How to Live with A Broken Heart

Grief is messy, like a spilled bottle of black ink. It spreads, and stains, and leaves a permanent mark on your life. It takes time to adjust to the change, and it takes time to heal.

And none of it's linear. Pain can come and go, and small things can open the doors to big memories.

As the story of When The Past Was Around unfolds, you find yourself in the midst of this part of life. In the protagonist's shoes, you must find a way to navigate these feelings and memories. And that's where the core gameplay mechanic comes in as a point-and-click puzzle game.

Everything moves at your own pace. The beautiful art of the visuals and the gorgeous soundtrack will quickly sweep you away in the gentleness of falling in love, and the despair of it falling apart.

At the end, may you find a strength to continue living and a will to carry your memories unburdened.

When the Past Was Around🦉 When the Past Was Around is a point-and-click puzzle game. I wouldn't classify myself as a "puzzler", but even as the problem solving grew more and more intricate -- and my temptation to unfold the story at a steadier pace led me to hand-holding YouTube walk throughs (😅) -- I never felt frustrated. I fell comfortably into a rhythm of pointing and clicking, audibly cheering myself on when I finally cracked a tough code. Like a spring rain shower, this game is light, refreshing, and fleeting. With its gorgeous art style, lilting music, and melancholic story, When the Past Was Around endeared itself to me within the two afternoons it took me to complete it. For all you cozy puzzle lovers: this one's a must-have. 🎻

вчера за день прошлась When the Past Was Around, не помню когда такое было последний раз, наверное полгода назад… игра конечно не совсем в моем стиле, но на данный момент раздается на всевозможных подписках, более того, приглянулась приятным стилем, артом и каким-то… отсутствием задротства чтоли, не смотря на то, что я уж очень агрессивно отношусь к загадкам и пазлам. поначалу очень хорошо шла в плане головоломок (если отбросить факт ее пкашности и неудобств на жойстике), но меня кажется хватило на час. и не потому что с каждой новой главой загадки ‘усложняются’, а скорее с появлением новых функций о которых игра как- то не соизволила сообщить. н-р телескоп вокруг которого я прокружила овер долго тк не виднелось нужное созвездие, и только благодаря гугелю я поняла, что и телескоп можно вертеть… вроде мелочь, но таких нюансов попадалось немало.

по части истории я теряюсь, тк не в силах объяснить о чем рассказывает игра: о любфи, потери и воспоминаниях о былом; или больной фантазии главной тянки. здесь видимо из категории- каждому свое, но мне как-то понравилось, я даже переживала моментами.

When the Past Was Around скорее для любофных парочек и смазливых страдальцев, тем не менее очень достойное инди. удивительно, но я даже не пожалела пройдя ее (частенько по гайду правда)

I come back with another short indie game but, omg this one is a little gem <33

It’s a point & click game with simple puzzles to solve, with a very cosy ambiance and a lovely music accompanying our short trip. Actually, the music is the center of the game so I guess that’s why I felt connected to it (you know me, I’m very sensible to anything musical). 

The visual is so charming (>o<)!!! I’m a big fan of the art style and I’m definitely gonna check if the design artist is somewhere on social media because I’d be glad to follow their other works <333

The story is about love and grief, but given in such a poetic and lovely way ;o; It’s short but very impactful, I finished it in less than 2 hours without rushing, but it didn’t need more to share the emotions and the wonder~

It’s the kind of game that really deserves more attention, so I hope this short review will make you curious and try the game, for a short but oh so lovely moment 🎵

idk if any yall rusty lake bitches also played when the past was around (if you havent u should, its an absolutely beautiful game) but rn they’re doing a makeship campaign for eda & owl plushies and i just. you have to look at owl
