It’s really interesting watching reaction channels and checking out some comments on social media about something you’re really enjoying. I start to wonder if I’m watching the same thing lol

I’m not saying they’re wrong or I’m right. My interpretations are mine, but wanted to ramble a bit after The Eclipse Series episode 11 and decided here was as good a place as any lol. I really should find myself some friends that watch BLs too :)

1. They thought Aye saw his uncle jump from the cliff - I assumed it was just a nightmare/scenario Aye had created. He was always presented as present Aye with his hairstyle and the fact he was wearing the necklace, which he would have received after the fact.

2. Teacher Sani and the picture. How? - well she took over from Dika so I just assumed she found it amongst anything he left behind as seems she took over his desk. Looked like she took it from the pages of (what I can only guess was Dika’s) student welfare manual, and if he and Chaddok were strained he probably didn’t care what got left behind.

3. But Thua was bullied so he should know better - don’t get me wrong outing someone is bad and would never agree to his actions, but people saying he’s been bullied so why would he do it… pretty sure in part his bullying is because of the rules and ‘curse’ both of which Akk has been supporting until recently, so if I was Thua and saw Akk frolicking in a pool with his boyfriend while (at that scene’s point in time at least) Kan had spent years?? pushing him away and even though they’d got close again he was hiding behind Bruce Wayne, so yeah I’d probably not prioritise how Akk might get treated when revealing everything either. Again, I don’t agree with what he did, but he’s a 17/18 year old kid making a knee jerk reaction to the situation, provoked by Aye trying to shut him down and protect Akk.

4. Why did Thua choose now? - Akk just got the best boy award, Aye was clearly supporting him. Then outside, the protesters show up and suddenly Aye is calling out in their favour. I get why Thua did it and had had enough and spoke out. As I said before I don’t agree to everything (ie the outing) but get why he did it. He was calling out Aye, the fact his love (and likely unknown to Thua, Akk’s mental state) had meant Aye no longer tried to get Akk to tell the truth and instead was encouraging him during the ceremony. Aye had presented himself as someone who would expose the curse, had in some ways pushed Thua from his neutral place, the ‘curse’ might not have been active but it and the rules remained in the background. At that point, Kan still wanted them to be a secret, maybe Thua thought his step dad would have been less ‘rough’ if not for his experience of the curse, after the doll incident I felt like he was shaken because any faith he had had left in the system, the teachers enacting justice, protecting their students was extinguished. So Aye was in love, the protesters being manhandled, he probably saw himself as the only option for the truth to come out.

5. A missing scene? Was there a time jump? The group made up really fast - I agree to some extent about the fast turn around but I personally didn’t have an issue with it or get confused thinking I missed something. They did talk and get everything out in the open and from what we know from an earlier episode, or at least Akk, Wat and Kan, the group resolves conflict the same day, doesn’t let it fester. Thua said he’d accept whatever Kan felt he should do about him. Not going to lie, I wouldn’t have minded a ‘sorry’ in Thua’s explanation… ‘sorry I did it but I did what I believed was right’… after that Thua went home as his mum was waiting so I assumed it was the end of the school day. Skip to the next day, or maybe it was a couple, and the short film discussion. I went with the idea that this was Thua’s apology, he’d help them which would help in particular keep Kan (and Wat) being exposed as liars, and also help back track the outing of Akk and Aye (any investigation into Akk and the cause of the curse I presume will be revealed next week - this is solely about covering for Wat and Kan and making the film).

6. Kan and Thua being cute - now these two… personally, I don’t know if I could be as forgiving as Kan but a) he loves Thua, and has finally been able to be brave and say it - love is a crazy thing, b) if he can forgive Akk’s actions, he can forgive Thua’s, c) Thua is helping with the film and to cover for them so making amends that way, d) Kan’s part of a friends group that resolves conflict quickly, e) maybe he has his own guilt as he believed in the curse, and he had kept Thua at a distance for so long. Maybe he felt bad he didn’t notice what was going on with the curse or Thua. That last bit is just me maybe-ing but whatever the reason they stay together, move on, and he takes another brave step forward, and I’m happy for him.

Ahhh that’s better. Just wanted to ramble out what I’d been thinking. Nobody might ever see this but phew, feels good. (Watch next episode tell me everything at the end of this episode was a dream and everybody actually hates each other and everybody is crying buckets!!!)

People that went trough adhd or/and asd diagnosis, im currently going trought it but i keep detecting situations where the questions are targeting only stereotypical unmasked neurodiverse attitudes so i know that when i reply as i usually behave it might just not be so accurate.

The professional that's doing the diagnosis with me, sent me an adhd test that i should reply by myself, and this is happening in the questions the test presents, anyone who had to do one of these, which criteria did you take? like did you answer of how you usually behave even if you know that its learned behaviour to cope and carry on with responsabilities or social things that were supposed to be in a wat or did you answer with the reply that is more "raw" Both leave me very confused since, i know i have coping mechanisms but as well know that if i reply as if i dont have them feels like "im cheating" like YES! i do have that behaviour but i dont express it daily since i do x, y and z in order to not do it. Like, when they ask me if i often lose things yes, i usually did as a kid, now i have to CARRY A NOTEPAD WHERE I WRITE THINGS OR a bag where i put everything important so i dont loose my shit, or i have like coping mechanism so that doesnt happen so often BUT i know those behaviours are there and suppose and extra effort so i dont: loose things, forget dates, make a mistake at my job etc etc so do any neurodiverse people that went trough diagnosis out there has any type of advice for this? I know i currently dont actually know if i actually have adhd (tho i really feel like i might have it but i feel like diagnosing myself is not ok and therefore i want to do the correct process to get to know about it) but i often see that here in my country ( Argentina ) methods dont take into consideration the masking methods, the coping methods, or even the difference in diagnosis that may occur between men and women and how different people can express syntoms. So i want to know if this is a common experience, like i think most of the methods that i went trough during my diagnosis is focused on children (and i guess its more common to expect more unmasked behaviour on kids, BUT adults learnt how to mask this things, and maybe diagnosis may not be so clear if you dont take that into consideration?) ANYWAYS im still learning so anything you want to tell me i read you all. im just thinking abt how i pretty much grew up with the persona games (only 3-5, sorry 1+2) and like im just rllt sentimental idk

#i started p3 on an emulator in freshman highschool #that game pretty much reflected my life at the time like i was good at first but eventually my mental health took a dip #and i got suicidal a lot #which is like similar to the themes of death in p3 and how u cant run away from it but thats why u have to live at rhe fullest #which is wat i did. i was a kid and i wanted to experience everything especially love #then i played p5 in middle of highschool (couldnt play 4 as i didnt have a vita) #i was like at a low point ish cuz i was extremely lonely and i wanted a place to belong and highschool wasnt it #which is like pretty much all the phantom thieves #now im playing p4 during my early adulthood/college years #i havent dipped into it too much. im only at the prologue but i heard its abt facing the truth or smt #im guessing its gonna relate to how i have to face the truth of adulthood and learn how to grow from my flaws? #idk im excited though

Fun fact, I am incapable of holding back on reclists. In other words: brace yourself, anon. There’s a reason I put most of this behind a cut.

First off, these are almost all Zuko-centric, because I shamelessly play favorites. I’ll sort them by author rec, gen, shippy, and then by other characters because honestly the numbers break down well that way. Within those categories it’ll be more just as I think of it, so no special meaning to the order. I’m not always good about bookmarking even my faves, so some excellent stuff will no doubt be missing, especially since I haven’t read a lot of the more recent stuff yet/forgot some really old stuff, but this will definitely still give you plenty of fic to enjoy.

There’s a good number of FFN links on here so apologies to people who dislike it, but a lot of great stuff is still on there so give it a chance.

Everything by @awesomeavocadolove​​  Such hits as Another Brother (Zuko adopted by Hakoda pre-S1), and currently has a Zukka soulmate fic I’ve been meaning to start reading, as well as Unchained Melody, one of my favorite Zukka fics ever. Always quality, you can’t go wrong.

Everything by KimberlyT.  I do not kid. She’s written a variety of ATLA fic ranging from Zutara/other romance to gen, seriously emotional to cracky cabbagebending. I think my favorite is probably Mismatched (S1 Zuko adopts a baby) but honestly just go read it all.

