heavy scenes. Longer projects if only because I have less practice at them.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Yeah. If it fits, I'll write it. I won't pretend to be fluent, but I'll do my best. Probably won't do anything too complicated for the sake of realism of my abilities. Especially if it's not Spanish which I at least have spent time trying to learn.
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Teen Wolf
19. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Listen...
We've established how well I am at picking one end all number one.
Fuck ok. back to the list.
Water of the Womb was one I was planning to write for almost a year and it turned out pretty good I think. Actually no.
No. It's not a fic that's been posted yet.
I think the favorite fic I've ever written is I Bit Him So He's Mine. it's my "Wednesday is a Hyde season one rewrite au". It's my first novel that is more than just a future novel. It's hit 40k and I have to start Act 2 still. It's my first proper murder mystery where the mystery is the primary plot equal to the romance. I've had a lot of fun with it, I've put my heart and soul into it, and I really look forward to calling it ready to post. Once it's done, you guys are getting regular updates for a long time.
20. What fic would you want to rewrite one day?
Out of the Fire haunts me. It was a lesson to learn. I had the desire to write a steter/hannigram crossover and zero plan of any kind outside that. It crashed and burned because I only had a first chapter in me. I recently met a local and successful author who recognized my ao3 username because of this fic and remembered me years later enough to compliment my writing (I cannot express how much that meant to me). Wait no that might have been Mark of an Angel which also haunts me, but I didn't have zero plan. I had almost no plan, and lost steam when I hit a creative block at a bad time. Normally, I'd have just sat down and workshopped a starter outline and wrote myself out of that block, but I lost steam so I never did. Different deal. Not as impactful in my creative journey. Out of the Fire, however, was very important to me because of why it failed, and remains very influential with every new project I start. Actually rewriting/finishing that project would be a defining moment for me as a writer, I think. At least to me personally.

I cannot adequately express how delighted I am to learn that Yasha has literally always been ready to rumble. So many post-canon portrayals of yasha focus on an idyllic reversion to some unknown or forgotten point in her life where she was soft, or they assume that zuala was/made her soft and - actually no, she's been a sack of knuckles and the living embodiment of the fight emoji since she was what, five? Grass cloak, bare feet, will bite if provoked and also maybe if not provoked. Believes she's destined for greatness, no worries about whether she's worthy, of course she is, get out of the way. I unironically love this for her.
Soft, shy angel kiddo forced to grow up too fast had its place as headcanons went, no doubt. It would've been just as fun. But I'm thrilled that the earliest portrayal we have of Yasha, as a little kid, is just all systems go I'm Gonna Kick Your Ass. Spitting blood and absolutely indomitable, confident she knows what her life is leading to and sprinting for it.
It also provides a starker contrast to the aimless, softer version we meet in the show, after the trauma and memory loss and the time spent with Molly. He was always supportive of even her more murderous qualities and having a better understanding of who he might have glimpsed on her worst days just makes me appreciate their friendship even more. So much of her story is just finding balance and learning how to direct her own strength so nobody else can use her.
There's this perception of Yasha that she's been yearning for softness for so long and it never fit her, but now it's even clearer. She wants the CHOICE to be soft, now that she knows what that feels like - now that she understands what it is to feel safe. But no part of her has ever been incongruent with violence or distasteful of her abilities. She revels in her strength, she values the things she can do with her power, and she's found herself in a place where she can have it all. Forcing her into the box of soft passivity post-canon does her just as many favors as her being forced into the brutal violence box for so long. The point is the choice - for both. Some part of her will always be ready to throw down, no questions asked, and she didn't spend all that time learning how to find her own will and re-embrace her terrifying strength just to give it up. She has the option to rest, and resting is all she's asked for. A break. A breather, time to soak in this new way of living. But she's unapologetically wired for and good at absolutely beating things into a pulp, and a better grasp on when that's appropriate does not cancel out her pride in doing so.

