-Going off from the last one Lightning always wanted to talk about what happened between him and his dad to Scott but he wasnt sure how to

-Scott then proceeded to tell Lightning about his Ma and how she used to beat him on how for most his childhood had deal with her liking his sister and treating him like shit to help him feel more comfortable

-Lightning's Dad always had high expectations and put a lot of pressure on him and ignored him when he failed, how after Cameron won, His dad had been ignoring his existence to the present

-The two often bonded over their parental issues

-Scott grew up eating dirt and gruel, the most he can cook is toast, bacon and eggs on the other side lightning is can cook amazing steaks and salads

-Scott of course pretends to hate Lightnings cooking, but in reality he made the best steak and salad you could ever dream of

-Lightning always calls out Scott for how skinny he is and always forces him to eat more steak

-Scott often replies to this with when is all the muscle in your body you get from steak going to work on his brain

-Lightning was willing to teach Scott how to properly cook a meal, leaving him a few simple ingredients to which one lightning since he realized he was missing some, when he came back Scott already burned himself and caused a fire

-they were supposed to be making hot dogs that night

-Scott likes tell Lightning hes a shmuck for being all rich and succesful and dare him to spend a week with him on the farm, to which of course Lightning said yes

-He quit after learning that all they had for breakfeast was a can of corn

-The amount of internalized homophobia i can fit in these two

-The two were very nervous to tell their parent about dating amother man but both their families were supportive

-Lightning started to fall for scott around the time he and courtney broke up

-Lightning and the other members of team dude were trying help Scott cope with the fact that courtney was just using him

-On the inside Lightning was kinda happy they broke up, mostly bc he knew courtney wasnt good for Scott

-Scott and Lightning insult eachother as a form of flirting with the other however the two arent too big on regualr flirtjng and compliments unless they feel like it

-As I have mentioned before, Scott and Lightning arent too big on regular romance but they do have their moments,

-Scott tried to cook something for Lightning bc he was having a bad day, and completly messed up and burnt the thing to a crisp, he was near tears at this so they just wrapped themselves up in blankets and cuddled for a while

-Both Lightning and Scott have scars after roti and they often caress the others scars as a form of comfort or reasurrment

-Scott has undiagnosed PTSD and depression, he often feels the need to push his feelings down and cover up anything he might make others feel like he is a nuisance

-He often has Nightmares or Panic attacks of Fang, Lightning feels guilty bc he is not good at comforting people and often needs Sam's help to make sure Scott doesnt hurt himself,faint,or hyperventilate too much

-In these situations the best thing Lightning can do is hug Scott and hope it calms him down

-Lightning likes watching sports live on tv or even better in the actual stadium, his favorite sports to play/watch are Football and Basketball, Scott despite not playing it himself argues with Lightning saying Baseball is better

-Lightning responds saying if he likes baseball so much to name every baseball player

Spoilers for the end of DGS2, but the thought has been plaguing me for a while now.

I just can’t stop thinking about how odd it feels that Asougi chose to be a prosecutor in the end. While some of that oddness definitely comes from DGS’s rushed wrap up post 2-5, I also just feel that Asougi’s own reasoning for becoming a prosecutor hits a little wrong.

Narratively I get why he became a prosector. It’s to set him up on an opposite but complementary path to Ryuunosuke (among other things), but I feel like for his own personal story, it doesn’t make a ton of sense the way it was done. At the very least, it feels like it’s a decision Asougi should have made much further down the line.

The rest goes under a cut bc this gets a little long.

When Asougi gives Ryuunosuke Karuma, he explains why he wants to become a prosuctor, saying the following:

“Because I’ve seen it now. I’ve seen what’s inside me. The demon that reared its ugly head that day. It was only for the briefest of moments, the last time I came face to face with that inspector... but it was unmistakable, I wanted to kill him. I’ve always known there are demons that live inside people. And now I know there is one in me. The fact that it very nearly consumed me is something I’ll carry with me until the end of my days... while I devote my life to fighting those whose demons have got the better of them... as a prosecutor!”

I don’t know if it’s just me, but if anything, it feels like this should reinforce Asougi’s want to be a defense attorney. Maybe that’s a little odd, but bear with me here.

He’s basically saying that while he knew that there were bad people out there with ‘darkness in their hearts’ (essentially), he’s come to realize that he too has this potential to do bad in him. If anything, shouldn’t that make him realize that good people can do bad things? Shouldn’t that make him realize that there are people out there who make mistakes? Wouldn’t it then make more sense that he’d feel compelled to help those people?

I understand that getting convicted of murder results in capital punishment here, but wouldn’t that make for a great new shift or addition in Asougi’s original goal of wanting to change the justice system? Now that he understands that good people can mess up, wouldn’t trying to change the law so that convictions aren’t necessarily so harsh be a great goal for him?

Sure, I get that Asougi’s goal wasn’t as noble as you’re initially lead to believe as it really had more to do with wanting revenge and all that, but with how he talked in 1-1, I can’t help but think it wasn’t all fake. I like to think that Asougi really did have ambition to change the legal system along with his goals of finding out what happened to/getting revenge for his father. But we’ll never really know since DGS2 couldn’t give us time to properly talk to Asougi about stuff like that.

Yeah, he can do this from the prosecutor’s side of things. No doubt that it would be much easier that way in universe, so in that instance his reasoning for becoming a prosecutor would track. However, from the way Asougi’s talking here, that doesn’t appear to be his goal at all. It really does come off more as “I want to contain the darkness within me while I punish those who let that darkness get the better of them.” It feels rather harsh, even if I’m unsure that it’s supposed to come off that way.

On top of all that, I feel like a character having this kind of goal would fit well with the themes of the game. DGS’s characters are not as black and white (for the most part) as the characters in the mainline games. Take a look at the true culprits across both DGS games. A number of them never intended to hurt anyone, and some that did never intended to kill anyone. There’s grey morality everywhere, and yet if a person is convicted of murder, they’re faced with capital punishment. (The games themselves sorta get around this by having the less guilty characters not actually kill anyone, which feels like a bit of a cop out, but I guess we can’t be too morally grey now can we?) A character trying to align the universe’s punishments with the grey morality seems like it’d be a nice fit, and interesting to boot, but I digress.

To bring things back to Asougi specifically, I suppose another way to read what he said is that this realization caused Asougi to lose faith in people, something he’s said is vital to being a defense attorney. In which case, becoming a prosecutor is his only real option if he wants to still become a lawyer, but there’s another issue I take with it.

When Asougi first tells Ryuunosuke he’s going to be prosecutor, he says he’s going to study under van Zieks to become as formidable as he is. The problem is that, not but a few days earlier, Asougi said that he’d never be able to forgive van Zieks. While that doesn’t mean that Asougi wouldn’t be able to work with van Zieks, it would no doubt be difficult due to those lingering feelings of resentment. On one hand, this tells us that Asougi is putting aside his feelings to better himself as a lawyer, which is good, but it feels very odd that Asougi would have such a change in attitude towards van Zieks in such a short time period.

Not only that, but van Zieks also no doubt has some conflicted feelings towards Asougi as well. Without getting into a big analysis on how van Zieks might feel towards Asougi himself post 2-5, I feel it’s safe to say that those feelings would be complex. Add on that Van Zieks has purposefully distanced himself from people for years, and while he’s shown that he's slowly moving past his issues, I can’t imagine he and Asougi would get along well at first for the same reasons I stated earlier. They could tolerate each other, yes, and ultimately, I do feel that they’d be able to properly accept everything and become good colleges... but again. That. Takes. Time. Likely a lot of time in their case. It’s just not going to be a good environment to learn in at that point in time.

It honestly feels like they’d get on better if they were rivals in the courtroom where they can grow to appreciate each other’s abilities without having to actually directly interact much at first like how van Zieks and Ryuunosuke did. From that point it would make a ton more sense if Asougi were to decide he wanted to change sides. Then again, maybe that anamosity and tentative truce would escalate if they were on opposite sides of the courtroom...

But look. All I’m saying is imagine if Asougi stuck with being a defense attorney and tried to change the law surrounding convictions. He ultimately could have become a defense attorney like Raymond Shields, where he takes guilty clients who deserve some sympathy in an attempt to get them less harsh punishments. It would have been cool.

TLDR: Prosecutor Asougi works, but it feels like a weird and awkward choice at that point in time. On the other hand, defense attorney Asougi could have been really cool.

I’m still mad about Bunny from an earlier post so here’s some headcanons for an au affectionately titled “what could have happen if CN didn’t nuke the one ppg with an intellectual disability”

Bunny has Down Syndrome!

The Professor is a little...tifted when he finds out his children made another child, but Professor is a man full of love, so he takes it in stride. He’s never mad at Bunny, but the triplets have a very long and thorough talking to.

Bunny is an adjustment, but so were the triplets. Professor adjusts well to the change. He doesn’t like his lil honey bun (cause ofc he has embarrassing nicknames for her too) to go out and fight. He doesn’t want her getting too overstimulated and would rather leave the bigger villains to the girls. He can’t stop Bunny from running to help when her sisters call though!

Bunny is no damsel in distress!

But for the most part, Bunny does her part for the team by helping the professor in the lab! She’s a little uncoordinated when she gets excited, but so is the Professor, so it’s a match made in heaven. She has her own lab gear and happily hands over tools and chemicals (w/supervision!) at the Professor’s request. She also very good at reminding the professor when it’s time for a break. Bunny doesn’t let him miss snack or bedtime.

She also makes sure his experiment have a touch of cutesy because Bunny loves her a bit of sparkle and frills!

Having a sister with an obvious disability is difficult for the girls in their own ways. But Bunny really teaches the girls a lot!

For Blossom, she has a hard time puzzling how Bunny was going to live a fulfilling life in an unforgiving world. Since Blossom strives for control over things she doesn’t understand, it takes her a little bit (and a few lectures from the professor) to realize that Bunny will find her own place and that she doesn’t have to be so anxious. Bunny will be fine. She’ll be okay. She’s not so fragile. (But Blossom still has bouts of extreme worry that her little sister won’t ever be accepted) Like I said though, Blossom strives for control and tries to help the Professor keep Bun well structured and safely entertained, but Bunny’s has an independent mind of her own and teaches Blossom that while structure is good, everyone deserves a little fun!

For Buttercup it’s a giant lesson in calm and patience, which if you follow the show, is generally the lesson Buttercup needs to learn. But Bunny isn’t Bubbles or another kid on the playground, she’s special in a different way and even though she has super powers too and can get a little rough—because Bunny often forgets her own strength—Buttercup has to often be remind that she needs to be gentle. It takes a little bit for Buttercup to realize that Bunny doesn’t get things right away and what Buttercup thinks is funny can be hurtful to her. But Buttercup does learn and she’s extremely protective of her baby sister. She finds games and sports that they both enjoy, and every once in while Buttercup will buckle down and play the princess that Bunny has to save. Fr Bunny and Buttercup never give up on each other.

Bubbles is immediately the best with Bunny. It’s not so much her disability that Bubbles has an issue with, it’s more like the family displacement. Bunny gets a lot of the extra attention Bubbles has been use to. Bunny and her like a lot of the same things—dolls, coloring books, things that glitter and sparkle, bright colors, stuffed animals etc. They’re both very much into everything girly. And that means Bubbles really has to learn to share. Her stuff, her sisters, her professor—everything. Sometimes she gets a little jealous, but after an incident with Octi (where the beloved stuffed animal was ripped in two and crudely taped back together by her little sister in apology), Bubbles eventually realizes that Bunny looks up to her as a strong, tough older sister and that’s A-Ok w/ Bubs. And I know it’s cliche but I think Bubs would give Bunny Octi—not forever mind you—they share.

School’s interesting! Bunny goes to preschool with them and gets her own special teacher. But kids can be cruel and the bullies of the preschool (which is, yeah, Mitch and his group) do what they do. The sisters learn early on how to deal with insensitivity and it’s not easy (especially for BC/Blossom), but with the help of Ms. Keane, the Professor, and Bunny herself, the preschool learns that Bunny’s just a little girl who likes to play too!