Everything by @emletish-fish​​. She has a very fun writing style and honestly her end-of-chapter notes on why she’s made the choices she has are fun minimetas worthwhile in their own right. Some of her top fics are the Stalking Zuko series (S3 suspicious Katara to Zutara) and The Worst Prisoner (the Gaang kidnaps Zuko in S1 and can’t get rid of him). I think there’s still a good amount of her fic that can only be found on FFN so check there too.

Everything by @botherkupo​​. Especially her Undying Fire series (healer!Zuko) but also just literally everything she writes, it is all so great. Tends toward Zutara but strong gen fics as well sometimes and a lot of fun. Check it all out!

Everything by @muffinlance​​. Loves to toy with her readers’ emotions in the best of ways. Tons of fantastic gen Zuko-centric AUs, I have adored every single fic I’ve ever read by her, can’t praise them enough. Very productive as well, her tumblr is a hub for the ATLA renaissance and her fics inspire lots of others. Has also organized a fanmade ATLA coloring book for charity so get that once it’s out. In the meantime read everything she’s written.

Everything by Haicrescendo. My favorite is What We’re Given (the series where Zuko finds more air bisons and raises them), but there’s a lot of good Zukka fic too. I tend to steer away from explicit works in this fandom unless it’s a smaller part of a much longer plot-centric fic, so there are a number I haven’t read, but I really like the Pokemon!AU Zukka.

Everything by @gaycinema. I really love the EK fight club series (Zuko fights in Rumbles/etc.) but all of it is a good read. Some Jetko, mostly a lot of introspective or emotional oneshots. Which isn’t really a great depiction of how good they tend to be, you’ll just have to read them and find out. You won’t regret it, trust me.

Everything by @captainkirkk. So far eight stellar fics, starting with kind Fire Lord Zuko and ranging to Floating Tea Shop!Zuko who doesn’t want to hunt the Avatar. I love her style and have laughed out loud at multiple of these. 

Gen Zuko fic

Bringing Out the Blue by maguena1. [unfinished, long] Definitely worth the read. The first ATLA fic I ever got really sucked into. The Blue Spirit never gets knocked out so Aang doesn’t know his true identity; he joins the Gaang on a recurring basis, while Zuko attempts to tell himself this is only for information on how to catch them, they definitely aren’t his friends.

It’s Impossible by Sandra Phillips. [abandoned, long] One of the earliest Avatar!Zuko fics (sort of) and a really interesting take on some spirit stuff.

Embers by Vathara. [complete, long] A landmark fic in the fandom, and for good reason. I didn’t love everything about this fic, but it is very well-written and an absorbing read certainly worth the praise. 

the art of description by incandescens. [oneshot, short] Five descriptions of Zuko and Toph’s field trip from various perspectives. Short, sweet, and funny.

Breaking Point by Kryal. [oneshot, short] Zuko isn’t banished but instead sent to serve in the Home Guard. I love Zuko loving his people, and alternate canon explorations, and this is exactly that.

The Alternative by Lunatique. [oneshot, short] The reason Zuko is so determined is because he fears what will happen if he isn’t the next Fire Lord. An idea I support in canon, to a degree, written well.

Hands and Knees by gigerisgod. [oneshot, short] Zuko reflects on the choices he’s made, and experiences he’s had, when joining the Gaang. A nice introspective fic.

Relative Misery by peroxidepest17. [oneshot, short] Toph complains about her family and Zuko takes her on a field trip. Not a fic I take too seriously, but funny in a sad way.

Second Nature by lazyartisan. [possibly abandoned, long] An AU stemming from Zuko’s capture at the North Pole. Well-written and characterized, an old favorite that I actually find needing to reread to give you more detail, but I can promise it’s good.

Year One by peroxidepest17. [oneshot, short] Lessons Zuko learns in his first year being Fire Lord. I really like explorations of Zuko’s journey as Fire Lord and this is a lovely little window into that.

Soft by PenPistola. [oneshot, short] Zuko and Toph bonding after the Ember Island Players. Short and sweet.

The New Phoenix King by JoeMerl. [oneshot, short] Fire Lord Zuko is overthrown, and no one but him is bothered at all. In fact they help. Hilarious crack.

First Name Basis by JoeMerl. [oneshot, short] There’s some popular posts going around Tumblr lately about Zuko not knowing the Gaang’s names, but this fic did it first back in 2008. As amusing as you’d expect.

Male Bonding by glamaphonic. [oneshot, short] The original ‘Zuko and Sokka bond and are also dumb idiot boys’ fic. Katara is permanently rolling her eyes.

it’s not the waking, it’s the rising by isamagicdragon, thegracious [ongoing, series, medium] Azulon tells Ozai to kill Azula instead of Zuko, which leads to heartwrenching fire sibs adventure. I haven’t caught up on the last chapter yet but god is it fantastic and also just a really interesting and new perspective on what could have happened.

Doe-Eyed by Anonymous. [complete, medium] Zuko is a baby, Azula is a loving big sister. More fire sibs and a great exploration on Azula’s POV of turning against Ozai.

kintsugi by discordiansamba. [ongoing, series, long] Zuko doesn’t have Iroh after being banished, and winds up hired as a guard to protect the frail Beifong daughter. Fantastic preseries Zuko+Toph found family fic.

Legacies by WildInkling. [ongoing, medium] Far in the future, a historian studies the journal of Fire Lord Zuko. Also, he was secretly a famous author but no one knows. A funny and poignant outsider POV.

#UndercoverZuko series by naggeluide. [complete, series, short] A completely cracky concept written straight enough to be actually quite touching in parts, but also just really funny. Zuko goes Undercover Boss on his ship pre-series.

Avatar Ficlets by JaggedCliffs. [series, oneshots, short] An ongoing series of disconnected oneshots, mostly post-canon and mostly Zuko-centric. Some a pretty fun, one is a great view on Zuko and lightningbending, all worth the read (and follow for when more come out).

The Blind Leading the Blue by BrusselsSprout. [ongoing, medium] An epic Zuko and Toph field trip set in S2. I love them and this.

half in the shadows, half burned in flames by r_astra. [oneshot, short] Iroh dies, Zuko gets caught on the Day of Black Sun, everything ends up all right but damn does it hurt getting there.

A Tale of Earth and Fire by chiiyo86. [complete, medium] Zuko and Toph are married for Politics in a FN Wins AU, and follows them slowly bonding as friends to beginning a revolution. They’re married but it’s not romantic, just some good friendship.

Eight Principles of Yong by psocoptera. [oneshot, short] An exploration of immediate post-show FN politics (sort of), calligraphy, and Zuko. Also has some lovely non-fighting firebending; I always love when people explore other uses of bending.

Healing Properties of Cinder Sage by Dawen. [oneshot, short] Zuko gets very sick in the Western Air Temple. Some good interaction when he’s new to the Gaang, and Toph+Zuko friendship.

We Ourselves Must Walk The Path by WinterSky101. [complete, medium] The Gaang agrees to make Zuko their prisoner in the WAT. Speaking of new-to-the-Gaang, tension, this fic has plenty of it, and also features some good Toph and Zuko.

Frozen by Aris Merquoni. [oneshot, medium] Zuko is captured in the NWT. Some politics, lots of angst, and eventually, healing. Also actually makes me somewhat like Hahn? Incredibly enough.

Reluctant Hero by PAW_07. [ongoing, long] Avatar!Zuko fic. I got to beta it way back when for a little while before I got too busy, and have always been a huge fan of this fic. Great concept, one of the best executions of it I’ve seen, and also one of the first. Definitely read this.

Morality Chain by Pureauthor. [abandoned, long] Azula and Zuko were always on each other’s side; how this changes canon. I love this concept and would happily read a lot more fics with it (please guys, I need more fire sibs).

A viper-lizard’s tales series by Yumi_Take. [ongoing, long] The world needs more of Zuko adopting pets and small children, and those are just facts. This only has one of the two, but it’s a EK baby! Jet plays a big role in this fic as well, a weird kind of uncle-ish to the baby/friend/murderer Zuko needs to watch closely and hold back kind of thing.

(life happens) wherever you are by howlikeagod. [ongoing, long] Katara doesn’t find Zuko and Iroh in the teashop, and canon takes a sharp left turn. Excellent Gaang fic.

