Asami was already fumbling with her jacket to pull out her phone. She took a few panoramas but when she turned back to Korra she paused. “No. Get over here and let’s take one together! You’ve been an incredible guide today and I’d rather remember that than have a picture of me all alone at this beautiful place.
Korra was surprised but she obliged and skied over to Asami. They lifted their goggles from their faces and posed happily for a selfie that only caught a fraction of the view. Their smiles shone, though.

If by some chance you are in the TLOK fandom and among the Korrasami shippers and HAVENT read Where the Snow Takes us by @asamiontop , go read it RIGHT. NOW.
I started reading it when it was first published and followed along through the years. I’ve re read it twice, and just re read it for the third time after it was recently completed.
This story is so wonderfully written and really captures the beauty that is Korra and Asami. WtSTU holds an extremely special place in my heart and I feel so grateful for stories like these. It’s so well done it almost feels illegal to read for free. This fic is the type to leave you feeling emotionally hungover after you finish. It’s just that good. The yearning, the angst, the love. ITS. SO GOOD. My roman empire fr.
PLEASE GO READ. READ EVERYTHING ELSE BY @asamiontop FOR THAT MATTER!!!!! TALENT SEEPS OUT OF EVERY SINGLE FIC!! ♥️

Where the Snow Takes Us...thoughts??
I caught up/finished this....AMAZING fic...
I have NOTHING but high praises for this story. Thank you so much author for providing us your fantastic story.
99% of the time I had the BIGGEST smile on my face while reading this. The Love and Care of their characters just...breaks through your screen and immediately takes root in your mind.
(more under the cut) (mostly just me rambling)
I'm gonna try to be vague JUST IN CASE.
The 1% was me fucking CRYING. FUCK. I mentioned it before but the entirety of the scene where they go to the airport together KILLED ME. It legit brought up the time where I had to go through something similar to that and ugh. I forgot those....powerful feelings and those memories and feelings (and story) CLUNG to my damn head all day.
The pining was expected honestly. lol. makes sense. I just didn't really expect the length of it. it is (currently) 35 chapters long and I expected some length before something lol. What i didn't know is that this story, essentially, has seasons.
i THINK I can boil it down to 3 or 4, depending on how you view story beats.
Season 1 was probably my favorite. It sets up everything. Everything you WANT in a slow burn and honestly met all expectations in those regards. The author also *did the thing* where they put the title in the story.
I hated season 2. NOT because it was bad or poorly written or whathaveyou. It was the entirety of the situation. The pain it caused me lol.
[SMALL SPOILER: The connection it had with the real series kinda hit me in the face once I kinda realized. The 3 years. the letters. it was honestly really well done]
Season 3 just fucking melts your heart and kicks ass. And I HAVE to spoil this because of the immense feelings I had. BUT KORRA WINNING THE OLYMPICS. I HONESTLY CHEERED I HONESLTY CRIED. THE BIGGEST SMILE ON MY DUMB FACE. I WAS SO PROUD OF IT ALL. One of my favorite scenes had one of my absolute favorite lines in it. I left a comment that was just me screaming lol. (the author was probably confused when they read it lol)
"A few clouds traveled lazily across the blue, blissfully ignorant of the life changing events that had just transpired below. Just as they’d done eight years ago,..."
FUCK. THAT'S GOOD.
And while I said season 1 was my favorite, season 3 is probably the most fulfilling portion of the story to me.
Season 4 (maybe? depending on how you look at it lol) is where we are left off. We are dealing with reality checks. We're dealing with the, in my opinion, the must surreal amount of realism, in the non fiction sense. It slaps you in the face. lol.
And we're left on a different kind of cliff hanger. No real life or death scenarios or a "will she say yes" like deal. But one that. pricks your brain on what the possibilities be. While it's more than likely resolved, i kinda see how it can be turned (even though there's 2 chapters left lol) but all that's left after all of this is what's next for our favorite couple.
honestly, after my dumb ramblings all that's really really left to say is that I am GLAD I've read this. I know that I can't do Roll with the Punches, the fucking hurt I experienced from Where the Snow Takes Us, I would imagine, would utterly be eclipsed with RWTP. In this story, the trip to the airport, took me about a day to get over it. lol.
The author has a real talent with their writing. The moods they can capture, the characters, their individual stories, the scenes come to life I tell you.
If you're reading this still. I'm sorry for my dumb ramblings and thank you so much for doing so. Read it if you haven't already. Give it props, leave comments, share it.
My only complaint....there's no more snow. put it back. there's no more snow to take them.