I mentioned this one in a previous post, but I think Mr. Green should be her parateacher instead of the girls substitute. That way his character can stay in the show and they can have the “don’t judge a book by its cover” episode. But now it can wrap back into the episode of Bunny’s first day of school to really hit the point home! Mr Green can explain that Bunny was “different” but the girls loved her anyway, so “hey give me a chance to, I promise I won’t let you down!” (The intensity of the episode would be heightened because the girls would be extra protective of Bun) (Bunny absolutely adores Mr. Green and Ms. Keane appreciates the help!)

Bunny teaches them how to stim!! Whether it’s flappin around or playing with slime the sisters like doing it together (and tbh they’re fun stress relievers that the triplets carry into adult life)!

Also, now that I think about, I don’t feel like Bunny would get over stimulated often, but it takes her a bit to calm down when she does. Bubbles is the best at calming her down when she gets too excited, but when she’s angry, it’d be BC. I think that’s because Buttercup’s marked as an aggressive kid and, like I mentioned earlier, her and Bunny’s relationship would be filled with “learning to be calm” lessons.

Bunny has sensory issues! Nbd we all do, but Bunny doesn’t like her ears being touched so sometimes it’s hard to brush her hair. She loves Blossom’s hair though and Blossom can usually convince her that if she wants long pretty hair she needs to wash and brush her own. Blossom and the Professor are the only ones allowed to touch her hair!

Sensory wise, Bunny only likes soft cotton clothing. Everything else is too ichy. She also only wears dresses because they’re both pretty and light. good thing t-shirt dresses exist!

Purple! Bunnies! Purple! Bunnies! She has a niche and my baby fills it!

Hard ‘T’s are hard for Bunny. They round into ‘D’s instead. So Buttercup becomes Buddercup except Buddercup can sometimes be too much too, so Bunny more often then not calls her sister Buddy and that’s how Buttercup eventually earns the nickname Bud.

If you h/c the girls with fingers, the Utonium’s learn sign language, which helps when Bunny become too over stimulated or has bouts of being non verbal! Buttercup has the hardest time, Blossom catches on the quickest, Bubbles and Bunny keep making up their own signs, and Professor’s just trying to teach them all!

Can’t stay in preschool forever! Kids grow up! Sucks though :/ because the girls don’t stay in the same class. But don’t worry the triplets make sure they always eat lunch with their sister! And two weeks into middle school they realize that their baby sister doesn’t need them much anyways. She’s the queen of the SPED room. She’s so helpful, kind, and popular that she’s socially doing better then her sisters 😂😂

Bunny really gets into gymnastics! She wants to be in the special olympics, but she has super powers and the Professor has to explain that having super powers is a bit like cheating. She throws a tantrum and Bubbles, with all her crafty genius, saves the day by making fake medals and trophies. The Utoniums though are still very involved in the special olympics and other like activities . It makes them all happy and Bunny gets to hand out the medals! (Helps that she’s a superhero 😏😉 always getting that special treatment)

Guys, my gal? She’s a huge flirt! If you’re like ew no, that’s morally wrong, you need to re-evaluate what YOU know about Down Syndrome! Yes developmentally she’s a little slower, but Bunny’s still a teenager—a growing young women—and very much human, so romantic idealtions are very normal. And that applies to all our friends irl too. It just depends on a persons mental capacity! Admittedly, the Professor was a little uncomfortable at first too because there’s consent and power imbalances to think about, but the people of similar age that Bunny interacts with on the daily are people just like her—like minded individuals with puppy crushes. You can’t deny a person their humanity, so when one of the boys in her SPED class gets the courage to ask her on a date the Professor buckles down and calls the boy’s mom.

Their date is a at a park, properly chaperoned by their parents. They swing and have a good time. They end it with a hug! It’s very exciting and Bunny doesn’t stop bragging about it. Two days later she’s broken up with her new BF for the next brave soul. (Truly everything stays completely innocent don’t worry. I can understand anyone’s concern—Bunny isn’t a sexual being she’s just a romantic. Also there’s ALWAYS a chaperone)

Her family still worries though. Blossom because she always worries about Bunny and the things Bunny could be missing out on. The Professor for much the same reason + she’s his little girl. Bubbles because her LITTLE sister keeps getting more dates then her. And Buttercup doesn’t worry much, but she is annoyed because if the Professor isn’t available, she’s the one who ALWAYS has to chaperone.

Why buttercup? Don’t let her fool you. She actually volunteers. She’d chaperone any of her sisters’ dates if Blossom and Bubbles would let her. Ain’t no gross boy touching her sisters.

Tbh bunny flirts with boys most of the time to embarrass and get a rise out of her sisters. She’s a lil shit sometimes. (It’s the spice in her)

Bunny also makes sure to keep her sisters IN CHECK. If she thinks they’re being too judgmental or mean to the “bad guys,” she makes sure they remember how they were mean to HER.

Most of the main villains though don’t know her. Mojo tried something once and ended up being carted back to Townsville Correctional Facility in a gurney. Bunny has an aversion to violence after the “you’re being bad” incident, so she isn’t one to fight/protect herself (protecting her sisters is another story tho lol she’d kill for them), but her sisters are fiercely protective. Incredibly protective. So protective that when the other main villains saw Mojo carted into jail they went 😬😬😬 and stayed away.

She meets Princess though! She likes Princess for all her glittery dress-up shit. Idk how yet, but I think she’d be a good catalyst for Princess’s redemption arc (along with Robin, who yes is also Bunny’s best friend). She thinks Princess’s hair is pretty and really let’s be honest Princess goes soft because she likes the positive attention. In Princess’s defense, she was never insensitive to Bunny’s disability. She’s a ppg and a ppg is what Princess wants to be. Sure, she’s petty, but goodness gracious, Blossom, she’s well versed in etiquette and that’s just uncouth.

And she meets the boys because she’s a flirt remember? Boomer’s name is her favorite but she never gets the “-er” part out. Just likes the way BOOM sounds. Her sisters have to remind her to use her inside voice, but Boomer’s a good sport about his ear drums being blown out and usually yells right on back. She thinks they’re cute! Like Princess, Bunny makes the boys feel liked and needed and helps them along their redemption arc! But they’re hesitant to be around her because they saw MoJo and....😬😬😬 (hell would freeze over before the girls let them near her anyway) (their fear is also why they aren’t completely insensitive shits towards Bunny—Mitch is a human so he got away from a beating, but someone like Butch?? Nah, BC’s always actively looking for a reason to decimate him)

Bun’s fave villain though is Fuzzy. He’s like a giant fuzzy pink teddy bear!

Bunny’s essentially made out of the exact same stuff as Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice. So what if she’s a smidge bit different. Everyone loves her just the same!

do u have any thoughts on the whole “tim is zapped to time prison” storyline? bc i feel like it could have been pretty interesting and a good way to bring back young justice/tim’s memories more immediately if it hadn’t been such a blatant attempt to just get tim out of storylines bc they had no ideas for his character

sorry lol u don’t have to respond i just kind of wish people talked about this storyline more? and the fact that tim lowkey became one of the only people in dc with knowledge of the other timelines (i think so at least) and nobody really addressed it?? like going into the next phase where people learn about other timelines after death metal.... tim should already know some of this stuff right?

YES YES YES OKAY LETS TALK ABOUT THIS this got incredibly long because I just have a lot to say (and i included screenshots) and i prob got a little off topic but. but lets get started anyways:

i haven’t read that particular storyline in a few months so i might be missing/misremembering some details here, but that whole ‘time prison + future tim’ thing was like. a really really interesting concept and the implications/impacts it has are a big part of why i liked tynion’s detective comics run as much as i did even with it’s flaws in characterization (such as treating tim like he was jimmy neutron boy genius and making steph..... be all ready to quit/breakaway from the team like that. the steph quitting characterization really started i think in batgirl convergence and unfortunately has haunted her since, even though pre reboot never giving up was like...... one of her defining traits. dc i hate you sometimes) 

i think that one of the biggest things that bothers me about the situation is how little we saw most of the other characters in the batfamily grieve (aside from steph and some with bruce, but again the way steph was portrayed just... hhhhhh. it very much reduced her to ‘tims girlfriend’ more than i’d have preferred) but otherwise like...as far as I can remember there was maybe one line in that monsters crossover thing where dick mentioned tim was gone, jason had a single line about avoiding the funeral in rhato, i dont think they showed any reaction from babs at all until after he was back, and the most for damian I recall is at the end of the 2014 teen titans run (#24) where he looks at... a case with the old red robin uniform Tim wasn’t even wearing anymore when he died? and that just bugs me. Instead of getting to see the actual funeral we get one flashback to it way after the fact once Bruce already knows Tim’s not actually dead

But at the time when they all DID think he was dead? the closest thing we see was in that same teen titans issue (#24) there’s a memorial-type ‘sharing stories’ thing after the funeral with tim’s titans friends but.... we don’t see something like that with his family. tim is a major presence in these peoples’ lives, they are his family, when he gets sent into time prison its even SAID how loved he apparently is

its just... idk. they all thought he was dead, and if they had put more emphasis on showing not just telling how that effected EVERYONE (not just steph) in the batfam, it might have felt a lot less like they were just putting tim away until there was a story idea for him. (like obviously I know they can’t make everyone’s stories revolve around Tim, but I’d have way preferred a detective comics issue of the funeral/memorial with the family than having there only be a teen titans one, I think it would have... held more relevance & meaning... but instead they just went right into that monster crossover story instead of lingering on this)

but then the Tim story itself once it does pick up way later, with titans tomorrow/future tim coming along having that whole “tell conner you’re sorry” “who’s conner?” exchange with current tim... that opens up A LOT of things to think about, and I think was pretty interestingly done if i’m remembering correctly. future tim recognizes the timelines are different, and ya know goes off to try to change things further ("whaddaya got there?” “a gun to kill batwoman” “NO!!!!”), theres lots of fighting etc etc the good guys win as we expect, but once that’s all settled tim’s left there with this whole. thought process

which ya know is the big indicator there’s weird timeline/reality fuckery going on (or also the read here can be that tim and kon are so connected across all space and time that their bond can transcend anything even timelines and realities and reboots... “and they were soulmates” “oh my god they were soulmates”) 

ANYWAYS lets not forget that tim isnt the only one who learns about this other timeline stuff during this whole situation!

Brother Eye has records of future tim’s timeline, and cass & steph see who they used to be! and as soon as steph finds out ‘holy shit i was ROBIN and BATGIRL?’ she also desperately wants to know more! which then a bit later leads into young justice 2019 where instead of going off to college like they told Bruce they were gonna, Steph and Tim go get the help of Zatanna to see what might be going on in their brains with these timelines and weird feelings (as we see in flashback form in yj 2019 #5)

and HOO BOY DOES SHE FIND THINGS! she gets in there and finds out that oh yeah, their brains had very much so been tampered with, and with her magic she undoes some of it, by unlocking memories, and Tim finally remembers Conner! (also in case u were wondering, that panel is specifically a callback to this one from yj 1998 #17 when Cissie quit the team)

one thing that I think is weird/interesting/idk if it gets... properly addressed even, was that Zatanna also poked around Steph’s brain too and she didn’t remember everything? Might have something to do even with how Tim had been in time prison, might have taken less work from Z to open things up because of that? Who knows

additionally i wanna call attention to how he said “That entire chapter of my life” which... leading into my next point a bit... strongly leads me to believe even though he’s remembering some things he definitely does not have ALL of his memories back (because theres a lot more than just the young justice ‘chapter’ of tim’s life that was drastically changed by the new 52 & rebirth) 

BUT moving on, i wanna bring up this part from later on (after they figured out that there was a crisis that caused things in the world to change, which is why their memories/brains were messed with) in issue #16

so yeah, I think it’s indicated even though Zatanna brought back some memories and opened up his brain a bit, there’s still many holes, and some things seem more like dreams rather than memories and he’s probably unable to tell which are which on his own to some extent. (also for reference the real thing that Tim thought was just a dream is... likely yj 1998 issue #1)

So based on the things i’ve brought up here (which are the things I remember off the top of my head, I could easily be accidentally leaving shit out LMAO i haven’t fully read through any of these books in at least 3 or more months now) I think it’s safe to assume that Tim definitely has a head start on getting back his memories before Death Metal happens, but that it was by no means a complete thing. So the after effects of Death Metal are probably just gonna... be a little less drastic for him vs most other people because it was already happening, but it’ll be kinda filling in the remaining gaps? 