The Best Path series by EudociaCovert. [series, ongoing, long] Zuko meets Jet in ‘Zuko Alone’ and winds up getting claimed as theirs by the remaining Freedom Fighters. Really really well-written, I got quite emotional over some scenes.

Balm by Thyme In Her Eyes. [Maiko, oneshot, short] A sweet little fic about Mai’s thoughts on Zuko’s lightning scar.

The Black Games by Mrs. Pettyfer. [Zutara, complete, long] Hunger Games-esque AU. It’s the first in a series, and I lost interest after this one but I remember enjoying the fic and it was more personal preference rather than a drop in quality that had me leaving.

Lie To Me by Inkcharm. [Toko, oneshot, short] I’m not actually a fan of this pairing romatically (at least until years down the line), but this little fic of Toph and Zuko bonding through lying to one another is sweet. I choose to ignore the more shippy parts and enjoyed it.

Zutara? What the heck is that? by Ryxl. [Zutara, oneshot, short] Complete crack, have a good sense of humor and I think you will enjoy. Just the mental image of the Gaang finding a Zutara propaganda flyer had me chuckling.

The Three Chores series (1, 2, 3) by Fandomme. [Zutara, threeshot, short] Zuko and Katara slowly bond as he helps with chores. I will admit it’s been years and I barely remember this, but what I do recall is lovely and I always appreciate people lightening Katara’s load.

read the inscription by suzukiblu. [Zuko/Song, complete, series, medium] When Zuko is banished, he is left alone in the Earth Kingdom to fend for himself. Very touching, and I love Song in this.

Hooked by TGP. [Jetko, complete, long] A classic ‘Jet didn’t see Iroh warming his tea’ fic. They’re almost all this premise but so many well-written and very long ones. 

Something To Hold Onto by Wildgoosery. [Jetko, complete, long] The EK fell and Li stayed to fight with the Freedom Fighters to protect the city during its foreign rule. Jet didn’t see the tea fic that goes very AU from canon.

Foxfire by Rahar_Moonfire. [Jetko, ongoing, long] Zuko loses his memories Jetko fic, but with heavy spirit influence and lovable EK OCs, both of which I adore and should be in far more fics.

Once Upon A Teashop by anaer. [Zukka, Jetko, ongoing, long] Cracky Ba Sing Se AU that gets gradually more and more serious. Jet hits on Zuko a lot and Sokka gets a job in the teashop to keep an eye on both of them. Endgame Zukka but heavy Jetko, and both pairings are handled pretty well, not a love triangle that makes me too mad, although as always bear in mind Jet’s messed up. 

Names by TGP. [Jetko, complete, long] I feel like I’m forgetting some more excellent Amnesia!Zuko fics, but this is one I do know of. To be honest I don’t remember it super well because it may be mixed up with other Jetko/amnesia fics in my mind, but I think it was really good. I’ll have to reread myself.

Epistles by Lady_of_the_Flowers. [Zukka, ongoing, long] I love epistolary fic and I love Zuko and Sokka bonding earlier in canon. I will be honest I haven’t read this in a long time and been updating all the while, but the premise alone (Zuko and Sokka become messenger-hawk-pals in S1 and then fall in love) is fantastic. 

Ozymandias, King of Kings by Think_of_a_Wonderful_Thought. [Zukka, ongoing, long] Zuko rebels earlier and actually is sent to the mines, until he is ‘rescued’ by the Water Tribe. Dark but getting lighter over time, and more reluctant-to-rule Zuko which always wrenches my heartstrings. I prefer super loyal and dutiful to his people Zuko but this trope always makes me feel things.

Crossovers

Fallen Drops of Fire by Chasmfiend. [Fullmetal Alchemist, ongoing] Young Azula and Zuko somehow appear in Amestris, and encounter Roy Mustang. I adore the fire sibs, and their relationship in this strange situation is the star of this fic for me, but it’s also fun seeing the FMA perspective of these two.

The Dragon-King’s Temple by Kryal. [Stargate SG-1, long, complete] The best crossover fic out there. Zuko and Toph get stranded on the other side of a Stargate. I don’t know anything about SG-1 but it didn’t matter, the fic was fantastic, they were badasses, it explored language and culture from an outside perspective, and it was just a ton of fun. Must-read.

Other character fic

Loyalty by Julia451. [oneshot, short] The ship captain didn’t misspeak when he called Iroh and Zuko “prisoners” in the start of S2. A lovely look at a nameless character, giving depth to a small moment and humanity to a FN soldier which I always love.

The Only One by HarlowR. [oneshot, short] An excellent exploration of Azula’s mindset regarding Zuko, her desperate need to be loved and jealousy of him matching his own. I think Azula was one of the greatest tragedies of the show, and this fic makes me feel it.

Blood by theAsh0. [oneshot, short] Katara-centric thinkpiece on bloodbending and healing. Dark but really interesting.

Touch and Go by Cadence. [oneshot, short] After Iroh’s struck by lightning, Toph doesn’t let Zuko drive them all away. A momentary alliance and the seeds of friendship. More Toph-focused but still heavy on the whole Gaang.

Shortcomings by Menamebephil. [oneshot, short] Iroh thoughts during his imprisonment, on the theme of mistakes. I love this man and don’t understand why I am so drawn to fic about him that makes me sad.

Watch And Review, Please by Becca Stareyes. [oneshot, short] The Ember Island Players receive some constructive criticism... sort of. Funny and quick.

Azula Redemption Trilogy (1, 2, 3) by Mistress of Sarcasm. [threeshot, short] Second person and deeply introspective, three short little fics delving into Azula’s head and bringing her closer to redemption.

Echoing Refrains by catie_writes_things. [oneshot, short] I really like nuanced explorations of the whole FN royal family. It’s perfectly fine to write Ozai as pure evil bastard, but exploring  what might have been or how he got there, or even as in this fic his talent for music being inherited by Zuko is really interesting too. Iroh-centric.

our curse by ohmygodwhy, and the last dragon by thesometimeswarrior. [twoshot, complete, short] Stay away if you don’t like to cry. In the first Zuko learns Ozai is executing Iroh, and isn’t able to stop it; the second is even worse because it’s Iroh’s POV. I put this in the other characters section because honestly I adore the second fic even more than the first, but they are both fantastically written and will hurt you a very great deal.

Finally, I’m not quite bold enough to put my own fic on a reclist, but just shameless enough to mention I’ve written a few Avatar fics I quite like if anyone feels the desire to check them out on my AO3. ;) But seriously give love to all the rest of these, they deserve it. (And as I said, there’s lots more excellent stuff, this fandom is so prolific and well-written!)

Season 3, 1 - 3 in nutshell.

Titans Season 3, 1-3 review 

Boy, how have I waited for this show to return after a disaster of season 2 and decent and dark season 1. 

Not bad over all, fight scenes were good I wont call them OMG or Jaw dropping as it’s not there yet.  Damn it writers, stop with useless Bruce is a Psycho and he is Bad/Evil and, the actor who plays Bruce is a huge let down, though he was alright as a vulnerable Bruce but killing Joker that was way off. Writers really dont like Batman, eh 

Jason going after Joker is to prove himself? Hmm that's stupid but then again every one knows it and even Barbara said he is impulsive, everyone shunned him down, the Titans team in San Francisco and Bruce is too busy and appeared to be hung upon certain things which might have happened off screen, so kid had nothing really and wanted something to prove himself and be that “That’s Jason Todd”. They are creating Red Hood based on how writers had written Jason in the story not from COMICS. 

Why are ppl mad at Kory for saying she is “Angry at Jason” when he died, isn’t anger part of GRIEF? and also Hello she had a strong POINT and was encouraging the other Kids to learn from the MISTAKES, that’s how people grow isn’t it? Learning from mistakes, so wats with all the stupid fuss about her statement? Dick never said JASON CANNOT READ, listen to the dialogue, he implied Jason is not studious and never bothered to read INGREDIENTS of cereal, so experimenting drugs and creating them, isn’t Jason’s skills that’s all I got to say. 

So, the way they are portraying Jason and his revenge/anger towards Titan’s is like “YUP that is how Super Hero’s siblings throws Major tantrums and BS”, I need proper reasoning for his anger towards Titan’s. Dont give me the same crap from last season, it was a done deal. 

