Just a general note in response to some anon asks I've received today: I'm very sorry if whatever is going down over on twitter is upsetting you. That sucks. But to be fair, when isn't there stuff going down over on twitter? This very much seems to be what twitter is all about these days: endless and usually pointless arguments. They always seem to find a reason to get angry and righteous over there, and let's just say there's a reason I don't have a twitter account.
I don't mean to sound callous or rude, but I just genuinely do not care what people on twitter are fighting about now, and I don't care whose fans are fighting who or why. It's all just noise to me that I really don't need in my life, and which I honestly think pretty much everyone would be happier without. I'm quite content being unaware of drama (as distinct from actual news and tragedies, of course).
So unless you personally need help for some reason (because you're very upset or you're being harassed), or there's something I can actively do to help (report a stalker or something similar), please just assume that I don't want to know about the twitter drama of the week. Thank you for understanding 💛

The most infuriating form of sanism is this idea that mentally ill people/people with mental disorders are just too stupid or too unenlightened to know how to be a proper, well-adjusted person
So many therapists have ignored signs of my unwellness simply because they assumed I was just... being stupid, and I just needed educating about why I'm acting disordered (apparently, mental disorders stop disordering you once you are condescendingly told why you're just disordered and dumb, who knew (sarcasm)).
Like, I could tell them that I knew my behaviour wasn't "rational," wasn't "reasonable" to do or believe and I'd still be treated like I was so dumb I needed hand-holding and scolding about why I'm acting disordered.
I truly wish that people would be able to take the idea of guidance and stop twisting it into "I am superior and enlightened and the people I am trying to help are stupid and wrong and beneath me!"

Fourth Anniversary Art Analysis
(Credits to DRDTdev for the art, obviously. Please support the original post.)
Yeah guys, this is definitely Charles, trust me. (/j)
In all seriousness, the reveal of what Teruko's brother (more or less) looks like got me thinking about a couple of things. I'd like to ramble about them in a space less directly linked to the public fourth anniversary art!
The first is that we've (basically) confirmed that Teruko's brother is older than her, something that I don't think we actually technically knew until now! I always got those kind of vibes, but it's nice to know for sure.
The second is something that most people have picked up on-- his white hair color. Between DRDT and altDRDT, the only people who we've seen with white hair up to this point are XF and Dandelion (I think those are the names people agreed upon???). Both of those seem... unlikely to be Teruko's brother, although, for what it's worth, they do both use he/him pronouns. That's not to say that Teruko's brother couldn't have dyed his hair after he and Teruko last parted, and still be someone else we know, like Teacher. However, I could also easily believe that DRDTdev may have wanted to draw this art as a soft disconfirmation of the "Teacher is Teruko's brother" theory before people got in too deep. It's too bad, though, I did like that one.
One of the reasons why I liked it was because of the synergy with Teruko's favorite color being red due to "association." However, even if Teruko's brother still is Teacher, it seems like he has no red in his design as of the last time Teruko saw him. I suppose red could still be his eye color, but I'm going to take this mean that Teruko's positive association with red is due to somebody else-- likely either Xander or Mai, or possibly still Teacher, but without him being her brother.
Lastly, and most importantly, I find it highly interesting that, at this point in time, Teruko's brother is shown with several scrapes and bandages, while Teruko has absolutely none. It got me thinking about the nature of Teruko's luck.
I wonder if Teruko's bad luck operates in a way where it will hurt whoever is around her until she's the only one left, at which point it has no one to attack but herself. (The only comparison I can think of is to the Death card in the card game Fluxx, so shout out if you know what I'm talking about.)
As long as Teruko is the "protagonist," her luck will go after the "side characters". But, if Teruko isolates herself, then the luck will go after the hero.
Now, there is a bit of contradictory evidence going on here, because Teruko has had unfortunate things happen to her since entering the killing game and being around other people. Most notably, the time that she slipped and fell while holding the cake, and when Xander tried to kill her. That's why I'm wondering if there's also an element of how much Teruko cares about these people involved. Like, if Teruko cares less about someone, they don't pop up as a "side character" punching bag as much. Or, if Teruko caring about someone is the inciting incident to turning an entire group of people into "side characters"-- that way, if she had no friends at any of the schools she attended, she could have avoided dooming them all.
Teruko cared a lot about Xander, so his betrayal was the tipping point. After she took one last blow, the scales tipped and more bad things started happening to the other students than to Teruko. Teruko falling down transformed into the much worse luck of Min dying. And, from then on, the "side characters" started taking the brunt of the bad luck (J's secret being revealed, Eden being bullied and threatened, Ace nearly dying, etc), while Teruko remained mostly fine.
If there is an element of how much Teruko cares about people involved, it would give her a lot of incentive to be a loner and actively make people dislike her.
Anyways, just a thought. This one is pretty off the cuff, so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm missing something or overstepping here.
Happy fourth anniversary DRDT, happy ???th birthday Mai, and a happy day to all of you!