warning for tlou ep 4 spoilers (and TLOU Part 2) but:
not to be horribly meta on main but I'm mainly screaming over how this episode exemplified how well this story was adapted to a television format, ESPECIALLY regarding the themes that ND has repeatedly stated he wanted to explore in the TLOU Part 2 that maybe didn't quite land the way he meant them to
(Benioff and Weiss and their hatred for eighth grade book reports should be taking copious notes rn lol)
I remember when the second game came out and there was this big to-do about how the perspective towards "villains" had changed - not just in the fact that you spend half the game playing as Abby (Joel's killer), but that the developers had actually given names to all the NPCs that end up as cannon fodder for the player. The AI was supposed to be so advanced that for every enemy you killed as either Abby or Ellie, the NPC would beg for their life or curse you as you make the final blow or whatever, and then when their NPC friends found them you would hear their wailing and crying out for "Beck" or "Miranda" or whomever the fuck and the whole idea was that it was supposed to make you the player really think about the implications of taking a human life and the cycle of revenge yadda yadda yadda.
Which is a GREAT CONCEPT, but I just remember how...tedious it became, after a while. TLOU Part 2 got a lot of flak for a lot of reasons (some more valid than others imo) but I personally think its impossibly difficult to instill the lesson of "taking a life is something that carries real emotional weight" through the medium of a video game where you are mowing down LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE. That's just par for the course - you end up killing so many people that after a while their names mean nothing, BECAUSE THERE'S NO WAY TO CONTINUE THE GAME WITHOUT DOING SO. (I remember one reviewer talking about how fatigued they were with it - they didn't want to be killing all these people and stabbing dogs and they as a player were screaming through their fingers at the decisions Ellie was making to continue down this cycle of violence but there was no way to continue the game without going through it, even though the point had already been hammered home over and over again to the point where it was exhausting, we get it, killing should not be this easy but this is a video game for fuck's sake).
And maybe that was also the point was to make the player wonder how some characters (like Joel, maybe) eventually become so numb to the concept of taking life, but I just remember it being a point in Part 2 that ultimately just...kind of missed the mark.
And BOY OH BOY did the show hit it in this episode.
Literally, TLOU Part 2 wanted to make its point by naming hundreds upon hundreds of NPCs and TLOU Episode 4 managed to hit it with a single character named Bryan.
I think it also helps that when Joel is shooting back at the "hunters" (idk what they're calling them in the show canon but that's what they were at the game) we don't really see them die onscreen, so it makes Bryan's eventual demise even starker. But holy fuck hearing him plead with Ellie and Joel for his life hit so much harder than it ever did in the game. Hearing him try to bargain with a little girl, screaming for his mom only to go silent...I freaking love Joel and even then in that moment I felt that horror and slight...idek what to call it, not even disgust but just the moral grayness of it all made my stomach churn.
Ellie's tears felt so deserved in that moment. Even Joel's moment of hesitation (fuck you Pedro Pascal I hate how good you are at EVERYTHING) even as you know this must have been a thing he's done thousands of times before and even as necessary you might consider Bryan's death to be. Even as justified it may have been to kill an enemy in that moment, "It doesn't get any easier" is something that rings true. I believe it.
tldr; another banger episode from a team that knows what the fuck a theme is and how to tie that into your story with subtlety and nuance and FUCK EVERYONE AT NAUGHTY DOG AND HBO I CAN'T KEEP GETTING MY HEART BROKEN FOR ANOTHER MONTH AND A HALF

I do prefer Starker being unacted upon when it comes to canon flavor Spiderio plots because it's just so delicious, the sick delight Quentin would feel for taking Peter in ways Tony never did but maybe wanted to. Peter certainly wanted to, it's very obvious. Quentin can't really say for sure what Tony's feelings were but he's chosen to believe Tony also wanted it, because it makes it that much more fun when he plays with and fucks Peter. That he gets to so completely steal this from Tony.