I am happy with ending of episode 3, the Hank ckt has to go along with Dove/Dawn, esp when Dove is the definition of Hypocrite in last season and she is same now too, biggest hypocrite on the show. Season 1, I was alright with them but they ruined season 2, with too much unnecessary drama. Hank’s kind heart was easily manipulated by Red hood 

Gar and Super boy, they have best understanding of each other despite being silly at times and they got each other’s back. Mama Kory did good with them. The kids also listened and cared for her, that’s how team works.... esp their bonding was nice, when she went and hugged her son Gar when Hank was blown up. 

Can’t wait for Donna and Rachel to return to Gotham. Interested about Kori’s blackouts and dont give me Justin crap, as I was like dude has been breaking ethical codes of being a Psychologist, he might have already lost his license to practice. Can I get normal scenes in the Wayne manor where people who live there knows what is happening with each other throughout a day. 

The episodes had some loop holes, I was ignoring but there is potential as it was better than previous seasons and can get much better. My major issue with writers “ stop making Bruce the punching bag, sure he manipulated kids into being super hero’s but kids had choice, so dont just blame him for EVERYTHING, even Barbara was like my father died caz of u, well her father was a commissioner and it’s his job to protect the city he loved and he did it willingly and worked with batman on his own accord, so stop with the F blame game.

I am horribly sick and just want to stab everyone that tries to make me use my incredibly sick throat. May I get a ramble on fangs and feathers? Or even Prompto-Cloud thingy bit thing. (Uuughgi. Sickness makes my memory WORSE. I can't remember its name and honestly F&F was a hit or a miss but it LOOKS RIGHT SO.)

I’m so sorry to hear that!! Ummm let’s go with the Prompto-Cloud thing (Clouds and Moonlit Skies verse btw). Actually *grins* let’s go with a nutty xover.

-Zack and Cloud are ten years old in this. They trip into another dimension and at first don’t realize it. They were busy exploring an old part of the Citadel, Seph is with them, having abandoned his paperwork on Zack’s puppy eyes and Cloud’s teasing. They have fun for a while, poking around dusty old rooms and discovering a new, spacious training ground to trash later.

-Then they get hungry and troop their way for the kitchens to grab a snack.

-They enter the populated part of the Citadel and come face to face with a Crownsguard.

-The Crownsguard isn’t human.

-Well, the upper half of him is, but his lower half is some kind of fluffy tabby house cat, like a centaur, but a cat.

-Both sides stare at each other in astonishment for several very long seconds before the guard shouts in shock and rears back, tail puffing out to stupidly huge proportions as he reaches for his com to ... alert someone.

-Seph acts on pure instinct, lunging for the guard and tackling him to the ground. He knocks the guard out, but not before getting a nasty claw-made gash on one arm and the guard screaming into his link something about “Drautos is here!” Which really shouldn’t be cause for alarm because he works here- except he doesn’t, because he’s half sitting on an unconscious, man-sized half HOUSE CAT person.

-A frantic game of keep-away-what-is-going-on starts up with Noctis, Prompto, and Titus all ducking into rooms and through camera blindspots to avoid the Crownsguard who are ALL centaur cat people (Zack: Cataurs? Cloud: Not the time Zack) eventually though, they get caught, because of course they do, the Citadel is different and the cameras are too many. They get cornered in a very large, grand hallway with lots of very potentially breakable art, surrounded by wild-eyed and tense Crownsguard who range from cat people to deer people to ... is that a ferret over there? Cloud is pretty sure that’s a ferret person.

-Also Cor Leonis is there, tail swishing madly as he clutches at his sword and eyes them, fur bristling slowly as their hunters all seem to finally realize that the “Drautos and unknown intruders” they’ve been chasing are NOT half animal of some kind.

-Zack is the one to break the silence by stage whispering to Cloud, “I thought he’d be a lion. You know, with the name and all.” Seph, uncaring of leaving himself open to attack, takes a moment to facepalm with a heavy sigh while someone in the Crownsguard gives a nervous, semi-hysterical laugh.

-Tension now thoroughly ruined, the three allow themselves to be herded by a stiff-legged, bristling Cor to the Throne Room where the Regis and Clarus of this dimension are. Zack smothers (badly) a giddy laugh at seeing his dad with lion hindquarters (so cliche! Lion King!) and ooing softly over Clarus’s tiger stripes.

-Seph notices something subtly relax in the king despite his bristling tail and the way everyone keeps staring at them like they’re cryptids. That is CONVENIENTLY when Gentiana shows up (as an actual centaur???) and explains that the three of them accidentally slipped through the boundaries between worlds from a nearby world, and that it should wear off within three days time.

-She disappears and the awkward conversations start. It quickly becomes apparent that the ... Taurs are a little bit in awe at the sight of their two-legged status (apparently, as the king explains, all taurs used to be humans but were turned into taurs at the FALL OF SOLHEIM. Cloud wonders if this was how Aerith felt when people gushed over her being an Ancient). It also becomes evident that none of them trust Seph. At all. They keep their eyes on him far more than Zack and Cloud (though Regis does stare at Zack a bit, no doubt it’s weird looking at his son with human legs). Cor looks two steps away from murder at all times while glaring at Seph even as Clarus and Regis argue over where to house them for the three days that will be secure and how to keep this from getting all over the media.

-Finally Cloud snaps at Cor that if he has a problem, come out and say it. Everyone stares at him in astonishment for reasons he can’t fathom (yet) and finally Clarus explains that the Titus Drautos in their universe was a traitor who tried to assassinate Regis and conquer Insomnia. Seph blinks very slowly at that because wat. Why would he work for the people who experimented on him AGAIN. Then he realizes that without his past life memories he probably would have been brainwashed into it yeah. “I can see that,” Seph muses aloud while Zack sputters and Cloud spaces out dangerously at the distance. At the sudden tensing he waves a hand and drawls, “Niflheim and I do not get along.” He pauses, then adds just in case it come up somehow, “I cannot speak for your Titus, but I was forcibly captured out of the Crownsguard, experimented upon, and implanted with an armor unit codenamed Glauca. It did nothing to endear them to me.”

-Zack flings his arms around Seph’s and yells loudly before anyone else can say a word, “He’s mine! You gotta problem with them then fight me!” Zack pauses then adds, “Actually, you gotta problem with him then I’ll sic Prom on you.”

-“I don’t think that’s a very intimidating threat unless you know our Prompto,” Seph points out dryly but Zack loudly shushes him.

-They end up in a guest suite meant for visiting royals, with a few Crownsguard outside to make sure they don’t leave and aren’t disturbed. Of course, because their luck is their luck, the rumors have spread far enough that Regis, Cor, and Clarus are unable to run damage control before the Chocobros of this world hear about it.

-A day into their stay, Regis reluctantly takes the children to visit with Clarus, Cor, and Aulea all as backup. They enter to find all the furniture pushed to the far sides of the room, Titus on one end of the room, all three having what appears to be a mini war complete with battle lines. All three pause in their war, Noctis-Zack calmly dangling from Titus’s fist by his ankle while Prompto-Cloud lies sprawled near the door, feet up by his own head, arms splayed like he’s just been kicked in mid-air and didn’t have time to land right.

-“Are we interrupting something?” Cor asks stiffly. Noctis-Zack just laughs and Cloud attracts more than a few stares as he flips himself upright in a smooth movement utterly impossible for a Taur. Seph casually drops Zack without warning and the boy easily twists to land on his feet. Regis ... reluctantly asks if they would mind meeting their child counterparts plus a few friends, which Zack is all for and the other two fold to his whim. So Regis reluctantly lets the children enter. Noctis thunders up to Zack with bright eyes and gapes at his two-legged status while Cloud finds himself suddenly face to face with 10,000 Rays of Sunshine wearing his face and wagging a tail like a mad thing. Gladio trots up to Noctis while Ignis just kinda watches from next to the adults as the Nocti exchange greetings and then Zack hastily goes to extract Cloud from Prompto, because Cloud looks two inches away from a panic attack and stabbing is not recommended right now (Cor sees the sheer difference between his son and this human version and something in him growls. Why is the human Prompto so quiet, so alert and wary, watching everything, even himself, like it might attack?)