How i envisioned Danny's ghost form/Phantom in my Danyal Al Ghul au (images at bottom of post). His ghost form has some pr heavy influence from the League, because I thought it'd be neat + to kinda show how even after four years, the League still had some kind of impact on who is he as a person. Plus some milder Robin influence in his boots and the cape (which i meant to be split down the middle to have some kind of 'bird wing' silhouette) as a way to indicate his lingering desire to meet his dad.
The pauldron lookin-thing on his upper chest is based off certain Danny Phantom designs I see that give him that white,,, marking,,, thing. I've been calling it the Jedi Chestplate because it reminds me of the clone wars Jedi armor. So like, slight homage to his hazmat suit.
(not pictured: his thermos and his sword)
behold! the judgmental lil shit (affectionate) himself

Thinking about "your weakness is how you always want to be the hero" and how the series returns to this at the end
Li Lianhua hated how he acted as Li Xiangyi and spent years trying to distance himself from it, but ultimately he still fell back into the similar patterns, for all his added experience
His main priority was always to "do the right thing" regardless of how that would impact on those around him. And it *did* impact those around him. From Qiao Wanmian and Shan Gudao as Li Xiangyi to Fang Duobing and Di Feisheng as Li Lianhua
Giving the Styx flower to the emperor so he could use it as leverage to guarantee Fang Duobing and his family's safety. Using the last of his power to save Yun Biqiu. Constantly putting others above himself whilst actively refusing to recognise that his self-sacrificial nature would hurt those he cared about most
And sure, he thinks he's going to die anyway. They're going to be hurt regardless and he can't do anything about that. His odds are low of the Styx flower even working. But ultimately, he refuses to even consider trying. Li Xiangyi has been dead a long time and Li Lianhua is just there to tide things over. What value is the life of a ghost
To the end, he lives and dies a hero. To the end, he refuses to live for himself.

Chapter 6 of (Love) Triangles is up! For anyone who likes seeing Dick cause people problems for fun and profit (?), boy is this is the chapter for you.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Fandom: DCU
Pairing(s): Clark Kent/Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson & Bruce Wayne
Length: 42k
Chapters: 6/?
“I appreciate your help in getting this far,” he told Superman. “I’ll take it from here.”
He turned to walk towards the building, but Superman caught his arm before he could. “Alone? No, I made a promise to help—”
“You did,” Bruce said, fixing him with a stern glare. “But you said it yourself: we don’t know how much kryptonite is in there. And if you’re affected by it even out here, there’s a good chance you’d be more hindrance than help inside.”
Superman looked displeased. There was a furrow forming between his perfect brows; the mere idea of being a hindrance seemed actively uncomfortable for him. But eventually, his hand slipped from Bruce’s arm.
“Sure. Maybe you have a point. But I’m not leaving,” he said firmly. “I’ll listen in from here, so that if something happens I can step in.”
Bruce bit back the instinctive response: that Superman had already fulfilled his role here, that it wasn’t his business, that Bruce could take care of himself and Robin with no help from any superpowered aliens. But then, he’d been the one to ask Superman for help in the first place. And if something did happen with Robin, he knew he’d be glad of the safety net. And appallingly, he did find himself…trusting him, with this at least.
God. Alfred was going to be so smug.