I dreamed that
Starker was canon, although it had all happened offscreen
Tumblr media
(in a "We're taking a break, it's nobody's fault" type-line) and when we saw them again they had already broken up and moved on.
In THAT movie (that was not a Spider-Man or Ironman movie, they showed up in some other movie) and they were working together, moving in sync and finishing each other's thoughts just like always, and it was really sweet. They were clearly two people who worked together, and did it well. They clearly cared for each other, and had been together romantically for a while, but had moved on from that part of their lives. It was very sweet and tender, and I was glad we had got to see that part on screen.
But I was REALLY pissed they decided it all had to happen off screen. Cowards.

tbh non-MCU Starker where Peter is his grown-ass adult self from the comics sounds like a fun ship bc they sometimes have a friendly rivalry going on and witty banter that is so much fun to read like they would be both fucking insufferable (affectionate) as a couple, but alas we are stuck with whatever the hell has ao3 going on. I'm not even touching that.
Tumblr media
Listen, I don’t even think the 616 version of starker is interesting nor compelling. If I want Peter to be with a rich and famous person, I’d just write Peter and MJ. Johnny if it has to be a guy. 616 Peter and Tony are far too different for me to even consider anything romantic and it’s well established by now how much I’m not a fan of enemies to lovers.
@stackthedeck propositioned the possibility of Peter B. and Tony which firmly gets rid of the age gap and other power dynamics but again, not really my vibe though I can respect the vision.
And it’s because of that, I have such strong feelings about so much of irondad. 80% of people are literally just writing starker, calling it platonic, and harassing anyone who dares to question otherwise. How are you going to write Peter and Tony as the center of each others universes, their sole reason for living, cuddling in bed together (usually when Peter is 16 at best and Tony is 50ish), Tony calling him baby and Peter saying dad in the most helpless way, remove every single person darker than a paper bag from their lives who are canonically close to them (Ned and Rhodey), eliminate the women in their lives (Pepper, May, MJ and Morgan), add in the white guys beyond all reason (Bruce, Steve, Bucky, fucking Harley Keener… but never Sam Wilson), say that they’re soulmates/long lost/family/the reason they wake up every morning/ride off into the sunset together, create fan art that’s basically celebrity rpf the two of them holding each other like a couple… and then get irrationally upset that people say they’re writing starker?
I don’t like starker, I don’t think it’s an interesting relationship nor do I find it compelling. It’s why I dislike so much of irondad and why— aside from you know, the blatant racism and misogyny— the fandom has become unbearable to be around.

Yes!! not too many, but I've written a few. This one isn't crazy but it is the most developed of all the wips. It's a Supernatural/The Breakfast Club crossover called Supernatural activity at shermer high
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
a few times by a bot, im really really hoping it doesn't happen again but with AI about to fuck us all out of work, im a lil worried.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! two of my Starker fics were translated into Russian and on fic book but that website got torched a few years ago :( I think I also had a reader translate a TBC fic into Portuguese
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Many! probably 20-30 at this point
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
not possible for me to choose. So here's my favs of the moment. Hankconvin800 or hankvin1700, steddiegrove, parksborn, steadyhands
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
get a few scotches in him and he'll hit on anything in a 5 mile radius.
its a cowritten work I worked on years ago and just, meh idk I dont really wanna go back to it haha
16. What are your writing strengths?
I've gotten compliments on my dialogue, dynamic character relationships, smut, and angst
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
proof reading and editing
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
i never trust google translate to do a good enough job so to avoid looking like a fool i dont do it. I should try though, expand my horizons. I'm learning Danish so maybe ill make a fic using that.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
all of them hold significant places in my heart. they are all pieces of me and I'm trying to learn to love all of me. And that's gotta start somewhere!
tagging all my mututals and anyone who wants to do it