-Prompto deflates a bit at his counterpart’s silence and wariness, not understanding why and Seph breaks the tension by humming, “You know, Zack,” (who is Zack? The Taur adults wonder until human Noctis perks up), “I find myself a bit surprised. I would have been certain that your counterpart wouldn’t be a lion.”

-“Why’s that?” Noctis asks with a head tilt.

-Seph smirks, cool and smug and positively catlike, “Because he’s nothing but a big Puppy.”

-“Oi!” Zack yells but he’s laughing, “I make a great lion!”

-Cloud’s lips twitch against his will and he adds, “Well, this is another dimension. Some differences in temperament are to be expected.”

-Zack puts his hands over his heart with a gasp, blue eyes big and watery, “Cloud- Cloudy- My Cloudy Prompto Cloudy Spiky Buddy! How could you betray me like this??”

-Cloud just raises an eyebrow very slowly.

-Their banter is interrupted by a laugh from Prompto, “You guys are weird,” he says with a tail wag.

-Zack grins back and despite having known his son as a lion cub all his life, Regis can almost see the matching wagging tail on the boy, “You don’t know the half of it! Wanna play something?”

-The kids end up playing a strange mix of tag and the floor is lava (which Ignis RULES at because Ibex and Cloud rules over right behind him because Stubborn Mountain Boi) while Seph watches with fond eyes and finds himself slowly dragged into a conversation with Aulea.

-Some questions are exchanged and answers given, Cor snarls under his breath at the news of Prompto being given up to a neglectful home until finally being adopted by Cor where he belonged, and Regis and Aulea clutch hands when Seph slowly admits that Zack (they’re going by Zack, Cloud, and Seph to differentiate counterparts, claiming it’s an “in joke” and “nicknames”) hasn’t noticed her because he doesn’t recognize her. Queen Aulea died when Zack was a year old.

-But it’s not all sad things with the adults, Seph tells them little anecdotes of his world, and Regis notes how much more ... mellow this Titus is. Cunning yes, and somewhat cold, but not pushy and angry. Much more patient, and there is clear devotion in his eyes as this Titus watches his Noctis and Prompto play.

-Cor ends up sparring with this Titus, because Seph isn’t going to turn down the chance to Throw Hands with a cheetah man anymore than Cor will a human.

-It’s a tie that ends with both of them wheezing and tired on the floor.

-Cloud ends up falling asleep at one point and Prompto flops down next to him and soon they are both out and cuddling. All the Pictures are taken.

-Regis and Aulea are bemused and horrified by just how much of an Energizer Bunny Zack is. Like- HOW. Where do you store it all child and they thought Prompto was bad in his puppy stage.

-The three days end and the three disappear as swiftly as they came, and Zack is gleeful to have all the photo evidence Seph thoughtfully took to prove that YES they went to a world with Taur people and LOOK DAD YOU MAKE AN AWESOME LION. SO DOES MOM. SO DO I. AND HAH IGGY IS A GOAT (Ibex, Cloud corrects with a sigh and is ignored by Zack).

The Last Unicorn: Unhappy Fantasy

Everybody loves a happy ending. We all love the idea that, no matter what bad things come about, everything will turn out all right when it's all over. That good will triumph over evil, true love will win out and that everything that could go right will go right. But as you get older, you come to realise that this won't always be the case. Bad things will happen, and they will happen to good people at that. But you don't always need to be an adult to come to realise that, as children too can grasp this concept. Media aimed at them will usually try to go for the more upbeat of tones and stories, but every once in a while you'll get a story that just won't want to sugarcoat things. A story that will look at its young target audience and let them know that we won't always get wat we want. For me, the first film to truly do this, to make me realise that not every ending would be a happy one, was the 1982 Rankin/Bass film, The Last Unicorn, an adaptation of the book by the same name by Peter S. Beagle. This movie was unlike anything else I'd seen up to that point, and as I'll say here, it's also unlike most of what I saw afterwards too.

Our story, which I first encountered via an old VHS lent to me by a family friend way back in the early 90s, stars a nameless unicorn who, after an encounter with some humans, begins to feel that she might be the only one of her kind left in all the world. Worried, she sets out from her forest in search of others like her, and along the way she comes across a number of dangers, including witches and bandits, all while picking up a couple of human allies, Schmendrick the magician and Molly Grue. Together they journey to the castle of King Haggard, the man responsible for taking unicorns from the world through the power of his beast, the red bull. But this endeavour takes its toll on the unicorn, as magic forces her into the form of a human girl before her arrival into the castle, which eventually leads to her falling in love with the King's son, Lir. After much time searching, the group once more face off against the red bull, and after resuming her unicorn form, our heroine fights it off, releasing all other unicorns from their imprisonment in the sea. The evil King is vanquished, unicorns have returned, and the party go their separate ways, with their journey now complete.

Now, to this day, I can't recall another animated film meant for children that has this kind of feel to it as I watch it, and bear in mind that I've known it for the better part of thirty years now. It's a kind of melancholy that just sits there in every moment. This is a fantasy world, yes, but it's also a fantasy world where a lot of the wonder and majesty that you might find has come and gone. A world where all the truly great things have faded. The unicorn we see is truly the last of her kind in the world, to the point where even two random human can recognise it. The fantastical creatures locked up in the cages of the witch? Unreal illusions hoaxed by her to fool gullible carnival-goers. The land King Haggard rules over is barren and dead, a far cry from the lush place it supposedly used to be before his rule. Even characters like Molly are those who feel like their best days are behind them, to the point where she feels initially quite bitter to see the unicorn at this point of her life, rather than as the young maiden she used to be. This whole world just feel worn down, past its prime, which was really quite something for someone as young as I was when I first saw it.

And it's not just the overall world that has this feel to it. Characters both ordinary and fantastic just struggle with feeling happy a lot of the time, or even optimistic. Schemndrick is constantly frustrated over his lack of magical talent, Molly, as I said, has grown up disillusioned with the supposedly romantic life of an outlaw's wife, and as for the Unicorn herself, she undergoes more than a few bad times. The transformation into a human girl utterly horrifies her, and it's something which puts her in a truly unenviable situation during the final act. A choice between her original life and her newfound love for Lir is put before her, and in the end it's not even her that makes the choice. She returns to being a unicorn and, as a result, can no longer be with the Prince she's come to care for. When the movie is on its last moments, she laments what has happened, that she regrets returning back to her original form as she will no longer experience love, which is something unicorns apparently can't feel naturally. She's given a happiness and it's taken away from her, and while she's grateful that her kind are back in the world again, this is a sting that's going to stay with her all the same.

And you know, there's one line in this movie that perfectly sums up exactly why it feels the way that it does. It happens towards the end, and Molly wonders if their journey is going to have a happy ending. Schmendrick responds by saying "there ARE no happy endings, because nothing ever ends". This, I think, is a perfect example of just what kind of mindset this story has. It's not trying to be some classic fairy tale of good triumphing over evil with its heroes riding off into the sunset. Good may score a victory over a terrible person and his beast, and yes a force for good is returned to the world, but it comes at a loss. When Schmendrick says this, you feel as though this really isn't the end, that this is just one moment of the much wider story. Good wins today, but tomorrow there might be something else, something where the other side is victorious. When Lir rides off, he'll likely go and do other things, have other adventures of which this was only one, so too will Molly and Schmendrick. It's fascinating to me that one line, only a few seconds long, can conjure up all these worries about what might happen after the curtain falls on our cast, but there it is.

Now I realise that this must make the movie sound incredibly pessimistic, and yeah, it's hard not to come away with that feeling when you finish watching it. This isn't a "happily ever after" kind of story, despite the fact that the goal of the quest was fulfilled. The dour tone of the story is so prevalent that, even as you see a whole herd of unicorn riding free, there's this feeling that something was lost along the way to making it happen. But, despite the story's clear stance of criticising or undermining certain classic ideas of fairy tales and other fantasy tropes, there's nevertheless a spark of hopefulness in here. Despite the hardships, the unicorn triumphs, restoring her kind to the world, even if it cost her something personal. Schmendrick, having gone through his own difficulties, emerges at the end as a fully-fledged wizard. Molly gets to presumably spend her remaining days with someone who treats her well, in stark contrast to the life she had prior to meeting the unicorn. Success arrives to all our main characters, so the film clearly thinks that good things can happen to good people in spite of the glass-half-empty tone it appeared to have, even if those characters had to be put through the wringer to get there.