And like you said he is absolutely one of the few people that already knew about about the timelines/the fact that these crises have happened and changed things, but pretty much all the other young justice characters are also aware that there was meddling in the timeline/that multiple timelines and alternate universes like this exist since they were all together as a group when it got explained (in like. yj 2019 #15 i believe is where most of the explaining happens) (and cass as well is aware of things to some extent because of her and steph’s interaction with Brother Eye) but the difference is that Zatanna didn’t go into everyone’s brains, so they aren’t dealing with the same memory things as Tim (and possibly Steph? because again Z DID go in her brain, she just wasn’t able to unlock all the same things as she did with Tim) 

but yeah in general i SO wish this was explored more, both in canon and in fanworks (fanworks tho... that can still happen >:3c). Memories hazily coming in for Tim while Kon and Bart are able to confirm or deny things, him dealing with conflicting memories and feelings about his past as they trickle in... like I think we’ll start to see these types of things moving forward across a lot of titles with Infinite Frontier (i BELIEVE dont quote me on this but I BELIEVE the person writing Damian’s upcoming solo had mentioned in an interview that the memories coming back of the other timeline aren’t going to be an all at once thing but will be more gradual for most characters) but the fact that it theoretically had already been happening for Tim for MONTHS and we only got that one crumb indicating it in #16 of it instead of any actual exploration makes me SAAAAAAD

Perry and Elisa headcanons:

Elisa thinks it's weird that a Nosferatu Thinblood has a Hecata-like bite, but it's Dove who, due to her experiences with Modian, immediately realises that Perry is a full blooded Samedi. When Dove raised the possibility that Perry might be Cappadocian to Elisa, she was worried they'd have to protect him from the Hecata (and that Dove would refuse to extend that protection because of the treaty), but Dove said "nah, he's Samedi, he's Hecata. He probably has that bane as the equivalent of a genetic throwback - sometimes that happens." (Dove would know.) Much relief ensues and Elisa helps Perry learn about the Samedi and Hecata, and even gets him in touch with a couple over time.

Elisa is pretty casual about the smell. She mentions it and she doesn't pretend it's not there either. "I'd hug you, Perry, but it's three AM and you smell like shit so I'll hug you first thing tonight." Perry is a bit defensive/standoffish at first but comes to appreciate it over outright hostility and/or when people "politely" pretend it's not there while obviously not wanting to deal with it.

For example, when Elisa gives him a room in her haven she'll be upfront about the fact she's using sheet/pillow protectors to stop him leaking on stuff, a room with no carpet so the smell doesn't get stuck in it, an ensuite so he can clean himself off easily... but unlike most, you know, she's actually offering a bed instead of pretending she doesn't have a place for him to stay, and she's also pretty "yeah you smell like shit in the morning but I'm just gonna have to deal with that." He's not sure what to think about this attitude in the beginning.

Elisa also teaches him to weaponise the smell. "You just met someone? Be considerate. Insist on meeting your contacts outdoors early on in the night, and standing downwind from them. They get difficult? That's when you start visiting them in their office an hour before dawn and sitting in their chairs and leaking on their upholstery. They'll soon get the idea that you're someone they want the goodwill of - and that's invaluable. Most fledglings have to work really, really hard to have that kind of power over somebody and all YOU have to do is change what time you're meeting someone. Use that."

The above point pretty much drove home to him that yeah she hates the smell, but not HIM, and she's willing to work with it. He develops a crush on her after that.

He does make a move when he's more confident, a few years later. She turns him down and at first he's pretty self loathing over it but they have an open discussion about the smell and she's like, "look, if I had feelings for you I'd just work with that - sexy stuff first thing after dusk when you're at your best. But I'm not going to pretend I'm interested when I'm not out of pity because we both deserve better. I'm sorry I hurt you but I can't say yes to this, not when I wouldn't mean it."

He got over it rather quickly, to his own surprise.

He has his own car. He calls it the Corpsemobile. When he gets the opportunity he loves to give people ultimatums - "either I ride with you and stink up your car, or you can ride in mine. And mine smells worse than the state I'd leave your car in."

Elisa helps set him up with a good ghoul - someone who runs a small mortuary. Puts a small mattress in one of the shelves, actually makes a nice comfortable haven out of it. It being a mortuary means the smell isn't suspicious, and he just pretends to the staff that he has a medical condition and its way less hassle to sleep in one of their drawers.

Getting the corpse stink out of his clothes is almost impossible so he's ALWAYS going through fresh clothes. Elisa helps set him up with another ghoul that can give him a steady supply of shirts, underwear and pants.

He hates getting pulled over because the second a cop gets a whiff of the interior of his car they think he's got a body in the trunk. Elisa uses her connection with Dove to get him a third ghoul in the police force, but when he's not in Tucson he's SOOL there.

He has discovered that maggots actually keep the smell down, as they eat away at the rot, so when he starts rotting a few hours after dusk, he applies maggots to the areas he sees are starting to deteriorate and wraps them in bandages. The smell doesn't go away completely but it does make a difference.

When he's outside of Tucson and a cop insists on searching his car, he peels away a bandage and says "actually, that smell is me." He also has a bunch of fake medical paperwork so that they don't insist on taking him to the hospital - he says he's on antibiotics and the maggots prevent the gangrene from killing him, and because of that he doesn't have to stay in hospital.

He knows a lot of facts about maggot therapy to make it convincing. In reality I'm pretty sure that gangrene is not something that you can be an outpatient for but most cops aren't going to know that if he can be convincing enough.

Once, he was travelling with Harley in the front passenger seat when they got pulled over in the early hours. He played dead as Harley desperately tried to get him to wake up to prove to the increasingly freaked out cop that he was alive and just had a "medical condition". After calling for backup and getting Harley on the floor, when the cop opened the side door Perry went "BOO!"

The cop shot him.

They had to kill the cop and bury the body to preserve the Masquerade before backup got there, because while they can cover up Perry's clan bane with "it's a medical condition", it's a lot harder to cover up a bullet through the chest.

Perry thought it was hilarious. Harley, who's a lot more squeamish about killing innocent humans and destroying the lives of their families and loved ones for the lulz, didn't think it was funny at all.

(Elisa backs up Harley but privately also thinks it's hilarious, except for the bit where they had to kill the cop. "It's one thing to kill to protect ourselves, it's one thing to kill because we're hunters eating our prey, but it's completely another to set up a human to die for your own amusement. Don't do that again."

"I didn't kill her for the lols, I just didn't think she'd -"

"SHE WAS A COP OF COURSE SHE WAS GOING TO FUCKING SHOOT YOU, YOU DUMBASS.")

Yeah, that prank did damage his relationship with Harley for a while.

BUT sadistic prank notwithstanding, he actually has a pretty good relationship with Harley. Harley wasn't sure about the stinky Samedi at first, but was too much the southern gentleman to be anything but polite about it. He quickly got used to it and saw Perry for the lost kid he was. Because Harley was in his forties when he was Embraced, he was pretty calm and difficult to faze, so he was able to rub off on Perry and help calm him down over time.

Perry and Harley were both furious at Lettow when Lettow came back to Tucson. The way Harlow saw it, putting Elisa through her First Season was completely unnecessary and Lettow could have properly vetted her, and also a huge risk to the Masquerade. The way Perry saw it, if someone of a different clan can put her own life on the line (due to the Accounting) to take in a complete stranger who'd been a Masquerade issue for nothing in return, the least Lettow could have done was look after his own fucking childe.

They were even less impressed when Elisa got sexually involved with him and then romantically, because they saw it as Elisa wanting the security of having a sire and Lettow exploiting that. Elisa, meanwhile, didn't appreciate being infantilised. She defended Lettow because "he kept an eye on me from a distance", and he left caches for her to discover and arranged for her to have jobs when the courier jobs started drying up. Harley and Perry were like "gee, how generous of him."

Perry was like "if I knew her standards were that fucking low I'd have asked her if she'd changed her mind about not going out with me"

Lettow was on thin fucking ice with the two of them for a while, and it took time for them to realise his feelings for her were sincere and that he wasn't going to abandon her again. In the meantime he rarely took their bait and let their attacks and accusations roll off his back - as an elder he rarely took things personally, understood it was between Elisa and her childer, and wanted to respect that she wanted to maintain some peace. Part of it was also due to guilt and self loathing. But he was also glad she had two very protective childer to watch her back, since he knew that safety and support was very important to her.

Harley and Perry also threatened to Fight Him, which caused Elisa to double facepalm bc one, Men, and two, elder with super strength and fortitude. Lettow just thought it was funny but also took the opportunity to bait them on being young and rash. He didn't resist ALL the time.

Lettow and Perry would never be close, but they came to respect the place the other had in Elisa's life, and even came to rely on each other every now and then.

I’m always down to head more thoughts abt just. things they do to make th other person smile. but also favorite things to do together? not necessarily Big Activities but the lil domestic stuff (like cooking, maybe chores they do together, etc) that’s just better bc they’re Both doing it

I'm always game to talk abt things they do to make the other smile!! One I think about all the time is the simple act of getting things for each other? Maybe sometimes before they even realize they want said thing, or that they need said thing. As you've mentioned b4 I do think Adam has one of those lavender-scented stuffed animals that you can put in the microwave (I have!! the celebration bear one, who naturally is named Lawrence bc he's blue... and uh... I associate teddy bears. w him) and sometimes, when Adam is doing poorly and has gone nonverbal, Lawrence will just be like "Oh! I know what might help!” so he’ll grab the husky from the bedroom (got Rlly attached to that idea when you mentioned it <33) and pop it in the microwave for a minute, rounding back to the couch to hand Adam one of his shirts to snuggle in and a kiss on the forehead. When he gets Adam’s husky from the microwave and hands it to him, Adam just kinda has a moment like oh... I didn’t even have to ask... and he smiles, for the first time that day, and honestly? It rlly does help, to have someone who knows what might comfort you/knows what types of things do, and who just. Does those things when you need them, sometimes without prompt. It’s an intimate kind of knowledge, and it makes Adam feel all warm on the inside.

Another good example of this is Adam making sure Lawrence has his cane while he's walking around the apartment, esp those first few months when he's just getting used to using it - because he's still learning + trying to get used to walking with his (properly fitted) prosthetic, he often left the cane in random places because Adam would often offer his arm if Lawrence needed it (which, again, took some time for him to be okay with, but Adam always tells him it's okay to need help sometimes), and it would frustrate him because he'd be sitting on the couch like "I. I don't know where I put it." but Adam will be like "It's okay, I know where it is!" and it's as simple as that! Lawrence can't help but smile when Adam hands it to him because Adam just. He gets how hard it is. It's so simple to Adam but to Lawrence it means a whole lot. <3

Something else is that Lawrence will remind him to eat. I've touched on this a little bit b4, but Adam has issues with food that extend past textures and tastes and such - his eating is very disordered, and has been since childhood. He doesn't eat three meals a day, sometimes he hardly eats anything at all (usually the bare minimum that will allow him to take his medications without getting sick), he tends to gravitate towards snacks/easy foods that aren't necessarily super healthy, and combined with him already being underweight + having spent the last seven or eight years since leaving his parents' place at 18 getting by on very little, it causes him frequent dizzy spells/fainting episodes. It also takes him a while to realize that hey, I don't have to spread my meals out anymore, I don't have to worry about getting food, and I don't have to feel guilty about eating when I'm hungry. I think Lawrence is a very observant person by nature, and while he might not understand it fully right away, I think he'd definitely realize that some of these issues are tied to the state of the apartment he'd seen only once + Adam's life from before.