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
How many works do you have on ao3?
32. (Three are orphaned, all old fic; one spn fic is under anon)
What's your total ao3 word count?
627,118 words (I assume the anon fic is included in ao3 stats, and I added the orphans manually.) That's more than I expected, but it does stretch back to fic I started writing in 2011!
What fandoms do you write for?
Under my current pseud, Supernatural and The Outsiders. I have WIPs underway for both! I also have a languishing WIP for M*A*S*H* :( In the past I have written for the MCU, The Walking Dead, Hetalia, Teen Wolf, and The New Adventures of Old Christine.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Ephemeron (MCU, Starker), 1,393 kudos; 2. With A Bit Of Spit And Luck (SPN, Wincest), 401 kudos; 3. Is It Tomorrow (Or Just the End of Time) (SPN, Wincest), 304 kudos; 4. Closing Night (SPN, Wincest), 222 kudos; 5. Baton Rouge (SPN, Wincest), 205 kudos It's no surprise to me that my one MCU fic and the only multi-chapter fic on this list, though forever unfinished, has far and away the most kudos, and that all top 5 fics are rated E. If we knock Ephemeron off the top spot and just look at fics under my current pseud, then 5th place would go to Some Starless Night (Love May Come an' Tap You on the Shoulder) (SPN, Wincest), 184 kudos (and rated M!)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I haven't always in the past, though I always liked engaging with readers, but ever since I returned to fic in 2020 when I started writing for spn I've made sure to on principal. Not always quickly, but eventually. I'm really so grateful to the small fraction of readers who leave comments so I want to express my gratitude that they took the time! I also love giving thoughtful responses to thoughtful comments. Sometimes readers have unique insights into my work!
What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
A lot of my fics have fairly bleak or bittersweet/mixed state endings (my favorite type!); of my current pseud fics, I'd say the bleakest is either Plano: Some Town Halfway In Between (SPN, John/Dean) or Road Risk (SPN, Wincest). If we're looking at all-time fics, the angst gets--uh, angstier: Ludovicus Caecus (APH, Germancest), based on Oedipus Rex, ends with Ludwig killing Gilbert, gouging out his own eyes, and carrying his brother's severed head around in a bag; and When the Dead Do Not Rest (APH, Germancest) ends with Ludwig keeping Gilbert's severed head in a chest. Although in that case he's sort of happy with the situation so maybe it doesn't count...
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Baton Rouge (SPN, Wincest) and Like They Talk About In Books (The Outsiders, Ponypop) are pretty equally happy, with both ending on a hopeful note for the new relationship and the characters finding a sense of belonging in each other's arms <3
Do you get hate on fics?
Not outright! The worst I've gotten have been a couple rude, entitled comments along the lines of "why don't you write what I want you to write." I soundly told them off.
Do you write smut?
Yes :) I'm very thankful to various spn fandom smut events (Salt Burn Porn, Bro-Bang, and more) for helping me get my freak back on.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not generally. I like to stay close to canon, for the most part. The only one I ever tried was my Teen Wolf/The Internship crossover Colors That Are Real, which used the fact that both starred Dylan O'Brien as the flimsy excuse for a twincest ship, lol
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Maybe more than one, I can't remember. I've definitely gotten several requests to translate, but idk how many of those people went through with it. The one I know of for sure is Ephemeron, which was translated at least partially into Chinese, and fully into Russian. I was actually really touched by what a robust following it had in Russian fandom. I used to go on the site and use google translate to read people's comments :)
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
gotta go with the one, the only, the ultimate, Wincest.
What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
That M*A*S*H* fic I mentioned. It's post-canon Beejhawk. I've considered posting the two chapters I have; they sort of work on their own.
What are your writing strengths?
Rhythm and tempo! Creating an atmosphere. Dialogue. Pacing. Voice.
What are your writing weaknesses?
For spn, I really rely on good betas to check my characterization. Canon is so sprawling and the characters change so much and are so essentially complex and contradictory; it really helps to have a trusted second set of eyes to say 'hmm I don't think Sam would do that in that way at this point in canon' or 'this sounds a little like early seasons Dean more than late seasons.' They also point out where language can sound more specific to the character, which doesn't always come easy with spn's lingo and references. But honestly my biggest weakness is consistency of output/motivation :(
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
To be avoided at all costs. And if it must be done, you better know what you're doing or at least do your damn homework and try to get a native speaker to check it over.
First fandom you wrote for?
Hetalia (APH) 😅
Favorite fic you've written?
Damn that's so hard haha. I think I'd have to go with Baton Rouge, but Plano: Some Town Halfway In Between is a close second. I'm also happy to report that my current WIPs, for spn and The Outsiders, may well become my new faves. I'm very excited about both projects!
Tagged by @buddyaldridges--Thank you for the tag! This was a fun restrospective! Tagging @nigeltde-fic, @flownwrong, @zmediaoutlet, @balefully, @nevergettingoverwincest and anyone who wants to do it!