The Last Unicorn, it must be said, is not a movie to watch if what you're looking for is an unambiguous good time. The mood is sombre, the designs are not exactly appealing with the obvious exception of the title character, and if you're like me you'll likely find yourself finishing this movie with a big scream at the screen saying something like "WHY CAN'T THE UNIVERSE LET THIS UNICORN BE HAPPY FOR FIVE MINUTES?!?!?!" But let it never be said that the film is ineffective at making you feel exactly what it wants you to feel. It set out to create a bittersweet children's fantasy story, and by God it made one. Maybe it was because I first saw it at a young and impressionable age, but subsequent viewings through my life nevertheless made me feel exactly as I did that first time, that I'd just watched something unique and memorable. It's hard to say whether this film deserves to be on any lists of the greatest animated movies of all time, but there's no denying that it did things kids' movies just don't normally try to do, and certainly not back then. It's a sad movie a lot of the time, but if the likes of Inside Out taught us anything, it's that it's okay to be sad every once in a while 😉

He was undoubtedly still in pain but just being wrapped in Sarawat’s embrace was enough to turn it into something more manageable and dull. “Tine?” This time Sarawat’s voice was low—or perhaps it was at this volume earlier and Tine was just too over sensitive.

As soon as Tine crossed the threshold to his apartment his eyes surveyed the room in search of his boyfriend. Where was he? Tine knew that if anyone else spent nearly the last twelve hours nose deep into a law textbook they would grab a bite to eat or take a shower—both he desperately needed—but something else outweighed that. He wanted Sarawat. He could have swore that the other said they were going to be home early after his band practice but he was nowhere to be found. Not in the living, kitchen, or bathroom.

Perhaps Tine was too sleep addled and exhausted to figure out that the one place he hadn't looked Sarawat would be there. It took a lot of effort to climb the little stairs that led to their bedroom but once he made it to the top he couldn't help the soft look that overtook his features. There he was, looking so breathtakingly adorable in a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie. Finals were quickly approaching so Tine was not surprised that he had a textbook in his laps with his glasses perched on the bridge of his nose. He looked so dorky like that with his nose all scrunched up in concentration. He desperately wanted to curl up against Sarawat but it was rare that he got to see him like this. He would eventually make it over to the bed but for now he would just prop his head on his hand against the banister. He was unsure he stood like that—he lost all sense of time after he drank his eighth cup of coffee—but eventually Sarawat noticed he was not alone.

"Keep on looking at me like that," Sarawat didn't bother to look up from his textbook, "and I'll kiss you until you drop."  

Asshole Tine thought to himself and told Sarawat just as much. "How long have I been standing here?"

Sarawat glanced up with a frown on his face. His eyebrows were knitted together in worry. "For like five minutes. When was the last time you ate?"

Tine opened his mouth to reply but Sarawat held up a hand to silence him. "Actual food, Tine. Not just a bag of chips or a granola bar." Shit. How did he know that? Did Tine really look that bad or did Sarawat simply know him that well?

He didn't bother to answer at first and instead worked on changing his clothes. After slipping out of his jeans into a pair of sweatpants he threw himself down face first onto the bed. "What time is it?"

"11pm." He was really gone that long? Tine tried to remember the last time he had proper food—did he eat the dinner Fong brought to their study session? No he was too preoccupied trying to finish the last of his case briefs that he never got around to doing so. What about the breakfast Sarawat handed to him before he left this morning? Not that either, he was too wrapped up in an argument with Ohm over what consists of medical child abuse—not giving consent for a medical procedure is considered neglect if the outcomes outweigh the risk—that he never even opened the bag.

“Last night.” He knew that Sarawat wouldn’t like that answer.

“Tine!” Sarawat’s voice was booming and Tine couldn’t help but groan into the mattress. “Stop yelling. I know what you’re going to say. But you don’t understand how important this exam is.”

Before Tine could process what was happening he was being flipped onto his back. When Sarawat lifted his head up Tine had to bite his lip to keep in a whine. Pain. He was in so much pain. He was expecting the other to force him into a sitting position but all he did was shift so that Sarawat could push Tine’s head onto his lap. The next thing he knew Sarawat had his hands buried in his hair, gently massaging his scalp. “Where does it hurt?”

Tine couldn’t help the bitter laugh that escaped him. “Tell that to my professors. This exam is worth nearly 60% of our grades. If I don’t get at least a B then I will fail this class which, by the way, I can’t do. It’s required to graduate.”

Sarawat stopped his movements and this time Tine really did let out a whine. “Wat!”

He heard Sarawat sigh before a pair of hands were once again threaded in his hair. Silence engulfed the room and just as Tine was about to doze off he heard a voice. “You need to eat, Tine. Medicine too. Let me up so I can go get it for you.”

Food and medicine sounded like a brilliant idea but Sarawat’s hands in his hair sounded even better. He could feel Sarawat start to scoot out from under him but Tine was not having it. He knew that he was being unnecessarily clingy and that Sarawat had work to do too but he was just so desperate for this. He was desperate to be touched by his boyfriend—in the most innocent of ways—so all logical was thrown out the door.

Before Sarawat could successfully get away, Tine wrapped his arms around his waist and shook his head. If Tine was less exhausted he would have been embarrassed about the fact that he was practically shoving his face into the others lap. Whatever. Screw his pride.

“Five minutes. Please. That’s all I ask for.” It was a struggle to get those words out but thankfully Sarawat didn’t ask any more questions. All he did was let out another sigh before pulling the boy closer, using one hand to massage Tine’s scalp while the other reached down in search of a hand to hold. Once Sarawat found it he intertwined them together before bringing them to his lips for a kiss. Pure bliss. Soon enough Tine was lulled to sleep and despite everything it was somehow one of the best nights of sleep he ever got.

Tine slept for nearly ten hours straight—ten glorious hours—only to realize that they were still in the same position from last night. “Wat?” Tine’s voice was hoarse from both misuse and dryness. “Did you…” He trailed off but Sarawat understood what he was trying to say. Did Sarawat really sit up like that all night?

“No. Well, I did for a few hours until my back started to ache. I went out to get you breakfast and was just trying to wake you up to eat it.”

Oh. Somehow that made Tine’s heart swell even more than it would have if Sarawat stayed in that position all night. “I love you.” Tine was all he breathed in reply. So damn much.

This was not the last time Sarawat had to remind Tine to take a step back during finals. It was just another way to show Tine how much he loved him—and when Sarawat started to skip out on basic necessities after trying to meet a particular rough deadline Tine did the same for him.

You knew from experience that Bucky was someone that shut off everything else when he was in “serious work mode”, you had seen it more than a couple of time since you had started dating and it had been a point of conflict here and there. It was just that way he worked, but he also ran himself to a thin thread, which leads to getting sick during his work or after everything was said and done with. However, this time you knew he was struggling more than usual what with the work from school and now it piled on even more since he had been hired as a consultant due to Dr. Banner’s good work to a certain former CEO.  You knock on the door, one and another two times, but never get a response. You ready to knock it down when some crashing can heard from the inside and a disheveled looking Bucky finally opens the door.

“Doll, what–” he stops talking as you frown and enter the apartment, which looks like a pigsty. James isn’t doing any better wearing a dirty looking t-shirt, gray sweatpants, a case of bad bed hair, and glasses tipped to the right side of his face.

“James, get changed. We’re going to Central Park,” you state, putting your foot down with a thump, though trying to make sure you don’t hit anything strange on the unclean floor.

“I can’t. The–” he starts, but you stop him, already knowing what his excuse would be.

duri answers a series of questions about variety show, little forest.

why did you decide to join the cast of this show?

“in some way, i thought that little forest would be a bit of a challenge. i always thought i’m rather good at taking care of kids because i’ve taken care of my cousin’s kids rather often and interacted with them. but, it’s never been at a scale like this, especially in nature. i honest really liked the concept when i heard it, about it being something that’s really healing and acting as a nature and garden development for kids. i hope that the cast and i really showed that in the show!” 

what were you looking forward to about being a part of the cast of the show?

“i think i was just really looking forward to working with the kids the most! it’s something that i really enjoy and if i wasn’t an idol, i was going to become a kindergarten teacher! i also really want to become a father later in life, so i was really looking forward to the learning experience of working with kids and taking care of them. i really had a lot of fun on the show!”

is there anything you hoped to get to do on the show?