So he doesn't force him to eat, obviously, because that doesn't work and helps no one, but he will definitely be like "Hey, I know you're not feeling great today, but why don't I grab you a granola bar or something? We have those oranges you like too. I just want to make sure you don't give yourself a headache or get sick." and admittedly Adam is. Not used to that kind of regard whatsoever. But it feels so much easier to at least eat something small when he knows Lawrence sees him, understands that it's hard and isn't forcing anything out of him. I do think that once they settle into a routine after moving in together, some of that becomes a little bit easier because hey, he's not living paycheck to paycheck, he doesn't have to survive off of ramen and monster energy, he's allowed to eat and not worry about what happens after. The stress of worrying about groceries is definitely nonexistent with Lawrence, and that takes so much weight off of Adam's shoulders; not to embtion the fact that Lawrence is also conscious about his same foods, and makes sure they've always got some in the kitchen. It's not easy, but having someone care about him so much, someone who wants to make sure he's eating right and caring about him like that always makes Adam smile a little bit.

For Lawrence, I think a big thing is just like... seeing Adam hanging out with Diana? There's nothing that will put a smile on his face faster than coming home from work to find the two of them in the living room, a Disney movie (or The Princess Bride!) playing in the background while Diana paints Adam's nails bright glittery blue and pink, because she wanted to practice patterns and she really likes the glitter. Her nails are already painted black with a glitter coat on top - "Adam's nails always look so pretty like that, and he said maybe I couldn't do full black, so he put glitter on them too!" - and he's sitting there, hand spread out on the coffee table while they both sit on the floor, talking about anything and everything that pops into Diana's head, and Lawrence just kind of stands there and watches for a little while. His two favourite people, relaxing together, enjoying each other's company. Adam turns around and Lawrence has always got this huge grin on his face, just like, "Oh, don't mind me. What was it you were talking about, Diana?" which of course prompts her to jump up to give him a huge hug, but after that she's right back to painting Adam's nails, and Lawrence is more than content to just sit in and listen. (He also absolutely adores finding Adam reading to her before bed, because he does voices and everything. He gets a little bit embarrassed about it at first, but once he sees Lawrence watching them with the most loving look he thinks he's ever seen, he just blushes, smiles back, and continues. Sometimes Lawrence joins in, but not always, because then it becomes a competition of voices and they'll never get Diana to bed if she's laughing too hard!!)

Another is that Adam is really good at pulling him out of his own head. He can usually tell when Lawrence is thinking way too hard about something, or when he's beating himself up for some perceived slight he feels he's somehow performed, or when something is bothering him and he's debating whether or not to bring it up for fear of bothering Adam. Often times he'll just sit beside him wherever he is, or lead him somewhere to sit down if they're standing, and he'll just guide Lawrence's head to rest on his chest and he'll just talk softly, making sure Lawrence isn't sitting in silence, knowing that Lawrence doesn't typically feel up to talking himself right away. He'll run his fingers through his hair and tell him about his day, or something he saw while scrolling through his phone/on TV, sometimes he'll read to him, basically just letting him know that hey, I'm right here, I know you're not doing great right now, and that's okay. I'm here for you. Lawrence cries sometimes when Adam does this, the relief of being held + feeling safe enough to express his emotions making it easier, but he smiles by the end of it because he knows how much Adam loves him + wants to make sure he's okay, and he knows that Adam isn't going to judge him. It's the safety of it all. <3

Favourite things to do together!!! Like you mentioned I like to think they do chores together! It’s just more fun that way. Again as you’ve mentioned b4, I think Adam has some difficulty with the dishes despite liking the repetitiveness of the task, both because of textures and because of his shaky hands - so what they do is Lawrence will wash the plates themselves and then hand them off to Adam, who will dry them and put them away/the strainer! They both find it helps a lot to just be around each other like this, listening to the radio above the stove and bumping hips, tapping their feet, sometimes humming along if they know the song well enough. It’s just a nice little routine. (Sometimes they dance in the kitchen after, and sometimes to the goofiest pop songs Adam has ever heard, but if you heard that, no you didn't.)

They like folding laundry together, too! That one is just because it's fun. Lawrence will toss him one or two of his shirts while they're warm because he knows Adam likes the feeling + stealing Lawrence's clothes, and every now and then Adam will throw a washcloth at him just 'cause he thinks it's funny (it is, especially bc Lawrence's gut response is to throw it back?? so they look like two dorks bc they're just throwing it back and forth???), and it's just a nice way to share space. Sometimes they get a bit too caught up in whatever is on TV (its on bc they both need background noise) and end up just sitting against the couch, two baskets of laundry on either side of them, and then eventually Adam will be like "Okay babe I think we should probably finish folding clothes now," and Lawrence will just groan like "I forgot that's what we were doing. Damn it." and they take a moment to laugh before they finish up. (Adam Loves hearing Lawrence swear bc he doesn't do it often, so even smth as simple as "damn it" cracks him up for a good minute lmao!!)

I do think they also enjoy cooking together!! Adam will hand him ingredients/assist in cutting vegetables/what have you; I think, for the most part, that Lawrence does the majority of the cooking, but Adam does help where he can! Sometimes he'll just hop up onto the counter and hand Lawrence things as he needs them, and Lawrence thanks him with either a squeeze to his hand or a kiss on the cheek, and Adam will joke about how he's basically just sitting there looking pretty, but he learns very quickly that Lawrence will just be like "Well, you DO look very pretty, so I think that's fine," and it ends with Adam red in the face but smiling into his hands anyway. The payoff is always a nice meal that they can sit down to together, and it's just such a peaceful, enjoyable thing for them to do together!!

Other than those three they'll take turns doing chores for each other - sweeping, dusting, tidying up the bathroom, things like that just to help each other out <3

juliet was born into a loving family in southern virginia , williamsburg to be exact . her family wasn’t loaded but they were comfortable enough that juliet could take guitar and piano and drum lessons and play sports and do basically whatever she wanted to try.

unfortunately for her parents , the drums were what really stuck with her . sure , she can still play the other instruments she learned growing up , but the drums were her safe space , her comfort .

nevertheless , they supported her because she was their little girl and as an only child , it was easy to spoil her . she loves her parents , wouldn’t trade them for anything in the whole world . because they were her whole world .

at 12 , her whole world came crashing down . she doesn’t remember much , if she’s being honest . all she really remembers was being pulled out of school and police officers telling her that her parents wouldn’t be back . they weren’t dead , as far as anyone knew , but they also weren’t anywhere to be found .

so her aunt offers to take her in , and juliet moves to irving . she starts going by jet , eager to leave behind the life she knew back in williamsburg . her aunt goes with it , doesn’t want to upset the 12 year old girl who just became an orphan . neither of them really talk about where her parents are , but they both hope they’re still out there , trying to make it back to her .

it takes a year or two but jet gets used to being in irving . it doesn’t just become her aunt’s town , it becomes hers . and the house in delphinus heights becomes her home , too. and when her aunt gets a girlfriend , who’s then a wife , jet is ecstatic . she loves seeing her aunt happy and in love .

at 15 , jet realizes she doesn’t like boys , she likes girls . she actually comes out to her aunt’s wife first – kind of an accident, really – , but everything goes smoothly and she’s never felt freer . at 16 , she meets a girl , a beautiful girl whose eyes rival the ocean , whose smile lights up her nights . and they fall in love , and it’s wonderful and deep and consuming and healing . but this is when jet learns all good things must come to an end . it’s when she’s running home , tears streaming down her face that she learns what heartbreak really feels like . it’s when she sits at her drum set , hole blown through the snare drum , cymbals crashing to the ground , that she realizes how close hate and love sit on a spectrum .

at 17 , she’s about to graduate and go to college when she changes her mind . she’s not going . her aunt’s not happy about it , but jet’s never really wanted anything but music anyway . so she gets a job , then another job , because ‘ if you’re going to stick around , you’re going to help pay the bills ’ . and it’s the beginning of something beautiful .

at 18, she starts producing her own music . it’s just some simple songs , but it’s a sign of progress nonetheless . she saves up money , uses what’s not for bills and rainy day savings to pay for a class . she learns everything she can about music production , music theory , recording , etc.

at 19, she joins a band , and it goes well until it doesn’t anymore . they’re getting gigs , they’re popular , but it’s breaking from the inside because everyone’s convinced they’re going to be the next big thing and their egos swell to the point where they can’t all fit in the same room anymore .

at 20 , she regroups , focuses on her own stuff again . she does some small producing work on the side , helping other artists who aren’t as well versed with the production stuff . it’s good money , good learning opportunity , and good exposure .

at 21 , she gets a job as a bartender on top of her barista job , hoping to save for her own place in irving . she doesn’t really want to move out but her aunt and her wife are trying to start a family . and she doesn’t want to be in the way .

at 22 , her aunt gets pregnant , and with her wife picking up more shifts to cover the impending financial burden of having a baby , jet decides to stay .

now ––

her parents are still missing , but honestly it’s been so long they may as well be dead . she still misses them , sure , but the whole in her heart isn’t as large as it was when she was 12 . at least not for the same reasons .

she’s still producing music , but it’s become more of her job than a hobby . it’s good money , for the most part , but she wants more time for her stuff .

her aunt gave birth last year and jet spends a lot of time with her cousin , frey . she quit her job as a bartender to take over as a full time babysitter , but she doesn’t mind . she loves playing her music for the little boy , though her aunts are weary about her teaching him the drums when he gets older .

she’s still writing and playing music , but she definitely makes time to go out and have a good time because why not ? someday you could just disappear and you would’ve spent your whole life agonizing over trivial things when you could just ~have fun~

her aunt still wants her to go school , tbh because that’s what her parents would have wanted for her . she struggles to bite back the ‘ well my parents aren’t here ’ on the tip of her tongue every time they have that argument .

becoming an orphan at such a young age kind of fucked her up , for the lack of a better term . she developed some anger issues as a teen , most of which she would take out on her drum set . lord only knows how many sticks she’s broken .

she love love loves playing the drums . it’s her absolute favorite thing in the world and it helps her calm down , get through a bad day , or even to make a good day even better . it lets her get a lot of her energy out and to her , it’s really the one thing she can count on to never leave . if she’s not near her drums , she’s probably tapping her foot or tapping her fingers on a table . it’s her go-to fidget move , which can get a little annoying .

her one serious relationship showed her how deep she could fall so she’s decided to not let that happen at all costs . she’s more of a hookup kind of gal , and a bit of a heartbreaker at that , but she’s honest with people . she’s not looking for a relationship . not right now , maybe not ever . once she actually has feelings for someone , she’ll avoid them or do whatever else to get over it . can’t get your heartbroken if you never let anyone near it , right ?

she’s a bit of a partier sometimes , especially when she’s got a lot of pent up energy . basically she’s got two sides , a fun party side and a sweet niece side. she’s got a wicked tolerance for alcohol , to be honest , but that sometimes means she’ll get crossed or not eat just so she can feel drunk faster .

Someone truly in the reddie tag saying Myra was not abusive and that she wasn’t like Sonia. Even saying Bev and Eddie don’t have similar arcs bc their abusive situations were entirely different and that people just reach to bend arguments in order to prove reddie. Biggest bs I have read in a while ahdhd

I’m assuming you are new to my blog, because uhh, I’m sorry to burst your bubble anon, but I am also someone who doesn’t consider Myra abusive. Idk what post you’re talking about specifically but I’d sure like to know what ‘proving reddie’ has to do with it, lol. But anyway, I have said before that I consider Eddie’s marriage to be toxic, but not abusive. These two people should not be married. And not just because Eddie is gay and doesn’t love her. Beyond that, they are definitely bad for each other. The entire marriage is a conduit for misery and deception. It’s a codependent circus of projection and enabling. It’s unhealthy as hell! But it isn’t abusive. And here’s why I think that: 

Stephen King wasn’t trying to make a point that Sonia and Myra are exactly the same. He was, however, making a point that when people enter into adulthood and adult relationships while carrying a bunch of baggage from trauma they never properly dealt with, the cycle will continue in one way or another (this is why Eddie and Bev are ‘parallel’ characters, not the surface-level abuse interpretation). Eddie suffered from emotional abuse for most of his life; Sonia was very calculating and intentional about it and made sure that she always held sway in Eddie’s life to suit her own needs. The result is that Eddie is a very inexperienced and sheltered adult who believes in all of the lies his mother told him. He tried to move out three times and failed each time. Sonia controlled him until the day she died. It’s all Eddie knows. So in his mid-thirties, alone in the world for the first time, he doesn’t know how to take care of himself and, more importantly, believes he can’t learn. Because of his history of abuse and control, Eddie can’t fathom taking the reins in his own life and instead seeks out someone who will take care of him the way he’s become accustomed to. 