Where the Snow Takes Us- Ch 10, by @asamiontop
“They lay together, buried in white as more snow fell over them, deadening any nearby sounds or movement. Enveloped in the fluff, wrapped around each other, they were utterly alone. Korra’s eyes smiled, overflowing with giddy elation, and Asami stared back, too anchored to think about how their clothes would soon soak through and how challenging it would be to recover all their gear in this mess.“
I cannot tell you how much I felt connected to these characters in this story. I absolutely enjoyed this one, that I felt compelled to draw one of my favorite moments.

Ive read 27 chapters of "Where the Snow Takes Us" today....
Holy fuck.
I can't summarize at midnight, on my phone, when i have to get up early for work...what I've experienced today from reading majority of this story.
A lot of love ...a lot of yearning....a lot of happiness
But what got me...in this very short summarization...... Is the drive to the airport
Fuck. Me. That was...way too close to home. Fuck
I can't wait to "finish" the story

Poll adventure (paventure? lol) Day 9: read the small story tidbit below the poll for more details, OR just vote based on initial impression
(✦ see past poll results + further information HERE (link) ✦)
Yesterday's poll helped The Adventurer build his raft...
"After two hours of fumbling about with tangled rope and tree branches, he's finally produced something that at least.. mostly, looks like a normal raft. He attaches a few extra flowers for decoration, loops his cat into a makeshift safety harness (so they can't get lost in the water), then gives everything one last check before deciding it's all ready to go, nervously pushing off into the river...
Surprisingly, it floats just fine. As long as he doesn't make any sudden movements, the raft doesn't threaten to flip over, or even wobble nearly as much as he expected. There's no way to really steer or paddle, but he does have a large stick he occasionally uses to push himself away from rocks or other obstacles. Luckily, the current is very slow at this section of the river, and hopefully will remain so for his entire trip.
Just lazily floating around, he estimates he should travel about 4 hours to fully get past the blocked road and end up at the next area on his map. Though the raft is too small (and too lumpy) to comfortably lay on, he can still recline slightly, bathing in the near afternoon sun, watching the scenery slowly drift by....
About 30 minutes into his first ever sailing adventure, he feels the water shift as a larger boat comes near. He can't see it clearly yet, but it seems to be nice - polished wood with painted sections and little flags draped along the sides, presumably some sort of actual steering and propelling mechanisms, and about 10 people lounging on the surface, maybe having some sort of party..? It's been very quiet so far, these are the first other travelers he's seen in the entire area today... Should he attempt to make contact with them? "
--------
Additional details -
Boat Make-up : Based on the results of the last poll (where people helped him make a boat by choosing the amount of materials) -- With 30% branches and 21% rope, there's only a 9% difference between them, so both are in pretty close amounts, which means there's a TON of rope. (normal ratio would be like 65% wood and 10% rope lol). I probably should have even added more, but it's so visually busy, just pretend there's extra rope wrapped under the boat too.
30% branch and 15% fabric means there's about half as much fabric as there is wood, which is also A LOT for just a little side decoration, so I made the flag huge, and a square of fabric for the cat to sit on. 10% berries means that there's enough ink for 1/3 of the wood to be entirely covered in purple designs. The least amount was the twigs and leaves for padding, which would cover a little under 1/3 of the wood (laid on top). then a little over 1/3 of the space is flowers for decor, which are just kind of sitting in a pile on top, with a few actually tied down onto the flag or other areas.
Since the branches were pretty close in percentage to all other things (not like 80% branches and 20% all other materials), the raft is fairly small, as not much wood was used.
main goal: follow his map to reach the abandoned castle ruins and see the rare animal specialist about the mysterious egg he has