“i was really hoping to be able to use handy skills and the woodworking skills that i have obtained to make things while on the show, since that seemed to be an aspect that was going to be needed to make things better for the kids that were taking part in the nature development experience! i did, ultimately, end up being able to use those skills, but you’re going to have to tune in to figure out what i did!”

did you have any worries about the show?

“i think i mainly worried that i was going to do well enough? i wasn’t entirely sure why, but i was worried that i was going to somehow let the kids down. but, i didn’t! i think it was just one of those silly worries that we all tend to have, right? but, i worked through it and i think i did really well! other than that, i had no other worries!”

what do you bring to the cast of the show?

“i think i brought the energy of a puppy for the kids!” he laughed. “i think i also brought... a bit of a younger perspective to the cast as well? my cast members are all older than myself, so i think i brought a different dynamic with being younger! i think i also brought different skills as well because i was able to really help out with a lot of the daily tasks like cooking and cleaning because i do things like that so often!” 

did you do anything special to prepare for this show? 

“i did! when i was casted for little forest and in preparation, i studied to gain a child psychology certificate to gain a better understanding of how a child’s mind works, as well as how i’d be able to better take care of them in that sense through the show. i wanted to better understand them socially as well, so we’d be able to better communicate together. i think having this certificate has really helped me a lot throughout filming. so i became a certified child psychology counselor for this show!  i learned to woodwork as well, just so i can help better facilities!” 

little forest is broadcasting following the finish of your last variety show, sea of hope, what was it like filming little forest compared to sea of hope?

“little forest is definitely a lot more challenging than the previous, sea of hope, was. there’s was a lot more to worry about in little forest because i was taking care of young children, as well as making sure to create a fun, safe environment for everyone! i had a lot more responsibilities here than the former, but that’s okay because i really learned a lot during little forest! i knew, going in, this would be really challenging, which is one of the reasons why i chose to be casted on the show, so i’m really glad i got to experience everything i did while filming little forest! also, both variety shows are very healing, but i think they’re healing in their own ways? nonetheless, i hope people feel a lot of comfort and healing energy while watching little forest.”

what’s one thing you want people to take away from little forest?

“i think, most importantly, is knowing that kids are their own people too! they also deal with things in their own different ways and no kid is the same? they have a lot of emotions to deal with that we don’t really realize and they don’t really know how to portray it? so, often times, they’ll tend to cry, like when they miss their parents, or they waited patiently for something and everyone else kept getting their turn. i think it’s really important to learn how to help with those emotions and to go about it in a gentler manner. i think we can also learn something from the way kids deal with their emotions and i think it’s a reminder that it’s really okay to cry when you need to get it out. i hope people can also learn to be there for each other like the cast was for the kids and the kids were for each other.”

The one with crocodile meat and deep-fried tarantula

I’ve always wanted to travel alone for my birthday and I decided to make that happen when I turned 25. I chose to visit Thailand and Cambodia since both are extremely exotic, diverse, and have some delicacies that I’m super excited to try. Besides, an exotic guy needs exotic destinations. *wink wink

 Chatuchak Night Market

The plan in Thailand is to explore nothing but food. I asked the hostel receptionist about their famous night markets and she directed me to go to Chatuchak weekend market. I had a yummy bowl of Tom Yum Goong, followed by mango salad, sea foods, bugs, and scorpion skewer (I’m not kidding). I didn’t normally eat that much to the point I was bloated, but you gotta do it when you’re in Bangkok, right?  

The next day, I went to the Train Night Market and made friends with a German girl who thought I was a local. We both then explored the market, bought some stuff, and tried some crocodile meat. It tasted like pork but just more chewy. We ended up eating sea foods - like the one in Chatuchak was not enough - and mango sticky rice while trying to understand Thai songs they played out loud on broken speakers.

Scorpions at Train Night Market

I managed to see some old friends in Bangkok and they took me to Ayutthaya, a historical city located north of Bangkok. Ayutthaya is such a bae and everything about it very much feeds my old soul. This archaeological gem features ruins from the Siamese kingdoms and its cultural value attracts travelers to do a day trip from Bangkok. We visited some temples and I personally was blown away with the beautiful ruins and the rich history behind them. The most popular attractions include Wat Phra Mahathat, a large stone Buddha head set in a colossal and deep-rooted tree. We finished the trip with another Thai food galore in a restaurant overlooking Ayutthaya river.

Before flying to Cambodia, I managed to explore the city a bit more. I went to Wat Arun and The Grand Palace only to find that those places were swamped by tourists. You know that “A huge wave of zombies is approaching” phrase from Plants vs Zombies game? That’s exactly how I felt about the whole situation. I just didn’t feel like getting squeezed by the crowd so I decided to just walk around and ended up at a cute coffee shop. 

CAMBODIA

I landed in Siem Reap in the middle of the day and my friend, Syiqin, picked me up with our personal tuk tuk driver. We stayed at this up-and-coming hostel which was only 5 minutes walk from the lively Pub Street.

Pub street is where all the fun at. From cheap Cambodian snack stalls and fancy restaurants to clubs blasting reggaeton and local selling extraordinary Khmer delicacies. Few minutes walk from the street was this little restaurant called Bug Cafe where you could taste various cooked bugs, including tarantula - next level exotic. Though you can find these roadside on carts and at street food markets, for something this unappetizing, I opted to visit a proper restaurant to try it.  

Pub Street

I ordered their small platter which consisted of bugs salad, bugs skewers, fried tarantula, fried silkworms, and ant spring rolls. The spring rolls barely tasted like ants, the skewers were just alright and tasted like, well, bugs, as well as the salad. The silk worms were disgusting, but the tarantula indeed tasted slightly better than the others. It was probably the dough because the tarantula itself tasted rather bland. A few people had mentioned that it really looked and tasted remarkably like soft shell crab. When you tear off a leg you’ll notice a flaky whitish meat inside which is very similar to crab but the taste is nothing like it, at least for me.

I didn’t finish all of them but it was indeed a once in a lifetime experience. Did I regret spending 15 bucks for a small platter of bugs? Nope! I didn’t plan to do it again anyway, so it was totally worth it.

We explored Angkor Wat the next day and managed to catch the sunrise. We had to leave at 4 in the morning and queue for the ticket, at goddamn 4 in the morning! As if I didn’t stress that enough, they had to take our pictures for the ticket. 

Angkor Wat is massive and we’re told to spend 3 days to actually explore the whole area at a reasonable pace. Since we didn’t have much time, and were also on a budget, we squeezed the 3 days adventure to just a day, needless to say, we couldn’t really feel our legs after hours of walking and hiking under the intense heat and dry air of Cambodia.

Sunrise at Angkor Wat

I’ve got a pleasant surprise when we’re just walking around the Bayon temple. I bumped into this guy that I met in Colombia back in 2016 when both of us were participants for a Spanish Course. We didn’t really talk to each other during the program but we just kinda knew each other. It took me a while to recognize him and he was as well giving me “man, I know you but who are you” kinda look. We both later greeted each other and talked for a moment. 

The last temple we visited was Ta Prohm, which was featured in Tomb Raider. I took a decent picture with the trees that overgrown and covered the temple. I didn’t stay long because it was packed with lots of tourists and I was just too tired with all the hikes. We went back to our hotel and took a well deserved nap and later went to Pub street for dinner and shopping. 

My heart was full when I left Cambodia. Though I live in a country that has Borobudur, I really don’t think that there is another country in the world with the ancient temples as amazing as Angkor Wat. Plus, I found the people here are extremely nice and genuine. It’s not as cheap as I thought probably because of the imposition of the dollar, but still affordable and I definitely recommend you to visit the beautiful country. I mean, Angelina Jolie comes here often and even Beyonce, so what else can I say?

Digimon Stage Play - Part One

Sorry, my friend introduced me to Tiger and Bunny, which is why this was delayed ;;; This is everything up until curtain for half time, rest will be up within the next 12 hours, sorry!!! Aight, so tl;dr: great show, actors are perfect, Yamato is beautiful beyond belief, Mimi is UGHHHHHH in the good way and I’m bitter that the whole show isn’t sold out and whoever was in charge of promotion should be forced to eat nothing but the hottest of hot chillies for the rest of their life.