Got a Starker prompt for some writer to feel free to use...
Canon up until Endgame, so they were not already romantically involved. After Peter's death in Infinity War, Tony loses his mind with grief when he fails at every attempt to bring Peter back. Blinded with revenge, Tony goes on a massive killing spree, his bloodlust working to eliminate all of Thanos' empire on a mass level while his fellow Avengers try to pull him back. Eventually he kills his way to the top, but ends up getting killed himself after finishing Thanos. He ends up in hell (or whatever non-Christian equivalent of your choosing) because even though he meant well, his methods were by no means good and he shows no remorse for it. Being Tony Stark, he spends years (decades or millennia if you want) gaining more and more power in hell. Everyone thinks it's because he loves the power, the darkness, the chaos. After all, he shed so much blood without hesitation while alive. But really, he knew there was no other way for him to break out and get to heaven to see Peter again. But how will Peter react to finding out everything Tony did was all so they could finally be together?

I’m an our flag means death fan and I’m watching pirates of the Caribbean for the first time since I was a small child. Here’s what I have learned:
the aesthetics of piracy are always homoerotic, regardless of if they are intended to be that way.
human toe consumption is a weirdly common theme of the Pirate genre. Like I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.
Historical pirates are dead enough and poorly documented enough that you can truly do whatever you want with them. Nothing puts this into starker relief than the venn diagram of Calico Jack (OFMD) and Jack Sparrow’s center including nothing other than “Pirate, Always Drunk, Gay, and loosely Based on the historical figure of Calico Jack Rakham” They are completely different characters, you can just fuck around when it comes to characterizations and events. Might watch Black Sails and make that venn diagram actually. (Edit: I had heard that Jack Sparrow was based on Calico Jack it turns out he was based on Jack Ward. Still I feel like when I watch Black Sails the point that I have made here will stand even if I made it while operating under an incorrect assumption)
Elizabeth Swann and Jack Sparrow are going to non canonically share a boyfriend before all of this is over I can smell it.
I’ve already cosplayed Calico Jack in the OFMD way, might be fun to do it in the Pirates of the Caribbean way, who knows. Probably not, but I could.
Another Genre trope I’ve noticed is sexy black woman with establishment that contains dubious jars full of severed body parts. I support her. Which her? don’t care! Tia Dalma and Spanish Jackie are both Chads of the highest order and I will be uncritically stanning them.

Do you have any starkercest recommendations? Was there anything in particular that inspired your starkercest fic?? Asking because it’s the best I’ve ever read in that trope (and in general, tbh) :)
Awww thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it 💖 The sequel is a good 90% done at this point, but it does need a heavy editing pass, so we'll see when I actually get it posting-ready, haha.
Honestly for you should never cross my mind I was mostly inspired by my own observation that the majority of Starkercest fics seem to be no-powers AUs, which I always find interesting since I think there's so much potential in taking canon's father-figure-Tony-Stark subtext and making it Text! All the layers of Peter idolizing Tony, wanting to impress him and live up to his expectations (and live up to his legacy!) just get heightened with Tony as his actual dad, and then taking that and putting it in a Starker context? Y u m m y. (And then because I'm me I went and added another layer of spicybadwrong with the identity porn/deception element, haha.)
As for Starkercest recs! These actually do have Peter and Tony as heroes:
@unsettledink has a handful of great Starkercest fics, and I'm gonna call out Indefensible in particular as a fave! Omegaverse with omega Peter going through his first, unexpected heat.
loved you all along by purplecatsweater is another omegaverse Starkercest with a fuck-or-die-esque twist.
Aaaaand then getting much darker and further afield from canon (mind!! the tags!!!) but also very hot:
Created (Then Drilled and Invaded) by Limejuicer, established relationship omegaverse with a Peter who hasn't presented yet.
I'll Always Be Your Baby by marose, mob boss Tony and dark Peter, bonus points for being one of those fics I enjoyed heartily despite containing some kinks that are mild squicks for me, haha.
Thank you for the ask! 💖