So, Eddie meets Myra and latches onto her because she’s inexperienced and malleable, like him. She physically reminds him of his mother, so it’s easy for him to project onto her all of the abuse Sonia inflicted on him. And because that life was all he knew, it was also what made him feel comfortable, so he nudged Myra into the role he wanted her to fill - a replacement mom. He did this subconsciously at first, but he was able to recognize it before they got married… and then he decided to go through with it anyway. 

Eddie brought a lot of baggage into that relationship, baggage that Myra was most likely completely unaware of. Obviously he’s a repressed gay man, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Eddie doesn’t love Myra, but it’s not just because he’s gay, it’s also because he has created a maternal figure in her and, since he (rightfully) resents his mother, he also resents Myra. She conforms to that caretaker role and enables everything he’s learned from a life with Sonia, and he in turn enables her bad habits too. Enabling is toxic behavior, but it isn’t inherently abusive. 

But then, when he leaves to go back to Derry, it all comes to a head. She freaks out because as far as she knows, he’s very sick, and he’s leaving her without an explanation, this man who she is married to and financially dependent on. She has no idea how to communicate, so she resorts to panicky, emotionally manipulative attempts to get him to talk to her and stay. On the flipside, Eddie has no idea how to communicate with her either, so he withholds information, deflects, and snaps at her in moments of frustration. They both have irrational thoughts about hurting each other and they both do and say things that make the situation worse. They are both VERY bad at communication. Because they’re both grown adults with almost no relationship experience outside of each other and are therefore emotionally stunted. 

That whole chapter reads, to me, like “bad breakups 101″ - one person can’t articulate how they feel so they’re deflecting and coming off as cold, and the other person is so over the top emotional that they end up making no sense and coming off as hysterical. And it’s no wonder! If you make it to your late 30′s without ever having much of a social circle or relationship experience, you’re not going to know how to act in a situation like this. And this applies to both of them. If what Eddie says about her is true, this is probably the first time Myra has ever been left by a partner, and it’s happening suddenly and with no explanation. So, she’s hysterical and resorts to manipulation - not out of habit, but out of desperation (Eddie makes the distinction that this isn’t typical behavior for her!!). For Eddie’s part, this is the first major decision he’s made in probably his whole life, and he doesn’t know how to explain himself, so he just… decides not to. And because he does not love Myra, he is completely emotionally detached from her. Their individual reactions to the situation just make it worse for them both - Eddie shutting down makes Myra more hysterical, and her hysterics cause him to shut down more.

People like to cite a couple of damning quotes about Myra as proof that she’s exactly like Sonia, but making that argument requires you to actively ignore the damning quotes about Eddie. There are also quite a few quotes that highlight the differences between her and Sonia, things Eddie himself acknowledges, as well as quotes about the guilt he feels for knowingly projecting his own baggage onto this woman. (Note: see the posts linked at the end of this for a breakdown of all those quotes) The text makes it clear that this was never a happy marriage. Neither of them are better for being in each other’s lives. They don’t help each other become healthier people. Rather, they both actively enable each other’s toxic habits. The marriage is, in a lot of ways, a form of self-harm for Eddie, and he knows it - upon Sonia’s death, he exited the cage his mother built for him and then built a new cage for himself and threw the key at Myra’s feet. For her part, I believe Myra began as an unwitting enabler but ultimately realized that she gained a “purpose” from the relationship (being a caretaker, being “needed”) and subsequently turned a blind eye to all the ways it wasn’t actually a healthy marriage. 

This is such a long post already but I want to make it very clear that Eddie’s cycle of abuse continuing does not actually require Myra herself to be abusive - rather, it is Eddie’s projection onto her that exacerbates the toxic environment. It’s the ghost of Sonia that haunts him in that chapter and throughout the rest of the novel. Myra is not a villain in Eddie’s life - he hardly even thinks about her after he leaves. This is one of the main points that make Eddie and Bev’s parallel arcs different - Bev very clearly has a secondary villain in her life, Tom, and she gets the closure of him dying in the end. But Eddie doesn’t need closure about his marriage, because Myra is just an extension of what Sonia did to him. 

The one time he does think of her unprompted is during his walking tour, and it’s such a great example of what his marriage actually means for him: when faced with the leper offering him a blowjob and other IT manifestations, he wishes he was home with Myra. He doesn’t think of her badly - he’s not afraid of her in any way. But she represents his comfort zone. IT is forcing him to confront things like his repressed sexuality, and he decidedly does not want to do that. That’s the only moment he “misses” Myra. But he doesn’t actually miss Myra. He misses the way her enabling allowed him to escape from having to face himself. And that’s really what it comes down to - Eddie’s marriage is toxic because it’s an escape, a way for him to avoid having to grow as a person and face the hard realities of who he is and what his mother has done to him. Myra isn’t evil, she’s not a calculating abuser like Sonia was, but she is toxic because her very presence prevents Eddie from reaching his full potential and being happy. 

Sonia’s abuse permeates Eddie’s entire life, even well after her death. Her actions dictate how he sees himself, as well as how he acts in relationships. Sonia is the reason Eddie’s marriage is the way it is. Hell, Sonia is the reason Eddie’s marriage exists in the first place. It is Sonia’s ghost that continues to manipulate him throughout the book and it is Sonia’s voice he needs to overcome in the end. If Myra were truly abusive, she would matter more in the overarching narrative of Eddie’s trip to Derry. But she doesn’t matter and because of that, she’s never really given a personality or motivations. She’s truly a blank canvas for Eddie to project his issues onto, and then he simultaneously berates himself for projecting and resents her for existing within his projections. Through all of this, everything always comes back to Sonia. Due to the vast disparity between their respective levels of influence, placing Myra on equal footing with Sonia is, in my opinion, a form of downplaying how bad Sonia truly was. 

Finally, and it’s wild that this even needs to be said, people need to recognize that saying ‘Myra isn’t abusive’ is NOT the same thing as saying she did nothing wrong. Myra was an enabler and that’s not okay, whether she meant to be or not. She also had moments of manipulation, terrible communication skills and poor emotional regulation. She was a toxic presence in Eddie’s life. Saying she isn’t abusive doesn’t mean I’m excusing her actions. But it’s also important to recognize that the chapter in which she appears has a lot more nuance to it than some people realize, and it’s necessary to hold Eddie accountable for his part in making that night so difficult. On that note, holding Eddie accountable and recognizing his harmful moments is not the same as calling him abusive either (fsr that’s become some kind of urban legend, but literally no one ever said he was! ever!!). There does not always have to be an abuser and a victim - sometimes bad relationships are just… bad.

Eddie is obviously a lot more sympathetic than Myra because we know about his past and get his POV. We know that he’s a good person. We also know that Sonia is the root of all of his issues. But the fact is, he has some shitty moments in that chapter, just as Myra does! His past experiences are not an excuse for that, they’re just an explanation. And, because I know there are people out there who equate accountability with victim blaming, being able to recognize where Eddie went wrong and why he entered into this marriage to begin with is NOT the same as saying he deserved any of his misery. There’s a huge, huge difference between accountability and blame. Holding people, even fictional characters, accountable is a good thing. In the end, Eddie is a very damaged person - an inherently good person, to be sure, but sometimes damaged people who are inherently good can, and often do, create, foster, and contribute to unhealthy relationships. It can’t all be unquestioningly pinned on Myra.

Long ass autistic Kyle hc

Kyle is the type of kid who was so smart and did so well academically....no one thought there was anything “wrong”

So Kyle had no support system or frame of reference for his experiences, which led to.....a lot of issues especially with how he sees himself and his relationship to others

Kyle has an incredibly self-centered mindset. Not in a morally negative way—it’s just that thinking about others doesn’t come naturally to him. He tends to kind of forget that other ppl are affected by his actions or that they have perspectives and emotions different from his own

Again, if Kyle had support for this, he could’ve learned from a younger age how to better think about other people....but

Kyle was always “right.” He was always treated as though he and his POV was correct, and everyone either followed him or took his side

That gave him the mindset that he is correct always and didn’t encourage him to consider other ppl as much

Furthermore, Kyle has a very black/white view of things, and a strict internal logic

If something doesn’t make sense to kyle then it’s wrong. And he gets frustrated when things don’t make sense to him, even if his view is very narrow

He also has issues with managing his emotion, especially his anger

He tends to have frequent meltdowns and needs time and space to himself, but he doesn’t realize that’s what’s happening or how to really deal with it properly

He also has communication issues (mostly due to the aforementioned “self centeredness”) and bc of that, he isn’t always able to get his logic and his view across

So when he can’t explain something that’s obvious to him, he’ll get frustrated and meltdown

Also Kyle tends to fixate INCREDIBLY HARD on things that don’t make sense to him

So if he has a question he wants answered, he’ll ask it over and over and won’t stop or listen to anything else until it’s answered.......and get frustrated if someone doesn’t just explain it to him

Even if it seems petty or minimal to other ppl, it becomes the most important thing to Kyle in tuat moment

Bc of kyles self-centered perspective, he also tends to assume that everyone else adheres to the same logic he does, and therefore, will feel the same way he does

So if someome is hurt or upset or has any other reaction Kyle doesn’t, he assumes they’re just wrong and that their emotions come from faulty logic bc that’s how kyle functions

(Even if Kyle has a lot of emotions and doesn’t really know how to control them himself)

He also tends to be incredibly blunt and honest bc of this, and most of the time has no idea if he’s coming off as rude bc if he’s saying smth that wouldn’t hurt him, why would it hurt someome else?

Or, his brain becomes fixated on the thing, and he doesn’t even think about why he’s saying it or why it should be said

OR he has an internal sense of logic and honor that dictates he must always tell the truth, even if the “truth” is only his own beliefs or is unnecessary to point out

It’s why he felt ok dismissing stan when stan was depressed, but was so torn up with guilt over TP’in a house

For one, he didn’t understand what stan was going through, literally couldn’t and refused to put himself in Stan’s POV, and thought that stan was overreacting (following patterns he’d had established that no one ever tried to challenge)

But when he TP’ed a house, it’s smth he knew he shouldn’t have done (rules are comforting, and make sense) and smth that Kyle wouldn’t have liked to happen (and it messed with his internal sense of justice, which involves truth and honesty)

With that also—kyles internal sense of justice is highly dependent on honesty, logic, and rules/authority

(This is emphasized by Kyle’s mother, who raised him strictly with clear rules)

Whether Kyle feels morally bad about what he does doesn’t really matter—he’ll just feel bad about rule breaking as a concept, UNLESS he can use his own logic to circumvent them or explain his way out of them

Kyle is always right, Kyle works on logic—it’s why kyle is always trying to explain away his mistakes or actions, and why he’s so resistant to change or to the concept of being wrong/making mistakes

It doesn’t work with his internal logic, he never accepted the concept of failure

This isn’t just a personal failure, but is also influenced by his upbringing and “gifted kid syndrome”

His parents and likely his teachers set high expectations on Kyle for being the “good” and “smart” kid, and bc Kyle always succeeded, he eventually was pressured into feeling like he always had to succeed, he always had to be right, and attached a personal value onto that

If Kyle isn’t right, then he has failed and failure is a personal failing that he puts on himself

It’s why being wrong crushes him as well

And again. A lot of this is because kyle never got any help or support as an autistic kid

People assumed this smart kid was fine and couldn’t possibly have anything he ever struggles with, even though he’s struggling socially and with his own self-identity (which he has tied to actions and the way people see him)

It’s also why his relationship with cartman is so important to him—with cartman, Kyle is always right, and fighting w cartman just reinforces kyles comfort zone and makes him feel secure in himself

Which is dangerous, bc it not only causes that codependency, it makes it so that kyles sense of self is externally based instead of internally based

Everything kyle thinks abt himself and who he is, is dependent on how other people see him, which isn’t a stable perspective and it drives him to resist change and reject when other people change or can change

It causes him to have very fixed views of people and how they would work or think—like caricatures—and it distresses him if they act “out of character” or in a way he doesn’t expect. He ends up being incredibly mistrusting of others and suspicious of their personal progress

And he also again tends to be self-centric and won’t even think about the possibility that they have lives and motivations outside of him

And again. A lot of this could’ve been avoided if someome looked at this socially struggling, self-centered child with anger issues and tried to help him

And headcanon that Kyle himself never knew he was autistic until he was late into his teens—bc his mother offhandedly mentioned it

As in, kyles parents knew he was autistic, but never mentioned it to him

Which. Fucks Kyle up a lot, bc it messes with his sense of self and his assuredness in his abilities/thoughts/etc

Kyle accepted a lot of “truths” about himself that arent even true but they didn’t make sense otherwise without the framework of being autistic

Kyle is a picky eater, Kyle hates being touched, Kyle hates people, Kyle is disliked because he’s too honest and frankly mean, etc

When really those are: Kyle has specific sensory sensitivities and struggles with social situations and therefore is uncomfortable or makes others uncomfortable bc he can’t read others well

I think after finding out he’s autistic, Kyle would try to use his autism as an excuse

Instead of trying to change any part of himself he’d whip out the “oh I’m autistic” card

Until craig calls him out on his bullshit, because, dude, shut up

Even though certain things are difficult to learn, they’re not impossible and it’s a process Kyle needs to go through or else he’ll remain an isolated, selfish asshole

hello, anon? whoever you are, legitimately, thank you so much, this means so much to me. hell YES i can.