I'd like to watch firsthand all the B-mancers viscerally SUFFER when their baby ducky turns out to no longer love them, all strings cut off. I'm only saying this because I am in love with that bee too, and I need that pain to be mutual for everyone, lol.
>.>
Anon, maybe there can be a Bee support group during Book Two since you all will be getting some varying degrees of angst, but...
Do you truly think B could no longer love you and completely close off? 🥺🐝
Instead, what if B loves you so much, that they try to tamp down their misgivings about the situation? They might feel guilty about even having a single negative thought about you or this imprisonment homecoming to Fernweh. It could be far easier for them to direct some 'hate' towards themself than to stop loving/caring about the MC. I can't really tease too much since it's best if you experience it in-game; there are many conflicting feelings.
I can say that I've already written sections that are a departure from the first book to begin introducing this dynamic for B-mancers. It isn't all angst; this is important for B's character arc/backstory, etc, so I'm sincerely excited for all Returning Visitors to explore this. 💚
(But especially those who are besties with B or romancing them.)
Thank you for your ask!

Here's my art summary for this year!
...
Dude,
I dunno what this year was
It was definitely a work-life-emotional wellbeing-art balancing act. But I learned a lot from it! I made a mini-zine, kinda got back into doing a little bit of merch stuff, and I've been working on a bigger project!
Going into 2024, I hope I can go back to being more comfortable with drawing smaller things here and there that don't necessarily even need to get posted and maybe just... less ginormous comics.
But until then, we continue to manage the vibes.

"It’s Not Too Bad When You Get Used to It" by IneffableDoll
T, 8 chapters
CHAPTER 1: 3.3k
Following Armageddon’s failure, Aziraphale and Crowley perform the bodyswap, prepared to be captured by Heaven and Hell. But after both factions fail to show up the next day, the angel and demon must pretend to be the other for much longer than anticipated…
Hilarity ensues, feelings are felt, and no one anticipated so much breakfast being involved. But that’s ineffability for you.
*
Prewritten; will update every three days until completion. Come back on December 29th to binge!
A silly romp of Aziraphale and Crowley poorly playacting as each other, with fluff and feels because I can't help myself. Queerplatonic, aroace, lots of banter and humor! Book vibes and characterization with season one canon.

Sorry but am I the only one that thought that episode…sucked? Like it was straight up bad. Horrible pacing, no wrap up of all the random characters and plot lines they’ve thrown around all season (the tuskegee airmen, Westgates spying, literally all the guys beside like the main 4). (Seriously it makes me so mad that the three redtails got all of 5 seconds of screen time, almost no lines. Literally what was the point of introducing them other than to pretend the show was iNcLuSiVe) Even at the end of BoB and the Pacific you get a much better idea of what happened to all the remaining guys. In this they’re like what happened to DeMarco or Hambone or Brady or (insert character here) we don’t know! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The concentration camp scene felt shoehorned in compared to how it was done in BoB. Unless that actually happened to Rosie (which i haven’t heard anything about) but it was just like.. ok? It all felt so rushed and emotionless to me. Maybe I’ve just fallen out of love with MoTA but it’s been downhill for me since episode 6 or so.
i already made a little (read: long) post-finale write-up here, where i talk about the use of the tuskegee airmen, l'sandra, and overall editing/pacing issues i felt the show had. but i don't agree with the notion that adding the redtails was in any way insincere or trying to halfass being "iNcLuSiVe", i just think they suffer from this show's obvious time constraints. and to summarize what i wrote in my linked post, there's a limit to what white writers/directors/producers can do when creating a story about black people. there are some stories i'd feel uncomfortable with them telling on their own, truth be told. dee rees wasn't the sole nonwhite director, but she Was the only black one. i think she did her job well given the limitations and i appreciate that they let her direct those episodes, rather than leaving it up to a team of white people trying their best to tell a black story.
the worst i can say about the finale is that it didn't feel like That strong of finale, tho i wouldn't go as far to say it "sucked" or call it "straight up bad". i liked it plenty, it's just the weakest of the hbo war finales imo.
as for the concentration camp scene, artistic license was taken with both shows. unlike what's seen in the BoB, easy company wasn't the first to arrive at kaufering, and there's 0 mention of the all-japanese american 552nd who helped them liberate it). similarly, rosie rosenthal did assist in liberating those camps, though it would've been after the events shown this episode. idk if he saw one in that up-close way seen in this episode, but he could've (i should research this when i have time). plus, it would've felt weird Not having him acknowledge them at all. "shoe-horned" is an odd term to use here imo, as both scenes more-or-less center a jewish character (BoB's liebgott and MotA's rosie). the former show has survivors the characters can help, the latter shows no one left to help. the former has all of easy company there, the latter has rosie there all alone. rosie's scene felt deeply personal in that way. at the end of the day, both scenes are communicating different things. that doesn't make one better than the other when they aren't trying to be identical. (disclaimer, i'm not jewish, so i'd be interesting hearing from the perspective of someone who wrt whether or not they felt it was "shoe-horned")
i can understand if you've disliked the show post-episode 6 (and episode 6 was a very strong episode i'm ngl). eps 7 and 8 were weaker in many ways, even to me, so i get it. everyone's entitled to their own opinion (i'd be a hypocrite saying otherwise). just understand that this blog is run by someone who overall enjoys this show despite its flaws! basically, i encourage you to take this energy and make your own posts.

