I think this is often for a few reasons
- it leaves a lot less room for characterization errors (if thats something readers care about, which sometimes they don’t mind)
- most shows and visual media is naturally done in third person so to read fan works for that media in first is unusual
- most fan works are done in third person and so it’s sort of seen as a default where as books have a full mix
For clarification
1st person: I sat in the chair and looked over to the window. “What’s Jon doing here?” I asked.
2nd person: You sat in the chair and look over to the window. “What’s Jon doing here?” You asked.
3rd person: She sat in the chair and looked over to the window. “What’s Jon doing here?” She asked.
Which works together with Past, Present, and Future tenses too. They aren’t the same things, but they do go together.
Past (3rd): Jon pulled out a chair and sat down.
Present (3rd): Jon pulls out a chair and sits down.
Future (3rd): Jon will pull out a chair and sit down.

the reasons i'm alone, i know by heart (rhett abbott x fem!reader)
“My–” Rhett broke off, his voice hoarser than both of you had expected, and he cleared his throat before trying again. “My hands are dirty.”
You looked down at them.
Dried white paint flecked over the tops of his knuckles, smudged over the tips of his fingers, flecked like freckles over his forearms. When your fingers traced over the specks of paint, you heard his breath catch as you looked back up at his face. You liked how he sounded, how he looked, wanted to know how he felt.
“Guess I’m going to be doing all the touching, then.”
A leak after a snowstorm. A long afternoon waiting for paint to dry. Another snowstorm, a power surge, and a connection that might just last past dawn. -- two chapter fic coming soon.

i am so concerned about those kids sleeping schedule, actors included, because they have to hunt at night but they have to research during the day and sometimes breakfast is at midnight and other times its 7am and what time do these kids get to sleep, also the actors would fall asleep in their respective characters rooms sometimes, which is adorable

Reading the Narrative of a second voyage in search of a North-West Passage, but like, I had to stop reading during the chapter by James Clark Ross becauae he keeps saying stuff like :
"We arrived there at midnight" or "we found this at about 3 am" or "It was 11 pm when we took rest" (not actual extracts but that's what if felt like reading his account of his trip to the magnetic north pole)
And I'm like...
Bestie. Please. When will you SLEEP. The sun might not be setting but you're still only a growing lad of 31 😭😭 who are you trying to impress?! 😭😭
Man, the amount of jet lag... It couldn't be me

I showed my mom like 2 minutes of Lockwood & Co, she liked it. I think I'll call that a win for now, just soon enough she'll FINALLY watch the whole show.

Dick Grayson, AKA Nightwing, was on a solo mission when he disappeared off the face of the earth.
He would be the first to admit; he'd been an idiot.
He'd had a fight with Bruce, and as a result wiped everything he could so that the Big Bat couldn't find him and interfere with his case.
He'd scrubbed everything with Barbara's help, gave Damian and Tim burner phones so that he could reach out to them, and fuckin bounced.
But he shouldn't have done that.
Because he'd lied to Barbara, to make absolutely certain Bruce wouldn't be able to find him before he was ready.
He'd gone somewhere for a mission on the entirely opposite side of the country.
And then he'd gotten shot with...some kind of gun.
He wasn't too sure.
But he didn't die.
After he pulled himself further into the forest, sure that he was going to finally meet his maker, the world...got bigger.
Dick shrunk, and could only watch in horror as his hands got pudgier and pudgier.
He was a baby.
He was a baby that couldn't even lift his head, and he could feel his memories starting to fade, seeming to be grabbed and shoved behind some sort of wall.
This tiny baby gets found by Forest Ranger Samantha Manson, a registered emergency foster parent.
So while the batfamily is salting the earth looking for Dick, he's being absolutely spoiled fucking rotten by the Manson Family; Daniel Manson, Tucker Manson, and Sam Manson.
Dick has...some memories. A few recollections.
But also the white-haired adult is floating again and waving the rattle-noise-maker, so those stupid thoughts can wait.