Short summary statement: A fic covering a season where May and Drew both go to Sinnoh to do a season of coordinating there. Drew experiences some pretty terrible Gifted Kid Burnout here, and has to cope and learn from that. May is having an excellent season, but is worried for her friend and wants to help however she can. She also wants to understand if what she’s feeling for him is romantic, or if the fact that tabloids have been reporting on their “romance” is just pressuring her.

The primary focus of the fic is a critic of how coordinating world and the press treat the children, which is unhealthy and hurtful. It’s a broader critique about how a lot of pokemon fanfics go as well - I see a lot of times the “oh wow the media thinks we’re a couple!” used as a plot device, but it’s only ever just that. How that might… effect them is never covered. We don’t really have a lot to go off of in canon, but judging by the one scene where all of these adults keep showing their merchandise of Drew (who is clearly uncomfortable with all of this), I’m making what I think aren’t crazy leaps.

There are also some multi-media elements - basically Ch@tot (pokemon twitter) chats and Rotomblr (pokemon tumblr) posts about all of the events that are happening so we’re able to see the public reactions and get different perspectives on them.

The romance thing is also crucial for me - spoiler alert, they are going to end up together, but that’s… only going to happen basically after they flee all media attention aftet the season is over and just chill for a while and see how they feel. I’ve had an experience in my life where people kept “shipping me” with a real dude, and that’s a whole other thing, but I can attest that it’s not great, so I want to dip into that.

“Well, everybody wants to know if you two lovebirds are together, so I HAD to at least ask-” He laughs, as if they’re close friends just bantering. It makes her blood boil.

“No you didn’t. You didn’t have to ask about a sixteen year olds love life! You just chose to!” And she knows she shouldn’t interrupt - that’s a rule that’s been drilled in since day one. It’ll reflect poorly on her, people won’t like her. But he’s being such a bastard, she couldn’t control it. The camera’s keep flashing.

“… and with you already having five ribbons so early, compared to Drew’s single ribbon and a pathetic season, I wondered if that would cause tension between you two.”

Her heart pounds against her chest. She seethes with anger, any attempts to hide it dismantled. The flashing is now blinding, and with horror it dawns on her:

This was… all they were going to be talking about. Not Drew!  He’d finally be getting a break from the media circus, which he so desperately needed. But this was going to be pretty brutal for herself. How was she going to turn this around?

contestshipping (may and drew from the pokemon anime) has always been a very special ship for me, ever since i was younger. the way i think about them a lot has changed (notably thinking of them as more dimensional, and also examining some of the Het-ness for lack of a better words), but they still mean a lot to me!

May and Drew have always been characters I’ve projected onto a lot (for example, I HC them both as having ADHD, even though Drew doesn’t really.. have the typical symptoms. it’s my free real estate!) One of the most common projection… daydreams, I guess, involves my own experiences with Gifted Kid Burnout, which I usually project onto Drew. I feel like May has had a lot of tribulations which have taught her to perservere, but from all we’ve seen, Drew is basically a prodigy.

HOWEVER, we do know that he  didn’t handle losing his first contest well. I’m basically just deciding that he doesn’t handle failure very well.

Combined with the fact that canonically he is seen as a media personality, and again, canonically he… doesn’t want to be, makes me think that a year that doesn’t go so hot could be reallly lucrative to the press. They run a lot of stories about him - is he the real deal? is he destined to fade out into nothingness?? and then all of this pressure makes him even more nervous and it just compounds.

Drew being in the hotseat also gives them reason to bring up the whole Are Drew And May Dating thing! their rivalry/friendship is pretty well known, and like. they definitely have a lot of ppl on rotomblr and ch@tot (im so sorry but i am legally required to use these dumb names) Shipping them (their name is Dray, bc in universe it couldn’t be contest shipping. i despise it.)

This is very uncomfortable for both of them. Drew knows at this point that he likes her, but he doesn’t think it’s mutual and he wouldn’t even know where to start with trying. He’s happy as things are. May is still trying to figure out how she feels and what she wants, but this is obviously a roadblock. This is also frustrating because she - an aspiring journalist - is angered not only by the actual situation she’s in ,but also from a writing ethics perspective.

The antagonizing force in this fic is The Media, scary capitalized. It isn’t between either of them and their dynamic. At no point do I want the issue to be that they aren’t communicating properly or anything - Drew at no point is jealous that May is doing so much better then him. He’s just very proud and happy for her.

and im actually gonna answer for their original Fable timeline bc ive been feelin nostalgic recently

Their physical weak spots

Logan - depends on his age and/or stress-levels. He has a fair amount of upper body strength from swinging twin swords around all the fucking time, but it wouldn’t be ridiculously hard to overpower him if you could disarm and get hold of him - however, he’s fast, agile and extremely skilled, and it’s getting hold of him in the first place that’s the issue. In the middle of his reign, on the other hand, his body condition takes a dramatic dive - he’s pretty severely underweight and loses a lot of his muscle tone, and it really wouldn’t take much at all to best him. 

Lucius - Lucius is a big, heavy mercenary who fights with a broadsword, so it’s hard to get the best of him in a one-to-one melee fight. However, he’s missing his left eye and is deaf in his left ear - subsequently if you use a little bit of stealth and come at him hard and fast from the left, you’ve got a pretty good chance of getting the jump on him. He’s also into middle-age and despite having decent reactions, a younger man of the same build as him might just pip him to the post.

Their emotional/moral weak spots

Logan - oh god lmao. Logan’s a mess, but his primary emotional weak spot is his siblings - be they his original two (hey queenie and dorian) or Morgan. I think he feels a bond that’s closer to paternal than fraternal, and I think the only way he can really justify to himself the pain he puts them through is telling himself he’s doing it for them. ok honestly, he will do fucking anything for them. at the climax of the revolution, the primary thought running through his head is how fucking proud he is. be nice if he said it out loud every once a while - hell, itd be nice if he’d just asked for some fuckin help before causing the literal death of hundreds of people - but yknow. thats just going one step too far i guess

Lucius - he’s a bleeding heart. when Morgan and his little band of rebels rock up in the Dweller village, Lucius is already there running supplies up and down the mountain to them; he watches way too many kids starve to death, and joins up with the rebels in order to lead them through Mourningwood. then he gets a crush on morgan’s little bitch face and just like. never leaves lmao. He’s easily blinded by injustice and gets worked up really quickly when he sees wrong being done - it can lead him to act recklessly or thoughtlessly at times.

Scars or painful spots

Logan - asides from the obvious scars across his lips (fencing wounds when he was a boy), he took some nasty damage from the Crawler during the three days he was trapped in the Auroran cave - he’s got a network of scars on his back that look a little like lashmarks. they hurt when they’re touched and he Does Not talk about them. he’s also got a few other scars here and there on his arms and chest from miscellaneous scraps and scuffles, and he has a deep puncture scar on his abdomen from an assassination attempt, but the less said about those the better.

Lucius - lmao Lucius is literally missing half his face to scar-tissue. he was attacked by a dog as a boy and it left him heavily messed-up. he’s also a merc, as i said, so he’s got a lot of miscellaneous old wounds but nothing quite as obvious as the ones his face. 

Best places to kiss on their body

Logan - oh, the neck, bitch. he’s also kind of a slut for being kissed on the insides of his wrists; anywhere vulnerable, basically. if you could kill him there, kiss him there. freak-ass bitch.

Lucius - dude just likes a nice traditional french kiss man nothing crazy. but also definitely give him a blowjob. i know this question said kissing but lets be real thats kind of a kiss.

Guilty pleasures

Logan - he reads really terrible novels. like…really terrible. he pretends he’s reading something highbrow and intellectual but its actually a shitty romance recovered with something suitably acceptable and nobody can know

Lucius - he doesnt have any ‘guilty’ pleasures tbh, he just enjoys stuff unashamedly. he’s too thick to feel guilty

Logan - lets be real, he’s probably done, like. an impressive amount of coke. i guess the terrible sleeping and eating habits are probably also a vice but like. it’s mainly the coke

Lucius - he smokes like a fuckin chimney

Logan - not only does he not have any, but you would also die for trying. Elrick disagrees.

Lucius - his ribs, but he is uncontrollably violent when he’s tickled so its a real good way to get a broken nose. he doesn’t mean to do it, he just spasms. 

Bad memories/experiences

Logan - lmao. I’ll skip the most obvious (the 3-Day Auroran Extravaganza) because i think that goes without saying - it left him with crippling PTSD and damaged his mind heavily and insidiously. he was already pretty traumatised by his childhood and i think being forced into so many responsibilities so young also messed him up a little. it’s more like….rather one one or two specific experiences, its more just a general feeling of Bad that has stuck with him throughout his life. It was worsened by his later experiences, and essentially primed him for failure.

Lucius - yknow i was thinking about how to word the answer to this question and i realised that i accidentally made Lucius into Batman. His family farm was attacked and burnt to the ground by bandits when he was about 12; his parents and siblings were killed, and he only escaped by hiding in the coal-cellar. Later, he joined up with the mercenaries to try and track down the group that targeted them. fuck hes batman. i didnt mean to batman

Humiliating memories

Logan - oh man his father was a pro at humiliation. mistakes or oversights werent just punished, they were fuckin learned from, and he figured the best way to do this was humiliation - generally through public displays of What You Did Wrong and repeated recitations of the mistake in front of the people whose opinions Logan valued. It was kind of the catalyst for his inferiority complex and intense desire to succeed without input from others. 

Lucius - again, Lucius doesn’t really experience embarrassment - he’s kind of too laid-back for it. yes, it was embarrassing the one time he fell over carrying two milk buckets and threw them all over himself in front of the handsome boy from the next farm over and the guy started laughing at him but like. you live and learn and the dude turned out to have a really ugly laugh anyway so who cares

Fears/phobias

Logan - he’s always had claustrophobia, but after the Auroran Experience this intensifies to a whole new level, and he also develops crippling nyctophobia. part of this is due to his hallucinatory psychosis - he sees things pretty much constantly, but it worsens in low lighting - but it’s also due to the fact that there may very well be actual Things in the dark and he struggles to tell reality from hallucination

Lucius - dogs. fuckin dogs. he hates dogs theyre literally so scary even the small ones bc the small ones move so quick and you never know when theyre gonna come at you

Bad or petty habits

Logan - oh, he’s just a petty bitch. he’s also outwardly arrogant, even if his internal feelings don’t match up to that. drily sarcastic, too, tho a person only really sees that when they get past the walls he throws up - Elrick is very familiar with it. 