Venue/Goods: a little out of the way, small. You couldn’t buy goods unless you had a ticket, which sucks. Goods were sold on the inside, line was small pre-play, massive after. My store clerk couldn’t count to save her life. People were trading, everybody hated that everything was random and there were so many types of things. Friend and I ordered dvd – no blu ray option, it’s being released in December. Had to downpay 2000 yen, which this and dvd only option has never happened before when I’ve seen other stage shows – not a good sign. No postal option, so my friend has to pick mine up for me – poor form again. (Pick up is only at animate – my nearest one is 2+ hours away :/)

Promotion/sold out: four shows sold out. Tickets reduced to 7000 yen, which is insulting for us who went through lottery. They advertised low prices at fes too. Promotion was done badly. Digimon isn’t massively popular, but Toei isn’t small either. Get a cast twitter, post rehearsal pics etc. Promotion doesn’t need to be costly. Fes advertisement (last weeks vid) was too little too late. Theres events with Miyazaki and AiM and seiyuus, which also seems last minute and an attempt to sell out. Again insulting to those of us to preordered. Shonichi didn’t sell out. Must be tough on actors. Promotion video (August 5th? 6th?) is kinda bad quality – the stage itself looks and sounds better than the video may lead you to believe.

Seating: nice, comfy. We were second row, left hand side, aisle. If we had been one or two more to the left it would have been really bad (same if you’re too overly right). The cast faces back/sideways too often, so we saw a lot of backs. Need to work on being diagonal, basic stage stuff there. However, pros of our seating were: Yamato being right in front of us when he sang, Jyou fishing in front of us and making eye contact with Etemon to the point where it was creepy lmao

Play Y’all. Y’ALL. THIS IS THE GOOD SHIT. A+ A+ A+ A+!!!!!! Agumon is twitchy in the start, scene is a little long. He’s basically like ‘my body can’t move/is moving on it’s own???? Wat? Why???’ (both happen, not a bad translation on my part). He wakes up and Gabumon’s like ‘yeah me too’ and some of the other Digimon agree but Palmon’s like ‘yeah same but it’s because I’m not a morning person lmao’.

They all go to where the kids are. So this is set sometime after Koushirou makes the cyber space for them. Mimi and Koushirou talk about camping and Mimi ends up throwing his laptop on the FLOOR. Koushirou looks heartbroken and the entire audience was ?!?!? but sasuga Mimi and Koushirou’s like … well, moving on. Mimi is perfect beyond belief. Right voice, face, mannerisms. I know that’s what acting is, but she NAILED IT. She’s all like ‘camping is about feeling the breeze~’ then acts like she has wind her face, ‘about being hot’ (ahhhh, it’s hoooooot, she says), about monsters! (she says as she stalks towards the Digimon). We then get the scene where Sora talks about the importance of August 1st. While she speaks, on the left and right sides we see actual scenes from the original anime, which is really touching. Sora mentions that although there were good times, there were bad ones too (CUE GIF OF LEOMON DYING BECAUSE THEY HAD TO HAVE IT SOMEWHERE) All the mons wanna go camping which obviously, is cool.

Hikari invites Taichi and they talk. Jyou calls Hikari but Taichi answers and Jyou doesn’t realise. ‘Damn that Taichi, he isn’t coming? Leave it to me!’ Eventually Taichi is like ‘it me moron’ and Jyou convinces him to come after Taichi’s like ‘I BET UR NOT COMING’ because Jyou, as always, has exams. Jyou is a smart ass? He’s like ‘Taichi, next year, you’ll be in my position. And if it’s you… well… you’ll be in trouble.’ SUCH A GOOD SCENE JYOU IS MVP IN THIS PLAY Y’ALL. He gets his creep on here and it’s so funny.

Next is Knife of Day. Yamato sung and you could tell he was nervous but he did really well. Yamato talks technical stuff (music wise) and then he high fives and fist bumps one of the band mates?? CUTIE PATOOTIE ALERT!!!! Honestly, he’s so pure and beautiful? One of the band mates tried to go ‘Knife of Day is… well, the name isn’t…’ ‘HAVE CONFIDENCE IT’S ALL GOOD FRIEND!!!!’ ‘Yamato that’s not what-‘ ‘WITH THESE MEMBERS WE’RE KNIFE OF DAY! WE’RE GOOD!!!’ ‘but the name-‘ ‘THESE FOUR MEMBERS. KNIFE OF DAY. HAVE CONFIDENCE!!!!’ Takeru comes along and talks about camp. Yamato is very cute toward Takeru who is worried a little about him. Very sweet scenes. Yamato explains both the band and August 1st are important to him. Later, Takeru buys Yamato a pink sleeping bag because he’s a shit head lmao

Everyone’s at camp, Mimi forgets everything. She’s adorable. People set up camp, which is cute. Yamato runs the kitchen and Hikari is chased by Agumon because she has meat. Etemon is the camp ground guardian? (What do you call these guys??) He takes their money (OF COURSE) and keeps going ‘there are MONKEYS around here!’ and everyone’s like k cool story. Eventually he’s like YOU WANNA SEE A MONKEY?!? But everyone’s like nah bro we good, so he runs off dejected.

The kids talk about the future. Mimi just wants to be a kid forever, but Palmon says she wants to be an adult lol. Koushirou isn’t sure what he wants to do, but says he likes computers. Jyou really talks about why he wants to be a doctor and it’s such a good speech! Yamato and Taichi are both like ‘well, I like my hobby I guess??’ Sora deflects the question, Hikari doesn’t know.

Yamato and Taichi try to converse later (it’s just the two of them because Koushirou said something to ruin the mood so Takeru dragged him away even though he was like ‘I’ll stay awake as long as you’re up bro’). It’s mostly Hey Yamato Yeah? …. … . … Yeah?! …Nothing -silence- We have a lot to talk about, huh Yamato? -plays harmonica-

She tries to get info out of Hikari who tries to get info out of her back. They both start going ‘what about Sora’ who stays asleep but Mimi is about to ‘reveal’ who Sora likes when she shoots up and is all like I DON’T LIKE ANYONE!!! They’re all lying down in sleeping bags, so Hikari and Mimi were jumping around in their sleeping bags and Mimi does the CUTEST wiggle!!!

They talk about their dreams and Mimi is like ‘I like lotsa stuff??’ but she thinks it’s stupid and is kinda embarrassed but they’re like?? No? it’s cool to have multiple interests and dreams? WHICH IS A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE

Jyou leaves early for his exam the next morning. Shit goes down and people split up to solve the problem. Etemon ends up revealing himself to Taichi and co. He’s super strong and is basically like “it’s been six years your time BUT I’VE BEEN SUPER SUPER LONELY FOR 100 YEARS I JUST WANNA CHILL”

There’s a gate so everyone (bar Jyou) is stuck at camp. Etemon forces Tai, Hikari, Sora and Mimi to bbq with him. AND THE ETEMON FIVE. YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT – ETEMON HAS FOUR COLOURED MONKEY BOY BAND FRIENDS. THEY SING AND EAT AND PLAY TOGETHER. THEY’RE THE ETEMON FIVE, COMING TO A TOWN NEAR YOU!!!

Anyway, there’s a fight and Etemon wins and gets the above group together and the bbq happens. Etemon is super happy to see Hikari (“oniichan!” “eh? You’re the only dude… YOUR SISTER?! HOW ADORABLE!!!”) and she’s like ‘stop fighting’ and he’s like ‘girl? That’s all I want???’ but later they eat all the food and Etemon whips out yakisoba and offers some to Hikari.

“No. I don’t want it?” –awkward silence- Etemon 1: Eh? Why? Etemon 2: -idk- Etemon 3: Don’t push her! Etemon 4: Is it… you’re dieting? If that’s it… I totally understand…

Hikari is done with their shit. She wants to go home. Mimi wants a bath. Sora’s done with this bullshit. They realise time has gone whack. Tai and Sora have a tiff, Mimi makes Sora back down when she tries to comfort him so Hikari can do it instead. Time is whack so they’ve been there forever, Etemon is like I SAID I WAS LONELY YOU CAN’T LEAVE EVER!!! He then tries to make Taichi be his bestie.