I've always wanted to ask how you felt about the Catholic Church's teachings about homosexuality and their refusal to sanctify gay marriages. I know you're on pretty decent terms with multiple individual Catholics (like me), so I assumed you didn't care that much, but still would like to know
I actually feel the same way about the Church's refusal to perform gay marriage as I do about government sanctioned gay marriage, or marriage in general. I don't need any third party to validate my marriage or my relationship. To me, marriage is a lifetime commitment to love another person. I can do that in a cave with just the person I love and it would have the same meaning to me as if I did it in a church with 1000 people. If anything, I understand the Church's position on not accepting it a lot more than I do the government's. Outside the Constitution, which never mentions marriage at all, all laws can be changed or repealed by congress at any time. Hell, even the Constitution can be changed through the amendment process if there are enough states that support it. That's just how our government is supposed to work. If all these politicians wanted to make gay marriage legal, they could have done it at any time instead of waiting until the Supreme Court ruled that banning gay marriage is unconstitutional and then acting like they supported that all along. The Church isn't like that, the way I understand it. Its laws are made by God and aren't supposed to be subject to change. Especially not change because secular society has changed.
As for my feelings about the Church's teachings about homosexuality, I don't really have any. I'd probably feel differently if I was a believer, but even though I was raised Catholic, I don't believe in God and I don't follow the Church's teachings. I've honestly never understood why so many atheists get so mad about what Christians believe. To me, one of the best parts of not believing was not having to care what the Church says about anything anymore. But so many of them seem to base their entire lives around hating Christianity or doing the opposite of what the Bible says and to me that's just another way of having religion dictate your life. That's a whole other thing, though, lol. Basically I have no issue with what the Church, or individual Christians, think about my sexuality. If anyone says they want to pray for me, I take it in the spirit I assume it's intended, that they have genuine concern for my soul and are being compassionate in their own way. If they're saying it with scorn and to feel superior, I just ignore it. And if Christians are right about God and the afterlife, I think Jesus would have a few things to say about people using his teachings as an excuse to hate other people.

No cause even if you’re just nonchalant about Joe, people act like you hate him 💀 like you gotta think he’s the best man that has ever existed and that no one Taylor is with will ever compare to him, or else you hate his guts. It’s hilarious.
And they’re completely serious too, like I don’t agree with a lot of joe antis but I think a few ‘ anti joe’ posts out there are just attempts to be funny/ witty but the joe Stans/ defenders , they truly think he’s the most wonderful human being that can do no wrong and anything bad that happened is somehow Taylor’s fault
it's so dumb because i believe on this blog, we've always been appreciative that relationships are complicated. and i personally believe that taylor has intentionally shared some of the ugly in their relationship through some surprise songs, ylm (and the recording date), and older songs in her discography like renegade. if people take issue with "gossip," whatever, that's fine. if they're just annoyed because their idea of joe is being challenged, that's not my problem.

i know hoyo is setting up rhine to have good intent and whatever in her trying to 'save' khaneri'ah or whatever; but i REALLY hope they stay with the cruel persona thats been built up for her. because it would be so wonderful to see a character who had good intent in the beginning just get absolutely corrupted; with the inability to ever go back to that prior state purely because of what had happened. also because there is NO way in her turning back after all that shit