Lucius - he’s constantly standing to the right-hand side of people and then he wonders why he cant hear them properly

Grudges and vendettas

Logan - he’d hold a grudge against his father if he wasnt dead. he also holds a pretty heavy grudge against Theresa for not just fucking telling him.

Lucius - at first, only against the bandits that killed his family, but once he deals with them hes kind of at a loss as to where to go next. fortunately Logan starts starving people shortly afterwards, so if nothing else it gives him a kickstart into the rest of his life. Subsequently, Lucius will hold a vendetta against Logan for the rest of his life, even after he has been in a relationship with Morgan for years - he will never forgive him for the shit he put the common people through, and he doesnt really give a shit about the ~pressures~ Logan was under at the time. fuckin excuses, man. 

Ingrained habits/forces of habit

Logan - his terrible sleeping/eating patterns. even before trauma and night-terrors made it almost impossible for him to sleep peacefully, he didn’t get more than 5 or 6 hours a night, if that.

Lucius - if something is smaller than him, he’ll protect it. he’ll also protect things bigger than him, if given half the chance. hes basically a golden retriever in human form, which is ironic considering his feelings about dogs.

What it takes to make them cry

Logan - would rather die than cry, quite literally.

Lucius - his heart is softer than butter, he’ll cry at anything. he’ll cry at an injured pigeon on the street. 

Dark secrets/’skeletons in the closet’

Logan - never, ever, ever talks about what happened in Aurora. The details die with him.

Lucius - he doesn’t really have any - he’s not ashamed of much in his life, and he’s never done anything terrible enough to render it a skeleton. 

People they’ve hurt or indirectly killed, and how it affected them

Logan - L M A O. yes, it affected him terribly, but tbqh however much its affected him kind of plays second fiddle to how much his actions affected other people.

Lucius - has killed a lot of people who deserved it during his mercenary years, and justifies it to himself by being absolutely certain that they did deserve it. sometimes he doubts this, though, and that doubt plays a big part in his eventually getting out of the game entirely

People who’ve influenced them greatly

Logan - Walter, tho he’ll never admit it in a million years and he still definitely kneecapped him right at the start of the game so idk what that says about him

I do :0!  It’sall a bit messy & not too specific cause tbh... I’ve barely worked on thisidea (and also I had to write this on my phone, rip) but uuuuh here it is:

(Some basics before I really get into it: Mirage hasn’t been killed in thisAU obvs, no Unicron either. The Lost Light’s adventure ends mostly like it doesin canon afawk (the finding of “cyberutopia”, showdown with getaway, defeatingfunctionist universe council etc), and afterwards everyone returns to Cybertronbefore going their own way) So:

Like I said, Mirage returns to Cybertron with the rest of the crew. 

The trip back is way less eventfull than the adventure itself, and everyoneis quite grateful for it. Problem is, it is kinda boring, and betweenrunning the lost light’s sophisticated gay bar Visages andsome other menial tasks Mirage has a lot of time to think about his future.

He is not gonna go back to being a Noble™. In part because he doesn’t thinknobles and noble society will be a Thing like they were in the past (at leastnot right after the war), but mostly because he doesn’t think he would be happyamong them anymore. He has just changed too much since the start of the war,and he knows he just wouldn’t be able to put himself thru the whole ordeal thatis being a Good Noble™

Related but unrelated to this: I’ve always thought of Mirage as someone whonever really fit in with the other Nobles (or the Autobors, but that’s anotherstory altogether) and wasn’t very happy among them, but What Else could he do.

So anyway. Being a noble is off the table, plus he would like to actuallydo something for others and society as a whole this time. But... what? Gonnakeep this short but basically he spends 90% of the trip back home just tryingto come up with an aswer.

And it’s not easy? like?? at all???? he’s been thinking for days, making alist of the things he Knows how to do or could learn quickly and how he coulduse them to help, but he doesn’t like any of the things he comes up with? Soafter the brainstorm comes the depression.

Luckily for him he’s now in good terms with a lot more people than he wasso when they (and by they I mean the Protectobots) notice that he’s going thrua rough patch they decide to help him out. It’s not easy but them being therefor him already helps quite a lot, and then one day by mere coincidence thesubject of therapy comes up.

And it’s like the sky has opened and Primus himself has pointed at Mirageand told him that That’s His Calling! That’s What He Should Do!

(Then comes another little period of desesperation cause ok. he knows whathe would like to do. but... how does he get there? what if he cant? and what ifit turns out to not really be his thing and what if what if what if!!! But hegets thru it)

They arrive at Cybertron and thank primus! there’s a new academy/universityin Iacon looking for students (and teachers) to try and reactivate the planet’sacademical and (part of) cultural spheres! So Mirage find little to noresistance to him enrolling as a psychology student and later focus most of hiswork and research on ptsd (I dont actually know anything about psychology soidk is thats? a thing they can do but shhh lets pretend)

(Actually getting his degree and license to practise is a long and hardproccess withs lots of ups and downs and there are so many moments where Miragejust wants to give up, but he persists and it pays off in the end and its sucha cathartic moment for him? I cant properly express myself rn but basically:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) (also he spends a whole day crying and his friends haveso much blackmail material? all in good humour tho but still.)

He starts working under one of his teachers and then moves to a littlemedical practice in Iacon which offers a lot of free treatments and services(First Aid also works here and? the other doctor the protectobots have? im surethere was one?? he’s here too). The pay is not amazing but it’s enough to liveso he really wont complian (and he wont say this outloud casuse he doesnt likebeing cheesy, but for him there’s no better payment that watch his patientsslowly get better)

It’s not all good tho. There are still ups and downs and he’s still dealingwith his own issues and if he has to be honest, the bad days may be less andless usual as time goes by, but the bad days he has are so bad he really feelslike giving up sometimes.

But as much as i love angst and drama i love happy endings more so he getsthru it! sometimes on his own sometimes relaying on others but he is so muchhealthier (mentally and physically than he was) and so much happier, he reallywouldn’t change his life for anything

- A harsh knock sounded on your door, surprising you out of the deep slumber you were in.

“Y/n! Wake up!” Jeongguk’ lovely shouting practically reverberated off of the bedroom walls.

You found yourself longing for Minah’s soothing voice as your morning alarm clock, rather than the prince’s loud guard. You groaned at the sound of your door opening.

“C'mon, Princess, rise and shine.” Jeongguk pulled open the heavy drapes that covered your window, resulting in the bright morning sun infiltrating your vision.

“It’s Saturday,” you argued, hugging your pillow to your chest as you sat on your sheets. “Wedding preparations don’t start for a whole week.”

“Jimin said you might like to try sword-fighting,” Jeongguk said nonchalantly.

This peaked your interest. You had owned a small dagger back at the inn, but fighting with the knife-like weapon was probably nothing compared to a real sword.

“It took me forever to convince Minah to let you come with me,” Jeongguk continued. “She said your hands would callous before the wedding, but I told her Jimin could care less about that.”

You couldn’t let the smile fade from your face. “I get to learn how to fight?”

That skill would be great to have when the entire kingdom was against you for aiding in the assassination of their monarchs.

“You should be able to protect yourself,” Jeongguk answered. “Minah is the greatest sword fighter I know, although she would never admit it. I’ll have her help you while I attend to the prince.”

“Wow,” you felt your adrenaline pumping as you thought of actually fighting. It was a thrilling to think of. “Do I get my own sword?”

Jeongguk hummed, “We’ll figure out which weight and model you want, and then we’ll talk to the smith.”

“En Garde!” You laughed, struggling to hold the double-handed sword Jeongguk had handed to you.

“Honestly,” Minah sighed. She grabbed a smaller sword off the shelf of the armory and handed it to you. “You’ll break your arm swinging a broadsword like that.”

“But she looks cool,” Jeongguk interjected with a smirk, his own broadsword swung over his shoulder.

Minah rolled her eyes at the younger boy, “Looking cool doesn’t help if you can’t defend yourself.”

Jeongguk rolled his eyes, “Are you going to teach her your father’s stupid defense before offense rule?”

“It’s better than your attack now think later rule,” Minah retorted, earning a smirk from Jeongguk.

As much as you loved watching the couple bicker, you were anxious to learn how to fight with the blade in your hands. “Can we get on with the lesson, already?”

Minah’s eyes averted from Jeongguk’s challenging gaze. “Right. First thing is first: have you had any previous experience with weapons?”

“Daggers,” you said. “I used it when people wouldn’t pay for their mead.”

The couple looked at you strangely. Your eyes widened and you held her hands out once you realized what they might’ve been thinking, “I didn’t kill them! I just threatened them, is all. It’s normal for innkeepers.”

“Maybe in Krull,” Jeongguk muttered under his breath. “Here, I’ll teach you the proper stance.”

He and Minah helped you plant you feet properly and hold the sword up so that a blow wouldn’t send you flying.

“Okay,” you said. “Now let’s do this.”

“Don’t be too eager,” Minah warned, although Jeongguk was egging on your excitement by feigning blows left and right. “We still have to go through the rules of defense. The most important of which is never harm an opponent unless you are out of every other option…”

You suppressed an annoyed sigh as she continued talking. Luckily, Jeongguk stood behind her, making faces at you, so it wasn’t too bad.

By the next Saturday, you were able to block Jeongguk’s harsh swings. He had praised you often by complimenting how much of a natural you were with the blade.

“It’s all angles and strategy,” you had told him.

“Tell that to the prince,” Jeongguk snorted as he blocked your overhead swing. You frowned at your somewhat sloppy movements and repositioned yourself.

“What?” You asked. Jeongguk swung a blow to your left side, and you impeded back, only barely dodging the steel blade. “Does Jimin not fight well?”

“He fights with his emotions,” Jeongguk answered simply. As he spoke, he swung his sword down in one swift motion.

Luckily, your reaction was quick and you were able to block it with your own weapon. Beads of sweat appeared on your brow as you struggled to keep his sword from literally slicing you in half.

“What’s going on out here?” You felt queasy at the sudden sound of an all-too-familiar voice. Your mind went back to thoughts of the day at the fountain and you faltered.

Jeongguk immediately stood up and turned, bowing ninety degrees. “Good day, Your Majesty.”

You felt yourself shrink back. In all your life living in Krull, you had met many men. You met scary men who wanted money and wanted it now. You met nasty men who wanted to pay with their body instead of their wallets. You met dangerous men who beat you when you didn’t meet the deadline they had set on their own accord.

But never in your life had you met someone as intimidating as King Park. His eyebrows were dark and always furrowed, lips pursed as if he had just smelt something horrible. His cheeks were always dark, but it seemed to be in anger rather than embarrassment.

The sword you had once held up proudly was now limp at your side. The king was glaring at you, and it finally occurred to you that you hadn’t bowed.

When you did, as gracefully as you could, the King scoffed. He walked up to you, his face dangerously close to yours as he spoke in a threatening tone, “Who told you that you could learn how to fight?”

You dared to stepped back, afraid. For some reason, your mind was telling you not to throw Jimin under the bus. You’ve faced scary men before, you told yourself, Just because this one had a crown on his head didn’t mean he was any different.

“I did. I wanted to learn so I made Jeongguk teach me,” you spoke boldly.

“Don’t lie to me,” the king hissed. “I know this was my son’s doing. That boy has been treading thin waters lately.”

The venom in his voice made you feel somewhat protective over the prince. Honestly, what had he done to make the king so angry at him all of the time.

“Jeongguk,” King Park barked, finally looking away from the future princess. “Bring Jimin to my study.”

Jeongguk looked like steel, his face set in a glare that would scare anyone. He didn’t like the king any more than you did, apparently. Still, he firmly nodded and walked back towards the castle in angry strides.

“If I see you so much as touch a weapon again,” King Park turned back to you threateningly, “I swear Jimin won’t have a wench to marry.”

You choked back your fear.

Minah eventually convinced you to take a bath and rest. “You’ll be preparing for the wedding starting tomorrow and there’s no need for you to be stressed.”

You sank under the warm water, ignoring Minah’s annoyed sigh and as you held your breath as long as you could.

Underwater, you felt cocooned and safe. You couldn’t shake the threat of the king out of your mind.

Had he meant it? Did he just have anger issues? Why didn’t he want you to learn how to fight?

You finally came up above the surface, gasping for air. You pushed your hair out of your face and sighed, looking over at Minah’s tired form. “Go rest, Minah.”

Realizing you had noticed her slouch, Minah straightened up and smiled brightly. “I don’t rest until you do, Your Highness.”

“Well then I order you to go rest,” you said, a smirk appearing on your lips.

“Will you be okay?” Minah asked. “I’m sure that his comment shook you up.”

“I’ve dealt with worse,” you assured her. It was very kind of Minah to serve you without complaint, but you didn’t really like the ranking system in the castle. It felt like no one could defy the king that everyone was obviously afraid of.

You felt nearly at ease, thinking of the moment the king would finally be killed and the land might be whole again.

Jimin walked into his father’s study, feeling scared. With the look of distaste on Jeongguk’s face and the simple he found out gaze he gave the prince, Jimin knew he was in for.

Jimin ducked his head as soon as he saw his father’s gaze. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have suggested it.”

His father slammed both his palms against the desk, causing Jimin to jump at the noise. “Did you think I would be okay with it? Did you think teaching her to fight would help anyone?”

Jimin opened his mouth to speak, his lips feeling dry, “I-I thought it would be good for her to protect herself if someone came for her…like they came for Mother.“

He felt a hand come down on his cheek, and his mind barely registered the physical pain compared to the quick and fearful beating of his heart against his chest.

”Don’t speak of her.“

Jimin nodded quickly. His tongue darted out to wet his lips, but quickly retreated when all Jimin could taste was the copper tinge of his own blood.

“Yes, Father,” he said softly.

He felt guilty and shameful. It was all his fault really. His father wouldn’t have to punish him if he would just obey and stop pushing the limits. If he would just listen and stop acting out.

Jimin could take the pain, really. He had been through a lot in his life. Pain was something he had become accustomed to since his mother died. At first, the young boy thought it was his father’s grief coming out in an extreme way. However, as he grew up, he realized that his dad had just been like that. He was just an angry man who had a lot of emotional mood swings. It was just Jimin’s luck to always be with his father when he had them.

Jimin’s gaze felt foggy as he left his father’s study. Shame found its way into his heart and settled there. He felt wrong, like he should’ve known better than to ask Jeongguk to teach you how to fight.

He just wanted to protect you, in case anything happened.

A horrible thought crossed the prince’s mind as he passed the corridor leading to your room. Had his father hurt you? We’re you okay?

He strode down the corridor before he could second guess himself. With a swift knock upon your door, he sighed in relief at your soft “Just a minute!”

When you opened the door, Jimin felt his face heat up. You were wearing a silk nightgown, with your hair was still wet from your bath, and the look seemed somewhat…appealing to the prince. Before he could embarrass himself by staring, Jimin smiled widely at you. “Hello.”

Your eyes trailed down the prince’s face, frowning as you looked at his lips. “Why are you bleeding?”

My father forgot to take his rings off. “I tripped and bit my lip when I fell.”

“Oh,” your voice was still quiet.

Jimin stuffed his hands into his pockets and exhaled, his eyes on the ground. “Listen, I hope my father didn’t scare you earlier. He’s a really good guy, just sometimes the stress of everything gets to be too much. I’m sorry if you were frightened.”

You shook your head, a soft smile painted across your lips, “I’ve dealt with worse. I’ll be okay.”

Jimin didn’t like your answer, but it was the only one he was given.

Jimin had never felt more boredom than he had sitting in his father’s council room, listening to a bunch of men fight about a wedding.

One of the young lords, a man named Alvin, addressed Jimin. “If it’s going to be a public wedding, we should invite the people of Krull to come watch. After all, it’s a ceremony to bring the two parts of the country together again.”

Jimin agreed wholeheartedly. He wanted nothing more than to show the people of Krull that he was willing to compromise with them. That he wanted to change the land he would rule for better, so that everyone would have a bed to sleep in and food to eat. Unfortunately, Jimin knew his father wouldn’t be fond of the idea. His father had always told him that it was good to keep Krull from the benefits Eden reaped. It told them who was in charge. Although, Jimin didn’t agree with this philosophy, he didn’t dare argue with his father.

The king had stated many times that a public wedding would only be held if the guests were of high ranking.

So, Jimin spoke against the lord reluctantly, “I don’t know if I like the idea.”

“Right,” another lord spoke up. “Krull is full of nothing but thieves and murderers.”

“I suppose you’re not calling your future queen a thief and a murderer?” Alvin shot back.

Jimin pinched the bridge of his nose. “I don’t think anyone is insinuating that my fiancé is a thief or a murderer.”

You locked yourself in your bedroom.

You were given one day to yourself before the wedding preparations officially started, and you chose to spend it in Krull. You were desperate to see Hoseok after so long, but even more desperate to get some rum from the inn. Three bottles should be enough to get the prince drunk.

He paused and looked across the street, where three children were lying on the ground to sleep. They stared at the carriage with fearful eyes, opposite of the amazement Jimin thought they would have for the carriage.

His heart felt cold and sick at the knowledge that they would spend the night outside. He wanted nothing more than to bring them with him, but he knew he would be reprimanded by his father so he held back.

You rescued him, however, for you stopped when you noticed what he had been looking at. “What’re you three doing our here? Hoseok always has a room open for you guys, don’t you know that?”

“You’re not there to protect us,” one of the children said, his bottom lip quivering. “The drunk man might kick us out again.”

“There’s no drunk men in the inn,” you assured them softly. “If you want, I can go in and make sure you are all tucked in safely, with the door locked so no one can get in.”

The children perked up at this and ran across the street, hugging your waist with their thin, little arms.

“Do you mind?” You asked the prince formally.

“Of course not,” Jimin answered, feeling relief flood his insides. “Take your time.”

Jeongguk tapped his foot on the ground. “Your Highness, your father wants you home in thirty minutes. We need to leave now or you’ll be punished.”

Jimin watched as you pulled the shivering children into the wamth of the inn. He couldn’t believe he had lived his entire life blinded when it came to Krull and their problems. How many children had died of starvation because of his ignorance? “Maybe this time, Jeongguk, I truly deserve it.”

vlad - he’s a very controlling and overbearing person, honestly. he’s the type of person who trusts his knowledge above everyone else’s and feels he’s the most capable in any given situation, therefore he feels it’s only right that he’s in charge, no matter the circumstance. he’s wise, yes, but after centuries of believing this of himself, his wisdom has warped to unabashed pride, and he finds it difficult to trust another’s capabilities over his own because of it. i like to think this ties into why he’s fairly codependent in his relationships; he needs to feel as though he’s the one providing for, guiding, and therefore “controlling” his relationships, he needs to feel needed, so he seeks out people who feed into that desire, people he feels are “misguided” who need a wise, proper hand to bring them to normalcy. you know, someone like him, the spitting image of normalcy, seeking out impressionable people in an attempt to satiate his intense desire to be needed. like sir have u ever heard of therapy? LMAOOO

breanna - she’s laidback to a fault and oftentimes irresponsible, someone who rarely considers the outcomes of her decisions and someone who ignores the telltale signs given to her. this manifests in a lot of careless, reckless behavior and poor decision making skills. like, for instance, if vlad reminds breanna that the water bill must be paid by x day? you best bet the water will be shut off because queen, irresponsible as she is, forgot to send the check. if she promises to bring you to your doctor’s appointment, you best bet that the morning of you’re gonna call her only to discover she didn’t realize your doctor’s appointment was Today and she is currently stoned asf and cannot operate her vehicle, to which you will reply Breanna It’s 8 AM Why Are You Smoking At 8 AM to which she will apologize and cry and hang up and fall asleep. much like vlad, i like to think this ties into her own codependency issues, as she feels she’s, in essence, unable to properly, or rather, responsibly care for herself, and must rely on someone else to do this for her. she enables his controlling nature by relying on him for most things, and in return he enables her immaturity by providing for her unconditionally. isn’t that, like, super fucked up lmaooooo? like, it’s the sims universe u know, so take all of this with a grain of salt, bc like in the context of my silly sims 4 legacy all of these codependency issues honestly amount to, like, breanna being a happy and uncritical stoner tradwife and vlad being the one who pays the bills and drives. it’s not actually that serious u know. but when you think about it critically and apply it to like real-world scenarios n consequences n whatever... it’s gross as fuck <3 you guys need therapy <3

lucien - like vlad, he’s fairly prideful, as he feels he’s the most knowledgeable and capable of any given situation, but more so than that, he feels the need to show off his intelligence by testing others’ knowledge. he also feels the need to lecture those he feels aren’t as knowledgeable as he is; often he doesn’t realize he’s doing it. he’ll basically mansplain to you for hours, if you don’t keep him in check. also, his ego usually gets the best of him, and he can’t help but find himself better than those he views as unintelligent. it can come off a little classist at times, and this is something which has been brought to his attention in the past, something he wishes to alleviate in his further interactions. it’s a work in progress. ;-;

gen - their main issue is that they’ve a difficult time understanding and empathizing with other people, primarily women. i like to think this comes from their overall discomfort within themselves, whether that discomfort revolves around their personality, their gender identity, or their apathy towards life. women in particular are difficult for gen to empathize with, as it is that gen makes an effort to distance themselves from women, most likely a consequence of their discomfort with their assigned gender. lashing out at the “thing” they wish to distance themselves from is a simple, quick way to tell your peers, I Am Not This Thing! you don’t wish to be perceived as a women? vehemently hate all of that which is considered womanly, and maybe you’ll stand a chance against your audience. that’s... gen’s way of looking at it, at least. it’s not healthy, and gen realizes this by now, but so far it’s not caused too much of a hindrance on their life, save for all the girlfriends they can’t get because of their shitty misogynistic streak, so they’re not too bothered. i can promise you as they grow more comfortable with themselves, they will eventually drop their mean streak. i know gen’s been a misogynist for, like, two years now lmaooo ;-;

carlile - much like his mother, he’s extremely irresponsible. he forgets important dates, he often misplaces his belongings and the belongings of others, he can hardly be trusted to cook without forgetting the stove’s on then burning the house to the ground. he’s also rather bratty, especially when he’s hungry. idk i’m blanking on carlile honestly his toxic trait is being perfect <3

nikolai - he has a hard time establishing boundaries with others, so he often finds himself in situations he finds uncomfortable, merely because he can’t say no to anything. you can usually tell when he’s uncomfortable, as he wears the expression well on his face, but even then, he’ll bite his tongue and carry onwards. worst of all, though, he’ll be upset with you if you’re the one who suggested the plans, even if he’s the one who agreed to the situation despite not wanting to attend in the first place.

klaus - he doesn’t expect anything from anybody, and he feels that all people should feel this way about each other, as no expectations means no one can get hurt. this also means, however, that klaus’ effort put into everything he does is fairly low, and he doesn’t often impress people with his lazy, myopic attitude. he’s self-dependent to a fault, wanting to do most things by himself without considering the help of others, as he feels he’s the only one who should provide for himself. basically, he doesn’t accept “charity” from other people, and he thinks most people shouldn’t accept “charity” from others, either. very much a “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” kind of guy, which i consider toxic as fuck, so, like. :)

anastasia - she’s a lot like vlad; she feels her judgment is the best in most situations, and she feels she deserves to be in charge at all opportunities because of this. her confidence teeters on pride, and she often confuses the two and unknowingly comes across as arrogant and abrasive because of this. she trusts the abilities of others, it’s just that she believes she works the hardest and wants it the most, and this innate desire puts her above others. she’s also prone to fits of jealousy, especially over her friends, an attribute also lovingly instilled into her by her father :p if you so much as look at her best friends the wrong way, she will come for your throat as though she were some rabid dog, about to feast on her next meal. she’s loyal, yes, but loyalty doesn’t come without its faults; she’s quick to excuse her friends, even for truly heinous actions they provably committed, so long as she feels the intention is forgivable. her love and affection for other people blinds her, and often she’ll act in their best interest, even if that means being rude or aggressive towards others who go against them.
